"Blue Bamboo serves traditional Cantonese cuisine, offering a menu that features favorites like stir-fried noodles and fried rice, ideal for sharing. The highlight, however, is the Cantonese-style roasted duck, known for its crispy skin and tender meat. Another standout is the Chinese barbecue spareribs, a testament to chef Dennis Chan’s culinary heritage, prepared from a closely guarded family recipe that once propelled his family’s restaurant to sell 6,000 pounds of ribs weekly. For dessert, the Mandarin orange cake, crowned with cream cheese frosting, offers a perfect end to the meal." - Megan duBois

"Blue Bamboo has been a Jacksonville icon for years, and even though it recently moved to a new location its popular happy hour remains. Every Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. diners can enjoy happy hour at the bar where there is a selection of $5 cocktails and $5 appetizers. The selections change frequently, so diners never know what they are going to get." - Megan duBois

You guys! I'm so excited! Florida "fried rice" is usually yellow and bland, yuck. We just had dinner at Blue Bamboo and they make "Boston-Style Fried Rice" (by request) and it was fantastic! Also most Egg Rolls in Florida are teeny tubes of mush, but this place had crispy rolls full of crunchy vegetables! Seriously can't wait to go back! Note: I found out about the "Boston-Style Fried Rice" because I asked about the Lobster Sauce. The LS is the opaque nasty kind but that's when our server mentioned the fried rice option. *A little pricier than most average places, but read up on their story. Also, the desserts are amazing, we all split a piece of Mandarin Orange Cake, delish!

I wish I hadn’t given so many 5 stars out because this restaurant makes me realize what a 5 star should be. It’s amazing wonderful atmosphere , food quality is exceptional and service is very good . Unique and very well done!

We had a great time there past Saturday night- everything was delicious. Had the lumpia, crispy half duck, beef and broccoli, and the Mandarin orange cake. We will be coming back!

Great atmosphere, drinks are very good, food was delicious, and the service was great. This was our first time at Blue Bamboo and we were very impressed and will be back!

Google
Their saying on the menu is "Chinese Food you eat with a fork and knife," this fits perfectly. I tried the Chow Fun with beef and my bf had the ribs. The flavors were authentic and everything was super juicy and fresh. I really enjoyed the food, the price point was a little higher than expected, but the atmosphere and the service definitely has that fine dining feel.

My boyfriend and I are foodies and came here for a date night, but we were left disappointed overall in the food. We ordered the crab rangoons appetizer, and they were pretty decent. For the entrees we had the chicken fried rice, and two chefs special items: Sichuan eggplant and beef rib noodles. The rice was the best part of the dinner. It had a nice flavor, but a lot of onions. The beef noodles were NOT what I was expecting, and a bit greasy. They came balanced on a styrofoam noodle cup with a rib on top, which although eye catching, did not look so appealing. Neither of us liked the eggplant. The sauce was overwhelming and it didn’t have a good balance of flavor that I am used to with traditional Chinese eggplant dishes. It didn’t look that appetizing either and we could only eat a couple bites and did not take it home. Apart from the food, the restaurant itself was beautiful and had a nice elegant atmosphere. There was some event happening when we arrived as well. The service was also nice, and the waitress was attentive. We were honest about the food, but they were very understanding. Something else I noted was that we had to ask for chopsticks and it took a several minutes for them to hunt some down for us. Didn’t expect that in a Chinese restaurant. In the end we were not very impressed and could have gotten similar food for cheaper at a regular takeout place. Maybe we got the wrong things, and maybe we will come back here if things change, but if you seek more authentic Chinese food like we do, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Blue Bamboo has all the elements of a great restaurant experience. The food is fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared and served. The atmosphere is elegant, yet welcoming, and the staff is well-trained and cordial without being obtrusive. My husband had the Roast Duck on both his visits to Blue Bamboo and he may never try anything else. We had the Crab Rangoons for a starter and they were absolutely delicious and prepared to order. My salad of field greens plus salmon was perfect. Great place for a quiet dinner or a family party. Blue Bamboo is unique to Mandarin for its combination of great food and pleasant, elegant ambiance.

