Absolutely love this place! The matcha latte is hands-down one of the best I’ve ever had—smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. I also tried the ginger shot, which packed a spicy punch but felt incredibly refreshing. The avocado toast? A total winner—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly, attentive, and really knew their stuff, even during busy hours. Yes, it gets crowded at times, but that only proves how popular and consistent the quality is. Whether you're stopping in for a quick pick-me-up or a chill coffee break, this spot hits all the right notes. Will definitely be back again soon!

Went here many times due to a conference. The coffee and matcha latte are great (you can ask for stronger matcha and a single shot latte as I did). Their ginger shot is VERY strong but VERY good. I had to mix it with water because it was spicy but I loved it. Their avocado toast is yummm! The service depended on who was there that day, usually long queues so it will take 15min to get something. No sockets or WiFi to work from there which is a bit unfortunate. They have different sweets that I did not try but looked good

I really love the matcha latte here! It has a very fluffy and rich texture, much better than the ones I’ve had in London so far. The only downside is the WiFi seems super slow, and there are no plugs for any digital devices.

It was in 2016 that I visited the Blue Bottle Coffee. The place was Kiyosumi-Shirakawa in Tokyo and the store was the 1st one in Japan. I heard the rumor the brand new 3rd wave coffee store, Blue Bottle Coffee, landed Japan. After few years, at last I came here. The birth city of it.

Google
The coffee and banana bread were amazing, no doubt about that. But the customer service was really disappointing—no smiles, no warmth, and the staff just didn’t seem to be there. For me, presentability is important—a clean apron, a tidy space, quick and efficient service—none of which were there. The place felt unclean and disorganized, which took away from what could’ve been a great experience.

For some reason I feel like the latte tastes less good than other blue bottle stores in the area. The wait time is also longer, this place is also more crowded and messier. Pastries and matcha latte are great as usual. Update: so I visited this store two weeks later and was super disappointed. First, when I told the staff that I wanted a scone but I saw a fly on it (it was literally lying on the scone), and she just carelessly replied “oh, sorry” and didn’t do anything about it. Then I ordered a matcha latte which was also carelessly prepared and there’s no latte art or anything (excuse me why would I pay $7 for something like that?). After I finished and headed out, the scone with the fly was still there. I’m never gonna come back.

Google
Drink was fine. Clean and pretty shop. Nice tables and they have a good bar (water and utensils). Customer service was a little cold, but ok. Main gripe is the music is wayyyy too loud, you can’t hear yourself think. There’s also no outlets at all. The chairs and benches are wood. I think it all goes to not wanting customers to stay too long. The wifi is really slow as well.

Google
The lattes are decent but they don't offer decaf here. Service does a good job at attempting to best meet your needs with their limited menu. Prices are cheaper than not but coffee shops generally in SF also don't stay open late, even on the weekend.

Yelp
This little coffee shop kept me well caffeinated on a recent trip to San Francisco. Stopped by here a couple of mornings for coffee. I got a mocha made with almond milk both times and was pleased. The shop is small but there's seating should you wish to enjoy your coffee in house. For me both times it was a grab and go. The espresso was smooth, the chocolate in the mocha was rich, the baristas were friendly, and the service was quick enough to make it a great spot if you're wanting a quick cup to go. Get to it!

Yelp
Always a staple on our team. The service is very very dependent on if it's busy or not so we can expect a 5-10 min delay. Other than that, super good to just chat with friends and get some work done as well. The Iced Nola is the go to just because I only like my coffee very sweet otherwise I can't put it down.

Yelp
My fav coffee shop in the Financial District. Since I can't have dairy, I like that they have a wide array of plant-based milks, and that their default is oat. They always make sure to use a clean pitcher due to my allergy, they'll take the time to look up the ingredient list for allergens, and they take things very seriously. Never gotten sick off eating there, not even once. That means a lot to me when I'm on business travels, I'm sure you can imagine! This place can get busy, when office workers take their pauses, and there's limited space inside. But it's sunny and bright and cheery. A bit pricy, but then what food service isn't nowadays.
google avatar

Roop K.

Yelp
One of the more spacious and well lit locations! The pastries are always amazing at all of the locations across the city

Yelp
I got the 12 oz Iced NOLA, and it tasted just like the other Blue Bottle locations I've been to--smooth, sweet, and really easy to drink. I got my drink quickly. There's plenty of indoor seating, so it's a nice spot to hang out or get some work done. Same reliable Blue Bottle vibes.
google avatar

Bisan A.

