Blue Heron Restaurant at Ojo Santa Fe Spa Resort

We loved that we could order and take our food back to the room—since we were staying at the spa, it made everything so convenient. Service was fast, dinner was amazing with spot-on flavors, but breakfast… that was truly beyond amazing! Highly recommend!

The atmosphere and the service were great however, our food was incredibly bland. The whipped feta with pita bread was good. We were disappointed in the drink menu. They only offer about five cocktail options, we tried to order off of the cocktail list and they said they can only make the handful of cocktails that they have on their list, which was disappointing. My friend ordered the scallops and the presentation was quite messy and the scallops were very small and tasteless. They also just put down a handful of bitter arugula as a side without seasoning or cooking it or even dressing it as a salad. I ordered the short ribs which I didn’t think were possible to be bland however, The taste and meal overall left much to be desired. Very disappointing for a $200 meal.

We’re staying on property so eating here is easy. We’ve experienced all meals both in restaurant and take out. The take out experience was easy. I had the capreese sandwich with fries. The sandwich was large and more than enough for me it was ok. My husband had the veggie patty burger. He said it was ok. We had breakfast there. Service was quick and the meal was fine. Both of us had eggs, toast and potatoes. We’ve eaten dinner there twice. The service was really slow both times despite it not being very busy. I would recommend reservations. I had the hummus and the whipped feta for my meal. Both were yummy. The hummus was three different types and the beet and carrot were spicy. The feta was really good. My husband had had the spinach salad. The next night o had the green chili stew without meat and it was gooood. A bit spicy for me but I paired it with the spinach salad so it balances it out. My husband had pasta pomodoro with chicken. It was a good portion size. We shared the cheese cake which I must say was substandard. It was partially frozen so it just crumbled as we cut into it. And it was flavorless. Overall a great place to eat while on property. It is rather pricey though but I’ve found most good restaurants in the area are pricy.

We arrived early for our 5:30 PM reservation and were welcomed warmly (off to a good start), we were seated, told we could order from either the lunch or dinner menu. Then things went downhill. While there were two wait staff in the mostly empty dining room (it was before 5), no one came to our table to take our order. Other patrons were seated, their orders taken and drinks and food served. After 20 minutes of waving at the wait staff and having a sense we were invisible, I connected with the person who seated us. He was extremely apologetic, gave us a free delicious cheese and pita appetizer. The waitress finally came to take our order Saying that she never saw us even though I’ve seen her see us multiple times. I thought I would give the Christmas special of chicken a try. $40. My husband chose off a regular menu and got enchiladas. Delivery of the food was within reasonable, not speedy. Almost one hour after we arrived. The patrons who arrived after us were finished with their meal and paying their bill. Sadly the Christmas special was not what I was expecting in comparison to my last visit when the food was outstanding along with the service. It was not worth a $40 charge. The chicken was dry, the kale not cut with no seasoning and the stuffing was just OK. We had a wonderful time in the past as I said with great food and service. This experience was very disappointing. My husband shared his enchilada was OK. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Hot Springs and highly recommend them. Our hotel room is perfect. The pool is wonderful and morning Yoga very good. We had planned to have more meals during our stay at the restaurant, but opted out this time around Due to this experience. I do want to credit the gentleman who seated us and attempted to be helpful. How much was our bill at Heron?

Great service, but the chef/cooks should be ashamed serving this for $40-50 a plate. Had to send my steak back twice and finally just got it refunded. Salmon was extremely overcooked too. Horrible quality food for the price. Do yourself a favor and grab food from elsewhere before heading to the spa.

I was with a friend we ate in the last 45 minutes of their lunch time and we did not feel rushed. the food came out promptly and was delicious. I had the curry soup with shrimp which came with a nice piece of toasted French roll. I had three or four large shrimp in my soup and it was very satisfying. service was attentive. all in all, a lovely experience

