Blue Barn Corte Madera

My visit to 'Blue Barn' this Saturday was a delightful experience from start to finish. I was looking for a healthy lunch spot and was happy that I went there. I ordered the 'Spicy Tuna' salad. The greens were incredibly fresh and crisp, and the combination of a spicy tuna, salad leaves, freshly cut avocado and delicious dressing was perfectly balanced. I also appreciated the generous portion size. If you are looking for a healthy fresh tasty meal, you should definitely try it. They also have a great choice of sandwiches...

Very fresh tasty menu. Buffalo chicken sandwich was well seasoned, with perky slaw. The spicy wild ahi tuna tartare salad was fresh and well balanced. Even the picky youngster gave the grilled cheese a thumbs up! Hazy IPA was excellent brew.

It’s a nice sandwich place. The name was nice that why I had a meal here. It seemed pretty popular. The sandwiches and my tomato basil soup were okay. It was expensive for sandwiches Rating - 3 Location - 5 Kids friendly - 4

Wished I had seen the menu before actually arriving and ordering. I felt when I was looking at the menu I was being rushed. I say this because the cashier had asked if I'm ready to order and clearly you could tell I was reading the menu and had been there literally 5 min. When I mean reading, it was written in a font that wasn't easy to read and so many items inside one sandwich. Then I was asked again if I was ready to order. Nothing like feeling rushed and then you just order a sandwich you hope is good. I waited awhile for the sandwich. Which was ironic since I was basically feeling rushed to order by the cashier as she stood there and stared at me. Unfortunately, what they have as a BLT was not a good sandwich. If I had time to actually read the whole menu. I would have discarded a few items. Whatever it was that tasted tangy was not a pleasant flavor and did not go well with the other items especially the feta & bacon. Everything was sliding all over and items kept falling out and then it was slightly soggy. Glad I was able to try something, but I will never eat there again. Not for everyone.

Blue Barn remains my favorite Bay Area salad chain. The summer seasonal heirloom salad was amazing. My friend liked the sandwich as well - both were very filling, with a great variety of textures and tastes! On the pricier side (my salad was somewhere between $15-18 post-tax), but well worth it. Nice mix of outdoor and indoor seating at this location

Down in Corta Madera kickin dirt clods and pokin around minding my own business when the Hansen twins... Sally and Sue threw some rocks at me. They never could throw very good, but that Sally has an arm! It's a good thing her aim was off. I told them if they'd be nice I'd pop for lunch at the Blue Barn Restaurant, and that was it. The lunch was Amazing 5 stars all the way! ☆☆☆☆☆

While I agree with other reviewers that The food is expensive, I believe the price is commensurate with the quality. Barn BLT is hands down the best BLT I’ve ever eaten, and they have a steak sandwich that’s delicious. The salads are too $$ for me, but then again, I’m not the biggest fan of salad in general, and and happiest with iceberg lettuce covered with blue cheese dressing, lol. I do like the spicy tuna salad, but prefer to order a side of the spicy tuna itself, then eat it with chips. The service is fine;, as is the atmosphere, but I always get it to go.

Such a bummer. Salad was full of rotten greens and found hair in our salad. We normally love this place but the care has gone way down hill.

I've recently started going to Blue Barn here and there, and I honestly love the food options--especially as someone who's trying to maintain a healthy balance and find better choices when eating out. While the menu can be a bit overpriced, the portions (especially the salads) are huge and easy to save for leftovers. I also have to say, I love going to Blue Barn for their fries! The employees are all very sweet and always check in to see if you need anything. Although the Corte Madera location can get busy at times, I definitely recommend eating outside and enjoying a good meal at Blue Barn.

**Do not come here if you have celiac, or are eating gluten free** They are not gluten friendly. Workers are not aware of what does or doesn't have gluten in it. I told them I was gluten free, and they served me a salad with farro and bread. Also, a salad with chicken and an iced tea was $35. Granted, taste was fine and portions were large. Would rate 3 stars if it weren't for the gluten mishap. I'm lucky I don't have a severe allergy.

