We got a few things, some good some not. The croissant we got was nice and we got some almond butter cookies that were also tasty. The peach upside down cake wasn’t good thou. The cake was dry and had no flavor other then the toppings.

Wow! This was truly one of the best tuna salad sandwiches of all time. The bread was fresh and crunchy (not too crunchy either) and the tuna was yummy. I highly recommend checking out this spot. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Everything you would expect from a French bakery. The best baguettes, croissants, cookies and pastries, plus gorgeous chocolates and candies. So glad we still have a French bakery in our neighborhood.

We were big fans of petite prince and the new owners have done a great job sprucing up the old shop! Almond croissants were freshly made and delicious.

I come in regularly and enjoy your baked goods. Your almond croissants are heavenly! Lately, I think you’re taking your patrons a bit for granted. Sometimes crusts are scorched and toppings/fillings are dry, etc. and offered (at full price) anyway. Today’s blueberry buns with cream cheese “frosting” was not frosting, but blueberries with cream cheese mixed in, disappointing. I would give you a 3.7 rating.

Very unique confections! They make most of it by themselves. Try there 12 piece assortment. Your sweet tooth will love it.

Stopped in quickly to ask about dairy free options. My daughter is dairy and egg allergic. The ladies were very helpful and they had a ton of items to choose from. They can even make the French baguette for her! Excellent service, very pretty and quaint. Must try if you haven't been here.

This is a wonderful little place!! The ambiance is that of a small local bakery that is very welcoming! The staff was super friendly and helpful. So many options to choose from whether in the mood for a savory croissant, a sweet pastry or some chocolate! I sampled a few of the pastries and they were all out of this world! My favorite was probably the pistachio and orange bun but all were amazing! I will definitely be returning to try out more of their options!

Wowie. I love to come and get some fresh baked bread. They have vegan bon bons. Expensive, but beautiful and delicious. We like the salted rosemary loaf of bread. My kids are split on the croissants, but I'm not sure if they can be trusted. Everything that I've had is fresh and delish.

Happy to see that the menu has expanded to include an Easter menu and sandwiches. Sad that our favorite, the Palmier, are no longer offered. They were the absolute best in town.

No luck with a berry danish today, only had one apple and cinnamon danish left. Their pain au chocolate looked great if I wanted more croissant than chocolate, it has two strips. I tend to like my pain au chocolate to be more abundant with the chocolate than the croissant, if that's what I am in the mood for. The almond croissant had a nice crunch to it, it's quite sizable and I had to bite it into sections since it was too big to bite fully into at all. The almond paste is slight, it's quite sweet. The powder sugar does get all over, it was all over my black coat.

Wow!!! We fell in love with this place! Naniamo Bar - custard buttercream layered between a coconut & chocolate brownie & topped with a thick chocolate ganache. Bet you've never had anything quite like it! This is a winner. The Lemon Bar was powerful & delicious! It was like eating a delectable candied lemon Brown Butter Pistachio Brownies - thick dense brownie topped with a few pistachios. Sweet & a little salty. Loved this cozy little store. Will definitely return!!!

Blu Canary is a charming little neighborhood bakery that has delicious and beautiful chocolates, bread, candies and pastries. This is definitely a small business that I want to support and encourage everyone to check out their Instagram page to order online for curbside pickup. This past weekend I ordered the 6-piece Mystery Bon Bon box and a French Toast kit that came with brioche bread, cinnamon custard, fresh berries, maple syrup, chocolate chips..oh my! You'll smile like a cat that ate the canary after eating the sweet and savory treats available at Blue Canary Confections, a cute little bakery off of 14 Mile Road and Pierce Street in Birmingham. Although there is limited parking in the lot in front of the bakery, I've never had trouble finding a spot. This is a bakery where you buy what you need and go as opposed to sipping on a cup of coffee at a table for two hours. As most of my long-time Yelp readers know, I do not have a sweet tooth, and it is rare for me to buy sweet pastries. I won't be able to review the many delicious looking sweet desserts at Blue Canary Confections, but I can vouch for its savory treats. I haven't tried the bread yet but this is one of the few bakeries I've seen with authentic-looking challah bread, including Apple-Honey Challah. My favorites are the Cheese Twists and the Everything Croissants. I am a fan of the light, crispy, and buttery taste of the pastries here. The Everything Croissant, a little pricey at $3.50, is an indulgent treat to have every once in a while. It is large with the right amount of sprinkling on top to give it flavor but not too salty, and has a small amount of cream cheese in the middle. The service here is good. The British woman who takes orders is nice. I've never met the baker, but her father who is often out front is also friendly and talkative. I can tell he's proud of his daughter's beautiful creations. Blue Canary Confections is the type of friendly family-owned business that I enjoy supporting. I always find myself stopping by whenever I'm in the area.

This bakery has many delicious treats to try. The croissants are delicious, the ham and Gruyère croissant and everything croissant are my favorite. The croissants are so buttery and flakey, it's hard to resist. The bon bons are so pretty and make a great gift, but very pricey. I haven't tried the breads just yet, but they look amazing. Will definitely be back!