Yelp
While in SF we had to try Blue Bottle Coffee and I'm glad we did. I got the NOLA shakerato which is like a shaken espresso. It was great! The coffee was perfectly sweet and went down smoothly. The service was friendly and attentive, and we got our coffees pretty quick. We went in the early afternoon and it was pretty busy, it seemed like it was a favorite stop for people working nearby. I can tell why this coffee shop is a local favorite. Stop by when you're in town!
google avatar

Becca W.

Yelp
Went in when they were training new hires and I ordered a cascara fizz-- no one knew what cascara was and they just gave me coffee syrup and seltzer what the fuck
google avatar

Chloe F.

Yelp
Stopped in to Blue Bottle for a quick coffee and snack. This location seemed a little chaotic, but the toast was very tasty! I had to ask for my black coffee after receiving the rest of the order. But there was adequate seating and a clean restroom.

Yelp
Cute and convenient coffee shop by Salesforce Park. This is on the ground level and almost a bit hidden. Very cute and modern atmosphere to the shop. Pretty great coffee, with milk alternatives (I always get oat milk). We enjoyed having a seat and cup of coffee here before starting our day. Friendly staff. Public restroom, but you need the code.
google avatar

Yelp
Fast service. The drinks are consistent. The options are limited but they are good at what they do. Quite noisy but u can work here
google avatar

Sunil R.

Yelp
A mid-afternoon caffeine run brought us here. I am not a coffee aficionado but I know from my friends who are that this is hallowed grounds. I picked up a cookie and a tea. It was interesting to see a security guard inside and my first thought was... "why does a coffee shop need a security guard??". I ended up having a very engaging and interesting conversation with him. Great guy.

Yelp
This review is specifically for the person making all of the drinks today, May 16th 2024 at 8:20am. They are a phenomenal employee, working in a rapid paced, high pressure environment, serving clients who I can only imagine are primarily cis, straight, white, entitled techies, who in large part (I'm gonna go out on a limb here) do not acknowledge their existence. I want them to know that I see you and you are beautiful. I'll be back, and I hope to see you again! Signed your friendly non-binary, trans masc, queer human. p.s. They make a killer cafe au lait, with whole milk and a shot of espresso!
google avatar

John Z.

Yelp
Very nice place to get a coffee and relax. Pretty clean and quiet. Need a code to access bathroom which is at the very end of the shop.
google avatar

Keith R.

Yelp
Crap coffee and crappier service. Cold and sterile atmosphere. Ordered a NOLA style coffee and they delivered an iced coffee. When I said I wanted hot the guy running the register, in a very rude and annoyed manner, said I should have specified hot. I said I didn't specify iced. He said that's how it comes. The menu clearly offers both iced NOLA and hot, and nowhere does the menu of offerings indicate the NOLA comes iced. Seriously, you're in the freaking service industry, just say my bad and remake the damn coffee. My first and LAST time at a Blue Bottle Coffee. Leave the attitude at home. Side note: The chocolate croissant was cold and hard.
google avatar

Yelp
Really smooth and silky and tasty cappuccino I had. Delish! Will def go back for more.
google avatar

Rose L.

Yelp
Nice workers, talented ones at that! They sure are pricey though. Their matcha lattes are beautiful. I love how not sweet they are!

Mel P.

Yelp
The manager who I believe is new here is genuinely so disrespectful to both her employees and to customers. As someone who frequents this location, there have been multiple occasions I have seen her raise her voice towards and be very dismissive to the aforementioned, and I'm really only there for a few minutes when I am. Additionally it seems like the team is mainly carrying the load here and you can tell on their faces. Not to mention there is an awful smell here in different areas that can only be described as disgusting, with flies usually buzzing around the seating area as well as the pastry case. This used to be a standout cafe with the old team/manager so it's a shame to see this turnaround. 2 stars for the few faces that I recognize and who treat each other with respect.

Yelp
Got the saffron vanilla latte! I love how they don't charge extra for oat milk. The latte was good! A nice blend of saffron spices and vanilla with a burst of caffeine. Definitely more unique than a traditional latte Blue bottle is also a nice place to co-work! There's WiFi and aesthetic wooden furniture. I'll be back with my friends and to try other drinks!
google avatar

Magda G.