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and had dinner and breakfast at the Blue Heron. It's a small, cute dining room with pretty views of the property, including the lake. If you're lucky and get a window table the view is especially pretty. There were also outdoor tables and we saw quite a few people enjoying breakfast out there, but we only ate inside. We had the same server for dinner and breakfast and she was really nice. We came on weekdays so it was very quiet. Our server said that it can get quite busy on the weekends but we never experienced that. For the dinner, I had the pork shank, AKA osso buco. It had a honey red chili sauce, plus candied yams and kale. The meat was cooked really well and very tender, and quite delicious inside. The sauce was okay, but it was a little too sweet for my liking. I would have rather it had more savory and red chili flavor, but it wasn't awful. The meat was really quite good. The candy yams were tasty but the portion was huge and there's no way I could ever finish it. It did make me a bit nostalgic for Thanksgiving, I hadn't had that in a while. The kale was lightly cooked and fairly fresh tasting but didn't have any other flavor. It should have used salt. For breakfast I got huevos rancheros and this was actually a very nice plate. Here I got to taste the red chili on its own and it was excellent, some of the better red chili I've had. Well spiced and not bitter. The hash browns were again nicely cooked but very plain and I needed to add some salt. That is a general theme, things tasted a bit undersalted and I wonder if that's because this is somewhat of a healthful place, ie the spa and mineral springs. At dinner, I resisted adding salt but wish I had. For breakfast I added salt to the hash browns and a little to the eggs and it fixed everything up. The rest of the flavored were great. Overall, it's pretty pricey but you should be and to guess that going in. everyone is really nice and the dining room feels very nice to sit in. I be wish the food was better salted, but overall it's solid.

Five stars for the food, for freshness and flavor. The prices are reasonable for high quality options. Make a reservation and show up hungry. You don’t have to be a guest of the hotel or the spa to enjoy the restaurant but if you’re spending time in the pools I recommend dinner afterwards. There’s a coffee shop with snacks, salads, and sandwiches on the other side of the resort to help hold you over. The service was lacking in my experience, our server wasn’t attentive and we felt like a bit of a bother. I didn’t pay much attention to it but possibly because they didn’t pay much attention to us. We still had a wonderful experience, the overall atmosphere is more tranquil outside the restaurant than within. If the weather is nice, consider outdoor seating. Overall we had a pleasant experience. Both the ribs and chicken were delicious, tender with a robust flavor, I recommend the ribs over the chicken if you’re okay with red meat. I’d like to try brunch next time!

This spot is conveniently located right on the Ojo property, making it an easy choice for visitors. When you're that relaxed, the last thing you want to worry about is what to cook for lunch. We stopped by for lunch during our soaking session. Admittedly, we were a little unsure about showing up in the robes provided at check-in, but the restaurant didn't seem to mind at all--very spa-friendly vibes. The patio seating is lovely, with beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere. Just a heads-up: in the afternoons, some tables lack shade, and the staff seems mindful not to seat guests where it might be uncomfortably hot. Inside, the restaurant is cool and pleasant, with large windows that let you take in the scenery--trees, the pond, birds fluttering about. It's a serene backdrop for a meal. Service was a bit slow, and it felt like we waited quite a while for our food. That said, once it arrived, it was worth the wait. I went with the fish tacos on the patio. While the fish itself was slightly overdone, the flavors were fantastic. The cabbage slaw, jicama slaw, and mango salsa came together beautifully--bright, fresh, and layered. It was a flavor party for the tastebuds. My husband chose the hamburger with bacon and truffle fries. Unfortunately, there was a hiccup with the fryer, so the fries weren't as crispy as expected. Still, the kitchen did their best to pull the dish together, and the flavors held up. Overall, this restaurant is a perfect complement to the Ojo experience--laid-back, scenic, and satisfying. If you're soaking and unwinding, this is exactly the kind of place you want to ease into a meal. Great flavors, peaceful views, and a vibe that matches the serenity of the springs. Highly recommend making it part of your visit.

Since it's the only restaurant at/near Ojo springs, convenience is definitely the draw. Service is slow and not very friendly. Quintessential SF decor, which I love. Dishes had great flavor but poorly executed. Green chile eggs Benedict had rich hollandaise with chopped green and poached egg, but the both ham and English muffin were so tough I couldn't cut w/ knife and fork. The French toast had a nice orange essence. But it wasn't cooked well: burnt outside and underdone inside. Lunch was better bc it was simpler. Club sandwich was generous and came with side. The unexpected delight was the Nana's chocolate mousse. What a delight! I would eat here if you were staying at the Ojo resort but I would not make a special trip. Again, convenience is the main draw.

Food is good after a long soak in the hot springs. You can eat at the restaurant in your robe It is small and noisy but the food is good! Very pretty setting. Servers are friendly.

