"While the city center may be saturated with chili parlors, Blue Ash Chili caters to the city’s northern suburbs. Their chili packs less heat than other restaurants, but patrons can amp it up with a unique take on the six-way, which includes the addition of fried jalapeno caps. Blue Ash Chili also offers chili lasagna: flour and corn tortillas layered with chili, sour cream, and shredded cheddar. For the truly bold, the No Freakin’ Way Challenge awards a free meal and T-shirt to anyone who can finish a combined 5 pounds of chili and spaghetti topped by another 2 pounds of cheese and 1 pound of jalapenos." - Andy Brownfield

Very tasty food and great prices. This Cincinnati staple is well worth the visit. If you have tried other chili restaurant chains in Cincinnati and didn’t like them, you should try blue ash chili. The service is good as well. I am not originally from Cincinnati and did not grow up eating this style chili, so I’m not biased!

We went 7pm on a Thursday and it was packed so we waited a little while to get seated. Food was very good and service was pretty fast. Our server was Amanda and she was super friendly and helpful. We got Reuben sandwich, Coney Island, PBJ for kids, hot dogs and fries for kids. Then we ordered dessert to take home. We enjoyed the experience. Well done!

Stop 4/11 on the Cincinnati Coney Trail. Blue Ash Chili is a fairly new location, so it’s very modern but retains it old Cincinnati chili parlor feel. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 way and chili cheese sandwich with mustard and onion. The flavor was robust and the consistency was not watery. Loved it! My only upgrade would be steamed hot dog buns. Check it out!

Nice food. Amazing service, I love how the staff works as a team. It’s really refreshing to see. Also, everyone speaks and talks to you. No profiling here from my experience! Its busy so you wait a bit for your food. But its hot when it arrives!

I didn't think I was Cincinnati Chili fan, until I visited Blue Ash Chili! The 6-way was a perfect example of how it should be done. What a great place, quick seating and you don't have one server, you get them all! Everyone is willing to pitch in and help out, and made sure we got what ordered, how we ordered it and were satisfied with our entire visit! Look forward to stopping by again!

I was on a federal deployment for two years in South Texas. I came back home and the first thing I wanted to eat was Blue Ash chili. This was the first time I was in their new building and wow it looks huge. They were very busy but we got right in. I love eating here. The staff there was very friendly helpful and the food was just out of this world loved it loved it loved it. That is what I was waiting for to get back from my deployment is hit last chili right away and I did thank you blue ash chili the food was amazing

Follow me to see what's next! Blue Ash Chili has the best sandwiches! But, dang! It was pricy! My dining companion and I each had a sandwich, fries and dessert. It was $52 + tip! It was a good sandwich, but... Dang! There new Blue Ash location is nice! If you found this review helpful, hit 👍

Love this place! Lots of fun food options. Great service! Loved the pancakes and full plate of bacon. Shakes are tasty. Lovely assortment of cakes and pies for dessert. It has become a local favorite for me.

Yelp
Everything here was high quality. Service was fantastic, good sized menu, and very generous portions. Dessert case looked amazing but we managed to control ourselves and pass. Wish I could try again but I live too far away

Yelp
Stopped in this afternoon to Blie Ash Chili. Restaurant was clean. Staff was very engaging. And attentive. I ordered a 3 way and 2 cheese coneys. Cause if chili is in your name then it must be your specialty right? Food was hot, good and the appearance was good. Price was about what you'd expect for what you order and portion sizes. If I'm ever in the area I might stop back. Would I suggest it? Sure. Would it go out of my way to return? Probably not. It's not one of those things I would say could be a regular destination for me. But, if you're in the area give it a try.

Yelp
My grandson is a fan of this place. He likes that he can get a PB&J and fries. We haven't been in awhile and stopped in for lunch recently. My grandson had his PB&J. My daughter a Turkey and Roast Beef Skinny Double and I ordered a new sandwich, the Chopped Italian. We also ordered the Gravy Cheese Fries to share. The Chopped Italian is too awkward to eat. It's the type of bun and how they cut it that is the problem. Most of the food fell out, the bread is very hard and very dry. Overall, the whole sandwich was surprising very dry for being an Italian meat sandwich. I wouldn't ordered it again. The service was good, as usual. The food was OK, except for mine. But I can make my grandson a PB&J at home.