Fresh, farm-to-table food that's consistently good across the menu. Ideal for a quick stop while shopping at the Town Center. Also a good place for people watching when it's busy.

The only reason I gave this place 4 stars and not 5 is because paying $20 for a sandwich is a little too steep for me and yes, I know that's a ME problem. But if your pockets are deeper than mines then you will absolutely love this place! The sandwiches and salad taste so fresh and the portions are huge! We got the steak sandwich (medium well, extra aioli on the side) and if you get tater tots or fries on the side then the meal is good enough for 2 people. I also tried the kale Caesar salad and that was yummy too, although it was a little bitter for me due to the kale. But the portions..... enough for a 2nd meal!! And yes, I know I just complained about the price of the sandwich but I'm already looking at the menu to see what I'm going to get next....so many amazing options!

Came to the SF location one before and loved it, so I was excited to finally try this location and it was just as good! I ordered the Kale Caesar salad which was fresh and flavorful. It didn't taste stale at all. I also made my own salad which I prefer and it was also very delicious! The salmon I ordered came out nice and warm, not cold at all. I love their garlic cruton. Had the right crunch and it wasn't old or anything. Everything was fresh! Also ordered the tator tots and it came out crispy and hot! Loved it! Would have loved to ordered a second tator tots, but we were so full by then. The server told us it would be about 15 minute wait as everything is made to order and it was good hearing that! The results was great! And our server was friendly, not rude at all unlike the other reviews I've read. So maybe it is a hit or miss? Yes, prices are on the expensive side, but given their location and the freshness of the food makes sense. There are many overpriced food elsewhere, just like this restaurant so it is no different. But their food is made fresh on request. I would not take away a star just for the price because the food was delicious! I would recommend this place and try it out yourself!

Food was pretty good the skirt steak sandwich was tasty. The Cobb salad was decent but came with too little chicken so I added more. This is a casual place at a shopping center. There really isn't any service since you order at the counter and then pick up the order when it's ready. They have an automatic tip suggestion of 18-25%, which is ridiculous. That's the type of tip for restaurant service, not standing at a counter. I tip 10% max for places like this. It's expensive plus expecting such a high tip was off putting.

I've been going to this spot a lot lately, and honestly, it's become one of my favorite places to eat. Even though some of the food is fried, it doesn't feel as heavy or "junk food-y" as you'd expect--probably because they include plenty of fresh veggies and thoughtful sides. I usually visit the Novato location if I want to sit down because they have plenty of indoor seating, which makes it comfortable. The Corte Madera location is always busy, so I usually do pickup there. Outdoor seating can be crowded or chilly, so it's easier to grab your order and go. Both locations are in super friendly, walkable areas, so you can easily explore the neighborhood while you wait. Parking is convenient at both spots, and if you're at the town center location, there are plenty of stores to check out while your food is being prepared. The food does take a little time to make, but that's only because they're usually handling 10-15 orders at once. If you're super hungry, they have lots of small, ready-to-go snacks like popcorn and nibbles to tide you over. As for the meals, the portions are generous. Usually, my boyfriend and I will split a sandwich, or do a sandwich and a salad between us--they're big and very satisfying. Their fries are amazing--crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned. The tater tots weren't my favorite, so I'd skip those next time. Their sandwiches are hearty and flavorful, and the salads are fresh and definitely not an afterthought. It's a little more expensive than fast food, but I'd say it's similar in price to places like Super Duper, and totally worth it. I feel like you get a lot of value for what you pay. Overall, I 100% recommend this place. I love it--it's my current go-to anytime I want something tasty and satisfying. Definitely give it a try!

This place flat out is one of the best casual eateries in Marin. Everything, even the kids menu, is absolutely awesome. The reviewers giving 1 star because of tip suggestion at 18% percent is funny. They obviously don't get out much lol plus you can skip the tip if you feel cheap. Anyway the food and service here is better than great. Big shout out to new manager Eduardo he's very welcoming and legit friendly. The best manager by far this place has had. Great job Eduardo.