Google
Food was so-so, average tasting. The Sichuan chicken was mostly onion and it was cold. The only tasty dish was the award winning dessert, of orange cake. Atmosphere was very loud and you can hear from all the other tables. The robot server was cool. Chef Dennis was there and he seems very nice. Still looking for tasty Chinese food in Jax.

Yelp
Coming to Blue Bamboo for any celebration is a tradition. The food is alway "close your eyes and just point to anything" because it is alway so good. Tonight is a friend's birthday and here we go. Shrimp and Grits, Ahi Tuna, Kung Pao Tofu with Crab Rangoons and Dragon Whiskers for apps. Yum! I always grab apps so I can take home the entree for later meals. ....anticipation.... The "Social Lubricants" are divine. My dirty martini is perfect with a twist. My friend's Mojito was apparently refillable, fast! The dessert was delish and the service from Mica was attentive and perfect. Kudos. Always reliably fun, delicious and enjoyable . Recommend to anyone with a yearning for fusion Asian foods. Now to get the dim sum back going so I can review that deliciousness!!

Yelp
We have been to Blue Bamboo 3x now. The first experience was the best, we ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein, hot and sour soup plus Sichuan Beef Stir Fry. All of them were delicious, so we couldn't wait to go back and try their other dishes. Second time was also good, my husband enjoyed the ribs, we tried our friend's zucchini fries and that was addicting! I couldn't stop eating them! However, my Red Curry Shrimp and Grits was just okay. I like curry, but their version lacks the depth of the flavor I was looking for. The third time was a disappointment. I got the Chicken Sha La Noodles, again I like curry, so maybe this time it's better with the noodles and peanut butter sauce, it wasn't. The noodles was mushy and just lacks the richness flavor. The Generals Chicken was certainly not what we were expecting. It looks like a Chicken Katsudon. The crispy texture of the chicken was pleasant, but tasted bland. Overall, we will still come back and just order what we previously liked or try the menu where you have to order 24 hours prior to your visit.

Yelp
Finally...finally .... Finally! First timers that finally made it here after it first open we could catch a break coming here. And I will tell you this WE SHOULD Have CAME SOONER!! Blue Bamboo is not your typical Asian cuisine or setup. At first glance the outside and don't get me started... the inside was amazing. Lots of room and the ambiance was relaxing yet interesting. We were greeted as soon as we came through the door and immediately got seated. Our waiter was very attending and gave excellent recommendations! Drinks- Salted Caramel & TigerRita & Green Tea Cocktails App - Fried Shrimp & Pork fried Potstickers Entree - Lo Mein, Stir Fried Rice & Red Curry Shrimp and Grits w/ Chicken add on. First, let me start with the drinks they were The best I've had at a restaurant here in Mandarin. Handcrafted drinks with the most unexpected taste that make you ask what else is in it? NADINE (Bartender "excuse the name misspell") is truly a gifted Mixologist. Single one women show putting out the best drinks with amazing presentation. Can't go wrong with the drink menu. Wish I could try every one but then we would have a problem getting home lol. From the appetizers to the entrée, it was everything to be desired. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits with red curry spicy. The grits were deep-fried in Panko like crust, topped with sautéed onions and peppers with shrimp and me personally I added chicken. I was also suggested the duck dish, but will save that for next time now lastly, don't forget the desserts we took home the orange marmalade cake and let's just say it was so good I forgot to even take a picture of it! Now the most interesting part of the experience here is, they have automated robots that bring your dishes straight to your table (of course, with assistance by the waiter) it was pretty cool. To close it up, this place is great for anybody in the mood for various Asian taste, coming as a group or just as a dinner date, or even a venue to host a large group. Blue bamboo does it all with a little twist. Kudos to management thank you for coming to check on our table. All of your employees were proactive and never to good to help with the little things throughout our sitting. Great job!

Yelp
Food and service was excellent the mango tea was amazing food portions are big we will add this to our favorite places

Yelp
Our waitress was so friendly and we really enjoyed our dinner here last night! We started with the potstickers (steamed) and edamame. The potstickers came with a delicious ginger sauce which was very different than normal! We loved it!!!! The edamame could have used some additional salt and sauce. We asked for soy sauce on the side. I got the beef and broccoli and it was delicious, the sauce that it was marinated in was sooooo good. The beef was cooked perfectly. We really enjoyed this place and found out they have cooking classes too! We might be back for one of those or a dim sum night!

