I am not crying, I just have some sweat in my eye!
Okay, I was, but do not tell anybody please.
It took a village, but I think I might have finally found a relatively decent Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn. Relatively, because again, I am working with dull tools.
The food here is tasty, homemade, and I could not stop shoveling this. I am much appreciated by the delicious chips and salsa that come to your table as they are some of the best I have had in quite a while.
Since I saw they offer tacos, I had to try them too. The tacos are plentiful and are worth getting. In my opinion, this is the right size of a taco. These felt right out of San Diego.
I also ordered a Burrito Norteña, a northern style burrito. The burrito is of decent size and is served with sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. The three sides all work great and give extra flavor and character to the burrito. I ordered mine with chorizo, which is fine, but I feel this burrito might work best with chicken or steak. Shrimp? Quite possible.
This restaurant really needs to hire more staff. It took 30 minutes to get my food, which is highly unacceptable for this cuisine. In my experience, Mexican food should be from kitchen to table in no more than 15 minutes, 20 if the dish requires a little more effort. The staff did say they had a large order to fill in the back (14 burrito takeout order), and apologized for the lengthy wait. Thankfully the food is good, and they owned up to the inconvenience, so I will forgive them.
During the weekends, they offer some eclectic brunch items that really seem worth a try. They also offer enchiladas that I must come back and try as well.
Now if you excuse me, I need a tissue to dry these tears.