The place is a bit small so dine-in can be challenging unless you're looking to sit outside. There is a bunch of outdoor seating. On the day that I went, it was a bit chilly outside. The food was decent, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I'm a pretty basic guy so the sandwiches felt like a weird combination for me. All in all, not a bad place to enjoy your lunch if you have a business meeting.

Blue Barn is in the middle of an outdoor mall. There is a little seating indoors and a lot of outdoor seating. We stopped in for sandwiches. This place is always busy but the wait line to order was very short. The food took awhile to get but nothing too annoying. My husband had the rooster and I had the steak sandwich. I was surprised when they asked me how I wanted my steak cooked for a sandwich? They cooked it perfectly. Both of our sandwiches were delicious. I have only one complaint and that is the steak sandwich would be so much better, easier to chew and not a choking hazard if they sliced the meat into thin slices rather than big chunks. We will return when in town.

I had a choice between a sit down restaurant or Blue Barn and I chose Blue Barn for the casual dining experience. To my surprise as I was standing at the register to pay, I see an automatic tip of 18% had been added to my total. Considering my meal already came out to the same price as a sit down restaurant meal, I was shocked. Literally there is no service. They give you a buzzer to stand up and get your order when it's ready. That is RIDICULOUS to think you are automatically going to pass on a tip to your customer when you don't even provide any extra service besides what every other to-go place offers: taking an order, wiping down a table. I then changed the tip to 10%, when really it was my choice to put nothing, and the 20 year old girl at the register had the audacity to scowl at me and to speak to me in a rude tone. My food was also cold. Adjust your prices so you don't have to pass on tips to customers in a sneaky way. And if you choose to work at a casual place, do not expect 18% tips.

I love the buffalo fry sandwich here. The perfect flavor and texture. The sandwiches and salad run between $18-22 depending on what you order. I have never tried their fries but definitely want to next time. Nice little area walking distance from the parking lot and plenty of outdoor seating as well. I always get a kale caesar with it and have the dressing mixed inside. Both together were about $35. Service is good - limited, you order and then your buzzer rings and you pick it up. Definitely fresh, tasty, and I recommend it!

I usually like to contact the venue directly since there is no customer service support I am giving 1 star since this is the 2nd time recently that we ordered the fattoush salad with cheese and dressing on the side since this is a shared salad the salad came with cheese on it we did not return since Corte Madera is a drive I hope management sees this to address

Used to be so good. It was always expensive, but used to also seem like you're getting your $'s worth. Now it's just crazy overpriced for subpar, thoughtlessly-slapped-together sandwiches with subway-quality ingredients. Shame

For the last 10 years, the price is only increasing by $3. Keeping the same portion and being consistent with flavors and ingredients. Ordered Thai chicken salad with generous amount of seasoned chicken. Salad is presented in deep enamel bowl-doesn't try too hard to impress. Not until you try the first bite-second-third until it went down to the last. Heavenly. The entire bowl is good for 2 people to share. My face is tired for gobbling down since it was a huge serving. The cashier will ask-do you want the dressing mixed or separate? Always say mixed in. The salad is definitely healthy with lightly tossed house dressing. Low amount of sodium and MSG. Weather in Marin is always lovely, never too hot neither too cold. Seating area, choices are inside, in the patio or in the promenade. The salad cost $20-while not a resident in Marin, this place worth the drive. Nowhere you can get salad for this price. Cobber Salad, 5 out of 10. Bland, chicken is dry, avocado i ordered separately isn't ripe, counter staff are indifferent, all for $30. PASS

I've enjoyed Blue Barn's salads in the past, but today it was barely edible. I got a U-pick salad... the brussels tasted a few days old, the kale was not chopped correctly so it was full of inedible stalks, I ordered 2 helpings of snow peas and got a total of 3 peas in the salad. The beets were ok. Onions fine. Nothing seemed truly fresh; I usually don't use much dressing but had to douse it to make it taste alright. $28 (!!!) for a less than average salad. Sad to say I won't be back.