Service was great. Beautiful restaurant with views of the property. The ceviche was fresh and delicious. The bread plate was also baked locally and tasted great. Drinks were good. Beautiful area

Before enjoying our spa day, we came here to have a late lunch and i was impressed by this spot. They had a beautiful view of the spanning resort and nicely decorated dining room. Four different people looked after us including the CDC Zach, who brought us out our entrees. I chose to go with the beef brisket sandwich on a french baguette, with arugula, cheddar cheese, grilled onions and a balsamic glaze. It was so good, with plenty of meat that went beyond what i thought of the amount that i expected. It got a little messy, but it was a fantastic sandwich. My girlfriend chose the southwest club, with smoked ham, turkey, NM green chile, cheddar, applewood smoked bacon (that was flavored and crisp to perfection), lettuce, tomato and wheatberry bread and red chile aioli. She gave me the bacon and enjoyed the sandwich overall. The thing that stood out, more for my girlfriend was the hibiscus, vodka and Prosecco drink. It got her messed up, hitting her hard. She pondered on having a second, but because we hadn't done our session, I told her not to have another, so she could enjoy the experience left to come. I look forward to making that drink for her in the future so kudos on the Blue Heron to throw a KO drink. I told Chef Zach, i would be saying a lot of good things about his restaurant. Hope he is thrilled by it.

4.5 stars Came here on Monday for lunch and there was no wait in the restaurant. My dad got the club and I got the squash soup ($8). The soup wasn't quite wasn't what I was expecting as it came in a martini glass (guess I should've gone with the blue corn pancakes). It was very warm temperature-wise and the local honey added some sweetness to it. Since we were celebrating my birthday, they brought out a small chocolate cake with berries. It had a harder outer crust of chocolate and was delicious. The views were great and you could find some reasonably priced items on the menu. 2025 #1

This was an awesome place to have breakfast! In our way to Bandelier and looking for a breakfast place! It was totally worth it!

The ONLY reason to eat here is convenience -- if you're staying at Ojo Santa Fe, there aren't many choices nearby. I don't think anyone in the kitchen actually tastes the food, they just crank it out. This is truly a sin, because there SO MANY fantastic restaurants to choose from in Santa Fe. The food is bland, and anything with character feels like it comes right out a jar! The meat and vegetables were prepared well, but lacked any flavor.

We waited and waited... Table was sticky. The bread plate actually stuck to the table. The water glass was dirty. Ordered a traditional (I thought) Caesar salad. I have serious GERD and something in the salad was quite hot (spicy) which I didn't appreciate. Restaurants should note that on the menu. It took forever to get waited on and even longer to receive the food. The music was way too loud. This is a 'spa' and music should thusly be softer...less stressful. The staff needs to pick it up a bit, spa or no spa...hungry folks like their food in a reasonable time frame. Had I no GETD, I would give it a higher score; but the spicy heat should be noted on the menu. Conner, the host, left his station for about 15 minutes, while people came - and left. Incredibly slacking staff.

The food is amazing, service was excellent, and ambience was relaxed and inviting. We started off of the ceviche which had a good amount of meat. It was cooked just right in the citrus juices to allow the flavors to come out. we also got the scallops which had an amazing flavor. Petworth risotto, this made for an excellent and filling dish. We also got the burger, which was very tasty as well. I will definitely come here again, especially if we decide to spend some more time at ojos Santa fe

Review of Blue Heron at Ojo Santa Fe - 1/28/25 My love and I celebrated her birthday for the second year in a row and had a 5-star experience at Blue Heron. Chef Zachary Perron is outstanding and worked to create a wonderful dinner and experience. He loves his craft and we benefited from his attention to detail and love of cooking. Thank you Ojo Santa Fe and Blue Heron!

This place is such a relaxing vibe after an equally relaxing time at the spa resort on property, but don't let that fool you... this is a place you should dress nice for. Reservations were not hard to get the day of. Everything was delicious, but it is very much on the high end. This is your full disclaimer you can pass on the salad, it's not as exciting as you would hope paying $12 for a half size (even though the size is quite impressive.) The pita bread & honey whip dip on other the hand is a MUST TRY - but fair warning it is so sweet it could almost be had for desert (it's giving Sopaipilla.) The pasta featured is also delicious as well, but there's enough to serve 3. Portion sizes for price make sense. But pricing at location does not imo.

Blue Heron was located about a half mile from our Airbnb so we figured we had to dine once during our vacation. We dressed up since it seemed to be a bit of a nicer restaurant, but everyone else was dressed down. It was pretty and bright inside with lots of natural light. I got the ribeye steak with truffle parmesan fries and asparagus and it was good. I thought the steak lacked seasoning but other than that, I enjoyed my meal. The service was great also, I did think our food was a tad bit over priced though.

A very lovely dining room with a beautiful view out onto their property. Get a window seat if you can. Service was friendly and food was wonderful over all. The bread pudding was the surprise star of the evening. Unlike other spa restaurants, they will not accommodate you in your robe for dinner, so be prepared for a change in/out of your wet suit.