Yelp
Just like pizza is different based on the locale, Cincinnati Chili is different than chili in other places. This blend of meat and tomatoes and spices isn't for everyone. Me, I mostly like it. I'm okay with having it annually and being okay. I stopped here because this was a DDD stop and yes, Guy Fieri's picture stands proud on the wall. I arrived at the start of the dinner rush and a lovely young girl took my order and a few minutes later, brought my dinner. I chose the SIX WAY which is a base of spaghetti, topped with chili, chopped onions, kidney beans, shredded cheddar cheese and yes, fried jalapenos. It was absolutely delicious and I managed to avoid wearing any of it. It was also one of the least expensive meals I had all week. [Review 20487 overall - 214 in Ohio - 1467 of 2023.]

Yelp
One of the best for double decker sandwiches. Friends in town sometimes still ask to go there.

Brian S.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I had been to Blue Ash Chili. I had a couple of the cheese coneys and one with the friend jalapeños instead of a hot dog. Chili is very good. I did not love the buns on the coneys. Wound up eating the insides out with a fork. I'd probably go with a 3 way next time or maybe one of the delicious looking sandwiches. The staff was excellent. Great, super friendly service. Everyone watches every table it seems, so we never went more than a few moments without someone at least looking to see if we needed anything. Great family restaurant. Lots of families and groups enjoying a neighborhood institution.

Mark P.

Yelp
I love their coneys. Best in Cincinnati! Their double decked are good and I think that's what they're known for, and being on triple D.

Denny F.

Yelp
What can I say this is a staple of Blue Ash! Whenever I want chili or a custom burger or their home made desserts this is the place! The experience is always great and the staff are always checking in! This has been a great place to grab lunch on the go and make sure you get here as it gets filled up fast!

April H.

Yelp
I love their food! If you like a Reuben sandwich, you'll love theirs. Cooked perfectly, moist, great sauerkraut and dressing. Everything was well balanced and the rye bread was delicious!! Our service was fast. I was with a couple of friends who also raved about their food. Everything came out together and hot. Our server was knowledgable about the menu and was very pleasant despite being super busy. The restaurant itself was very clean, and this is something I notice. I will be going back.

Joseph B.

Yelp
Amazing. Absolutely amazing, down to the last detail. The records on the wall (including the guitar) are all awesome. The ambiance wasn't too bad, could hear our conversation. Service was great. The corned beef with Swiss cheese is the way to go. In my opinion, it's the best thing on their menu.

Samantha L.

Yelp
I love getting my Cincinnati chili when I'm in Southern Ohio but this was my first try at Blue Ash Chili and really enjoyed it! The chili wasn't as spiced (maybe cinnamon-y) as I'm used to for topping spaghetti but the ingredients tasted very fresh and I really like the thick chopped onions. I stopped by for dinner around 7pm on a Thursday and it was packed but service is quick so tables turned over fast. The staff was also very friendly and they move fast so I had a great meal in under half an hour. Perfect because I needed to make my way towards the airport. Overall, I'd recommend getting the cheese coney! It reminds me of a little chili dog and I like more traditional chili on my hot dogs. Plus their mascot is super cute!

Benjy E.

Yelp
We came to Cincinnati and wanted chili. This place was fun, festive, and fun. The chili dishes were delish and the servers were delightful. We were happy we chose Blue Ash over other options.

Cindi R.

Yelp
Another Cincinnati staple. Came in simply to bring back to Cleveland a 5-way and a 6- way chili. Incredible. Just remember they are not open on Sunday's.

Dean S.

Yelp
Ample parking, I've never been to the new store as I used to work down the street and frequent the prior location that's now been leveled. I like this store even though it's in a mini mall shopping area. This store is way more open, tables are comfy and the bathroom is way better. Crew that's working here are all super nice. Our server was very attentive but it seemed like two or three other folks would drop by ask if we needed refills, dishes taken & or additional food? One of our kids told me to try the fried pickle coney? Yep, it's a thing here. I did and I tell you what, if you love all things pickle and pickle chips, you need to try this. It was incredibly tasty. Kudos to whomever brought this item to the menu. The normal coney was okay as I am a snob for another establishment but I'll for sure be back for the pickle coney! I'll bring my pickle loving friends.

Rick C.

Yelp
Blue Ash Chili is always a welcome meal and I've never had a bad meal or service at either location. Saturday we were at the Blue Ash location and although it was busy we were pleased with the service and the food. I had a 5 way and my wife and I had a Reuben. They came out in a timely manner despite all of the tables nearly occupied Great experience as always!

