Arrived at opening time on a Friday at lunch. They had our reservation and took us to a choice of 2 tables. Servers were attentive and pleasant. Some unusual menu items. Willing to switch a side salad for fries. Side salads had mix greens and were tasty. Glad we were there early before the dining room got noisy. Pleasant outdoor seating was also available.

Very inviting and warm place. We went on a Saturday night dinner and it’s perfect. Burrata is the best and dessert was exceptional.

My daughter in-laws made reservations for my birthday & Fathers day. The food was so amazing!! loved everything that came to table. Loved being there, it's a favorite! Can't wait to go back to eat outside with the beautiful plants and waterfall.

Google
The food was very good. I had an Asian tuna salad which had Napa and soba noodles. The tuna was a little overcooked., but the seasoning was great. My husband had twin 3 oz filets, one topped with crab meat and the best bearnaise sauce I've ever had. The second was topped with bacon jam and Bleu cheese. The filets were cooked perfectly.

My wife and I came for Sunday brunch. We made a reservation for 10:00 when they opened. We were seated immediately. The interior in the bar area was very nice with a warm and welcoming vibe. There were large open doors that led to a beautiful outdoor area and was perfect for the comfortable weather that morning. The food was excellent, the coffee was hot and good, and the mimosas were crisp and delicious! I ordered the chef’s special omelette and a side of sage sausage. My wife ordered the breakfast flatbread. We also ordered the pastry basket. We took leftovers home. We will definitely return for brunch again or for dinner. Highly recommended!

Google
What an unexpected and wonderful experience I had tonight. Grabbed some dinner here after drinks at a work event. Drinks, to apps, through entree were fantastic. It was the best meal I have had in quite some time across the country. The calamari is a must get. I will go out of my way the next time I am in the area to come back to the Blue Bell.

Google
We had an outstanding experience last night at the Blue Bell Inn. Five stars in every category, from food to service to the atmosphere (highly recommend eating in the outside patio, beautiful). The food was phenomenal. I had the filet, and my husband had the salmon. Both dishes we're cooked to absolute perfection. And our server (I think her name was Paige) took great care of us. She was very welcoming, pleasant, and attentive. I'm looking forward to the next time we dine at the Blue Bell Inn.

Google
The hostess staffing was excellent! Even though we were originally seated in another dining area, they accommodated our request and found us a table in the bar area. The atmosphere was lively, and the musician was fantastic—he even sang the Philadelphia Eagles fight song, which had the whole place energized! The food was absolutely delicious, making the entire experience even better. We’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
Haven't been to the BBI since pre-Covid, and we were treated like royalty by Les and the staff tonight. My friend and I sat in the Oak Room (My favorite room) for my birthday dinner. Once again, I enjoyed the Seafood Wedge salad - so perfectly crisp and fresh and chock full or tender shrimp and large lumps of sweet crabmeat. Love it. The I had the twin 3 oz filet mignon (app) which made a petite meal for me. My friend got the salmon and it looked scrumptious. Dessert were poached pears over a crumble, served warm with rich and tasty vanilla ice cream and a sweet caramel sauce. Even indulged in a latte. A 5 star service and culinary experience. Yes, it really was that good.

Yelp
The food was ok here. I forgot to take pictures I had a dozen of oysters, calamari, lobster, asparagus & mashed potatoes... and some yummy stoli dry martinis w/ extra olives. Our server was awesome his name was Hunter, he was great very attentive he was on the ball! The ambiance was cool it looks like everyone came out to eat on a Thursday night. I would definitely go back!

Yelp
Exquisite decor, with outdoor and indoor seating. We were seated upstairs which had a rich array of wines on display. Got the soup of the day and crab cake sandwich. Service was OK, nothing special, nothing to complain about. Pricey place, good for a date or company lunch

Yelp
This was my first time here, as my "Aunt" invited us for lunch. They can accommodate any size group. This place has many rooms and seating in each. There's a bar as well as outdoor seating with heaters. The menu was a large variety and very well prepared. I had the Philadelphia plate which came with chicken salad and fried oysters. Everything was delish. The homemade raspberry sorbet was good and can be shared. The ambiance was lovely and classy and the service was excellent. This is definitely going to be a go to for my friends in the future. Prices were nice as well.

