Blue Bird Haus

I ordered takeout at Blue Bird Haus on a Friday evening. I ordered online and received quick confirmation and my order was ready fairly quickly as well. It's surprisingly difficult to find sushi places that serve vegan rolls other than avocado/cucumber rolls. Blue Bird Haus has a wonderful selection of vegan rolls, ramen, and appetizers, and more. I ordered the V-Alaskan roll and veggie egg rolls. It was so delicious and filling. FYI it does come with pickled ginger and wasabi and the V-Alaskan is 8 rolls. While delicious, it is pretty expensive but that's to be expected as plant-based alternatives are usually pricey. Either way, this place is delicious and I definitely recommend it.

This was the best vegan sushi I have ever tried. There are so many options, more than most places that offer vegan sushi have. I ordered the mini mix and match vegan rolls and they were so cute and delicious. The crunchy tofu roll was also so good. The atmosphere was really pretty and the ladies working here are SO sweet. I wish I lived closer, I would come here all the time.

Lovely service and amazing vegan sushi

I have become a regular here and for good reason. They have the bombest vegan sushi + the sweetest people that work here. It’s also such a compromise to come here with friends as half of their menu is non-vegan so everyone wins. I am happy to have a vegan sushi spot nearby and it always hits the spot… the salmon roll is my absolute fave and don’t forget to walk out with some garlic chili oil from Spicy Kitchen on your way out!

We finally found the best sushi place! Alot of vegan options that are very good rolls. I love this place . Highly recommended I wish they will bring back the V Alaskan roll

So nice to find a place that serves vegan sushi that’s not just avocado rolls. I had the crispy tofu rolls and they were delicious. The portions were also generous.

Everything was amazing. We had salmon hand rolls, poke salad and Thai boba tea. Everything tastes amazing, size was slightly bigger than in other poke/sushi places.

The food is so good! I got the Godzilla roll and tuna crispy rice and they were delicious! Service was great and they are very fast! I will definitely be coming back!

Found a place with tons of vegan options for someone in our group. Service was excellent. I had the tuna stacked on seaweed salad with spicy mayo and wonton chips. Loved it. My daughter got some vegan dishes and she loved hers, too. Her gf got ramen and she also said it was delicious. Too much to finish in one meal, she took half home. I live in IL but would absolutely go back. Luckily they live a couple blocks away and will be regular customers. Cute place, also!

Wow! This place is really a hidden gem. The Krab Rangoons & fried Gyosa were delicious. The waiter was additionally friendly.

Came here on a Tuesday at 6:30pm. No line to order we sat down enough seating and clean. QR code for the menu and service was quick. They had a sign but one get other roll 50% off which was awesome. We ordered the Baked Salmon & Avocado Roll it was bomb definitely recommend! The Philadelphia Roll which was good a bit too much cream cheese but that my preference. And the Blue Bird Roll which was good. Overall good food and nice little spot.

Food was incredible! I'm trying to eat more plant based, first time trying vegan dishes and I was blown away. Ordered the appetizer platter and loved it. The calamari superb. The mayo sauce was delicious. The avocado crispy rice was amazing. Loved it all Service was excellent! Cute, clean, and very healthy spot.

I've been coming to bluebird for years now and they never disappoint. The restaurant is relatively small but the food is delicious. I'm vegan and they have vegan menu options alone with regular options as well. The staff is always friendly and the prices are reasonable. Street parking is tough because there's no parking lot but I usually end up finding a spot. I love Bluebird!

No more 'Catch & Release!!" VEGAN Sushi at its best!! I've been wondering how vegan sushi compares to regular sushi. We'll, Bluebird Haus has set the bar and, it's high!! This is a very cute, small neighborhood business that has taken sushi to the next level. The selections are vast, the ingredients are fresh and the flavors are really good. The vegan chicken appetizer had me fooled... I took a bite and froze... I thought I 100% just bit into real chicken. But, NOPE, it was a delicious plant based chicken appetizer. However, if you're not a vegan or vegetarian, no problem! Bluebird Haus Sushi has all the delicacies you'd expect from a traditional sushi place. The prices here for both vegan and non-vegan sushi are the same as other places and parking can be a little challenging but, those will be small sacrifices compared to the food.

Great staff. Super informative and helpful. The food was great, and it was wonderful that they had both vegan and non vegan options that were separately made (cutting boards, frying oil, etc). All of the sauces are vegan as well! Will absolutely be coming back.

Best vegan sushi I've had. We tried vegan tuna roll, vegan salmon roll, vegan crunchy tofu and red dragon. All spot on, full of flavor. But tuna roll is the best. The service was attentive and quick. Definitely coming back!

