The vibe of this place is truly remarkable. They have good taste in chocolate, as they offer chocopologie (one of my absolute favs, from CT). They have an incredibly creative collection of eats and sandwiches, honeys, jams, cheeses, wines, and more! They have no AC, and on a 60 degree day, it around 80 in there. I like warm. All winter my home is 73 and cozy. This was not warm. I almost stepped outside to wait for my food because I have a medical condition and extreme heat can make me pass out. It was THAT hot. My favorite chocolate was leaking its contents of caramel, though, surprisingly, not squishy and melted itself (I cannot fathom what it will be like in here come summer. If you are elderly or sensitive to extreme heat, this place is NOT for you). My other concern was that all of the food you see was simply sitting out in that unbearable heat (with the exception of a few meats, nestled in a cooler under the cash register). The pasta, hummus, tapenade, corn, shrimp, and other dishes were simply sitting behind glass on an exposed counter. There is no way that is up to code or remotely safe. I only thought about this as I tried a pepper stuffed with cheese and prosciutto, and spit it out the second it touched my tongue. It tasted truly awful, like it had gone bad. The chickpea-free, carrot hummus was delicious: apparently just tahini, carrots, olive oil, and seasonings. It was truly fantastic. The fig jam was not sweet at all, more like a date paste. I imagine it would be good on some things like a pizza with sweet balsamic vinegar, arugula and ricotta or something, but it wasn’t good plain, that’s for sure. Lastly, the peach, spinach, mozzarella, and bacon panini I ordered wasn’t good. I didn’t realize the spinach would be cooked. Cooked spinach on a sandwich…maybe if it was the right sandwich, but the pungent spinach flavor overpowered the peach and made the bread soggy. This place is adorable, and the food is creative. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and apparently they’ve been there for 14 years, so a fixture in the community. Other than the non-refrigerated items, I think I’d really enjoy exploring this menu, but the temperature is also a serious issue. The place was fully accessible, and there is parking and handicapped parking out front, though the massive table in the middle does mean that a wheeled user may have to wait till the line moves to get past it. I came at 4:10. They close at 5, and start putting up chairs at 4. They did leave two small tables for visitors so much better that most of the traffic is earlier in the day.

Only in town for two weeks but definitely plan to go back here before leaving! The toasted Brie sandwich without bacon was absolutely delicious especially the peach jam. I also greatly appreciated the genuine friendliness of the staff. For the vibe think classic Italian meat and cheese shop. If I had a complaint it would be that there was too much cheese on the sandwich. But, then again, is that even possible?

Kayla L.

Google
I had an amazing sandwich at Bloomy Rind. Initially, I went in to see about buying some cheeses for a charcuterie board at home, but was blown away by their selection of food. I got the truffle fromage, as well as some Italian candies. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was extremely friendly. We were asked several times about the quality of the food, and discussed about the candy at length (which is delicious). I saw previous reviews mentioning no AC, which seemed to be true - but it was only slightly warm in there and it was 80 degrees today! The heat was not offensive. Be prepared to wait 15-20 mins for a hot sandwich. It’s totally worth the wait, and there are so many curated and interesting items that it really doesn’t even matter. Overall, an incredible experience that I will be going back to!

Google
Mary truly works hard to provide the best service and you can see she’s always hustling and greeting customers, maintaining a relationship with them. I love coming here when I can sneak a break from work and pick out a few items from the display at the front, some items are fan favorites and I can always expect to grab, some a surprise. Always something new, but also keeping the staples people love. Perfect to stop and get some good quality, fresh meals or sandwiches. get there early or people ahead of you will be ready to package up and take home it all!! So so good. Great selection of snacks crackers wine and drinks as well :)

Google
Mary and Bailey are phenomenal! Mary will spend as much time needed with you to explore the cheese world (which she is full of knowledge and passionate about) and Bailey's dishes that are made from scratch have a taste of heaven in each bite! Well done chef!

Rachel T.

Google
Cannot recommend enough - all of their sandwiches are fantastic and made to order, plus the customer service cannot be beat. I had not been to the shop in many years but recently moved back to the area and Mary still remembered me. Cannot miss!

Adam S.