Yelp
We were a big crowd on Mother's Day 2024. I had made arrangements ahead of time to be in one of their private rooms and that proved to be a great decision. Once the door was closed, everyone could have great conversation without background noise. Food and service was amazing as usual. This was not my first time at the Blue Bamboo and certainly not my last.!

Kelsey G.

Yelp
Great food and service. This is an upscale Asian sit down restaurant good for dinners with family or a nice date spot. There's a little robot that brings your food to your table which is a fun little bonus too.

Yelp
Our experience at Blue Bamboo's Vietnamese dinner experience that we paid $60 per ticket left much to be desired. From start to finish, our taste buds were bombarded with an onslaught of fried foods. Fried pork, fried onions, fried rice cakes, and yes, even the dumplings were fried - a perplexing departure from traditional Vietnamese culinary practices. To compound matters, each dish seemed to be only flavored with ginger, devoid of any unique taste or balance. It felt as though the kitchen had run out of ideas and resorted to dousing everything in ginger. Furthermore, one dish with rice was devoid of any seasoning or salt, leaving us with a bland and uninspired dish to the already lackluster dinner. Despite our evident dissatisfaction, the manager never intervened or addressed our concerns. It was a missed opportunity for Blue Bamboo to rectify the situation and salvage the dining experience. In conclusion, our visit to Blue Bamboo for the Vietnamese dinner was a regrettable waste of time and money, marked by a lack of creativity, authenticity, and basic culinary competence.

Yelp
My cousin told me about their robot server so I had to check it out myself. Not only was it super cool to have your food brought out to you by a robot, the food was delicious. We started out with the Fried Pork Potstickers and Lettuce Wraps. Fabulous. The Lettuce Wrap was the perfect amount of spiciness for my taste. For our main dish, I had the Honey Garlic Shrimp. OMG! It was soooo tasty. My wife and daughter had their Pepper Steak & Lo Mein. I had some of the Lo Mein and it too was delicious. I didn't get to sample the Pepper Steak since my daughter devoured it before I could steal a piece of beef, but she said it was wonderful. We ended the meal with their Mandarin Orange Cake. Sorry, no picture, but Holy Smokes! Probably one of my favorite cakes. It satisfied my sweet tooth, but was not too sweet. I could have easily eaten the whole slice by myself. But I was kind and shared with the family. Sharing is Caring right? =) Food was fantastic, they have a robot server, and our main server Ashley was so kind and attentive to all our needs. Thank you Blue Bamboo for a wonderful experience.

Yelp
Recently came here to try out their monthly dimsum special. Ambience is very nice as it is spacious. Presentation of food was very fancy. However, the dimsum did not taste like the authentic dimsum. Lotus sticky rice barely had any chicken/meat. The sesame ball and pineapple buns tasted a little odd. Waiter was very nice and attentive though. Would not come again unless the chef improves the quality of the food. Try Tim Wah for more authentic dimsum.

Cristy N.

Yelp
Never had. Bad experience in this restaurant. Food is always in point. Servers are friendly and very accommodating. Drinks are very innovative. This is one of our favorite restaurants.

Susan H.

Yelp
I do wanna like this place more! I love Dennis & his creations. The place is a bit louder than I like and a bit sterile in the main room. I really like their bar area. The cocktails are fabulous and my fave is the Ying&Yang. I adore the fried shrimp in the little soup spoons! They ROCK! Their peanut butter pie is worth a trip here for just that! I could write stories about his delish sauces for salad & dipping - but each of his satisfactory dishes that I would order just don't have enough deep and savory flavor for me! I have to order his sauces & jazz them up for me! The place is always busy so I know folks love the place! I do keep coming back to support them.

Randy L.

Yelp
Woo woo Blue Bamboo! Everything I had here knocked my socks off. Highly recommend this gem. The robot delivering food also is a great show.

Linda V.