Delicious food in an amazing spa ambiance. Absolutely professional and friendly service. I had the ceviche appetizer and the seared scallops dinner entree. The ceviche was very crisp and tart and beautifully seasoned. The scallops were absolutely cooked perfectly and were expertly accented by the red chili, parsnip cream. It can be a little bit more on the price your side, but if you're already there at the spa, treat yourself to the great dinner experience as well.

We ate at the Blue Heron for three meals while staying at Ojo (evening drinks and dessert; breakfast; and dinner). The restaurant is a small one with views for the tables at the window overlooking the grounds. The service is attentive, if somewhat stiff. The ojito (a mojito but with vodka instead of rum) is addicting. The tres leches cake is superb! The open-face enchiladas were delicious, as was breakfast. The only suggestions I think I'd have is the staff being slightly more approachable and a larger selection on the menu. The menu isn't the largest.

Service was great. Ambiance was unparalleled (outdoor patio amongst the trees, you can hear running water, feels private). However the food itself left much to be desired unfortunately. The vegetarian cauliflower dish was 28 dollars and had canned tomatoes , unseasoned steamed spinach, and corn that was either from a can or previously frozen. Sea bass was overpriced but good nonetheless. Overall it's a beautiful space but the food doesn't quite catch up with the four star caliber of the resort. If you're able to explore Santa Fe, would recommend doing so as there are amazing food options within 20-30 minutes.

I dined here twice while staying at the Santa Fe Ojo Spa resorts. They recommend making reservations once your trip is booked if you're staying overnight. However, we felt that totally unnecessary. In fact I think after our like 12 hour journey in the middle of the night to get to New Mexico we were starving and pretty much were the first ones at the door for when they opened for lunch service. I like the aesthetics and simple style of the decor of the dining room. The windows are open on to the terraces and view of the grounds of the spa creating kind of a serene dining experience. When it's warmer you can dine outside as well. For being such an expensive restaurant I appreciate that craft beer in can is still only $6 a pop. I tried some stuff from Santa Fe Brewing that's pretty close by. I also appreciate that for all meals they give you a complimentary bread plate of some kind of sweet corn bread and then another type that's more of a blue corn cornbread with beautifully designed butter. The bread is amazing and slightly sweet. For lunch I went with the Camino Real Combo. Which is a sandwich. I think I was confused over what it was and thought it was a combo platter but really its a stacked sandwich of shaved rib eye, mild italian sausage, onion, sweet peppers, hatch green chile, and asadaro cheese. Accompanied with a side of sweet potato fries. The boy got the Old Tortuga grilled chicken sandwich with applewood bacon, lettuce, tomato, roasted salsa, guacamole, cholula lime aioli. Both were pretty good. Again, ravenous but also each are like $16-18 sandwiches. . . Came back the same day for dinner which apparently I just checked online and they've changed things up and now are only open for breakfast and dinner hours. Which I guess makes sense with us being one of few patrons there for lunch and there's a smaller cafe down the block for very basic lunch needs at a cheaper value. The dinner menu was similar minus sandwiches and more of a focus on quality meats and big dishes. They stupidly add on a fee if you are sharing an appetizer. I've never encountered this in my life. They should definitely do away with that rule. I went with the vegetarian stacked enchiladas partially because it was one of the cheaper items on the menu and adding a protein costs about $10-15 extra. They were really phenomenal and insanely filling. We both got salads as well because health and he got the wagyu flank steak with potatoes and asparagus. Which while I'm assuming was good (someone doesn't like to share) was a considerably smaller portion size for it's almost $40 price tag while mine I had leftovers for the next day. Choose wisely. Decent food overall and from what I can tell a lot of the food is sourced local and organically which explains why most of their chunks of meat are like $40-50. But I would say only treat yourself to coming here once and stick to the cheaper cafe if you're starving.

Been here numerous times and we are never disappointed. Great food. Impeccable service. Wonderful ambiance. We often drive up for lunch but this time we are spending a few nights. Well worth it.

staying at ojo overnight, we arrived mid day, planning to dine at blue heron for lunch and dinner. the difference between lunch and dinner was extreme and after tonight's meal, it will be the last time we dine at blue heron. lunch was nice. our servers name was erick and he was extremely accommodating, polite, and thoughtful. we had chips, salsa, and guacamole for an appetizer and the guac was great, salsa kind of weird. for entrees i had the green chile cheeseburger and my partner the short rib sandwich, pairing with a margarita. both entrees were good and the drinks were great. dinner was an absolute letdown and turned our opinion of this restaurant from somewhere we didn't mind not leaving ojo and driving into santa fe to eat at to somewhere i would personally never visit again. the food wasn't as good as lunch, with the scallop entree being overcooked, sea bass being dry, side dishes being mediocre, dessert bland. all together, not a deal breaker for the convenience of driving 1 minute from our room to the restaurant (hence the 3.5 average star review). what made the night a horrible experience was our server. you can expect no table greeting, empty drinks, no check up after expo runs your food, blunt and aloof responses to when you make a request, and a $200 total due. please don't let the convenience of this restaurant entice you to not go deeper into santa fe for a decent dinner.

