"After a pop-up at Lao’d Bar in April, Austin’s first Cambodian food truck has set up full-time on South Lamar. Blue Apsara is serving spicy Khmer sausage, prahok ktis, num pang sandwiches with pork belly, and other specialties that are hard to find around town." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

If you enjoy bold Southeast Asian flavors, you should visit this place. I've tried everything on the menu and loved it all. They offer several options, but every dish is like a comforting home-cooked meal. My favorites are the Papaya Salad, the Cambodian Beef Sticks, and Prahok Ktis. They are a small, family-owned business that is very kind and thoughtful. I love coming here to get takeout. There are also some picnic tables and seating inside the plant shop if you prefer to eat there.

Absolutely fantastic! The owner is super nice and very helpful! The food is among the best I've had in a while regardless of type or even price. The flavors are just so delicious. The pork, cucumber, cilantro, sauces - everything just mixes wonderfully together! The truck is in a great little spot with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Also the trucks graphic design is really nice and is what originally caught our eye - a pretty blue food truck with art and large print letting us know it Cambodian cuisine! I cannot recommend this spot enough! So good.

Blue Apsara serves delicious, hand-made Cambodian food on the corner of S Lamar and Mary st. We had the Apsara steak set, which was tender and flavorful - served with rice. The Cambodian chicken curry was amazing, too! Large-cut potatoes and carrots with chicken that melts in your mouth. We ordered 2 papaya salads to go with our dinner and they were the best I’ve ever had. Everything was super fresh and made to order, spiced and sauced beautifully. You will be hooked once you try this food. Go see the owner, Kim, he’s friendly and fun to chat with! :)

I’m a Cambodian American, meaning my parents escaped the Cambodian genocide, and I was born in the States. Growing up, I remember family dinners and large family/friends gatherings with delicious assortments of Cambodian food. I’ve moved away from most of my family and always miss Cambodian home cooking. Kim, the Khmer owner, is very kind and courteous. I enjoyed the curry, which brings nostalgic memories of my childhood. We had the sandwich, which was my wife’s favorite. The fried egg rolls were delicious, crispy, and meaty. Beef sticks with sticky rice were tasty with a hint of lemon grass seasoning on the beef, which I’ve missed eating since I was young. I recommend trying it out if you haven’t had Cambodian food before. My wife and I will definitely be going back. Extremely grateful for Kim creating such a delicious menu 🙏 and reminding me of my childhood. Thank you

I had no idea what to expect as we had never had Cambodian food. The owner was so sweet- he asked if we had ever had Cambodian food and we said no and he said welcome to Cambodia! lol. The food was fantastic. The chicken curry was excellent and the weeping tiger (beef) outstanding. We also got the appetizers - spring roll and egg rolls which were perfectly prepared as well. We got it all to-go- nice packaging. He said they are adding things to the menu but they had a good selection- I love chicken curry so was glad they had that on the menu- the chicken was shredded and the potatoes in it cooked perfectly. The Weeping Tiger (I did not try, it's spicy) but my husband said was amazing. Def recommend.

I’ve have been waitinggg for a Cambodian spot since moving to Austin years ago! The beef sticks were flavorful. Love the Tiger Steak, the fish, curry and spring rolls. So good I had to get it twice in one week.

Google
First time trying Cambodian cuisine and I'm in love!! I ordered the Cambodian Beef Sticks and my buddy ordered the Cambodian Chicken Curry. Both were absolutely delicious! The owner of Blue Apsara is super kind and friendly, especially for those new to Cambodian food. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Google
I discovered Blue Apsara walking my dog this morning. I looked at the menu and while a lot of unfamiliar dishes were on there (I don’t think I’ve had Cambodian food before), I saw some items that look familiar and tasty. I ordered takeout for dinner and got the beef sticks with mango sticky rice and egg rolls. The beef sticks were so flavorful and delicious. I especially enjoyed the lemongrass flavor. My only complaint is that I wish it came with more sticks because they’re so good! I love sticky rice but I never get the mango kind. Honestly I couldn’t taste the mango so that was fine by me. Some extra sauce to pour on the rice would be good too. The egg rolls were fresh and tasty. I will definitely be back and need to try more dishes. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Since getting to Austin, I had not been able to find Cambodian food, until a few days ago, when I noticed the Blue Apsara food truck when I was driving on South Lamar. Today, I had lunch there, and it satisfied my craving. I had spring rolls and the fish amok. Both were excellent. The owner, Kim, is very friendly and was happy to make recommendations, though I arrived knowing what I wanted. The food wash fresh and met my taste expectations. There is ample seating both outdoors (it was a perfect day for that) and inside the plant store that shares the parking lot. I hope that the food truck will be such a success that they will eventually move to brick and mortar which will allow them to broaden their offerings. In the meantime, I will eat here often. As an added bonus, Desnudo is also in the parking lot. Not only was the miso brown sugar latte delicious, but it seems that Austin has the nicest baristas west of the Mississippi, if not in the whole country.

