I had one of the worst dining experiences in a long time at Blu Jam Cafe. I went in with high hopes based on the Google reviews, but the reality was incredibly disappointing.
I ordered the eggs Benedict with salad, and my partner got the shakshuka. The eggs Benedict was just bad — the muffin tasted dry and stale, the sauce was unpleasantly sour, and the bacon had a weird, off flavor. The shakshuka was barely acceptable — it tasted like sour water with tomato chunks. Instead of a thick, flavorful tomato base, it tasted more like salsa with an egg thrown on top.
The drinks were somehow worse. My partner’s latte was overpriced, cold, and tasted like something you’d get at a gas station. But the London Fog Lavender Latte (pictured) was truly one of the worst things I’ve ever tasted. It was just warm milk with an overpoweringly sweet, artificial syrup? I couldn’t taste any coffee at all. It was so nauseating I literally gagged at the table. It was a joke. We each took one sip and left it nearly untouched.
The food presentation was fine, and the iced tea was okay — but that’s about the only good I can say.
And yet, we walked away with a $68.98 bill (receipt attached) for this disaster of a brunch. Never again. I honestly just wish Samos Cafe had been open that day.