Yelp
The coffee shop itself is beautiful. It is large w high callings & huge windows so if you crave natural light for your soul , reading, writing or working - this is a place for you. It is simple yet inviting & chic. The oat milk latte for my taste was not hot enough....did I say anything? I didn't because I was block away & didnt want to come back but luckewarm latte doesn't taste good.
google avatar

Vidhi P.

Yelp
This location is pretty good and usually packed during the work day. The place is clean enough and stocked with all the usual baked goods and syrups you would need. The black cardamom latte is okay, but nothing special. I wish it had a little more flavor but it is unique. My usual go to is the Nola Shakerato, which has the right amount of sweetness and caffeine to get me through the day. One of the better coffee chains in the area, but not a must-try.

Cem Alp Y.

Yelp
I ordered a 12oz coffee and paid for it. The barista filled half the cup and told me, 'This is all we have; you can take it, and I'll refund you.' Is this a joke? If you don't want to sell coffee, just close the shop! Or if making coffee is too much trouble, your barista should consider finding another job!
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee great croissants I like this better then those other coffee spot Philz yuck
google avatar

Yelp
Mmm Blue Bottle--it's been a long time favorite but something I don't have very often. Stopped by this location for a good cup of coffee & breakfast (avocado toast!) before working at a busy conference. It was fairly quiet (around 7am) so I was able to get my coffee + food and get situated quickly.
google avatar

Yelp
What's not to love about Blue Bottle? Great coffee, excellent pastries and sandwiches and friendly service. Love the atmosphere here too, and if you have a dog, there's some complimentary treats for them in the back area.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
This spot is a haven on weekend mornings. Amazingly friendly staff who clearly care about the drinks they make. I always feel like I can take a deep breath and a moment to center myself when I come in before I enter the chaos of school down the street.

Yelp
But first coffee! Let me start this off saying that I've been awake since 3am EST, writing this review now, it was about 1pm/4pm EST, when we walked in to the Coffee shop. I have been UP for hours and needed to stay that way, so when my friends said coffee I wholeheartedly agreed. The cashier who greeted us was incredibly friendly and helped us with our selection but sadly our drinks left much to be desired. Let me clear, I've heard about blue bottle (and all the hype surrounding it), I know it's famous for its acidity but after all my travels I wanted something a little richer - so I opted for the hot chocolate...unfortunately everything looked so much better than it tasted. My two friends both got the Black Cardamom lattes but with varying degrees of sweetness. No one raved, and my hot chocolate was also "just ok." Nothing bad but also nothing to write home about, I would consider going back to try other things on the menu but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Yelp
There was one employee running the shop and he had such a great attitude about it. He took care of all the customers with a smile and outstanding friendly service!
google avatar

Christopher M.

Yelp
Best espresso ever! I also recommend the ham and cheese sandwich. Ask the staff about their favorite techno concerts.

Ram V.

Yelp
Coffee was cold. Unimpressive service. Very few breakfast choice. 3 coffees, an almond toast and avocado toast was close to $50. Almond toast went straight to the garbage. They threw some almond butter on a really hot toast, it was inedible!!!
google avatar

J F.

Yelp
Just went to get a hot chocolate here with a group who all got coffees. When our four drinks came out I asked which was the hot chocolate and the barista said "it's the brown one with the chocolate in it." I kindly informed her that all 4 drinks were brown and I did not have eyeballs that can see chocolate. She relented and pointed out my drink. 5 stars for hilarity and 1 star for hangry barista. The hot chocolate is quite good by the way.

Yelp
If you want to spend $6+ on really good coffee, go here; but there are better options elsewhere. Quality: 5 Value: 3 Service: 4 Ambience: 3 Blue Bottle coffee is absolutely delicious, but their pour over takes a while (especially when they are under-staffed) and their other offerings are just middle of the road. I recommend Chatz one block over for great pour over / drip / espresso / breakfast food.