Yelp
We gathered at the Blue Bell Inn on Saturday for a long overdue get to gather with our friends. The food was delicious. All ours orders were correct, served timely, and the presentations were excellent. The room setting was comfortable and well lighted.

Yelp
The Blue Bell Inn is still serving over priced, unnecessarily complicated mediocre food. The outdoor space is nice although not as packed as that pizza joint across the street. The waitstaff and people at the hostess station were really nice, as always. Food? We were served combination of cold flatbread and bad overpriced steaks with cold mashies on the side. The thumping music that was played all night in the dining room doesn't fit with the BBI vibe. As always, BBI is the perfect spot if you have low expectations and a large wallet.

Yelp
Everything about the ambiance the food and the service is so brilliant. That is why I love this place.

Yelp
I've reviewed this place before, and it was great then. Still great now. Great ambiance, wonderful service (usually), and delicious food. They have some great cocktails, too. Wonderful brunch, and an excellent raw bar. Parking is definitely a bit of a trick, mainly because they reserve so many spaces for valet. Honestly not that big a deal though. Overall, a great place, bit on the pricey side, but good food, good ambiance, good service, good drinks.

Yelp
My mouth is watering as I type this because the Nutella Panini sandwich is to die for!!! Wow. The chef who made this did a perfect job because it wasn't too sweet. I will definitely come back here just for this sandwich. The BBI Homemade Beignets and the Chorizo Hash were also two good choices. The mimosas were made strong and were priced extremely fair per glass. My mom and I are already talking about when we will be returning!

Yelp
Nice historic inn. I had the iceberg wedges with shrimp and crab. Delicious, with a good size portion and ample shrimp and crab. My wife had the filet mignon with roast potato: a 6 oz. Filet medallion cut in two, with potato sticks. Tasty, but a less than ample portion. Dessert was peanut butter Oreo pie. Quite tasty and big enough to share. Service was efficient and friendly.

Yelp
It's a solid option for dinner or brunch in the area that is similar to the William Penn Inn but a bit more low key, with outdoor seating and a large central bar. The food is okay - it's solid but a bit on the greasy side and the kitchen seemed a bit understaffed as it took a while to get our dishes and there were a few mistakes. That aside, the seating is pretty comfortable and it's close and convenient. 3 stars for the food, 4 for the ambiance, and 3 for the service. I will round to 4 only for the convenience factor.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty disappointed with our experience here. We were excited to try this historic place and it was just a disappointment. Started with placing us in full direct sunlight indoors even though there were plenty of other tables available. Was just uncomfortable and hot the entire meal. Waitress spilled my drink while serving it. Food was pretty meh. Had the wasabi crusted ahi tuna, think they forgot the wasabi all together, lacked flavor was cut way too thick was chewy and unappetizing. My aunt had the short ribs they were tough and needed a knife to get through. We won't be back, price doesn't match the quality.

Yelp
went here for a work meeting. Food was great full open bar was magnificent. Ambience was so good. I had never been in a place like that before. Very attentive and so friendly. Best place for a celebratory dinner!

Yelp
Came here on the weekend for lunch with my friend. Lots of parking available (self park). We were sat in the back dining area in a room with outdoor landscape wallpaper. The staff were nice and did their jobs well but I wasn't blown away. We ordered a cup of soup de jour, Caesar salad, All American Burger and Roast Pork Sandwich. We shared the Vanilla Bean crème brûlée. All were very good! It was a bit difficult to pay our bill at the end, we waited about 20 minutes until we saw a staff member to request to pay. I would consider coming back here though.

Lawrence M.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner. Started with appetizers and just kept ordering all the interesting ones off the menu. Had a dinner of apps. Each one was unique and delicious. Our server Joe was fantastic-attentive, friendly and informed about each of the menu items. We had a wonderful dinner.
google avatar

Cam F.

Yelp
The oysters were delicious. The lobster roll was laughable for $34. Blows my mind. It was 3 tiny bites, such a rip off. The old fashioned was ok not great. My daughter loved the Shirley temple.
google avatar

Gerald B.