This is for Corte Madera location. Good food, pricey, and they are usually busy, but this was just not worth it. Placed order for sandwich, the buzzer went off to pick up & it wasn't my order. I waited for almost 15 minutes and nothing - no status, nothing. I finally walked out, didn't even want a refund. I won't go back and I won't be recommending them.

The food here is consistently fresh and delicious. I've been coming here for over a decade and tried most of the menu. You can't go wrong! The price is STEEP depending on what you get, but you get what you pay for. The beef here is fantastic; my fav place to get it on a salad! Kale Caesar is my go to, but all the sandos and salad are wonderful.

The Winter Salad is basically a huge portion of normal mixed greens, four or five tiny pieces of squash, some pine nuts and a few persimmon seeds. I was really surprised given the cost. Of course I am shocked every time I come here, once a year to be reminded.

This is sandwich board heaven right here. Unless you have difficulty making decisions, then good luck because the choices are plentiful and everything sounds amazing. We ordered the skirt sandwich and the Kickin' Chicken, both to go. Had planned on eating them for a winery picnic but after one bite in the car, we couldn't stop. While both sandwiches were good the steak was the winner. Everything on the sandwich went together perfectly. I'll be thinking about that sandwich for a long time. Sandwiches were pricey but they were made to order and used high quality and fresh ingredients. Don't think I've ever been to a sandwich spot that asked how I wanted my meat cooked until coming here. Hopefully one of these opens in the South Bay soon so I can get my hands on more of those sandwiches!

Stopped by here after a hike and it was the perfect spot for lunch! I ordered the Skirt sandwich which had grilled meyer ranch flank steak, provolone, Roma tomatoes, pickles onion, arugula and rosemary aioli on ciabatta bread. It was super delicious! The meat was tender, juicy and was cooked to my preference of medium. I also had a side order of crispy French fries! When I placed my order they did inform me that to cook the steak it would be about 15- 20 minutes which I appreciated the heads up! It is first come first serve with limited indoor but a lot of open outdoor seating. Ambiance is nice casual and everyone here is very nice and friendly! The service was definitely five stars!

This location is just the worst. They charge a lot for a place that consistently forgets ingredients or entire items. Three of the last four times I have been here multiple items in our group order are wrong. This isn't just a small item is off, it's the entire protein or an entire entree is missing from the bag. Never have these problems at the Marina or Polk locations.

Ever since I've found out about Blue Barn have come an embarrassing number of times. The Tostada I think is fair for the amount of food that you get. All the components go really well together and is also really filling. You would think that it would need a heavier protein but it doesn't. The salad isn't heavy on the stomach and is very satisfying on its own. I personally love how refreshing it is. The staff there even if there's a line out the door (which there almost always is) is always very friendly and very helpful if you ask for recommendations or have any questions overall. Blue Barn is also just a really nice place to slowly eat you food and enjoy the space especially outside in the summer. The atmosphere is very calm even when packed.

Thai Chicken Salad, the salad I compare every other salad I eat to. Obsessed. Consistent over the years. So much food you can turn 1 salad into 2 meals easy and to buy all of these ingredients and then try and remake this myself is waaaay over the 20something I pay for the salad and so worth it. This location is my favorite blue barn cleaner and faster than the others.

I appreciate that Blue Barn uses organic ingredients, and wild caught fish. I enjoy their create your own salads with salmon. They are friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious.

The salads were awesome and my grandson's chicken and fries were also very delicious. The ambience is wonderful. It's surrounded by such a nice outdoor area with wonderful shops.. The service was good you actually order and then go back to pick up your food as everywhere it seemed expensive I believe our bill came out to $90 for 3 adults and one child for lunch Next time I might talk my husband into splitting the salad just to be a little economical . He did finish his but I only ate half lol

Your staff is amazing. Great customer service. I watched as the dining areas were constantly cleaned. Food was amazing as always. My one issue is the flies darting about the indoor dining area, it's disgusting!

