Blue Bowl is a dream for anyone who loves building their perfect açai bowl. The choices here are incredible — not only do they offer a wide variety of bases (açai, pitaya, matcha, chia pudding, and more), but you can mix and match them however you like. The toppings selection is just as impressive, with fresh fruits, crunchy granola, nut butters, coconut, and all kinds of flavorful garnishes. Yes, the price is a bit on the higher side, but it’s absolutely worth it. The ingredients are fresh, high-quality, and the ability to fully customize your bowl exactly how you want makes the experience feel special every time. If you’re into açai bowls, this is a must-try spot.

🔱 LOCATION: on the UCSD campus ⏱️ WAIT TIME: long line at 12:30 PM on a weekday — waited about 30 minutes to order, so probably not the best place for a quick bite during peak hours 🥣 CUSTOMIZATION: most people customize their acai bowls here by choosing their base, granola, fruit, nut butters, toppings, sweeteners, and powders 🫐 SELECTION: more options than most acai spots, lots of variety in every category! 🍓 ORDERING: assembly-line style — move down the counter while staff build your bowl in real time (you can see all of the ingredients through a glass display) 😊 STAFF: friendly!! Overall: my acai bowl was yummy and healthy but deducting one star because of the wait :)

Google
The toppings are great but the sorbets are outrageously disgusting. They taste super fake and sugary and the mango one tastes so weird and bitter. Honestly one of the worst acai/fruit bowls I've had.

Sabrina S.

Google
This place was so delicious!!! They do not take dining dollars but they do take triton cash. They have three sizes of bowls. We got the medium size (16oz) You can customize your bowl unlimitedly! It’s so tasty and refreshing!! I totally recommend this place :)

I was very disappointed on my visit today May 29th at around 10:30am. I am a regular customer and I don’t think I have ever seen such disrespect. During my visit today, three workers were in the back of the restaurant chatting away while one worker was greeting all the customers and helping them with their orders who was very professional and friendly. I have no complaints about her. While the other three one being the manager that I’ve met before allowed the poor girl to do all the work in the front. I overheard their conversation which I won’t disclose here but someone needs to keep an eye on their staffing and ensure the front is equipped with staffing. Leaving one person to handle everything is ridiculous to me. I am more than happy to provide more details of the individuals that were present.

Google
literally so stingy why i am i paying $12 for 4 strawberries and half a scoop of coconut. AND THATS ALL I GET TOO it’s not like im adding 50 toppings.

Google
Best açaí bowls in San Diego! I’ve been to their location in Long Beach so I was excited to hear they have one in SD. They have very unique ingredients for the base that other açaí places don’t.

Annaliese Dang

Google
This is my absolute favorite smoothie bowl place EVER. Unlimited toppings, and they always load them up. Free visitor parking in the nearby lot, but during school hours, it's pretty difficult to find a spot. Plenty of parking during summer break, however!

Shreya N.

Yelp
I love the bowls at Blue Bowl- there is always an amazing, free quality to all the ingredients. There is a ton of variety to what is available which I love. Pro Tip: Don't be afraid to ask for a sample of any of bases they provide! Service is always lovely with the workers being incredibly nice and ready to talk. I will say there is very limited seating in there so be prepared to sit outside and sometimes the line is quite long. Ambiance is nice inside there!
google avatar

Yelp
So convenient and on UCSD campus. Their açaí bowls are so good, and not to mention there are so many health benefits. This is a good alternative for a dessert, plus it is so much better for you. So many options to choose from regarding flavors and toppings. I recommend getting the 24 oz. because it's a lot cheaper than getting two 8 oz. bowls, and you can just save the rest for later if you can't finish it. Additionally, the workers are friendly and make the bowls very neatly. The only downside is that the line is normally extremely long. You have to time when you go accordingly or else the wait time is 30 minutes to an hour. Also very little seating inside but there is outdoor seating. Just make sure to clean the tables.