Beautiful dinning room. Very calm and relaxing. Service was smooth and professional. I do question the use of Sysco tortilla chips in red and black. Hello? The '90's called and they want their tortilla chips back. Really Chef? It's 2024 you're using this cheap product? The food, but for the colored tortilla chips was very good.

The restaurant is on the grounds of Ojo Santa Fe and the grounds are gorgeous. It's a beautiful setting for an outdoor meal. I had the ojo tortuga which is a chicken sandwich with salsa, guac, aioli and if you eat bacon, also bacon. It was a decent sandwich but the truffle fries were the things that really stole the meal. I probably would have been ok with just a giant plate of fries and hey for a day of relaxation there's no judging! The grilled chicken was done well and not overcooked. They seemed to be severely understaffed, we had arrived near the start of lunch timing so service was pretty slow. If you're on the grounds, it's definitely worth a stop but expect it to be a bit pricey, but that's rather expected if you're out for a spa day.

Limited menu. Had a tasty Spinach salad, the worst ribeye steak I've had in decades & a questionable key lime pie. The steak was tough and had a lot of gristle. Very disappointing! Ordered med rare! Told the waiter who simply replied I'll be sure to let the chef know. I'd skip this disaster next time *

Blue Heron was a nightmare. The hostesses are pulling triple duty every night seating guests, clearing tables, and running food, so we waited 30 mins past our reservation every night. Service was painfully slow as they are severely undersraffed; it took 20 mins to even get water. This is nonfault of the waitstaff, they're doing their best, but they are very underserved. We sat by the window, and our table had ants crawling over it all night. And the food was abysmal. I had the Pasta Pomodoro in Ojo Caliente and it was incredible with fresh sauce and real tomatoes. Had the same dish here, and it is clear that the food here is off the shelf - it legitimately tasted like Chef Boyardee from a can - there wasn't a single tomato in this dish. For a $200 dinner each night, I expected a lot more.

The breakfast in this place was good I don't remember the name of the waffle I ordered but Rosario (our waitress) brought me a plate of delicious flavors! The biscuits in duck gravy were soft and fluffy, the gravy was out of this world! We stayed in Ojo Santa Fe so we had the opportunity to have dinner there too, we ordered hamburgers (pick up) and they were ok. The food was good and the atmosphere of the place was good too but the five stars are for the staff. Rosario, Alex and everyone in general had a positive attitude, super friendly and tried 100% to make us feel welcome and comfortable at all times. Perfect service, thank you!

Honestly, the worst food I have had in awhile. The wait was way toooo long and it was overly priced for the quality. The wait was so long that they offered a free dessert but we were done eating the food there. I had the pork tenderloin, it was overcooked, my Brussel sprouts were hard and my sweet potato, was a plain mashed sweet potato, nothing fancy. My guest's plate was just a bad plate of spaghetti. Since this is the only restaurant available when staying at the resort, I highly recommend getting an appetizer and/or salad.

This was my second time staying at the resort, so we went to Blue Heron for breakfast and lunch. I was a bit bummed the mushroom fritters were no longer on the menu (please bring them back!), but the whipped feta was super tasty and helped me not miss the fritters. The feta+honey+pepita combo sounds weird but was so delish and hit the spot. I also tried the green chili cheeseburger which had a little heat, but was really tasty - the fries that came with it were perfectly crunchy. My friend got the poke and said it was tasty- given she didn't leave a drop behind I think she liked it. And the smoothies are a bit pricey but a refreshing breakfast treat.

Superlative! Simply the most beautiful place to dine I can imagine. We had some lovely wines as well as the ribs and chicken enchiladas. Everything was delightful. The service was attentive and the entire experience was amazing.

I made reservations on open table for breakfast our first morning at the hotel. The restaurant cancelled my reservation after we ate which made no sense. The restaurant was understaffed and underwhelming, the huevos rancheros were undercooked (hard potatoes and undercooked beans no meat). The waitress noticed I only ate the eggs off the top then offered me a smoothie which was kind (only reason this isn't a 1). Pay attention to your final bill, they charged us another amount that wasn't on the initial bill (added chorizo charge randomly).

