"There’s a new stop for sushi and other seafood on Johns Island with the opening of Blu Oyster. Look for towers of oysters, lobster cioppino, calamari with none marrow aioli, whole fish, and more. Status: Certified open." - Erin Perkins

Google
We were looking for fresh seafood, and Blu Oyster did not disappoint us. Local parentheses Virginia.) oysters on the half shell were delicious! Grilled shrimp, hush puppies slaw and salad. We’re just what I wanted. The Keylime pie was divine. We’ll definitely return.

Traveling through from out of state and passed by, seen the reviews and decided to try it out. We really enjoyed our experience! Food was hot, fresh and tasty! Our server was sweet, helpful, and checked on us just the right amount! If we’re ever around the area in the future, we’d be back! We got the hibachi, a couple rolls (volcano, and dancing dragon), and the mussels. Never had mussels before but I liked them! The sauce that the muscles come in is rich and buttery and delicious! And the fresh/hot bread dipped in the sauce was awesome as well! Definitely recommend! Place was clean and sleek! 👍

Google
Still a fantastic dining experience. Reagan was great at guiding us through the updated menu and provided us with the best service. The mussels were exceptional, as were the hush puppies and calamari. Tuna tataki and Dragon rolls were fresh and well made. Hibachi bowls are huge and easily shared. They accommodated our party of 11 without any issues. See you next year!!!

So happy that the Blu Oyster is open again! The atmosphere is incredible and the food is even better. This restaurant is going to be an amazing addition to John's Island and the greater Charleston area!

Google
Wonderful food. Good service. The two tops in the corner were a little tight but we still enjoyed our time there. Tuna tartare was our favorite! Update: after the reopening I am even more impressed! The teriyaki bowl was delicious, so excited to have great hibachi style food on the island. Also got a few rolls that were great! Wish the ginger dressing was a little thinner but flavor was on point. Glad to have y'all back.

Google
We had an absolutely amazing experience here! Our waitress was unbelievably attentive and so friendly and sweet! She also was knowledgeable about every item on the menu and were all the shellfish came from! All of the food and drinks were amazing! They had a great selection of food, especially if you love seafood. The chef also came out at the end of our meal to meet us, which was such a nice gesture. Highly recommend!

Google
For a truly fantastic seafood experience, with a very inviting atmosphere and service, then Blu Oyster Sushi & Seafood is the venue to go to. Our server Rachel was extremely attentive and very helpful with explaining the menu. With a wide array of assorted seafood and land lover dishes, you'll never go wrong with whatever your palate is savoring for. Top shelf coctails, wines and a a nice craft beer selection to pair with any meal. Great food, service, prices, and overall experience were all perfect! Keep up the great work 👍🏽 👏🏽!

Google
Rob was an outstanding server! He suggested the Dragonfruit sake drink and it was delicious. He was very knowledgeable and the service and food were impeccable. We did miss out on the crab legs special but hopefully they will be in stock next time we visit.

Yelp
Our final meal at a wonderful place. You will be SORELY missed. Inside was packed with many enjoying their final week of Blu Oyster's good food. We sat in the patio which was a tad chilly but food made it just right. Adult beverages, Oysters, She crab soup, Calamari, Fried shrimp and Seafood pasta. It was all DELICIOUS. Service was excellent as always. So long & farewell. Best wishes! Thank you for all of the birthday and anniversary celebrations and just plain good night out and enjoying GOOD food with friends and family. We love Y'all

Yelp
Food is over rated and expensive Service is below par Would not recommend Went for lunch and ordered a salad that had sand on or grit on the lettuce leaves. Was not offered another and sent the inedible salad back. I assumed it would not be on the bill. I was wrong. Never again.

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
Half price regular sushi rolls and wine night! My girlfriends and I had a blast! The sushi was very good. I recommend the tuna maki. The spicy salmon was just ok. I am excited to go back on a Monday when the half price specialty rolls are featured. A beautiful ambiance with glowing piranha heads adoring the walls behind us haha. The service was just mediocre. The waitress didn't check in on us often or refills our waters and we were there for quite some time.

Telisha T.