Yelp
Eating here is a treat for us. The food is very delicious. We had the Filet Mignon Duo, Crispy Calamari, and Oreo Peanut Butter Pie for dinner. The section in which we ate had the ambiance of a sports bar rather than the ambiance of an inn of the original building. The seasonal sorbet capped off a wonderful meal.

Matthew G.

Yelp
Went for brunch. Large place, we were seated up a level down a hall that led to a very pleasant and spacious dining room. Classy but unpretentious atmosphere. Classic but not stodgy menu. Attentive but not intrusive service. Delicious food and drink. The breakfast cocktails were excellent and well-priced. I liked the Bloody Mary so much I had two! I had the short rib sandwich with easy over egg on top, fried onions, cheese sauce, plus potatoes. Tender and delicious. It didn't look that large when it arrived, but it was plenty. I wound up taking a third of it home for lunch the next day. We lingered long after the meal and did not feel hurried by the staff. Everybody liked what they ordered very much. Will definitely return soon.

Yelp
Really nice beautiful place. We sat in the bar area and had a good time. The restaurant is very large with multiple seating areas and even has two bars. The main bar area is very dark lighting and made it a bit hard to see/ challenging for my eyes to focus. Otherwise it's a nice atmosphere. They provide fresh warm bread to the table which pairs went with burrata salad. The burrata comes with watermelon which was a great flavor pairing I've never had before. Highly recommend. The Caesar salad was delish. I'm a fan of Caesar dressings that have a hit of anchovy flavor and this one was a perfect balance. The burger and fries were good but nothing exceptional. My friend said the same about the pasta. The dessert was good but the raspberry overpowered the lemon flavor.

Yelp
Lordy lordy, blue bell inn was just the cats pajamas. Snagged a reservation on a Saturday at 6:00 for an anniversary dinner and BBI did not disappoint. Very pleased with the service and their attention to detail. What we snagged: -Buratta with a watermelon, arugula salad (VERY flavorful) -Shrimp cocktail (LARGE shrimpers with a tasty cocktail sauce. Good value) -Filet (Great style and amazing mashed) -Short Rib (Fall apart good...highly recommend) -Peanut butter pie with an anniversary message. Great touch. Cocktails were great too. We snagged a spicy margarita and their BBI Old Fashion. After dinner espresso martinis were THE BEST we've had. Overall, WOW. Will 100% be back for a special occasion.

Yelp
Blue Bell Inn never fails to impress! The ambiance is the epitome of class. The food is AMAZING and always prepared to perfection! The filet duo is an absolute go-to for happy hour. The bar staff are such a pleasure and genuinely seem to enjoy their craft (pro-tip: DJ makes the best blueberry lemondrop martinis around!)... Keep doing what you're doing, BBI!

Yelp
Brought the family here to celebrate my son's birthday. It was the end of a long day and the kids were about to fall asleep but hands down all agree, dinner was great. We started with appetizers of cheesesteak dumplings, chicken bites, crab cakes, short rib tacos and veggie flatbread. We could have stopped there, all were delicious. My daughter loved the skirt steak, I loved the Maryland crab soup, beet salad and seafood pasta which was full of lump crab and prawns. My husband's blue cheese burger was unfortunately well done but they made good on it. Creme brulee and chocolate cake were delightful. I think my kids will pick this place again to celebrate in the future.

Yelp
We have been here a number of times. We sit at the bar for either lunch or Happy Hour. The food is ok. The seafood bar is exceptional. However, the bartenders are inattentive at best. At lunch they stand and have long conversations with their regulars. At Happy Hour there a number of bartenders gathering around and talking amongst themselves as we are awaiting service. This happens often. Today at lunch the bartender was particularly overwhelmed. we live minutes away and for the first time will consider other alternatives

Yelp
Amazing food. We ate in the beautiful mural room. Food was great. Service was good. It was very special.

Yelp
Great place with good food and fun history. Beautiful patio area in the courtyard and dining in the front also.

Yelp
Amazing environment. Exquisite service. We had the Ahi Tuna Tartare and the Margherita Flatbread to share and some delicious cocktails. Looking forward to going back for dinner!