Yelp
Best acai bowls in San Diego! I crave blue bowl often. It's like the chipotle of acai bowls where you can build your own bowl. Everything tastes so fresh and they give generous portions. Service was great! They were so generous and gave us an extra bowl they accidentally made for free. I wish they had locations off of UCSD campus since it can be a bit harder to get to especially with parking, but I'm happy to venture over to get my acai fix. There are a few tables outside where you can sit and eat.

Yelp
I wish the location was not just on UCSD campus cause I would visit more if there were other locations. The açaí bowl with their blue chia pudding is amazing. They really give a generous amount. Would definitely come back again.

Kaelyn G.

Yelp
I've been to Blue Bowl multiple times on campus and every time i've gotten it, my bowl is always filled to the lid. I'm allergic to all the butters and chia puddings and such so I always tell them to add a little more base to compensate. This time around the workers were asking multiple times if I wanted the butters/pudding and I kept saying no. I was still scooped less base and barely any hemp granola. With the fruit and my toppings, it still didn't fill to the top of the lid. I told the cashier about it nicely and comparing to the other 12 oz before and after, my bowl was the same as there's. I asked if I can be charged a 12 oz when I explained the situation and she told me no.

Brittney S.

Yelp
GASSSSSSS!!! Best açaí in San Diego by far. Unlimited toppings and tastes amazing. Couldn't stop saying mmmmm.

Yelp
Blue Bowl has finally graced SD with its very first location! As an OC native, I've been spoiled rotten by our plentiful locations and have always felt that the acai scene in SD was a bit lacking. This spot is located at UCSD (in Sixth College), which doesn't make it the most accessible since you have to navigate through campus to get there, but I promise that it's worth the trip! It definitely lived up to my Blue Bowl standards in terms of quality, taste, and selection! With so many unique bases (beyond just acai and pitaya) and topping choices, the combinations and customizations are limitless! It really doesn't get better than this. Do note that they are closed on Sundays.

Yelp
The best açaí bowls on the planet! I had my first Blue Bowl a few years ago at their Orange, CA location. When I realized they expanded to San Diego I ran. One downside is that this location is at UCSD and parking is a nightmare. Obviously catering to students I still needed my Blue Bowl fix and wasted a good half hour of my life looking for parking. So why are these bowls better than others? It's all about the ingredients. Fresh fruit that actually tastes like fruit. Nothing like eating a strawberry that has zero flavor like so many. Here it's all sourced locally and the closer to the farmer you are the better it is. I love customizing my bowl with all of my favorite ingredients. For me it's all about some combination of pitaya, açaí, blue coconut, matcha, and blue chia pudding as my bases. Then I love adding fresh strawberries, banana, and pineapple when in season. Some crunchy hemp to add texture, and blue butter for some creaminess. They also have so many toppings to choose from! Sometimes I go crazy but I can never say no to dates, goji berries, toasted coconut, and agave nectar. Pro tip ~ they carry limes so asking for a little squeeze and some zest is the perfect touch. This step will take your bowl to the next level. And since you're very close to the beach you may also take it with you and enjoy it at Black's Beach (a nude beach for those not familiar) and enjoy your bowl without tan lines.

Yelp
This is THE spot for quality açaí bowls in La Jolla, conveniently located at the UCSD campus! There's a TON of healthy options to choose from and they don't skimp on the portions. The bowls are simply delicious and even the smallest size fills you up!
google avatar

Yelp
Love that there's a blue bowl on campus at UCSD! I love coming here when I'm in the mood for a light yet filling lunch and something sweet but healthy before a workout :) Pictured below is the 16 oz, but I figured that that's too much for me to eat all at once, so I normally stick to the 12oz, which is already really filling. You can choose as many bases and toppings as you like! I get the acai, matcha, and blue coconut bases with blue bowl chia, maple quinoa, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, almond butter, almonds, agave, and matcha power!! The blue bowl chia is SOOO good (I will learn the recipe one day), and the almond butter also takes it to a whole another level. Super super yummy and highly recommend it as a treat on a warm, sunny day in La Jolla!
google avatar

Bo K.

