=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE
THE best brunch place in town? Blue Fox has our vote based on food quality, service, and price - very reasonably-priced even when compared to others in the area (e.g. Cora, Shine, etc.) - so while the menu isn't as kid-friendly as the competition, they do really well for the kids at heart!
=== 2. FOOD
Fox's Grill ($22)
The choice for the undecided or those with more of an appetite: three eggs your way, two big sausages, three crisply good-sized links of bacon, fresh-cut homestyle potatoes, two slices of your choice of toast (note: the jam is handmade daily - so your choice is just whatever they made that day), with fresh whole mushrooms and slices of tomato to boot.
Margherita Omelette ($19)
An all-veg omelette with two slices of your choice of toast that can come with pastries, salad or fruit too - great healthy option!
Pancakes
Perhaps the only let down: if you have small children, there is no kids' menu. You can get a half order on things, but it's not half the price. We typically do the double stack of pancakes ($16), half-order (so one pancake...where they simply deduct $3.50). It comes with powdered sugar, cinnamon, maple syrup and optionally, chocolate syrup - and it's a very large, fluffy pancake, but it's a steep price to pay!
=== 3. SERVICE
Despite the fact they seem constantly busy from even before their doors open, the service is always professional, with a smile, and as fast as they seemingly can go.
=== 4. ENVIRONMENT
They did a bit of a facelift indoors in January 2024; it's an older-looking decor that clean and tidy - able to fit groups of maybe up to 6 - it's best to keep your group smaller. The wait on the sidewalk outside can be extensive, so get there just before opening time if you can.The windows along the streetfront let in a lot of natural light. Wheelchairs and baby strollers are tightly squeezed here. Parking is all metered on the street, but if you walk further down Fort Street, there is some free street side parking.