Kelly M.

Yelp
Popped in here for Chili Week and can't stop thinking of that coney with fried jalapeños instead of a hot dog. Man that was so tasty! I also had the coney with fried pickle instead of the hot dog, super tasty, too. Service was quick and friendly. I wish this place was closer to us, but probably better for my waistline that it's not!

Tammi W.

Yelp
Went here for Cincinnati Chili Week. Was crowded and that's always a good sign. This is also a DDD spot and the dill dog is amazing, especially if you add a hot dog to it.

Brandon T.

Yelp
There are tons of chili options in the Cincinnati area and this is the best that I know of. I always make it a point to visit at least once every time I visit Cincinnati. Just outstanding! PS for all restaurants- please consider sanitizing items such as menus and salt/pepper shakers between customers, thanks!

Cynthia S.

Yelp
Great place for Cincinnati chili. The place has expanded significantly since the last visit. I ordered 3way and my partner ordered 5 way with Cincinnati jalapeño caps--very yummy!! We got the delicious pretzel with 3 dips. Pretzel was huge and one of the best German, authentic, pretzels I have had in awhile. Chili was yummy and tasted wonderful. Dessert was a hit with crème brûlée cheesecake, pumpkin cheesecake, and baklava. The baklava was dense and heavier than normal, you should definitely have them heat it up because it's not as good cold. Service is slow, wait staff slow, but bus boy-Juan was fast at clearing tables and keeping tables clean. Ambiance was terrific, but only one bathroom for ladies is a sure downside if you have to go bad? Also, seating takes awhile, but I did like the in/out experience on a nice day, the windows were pulled up. If you have plenty of time and not in a rush, this is a great place to sit and dine. Otherwise, I would pick up and go due to limited seating and bathrooms. Definitely recommend Blue Ash over skyline and gold star. Eat up and enjoy!

Carrie J.

Yelp
Service was great. Not a comfortable atmosphere. An old diner without a pleasant feel. Hard to explain. Not dirty but just didn't look well kept. Tried the food to compare to Slyline and GoldStar - home cooked Cincinnati chile is the way to go. Very little flavor in the chile. Happy we went we will not go back. It's not for us.

Mitch G.

Yelp
The king of Cincinnati style chili. I like the new spot that they have but the old one was just perfect. They have an awesome selection of different types of chilis and hot dogs. We ordered a 5 way with a side of fries.

Christopher F.

Yelp
This is the best of all Cincinnati chili. If you have not been here, I seriously suggest you do so.

Kathy W.

Yelp
That's double-deckers in town and the chili is awesome they go out of their way to accommodate your needs.

Tory B.

Yelp
This is the place for sandwiches, the double decker sandwiches do not disappoint. Every time we come to visit family we have to stop here for a bite. There was a bit of a line to be seated but once your food comes it's easy to understand why. The food is amazing, portions are huge, staff is super friendly and service is quick! Plenty of options on the menu. Next time we're in town definitely will be stopping by and will hopefully have room for dessert!

Mark C.

Yelp
Service is genuine, family run and all employees seem to be part of the family. Had the 5 way, it was outstanding. Went with a friend he had 3 way. He thought it so good he ordered "to go" for his wife and said "I hope she doesn't eat it. I'll have it for lunch tomorrow! The sandwiches looked good on other peoples plates. As good as or better than any other Cincinnati chili. In an upscale strip mall. Interior has a modern diner feel. Over all worth a detour if you are in the area. Has been featured in Diners, Drive inns and dives. I've found that usually causes a place to go down hill. Not here. They seemed to have found a way to remain true to their passion.

Nick J.

Yelp
I'm new to Cincy so the chili was not my thing. It tastes like cinnamon to me. Luckily they give samples which was awesome. Chorizo burger was unique and tasty highly recommend. Service is very very good as well. If you're new to the city this is probably one of the best places to stop in.

Steven E.