Yelp
Wow the creations are limitless! I love that they have multiple different bases and you can sample them of you'd like. It can be hard to not go overboard with all of the toppings because they have EVERYTHING you could imagine. And it was still yummy and not that expensive. The staff were very patient with me being overwhelmed by all the options. Seating is very limited inside and being located on the UCSD campus means being surrounded by mostly college students. We asked two girls if we could take the empty seat next to them (they placed a backpack on the chair) and they said no, they were saving it. However, we ate our bowls, watched them order and eat their bowls, and nobody else came to join them. Parking was difficult for us since we are not familiar with UCSD. The fact that it is on the college campus is the only reason I won't be returning very regularly. I hope they open up more locations around town!
google avatar

Kristelle B.

Yelp
We went inside UCSD to try Blue Bowl out! I've heard amazing things about this place from their OC locations so I was excited to try it out. Parking can be tough as it is inside the campus and you'd have to walk for a bit towards the strip of restaurants. For $14, we got the largest size and did half acai, half matcha base. I love an acai place that does their bases so thick and creamy as opposed to watery and they nailed it here! The matcha was so good! I don't know of any other place that does it like they do. Standardly, you get unlimited toppings and I love how they have interesting options like healthier butters and whatnots. We loved it here though it's not really in our area but we can see ourselves coming back!

Yelp
I am absolutely IN LOVE with Blue Bowl. During my lunch break at work, I love to go to Blue Bowl for a nice and refreshing lunch. Their bowls are absolutely amazing. After visiting their Orange location, I thought the place was overrated. However, after visiting so many other açaí bowl places, I realized none can compare to the quality and multitude of ingredients offered at Blue Bowl for their considerably lower price. So many options for toppings and bases are available at Blue Bowl, you are bound to find your own combination that suits your flavor needs. Three sizes are available: 12 oz, 16 oz, and 24 oz. Honestly, I am very stuffed with the 16 oz portion and will be sticking to the 12 oz for lunch. Unlimited toppings with every bowl! My go-to order (12 oz for $10): pitaya and blue coconut base with hemp granola, chia pudding, cacao nibs, goji berries, toasted coconut, almond butter, apples, strawberries, blueberries, agave nectar, and matcha powder! Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 As far as service goes, the recent server that made my bowl added so many toppings with each scoop. He was not shy when it came to the portions! Very nice staff. I am IN LOVE with Blue Bowl and have been recently coming here for lunch a few times a week. UCSD really made a great choice with adding Blue Bowl to campus. This is definitely a hit with the students. So very lucky I have this place at UCSD!

Johnny N.

Yelp
I'm relatively new to the açaí bowl scene, but I was nonetheless excited to see Blue Bowl open a spot at UCSD. It's located at Sixth College and I believe it was chosen as a vendor because the owners are UCSD alum! I visited midday on a weekday and found the place to be pretty empty, so I was helped right away. The staff is really patient and gave me plenty of time to make my choices. I went for the açaí base and the chia seed pudding with all of the fruit options. This particular combination went really well together and it's great seeing them add new options every now and then. Definitely stop by this place if you ever find yourself on campus!

G R.

Yelp
I've come here for years as a student whenever I was craving an açaí bowl. It beats Jamba any day! My interactions with Blue Bowl's team have always been really pleasant with quick service--I can tell the workers are happy and treated well. The ingredients are always freshly prepared and tasty. I especially enjoy the blue coconut base and huckleberry. Their açaí base is also excellent. The selection of toppings is very expansive. Note: they are closed during finals week. As an alumni, Blue Bowl is nostalgic for me and a staple that I will miss.

Yelp
A unique blue chia blend with other açaí ingredients makes Blue Bowl Superfoods unique. It was a nice pick me up snack with its layers of acai, dragonfruit, matcha, blue chia. Every layer of fruit tasted like fresh fruits. The matcha definitely could be detected with its highest standard of ingredients. I loved how many options you could get from the fruits, to toppings such as banana, strawberries, blueberries, granola, even butters like almond, cashew & peanut butter. The toppings seemed endless & the quality top notch. Without hesitation, I'd run to Blue Bowl in a heartbeat.
google avatar

Katherine O.