Google
Mary is the co owner and she is operating with excellence. You are served here! An eclectic, electric and excellent specialty sandwich shop. The sandwiches are made to order with care. Each additional ingredient has a distinct purpose in which she will likely explain. She's a savant and a wonderful host. Her energy is palpable and contagious, as the food matched her knowledgeable and passionate personna. My first visit here was an experience. I can't wait to go back! I can't recommend this place enough. GO HERE!

Kerry R.

Google
Love this place, love Mary (so much!) love the food, love the vibe, and I've ordered a few platters and they've all been outstanding and much remarked upon. Bloomy Rind certainly doesn't need my review to tell you how great it is as it already has over 100 others saying the same. But, I have to reiterate what everyone already knows to be true: this place is awesome.

Yelp
I would give 5 stars but the counterperson was a little slow with his responses about the menu. But the owner, Mary Sullivan was in point. She greeted us when we entered. For some reason businesses have stopped doing that, unless you're WalMart! Then she gave us a full overview of the menu along with making sure our portions were generous, and our to go order was packed properly. Food was delightful and I went on a tasting frenzy. The noodles, chicken and peas were super tasty. The Butcher sandwich was piled high with Italian meats making it enough for two to share. The Butcher also had a surprise pickle in the middle that added a nice tangy taste. The kale salad with chorizo, white beans and manchengo was my fave. I'd make the 30 minute drive just for those flavors. I topped it off with the caramel bread pudding. Such a nice transitional dessert as well enter the autumn months. Forgot to add that they sell all kinds of cheeses, wines and other special delicacies.

Yelp
Holy moly this place is amazing ! My sister brought me here and we had the best time Holy moly this place is amazing ! My sister brought me here and we had the best time

Yelp
Today, I was so delighted to have lunch with my husband at Bloomy Rind and to be personally catered to by Mary. I selected the Truffle Pressed Fromage and my husband chose the Housemade Roast Beef and we splurged and ordered a side of the delectable Kale Salad. Let me just tell you, that the truffle pressed fromage with ham was a whole world better than the Croque Monsieur that I just had on a trip to Paris, that my daughter treated me to,at a high end restaurant. I am so impressed with Mary's culinary skills and she is a very sweet person as well!

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches served with a great sense of humor. You may have to wait a few minutes because it's no secret, but if you're not in a hurry, the wait is well worth it.
google avatar

Anna R.

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches. I got the Mediterranean which was a total mess but amazing taste. Will definitely stop here any time I'm in Hingham.
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Nice sandwich shop with a small cheese counter. I came in at almost 2:00 in the afternoon and they were still dealing with the lunch rush. The owner ended up helping me pick out a couple cheeses, though I really knew what I wanted anyway. She was very polite and introduced hersself thanked me for my business

May Ann M.

Yelp
A quaint & charming shop with a good selection of sandwiches. The manager is friendly & clear that their sandwiches are made to order, thus there's a wait unless you pre-order. Had a great Mediterranean sandwich with some potato chips from Ireland. Would like to see more veggie options in their offerings.

Yelp
If you are craving healthy delicious food in a cool little restaurant with fabulous service? Look no further and visit here. The owner was so sweet and so welcoming. 10 star place all around!

Dorothy A.

Katelyn L.

Yelp
Great selection and customer service! Highly recommend to anyone looking for unique and delicious cheese on the South Shore

Kathy D.

Yelp
I was looking for a place off route three on my drive to the Cape and found bloomy rind on yelp. The excellent reviews swayed me to go there, and I was not disappointed! The shop is adorable and the staff and owner are so super friendly. The food was fabulous, and the conversation was great. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I cannot believe I just tried this place. It's not super close to home but it's well worth the drive. The Mediterranean sandwich is blow ya balls off good! Wife had the Cubano and boom! it blew her tils off! Nice lady (assuming she owned it) running the counter knew her customers by their first name and welcomed me in like I had been there a million times. Guy making my sandwich was a good shlt too 10/10 will be back soon.

Emma M.