Yelp
Sept22,2022 A friend said, "meet me at Blue Bamboo for a happy hour" "ok I'll be there". For some reason I didn't even know they had a happy hour. The restaurant opens at 5 pm and that's when the happy hour starts. Our bartender was attentive but not too. The drinks ($5/6) were tasty and creative, I liked the Blue ginger with vodka; the apps were all fried in some way and my favorite was the Veggie spring roll ($5). A treat for me was to see was their automated server, let's call him LingLing-he rolled up with the food and the human placed the plates in front of you...kind of cool.

Rachelle S.

Yelp
First time coming to Blue bamboo in the new location. The modern feel does not stop with the decor as there is a robot food deliverer. Very interesting concept especially since the server still hands the food to you. Food is as good as it ever was, we had so many various dishes. Love BB and cannot wait to come back for Dim Sum Sunday's!

Yelp

Yelp
Great service! Ok food, overpriced and bland. Drinks were not good, the old fashion was nothing but simple syrup. The gunpowder drink was extremely tart and did not taste like anything but bad grapefruit.

Camille G.

Yelp
Ok, and sure the food is good, but SO overpriced and overrated.... The dim sum is fancy and the robot thing and all is ridiculous. Sorry, I just want a great meal that's fairly priced.

Brenda E.

Yelp
I have been a fan for 15 years! Consistently good food and excellent service. The new location is also great for hosting private events.

JiMmy P.

Yelp
First time at this new location. Spacious layout with relaxing ambiance perfect for cocktails after a busy week. Right when you walk in, to your right will be the bar area and to your left will be the dining area. Happy hour is from 5-6PM and is only available at the bar area. We forwent Happy Hour and seated in their dining area. Authentic Cantonese! For starters, we had their classic Hot and Sour soup. Nice balance especially for the cold weather. For the main entrees, we ordered the Sichuan Beef Stir Fry and Cantonese Shrimp Lomein. I can tell the authenticity of these dishes by the taste and smell alone. They were flavorful and the beef was tender. For dessert, we finished our meal with a slice of Banana Cake. Not too sweet just the way we like it. Great service too!

Margaret K.

Yelp
Wow, my birthday dinner was a bust! I have eaten her before one the Southside location. The service was terrible, mostly the attitude of the server. Food was even worse! I'm sorry I spent my time and money there! Yuck never again!

Howard B.

Yelp
The Service was horrible. 45 minutes to receive our drink order. Different waitress brought the wrong appetizer. Waiter was very unpleasant. Food was very ordinary. At previous location food was very good. Very Very NOISEY AND AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE. Sorry ,never will return.

Jose G.

Yelp
Todays choice for some Asian cuisine for lunch was definitely the right one. Upon entering the large and spacious interior I was greeted by the owner Chef Dennis and Manager Tina. Both were so welcoming and had great smiles to share with me while being seated. My waitress named Lacey was also very kind and professional. I ordered the tasty and savory ribs that came with mixed vegetables and white rice recommended by a friend. The food delivered to my table by robot "Booey" was fresh and delicious. The portions were perfect. To compliment the great tasting lunch, seating was very comfortable. The interior clean and super roomy. Parking is conveniently located on the property. Looking forward to my next lunch and/or dinner visit soon!

Bob F.

Yelp
Great food & service. Try the Dragon Straws appetizer. Booie the robot is fun to watch.

Yelp
I've been to this establishment and the old location multiple times. They even catered my surprised 30th birthday party a few years ago at my house which my other half set up and I was extremely surprised. We have hosted multiple family events like graduation, gender reveal, Chinese New Year, birthdays and other occasions at this restaurant. I'll now write about my last visit. It was back in September for my birthday. As always we love the food and selection that they offer and I appreciate when they cater to special requests. We always pre-order our food and since my family enjoys family style meals they always help set that up. The food was amazing which pics are below and the service was magnificent. The chocolate are great too.. WINDY HILLS The restaurant has private rooms for any events Highly recommended this establishment for both regular service and group events. Denise and his staff are amazing I can't seem to find the 10 Stars . Unfortunately it only allows me to give 5 stars lol

Peter D.