Yelp
Yummy acai bowls with so many customizable options! i love that they offer so many yummy bases (my favorite are the coconut and the huckleberry bases), and the toppings are always of great quality -the fruits are always so fresh and sweet! I love that it's in such a convenient location on campus and the workers are always friendly. My go-to spot for a quick sweet treat on campus :)

Yelp
Blue Bowl Superfoods opened at the beginning of July when fewer students were around the UCSD campus which is where they are located. They were one of the first businesses to begin operating in a strip of suites housing new food and drink vendors (e.g. Fan-Fan, Plant Power Fast Food). Besides acai bowls, the menu offered items like nitro cold brew, kombucha on tap, an oatmeal bowl, and a chia parfait. There was one preset acai bowl combination which was the Lazy Blue. That ended up being my pick. The base ingredients were acai, pitaya, and chia pudding. The toppings were pumpkin flax, banana, strawberry, blueberry, almond butter, toasted coconut, almonds, goji berry, cacao, hemp seed, pumpkin seed, and date honee. I can see why a large was $13.30 while mine was a medium (16 oz) for $10.30. It was hard to describe any one particular taste because the product was so loaded. After it was assembled, the Lazy Blue made for a colorful photo opportunity. I enjoyed the combination of ingredients enough to rate this place with four stars.

Yelp
I'm a fan and drove out here, but this was pretty disappointing. I got there around an hour before closing.
google avatar

Nishat T.

Yelp
The food is amazing. I loved the blue ball. The ambiance and the service is great. I think for the rice you pay, it is a great place to eat a healthy super ball.
google avatar

Jadyn K.

Yelp
Absolutely loved visiting here while on campus! The staff were kind and efficient, and were generous with the toppings! The almond butter and date honey are a must! The maple quinoa and chocolate granola were also great. The portion was pretty good for the price and would definitely visit again!
google avatar

Jenny N.

Yelp
The service here is great! Everyone is friendly and personable and knowledgeable about the bases and toppings. I come here with my friends after class every so often and it's quite refreshing. I usually get the medium size, I think it's a 16 oz or something, and save half for the next day. My go to bases are acai, blue pudding, and pitaya (dragonfruit). I get hemp seeds too. For fruits I like strawberries and bananas. I love to get "the butter" as well as peanut butter and the toasted coconut flakes. I get espresso and cocoa on top too!
google avatar

Chu Y.

Yelp
Really glad they put a Blue Bowl on campus! Some of the rare quality foods at UCSD. I've had Blue Bowl in Orange County and although the fruits aren't as fresh as the one in OC, it's good enough for a satisfying breakfast. $9 for the small bowl actually is really filling. I can't imaging getting a bigger size unless I exercise hard beforehand. So the price to quality is good for me. Also the people working there were very nice and patient, as I took time to select what toppings and such I wanted. Overall good place that I will go to again if I'm hungry on campus.

Audrey H.

Yelp
I have been coming to Blue Bowl for many years now. I was so excited when I found out one opened in San Diego! They have many options for bases and I love that they have unlimited toppings. I have been to other acai bowl places, and I feel like this place has better quality fruits and toppings. Like other acai bowl places, it is a little on the expensive side. I use the app they have and I've been able to use rewards towards my orders. Parking is sometimes hard to find during busy UCSD hours. There is free 30 minute parking in visitor spots in the structure right below Blue Bowl.
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
So excited to see Blue Bowl opening in San Diego. It's located on UCSD campus. A bit out of the way for me but it's so worth it. Don't have to make trips to OC now. They started their soft opening. It's m-f 10-4pm. I love the flavors and consistency of the bases. My favorite is matcha, coconut and acai. Also love unlimited toppings. I pretty much throw everything on there. The quality and price is nice. Best acai bowls ever.
google avatar

Roland S.