Yelp
If you didn't know about Blu Oyster here's your sign to go sip, bite and taste everything! I'm a seafood lover so this was an absolute treat! The Blu Baked Oysters has crab mornay, parmesan, chives, lemon are an absolute must! It was hard to make a decision for the entree. I decided to go with the Lobster Cioppino it has mussels, clams, oysters, white fish, shrimp, gochujang, fumet and a toasted baguette. I was not disappointed. Oh and let's talk about dessert. They have Banana Pudding Cheesecake it has Vanilla wafer crust, salted caramel cream cheese frosting, and brûléed banana. Y'all!!!! This was a deliciously good time! My favorite sip was the "Jack Rabbit" with High Wire Hat Trick Gin, Meletti Amaro, House Made Ginger Carrot Juice, Turmeric and Fresh Lemon . I can't wait to go back I already know what I'm ordering next time. Follow along with me on instagram @sipbiteandtasteit for more foodie finds.

Yelp
Seems the service and food have gone down in quality. Everything we requested this visit, came from someone other than our server. We were a table of 5 seated in a comfy booth. One of our party kept having water dripping on them from the air con system condensation. When brought to their attention, they said "yeah that spots leaks when it's humid". Then maybe don't seat someone there? Place wasn't full so we could have sat elsewhere. Saw what we assume to be manager, focused mainly on visiting with the young hostesses, this place was fire for awhile. Not a go to anymore.

Jason J.

Yelp
Very very slow service despite it being only 10% full. The place was pretty cold too on a February afternoon despite us wearing sweaters and jeans. The baked oysters were delish and our sushi rolls were good, but based on the service and how cold it was we won't be back. The spicy mayo and fake siracha aren't good.

Lurine J.

Yelp
I hate writing bad reviews. The oysters were 5 stars they tasted amazing. Baked and one halfshell. The overall look of the place is 5 stars as well. Why 3 stars? Our service was awful! We had to look for our waitress twice! She seemed nice enough. However, the waiting her missing in action multiple times, was not a good experience. The restaurant was very cold as well! I was not impressed with how cold they kept it. I was dressed in jeans and a sweater. I don't understand the delay in our food. We only ordered a roll and an app that's it. Won't be returning and I would not recommend.

Emily S.

Yelp
I really enjoy this place! A friend of mine is moving to John's Island so we've spent some time over there getting his new house ready and have ended up at Blu twice in the past couple of weeks. The service is great and the ambiance/decor is so cute--but the menu is truly one of the best parts, there is definitely something for everyone-even seafood haters. The mussels are delicious, as are most of the sushi rolls and other apps. We had the lobster poutine which was great, though I think I'd prefer the lobster to be in pieces and less shredded. I had the spicy tuna crispy rice last night knowing that I order that at every restaurant and while it was good, there are definitely better options in the area for this dish. All in all a great place that has a ton of options--will definitely be back here often!

Yelp
Blu Oyster is a classy gem on Johns Island. It brings international flavor intertwined with Charleston, South Carolina lowcountry culinary tradition. Upon entry, it takes you on a trip back in time with a retro vibe. The sushi bar makes you feel like you are at a 1950s soda fountain shop or 50s diner. When the guests are greeted by the friendly staff, a classic Cadillac front end meets the eye. The background soundtrack has good tunes. The music is at a good level. The atmosphere blends new school with old school seamlessly. Blu Oyster is very accommodating for gluten allergies and celiac. There are many gluten free options including a signature fried seafood platters. The seasoned fries are awesome. The cuisine is a delicious and eccentric delight. The Asian Fusion includes a combination of sushi and seafood. The seafood can be fried, seered, or raw.

Amy H.

Yelp
Decent variety of oysters. If you come between brunch and dinner hours (3pm-5pm) note that only the raw bar is served! The sushi was good but definitely overpriced at almost $20 a row.

Amy D.

Yelp
I would drive miles for this food. To say it was good would be like saying the sun is dim. It was amazing. It was so good, we actually went every night we were in the area for dinner. Each item I tried was equally amazing.

Max M.