Yelp
Great spot. Stopped by after passing it several times off hours. Finally got in there and it was all I'd hopped for. Curried chicken with rice and beans were amazing. Not too spicy so you could taste all the flavors develop. I also had the oxtail. I love oxtail and this dish was no exception. Savory and tender. They were attentive and helpful. Very clean. That's a big deal for me as I'm not unfamiliar with restaurant kitchens. You can see the kitchen from the counter and the place is immaculate. A clean chef is one that pays attention to details and runs a tight ship. Flavorful, friendly and I didn't have to wait forever. Perfect spot for a decadent take out lunch. The medium container was easily enough for me and I was hungry. They also kept spooning on meat and vegetables. It's not cheap but you get all you pay for. Can't recommend them enough.

Jeanine A.

Yelp
OMG! This was a dream come true no exaggeration! I've been hoping to come here for quite some time when they were at the other location. I wanted to get into the Sunday dim sum offering for YEARS! So when the opportunity came up to eat dinner there, I jumped at it. There were five of us for dinner and from beginning to end, it was a great experience. We ordered three different appetizers, drinks, we all got entrees and then we shared the famous orange cake. I'm going to start with the cake. We were full and they've had it before so we just shared the one piece but had I known, I would have made everyone order their own! I didn't know (smh) that I would be mad at everyone for taking it away from me, but now I do. From now on, I will order a piece before and after dinner! So so good. The cake is like a really good carrot cake on steroids. Shares similar color and texture but this cake, this cake, leaves the best carrot cake looking like a little Debbie. Everything was just outstanding.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were very excited to finally try this place we drive by all the time. First impression from the parking lot is that I LOVE the building design. It's so sleek and modern and the round doorway was super cool. The interior decor was just as sleek with trendy all white and grey vibes. I will say I didn't particularly like the open room with a bunch of tables. So if you want a trendy but not cozy atmosphere, then you'll like it. I just thought it was too bright and not very intimate of a setting. We started off by ordering the dumpling sampler which came with 5 dumplings... but literally only 5 so we had to cut each one in half in order to both have some of each. For the price, there should have been two of each item. I ordered the honey garlic shrimp which came with steamed broccoli and white rice. The shrimp were fantastic and so delicious. I was surprised that the were literally no seasonings (salt, pepper, sesame seeds) on the broccoli and the dish they served it in was oddly shaped and hard to mix the rice into. For $23, I expected a little more from the meal. My boyfriend ordered the basil miso salmon which was also delicious. He ate it so fast. However, again, the price point on this dish ($29) is pretty steep for a small portion of salmon and some more bland veggies. Oh but did I mention it was served by a robot? Kinda cool but also didn't quite fit with the style of the restaurant. I didn't feel like it was supposed to be techy or futuristic. All in all, food was pretty good albeit a little too expensive and they need to figure out a better decor theme to stick to.

Yelp
My wife and I just dined at the Blue Bamboo Canton Bistro after reading numerous positive reviews. Many reviews proclaimed it as the most authentic delicious Cantonese food in the area. Our expectations were high and we were excited to visit the restaurant under award winning Chef Dennis Chan. The restaurant, located on San Jose Boulevard, is modern decor, spacious dining room and has plenty of parking. Our server was personable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu items. We started our meal with the Fried Pork Potstickers. The dumplings were not crispy enough and the accompanying dipping sauce was not good. We prefer the traditional sauce with soy, ginger, garlic, scallions with chili or sriracha. My wife opted for the Curry Salmon and Shrimp. The seafood was fresh and cooked well but nothing to write home about. The dish was served on a bed of vegetables ... broccoli, carrots, celery, bok choy and possibly some onions. My wife is British, she is very familiar with cooking with curry. We understand that curry dishes are also very subjective. The curry in this Salmon and Shrimp dish was bland, nothing special especially at $ 33.00. I ordered the General's Chicken. It is their spin on traditional General Tso's chicken, a dish I have had hundreds of times in my life living in the metropolitan areas of NY City and Boston. The menu describes the dish as crispy fried chicken breast meat tossed in chilies with peppers and onions with steamed rice. My chicken was dry, overcooked and served in a tasteless sauce. Extremely disappointing considering all the great reviews of the Blue Bamboo. The best item we sampled was the Mandarin Orange Cake. It is their award winning signature dessert. It was absolutely delicious! The highpoint of the meal. We had great expectations visiting the Blue Bamboo as many reviews proclaimed it as the most authentic Cantonese restaurant in the JAX area ( No yellow fried rice). Maybe it was an off day, but we found the Blue Bamboo to be disappointing and highly overrated.