It's a bit pricey, they were very short-staffed, and the food tries to be fancy but really isn't. I had a chicken sandwich without the bread, and they forgot to put one of the ingredients on the side (it was salsa and I didn't really miss it, but the others at my table who ordered the same sandwich with bread had salsa included). The food was decent, good flavors, but nothing I'd go out of my way for. The outside patio is nice and has a great view of the spa grounds.

This is a nice ambience restaurant located within the Ojo Santa Fe Spa Resort. I ordered takeout to eat outside and get back into the pools as soon as possible. The service was great from ordering to the time it took for the food to be ready. I got the tacos. They weren't to my liking. Nor was the price. But the convenience was unbeatable.

This is a surprisingly nice restaurant located within the Ojo Santa Fe Spa Resort. We had a breakfast, lunch, & dinner here and all meals were excellent. My favorite meal was actually the Ojo BLT I had for lunch. It had exquisite Applewood Smoked Pork Belly, Butter Lettuce, and a fresh local tomato on toasted sourdough bread. My wife had the Ojo Homemade Herb Hummus with grilled pita bread and loved it. For dinner, the Ojo Green Chili Fries were delicious. As an entree, the Bison Bolognaise with Egg Noodles was just fine, but not a taste I'm used to. Overall, this is a great place with both indoor and outdoor dining. Went to the Blue Heron Restaurant a few weeks ago which is part of Ojo Santa Fe Spa and Healing Waters The patio setting is beautiful overlooking a pond, trees, and greenery I had the bison burger which was delicious and cooked to perfection. It has caramelized onions, tomato, and mixed salad greens on it and it was served with fries. You also have the choice of truffle fries which I had never tried before but my friend had them and they were delicious! I would highly recommend Blue Heron Restaurant.

Five plus three divided by two equals four. We visited twice, first for dinner, then breakfast, dinner bordered on spectacular and breakfast was a big service fail, and I bet it was an anomaly, as well as a reflection of the simple reality that finding good help these days, if you're in the service industry, is incredibly difficult. Support it or not, extended unemployment payments are keeping a lot of talent on the couch right now, and me thinks that's exactly what management at Blue Heron is grappling with. I didn't ask. Somebody give these people an oxygen bar! Not only is the property sitting at 7,000 feet of elevation, the lower levels of the picturesque patio here are only accessible via stairs, and if the weather's right, that's where you want to be sitting, taking in the views of cottonwood and fat, lazy koi. You'll likely experience a crisis of class-consciousness when your server wipes sweat from their brow and catches their breath before reciting today's specials. But anyway, on to the food. We were shocked when our appetizer, green chile fries, arrived. Easily ten juicy, battered peppers awaited our jaws, not remotely what my New Mexican appetite anticipated, just lovely. Course numero dos, timed to land immediately following our demolition of the first, was ceviche, astonishing (yes, my standards are low). We wrapped things up with fish tacos, I licked all of my digits, and requested they roll us back to our room. One curious note: the cocktails were wine-based. Understandable for 7K feet, but still, curious. Breakfast was delicious and service completely failed. I usually don't advocate for avocado toast, but order it. Don't get fancy coffee or the red chile bacon. Beware of scavenging ducks.

Food was delicious, ambiance was lovely, small restaurant, I would recommend reservations however that doesn't mean you actually get a reservation...I think they could definitely improve how reservations are handled. I made a reservation when i arrived I was told there would be a wait and to come back around in 20 minutes, I asked if I left and a table became available would I lose my spot (since I saw others waiting) and she said yes (made no sense to me). I wanted to sit outside since its just so beautiful on the patio, I asked if they could send a text or if they had a buzzer to let me know when my table was ready and she said no. So i waited inside the crowded space, a couple that also had reservations decided to leave.

I ate here several times as we were guests at the resort and it was the only sit down option. My first night I ordered the enchiladas and I was majorly disappointed. Like many New Mexican dishes it was served with green chili. I asked for chicken in my enchiladas as this was given as an option from our waiter. I later found that they charged me $10 for chicken which I think is ridiculous! If you do not like spicy food then I would get accustomed to asking for chili on the side as this is a popular staple with many dishes. The tortillas in the enchiladas did not appear to be cooked well and over all I did not like the dish. Later that trip I tried the Lox Bagel and blue corn pancakes. The pancakes were earthier than I like and they were served with some sort of berry sauce. For those who do not like the overly sweetness of pancakes this dish may be for you. The Lox bagel was enjoyable but nothing special. They did serve it with a hearty serving of salmon which I enjoyed. Lastly, the coffee was awful. I was really disappointed in the food here but my friends said that I just had bad luck with my orders because they seemed to enjoy their food.

