"The laidback cafe in the heart of West Lake Hills offers five types of cheeses, as well as grapes, olives, and jam on its board, plus wines. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Darcie Duttweiler

Amazing place for super tasty food. You can tell the chef here cares about the food and provides that extra bit to make things unique. I had the Belgian waffle, and there were little bits of sugar to add a separate crunch that made it taste awesome. I could hear the waiters say "corner" when walking in the kitchen. That means that they care enough to let others know they are near. They run a tight ship and everyone was friendly.

Google
Nice little place. Was a little hot inside while we were there. Family style dining. I had the French Dip sandwich, which was good. I would like to have had maybe a little salad or some chips to come with it instead of a couple pieces of lettuce. It took a bit to get service but overall I would stop in again.

It's not often I give a full five star review where it's food service and atmosphere all put into one. The blue Dahlia Cafe styles itself as a French bistro and delivers on that promise. My partner and I came for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived a little after 1:30 p.m. and the entire menu was available. Breakfast options, brunch options, lunch options galore. Not only were the prices reasonable, the portions are if anything overly generous. We had a basket of bread which came with two types of jam, and Nutella. There is also olive oil and high quality balsamic vinegar at the table. Although there were many excellent brunch options such as blintzes, custard French toast, crepes both sweet and savory... My partner and I opted for the open face tartine sandwiches. I had the smoked salmon, and she opted for the tuna salad. They came served on a plate made of slate stone, four slices, heaped generously with a side salad and fresh fruit. In this case, grapes. The total for both of us eating was $35. In this day and age, that is an insane bargain for the quality and quantity you get. Come here for brunch, come here for lunch, you won't leave hungry and you very likely will be very happy.

I thought the food was decent. I really wanted to go for the ambience and the cheese board. I liked the cheese board but wasn’t too thrilled on service. The spread looked amazing just wish it tasted as good as it looks and I wish the service was better. We kind of felt like a nuisance.

Google
Excellent! We ordered an office lunch pick up order and the food was so well-prepared, fresh & flavorful. I love that they use eco-friendly containers as well. Definitely recommend Blue Dahlia!

Google
Yummy, healthy food and loose leaf tea?! AND a dog-friendly patio? YES PLEASE!!! 😍😍😍 I'm not typically one for brunch but this place was So Good!!! I got the egg white frittata and my friend got their Granna's Bread Pudding French Toast with a side of scrambled eggs. (we shared both) would 100% recommend both and my friend also Loves their many flavors of mimosas! (We didn't try them at this visit but definitely will next time!) #EatLocal y'all!

Google
I've been here twice now; the atmosphere is very chill and the service is quick and friendly. The food is absolutely amazing and portions are fair for what you pay - relatively inexpensive for great food.

Amie

Google
The food was absolutely delicious! The only reason I’m giving 4 stars vs. 5 is because we sat at the bar and they were so busy we were often forgotten about. Disputes that, the coffee was fantastic, the cheese board was delicious, and the frittata was heavenly!

Yelp
Blue Dahlia is a quaint spot for breakfast and lunch with a relaxing outdoor area. We seated ourselves and were met with quick and friendly service. We ordered some coffees, the savory crepes, and the French dip sandwich. The moccachino is a latte that comes with a pot of chocolate sauce so you get to decide how chocolatey to make your drink. I really enjoyed it, although it's definitely on the sweeter side. Blue Dahlia's French dip is my favorite item on their menu, with delicious melty cheese and au jus that is never too salty. Blue Dahlia's savory crepes are also very good, and definitely a great breakfast option if you enjoy crème fraiche. Each of these entrees are paired with a side salad with excellent dressing. I'd definitely recommend breakfast or lunch here if you're ever in the Westlake area.

Ashley C.

Yelp
An American restaurant that markets itself as a French restaurant. I came here for lunch, and the parking lot was already packed. I ordered the crepes. Delicious, but the only way of ruining a crepe is by burning it. Since crepes need to be thin. Nothing else our table ordered was impressive. I heard from a person sitting at our table as well that Blue Dahlia used to be good and seemed to have went downhill ever since it opened its first location. Either that or this location isn't good. I can see why they were disappointed. I certainly was.

Yelp
While in the area, I decided to stop in to Blue Dahlia for lunch as I was looking for a light lunch with fresh ingredients. That's exactly what I found at Blue Dahlia. The portion sizes were perfect for me, and everything tasted fresh. The baguette that came with the meal was my favorite part. It was so soft on the inside with the perfect crispness on the outside and was served warm with butter. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The service was just okay, and the atmosphere felt as expected for the location it's in. However, I would definitely eat there again if ever in the area. I love places that serve real food.