Yelp
My experience at Blue Bell Inn was great. The service was good and the waiter was nice. The wait time for the food wasn't to long it was only about 8-10 minutes. Once I received the food I was not disappointed, the servings were large and the taste was great. Throughout the meal the waiters were kind and checked in with us to make sure everything was okay. Overall the experience was great although the food was very pricey. In conclusion this is a great place to go if you're willing to pay a decent amount of money. 4/5 stars would recommend.

Yelp
The last time I wrote about the Blue Bell Inn on Yelp was before the pandemic. It is still fabulous! Every morsel of food was sublime, especially the stir-fry vegetables and the striped bass and the chocolate peanut butter dessert. But my main reason for writing this is to praise Sally, a server who has been there for about 7 or 8 years. It is worth going there just to have Sally as your server. She ALWAYS comes to the table with a smile, is very pleasant, sweet and efficient. She is a treasure, and the Blue Bell Inn is so lucky to have her. She definitely enhanced our already great experience. The only negative, as I wrote four years ago, is the supersonic noise level indoors. It is unbearable! But the outdoor patio is beautiful, very comfortable and with a very reasonable noise level.

Christine S.

Yelp
Went in for lunch and the Tall Great Blonde Hair Bartender highly recommended the $10 Berger n Brew . She was right ,,, for $10 you get a well cooked medium Berger and crispy fries!!!! The bar was packed and she was very attentive, never had to ask for another beer she just poured it !! My go to from now on for out to LUNCH .

Yelp
I went in person, two weeks prior, to make a reservation for my Dad's 65th birthday. The host walked me through each room and showed me the table we'd be at. A quiet table in the back for the 7 of us to be able to enjoy each other and our conversation. The night we arrived, we were seated in the bar area NEXT TO THE BAND. Couldn't hear each other and it killed it. Also, I had asked for first choice to be outside and they said they couldn't seat 7 people outside. Meanwhile, we watched a large round table outside of empty the entire night. The consolation was getting dessert covered (only ordered one dessert). We won't be taking our events to BBI in the future. Ps food: my salmon was over cooked; a guest's steak was undercooked; you get the idea. Hit or miss @ this establishment.

John S.

Yelp
Food is great, Service is excellent, Crowd is impressive. Costly but worth going back

Yelp
Booked a table ahead of time on opentable, when we arrived we were seated right away. The hostess was really nice asking us if we wanted a table inside or outside in their adorable little court yard. I ordered their BBI Moscow Mule which was had a fruity crisp light taste, my partner ordered the Caribbean Heat which he loved said it was really well composed the sweetness of the coconut pairing well with the spice of the jalapeño. For starters we had the ahi tuna tartare which was fresh and well seasoned and we ordered a starter called toast which was amazing the creamy ricotta & mascarpone, sweet strawberry fig jam, and salty crispy prosciutto paired so well together and the drizzled balsamic glaze over it just helped all the flavors meld together...it was delicious. For dinner I had the bronzino which came on a bed of creamy pesto angle hair topped with a bit of crab puttanesca sauce which was really good but had too many capers and olives so I pushed pushed most of those to the side. My partner's main was a perfectly cooked, well seasoned ribeye and he swapped the mashed potatoes for fries, he was very happy with his choice. For dessert he ordered a vanilla bean crème brûlé which was creamy and perfectly sweet without being overwhelmingly so and then I had this amazing thing that was dark chocolate pot de crème topped with crushed chocolate covered espresso beans and crushed hazelnuts then topped with an espresso moose it was one of the best desserts I've ever had. Needless to say we will definitely be dining here again in the future

Yelp
We came here for my grandmothers birthday party. The staff helped us pick out a menu for the party. Really awesome historical venue. The room they gave us was lovely. The staff were very attentive. The filet was delicious! Highly recommend!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have come here a few times and it's been excellent every time. Great staff, food and drinks.

Yelp
Went here for a birthday party and the food and ambiance did not disappoint. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly. The crab appetizers were decent. I loved the historical theme. However, the food was a bit overpriced and the cake, although pretty, was terrible.

Yelp
The service was fantastic, the atmosphere is wonderful, this is a very beautiful restaurant with many facets. Formal dining bar room, dining, patio, dining. It has it all! The burrata with beets was amazing! Cuban coffee martini and the brown sugar pumpkin cake.