The ambiance and food selection is superb at the Blue Heron. The menu items are mostly locally sourced or grown on the property. They make many item in house. We had several selection over the weekend my favorite being the Caesar salad and the blueberry muffin French toast. The green Chile burger is the local favorite and won #1 burger contest. We had great service each time except at brunch there Sunday. They stop breakfast service at 10am Sunday and brunch starts at 11am. We had a newer waitress at brunch and with some further training and confidence she should be great. Water service on Sunday could have been a bit better. But I am a water service pet peeve kinda person. I think this is a amazing restaurant and Rocky, Sarah and Ben are doing an amazing job. They began and vegetarian options all plentifully as well as GF items. We can't wait to return.

Get the green chili fries! We stopped for lunch before a private soak and wow. Some of the best food we had on our road trip honeymoon. We ordered the green chili fries for an app and wow. They are incredible. Then I had the green chili buffalo burger and my husband had the BLT. Both some of the best we ever had. Extensive tea menu and beautiful decor. Worth the stop!

We had dinner last night here, as we were staying at the resort. It was mediocre. First, the seating inside was a bit peculiar- the two top had us sitting very far apart, so we turned the table to get a bit closer so we could actually hear each other. For the price we paid and the convenience, I'm not sure it was not worth it. We both had the pork and it was poorly seasoned. The vegetables were nothing memorable and the salad was just fair. The poblano fries were good, however, and that was the best part of the meal. Service was poor - our waitress hardly checked on us, no water refills, no wine refills, barely a peep out of her. At the end of our main course she asked if there was anything else and promptly produced the check - I had to ask for a desert menu and it was pretty blah - so we skipped it anyway. Her tip was a reflection of the service. I would gladly drive to sant Fe for a better meal next time.

Blue Heron was great! It's located hidden away in the outskirts of Santa Fe at the Ojo Resort. We were seated quickly and at a nice table overlooking the hot springs. Parking is easy and there is outside dining available. We both ordered mahi tacos and a glass of wine. Our appetizer was whipped feta with pita bread. Both absolutely delicious. The portions are enough to share, food is very tasteful,service was fast, friendly and I highly recommend trying this restaurant. Cheers!

It's possible our experience was tainted by an outstanding dinner a couple of nights before at Antiquity in Albuquerque, but we were less than impressed. The service was pretty sub-par...if I am spending nearly $50 on a steak, I would expect the server to check on it within 5 minutes of its arrival. I would expect that when my margarita is finished, I would be asked if I would like another or something else to drink. I'm not a picky diner and I don't expect perfection, but fine-dining prices should be accompanied with fine-dining service. We were clearly finished for some time before we had to ask for the check - we weren't even offered dessert. I don't know if they were short staff or if there was some reason for the poor service, but it was not very good. The food was...fine. My buffalo New York strip steak was drowning in the cherry reduction. After scraping off the bulk of it, it complemented the meat pretty well, but the dish was nothing to write home about. My wife's flank steak was, again, fine. Our appetizer was...fine. Hence the three stars. Everything on the plate was just okay. Certainly not bad, but not $140 for two people. It was a $45 meal.

I was so ready to give this place a great rating. The property was beautiful and was showcased by a entire wall of windows looking out onto a lazy river and a picturesque bridge. The menu sounded great as well but unfortunately the food was lacking. Our appetizers were the only saving grace. We had the ceviche which was very authentic and delicious. It came in a giant goblet surrounded by tortilla chips and swimming in lime juice. We devoured most of it but we stopped ourselves to save room for the entrees. This is where those two stars were lost. We ordered the enchiladas and the steak. The steak was disturbingly tender for how overcooked it was and there was also a strange aftertaste. I'm unsure as to the reason, I suspect it was frozen and/or marinated in some sort of tenderizer for too long because flank shouldn't be that soft. Regardless it just wasn't a very good steak. That along with a measly TWO tortillas made that a very unsatisfying meal. The enchilada was just bland. Not much flavor other than the chile leaving me without much motivation to continue eating either dish. It goes without saying that we ended up back at the ceviche. If we had come here for just drinks and apps, I'm sure this review would be scored a lot higher. I give three stars instead of two for the simple reason that I would come back ONLY for the ceviche.

Had dinner last night at the Blue Heron, unfortunately the meal was disappointing. Truffle fries were just alright, the fish tacos were drenched in a really sweet sauce. I had the charcuterie, it consisted of a blue cheese ball that looked very unappetizing and sandwich meat, I'm guessing bologna and ham. Our server was delightful, attentive, and knowledgeable.

