Max and his crew are superb. Their food is wonderful but we really like the wine. Max is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain wine. He listens and makes superb recommendations. I have learned so much and I get some really good wine. Buying wine from a grocery store, box store, or even most liquor stores is a crapshoot, buying from the Blue Hill Wine Shop is a sure thing.

A gem! The folk here know their goodies! Ask them to suggest a good wine, or how to properly brew a green tea, and you will get wise and informed answers. I have loved everything I have bought, wine, cheese, pate, tea, saké, vegetables, bread ... and they also carry most things one would need for the kitchen including lovely arborio rice.

Google
This exceptional shop was the perfect antidote to slow-to-open restaurants on the Blue Hill peninsula. After checking in to the Blue Hill Inn, my wife wandered down the street in search of a place to eat for dinner. She found this wine shop with an exceptional selection of wines with staffers ready to make a recommendation if desired. She returned with a reasonably-priced bottle of red wine, two cheeses, olives, sardines and crackers. We enjoyed these selections on the lawn of the inn and, with an assist from the innkeeper, this was one of the most memorable dinners during our week-long vacation.

Yelp
Unique selection of wines. Decent selection of cheeses - I picked up a delicious dolce gorgonzola cheese.

Yelp
Almost worth a trip to blue hill by itself! Great wine shop - very interesting variety that you can't get anywhere else. Very knowledgeable staff, easily laid out to find things. They also have fresh cheeses which were excellent. I can't say enough good things about it!

Yelp
Heavenly atmosphere , superb wine selection , best cappuccino in Maine and cheese selection from the gods....Max is a true master of his trade. I got a chunk of the Pecorino Crotonese and it was outstanding!

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful. Great assortment of highly selective items from tea to cheese to wine to chocolates to sauces to homemade cookies. Great espresso. And gourmet small sandwiches. Max brings his artistry and depth of knowledge to every aspect of the place. It has a wonderful vibe and great seating outdoors and a nice little bar table indoors. Old gramaphone record, wonderful selections and the most reasonable prices for everything.

Yelp
Best latte in blue hill. It's so cute and they don't I've to go cups so you enjoy it there, and relax. One day we brought our own cups and they thought it was cute, we were in a rush and they're that good!

Yelp
One stop shop for coffee, wine etc. Excellent wine selection curated by Mr Max who knows his trade along with M.A. the owner.

Yelp
I was impressed after my first-time soliciting the store. Large wheels of cheese sit on a counter with a knife laying next to it for generous servings of sample cheese granted by the tall, grey-haired, and very knowledgeable and easy-going man who I assume is part-owner with his wife. Behind him is a chalk board on the wall displaying the many cheeses available and their price per pound. Beyond that is a landscape of assorted wines in a dimly lit, low-temperature room. A tobacco room with cigars shines from the back corner of the wine room. There are sundry cooking ingredients available on shelves as well. I bought the most delicious cheese and made the best pizza with it. I recommend the "Pecorino (for grating)." Buy by the ounce, which, by the way, was at a very reasonable price. I will most assuredly return for more of that wonderful cheese.

Yelp
Was in Blue Hill for a month this summer, and enjoyed this place on many occasions. I've never seen something quite like it--a great wine inventory with a friendly and knowledgeable staff to help you pick your perfect bottle, and also delicious cheeses, breads, and other edibles. I had a great macchiato there several times each week too. Relaxed, casual vibe. You have to stop in!

Yelp
Everything you could ever want in a wine shop Or cheese shop. Or cafe. Brilliant curation on all counts. Great music; turntable a major plus. Someone has insanely good taste in, well, everything (Max!!!), and, best of all, it's not pretentious. No, best of all, Max has a puppy. Oh, well, I just like everything about it.