Yes this is the real deal, don't let the size fool you. They are pumping out some real good stuff. This was my first stop on a mini bakery tour, and Blue Canary Confections did not disappoint. Real bakers bake here and the breads, croissants and their chocolates were all excellent. I must say that the everything croissant that I got was probably my favorite, it was buttery flaky and filled with a chive cream cheese, excellent flavor. If you're looking for a real deal bakery you must check this place out.

So many delicious treats to try at the Blue Canary. We often get croissants. Plain, almond, ham and cheese, everything... There are many to choose from. Check their website for daily bakings. I love the marshmallows. They make a lovely gift. Soft and yummy. The truffles are also a beautiful gift. They are hand-painted pieces of art. Spicy mango and passionfruit have that my favorites. They are open during Covid. Have lunch sandwiches. They will bring it to your car.

this is truly a hidden gem! I pass by this place VERY often on my way to Birmingham area and never really pay attention until one they I found out they have really good reviews. Out of curiosity, I decided to grab breakfast/snack and it surely did not disappoint. This is not a sit-down kind of spot but rather great for grab and go. I eat my croissant right in front of the bakery though (there's a bench), but not a meet up place. The interior, however, is cute and clean. When you go in you're directly greeted by a counter of beautifully displayed pastry and cakes selections. Croissants seem to be their specialty and they have quite a lot of variants. I opted for the Everything Croissants which is topped with everything bagel seasoning filled with chive cream cheese. Price is cheap for the big size too! And the taste is AH-MA-ZING! Slightly crispy with buttery, flaky, and fluffy layers, very fragrant, the cream cheese was just the right amount so it wasn't overwhelming, and honestly I don't care how big it is, I can't stop myself until I down the last bite. the person behind the counter was super friendly too! Seriously, give this small bakery a try!

OMG this place! I specifically came here for the kouign amann, as it's a lesser known pastry, hard to find, and sometimes more challenging to make relative to other pastries. The KA were just lovely - the sugar carmelization wasn't overdone, with a slightly crisp outside and soft buttery heaven on the inside. Their almond croissant was pretty amazing too. Service: Stellar. I was helped by the father of the owner who was easy to talk to, fast, and shared some of the history of the place, pointing out the beautifully painted wall by one of his children, and the little blue canary behind the counter, which my daughter liked.

I wish this new bakery nothing but the best The owners are so sweet and go out of their way to chat with you. I picked up a couple of pastries for the staff and my groomers and they loved everything. Get the cream puffs!!

The everything croissant is my favorite. I don't get to try many things because I gravitate towards it. It's even better when it's just a bit warm but I almost never make it the mile home and eat it in the car leaving a trail of croissant crumbs everywhere! Their 5 grain bread is delicious! Oh and the couch potato cookie. I've been meaning to try their sandwich of the week but again, I get sidetracked!

Delicious! Everything here is fresh and amazing. The croissants are out of this world. And the cookies are truly addictive!

What an excellent store, with delicious pastries -- a true delight and great addition to our community Highly recommend the Quiche Lorraine biscuits, the kouign-amman and the baguettes -- but honestly, everything is great!

We love blue canary! Everything I've had is delicious, and the rotating flavors on things like biscuits and hand pies make it fun to try different things. I have been to blue canary many times and plan to go many more times in the future. Highly recommend!

A very worthy successor to the French bakery that previously occupied this location! "Everything Bagel" croissant is one of the very best I've had, extremely light but flavorful. Can't wait to try more.

Anytime I stumble on a new bakery with kouign amann I have to try it. This place is deadly. My plan was to purchase just the one item, but I was unable to turn away from the others so I wound up constructing myself a sampler platter. I regret nothing!!! Everything was spectacular. I especially liked the brownies- a humble dessert, sure, but clearly made with high-quality chocolate and with a texture that was somehow both fluffy and hearty. Yummmm....

So happy to have a delightfully good bakery close by. French style baked goods, including baguettes, croissants, Marshmallows, gougeres (so easy to buy one and eat in the car on the way home!), cream puff, and even home made chocolates. The lemon thyme one was surprising and delicious! My favorite is the Everything croissant with lemon cream cheese filling. It's not heavy handed at all. The lemon offsets the richness of the croissant itself. We also ordered a fresh fruit tart for Easter. That was amazing. Fun fact: We started going here after we had our baby. It became the stretch goal to get out of the house those first few months. The staff is all family and super friendly

Not the same as a five star restaurant review, but for what it is, with a somewhat limited selection, it is great. Everything is very obviously made in house, you can taste the butter and ingredients. As good or better than anything else around and the prices are surprisingly reasonable, three dollars or so for the croissants, little more with ham and cheese. candies and brownie and such also very good and very reasonable. a nice addition to the neighborhood.

Great selections, beautiful updated bakery and great service! The prices are good (better than other nearby bakeries: i.e. Crispelli's Bread). The quality of the bakers technique is apparent and everything seems to be done with intention & care. The only downside is that the bread isn't what we expected... the bread is a bit spongier/dense, with smaller air bubbles, not as crunchy and a tad less flavorful as I expect a French baguette to be, which makes me suspect the ingredients... If the bread was improved then I think I'd be going here a lot more. Definitely will return again for other items and I love that they are serving freshly made sandwiches now.