Yelp
I am a big fan of brunch spots. Nevertheless, this place had wonderful wait staff, superb brunch options, and had a picturesque ambience. The Turkey tartine was light and was easy on the stomach! The salmon eggs Benedict looked divine, but the salad portion was a bit overwhelming. The French toast is a must. Cheers!

Carolina B.

Yelp
Really cute bistro in West Lake Hills! We had an enjoyable weekend lunch. Fresh, simple ingredients and a great menu. Lovely outdoor patio and plenty of indoor seating. The staff is friendly!

Kyle G.

Yelp
I stopped in today and I have to say, if you enjoy the complimentary hotel breakfasts, this is the place for you! I had the waffles with a side of bacon. The waffles were tiny and had no flavor besides the crystallized sugar found within, the bacon was fine, but, again, the complimentary breakfast at a hotel would be comparable. Save yourself the calories (and the expense), head somewhere else.

Alison C.

Yelp
A cute little gem in the Westlake neighborhood! Blue Dahlia Bistro is located off of Bee Caves Road and is the sweetest spot for a cozy, low-key meal with friends and family. Unless there's a ton of shoppers at the boutiques next door, parking is hardly a problem. They have ample seating indoors and outdoors, but definitely make a reservation if coming at high traffic hours. We've been here for brunches and tried the frittata, French dip sandwich, and blueberry blintzes so far. Frittata is my fave; I love the seasonal offerings and how it comes with fresh bread, salad, and delicious dressing. The sandwich was well-loved, too. We probably wouldn't order the blintzes again unless it was shared amongst a group & I had Lactaid on hand - the dish was super cheesy (like 90% ricotta, 10% everything else) and more like a dessert. Pricing is fair for the amount and quality of food & service has always been swift and cordial.

Juliana G.

Yelp
Really good brunch today. I am amazed by how delicious the French toast pudding was. I highly recommend it. The ambience is cozy and homie. The service is very friendly as well. Our first time at Blue Dahlia was e spectacular.

Tom A.

Yelp
This place was very good. The food was well crafted, as expected. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, but what I will say is that the sandwich felt pretty light. Meat, mustard, tomato, lettuce, etc. Service was extremely fast and very helpful and the ambiance was that dark elegant type look you'd expect with an expensive shop. It was relatively expensive for the total amount of good given.

Taylor C.

Yelp
Came for a work lunch around 11:50 am and found a table immediately. The tables inside are quite small but it allows for more guests, so I'm not surprised. Our server promptly brought menus to us and took a drink order. I was expecting a crazy lunch rush (which there was) but she remained attentive and the food came out quickly. I got the fresh lemonade (so good) and the black bean salad and added chicken salad. The salad was huge and had a yummy vinaigrette (bit spicy). The chicken salad was so good! I don't think it was the best combination but I would've eaten the chicken salad as my meal. Great flavor! I also loved the two different pieces of bread and butter I got with my salad. My guest got the prosciutto and mozz tartine. She said she wasn't that hungry and ended up eating most of her plate -- she couldn't help it! Love that they use organic/local ingredients as much as possible. We'll be back! Only downfall is the parking. While it's located in a plaza with lots of parking, the spots are really small and many are reserved for other businesses.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Not a bad place. The food is a good homecooked meal. I love their buffalo chicken sandwich. The staff are always really friendly. Food comes out quick. Great if you have kids who want to run around outdoors. Love the open concept of the front part. It's nice to have the open air and a small playground for kids. Definitely will continue to stop in.

Dawn S.

Yelp
My friend and I met for lunch and we both agreed on this gem. It was halfway between us distance-wise so even better! It was midday- around one so even though it was shady it was too hot to sit outside! I always love getting the hibiscus mint ice tea. My friend had a yummy cappuccino. You can't go wrong with one of their tartines. I can't stay away from the egg salad with the capers on top. My friend got the French dip, which looked amazing. We do love a good patio so check the patio out when it's a bit cooler and check out the inside anytime!

Louise G.

Yelp
My first time here. We came to celebrate my mom's 77th birthday. My daughter and I ordered the leek, mushroom and havarti frittata. It started out okay and then... cardboard. We had bits of cardboard in our frittata. I do have to thank the manager for apologizing and offering to give us something else. Good manager, good service, the cooks need to just be a little more careful when preparing the food. I may try it again. At least mom liked her coffee and waffles.