I've been coming here for years and love that I have Ramen available to me walking distance from where I live. I've had both the standard and vegan ramen and have been pleased with both. I've had had both standard sushi rolls and vegan and have also been pleased with both. Service is here is always top notch. When you're here, you definitely get a neighborhood community vibe. Last time I dined here, Frank, who works at the Thai restaurant next door, came in, jokingly accusing of cheating on him while eating here while our Bluebird server laughed. This is definitely a spot worth checking out and makes it a point to be welcoming of all patrons.

This place is in my neighborhood. I hadn't been back since Covid started so when my vegan friend came to town for the holidays, I took her here. First I'll review the fish (non vegan): the fish was great. I tried the sashimi, the rolls and the fried rolls. All were delicious. My friend tried the vegan tuna and the vegan "salmon". She loved it. I also tried it and it's weird how close to actual fish it is! Tastes almost like fish! I was impressed. They use Jackfruit, but wow it looks just like actual tuna. The place is clean and comfortable and the servers were great. Prices are not bad at all. I'd say it's a great place to take people who don't eat fish,yet offer real fish for those who are not vegan. Parking is tough just like anywhere down by the beach, but this place is worth it. I'm glad I live around the corner.

Simple sushi selection with quality and consistency delivered every time. The menu isn't long but it's solid. I'd recommend the following items: Seared Salmon Nigiri - yummmm Cucumber Salad Crunchy Spicy Tuna Delight Crunchy Roll Spicy Salmon Also the staff are so friendly. We like to stop in after weeknight walks with the dog down Broadway and they make sure we have a spot outside. Bring the pup a bowl of water and shower him with love. Cute space, small but very inviting. Near other spots for drinks and eats. Good for a work week nibble, date night putting or stop on the way to Black with the mates. Also love that they offer vegan options of all rolls.

I had no idea there was such a funky, cool, sushi/ramen hybrid within walking distance from my apartment! I walked over here Saturday evening after a swim and had such a nice little meal. Loved the vibe, the service, and the food. The tonkatsu ramen had such a tasty smooth broth and a perfectly soft boiled egg. I also tried a few of the vegan sushi rolls as well as a few non-vegan ones and they were all great. Recommend the seared tuna roll and trying your go at the various rolls on the menu; they are definitely those extravagant rolls with mayo and all the fixings, so if you're craving some of those; this is a good place for it. All in all, it was super reasonable and we even got a lemonade for checking in Yelp :)

Wow! Vegan sushi??? It tasted and felt like real fish. The roll I got had a choice of vegan tuna or vegan salmon. Got the salmon and looking forward to coming back and trying the tuna next time. The fried tofu was great, fried perfectly, not overcooked. The dipping sauce was tasty and paired well with the tofu. Oolong tea was delicious, earthy and not overpowering. Will be returning with friends next time!

John is a very sweet character. Plenty of vegan options( in fact half of the menu), and plenty delicious.

We came to try the vegan inari and the vegan curry ramen and both were really really good!! This is my new favorite inari and probably my new favorite ramen too! The lady working inside when I came to pick up my order was super nice and friendly and everything was clean and nicely presented. The food was super fresh and really had a lot of flavor. I'm glad they have great vegan options I'll definitely come back here again.

Amazing food, great service, street parking is easy. Very creative vegan sushi. No idea what the regular menu is like because we only ordered off the vegan menu. Please specify vegan to your server since there are many rolls with the same name. We got the crispy avocado to start. The sauce was delicious and the rice perfectly crisp without being hard to chew. Then we got the vegan tempura roll drizzled with vegan eel sauce and some creamy orange sauce with tempura asparagus on top. After this, we got the vegan alaskan dragon with the realistic looking v-salmon followed by the tofu crunchy roll (this was more classic but better with the fried onion on top) and the vegan red dragon roll (with the v-tuna). We finished off with the vegan popcorn roll. It looks a little messy but so good with the deep fried cauliflower on top. We got a couple sauces on the side too and that elevated the experience. I liked how they served the rolls one at a time so we could really savor each one on its own. The vegan tuna and salmon look so real! I think they got the texture down pat without the fishiness of the real thing (disclaimer: it's been years for me). Those rolls were the highlight for me. If I had any complaints, it felt like there was a bit too much fried rolls (popcorn roll, tofu crunchy, and tempura roll) but that can easily be balanced out with ordering a more balanced set next time. Excited to come back!

Bluebird Haus is located in a small strip with other small restaurants and cute homes. I ordered the poke salad bowl and there was a generous amount of fish! Prices are reasonable and the owner is very kind. There were some small flies roaming around our table but they were not too bothersome, would definitely come again!