Yelp
Delicious. A touch of elegance. 17th century warmth, 21st century hospitality. Timeless cuisine.

Cindi W.

Yelp
Food was very good. Lunch crowd was light so food was out fast. Service was very nice and professional. There were some weird flies flying around but it might have been from the doors being opened.

Yelp
Another celebratory dinner this time it was at the Blue Bell lnn I had the fillet which was really really good .. The atmosphere gives me high end vibes so I would come dress up if I was coming .. The waiters was good and very professional no complaints..

Yelp
We had a wonderful retirement dinner planned. The wait staff were wonderful and why I am giving the Inn a 3, otherwise the event staff would have received a 1. The manager and events staff did not perform to basic expectations. So many things were not handled properly for this expensive four hour dinner that impacted our event of 68 attendees. I was very dissappointed. First the events team are young, inexperienced and not as customer focused as they should be for this level of clientele. They had more excuses then genuine apologies when I brought the omissions/errors to their attention. There response was oh well and one excuse after another! The lack of customer care are as follows: 1. We were to have a microphone - it was not charged... this was a retirement dinner where people wanted to share stories... this did not happen and nothing was done to get us one. 2. The manager on duty I saw once and that was it. She should have been moving around the room telling people to partake in the appetizer station (many did not know that was available). She should have been going around the room when dessert was served so guests knew to go to the ice cream bar she did not. 3. The manager should have made sure my husband and I were taken care of... she did not. This is due to her lack of experience. But this Inn is high end and their staff should be trained in this level of customer service. 4. We had to have three additional seats brought into the tables. I had communicated this change first thing in the morning and was given a little lecture on how nothing else could be changed. Adding three chairs is not a big deal and should have been dealt with with genuine grace and care. Spending over $10000 should have incited someone to make this happen. Unfortunately the wait staff had to deal with this in the evening since the events team did not. 5. When we dropped off items in the morning the tables were set with the wrong linens. Where was management to make sure everything was handled properly. What would have happened had we not come in earlier... I would have had to deal with yet another mistake. I would recommend you take great care in any large event you plan at this venue as their events staff are not trained properly and you may need to do their work.

Yelp
Came here for a large private business dinner and I'm so happy my company chose this place! First of all- the restaurant is beautiful!! The private room is also beautifully decorated! We had a huge party so I think it was slightly overwhelming for the staff so thankfully the wine was constantly being poured! Ok, so you might think I'm crazy but the most memorable thing about my dinner was the bread with sweet butter! I kept asking asking for more! Overall, a positive delicious dinner!

Marilyn G.

Yelp
Good food, service and a lot of ambiance. Would recommend. I will be going back soon.
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
The food was okay, but over priced. The service was poor, our waitress was hard to find when we needed something. Just felt that if I'm spending $400 plus for a party of 4 people, I would expect everything to be perfect.

Kim R.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant now. Great menu and wonderful atmosphere. Food is perfection. Tons of choices.

Yelp
We visited here for brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. The server was good and the menu offered a nice variety - I think a vegetarian friendly menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal, I had the avocado toast that included 2 poached eggs and home fries; everything was good - the home fries could have used more seasoning but the avocado toast that had arugula on top with the poached egg was yummy!!! Parking is tight, we did valet because there were no non-valet spaces by the time we arrived, valet was fast and friendly. I would visit here again.

Yelp
In my opinion, more expensive than its worth. The food was really good and had good portion sizes, but it didn't need to be as much money as it was. The staff was very nice and hard working. The layout was good as well, plenty of room to walk around and not too crowded, although it was a bit loud. All together a pretty nice place but not at all my style or for people in my tax bracket.

Yelp
Wow! Blue Bell Inn did an amazing job organizing for a small family birthday gathering. Our server Tom was very helpful and attentive. We started with drinks and appetizers which were all awesome. The tots and calamari were a hit. Also don't sleep on the cheesesteak dumplings if you want a unique twist on an app. All of our entrees were unreal. The pork and flatbreads were a hit! If you are looking for a nice night out or want to celebrate a special occasion, this is the place to go!