Yelp
My wife and I used to drive up to the locations north of SD. We love Blue Bowl. So once we heard this location opened, we had to go. Got kinda lost looking for it since we're not UCSD students, but it was worth the adventure. My usual order is a bowl with Açaí, chia pudding, granola, fruits, peanut butter, cacao bits, and matcha powder. Açaí: Very good, just like the other locations. Not icy or watery, which is why we love this açaí spot above all the rest. Chia pudding: A bit lacking and bland compared to the other locations. All the other ingredients: Delicious additions as usual. Service: Ruben and Isaac helped us out and they were great. Good to hear that a seasoned vet like Ruben from the other location is here to help bring Blue Bowl to SD. Both great guys. Thanks! Looking forward to this location getting settled in! Not looking forward to the long lines that it'll probably have once school starts. It looks like it's in a pretty prime spot on campus. I'll still be in line for it though. BLUE BOWL IS HERE!!!
google avatar

Sophie R.

Yelp
I literally dream of these bowls! Wish there was one where I live. Whenever we are in San Diego, we stop by here every other day. So tasty. Such friendly and helpful staff. A never-miss place for me and my family.

Jenny C.

Yelp
I'm going to give blue bowl a 4/10. The bowl is over priced and not good quality. The acai lacks taste meaning it's missing sweetness. It tastes too artificial. A small bowl is about $10. At banzai bowl I can get a
google avatar

Zaarib Z.

Yelp
I'm just lost for words. This was the first açaí bowl I ever had and I was spoiled. Why can't even açaí bowl be like this? Usually the other places have pre made combos or you would have to pay extra for each topping. Not only does this place give free unlimited toppings but also unlimited BASES. What????? Im in love and will forever be in love with blue bowl and it genuinely holds a special place in my heart because how much better it is than ANY OTHER açaí bowl place.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE. People say it's too expensive (not a lie) but I love it LOL. I always get the blue chia and matcha, but I also love the pitaya!! The gold (mango) base wasn't bad either. It's also just so pretty hehe
google avatar

Jacquie H.

Yelp
Shocked to find out that Blue Bowl has finally arrived in San Diego and of course it has to be on UCSD campus where the new Sixth college is located. Great place for açaí bowls. They have a variety of bases and unlimited toppings. My personal favorites are the blue chia pudding, blue coconut, and the classic açaí. If you park on the entrance level of Scholar Parking and then walk up the first flight of stairs. Blue bowl is located around the corner from Fan-Fan.
google avatar

Ilmaa H.

Yelp
My first time trying Blue Bowl! There is something similar in Riverside that I prefer (Flavor Theory), but what made Blue Bowl special was The Butter. I wish I could buy it by the bottle. Bases and everything else were average, the date honey was good though.
google avatar

Helen D.

Yelp
I was really excited to hear that Blue Bowl was coming to SD, but unfortunately, this place is on the UCSD campus so it is only open Mon-Fri. If you ever find yourself in the area, try to make it out here because their acai bowl is pretty worth it! The quality of ingredients is very good and tasty as well! Location is the only thing that makes it hard for the general public to find and parking would be really confusing as well if you're not familiar with the campus!
google avatar

Danya G.

Yelp
Located in the new Sixth College of UCSD. Line and wait length depends on time of the day. You pay for the size of the cup (small $9, medium $11, large $13.50) and can add as many bases and toppings as desired. Love trying a new mix every time I come in. Staff is very welcoming and friendly.

Jenny L.