Yelp
Some people say that you should actually eat your dessert first before your meal. With that in mind how about a review that starts with the dessert? Ours (2 spoons) was ice cream with a slighter vanilla bean taste, a single mint leaf sticking into the top of the ice cream which was mounted on top of a somewhat large apple crumble pie. Our waitress was a bubbly one named Autumn. She continually, but unobtrusively, was checking with us and engaged in a light, but interesting conversation with my wife. Autumn was also handling other tables with aplomb, including a large set of folks in the large screened in exterior dining area. The meal for us was sushi (yes, an oyster and seafood restaurant serves sushi!), with my favorite is the $18 "Johns Island"--appropriate as that is where this place is located off of Maybank Highway. Obviously, raw fish, but also with cream cheese blended in and small (cooked) shrimp at either end. This restaurant is not inexpensive, in fact the lowest cost for a bottle of Chardonnay is $63 and thus we do not imbibe, here anyway. My wife likes the food, the service and the ambience, as do I, so here we were!

Symone L.

Yelp
The best menu items were the fried oyster deviled eggs and those fried shrimp were perfect. My mother had the platter that included the flounder which was also really good. The drinks were nice. The staff was super friendly and I can't wait to return.

Mack W.

Yelp
My shrimp and grits was really good I would like the recipe but my partner's potatoes were partly raw, and it took a very long time for the food to arrive [30 minutes]. I think our waitress had left. It was also very expensive for the simple food we had. There were few people in the restaurant at noon. Perhaps the cook had not arrived. Not recommended.

Hope S.

Yelp
Have been multiple times, but wanted to do a special review of brunch menu and 1/2 sushi night. Enjoyed a lovely celebratory birthday brunch with a group. No wait. Unique mimosa pairings offered in flights. Sushi night is also great. All of the specialty roles 1/2 price.

Yelp
Blu Oyster is a seafood and sushi restaurant located on Johns Island. My husband and I had lunch at Blu Oyster on Sunday. The restaurant is beautifully designed. Very elegant and sleek. They offer dine in and carryout and have a fully stocked bar. We were seated quickly. We chose to eat in the outdoor area. This area was gorgeous! Nice beautiful seating with a ceiling for shade and one wall was covered with a clear curtain to protect against wind and rain. There were several televisions available to watch sporting events. Our waitress was excellent. She was personable and knowledgeable about the menu. She told us that all the food was made fresh on site. I opted for the spicy Tuna roll and my husband had a crab omlette with fresh greens salad. We shared! The crab omlette was made with 4 eggs and a generous portion of shredded lump crab meat. The flavor was incredible. I also tried a few bites of the greens salad. Wow! The homemade ginger dressing was a delight. Very light and delicate with a hint of ginger, citrus and honey. This dressing really complimentes the greens. In fact I told our waitress and the manager how much I enjoyed the dressing. The spicy tuna roll had eight pieces of delicious tuna. It was served with ginger and Wasabi. The food was fresh and very good. The ambiance and decor are very upscale. The staff was very welcoming and was the icing on the cake. I will be back again and again!

Bill M.

Yelp
We were looking for a place that offered brunch, and we ended up at the Blu Oyster Restaurant. We were welcomed immediately upon entering. We had a choice of inside or outside seating. It was such a beautiful day, we chose outside. The restaurant was not really busy, so we were able to place our order right away. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I ordered the 4 egg omelet with crab meat. That also came with a mixed green salad. The food was a little pricey, but everything was delicious! I would recommend this restaurant.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Remember to order extra bread early in because it takes a while when you get the curry muscles- though maybe the bread comes out faster now than it used to. Today we had the muscles. Blu Southen Fried Platrer with the grouper, grilled whole snapper 'coco' from the fish board, and sushi- with tuxedo cake a la mode for dessert. We also had the Vino Verde. It was all delicious!! I would do it all again- maybe try the grilled fish with a different preparation just to see. I liked the Coco and could do it again- very flavorful with an interesting selection of grilled veggies but was the sauce cream based? I'm not sure. Ask for Katie- she is knowledgeable and efficient plus brought sunshine to our meal- thanks Katie!!