Tip - the early bird catches the wor.....confections! First trip, happened to see the sign they were open. They didn't have a great selection, but I saw menu cards for many items I would have liked to pick up, so next time I'll be coming earlier. Everything I had was very flavorful. There's nothing worse than going to a bakery where everything tastes the same. One unexpected delight was the everything croissant with lemon cream. Wow, very clever and absolutely perfect. Looking forward to future visits! Also, kudos to the owners for keeping the prices reasonable that'll always make me want to try more

Terrible business practices. I arrived at 9:50am, went in and ordered 2 chocolate croissants. The owner said she does not put them out until 10:00am, and I needed to wait until 10:00am. I told her I would just wait in my car, which I did, right in front of her store. I went back in at 10:00 and asked for the 2 chocolate croissants. The owner said she just sold all of the chocolate croissants to an online order. I asked her why she didn't hold the 2 I ordered when she knew I was waiting for them in my car. She said that would be unfair to the online person. What?! She just lost a customer.

What a great place! The people are so nice, but the food is what's truly special. Some of our favorites are the cream puffs, seven layer bar and pecan wedges. Every time we've gone there's something new to try and all have been delicious. I just ordered cream puffs and pecan diamonds for a wedding shower for 36 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the selection. The cream in the pastry was light and fluffy and not only were they delicious but beautiful. I ordered mint, salted caramel and raspberry but they were many other choices too...unfortunately there weren't any leftovers. The folks there were very accommodating and worked with me on special arrangements for picking them up. We have also tried the croissants, baguettes and focaccia...all of which were wonderful! This is now our 'go to' place when we need something special or for when we want to treat ourselves!

I could not be any more excited about the opening of this confectionary! I stopped in this morning to pickup some desserts for a gathering this evening that included salted caramel cream puffs, passion fruit napoleons, and chocolate eclairs. I haven't tried them yet but they all look divine! I also grabbed a ham and cheese croissant for my son for lunch that was perfection (I stole a bite!!) and the bon bons were so gorgeous I couldn't resist buying one as a treat for myself. The owner (who was delightful) recommended the honey passion fruit bon bon which did not disappoint. They are almost too beautiful to eat and would make a very nice hostess gift. In my opinion, this confectionary is an upgrade from the previous long-standing shop. I look forward to frequenting here often.

Stopped by the blue canary yesterday for the first time and It is absolutely adorable. We used to come often to le petit prince and didn't realized the blue canary made more than chocolate bonbons. They did a great job revamping the place! They have baguettes, sweet and savory viennoiseries and pâtisseries. We got a couple of desserts that were pretty good but pricey. I spent $10 for 2 individual cakes, one delicious lemon tart and a chocolate eclair that could have been more fresh (crust a little dry). Now, I'm French and know what the real deal tastes like and still not use to pay double the price for everything French inspired. I also wish and so does my family that they would open on time for Sunday breakfast. 9 am is too late for a family with kids.

Nice remodel and very nice family. I visited 2x and I want to like this place but I was less than impressed. Okay full disclosure I was s patron of le petite prince for 25 years so I may be bias. The young baker seems like a sweetheart but I have to pass.

A wonderful small bakery in walking distance to the surrounding neighborhood. Friendly staff and service including the owning family. Be sure to try their Pain au Chocolate (chocolate croissants). Flaky, buttery and delicious.

I ordered 7 dozen homemade marshmallows for favors at a shower. Blue Canary was very helpful in deciding colors and flavors. Everyone got a kick out of the homemade marshmallows being so unique!

Small and cozy, with great treats and service. They always have a family member behind the counter to help with selection. My favorites are the lemon bars, theirs are better than any I have tried, and the black pepper sourdough bread. Good baguettes, I always get them although they are denser than I am used to. Go early or call ahead, they sometimes run out and on Sundays they open at 11 which is unusual for a bakery.

Visiting from Dallas, wish I had Blue Canary there! Best almond croissants I have ever had! OMG...buttery, crispy, gooey almond center...perfection. The cookies are so delicious, butter for days and the Nanaimo bar is better than what you get in BC, Canada. So hats off to you, Blue Canary, for delivering happiness in metro Detroit! Keep up the scrumptious work!

Very impressed by my first trip to Blue Canary! There are a wide variety of pastries, breads, and chocolates to choose from. I tried the pistachio brownie, Nutella cream puff, and Kouign aman - they were all amazing! It's a close call, but the Nutella cream puff was my favorite. It was sinful yet light and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend visiting Blue Canary!

Delicious! The new owners have done a great job of brightening the place up and the pastries were delicious - especially the almond croissant. The owners were very kind as well. It is so nice to have a little bakery within walking distance, I'll be coming here quite a bit in the future :)

Curbside pickup! Ordered the Kouign Amann. One of the best pastries I've tried. It was light, flaky, buttery and paired perfectly with a cup of coffee. Will definitely be back!!

Awesome new bakery. So excited that they have opened. Great treats from chocolates to croissants. Delicious Breads. Focaccia to die for. I went back twice in the same week for it!!!