Yelp
// Summary Usually solid Blue Bottle experience where you must get some great coffee and the ever-delicious waffle. // Experience This particular Blue Bottle is one of my regular stops whenever I'm in town for work. I would usually get some kind of pourover from whatever options they have (or an americano) and a liege waffle. The waffle is a must, cause it's got that nice sweet crispiness to it that I just love. The coffee is your standard Blue Bottle quality, which you definitely can't take for granted. // Service I've observed varying quality of service throughout my patronage at this particular shop. When I've come in the mornings, the service has usually been great because I am probably one of the first customers actually in the shop. But in busier times - they seem to struggle sometimes, and forgot one of my coworker's orders once. // Ambiance They have a good amount of seating where you could plop down and do some work - but may not be the most comfortable of experiences. It's generally pretty clean for the times that I've been there. // Convenience It's in a great spot for the financial district. Not many other quality options you could choose from, which has made this one of my go-to's in the city.

Yelp
Came by for an Iced Mocha and it was a tasty experience. This coffee shop was pretty quiet during the weekend afternoon, possibly this is in the Financial District. Mocha was decent, although I've had better at other locations! ~$5 for an Iced Mocha!
google avatar

Jack R.

Yelp
Good large space full of tables for meeting with friends, but that's where my good experience ends. Tried their Strawberry fizz and it was awful, bot worth $4.50. Also, my coworkers black tea, though freshly made, was equally as expensive without being good. It's just overpriced black tea. With so many coffee places out there, Blue Bottle remains in the middle of my favorite coffee places.
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
pretty squarely in the OK column. Clean, nice looking place and we liked about half of what we got. The green tea latte was pretty good and the almond butter bread was decent. There was enough almond butter and jam to make it feel more substantial than you would think. Then we got a mocha and the ham and cheese sandwich. The bread was super hard and the mocha was not the best I've ever had. Staff was super nice though, so points for that.

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Went in yesterday for a couple lattes, this WAS my usual spot. The young man who took my order was quite rude and the coffees were straight milk! No espresso what so ever. They didn't tell me which coffee was which and just stared at my boyfriend and I the whole time. Really weird and rude. Will not be returning! Beware of a shorter young man with black hair, he will give you a cup of milk! For a $10 coffee it should at least be made the right way.

Yelp
Blue Bottle Coffee is so good and I enjoyed my experience here today. I come in for the usual, a wafel and latte. The wafel is one delicious pastry. It pairs well with a nice cup of latte. The other perk of visits to Blue Bottle Coffee include their layout which I like a lot. It is simple and the good looks of it is always a huge plus. Friendly staff, delicious pastry, certainly crafted with carefully and artistically decorated. One thing I also really like about Blue Bottle Coffee, the staff are always very professional. I have been going to Blue Bottle Coffee since July 2012, all of my visits always turn out positive. Overall, positive experience here.

Yelp
Whoo! Blue Bottle has finally opened! I've been passing by for awhile and waiting for them to open. I have only been to the Blue Bottle in Palo Alto so I was excited when one opened up near work. Right in Financial District, I'm sure they'll be quite busy once everyone hears they're open. Inside is very bright and modern. There are plenty of places to sit and dine in. There are also some Blue Bottle products available for purchase. I came on a Tuesday morning and there was no line but a bunch of people sitting inside, probably because of the rain. I really liked their display of food, very clean. I ordered a New Orleans iced coffee while my friend ordered an Iced Latte and a waffle. My drink was ready for me before I could even finish paying! The cashier prepared my drink right as I said it. I love that efficiency!! I tried my friend's waffle and it was fresh and hot! It was a little sweet but savory. I was surprised at how good it tasted. I will definitely be back to drink more pricey coffee and try out their food items! There is a price to pay for good coffee but I don't mind it!
google avatar

Tiera H.

Yelp
Good quality coffee, great service, lovely presentation. I love sitting in cafes and enjoying a pretty coffee. It feels so much more indulgent.
google avatar

Kaje Y.

Yelp
Many SF locals will probably feel torn about revisiting a Blue Bottle location given that a good amount of the profits will now go to it's majority shareholder, Nestle, one of the most controversial companies of the century. The storefront is minimal, but clean. The inside is also kept fairly simple but quite beautiful. This location has been talked about for a while and now its finally open! The high quality coffee is the same as before and has not changed. They sell coffee, DIY pour over accessories, and some things to snack on.
google avatar