Michelle Y.

Yelp
Mm, I was unimpressed. I ordered the Prosciutto and Mozzarella Tartine. While I expected the bread to have a toasty crunch to it, I found it to be slightly soggy. It tells you on the menu that the tartine is served on whole wheat bread instead of sourdough, but even then I did not expect it to be such flimsy slices of bread - basically like the kind that you would buy in the bread aisle of a grocery store. I really enjoyed the pesto, but it was a huge bummer that each tartine only had a small dollop of the pesto placed on top of the mozzarella rather than spread across the entirety of the toast. It seems as though this place focuses more on the aesthetics of the dish rather than its flavors/taste. While plated beautifully, the tartine just didn't taste as good as it looked.

Mary K.

Yelp
Menu is simple but everything I've ever eaten there has been delicious. I need to add to this review because Yelp won't let me post anything less than 85 characters.

Christina H.

Yelp
I loved the original Blue Dahlia when she was on E 11th and was a bit skeptical to try out the Westlake location. However, post-lunch, and I am still smiling. I absolutely love bistros. Bistros tend to serve light, simple dishes that make you content. Blue Dahlia embodies this definition. For lunch, I had the Savory Crepe, which was stuffed with ham & havarti cheese topped with crème fraiche alongside a bed of fresh arugula and spinach. The dressing they served for the bed of greens, just wow, SO REFRESHING. The savory crepe was delicious. Though it was drenched in crème fraiche, it still felt light enough for me to think it was healthy. Quality A++ Unfortunately, service was not very attentive here.

Kailash S.

Yelp
Overpriced with underwhelming product. I ordered a Parisian sandwich and a scoop of chicken salad. The sandwich was on the bland side. and had a real gas station taste to it. The cream cheese I got with it was nice and flavorful but every other part was a real let down. The bread tasted very generic. Chicken salad was okay. It was pretty good but nothing to write home about. The place itself is really nice and has a great ambience to study or to have fun with friends.

Kishan S.

Yelp
Blue Dahlia bistro was a delightful dining experience for my friends and I that entailed brunch food on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered several dishes and shared everything. Everything tasted incredible and we had a wonderful time here. I will definitely come back to visit and I highly recommend checking this place out as well.

Phylica Y.

Yelp
Came here for a quick brunch meal, and I got the Salmon Eggs Benedict. It comes with a salad, and I opted for the lemon ish vinegarette dressing, I added an avocado. It was really good!

Rafael W.

Yelp
Stopped by for brunch and the food was excellent as well as the coffee. Service was slow, however everyone was very attentive. I'll definitely be back.

Sam H.

Yelp
Great crepes for breakfast Nice service Excellent French bread Quiet location but parking is tight.

Yelp
Delicious and hearty. I want to say that I first went to Blue Dahlia when it was a little shop in East Austin. Could that be right? All I remember was a menu that was a throw back to early Austin for me. The early 80's and when Whole Foods was reminding us that Tofu wasn't just for hippies and you could grab your grains out of a bin on Lamar Blvd. I had noshed there a few times and then life moved on. I was invited to eat here with a colleague and was curious as to what had happened in the years since I last had a meal at the Dahlia. East Austin to Westlake Hills is quite a change, but as soon as I entered, I felt the warmth of the days gone by. A nice snug, bustling bistro for sure. I met my friends and ordered up the Black Bean salad with a scoop of Egg Salad. Curious wierd right? I had a hankering for some different stuff. Other's order the Coq au Vin Blanc and the Tuna Salad. My salad arrived and it was on a huge plate, full of veggie goodness and bright yellow scoop of Egg Salad. The Egg Salad and Beans went quite well. I also liked that the dressing was served on the side, since I didn't really need it and the avocado, tomato and corn blended well together. I didn't scarf the entire salad, I was doing a lot of talking so I boxed up the remains and brought them home to a very gratefull wifey poo. Service was very good, attentive and let us visit and talk and not get in the way. The only curious item was when asked if I wanted to take the rest of my salad to go, I was provided a to go box, rather then having put into a box for me. A tad clumsy, but by no means a big issue at all. I did manage to get everything into the box without leaving half of it on the table. I cannot judge price point anymore, but if you feel $18.50 for a hearty, with an add on Egg Salad expensive, then there's that. There were all the beautiful people serving and working there and the clientele is very much Westlake along with an impossibly difficult parking lot at 1pm on a Wednesday. I was able to find a spot, but with SUV world out there and ok, I also drive Infiniti QX70, made the spots skinnier then one would think. Is it worth the hassle? Yes, I would give it a total thumbs up!