Yelp
I don't care what anyone else says, we LOVED our meal and experience here! We made a reservation for inside as it's record heat right now. We were seated quickly when we arrived. The place is larger than you think with a combination of booths, high tops and really comfy bar seats. We came in thinking of getting the seafood tower but there were so many amazing dishes we decided to mix and match. We started with the blue crab dip comes with a toasted baguette. Tasted like an exceptional artichoke spinach dip but didn't get much crab flavor. Still really good (we cleaned the plate). Then we got fresh oysters (1/2 price house oysters on Wednesday) comes with a good variety of sauces and toppings. Baked oysters were fantastic-highly recommended. fried oysters deviled egg were good too. Peel and eat shrimp another winner (huge meaty shrimp and plenty for the price), and fried shrimp. Breading is light and doesn't overpower the shrimp at all. Sweet and sour cauliflower another Hit! Brussels were a disappointment, not very flavorful but cooked correctly (didn't stop us demolishing them). We had to take home dessert - banana pudding cheesecake. Doesn't travel well -suggest saving room cause it's to die for! Overall an amazing meal. Special shout out to Keelie our server. Sorry if I mis-spelled your name but she was a fantastic server. Super attentive and gave great advice to ensure we loved our meals. Will be back soon!

Jessica K.

Yelp
We decided to try this restaurant tonight on a whim and it was a great decision. When we walked in we were greeted by the hostess who was so pleasant. I was surprised at how big and open the restaurant was as it appeared small and dark from the outside. We opted to eat on the outdoor covered patio. It was a beautiful night and it was a perfect setting for a delicious meal. I loved the decor throughout restaurant and the privacy screens to block the main road. My son ordered a tuna tartake role and he was very happy with the roll and how tender the tuna was. I ordered the coco scallops and was so impressed with how tasty the sauce and veggies were/. The server was friendly and efficient. The manager came out to check how our meal was which I appreciated. She was very personable and helpful to server. We also had the blueberry lavender zero proof drinks and they were so yummy. I have this restaurant 5 stars because not only was the food amazing but the staff were all so pleasant and professional. The restaurant was clean and trendy. Great location and plenty of parking. Will definitely be back again on next visit.

Rachel G.

Yelp
This is the real deal on Johns Island. It's classy but casual with plenty of seating options. We opted for the patio on a beautiful spring day for happy hour and happy it was. We had a couple of domestic bottles of beer and a dragonfruit sparkling mojito and calamari (our waitress informed us that they were famous for it and now we understand, it was amazing!!) and the tuna tartare. We opted for 4 classic rolls as well: California roll, crunch roll, ebi shrimp roll, and spicy tuna roll. (Can you say happy hour pros?) anyway, this experience was great and proved a proper date night here will be in our future. (Their dessert menu looked amazing as well and we were informed their pastry chef makes them fresh daily!! We will plan better next time!)

Cinthia P.

Yelp
we made reservations for Blu Oyster last night and at no time were we told that they were going out of business and working with limited staff and menu offerings. To say that we were disappointed is a major understatement. Almost everything we wanted to eat was unavailable and even some things on the limited menu were already sold out at 5:15 pm. There were no specials, no special prices, no discounts and the $44 bottle of wine we ordered was terrible but when we said it was poor at the first sip and that it had no legs, depth or true flavor our waiter did nothing but apologize. we offered our best wishes and sad feelings over their closing to the Chef's wife upon leaving and she was rude.

Julia K.