Yelp
Incredible service, food, and entire vibe at this perfect hole in the wall in Hingham center. They always have new foods available for me to try, I probably would never have tried anywhere else like parsnip bisque (which I ended up falling in love with!) My boyfriend has never liked brie before, but decided if he's going to try it again Bloomy Rinds is the place, now his favorite sandwich is the Toasted Brie with Smoked Bacon, it comes with a peach jam too which is just the perfect compliment! The people who work there, are some of the friendliest and kindest people in all of customer service. If you haven't tried Bloomy Rinds, you need to make it your next lunch stop, trust me you won't regret it!!
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
Good food, slow service, word on the street is that the owner treats the employees terribly. She yells at them and doesn't allow them to accept tips, which is unreasonable considering they only get minimum wage.

Forrest W.

Yelp
Amazing Food and even better service! This place is one of a kind. Food changes every day and they served the best Rueben I've ever had!

AV S.

Yelp
Food and service are awesome! Love Bailey and Mary. Great sandwiches, especially the Italian

B K.

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing food. Always a wonderful experience to visit. Name a better spot in New England for sandwiches, wine, cheese and deliciousness. You can't.

Katie K.

Yelp
I've been to a Bloomy Rind twice as an out of town visitor. In both instances the food and service were 10/10. The selections of salad, soups and sandwiches are to die for. The food is so flavorful and unique but also like comfort food. And Mary is super kind, you can tell she loves her job. I will make sure this is a stop every time I come to the south shore!
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
The warmth of the sandwich and the complex scent of the Cubano are the first things you notice when you handle the sandwich. It's then, not when the taste dances across your lips, that you realize everything has changed. You've been in the dark on the Bloomy Rind, and denied yourself these luxuries. Mortgage? Rent? Car? Nay. Artisanal sandwiches, cheeses, house made spreads and salads, these are what you need. They comfort, embrace and satisfy you the way food should. Embrace yourself: go to the Bloomy Rind. I'd have included a photo, but it was just empty wax paper...

Yelp
Love this shop. That's saying a lot as a person who can't have dairy or gluten. However, my family love both and the team at the shop helps me get wonderful options for the rest of the family, even when I can't try them myself. The carrot hummus is exceptional and the pasta dishes get rave reviews. My daughter loves getting to try some of the cheese we buy in the shop and we're always welcomed in with warmth and kindness. What an asset this place is to our town.

Yelp
Everyone hopes they'll stumble across that hidden gem of a restaurant. The one that makes you feel special because you think no one knows about it. The one that turns out homey, affordable food made with love. Well, I found one of those hidden gems...WAY OFF the beaten path and unfortunately 3000 miles away from home. I'd like to think that San Francisco has some pretty great sandwich shops, but let me tell you, I had one of the best sandwiches to ever grace my life at Bloomy Rind. I split a Cuban sandwich..and lets just say by the end I wish I had gotten my own. The bread was well buttered and ridged for maximum crispiness. The roast pork was cut into thick juicy slabs. The pickle wedges were crispy and fresh. The cheese was a blanket of melty deliciousness and even the mustard was a thick schmear of heaven. It was perfect. And all for $8.50. I'm pretty sure Bloomy Rind's sandwiches are so darn good because they're an actual cheese shop that carries a fantastic selection of delicious unique cheeses. Naturally, these yummy cheeses end up in your sammich. One of the friendly ladies actually came around and offered me a sample of Prairie Breeze cheese and I thought it was tasty enough to bring back on the plane with me. They also carry giant salami chubs (always a good thing), jars of honey and jam, dried pastas, and bars of chocolate. Bloomy Rind, with your unforgettable name...in the town of Hingham that I had never heard of before we crossed paths. You really were an unforgettable sandwich and I hope we meet again.

Yelp
3 reasons I love Bloomy Rind : 1. Mary 2. Robert 3. Their food Food is quite amazing and the owners are super amazing as well. Love them and love bloomy!

Pall A.

Yelp
"Jesus is watching." Seriously? This was the punctuation after being berated by one of the employees at BR as he was ringing me up. I won't get into the details about the rant or the events leading up to it...the whole situation and behavior was beyond ridiculous. It also felt like it was likely a common occurrence. The food was good and thanks to the owner for the brownie...it was an unusually kind gesture and clearly apparent she didn't hear what was going on. That said, although I live in Hingham I won't be back.