Aly F.

Yelp
super tasty!! service and food were both wonderful. i left feeling satisfied and healthy

Lauren B.

Yelp
Delicious food! The Parisian sandwich was simple but had wonderful flavor. The a la carte menu is also very versatile. The service was great and very attentive.

Mekalah A.

Yelp
I thought the food was decent. I really wanted to go for the ambience and the cheese board. I liked the cheese board but wasn't too thrilled on service. The spread looked amazing just wish it tasted as good as it looks and I wish the service was better. We kind of felt like a nuisance.

Yelp
Blue Dahlia was a great cafe for a large group of friends to meet before heading on a tour of the Texas State Capitol building. We arrived and the ambiance was quaint. They placed us at a long table that was roomy. The staff were very accommodating to our big group and the food was delicious and presented beautifully. The two downfalls were: the coffee's took about a half hour to come to the table and the breakfast menu selection was small. Other than that it was a perfect setting to begin our girls day. Yay!

Brenda P.

Yelp
I am impressed! Definitely get a reservation if you're coming in a group. We came in a group of over ten for a birthday and it was fantastic. The mimosas are very well priced at $3 for a small, $6 for a large (it is a lot!!), or a flight for $7. Let me just tell you I did not finish my flight haha. I tried lavender, pomegranate, pear, and rose. The floral flavors definitely had a strong floral taste, so avoid them if you don't want a semi soapy taste. The entree were delicious. I tried the savory ham crepe (5/5) and the blueberry sweet crepe (4/5 - avoid if you aren't a fan of ricotta cheese). I would definitely go here again, and they have $2 OJ mimosas on Saturday and Sunday as well.

Holly H.

Yelp
Great little hideaway for breakfast lunch or dinner. Always consistent and fabulous soups

Tom S.

Yelp
Hey, don't dis one of our favorite places. The service is great, the waitstaff are great. The food is very good, a bit overpriced. The servings have shrunk some in the years we've been. A serving of coq au vin used to feed my wife and myself, now we need two. My wishes? 1) Get a bar. 2) Vary the menu. Try several special entrees each evening. You have one now and then, aways excellent, but then it disappears. Or we come at 6:30 and you are sold out. 3) Open more than 3 nights a week.

Lisa C.

Yelp
Very relaxing atmosphere! Staff was wonderful. Great quaint place with excellent food for date night. Crabcake salad is delish. More breading from the version I had a few years ago from what I remember but delish nonetheless.

Quin B.

Yelp
Been here twice. It's a good place for a light lunch. I love tartines. This place reminds me of LA. from the wall art to the interior design to the freshness of their food.... this place screams West Hollywood with its casual chic. I have tried the hummus tartine which is my favorite. Their turkey one is ok. I got a hummus platter which was pretty much a hummus tartine but deconstructed. I liked the lightness of everything and it still Maher to fill me up.

Jason C.

Yelp
My family and I love the breakfast/brunch here. Always great food and service. And always clean.

Steve K.

Yelp
I've been eating at BD for a long time, since the old place on East 7th (or was it 11th?) opened. Now I go to the spot on Bee Caves. The vibe is always laid back and cool. I love the tartine open face sandwiches. All of them. And the little subs. And soup. Oh, yeah the bread is amazing. But the coconut macaroon and thumbprint cookies are A-Ma-Zing.

Ximena S.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely ambiance !!!!! Loved all the food and the service was impeccable ! Ask for Brenda w her beautiful smile & always so attentive loved it! Will definitely be back

Wes S.

Yelp
Omg I found this place randomly on Apple Maps and I gotta say... I was amazed with their food! Definitely worth going to and not too expensive for the amount they give you either!

Esther R.

Yelp
I went to the Blue Dahlia Bistro for a late Breakfast prior to boarding a Vonlane bus to Fort Worth. Since I was not driving , I added a Lavender Mimosa to my Blueberry Blintzes. Both were delightful and delicious. It was a very nice start to a 3 hour bus ride. Esther

Andrea G.

Yelp
Mediocre service at best. Took 25 minutes to get a water and the check after asking 3 separate servers. Food was okay but overpriced. I'd go somewhere else first, but in all not a terrible option

Diego V.