Vegan review: I think this place is a good choice if you're going out with non-vegan people who want regular sushi, but as a stand-alone place for vegan food I would not come back nor recommend it. Everything was just... mediocre. I got what was recommended to me as the best and most popular vegan options. The veggie gyoza were extremely underwhelming, as was the store-bought sweet chili sauce it was served with. The veggies inside were soggy and not seasoned. The red dragon roll was the best roll we got. The mock fish on top was great, it was just lacking a little bit of flavor. My brother said it didn't taste like anything. The server recommended the popcorn roll, which was actually my least favorite. The deep fried cauliflower with the spicy mayo was too much and the roll was plain. They didn't go well together and were not good enough as stand-alones. The last roll we got was the crunchy tofu roll, which was underwhelming and tasted mostly like soy sauce for some reason. It was not bad but it was not great. I will say that I've had excellent vegan sushi in LA and San Francisco, so my vegan sushi standards are high. By no means was the food bad, it just was not great. I don't think this meal should've been $60. I will say though that the service was good and ambiance was nice sitting outside during the sunset. One of the tables though was next to a plant which attracted a lot of bugs and another table had bird poop all over it. Parking was also a nightmare on a Saturday evening.

This place is absolutely amazing, and it's surprising that we go and it's not packed every night. This quiet and quaint place offers both vegan and non vegan sushi options and best of all, ramen. Owner is there every day and she definitely works hard being server and chef. The vegan sushi she produces is definitely aesthetically pleasing and tastes so good! The music is definitely a great plus and had me wiggling in my seat with great food and music. This is our second visit and we definitely are coming back for more. Also, there are dine-in specials too! Great eats!

food is a bit bland unfortunately, i used to go there religiously but it's just not the same anymore. rice was hard and old. i miss how it used to be :/

I really enjoyed my quick dinner and the extensive and delicious vegan menu. My day was a bit stressful and the minute I entered the restaurant John ( my server) greeted me with a warm smile and positive energy. It's a small but comfortable dining room. Not only was John's service efficient, but he even took the time to share with me that they have two separate fryers for vegan and non vegan items. As a vegan, I appreciate how amazing and thoughtful that is. He checked to made sure I was comfortable often, and I must say the food was delicious. I tried the veggie gyozas(so good), the vegan salmon and vegan tuna avocado nigiri( it was covered in a light citrus which was epic) , and the red dragon roll. Omg! I will be back! Glad to have had a great meal to end the day.

I really loved Bluebird Haus. The sushi was delicious, and everyone was so friendly. Having the options of non-meat options is so great for friends who are vegetarian. I tried their poke bowl and found it so refreshing. Will definitely go back!

First time eating here and it won't be the last! Delicious food! Everything we got was great! The veggie tempura roll and vegetarian salmon are proof that vegan options are just as good, maybe even better :) Our waiter was attentive, kind and offered great options. We sat outside since it was a lovely day, but everything was clean indoors and had a nice vibe to it. This spot was a 10 outta 10, would eat at again !

This is my favourite sushi place in long beach, I love the variety of plant based options they have! My favourite is the veggie tempura roll because the serving is bigger compared to other rolls and the deep fried topping/sauce is delicious. Cute family run business, super welcoming and friendly - highly recommend overall!

Went there recently and it was some of the best sushi i've had, and it was all vegan! The service was good though when i entered i wasn't sure if i was supposed to wait to be seated or not. If you're in the area, this is a must-try.

Creative & delicious, Bluebird Haus Sushi has arrived as a clutch planet in the dual solar systems of *Sushi and *Vegan orbits of Long Beach. In the heart of deep Pride-Land LB, on Broadway near the Falcon Bar, my wife and I were greeted by the thoughtful co-owner Nuk, from Thailand. It was a quiet Thursday at noon and the place was open for business, pumping out house-techno music. We sat on the front concrete bench side by side so we could see the wide open world roll by. It's a unique spot, Broadway Street in this area has a fair few dog owners and alt lifestyles so lots to see as we ate. We chose Thai Iced Tea with Coconut Milk, an Avocado Inari dish, a cucumber roll and a an Avocado Poke Tofu Bowl. All items were top notch as was the service. The owner took her time with us as it was slow. My personal fave was the Avocado Poke Tofu bowl. It's just a great spot in a fun area of town. Food is spot on and owner is motivated to make it work. Stop in and enjoy some food and good times. Yep, a quality spot for Vegan Sushi! They also have the traditional Sushi too.