Yelp
After a dozen visits here and four other chili joints, we can confidently declare Blue Ash the best Cincinnati area chili. They have a spacious dining area with booths, tables or a counter with a few seats. Of course you could always get it to-go. All the servers bend over backwards to guarantee your satisfaction and the food is outstanding. I am working on trying everything on their menu. Twelve items in, I can say with all honesty everything's been great. READY FOR A CHALLENGE? They start with two and one half pounds of spaghetti, another two and one half pounds of their house chili, top that with two pounds of shredded cheddar and one pound of jalapeño caps. You now have EIGHT POUNDS of yumminess and sixty minutes to finish it. Complete the challenge and it's FREE! You also get a t-shirt and a nod in their hall of fame. Should you fail, you go in the hall of shame and you get the tab; that'll be $49.99 + tax. Wow! The restrooms here are clean; the parking lot is vast. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served six days a week. This is Cincinnati's best. 01/22

Adam G.

Yelp
Love this place! The double deckers are fantastic. The roast beef and egg salad is my go to and it is a seriously delicious sandwich. So many options to choose from. Deserts are delicious as well! Highly recommend.

Rae T.

Yelp
Hands down, the BEST sandwiches in the tristate!! We eat here often and have never been disappointed. Bring your appetite, because the portions are very generous. Today I had a classic Reuben with a side of egg salad. Absolutely amazing!

Nathan M.

Yelp
In Italy, each local city or village can be identified by their local pasta, most of which comes from how they shape their dough. In historically german Cincinnati, the same can be said for Chilli parlors. Historically every small neighborhood had their own chili dive, and they all had their "secret" recipe. Over the years many of the mom and pops gave way to the big two in Cincinnati, but I'm happy to say that Blue Ash Chili has survived and is thriving. BAC moved locations about 1 year ago and has brought with it all of their traditional Cincinnati and comfort based foods, while providing more space with upgraded everything in their new location. I have gone to BAC for the last 15 years, even before Guy Fieri took uncomfortably large bites on DD&D. So why come? It has the classic chili spaghetti that is iconic in these parts, but also offers many other double deckers and great comfort foods. They even offer Goetta, which is another local favorite and also what landed on my sandwich today. Their service is always prompt, the food comes out fast and fresh, and it tastes great. The wait staff have always been friendly and personable. The new booths are very comfortable as well. It's amazing to me that even with more seating than their old place, it is actually more crowded now. That is great for BAC and those like me that enjoy it. Just earned if you come during peak lunch hours you may have to wait a minute. Just look at those pies in the case next to you and dream about dessert until your seated. They are closed on Sundays, which is a bummer BUT I fully support locally owned diners hours.

Carmen A.

Yelp
Decided to treat myself to a Deli sandwich. Based on a suggestion from my brother I ordered take out. Had a Tate for pastrami and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that they made double deckers. Eryn and Tabby were my order takers extroidinaire...the customer service matches the sandwiches. Anything is mostly doable with the exception of dill pickle spears. I ordered 3 double deckers Bacon, Ham and Turkey and of course Pastrami. They were delicious and I was unable to eat the whole sandwich. I had to cut it into fours, and didn't finish it that day. Definitely requires a second visit.

Lori R.

Yelp
Great food and great service. One of our favorite lunch spots. New location is great and accessible. Love the decor!

Bri W.

Yelp
My coworkers and I love coming here for lunch. Such a diverse and reasonably priced menu, everyone gets something they love.

Joe B.

Yelp
A long time staple here in the community great place if you're from out of town Irvin, you need to even guy Fiero visited here

Jessica P.

Yelp
Guys chili was so good. Had a kick to it but doesn't linger long, but almost had a dull sweetness to it s as well topped with onions. The big boy burger was so good as well not greasy at along with the fries. Wish they had these restaurants in my state

Heather L.

Yelp
I checked out the new location of Blue Ash Chili, as they were forced to vacate their original that they had occupied for so many years. I think they did a great job with the new spot. It is spacious and modern, with many nods to the nostalgia. There is plenty of parking and even a little patio with outdoor tables. They have garage doors that open and connect the inside with the the outside. There is an order counter for take out as well as a prepared case. Your choice of booths, tables, and a diner counter are available for dine in. The staff was super nice and took my take out order. I got the chili mac and cheese 5 way style and a Turkey BLT with cheese double decker to split with a friend. We agreed that the chili mac was a bit disappointing. The flavor was there but it was a very small portion and quite greasy. I had this at another place and it was more like the ratio of a normal 5 way. The double decker was awesome and is one of my favorite things on their menu. It is loaded with high quality ingredients. Check out BAC as a great contender in the ongoing chili wars of Cincy!