Yelp
Favorite little spot, everything is fantastic here. The love and care put forth by the owners and staff is unparalleled.

Yelp
Always delicious. Chef and Mary share their talents and knowledge and their customers reap the rewards in the form of incredible sandwiches, salads, roast chicken that falls off the bone and tastes amazing, carrot hummus, soups, and nutty romanesco. And don't forget the wide variety of gourmet cheeses. Pure joy for your tastebuds.

Yelp
Drove out of our way on a trip south to Providence to meet up with some relatives and check out the Bloomy Rind. I called ahead to find out if there was seating inside and was told yes. While this is true, I was unable to get a real sense of seating from other reviews, and feel the need to give more information on that. The Bloomy Rind is primarily a take out establishment. There is one communal table that seats 6, one smaller round table that could seat 3-4 and one other very small table that seats one person. We were able to secure four seats fairly easily, but I can completely see another scenario where seating could be very hard to claim. Keep this in mind as you plan your visit. We had been warned from other reviews to expect a long wait for excellent and innovative food, and that proved true as well. The only curious part to me was that there were 4 people working the counter and it still took an unusually long time to turn orders around. On the other hand, we were the first order in ahead of a big rush, so I am not complaining in any way. Food was great, delicious overstuffed sandwiches and an excellent kale and white bean salad!

Mathnasium C.

Yelp
It's an experience...great food, vibe and conversation with Mary, Chef Robert and the staff is always one that makes you feel seen and welcome.
google avatar

Yelp
I appreciate that everything is made to order but 45 minutes for a sandwich seems aggressive. They also don't let you make substitutions which I don't love - especially when it's as simple as not liking a certain aioli flavor and hoping to swap it for another one that they offer. Adorable shop but definitely particular and slow with their operations.
google avatar

Olivia W.

Yelp
Best spot for sandwiches on the south shore! Highly recommend the Cubano and the Roast beef sandwich. Portions are enormous and well worth the 9.95. Cheese selection is amazing and Mary is the best!
google avatar

Damien S.

Yelp
I can't get over the tenderness of the roast pork in their perfectly pressed Cubano. It's brined hind tender. Designed and defined tender. Bloomy Rind tender. My hosts raved about the cheese shop that did sandwiches, which, with few exceptions (ahem, Dave's Fresh), tend to offer paninis out of necessity. End result? A shop that runs the risk of second-rate offerings, slapping a slab a hearty hunk of Manchego on whatever and calling it a day. But not here, friends - not at the Rind. While spots in the prepared foods counter seem a bit anemic, the cheese display is stacked and piled with monger-approved dairy. With a pregnant woman in our midst, they knew instantly which quesos came pasteurized for universal snackability, and with a few additional questions on preference, suggested a few definite winners. Back to the Cubano ($8) though, shall we? If you know anything about me, it's that I can set a clock on any device, first try. It's a gift. For the sake of learning something new, I'm also a huge Cuban sandwich fan, thus turning a nose up on most of the deviations to the world's most perfect sandwich. Here's where Bloomy Rind strayed from the formula: - Roast post in torn chunks - Pickles in spears - Gruyere, not Swiss - Sliced artisan boulé instead of a Cuban loaf Here's where I had beef with the changes: - Yeah, blank. It was tremendous - mostly because of the high-quality foodstuffs, but also due to the crusty peaks and valleys of a meticulous press from pro-grade equipment. Low heat and heavy weight means an airy, crunchy grill you'll have to wait for, but hoo doggy is it worth it. They have jams and spreads on shelves with crackers and crisps. There's a community table for those dining in, containers of nuts and books on curding - even kits for the at-home, wannabe cheese makers (at $20, it's a perfect gift for any cheese lover, which is pretty much everyone). The space is small, but with food like this and a winning staff of amicable experts, they'll be knocking down walls in no time. A definite winner.