Yelp
Had this in the summer. I'm usually not a big fan of acai bowls (I eat a fraction and stick it in the fridge), but Blue Bowl was so good? 0.0 Nothing is overly sweet or tart. In combo with the crunchy textures and interesting flavors, it has a good balance that makes me want to keep eating it forever. Unlimited toppings and you can mix and match bases :) They give you a lid if you take it to go. Parking: It's on the UCSD campus, so parking is tricky. There's parking in the Blue Bowl area, free for 15 minutes if you grab and go. Otherwise, visitor parking is $1.50 for the first hour. ~6 mins walk away is the Hopkins Parking Structure (park 7th floor for visitors). I can't remember where else has visitor parking but it's probably on their site somewhere. Bases * Gold - mango, orange, turmeric, and passionfruit is what they told me. My favorite! Refreshing but flavorful and really unique. * Matcha - clear matcha taste, but not bitter or overpowering. * Pitaya - dragonfruit taste; maybe a tie for second favorite with matcha * Acai - stayed cold the longest * Huckleberry - the taste reminds me of a mild berry yogurt; melted the fastest * Blue chia pudding - not much of a taste but it was fun. Nice color and adds more texture to the food Granola - loved so much * Maple quinoa - lightly sweet and addicting * Chocolate with chia seeds - can't go wrong imo Nut Butter * The Butter - combo of almond and cashew butter, plus dates, flax seed, cacao, and cinnamon I think? Really good and give it the right nutty buttery kick, but it mostly vanished into everything else. Toppings * Cranberry - dried but fresh tasting; adds a sweet bite * Cacao nibs - adds a chocolately crunch, not sweet of course * Almonds - I like that it's not sliced, makes for extra crunch texture * Strawberries and blueberries - fresh and sweet! Not tart * Cinnamon and raspberry powder - yummy but can't taste it much when it's mixed in

Yelp
I love this place. Even though for a non student scholar like myself the location can be hard to get to. Would love to see them open another SD location soon so it's not just easily accessible to the amazing UCSD future scholars. Simply put the place is a simple, healthy place to get fresh food on the go. We need more places like this so someday diseases these students will someday help fight in their future careers are more easily solved.
google avatar

Liz J.

Yelp
I got the feeling blue bowl since it was my first time and tbr I was kinda overwhelmed with how much they had. The Feeling Blue came with the acai, pitaya, and chia base, with was really food and everything here is really fresh. Workers are super friendly and really attentive if you want to add stuff to your bowls or if you aren't sure what to get. The toppings are also unlimited which is really nice so you can honestly get whatever you want on your bowl. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity you're getting so I def recommend stopping by for soft opening on Mon-Fri from 10 to 4 :)).
google avatar

Vion T.

Yelp
As a UCSD student I'm just sad they didn't open this earlier now that I'm a senior. Quality is just as amazing as their other locations. If you're planning on coming make sure you try to go during "class times" so line isn't long, otherwise lot of students tend to come during their gap times.
google avatar

Khang H.

Yelp
They give you unlimited toppings!!! I ended up getting everything I saw on the counter. The price was reasonable for the amount of food you got.
google avatar

Yusuf M.

Yelp
Great bowls. I think of Blue Bowl as a Subway for fruit bowls. I recommend their date honey as a topping.
google avatar

DJ W.

Yelp
Good portions and prices for college students. Great variety of choices as well. I was a huge fan of the pitaya bowl.
google avatar

Bria C.

Yelp
Can't believe that ucsd has a Blue Bowl on campus I'm going to be forever grateful!!! This is a top notch acai joint, and I highly recommend checking it out! All the different options are wonderful, and the fruit is always so fresh! Friendly staff too.
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
Good Acai bowls but lots of students. Long wait. The ingredients were great! The fruit options, strawberries, bananas, and blueberries and the fact that you can have all, was nice too. Best acai bowls ever! Fresh toppings and unlimited bases and toppings. The chia pudding and "the butter" is unique and a must
google avatar

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
So glad they added a location on the UCSD campus! Their bowls are so delicious and filling! Although it is a bit pricey, the ingredients are fresh and the staff working there are so kind! Definitely give this place a try!

Pearl K.

Yelp
I'm obsessed. If you need a sweet but nutritious pick me up, look no further. They offer so many *delicious* bases. I personally like the pitaya, acai and matcha bases. It's the bean-dip ice cream Sunday version of an acai bowl. And then there's practically unlimited toppings. I prefer an ungodly amount that make eating it a game of jenga. They have an assortment of homemade nut butters. Big fan. If you're feeling overwhelmed or need to treat yourself, this will have you feeling like you're pushing in P in no time.

Sean C.

Yelp
Loved going to this place in Orange County and love the fact that they have one here in San Diego. That chia seed pudding is the best and the fact that I'm lazy makes the "lazy blue" taste great!

Adrian T.

Yelp
really great quality smoothie bowls, shoutout to kendall (i think) for fitting a bunch of great bases in a 16oz