Yelp
Super friendly people and DELICIOUS food! I got the number 11 sandwich and it's one of the best sandwiches I've had! 10/10 Plenty of seating outside and inside! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Yelp
This meal did NOT disappoint!! I wish I could eat it every day. My husband and I shared the Taste of Cambodia and it was the perfect amount of food - we didn't finish it all, but every bite was absolutely delicious. The owner gave us tips on how best to enjoy which was super nice. We sat at the picnic tables nearby and didn't wait long at all for our food. Will definitely come back again and again for the egg rolls and Prahok K'tis was my favorite -- so flavorful!!

Yelp
I love supporting small businesses especially when they are serving such delicious food in a cuisine that you really don't find here in Austin! Blue apsara is an incredible Cambodian food truck that serves authentic and delicious food! It is located next to a plant shop where there are a couple tables to enjoy your food (if you choose not to drive it back home!) I highly recommend ordering the taste of Cambodia as we were able to sample the greatest hits the food truck has to offer! It came with egg rolls, which were cooked perfectly crispy and was accompanied with sweet and spicy sauce! It also came with the beef sticks, which the beef was marinated perfectly and went so good with the rice. The Khmer-Lao sausage was also incredibly done! The star of the meal though, was the Prahok K'tis which is a very authentic Cambodian dish. This alone is worth trying! It's spicy and funky in the best way possible. We also tried Nom Pahng Pate, which is similar to a Banh Mi! It was really good and I enjoyed the pate that was inside! Overall, please come and support this incredible food truck!!! There's not a lot of Cambodian places in Austin, so it really is a hidden gem in trying new cuisines from all around the world!

Yelp
I tried the beef sticks combo that came with papaya salad and sticky rice. It was meticulously prepared and cooked to perfection. My taste buds came alive with Southeast Asian flavors. I'm looking forward to trying their other offerings!

Yelp
The first Cambodian food truck in Austin, TX. We went to eat and we were not disappointed. The food is authentic and we will return! The owner Kim is very nice and pleasant

Yelp
JUST saw this new food truck at Mary and South Lamar (right by the urban motorsports shop, on the right if heading south). It's about a mile south from the river/downtown. Cambodian options are extremely limited in this town so I was thrilled and I immediately made an order and was not disappointed! First I will say that the food here is extremely tidy. Perfectly formed and "neat" presentation. I ordered the eggrolls which were perfectly formed thumb sized crunchy Yummies. I got the Nom Pahng pate sandwich which is one of two "banh mi adjacent" sandwiches they offer. It was fresh and the tasty and the baguette was perfect, which is a real feat considering it is pissing rain right now. I also got the weeping tiger steak which is nice chunks of steak and a great dipping sauce. It's the most simple of the dishes I ordered but tasty and solid. I look forward to trying out the rest of the menu and bringing my friends! They don't yet have online ordering but I was able to call them and put my order in ahead so I didn't have to wait for my takeout order. They have "outdoor seating" under an awning of the plant store that shares the parking lot and advertise "indoor seating" but I did not wait around in the rain enough to investigate that lol.

Yelp
Amazing food truck! Everything is delicious and you HAVE to try the Nom Pahng sandwiches. Kim is a friendly and incredibly nice owner. Please support them! We need more spots like this in South Austin!

Yelp
This is a sweet little spot. Owner Kim is super friendly and cooks everything scratch to order. You can eat in a special room in the plant shop (with AC and lovely big plants), or just wait there/shop until your order is ready. We have really enjoyed the Cambodian chicken curry, egg rolls, prahok k'tis (ground pork and pork belly with rice, pickles and raw veggies on the side), and nom pahng pate (similar to banh mi). Refreshing, interesting flavors, sort of a blend between Thai and Vietnamese (makes sense). So glad this is in our neighborhood!

Yelp
The dish I got was so good. I had the Weeping Tiger Steak. It was so flavorful and the beef was perfectly tender. 10/10. If you love southeast Asian flavors like Thai, Viet, and Lao, you will love this place. The husband and wife owners were so nice! They also rent space in the building they are next to that has tables for you to sit at! It's like a plant place. V cute.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Everything here is insanely good. Egg rolls, spring rolls, and steak are all 10/10. Very friendly too.