Yelp
I remain seriously in love with this artisinal cheese shop. One of the highlights of running my Saturday errands is popping into Bloomy Rind to see what strikes my fancy in the always well-stocked cheese case. The owners continue to be so engaging, kind and helpful. Knowing that I am particularly enamored of blue cheeses I was treated to a couple of samples of types I hadn't had before. I settled on a fabulous one from Spain wrapped in gorgeous grape leaves. It's not only delicious but incredibly pretty to look at. I also bought a crusty baguette, got a freshly grilled vegetable and cheese panino, another container of my favorite white anchovies, and a brilliant lentil salad. I love the big farmer's table and benches in the middle of the shop. It provides a perfect place to stop to have your cheese or sandwich or whatever goodies you've purchased in close and convivial proximity to other store patrons. There is always such a fun and friendly commotion going on that it's impossible to resist wanting to be a part of the store action. What I resisted today, but barely, were the gorgeous muffins fresh out of oven...next time for those... as there will always be a next time for me with this wonderful store owned by a terrific couple. P.S.happy birthday today to the late but still great John Lennon.

Yelp
Stopped in today for some bleu cheese for my mother. I assume it was the owner and she was so helpful. Will definitely be back the cheese is amazing! Both people said I bought the cheese for said it was the best bleu cheese they've ever had.

Yelp
Best sandwiches in the South Shore. The owners are very nice and take great pride in the quality of their food. Recommend calling your order ahead as it is a very popular spot and sandwiches are made with love and to the exact specifications of the customer.

Keith H.

Yelp
The food here is delicious. Your experience seems to depend on who you get to wait on you. The cheese monger, Mary, is very sweet and welcoming.
google avatar

Yelp
I cannot give them enough kudos. Food and atmosphere are amazing. Love this place. Mary is so nice and helpful. The sandwiches are so interesting and huge. Best spot in Hingham.

Yelp
I was there today it took 35 minutes for a Cuban sandwich and a grilled cheese very unprofessional and the sandwich is still soggy she give me one cookie for waiting I thought that was very disappointing first time going there and last 2 sandwiches and a bread spread cost me $50 The sandwich is horrible.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Absolutely love their sandwiches! Now wife has me eating Keto so I will be in soon for some ideas of how to make your sandwiches wife approved! See you soon!

Yelp
I was so excited to finally try this little place and discover something new in my town. I wandered in to browse the cheese cases and was asked very sharply "What are you DOING? Get back!" Here's the thing: I'm well aware of precautions during the time of COVID and use PPE liberally, but that doesn't give a shop owner the right to treat customers rudely. Try a little kindness and some clear signage. Luckily I discovered another nearby gem which will get my lunch business going forward. I like my sandwiches with a side of neighborliness - thanks.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
There's food, and then there is Food. This place is the latter. Cubano; I'd wager top 5 or top 3 Sandwiches I've ever had. Grilled cheese was delicious and so was the carrot hummus. Staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous. We will be regulars. I have zero doubt.

Yelp
My fiance found this place on Yelp while we were running errands in Hingham. We went in and they had large family style serving bowls and platters of food behind a glass window. Everything looked fresh and delicious, but I was having a difficult time deciding on something because outside of the many vegetable dishes, most things had cheese. (Being dairy free is tough, but far better than the alternative!) The woman who was helping us was amazing, and was very patient in making recommendations and asking the chef about ingredients so that I would enjoy my decision rather than regretting it. I ended up with the The Butcher and he got The Cubano, after the woman (the owner?) recommended it. He also ordered the Nucoise salad. The food was great! The Butcher comes on a very fresh, crusty bread, and the meats, basil olive oil, pickles and baked cherry tomatoes were the perfect balance of flavors. While the meats were salty, the bread and vegetables evened it out nicely. I was very happy! They also serve Spindrift flavored seltzer, which I thought was a nice touch, being they are a very high quality seltzer and they are local to Massachusetts. I had the orange mango, which was refreshing. I still like the cucumber best. He loved his food, and we mostly ate in silence outside of the occasional "wow" or "this is so good!" The employees passed out samples of one of their gourmet cheese, which everyone said were delicious, I wished I could have tried a taste! Afterward, we tried the banana foster cupcake. I'm glad we split it because we were already satisfied and it was pretty rich. But, wow! It was delicious. It was almost like a banana bread muffin with a sweet, creamy, magical frosting on top. He said it was probably the best cupcake he had ever eaten! They also sell many interesting and high quality food items, such as crackers, biscuits, chocolates and red sauces that I am interested to go back and buy. Overall, it was a great experience and we will most definitely be back!