Yelp
This Blue Bottle location just opened and I'm happy it's close to work! Their coffee is always good, I got the simple cold brew this time. I also ordered a lemon poppyseed loaf, which the cashier kindly got the softest slice from the middle. It's the little things! It was a quick visit on a dreary Wednesday morning, but a great experience. Thanks to a friendly, welcoming cashier, my mood was definitely lifted! Whoever trained and hired this employee got it right. Wish I had gotten his name, but I expect this kind of service next time I go. Definitely set a great standard for my first visit at this new location. Cold brew is perfectly smooth and tart. Such a small size for $4 though, that's my only complaint. I literally have to remind myself to slow down to make it last. And the poppyseed smells so good with hints of lemon and is very moist and fluffy. Oh, and also it's a nice place to work! Even early in the morning people were sitting with their serious faces on and their laptops out. I might spend a minute or so here myself, the atmosphere seems so chill. See you next time Blue Bottle!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
I've been to this blue bottle a number of times and I couldn't be more happy that they opened less than one block away from my place!! I always get their latte and sometimes with Oatmilk and i haven't been disappointed yet! Sometimes the order takes a minute, but I always think of the extra time as extra care and attention. This isn't like Starbucks where the drinks come out quickly, but sometimes they are undrinkable. Blue Bottle is consistently good, the people have always been kind and courteous, and the fact that they are open on the weekends is a HUGE plus for me! I would consider the coffee to be slightly more expensive than an average cup in SF, but I think it is more worth it than paying for something you can't drink. I love this shop and plan to make myself a regular customer when I feel like splurging on a yummy latte!
google avatar

Teresa B.

Yelp
I love that Blue Bottle is open on the weekends, particularly when so many other coffee shops in the area are only open on weekdays. I ordered the matcha latte, which was light, creamy and not sweet. Just the way I liked it. I wanted the 16-ounce serving, but unfortunately, the hot matcha latte only comes in the 12-ounce size. Oh well. My husband got a black tea, which he said was pretty good. My favorite part of going to Blue Bottle is watching the baristas make five pour-overs at a time while making sure the scales are reading just right.
google avatar

Jaymond M.

Yelp
The coffee was excellent, and everyone was really friendly. One thing to note is that the coffee is great, but and croissant I had were awful- it tastes strange. However, may I suggest looking into a different recipe, vendor or checking your pastries from time to time to see if it was old or not? I'm not sure if the croissants are cooked in-house or delivered in the morning.
google avatar

Jeanny T.

Yelp
I love blue bottle coffee and I love their waffles. There's several coffee houses close to our office and we always walk a couple more blocks to blue bottle simply because the coffee is that good. The service at this location is particularly great. It's always quite busy, and the the staff acknowledges if you've been waiting long and will sometimes give you free drink card. The staff is super friendly and one gentlemen even took the time to explain all the different roasts and even gave me a small sample of his recommendation.
google avatar

Denise C.

Yelp
Hello Blue Bottle SF! It's so fun to try Blue Bottle and senselessly spend on this coffee, but then I don't even want coffee. I want their fizzy drink. I forgot the name but it wasn't the lemon one today. It was supposed to berry, but it was alright. It was fizzy and it was supposed to be a concoction that they created. I drank it and I don't get it all the time, but Blue Bottle will do whatever they want with the drink menu. People like Blue Bottle's service and concept. I don't even need coffee from this shop. Fun times. Something fizzy and this one is on 2nd avenue downtown near Montgomery. I was at the gym.
google avatar

Kaylee H.

Yelp
First time at Blue Bottle Coffee didn't know what to expect. The line is long but goes by very quickly when ordering. You do have to wait a bit for your coffee to get out so I would plan in advance if you are a grab and go kind of person. They recently installed free WiFi so you can do work here. The ambiance is definitely more on the louder side as people are more here to mingle vs works. THERE ARE NO OUTLETS. I made the mistake of coming here with the intention of doing work with a near dead computer and no where to charge it. Now the drink: I ordered a mocha and it was rich and delicious. It was like sipping on melted dark chocolate with a caffeine kick.

Yelp
Good to have this location on second street reopen after almost 2 years. Still have the great pastry selection and good coffee

Yelp
This location just opened up around the corner from my office which means I foresee a lot more Blue Bottle in my future... I have a feeling this location will do very well here! The space is light, bright, airy, a lot of exposed brick and modern wood furniture. I'm not sure what was in the space before but I want to say it was a Subway. Grabbed a cold brew and blondie bite today. Both were delicious! They have a nice wall of coffee products and even some dog treats in the back for the pups ;)