Yelp
Wowza!!!! What a sublime meal! I came to munch on their brunch menu with a bunch of my favorite family members to celebrate a birthday and our love for each other. I had been to Blu Oyster one time before about a month ago and have been thinking of it ever since. Half because the food was so good and half because of the very specific and captivating art instillation of little piranha faces (see image below, or just email me and I'll send you all the pictures I took) My Uncle is not a fan of them because he sat directly in-front of it and by the time his stomach was full he felt like his brain was being torn apart by the little fishes razor blade teeth and dead eyes. I enjoyed it though! I've never seen it in a restaurant before and thoroughly enjoyed the little critters. OK OK OK now for the food. We got oysters to start and inhaled them immediately. So sweet so fresh so briny. 10/10 exactly how I want to start every morning. UGH I'm thinking about it now and I wish I had oysters in my grubby little girl hands instead of my phone typing this review. I don't know what I'm talking about I could totally order more because I'm sitting in the restaurant typing this instead of conversing with my family. I ordered the BLU Biscuits and Gravy and they brought it right to my table. I love when restaurants do that!!!!!!! I also tried my daddy-o's oyster hash and it was lush. That is the only way I can describe it. If you remember from earlier, precious reader, we were celebrating a birthday. So we received a free dessert! It was a coconut sorbet. COCONUT. SORBET. Are you kidding? No. They were not. FROSTING. It had the consistency of freaking frosting. I can never go back to anything else! Overall a very gratifying experience of food, family time, and frosting!

Monica T.

Yelp
We had an evening reservation for a Friday night. The bar and dining tables remained ~90% the whole night but the noise level remained normal. For starters, we ordered the Oyster Deviled Eggs, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Calamari. The Calamari was made GF and mixed with peppers, corn, and some sort of chili sauce - such a yummy combination! The sushi was nice and fresh - next time I visit I will definitely try one of their specialty sushi rolls. I ordered the Blu Bucatini (pasta with scallops, shrimp, clams, crab velouté, topped with parmesan) and O-M-G W-O-W. Sooooo good!!!! If you love seafood, you NEED to order this. The kitchen does not skimp on the amount seafood in the dish (unlike other places!). The dish is big enough for leftovers - lucky you, you'll have lunch for tomorrow! Bonus points for Blu Oyster because they offer Gluten Free options for the majority of items on their menu -- just ask your server!

Lyssa C.

Yelp
So let me start this by saying I am gluten free and I couldn't have felt more safe and taken care of. I have been two times in last 30 days and wish I had found sooner. Keely my server was one of the best servers I have had in years. We started with the wings which were so unique in flavor with the bbq and peanuts and we couldnt stop eating them. The calamari was unlike any I have ever had. The corn and poblanos mixed it added some much flavor. I was dying for fried oysters since I could get fried seafood and they did not disappoint! Huge portion size. My mother got the pork chop with a squash puree and spinach and loved her dish , took home half and said it was just as good day too! This restaurant is very open with industrial and coastal vibes. There is a large bar and also a bar I think they do sushi or raw bar at, lastly a patio that currently has heaters out there for comfort. Majority of the tables are high tops so if that is an issue, note that in your reservation!

Richard V.

Yelp
Unfortunately this restaurant has closed permanently. It was a nice casual place with excellent seafood. Very sad.

Peter A.

Yelp
Went on 1/2 price sushi night and really enjoyed it. Our waitress was great and everything we had was good. Would recommend and hope to be back when in the area again.

Shayla V.

Yelp
Impromptu date eve/night! And it was our first time here, though we've wanted to try for a really long time... YUM! The Caesar salad had anchovies and there was a slight kick, to some... I thought it was fantastic! As for my drink, same slight kick, but oh so flavorful. The seafood was wicked fresh! And it was the first time we've had a tower where there's been nigiri, sashimi and rolls involved, it was cool to have the variety and more filling! Blu Seafood Tower* Oysters, Clams, Shrimp, Whole Lobster, 2 Specialty Sushi Rolls, Chef Select Nigiri &Sashimi A Snappy Tuna* Tuna, masago, golden micro onion, cucumber, topped with snapper, chili aioli, jalapeno Scallywag Roll* Tuna, avocado, golden micro onions, cucumber, topped with tempura fried scallop, sesame chile aioli JI Fog Smoked tequila, pineapple liqueur, jalapeño, salted pineapple, tajin rim

Stephan C.

Yelp
Another great experience! It was simply lunch. The nigiri was very fresh and the chef's choices were just perfect. My wife had their tempura shrimp roll and loved it! I had a nice draft beer from Low Tide that was great before the meal. We sat outside in their covered dining area. It was beautiful! Loved the wait staff. Very friendly. This will certainly be our go to.

SR C.

