Classic cocktail den with a noir vibe & old-school light fixtures serves up traditional drinks.
"Despite having a name that screams "dive bar," Blue Collar is actually a sort of fancy cocktail place in Mid-City, albeit one with a love of 80s rock music and a scenic view of a giant CVS. It's not the most romantic bar in town, but this small Beverly Grove spot has some very talented bartenders who can make you pretty much anything. That may be a stretch, but since there’s no official cocktail menu, we love coming here without a drink in mind and having the staff throw a handful of questions our way. Once they have an idea of what you’re feeling, they pull something together that’s as delicious as it is potent. " - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins
"Despite having a name that screams “dive bar,” Blue Collar is a sort of fancy cocktail place in Mid-City. There’s no menu—you just describe your favorite cocktail to the bartender and let them come up with something that suits your tastes. Starting the night here with a drink is a good way to suss out your potential partner’s taste in whiskey and, if things go well, walk to another dinner spot on Fairfax. "The sparks are flying, and it’s time to capitalize. Blue Collar is one of our favorite neighborhood cocktail bars in the mid-city area, with a cool, maybe-I’m-drinking-in-Paris feel and bartenders who know what they’re doing." - jess basser sanders, amy clark, brant cox
"Blue Collar is tiny bar on Fairfax across the street from a Whole Foods. Its nondescript exterior looks like a forgotten dive bar, but inside you’ll find a dimly-lit space that reminds us of a train car. There’s no cocktail list here - just tell the bartenders what you’re in the mood for. Whatever they make will be exactly what you wanted. Seats are hard to come by here, but the crowd is attractive enough that you won’t really care if you get pinned up against someone you vaguely recognize from a cancelled CW show." - brant cox
"From the outside, this spot on Fairfax looks like it could be any generic bar, but inside it feels like the bar car on a very dark, unrealistically good-looking train. A bar car where you can tell the bartender what you like, and he’ll make you something good. You might not expect to enjoy a spot filled with people who work in finance, until you realize you haven’t spent a night with someone who works full-time since 2013." - brett keating