Oh my god it's so good. 10/10 my fav spot for sandwiches. I'm a forever pick up and go costumer so I got nothing on ambiance but it's chill most of the time

Located in Corte Madera around the shopping areas we stopped by for lunch. The ambiance was lovely with the farmers market nearby playing music. The staff at the front made great recommendations and was attentive to our needs. The establishment was clean and the food was pretty good. Thank you for the food recommendations and service

Not safe for folks with food allergies. I heard blue barn was supposedly good with food allergies which warranted me to pay more for a salad. I ordered in person so I could inform the staff member that I had celiac and could not eat bread. She assured me that they are very good about cross contamination and would make a note on my order. I then picked up my salad and drove home... I was very disappointed to find a large piece of bread in my salad. Unfortunately I had to throw out the entire thing as this would have definitely caused me to get sick. Will have to think twice before going to blue barn again.

Overpriced and usually lousy customer service getting your order correct less than half the time. So sorry as the food is good but not amazing for $27 for a sale.

$$ but reliable. Honestly always comparing sandwich shops in new places to this one. My go-to's are the skirt steak sandwich and the burrata sandwich. And it seems like they hired some new people because in the last year cus they're super on top of answering the phone and very customer service oriented. There was a time when they seemed to never answer the phone and when they did they sounded super grumpy, tended to mess up my order in some way, but thankfully it seems like those days are over or those people are gone!

Cute atmosphere and perfect night to eat outside. If you want to customize your own salad, it's difficult because of all the choices of toppings/ingredients, and they don't have the ordering card anymore where you can check off what you want. You have to remember what you want to tell the staff. Please change this! Anyhow, we ended up with the Fattoush Salad, the Kickin' Chicken sandwich, and an order of tater tots. The Fattoush salad was very good and had lots of ingredients. Crispy too. Served with a piece of bread. The Kickin' Chicken was also good. Good flavor, not overly sauced, good roll. The tots - oh boy, they were really notably good. Very crispy without being burnt. So perfect! Looking forward to our next visit.

In the Town Center mall there are a number of lunch places and after wandering around a lot, my wife chose the Blue Blue. A place where you order at the entry counter, get a number and find a table. Some indoor seating but, fortunately for California weather, there is a good amount of covered but open outdoor space to sit and eat. Mostly it is like picnic tables that seat 6 - 8, so you might have company, as the two-person and four-person tables are occupied. Very good menu of sandwiches, salads and soups. I think a bit expensive but the portions are quite generous. Wife had a Fattoush salad for $17.95 which was without protein. With protein salads were like $20.95. There are a lot of add-ons for your salads. Not quite my carnivore self place, so I just had a simple sandwich.

Delicious is an understatement! The sandwiches are definitely filling, would stop by anytime I'm in the area. Fries are ok, could use a little more flavor

Food was okay. I had a fattoush salad. The pita in my salad was unremarkable. My husband ended up throwing away his sandwich. The ambiance is zero as you order from a counter like you were at Jack and the box. Yah, no table service tho you wouldn't guess that from the prices. Meh.

Pleasantly surprised by the food. It looked like most people were eating salads but we opted for sandwiches. Ordered the turkey and the clubber. The ciabatta rolls they come in are toasted so that was a nice touch. I had the clubber and really enjoyed it. The sandwiches were generously sized so we each took half home. They had to-go boxes stacked by the entrance which was really convenient. Service was also really friendly. Great casual spot

Most delicious sandwiches and salads. Everything tastes so fresh and has LOADS of flavor. While it is quite expensive I think the huge portions make up for it and the quality! Overall this place will always be a staple restaurant in my books!