In August a friend of mine told me about this place, and that they had amazing vegan drumsticks. After that I was hooked! Their vegan rolls are amazing. I love that they cater to people who are plant based as well. I feel a lot less left out. The owner is super nice, and the food comes out fast. Please support this shop!!

Good sushi, good size portions and even better customer service. Only thing I would not repeat was the calamari. It's premade and mor minced calamari. So not made in house or fresh. The sushi and miso were very good. Went in late on Mother's Day after being out and about with kids+hubby. Looking for something lighter but good and healthy-ish found this little gem where food was served fairly quickly but didn't taste rushed. Have I had more fancy places with lists and lists of sushi options? Yes but didn't I always get it from people who seemed happy I was there ? Umm no. This place you can feel welcomed (doggies too) and eat in the small front cafe feeling good about the price (Chirashi was $18).

The sushi is SO fresh and delicious!! I'm so happy I decided to make a stop on my walk around the neighborhood. I'm hooked and love that it's a short walk away from home The owners and staff are so gracious and kind souls which is a major plus.

I have NEVER had such great quality sushi , fish , Eel , ramen , etc. everything that comes out of this kitchen is ridiculously delicious. I have had the opportunity to eat fresh fish that was just pulled from the ocean and it does not compare to this place. The service is phenomenal. They are kind and welcoming and very attentive to everyone who walks in. 10/10 service. It is a very laid back spot great for a date or for just lunch.

This is a small unassuming restaurant, but everything about it was excellent. The people that run it are honest and friendly, and the food was beyond my expectations, especially the Chashu in the Ramen! I'll try the sushi next time.

Thought I'd try a new sushi place off Broadway and Falcon. Cute little restaurant with small footprint. It has indoor and outdoor seating. Nice japanese decor and ambiance. I think it's a family run business since there was a child or two working and being cute little helpers. They have appetizers, ramen and sushi on their menu. We got Thai iced teas since there are no beers are sakes. The waitress accidentally brought me a thai iced coffee, which was unexpected. Seemed pretty good but not what I ordered. Was easily fixed. I had high hopes, but was just a little disappointed. The tempura was served very oily and had to take about 4 napkins to soak up the oil. The spicy salmon rolls were very tasty with a side of ginger and wasabi. The fried Philadelphia rolls were overdone and whatever was inside was hard and overcooked. if you're going to visit this place, i would stay away from anything fried. I hope they work out these kinks in the kitchen, because it could be a nice, quaint sushi place to revisit, but I think i will just move on to the next and wish them luck

Ok food was great. We ordered for a pick up. The place is tiny and a little funky but we took our food home and it was delicious. Would totally order again.

Great sushi place with amazing rolls and service! I loved that they even had real wasabi. We ordered the Delight Crunchy Shrimp Roll and the Mango Rock and Roll along with an order of pork gyoza. The rolls were delicious and very generous in size. I loved that they weren't stingy with the garnishes (the crunch and the mango). Nice little neighborhood gem, I would definitely come back again. Oh and the Thai Tea....yum!!

The food was OK, I definitely have had better. They do not offer alcohol. The service was nice. The prices were reasonable and they were super friendly. I can't say that I will be back! The ambience is happy.

I ordered the Salmon nigiri and the salmon roll. Neither of these dishes came with any wasabi, which was surprising and disappointing at the same time. My food took about 25 minutes to come out and I really did not order much and was one of three people in the restaurant. It's a small place, so that could be why it took so long. The server was very nice and attentive! I probably won't try it again anytime soon. It just seems like they still have some work to do.

I'd give 10 stars if I could!!!!! The ramen is insanely delicious. Andrew is awesome. EXCELLENT vegan options. My fav ram DB is the curry one with the dumplings and I ask for the spinach ramen. SO GOOD!!!!!!! Service is excellent. Great little hole in the wall.

Love this place . I am vegan and at times it's hard to find a place that serves fulfilling food. I tried their sol la'gyoza, it was so flavorful. Also love their service here , it's so welcoming . Love coming here with my vegan and non vegan friends. It has the best of both worlds!

Always love a place where me and my wife can eat without compromising taste. I'm vegan she's not and having a place that caters to both of us is so great. When I'm craving sushi is our go to. Staff is friendly. Love that you can try local vendors with the display at the register. And we feel so comfortable with all the Pride decorations. Good food. Good people. Good ambience. Vegan and non-vegan friendly.

Miso soup was tasty, tuna sashimi wasn't, seared salmon roll was nothing special, and menu was very limited for selection with no eel on the menu. Hot green tea wasn't the best as a tea bag which I would have skipped to save time as it took a while to bring. Service was friendly, Ambiance was a bit uncomfortable, it doesn't feel like a restaurant to me.