Pretty much all Mexican all the time. I literally couldn't find any entree on the menu I could eat. I even asked. Pricey.

The food lacks integrity. The website claims that the restaurant is "incorporating the freshest ingredients from the Ojo Caliente Farm and local Southwest region". This is not at all what my experience was with the Green Chile Bison Burger. It was very obvious that the iceburg lettuce was not farm-fresh or locally-grown, nor was the tomato. The burger bun was soggy and squished, and did not taste like it was baked in-house. The worst part of the experience though was the condiments provided with my take-out order... ketchup and mayo that contained corn syrup and HFCS in the ingredients. They say the devil is in the details. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, I know this is usually a sign that the rest of the ingredients are probably not held to a much higher standard of quality. For a health spa restaurant, I would be ashamed to serve anything that contains High Fructose Corn Syrup, especially when you're charging $20.00 for a burger.

The food , service, atmosphere especially the staff, is wonderful!! Alex, Ana, Tupler were to on their game! The tapas were yummy!! Music was just enough! The New Mexico Wine "Demigod" was surprisingly awesome!!! Come check it out! And props to Diego the security person for escorting us safely to our vehicle.

We were not impressed with the Blue Heron. The food was just "meh." I'm not sure what was home cooked, if anything. It seemed the rice paired with the enchilada was box made. And the whipped feta appetizer was more clumpy than anything. Not worth it. If you are staying on site, bring food in. The restaurant did not match the spa resort at all.

Always sorry to leave this type of review. Tonight we drove to Blue Heron, to enjoy the beautiful evening and dine outside just past sundown. Quite surprised to see no one seated outside so we went to the maitre 'd station. Not enough employees to staff outside, but we could order there and take it down the flight of stairs ourselves. Not ideal, but we went ahead and ordered simple food and drinks. 20+ minutes. After 5 minutes on the patio, the mosquitos were out in force. Up we went. Can we dine inside, instead? No, a firm voice told us. And given some ridiculous non-understandable story on why. We kept our cool and attempted to persuade her. Nope. We informed her unless we could, we'd have to cancel. She "won" the battle. We left very irritated and hungry. Very poor customer service skills. A negative experience, described as kindly as possible. The Managers or Owners have things to work on.

If you are vegan, prepare to be perplexed!!! First the menu (online or paper) does not specify whether VG or V is vegan. When asking servers, you are likely to get different answers from each one, like we did! Let's start with breakfast: SW Tofu Scramble, marked VG. Presumably, this is vegan. If it is not, why would you serve a non vegan tofu scramble? But maybe it has butter...But then again for the Fruit Smoothie, it says V option. Not sure why you would need to specify that a smoothie has a V Option, unless V means vegan (for example to signify that it can be made without dairy milk or honey). Avocado toast: does not specify that it is vegetarian.... Or that it could be made vegan without cheese and eggs. Power toast has VG and clearly has honey- so that's not vegan, right? So is V vegan or VG vegan? Lunch: there is a Quinoa burger that specifies that it has non-dairy cheese and is listed as V so is this vegan? It would be very strange if a sandwich that went out of the way to have non-dairy cheese was in fact not vegan- does the patty have egg? Same for the BBQ jackfruit sandwich- marked V. Is it vegan? Or is there dairy in the slaw, or eggs in the GF bun? Why don't the fajitas have a VG or a V? Why doesn't the Pomodoro have a VG or a V or a V option. Dinner: Trifecta: this is listed as VG. When asked whether the guacamole had dairy in it, the answer was, no. Yet, all of the salads that are listed as VG clearly have cheese. Are these vegetarian, or can they be made vegan by simply holding the cheese? There is a Roasted Vegtable Chili Relleno listed on the paper menu as GF and V option, online it says GF, VG (V option) -- perhaps this is the Rosetta Stone.... Unfortunately, our waiter convinced us that VG was vegan so that this was not an option for us. We were also told the Chili Fries marked V had dairy in the breading, so this would contradict other menu items... Also, some items must be so clearly vegetarian that they are not marked, like Whipped Feta or Herbed Hummus. Can the hummus not be made vegan sans the feta? So shouldn't it have a V Option on the menu. Plant based eater, is your head spinning yet? Perhaps all of this confusion could be remedied by a separate plant-based menu... If you hold yourself out as catering to a plant based diet, please make the process is easier so those of us who don't consume animal products can get the rest and relaxation deserved at a spa rather than having to deal with deciphering a secret code while on vacation. I guess I will never know whether my dinner, breakfast or lunch were or were not vegan... three stars for the ambience and the delicious homemade chips.