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches. Went here with my husband and had the most delicious sandwiches. The bread is to die for. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
First time here and got some incredible sandwiches (Cubano and Med). Mary and the staff there were so friendly and very Covid cautious which I appreciated and sure can be a bit difficult in the space they have. Further, Mary was incredibly helpful in selecting some cheeses for this cheese noobie that were soooo tasty and some truffle pâté that is out of this world good. Will for sure be back, but not soon enough!!

Yelp
Whoa, I'm addicted to great brie, so the chance to go to an eating place called Bloomy Rind was irresistible. Just in case you're wondering, a bloomy rind is the soft white covering made by the Penicillium camemberti fungus and you find it on cheeses like brie and Camembert. Hey, why can't a Yelp review be educational as well as informational? The place is kind of like a little French bistro, but since I've never been to one and only seen them in the movies, I can't be 100% sure. The display area dominates and there is sitting space for about 8-10 people. The obvious star of the place is the food. It's fantastic. They have stacks of these wonderful little sandwiches as well as a wide variety of larger sandwiches and all sorts of other mouth-watering foods, such as the fattoush salad and country pate (pate de campagne for you Francophiles). The Cubano sandwich is killer with generous slices of meat melted together with cheese on kickass bread. The chocolate chip cookies are a must-eat, and everything else I've tried there has been top-notch, which is what you'd expect from Chef Robert Gonsalves who has cooked at notable restaurants such as L'Espalier and Olives. One thing to be aware of is that if you're going to order the Cubano or other hot-pressed (i.e. Panini-style) sandwiches, you're going to have to wait for several minutes because they don't pre-make them. A quality sandwich requires a little patience, and if you're in a rush, they have the mini prepared sandwiches at the very front of the display counter. But the other stars that make the place special is the chef's wife Mary and the rest of the staff. Mary seems to be everywhere at once as she runs the front of the place and is quick to welcome people as well as give them free samples of all sorts of cheeses and other foods. That's how I got hooked on a brie-like cheese called Harbison. As another patron said, "It's like brie on steroids." But a warning that if you want the full splendor of this cheese to come through, you have to warm it to room temp and scoop it out of its bark container because at room temp it's a bit runny. Btw, they have a great cheese selection and Mary is kind of like a cheese encyclopedia. So, you can learn a lot about the cheeses they sell. They say that you can always tell a great business by its employees, and it's abundantly clear that Mary and Robert run a strong ship because all the employees I've met there so far (Jessica, Paula, Betsy, and Kelly) have been fantastic. They're hard-working, pay attention to detail, and friendly. Who could ask for more? Parking is plentiful. There's parking available right in front of the place, and a huge parking lot behind it. I should warn you to be prepared to spend some money because you can walk in thinking that you're just going to get a sandwich and then walk out with a whole lot more. The food is that good. And if you just don't know where to start when you walk in, just tell them that Mr. Miami sent you, and they'll take care of you. Oh yeah, their dulce de leche bread pudding is sinfully delicious.

Carole Tierney -.

Yelp
The very best gourmet cheese shop South of Boston!! Everything, they touch is magically delicious, from soups to petite speciality sandwiches! In addition, their amazing catered dishes and elegantly prepared cheese, fig and nut specialty board is a huge hit with my clients! Bloomy Rind is your 5 star Gourmet shop in Hingham and The South Shore!

Yelp
If you feel like treating yourself to some homemade food, a friendly and helpful staff, look no further. From yummy cheeses to whole to go meals, the menu is never the same and the surprises will delight any pallet. The grilled sandwiches are special, grilled to perfection, salads to die for and the hummus is amazing, when it's not sold out. The prepared food is always in displays to view, small batches, so get there early. It's worth any ride if you appreciate a delicious home cooked anything, that I couldn't do at home in a million years.

Yelp
This place is the best. Eclectic delicious prepared food and friendly staff. A bit slow on the service but that is part of the charm. Try the English pea guacamole. Amazing.