Yelp
Went there this morning. If yall read this i was the cowboy getting back to the ranch thats a bit talkative. I was making friends w the waiter and must say super hospitable place with great quick service. Good food and overall good quality of cooking! Good place to eat a french breakfast or lunch as I've been to france myself.

Greta F.

Yelp
Fantastic service, delicious food, along with yummy mimosas for Sunday brunch! Tuna Salad Sandwich.Meatloaf.

Anielka E.

Yelp
This Bistro spot was just the kind of brunch spot I was looking for. My friends arrived bright and early when there was hardly anyone there. We had the choice of sitting outside to enjoy the fresh crisp fall weather. The food was delicious , light and fresh. I , for one was happy that my meal brought a nice spring salad with light dressing. The lightness of the salad made it more enjoyable the side bread that the meals come with. My friends and I shared the sweet vanilla Belgian waffles! I give 5 stars just for that sweet treat! The waffles were fluffy and delicious, a must try! The service could have been better ( attentive wise) considering that there were not a lot of costumers there but the food and my company made up for it. Overall, worth checking out if you want breakfast food with a healthy kick.

Lester F.

Yelp
Waited by the door for 10 minutes, making eye contact with just about every single staff member and not a single person approached us. Finally, we walk up to the kitchen and ask about seating and we are told there is a 10 minute wait, in a half-empty restaurant. We waited for our name to be called, all to see several couples walk in, seat themselves, and have their tables wiped down. I understand staffing shortages, yet it is frustrating when 8 different servers and a manager are that indifferent about a potential customer.

Jane O.

Yelp
Coq au vin was on point! Served with small salad and two large pieces of bread. Excellent! The blintzes looked amazing but I wasn't able to taste one. There were three in the order. They looked small but pretty on that giant plate. Large outdoor seating and lots of parking. Easy in and out.

Bryan R.

Yelp
Love this place. Try the blueberry blintzes and you won't be disappointed. I like the variety of entrees on the menu. Their waiters are great. Very friendly and accommodating.

Tammy B.

Yelp
I went setting is limited, food seems to look good but their is no meal customization what you see is what you get. I wanted a plain tuna. Said they couldn't do it that tuna was already "pre-made" I'm not sure if their kitchen ready I would say this place is good for drinks

Dani W.

Yelp
This place is so adorable. Talk about family owned. I popped in on a day the latte machine was broken, But I'm fine with with a classic coffee. Everyone was so sweet and friendly. The food looked good but I'll have to be back to try the food. As I just need a quick place to kill 20 minutes before a client I was shocked to not see a ton of workers on laptops in this place. Seems perfect. Oh well if you need a good spot to work I recommend this. It's quiet so you can focus on what you need.

Raquel M.

Yelp
Pretty decent place. The food was good and the service decent. The location is central but parking can be challenging. I would recommend this place. I am not giving 5* because the place is small and people tend to be too close to each other, even the the patio is small and can get crowded. Also, they don't seem to have a lot severs, so don't expect a fast service - that is not a big deal but problematic if you are in a hurry - lunch break or whatever. Menu is limited but options are decent. Overall, worth the try!

Kiara B.

Yelp
Great place for brunch. Good food! Belgian waffles and crab salad are my favorites. Will be back soon

Bridget L.

Yelp
Had an amazing Saturday brunch here! It wasn't too crowded, seemed to fit the perfect amount of people. We were seated immediately. I had the sweet Belgian waffles, which were probably the best waffles I've ever had. The texture was soft and almost like a croissant. The sugar inside added a delicious crunch! The portion was a bit small, but that saves me some calories. I was told the chicken salad sandwich was really light and fresh. The tartines are arranged beautifully. All the servers were friendly, but a bit inattentive. Had to ask multiple times for water refills and even had to walk up to the counter for them to swipe the card. Other than that, it was great! Everything priced affordably (under $10).

Nan T.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in all of Austin. I still miss their East Side location terribly, but their Bee Cave spot is still great even if it ambiance is different. Great drinks, great food, and great service -- all at a great price point. Their tartines, sangria, and their granola are the best things on the menu. They've trimmed their menu since COVID which is a bummer. I love coming here and bringing out-of-towners as well.

Chelly B.

Yelp
Great quality food overall, fresh, flavorful. Quick service once seated. Forgetful hostess and patio wreaked of barf and trash since they left the door to the alleyway open