Meg A.

Yelp
I wish there was a half star rating because this is a solid 3.5. While the atmosphere gives a sleek, modern atmosphere, most of the menu feels more like your neighborhood Chinese restaurant. We were expecting a little more prep with the appetizers - they all tasted like the mass-ordered, frozen foods you can get in the grocery store. The wait staff was nice but slow - it was a Saturday night, but the section was rather small. The price matches the atmosphere but not the quality of the food.

Marshall G.

Yelp
We've been talking about going to this restaurant for quite some time now, but we always find a way to go somewhere else instead for whatever reason. Last weekend we finally decided to go and just had an amazing time. The waiter (I wish I could remember his name but he's worked there for 6 years) definitely knew how to spark great conversation, communicate the details of many menu items, and make us feel very welcome. He had a touch of sarcasm, but that's my kind of style and I appreciated that. We started out with the barbecue duck crisps and they were phenomenal. Quite crispy! I also had a crispy honey glazed shrimp entree which I loved, but wish it was a little bit more food. Finally, we ended with a tea-based creme brulee that was delightful. Our server mentions that it wasn't too sweet and he was spot on! Side note: a funny anecdote was that my girlfriend and I kept on laughing a little because they do have an electric bus boy and serving machine of sorts. So much so that we ended up looking online to see how much one of those things cost and we're also laughing at how awkward it can look sometimes while also seeing how other customers were staring at it. Overall we really had a wonderful time here and would definitely recommend it. We'll definitely be coming back.

Denise C.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for a while but it's not open Saturday lunch. We went today. It is a very nice restaurant. Great looking bar area! The decor is very upscale. Menu is varied lots of shrimp and chicken dishes. I ordered Kung pao shrimp bowl it was really tasty, great sauce comes with s crispy spring roll and white rice. My husband ordered beef and broccoli of the dinner menu. He was not very excited about the price! Lunch is brought on a cute little robot thing, that Made up for the expensive lunch. I would definitely go back. It is in the high side for Chinese but it is clean and tasty.

Valerie T.

Yelp
The restaurant and bar are beautiful and the staff beyond amazing. My friend and I met for dinner there several times thinking it might be a good choice for our weekly get-together. But, over time we ordered many different menu items and found all of them lacking in flavor, especially the duck. We asked for some chili oil to spice the dishes up but even that was dull and mild. We gave up.

Edward A.

Yelp
I had been to the Southside location in the past and was happy they decided to relocate closer to my hood. Since opening I was seeing mixed reviews but it's what makes the world go round right? Anyway, our party of 8 arrived to a packed house on a Friday night prime time. Parking is a premium here and they may need to address that issue sooner than later - which is a good thing if you think about it. The interior has a minimalist feel with very little decor on the walls. Not sure if that is the plan or if they will be adding some things later. Our table which was closest to San Jose had the highest ceiling and it made conversation hard since it was so loud. The lettuce wraps appetizer had an intense flavor offset by the cool lettuce leaves. My Velvet Yu Kew was so well named as the fish was oh so velvety the way it was prepared along with the sauce. The bok choy, carrots, and mushrooms were a perfect combination to enhance the entree. The reason for the 4 stars is the generals chicken was pretty ordinary. It wasn't bad and it wasn't your take out covered in batter and swimming in sauce. In fact, it was pounded chicken breasts crunchy coated. It just felt like an adult sized kids meal. The other critique is the rice serving with the meals. It was scoop just a little bigger than a golf ball. Entree serving sizes were ample so my guess is that if you decide to share, they'll get that extra $2.25 from you for another golf ball of rice. Similar to a Japanese teppanyaki if you share. Just a small annoyance. Again, happy they relocated. I recommend being more adventurous and avoiding the adult kids meals. Also check out their menu items that require 24 hour notice. Those look very interesting. Welcome to Mandarin!!

