I was really intrigued with the idea of a student run restaurant. I had checked out the restaurant from the outside after a football game and I was surprised to see how fancy it was inside. I returned the following week during my day off to have a solo lunch here.
I went here around 1 PM, and it was pretty empty. I was greeted by a student who also took my order. I can definitely sense the nervousness so it would be wise to be patient when interacting with them (this is a learning experience for them, after all). I was surprised to see how cheap the food was here, with most plates being around $6-$7! Because I wanted to try as much as I can, I ended up getting the shrimp taco plate and the short rib taco plate, resulting in 4 tacos and a bunch of homestyle chips with aioli sauce. I was really surprised to see how good the tacos were, as well as the chips! I ended up eating everything, hehe. I would love to try more of their items, especially their breakfast which include sandwiches, tacos, and smoothies. During my meal, students as well as their teachers/supervisors came to check up and see if I needed anything.
While paying my bill, it was a bit awkward since there was a technical difficulty which was all good with me because I understand its a learning experience. Oh, I also got a cookie to go, which was pretty good. Overall, not only I was impressed with the food but I was happy to see such a cool student run restaurant/culinary program at Allen High School.