Yelp
Spectacular food and service. My 13 yr old grandson and I were shopping for a few groceries and walked by the supermarket sushi display. He told me that he liked sushi and mentioned that he had never been to a real sushi restaurant. Blu Oyster to the rescue. We found ourselves dressed in an elegant but mostly empty restaurant and dressed in sweats. Our semi-homeless look was actually at the median of the three occupied tables on a late Friday afternoon. Regardless of our dress, we received tuxedo service. We had been shopping for a few odds and ends and were on a tight leash, under orders to get home quickly because grandfather2 was delivering a large and heavy Christmas present shortly. I told Regan, our server that we had 30 minutes to dine and heard her explain it to the kitchen. And they did their part - we made it back about 3 min late. Grandfathered 2, however, was 2hr late which made me truly regret our rushing our lunch. Grandson was worried about the "spicy" tuna and ordered a gorgeous sushi prep with tuna not labeled spicy. Due to our perceived rush, Regan brought his order as soon as it was completed, while apologizing . I explained to my grandson that fine dining required everyone to be served simultaneously. My "Level I" nigiri sashimi was delivered 1-2 min later and he had largely demolished his food by that time. And then, by invitation, he tore into mine . He learned that "spicy tuna" was well within his tolerance. I added a picture of my dish. For scale, I think it's on a 12-inch platter. We waaround the deserted restaurant looking at their local art, the board showing the provenance of their four raw oysters, and the four fish species used for sashimi. We watched a chef portioning beautiful tuna loins. The wine list is fine and the prices reasonable. We will be going back. After hearing about our experience my raw food hating daughter looked at the menu and declared she and my picky granddaughter could eat there, too

Frank G.

Yelp
I'm not a sushi person. This place is a lot more than that. Many options to order from. The Blu Bucatini was fantastic. Plenty of seafood, noodles etc. a treasure. Soups are very good. Nice accommodating people, clean bright place. The four of us were there for 3 hours enjoying this place. A must on your list. Mike was a gracious host and catered to our every need. Frank G

Isabella C.

Yelp
Fish is fresh, service is slow. Do not get the deviled eggs (fried oysters on top were ew and the eggs were weirdly sweet)!! Tuna tartare was so close to being good but the chips were too crumbly and tasted like they had been fried in old oil. The vibes in the establishment are chill. Please bring back miso soup!!

Panayota E.

Yelp
This place is beautiful, the vibes are great, there is plenty of seating inside and out and the service is always good! I love the food so much! My favorite is the seafood bucatini pasta dish, i get it every time! This place is pretty family friendly too, id recommend sitting outside for young ones

Victoria B.

Yelp
Have been to Blu Oyster more times in the past few weeks than I have any other establishment. Johns Island needed a hip, trendy place you could pop into for happy hour, a drink, or a quick bite - and Blu Oyster delivers. I have also brought family here, met friends, and would consider this a great date spot. I've now sat at the sushi bar, regular bar, and received table service and all of the above exceeded expectations. In my most recent visit, our server Chris offered a personal touch and his own recommendations that added to the experience. I would 10000% recommend the oyster carpaccio - the ingredients offer the perfect balance of sweet and savory, and portion was generous for an appetizer. The sushi is consistent and fresh. This may be my favorite spot on Johns Island! I will certainly be back - probably this week haha.

Ted J.

Yelp
Very poor service. We were ignored and treated poorly by the bartender/waitress. The food took over an hour to come out and the sushi sat on the counter for 15+ minutes while we waited for our dinner. No reason or apology was given by the manager. Service is not their top priority. Too bad, it used to be a nice place to go. Ted J.

Cam A.

Yelp
I have tried sushi twice at this place and ordered the same thing both time , each time they were made different. A spicy tuna roll , which you would think is simple. First time, roll had NO spice , I actually broke it apart to show them , after a little discussion my wife just said let it go , second time ordered the same thing, spicy tuna roll , this time it had green onion, avocado tuna and still no hot anything. Maybe their special rolls are different, but if you can't make simple roll I'm not sure . All the other items we have had there are good, just no my place for sushi.

Ken K.