Jeff B.

Yelp
We eat here often, we always receive good service and the food is great. Today's special was blackened fish tacos. The menu said street style and I assumed a smaller taco - I received 3 well portioned tacos with big chunks of blackened fish topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and Chipotle aioli. These were great tasting and filling. I'd order these again when they are on special. Sorry no pic, they were too tasty and were gone before I thought of getting a picture.

Gary N.

Yelp
Had great breakfast with pancakes, bacon and eggs. Reasonable price bery good food and service!

Laura S.

Yelp
Massive sandwiches, huge slices of cake and chili many ways. You should come hungry for sure. I wanted to eat in house at a busy time and was very concerned about the wait since there was a line. I shouldn't have been, we were seated quickly and service was top notch. We tried some cheese conies, the Manhattan sandwich, a slice of coconut cake and a slice of lemon Italian cream cake. Everything was great. We did get food envy seeing a bit hit another table, so next time that's on our list.

Susan D.

Yelp
I have to say the chili here is better than any other chili place in Ohio. My husband loved his meatloaf plate and even at all his green beans! My salad was fresh, plentiful and delicious. Can't wait to come back!

Teagan H.

Yelp
When I visit Cincinnati I try to go here if I can. I always get the 6 way since can't get that at other Cincinnati chili places. It's unique to Blue Ash. and sometimes add a chili hot dog too. I like it being in a suburb. So many things on the menu, but I stick with the 6 way take on the classic!

Mark B.

Yelp
Neat new building. And a new location. Google directed me here. Early dinner. Soup du jour was broccoli cheddar. Had to give it a try. VERY glad I did. It was very very good. Actually great. Also ordered a double Reuben. OMG. Ate the soup and just a few bites of the massive sandwich which I brought home and will eat tonight My waitress was cute as could be. And multiple others checked on me. Asked for a box for the sammy and was offered to go coke which I declined. Definitely going back

Howard G.

Yelp
Food portions are old school Good quality Friendly service Very busy They hustle Good choice for a quick meal

Barbie C.

Yelp
If you like Cincinnati chili, definitely check this place out. Hell, even if you don't - come for the chicken & waffles. It is my go-to hangover food The service is always great, & the food is as well. The jalapeño bottle caps that you can add to your dish also take it to the next level. Was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives.

Ceil D.

Yelp
Staff always attentive and friendly. Soup is fresh made and very good. The store is always clean.

Mindy H.

Yelp
The menu offers so many options from breakfast to burgers to salads and chili! The restaurant interior is fun. For nice weather, the roller doors can open and there is outdoor seating.

Martin A.

Yelp
Blue Ash Chili was great! It was my first time having Cincinnati chili while being in Cincinnati. I chose this place over the beloved chili chain-restaurant for the "hidden gem" experience, only to later find out a celebrity chef had visited there for a TV episode. The 3-way chili was genuinely delicious and had all the seasonings and textures I expected, but better. I also tried "the lizard," which I thought was a classic coney+fried pickle...but ended up just being a big, fried pickle spear, chili, and cheese. It was a delicious novelty, and oddly, the person that later sat next to me at the bar ALSO ordered "the lizard." I can see why Cincinnati chili can be polarizing, but I can only suggest people try it after doing some recipe research to be aware of the typical spices. Service was great from the whole staff and Elle was a straight up sweetheart to give me Cincy travel points of interest.

Mark S.

Yelp
Goetta free WiFi and chili, what more can you ask for! Love Blue Ash Chili and the wide selection of sandwiches, breakfast items and of course CHILI! Make it a point to stop in if your nearby. We had 3 ways and beef & egg sandwich and both were awesome. Highly recommended!

Patrick F.

Yelp
Does not feel like a very well run place. The issue is service-everyone seems to try to do everything, so there is no consistency or accountability in service. You'll walk in and stand in line, despite tables being open. Multiple staff will look at you, and move in the other direction to do something else. On this visit, we waited 8 minutes to get seated (we were first in line with many open table), 10 minutes to get a menu, and 6+ more minutes to get someone to take our order. Menu tries to be everything to everyone, and it's just okay... not bad, but nothing great. We've tried this place a few times, and it's always been the same bad experience. I'm done.

Josh G.

Yelp
Awesome locally owned little neighborhood Cincinnati style chili joint. Hard to pass up on a six way, the jalapeños are an amazing addition.