Yelp
The staff was wearing masks. Nice new upscale Chinese restaurant. All of the food was good. The drinks were just ok... I ordered a cocktail and it was a little on the weak side and in a very small glass with a lot of ice. The ice tea was horrible. And it cost $4.00. I ordered the general's chicken. Very tasty and crispy. It could have used more sauce... also they brought the rice in a separate bowl and it was the size of a small ice cream scoop. There was a total of 4 filets of chicken, so it was a generous serving, but there was not enough rice, and they were charging $2.25 for extra rice. We ordered the 5 piece sampler as an appetizer, and it was a good variety. But a little pricey compared to what you get at other Chinese restaurants. With a restaurant that is upscale like this, I felt as though they were skimping on the little things which tainted the overall experience. I'm not sure if the experience made up for the pricing either as the very loud acoustics made it difficult to converse within our own table. Hopefully, the longer they are open, they will learn and have a chance to get the kinks worked out. It's nice to have another dining option in the San Jose area. Also, they need to remove the tacky and rusty taped- up "NOW OPEN" sign in the dining area. The service was attentive but lacking in personality for an upscale restaurant.

Jill M.

Yelp
Excellent one-of-kind restaurant. The ambiance, service and food are always good (I've been there 4 or 5 times). I love that it's owned by the chef who is a Jacksonville native. It's casual chic, IMO. The drinks are good, too (I love lychee), but watch the bill, it can add up quick - like any restaurant these days. The bar area is nicely appointed and intimate. Your meal might even be delivered by a robot! The food is not only good but also beautifully presented. My only wish is that the menu would change up more frequently.

Debbie F.

Yelp
Your name has value and Chef Dennis Chan name is priceless His familys reputation for being innovative and a forerunner in our community with volunteering for events like Caring Chefs is incomparable. His love of sharing his kitchen experiences has brought memorable times to many just like when ever I engage his own Mandarin Orange cake...mmmmm They now have a new chocolatier in the back of the house as a new adventure. Several flavors to sample in truffles. They are very experienced in doing various events..they will even bake the cakes. Try a cooking class event or watch there calendar for Dimsum Sundays. Try BB for a valued experience and be a part of their story...

So we tried BB again but afraid not anymore impressed. Had a good cocktail a cucumber smash. That said our waiter spilled part of it on way to table and still just served it 3/4 full. It is a beautiful dining room and very large. Super comfortable chairs. We shared the mixed appetizer - 5 pieces, Rangoon, spring roll, shumai, dumplings. Spring roll virtually all cabbage. Rangoon and shumai hard as a rock on outside and very little filing. Not allot of flavor. Small amount of dipping sauce under each is not practical for sharing. My husband had the duck $38, he was underwhelmed. I tried the honey shrimp - they were beautiful, large shrimp, perfectly cooked with lovely broccoli spheres also beautifully prepared. Portions are small don't expect to take any home.

Yelp
Elegant setting, pleasant staff and varied menu. A group of 5 adults, we shared appetizers of spring rolls and crab Rangoon. The we ordered the following main dishes: basil-miso salmon, pepper steak, Vietnamese Tra Fish, coconut chicken and lo mein. Desserts: cream brûlée and mandarin orange cake (hands down the best dessert!) The cost of dinner for 5 adults was $190.00. Since we were celebrating a retirement the owner came by our table to greet us. Ashley was helpful waitress and she aided by the robot waiter which gave everyone a good chuckle.

Yelp
First time visiting this "Asian" restaurant. Spacious interior, friendly. Service was unremarkable--it was a little difficult to find our waitress for a second round of drinks. Cocktails were pretty standard but beware, you will be charged $13.00 for a whiskey or vodka and an additional $3.00 to make each one into a cocktail. I've never encountered that before. My red curry chicken had no heat as Asian food usually does. I think the spring roll was from Costco. Also, I had to ask for chop sticks to eat my Asian food in this Asian restaurant. I guess they expect that their diners don't know how to use them. How strange. So, bland food, overpriced drinks, average service. But nice ambiance.

Yelp
Beautiful new restaurant and the staff was excellent. I'd visited their former restaurant and enjoyed it. After all the good things I've mentioned, the meals for the three of us, including the duck, looked perfect but had no flavor. Maybe a bad night. First priority should always be the food.