Yelp
Get the octopus and calamari! The service is excellent along with the menu. I look forward to my next visit! The red wine was also excellent!

Andrew G.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great night out on Johns Island, look no further than the Blu Oyster. From the minute you walk in, the staff is super friendly and treats you like you're somewhere special. That plus the super knowledgeable and nice wait staff leads to a very good classy environment feel. The food was all fantastic, little pricey, but you can see why. Calamari was super tender, tuna tartare was solid (I'd probably try something else next time) and the sushi was really good! Happy hour specials are good and make it more affordable but such a great place, look forward to coming back!

Julie B.

Yelp
Had a great dinner here. Delicious blackened fish. Calamari was a table favorite, and fries were delicious. Some of us ordered sushi, which they loved, and fish n chips were great too.

Mary D.

Yelp
Excellent service and great selection of fresh seafood. Well prepared and so delicious. Wine selection was good. The oysters were a delight!

South Riding M.

Yelp
OMGOODNESS! I am gluten free and it's been forever since I could eat anything fried. They use rice flour to fry in so the menu was my oyster! I had fried shrimp and fish. It was absolutely delicious. If you are gluten free this is your place. Nice selection to choose from.

Brittany B.

Yelp
We ate at Blu Oyster for a Saturday night double date out. The place was very nice & clean. We made reservations online & had no problem being seated when we arrived. We ate outside on their back patio. We ordered Calamari which was absolutely delicious. We also had green apple Saki- yum! For our main dishes, we had fried platters, a sushi roll and the Scallops Fuoco. Everything was delicious, but I did not care for the Spanish risotto that came with the scallop dish. (The scallops were perfect, but the risotto seemed as if it were not cooked thoroughly. I did not bring this to the attention of the waitress bc it was not that big of a deal to me since everything else was spectacular )

Cynthia D.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants on Johns Island! The sushi is always so fresh. My favorite is the crispy rice tuna negri, see photo, sorry I got too excited and started eating before I could snap the picture when it arrived at the table.. I can literally eat here every day and have something different and equally amazing. Tuna tartar, kimchi fried rice so good! It's also a great place for brunch the bloody mary bar, never disappoints, and you must try the brunch favorite the oyster hash! The Blu Oyster is the best kept Johns Island secret!

Mark B.

Yelp
The Food was amazing from the Lobster Ciopinnio to the she Crab Soup. Easily accommodated a party of seven. Our host was friendly and very helpful with menu choices.

Yelp
They made us sit outside when it was 108 and we had reservations and we had a one month old baby. There were tables available Inside the whole time we were there. And they would not even open the plastic covers they had around the patio to let air in. Most ridiculous thing I have ever experienced. If it had been up to me I would have left immediately. Would Never return for sure. And the food was meh.

Yelp
Wow Blu Oyster on John's Island is a happening spot!! Been here a few times now over last 3 months. Hey Sushi and Seafood options here are incredible!! Get the Steamed Buns with Pulled Pork for an appetizer, delicious!! Now if you are not feeling like pork then go with Sushi for an appetizer. The Fried Seafood is great, you have options either 1, 2 combo, or 3 combo of shrimp, fish, oysters! My favorite Entre is the the Scallop Dinner, this is the best Scallops I have ever, all of the flavors work to perfection!! Oh then dessert #1 is the Chocolate Cake, OMG sublime!! Easy 5 Stars !!

Yelp
I love this spot! We came on a Wednesday night and sat at the bar which is the best seat in the house in my opinion. They have some good happy hour specials and lots of oyster options! See my pics to see what we got :) Looking forward to coming back!!

Yelp
We visit Johns Island frequently and this was our first dining experience here. Honestly the best dining experince we have had recently. Service was excellent! The entrees, which included sushi, fried and grilled seafood, and were excellent as well as the dessert. I would definitely recommend Blu Oyster to anyone wishing to dine in the area.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food, no bad comments about that... However I will say that I have definitely had better sushi at lower prices. I understand the craft and the freshness play into a factor, but all of them close to $20 a roll is a bit much. Food 5 Star, Prices 4 Star.