Ordered a Chicken Caesar salad to go. Picked it up pretty quickly after ordering and it was ready to go. 1. Chicken Caesar Salad: WOW the portions are huge! Biggest Chinese to go box I've ever seen! When I got home we poured it into a bowl and my gf and I shared it. Super tasty with the perfect amount of salad dressing. Good amount of chicken. Also loved the croutons which were super fresh. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, I'm normally not a salad person but I can definitely eat this everyday. Excellent portions that can feed 2.

Money for value, this place is pretty bad. $20 dollars a salad with no added protein, if you do decide to add some protein, you end up playing close to $30. That being said, the solo salad was pretty small. We ordered the Kale Caesar with dressing on the side, a Buffalo Fry Sandwich, and a side of fries for $5. The salad itself is built well and there are lots of variations for you to choose from should you decide to take the U-Pick salad. Buffalo Fry sandwich was fried chicken breasts, which was in good portion, but still very expensive considering it doesn't come with fries or salad included. Overall, the salad and sandwich didn't taste like it was worth $20 dollars a piece and the environment definitely didn't make up for it either with tables being tight. I think to pay close to $50 for a 2pax casual open seating, self-pick up sando and salad lunch, the value is pretty poor. Fast food environment with 'sit down service' pricing.

The food is amazing! And everyone that worked there was so accommodating and kind. The steak sandwich and salad is incredible. Although sometimes the wait can be long the food is so worth it. The Ambiance was chill, cozy, and sweet.

Decent food, nice staff, but the added service fees are insulting. You're already charging me $20 for a one quart salad and then you add an "Employer Mandate" fee. Have there not always been employer mandates? Why do you now make it an add-on? Pay your people what they demand to do the job and price your products accordingly. Don't insist that is an add-on to your customers! Now they've added an OLO. What is an OLO? That's an "online ordering" fee of an additional 5% of your order total "to cover the cost of the platform". For your webpage? Seriously??? Their OLO platform makes it almost mandatory to tip. For a to-go order of salad? TIP was for a server who came to your table, took your food order, delivered it to you, checked in to make sure you received what you ordered, and asked about dessert. That's what a tip is for. Not a suggested additional 18%-25% for someone to hand you your salad so you can eat elsewhere on your own dishes. Enough! It is insulting and ridiculous. Many of your customers resent these fees. Work it out for your business to be profitable but knock off the additional fees, aka taxes, you impose. And I'm not tipping where there's no server or dining in on your dishes.

My first time here, courtesy of an invitation, and I was not disappointed! This place is in The Village center, and close to the west side just past the Pig place. There is indoor seating, currently closed, but also a decent outside area with small tables and a couple of picnic sized tables. An outdoor heater was close to the building, but if you sat near the mall side you would need layers depending on the weather. The inside has a nice ambience, subdued with a lot of menu boards at one end a a self-serve display of beverages, such as sparkling waters and natural sodas. The staff was very friendly, and this night there was no wait to order. I have heard that at lunch times and weekends the line can be out the door, so I am glad for small miracles like this night! The menus are heavy on salads. You can choose a house designed salad or make up your own. Sandwiches include meats, but there are two veggie (not vegan) options. There is also a kid's menu, and some desserts available, including a tower of varied flavors of rice Krispy squares. We ordered a seasonal "spring" salad, with not one but TWO sides Grilled Niman Flank Steak. We also ordered a tomato bisque soup (they have a soup di jour, but only one option) which came with croutons and two small slices of French bread, and a burrata "grilled" sandwich - fresh mozzarella burrata, Roma tomato, arugula & pesto aioli on a ciabatta roll. The salad was large to begin with, and with the added steak was a meal in and of itself. The soup was tasty, and nice and hot! The sandwich, which online shows as grilled, was tasty and full of cheese and veggies. The ciabatta was nicely toasted and crunchy but not too dried out to be inedible - just right! I'm not fond of arugula, but the amount was good; next time I need to remember extra aioli! The prices can add up - with all the food and two canned sodas - it was $55 for two of us, which I guess can be seen as not too bad, or average for the Village! In any case, it was good food and plentiful. Looking forward to trying the Buddha sandwich next time!