Yelp
The history of the name of the restaurant and of its chef, Chef Dennis, is fascinating. It has been a real fixture on the foodie scene for Duval county for a long time. Having said that, I rarely go here but I really enjoy the food when I do. Why rarely, well a few reasons actually: 1) It is an out of the way place for me for lunch 2) It is an out of my way place for dinner. 3) The food is good but a tad bit pricey. On my most recent visit my daughter and I stopped in by chance, as we were in the area. She has a gluten and dairy allergy and there was almost nothing on the menu she could eat. Our server was FANTASTIC and found a few things she could choose. The food was good, but again, a tad too pricey for what we got. One thing that really took away fro out meal was they did a job interview for a bartender position at an open table. It happened to be so loud that everyone in the restaurant heard 100% of the interview and it was quite uncomfortable. Not sure what could have been different, but it felt like we were intruding, if that made sense.

Yelp
I was visiting Jacksonville and stumbled upon this place. What a great find! The food was delicious! Fresh and perfectly cooked. Ribs were juicy and had a nice char taste. Pan fried noodles and the lo mein were like New York Chinatown! The fried zucchini sticks were so good! Light and crispy and not oily! The bartender Holly made the best cocktails! The restaurant is beautiful and the staff was so nice and accommodating to my food requests. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in Jacksonville Florida. We tried other places in Jacksonville on our vacation and this was our favorite!!!! A must !

Yelp
I enjoyed the Honey Ginger Shrimp with Broccoli and rice. It was the perfect balance of sweet and salty. I really enjoyed the spring roll appetizer. This was my first time at this location and the service and atmosphere were even better than the Southside location. They have happy hour specials on select food and cocktails for $5 until 6pm at the Mandarin Bar. There's also a sweet shop here.

Yelp
Really enjoyable dinner. They were very accommodating and seated us without having reservations. The pork ribeye was excellent. The shrimp and grits had good flavor but was not hot enough. The proportion of grits to onion/pepper to shrimp was off. Server was great. The sound bounces around the room a lot. Not a good place for someone who has hearing issues. Worth the price of admission to see the robot food deliverer.

Yelp
Over all it was a good experience. Food was good. We ordered the dim sum sampler and the egg rolls. For dinner we had the chicken fried rice, sweet and sour chicken that didn't get great feed back because it had a smokey taste to it and the tuna dish. Service was great, manager checked on us multiple times and our waitress was very sweet and helpful. The area we weren't happy with was the bar staff. Waited entirely way to long for drinks only to have them made incorrectly and its probably because she was taking multiple orders from multiple customers at the bar. The bar wasn't busy either including us 2 other parties.

Yelp
EXCELLENT food, service, drinks and desserts! Holly, the Bartender, is a Mixologist Extraordinaire! The food is consistently top notch, the service is consistently friendly and attentive, the ambiance is quiet, but not stuffy and desserts are AMAZING. Be sure to try the Orange Cake. It's life changing!

Yelp
I visited Blue bamboo on San Jose for the second time this evening and the food is outstanding by far the chef was able to fix dishes that we requested that were not on the menu . Best Asian Food in Jacksonville, 10+ you must try Blue bamboo when in the mood for Asian cuisine you won't be disappointed for sure. When you read the menu you wanna taste a little bit of everything!!!!

Yelp
After hearing great things about Blue Bamboo we decided to give it a try on a weeknight. We all agreed that it was much better than what you'd typically think of as Chinese food. It wasn't as greasy or salty compared to your go to Chinese take out place. We were impressed by the flavors and freshness of our meals. We left satisfied after our meal and kept talking about how fresh and tasty it was! We also started with the egg-rolls and they were delicious.

Yelp
Service was fantastic. Food was bad. Really bad. Potsticker appetizers where same ones you can get at publix, and were clearly freezer burned. Coconut curry dinner was just coconut milk (no curry flavor) and premade vegies (guest asked for no onion but it was loaded with onions). One guest ordered a veggie tofu option and it had canned mushrooms in it (not idea if the rest of the veggies where fresh, but likely not). Szechuan dishes were not spicy and had no hint of peppers in it. Asked for chili peppers in oil or chili sauce but all they had was some "sriracha" that was mostly tomato paste. Prices and atmosphere were fine dining, but food quality was less than average takeout spot. Would not recommend. This may have once been a fine dining establishment, but it is not now. Check the dates of the reviews before deciding on risking this.
