Blue Honey Bistro

This is a tiny little restaurant with virtually no ambiance beyond being a storefront. But, don’t let that scare you off. The service is excellent and the food is very good. The four of us were seated quickly for our reserved time and ordered cocktails. Very good job on each of those, with our server also being the bartender. Remember, I said this was a small place. On to salads, two Mixed Green and two beet. Both were very nicely done, especially the whipped goat cheese on the mixed green salad. For entrees, it was again a 2 choices split. Both of the ladies selected Pasta Bolognese with burrata. This was a very nice presentation and very nice dish overall. The men each had the Short Ribs. Personally, I just didn’t feel this dish lived up to its potential in terms of flavor. The roasted brussels sprouts were overdone, the truffle cheese grits didn’t pack the punch that I thought this combination should punch, and the ribs themselves were plentiful (good size helping), but a bit overdone. I really like small independent restaurants and I want this to be a great success for a long time to come. I will likely give it another try in the future but for me the rating is a heavy 3 ½. Because that is not a choice, I mark it as a 4.

The cheese appetizer was delicious. We both got the salmon entree and they were both extremely salty. They were very busy and looked to be short staffed. Had to get waiters attention most of the time when we needed something. Prices compare to any high-end restaurant here town and unfortunately this restaurant isn't worth the cost.

BHB Is hands-down the best restaurant in Germantown and one of the best there is in the entire Memphis area! We had an excellent meal here last night, the food was cooked to perfection (I’ve never had a crispier salmon skin), the atmosphere is so cozy, cocktail program is also the best in Germantown, and the service was very attentive. We had a 3 cheese course and bread service to start, tuna and salmon entrees, fondant cake with the screwball affogato and an espresso martini for dessert. The martini was available in decaf and made with whiskey, not vodka, which to me was so much better than the standard, as this is something I normally don’t drink. I highly recommend and can’t wait to go back! I feel like I finally found the kind of food I’m looking for in Germantown.

Went for brunch and it definitely exceeded all of the good things I have heard about the place. Food and staff were excellent. Definitely will be back!

We had dinner here for the first time during the last week of 2023, and it was a phenomenal experience. The wine and cocktails were great, and the food was top of the line. The bolognese was delicious, and the beef tenderloin and whipped potatoes were richly satisfying. If you was a wonderful dining experience in a smaller environment, give them a try.

This was an amazing 3 course dinner. Their menu changes every week, but the concept remains the same. 3 courses for $65. The restaurant is quite small so I would call ahead for a reservation on weekends. Our server was named Glenn David. He was fantastic and accommodating. He gave great advice on what desert to get and was very attentive and kind throughout our long dinner. Glenn David helped us choose out some great cheeses and some meat for our charcuterie board and all of our courses were a delight.

Hands down one of the greatest restaurants in Memphis! Honestly there is not enough space to talk about how great the food is here. We had the halibut special and it was fabulous! The service is amazing and this is a restaurant not to be missed! Hope, Aaron, Courtney and Drew will give a night to remember!

Lovely owners. Nicely curated wine list. They offer a 3 course meal for $65 that is not prix fixe so a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert. I had a version of French Onion Soup and my husband had mushrooms on toast. Both good but my soup was lukewarm. Entrees were braised short ribs over cheese grits and a pumpkin and shrimp curry. Tasty dishes, especially the short ribs. Desserts chosen were a chocolate fondant cake with vanilla bean gelato. Yummy. The other was a bourbon apple blondie with whipped cream and candied walnuts. Also a great dessert but would have upped its ante if it had been served warm. Will definitely return to try new dishes. Glad to have this little bistro nearby. Our 2022 Valentine's Day dinner was perfection. The restaurant was decorated and so welcoming. The vases of flowers on each table were available for purchase. The menu is included in the photos. Every single bite was delicious. A true culinary experience.

Went in blind, having picked the first search result, and am now counting the hours until I can find an excuse to go back. Phenomenal food and cocktails made to perfection. And lest I forget - service to match!

NO PICS BECAUSE IT WOULD BELITTLE THE EXPERIENCE So this is it: the best restaurant in Germantown. Ok, east Shelby County. Memphis. Midsouth. I'll stop there...for now. A family venture, it feels it through and through. A tiny (tiny!), intimate, warm, canvas for staff, front and back of house, to redefine what cuisine in the Mid-South is and can be. That raison d'etre is served nightly, consistently, without fail. The service is beyond excellent. It's as personal as it gets...anywhere. Go twice and they remember you from the time before. "Welcome back" isn't some vapid platitude; it's genuine. Need a recommendation or want them to tweak something to your preference? Handled, expertly. The pacing is exceptional, the level of attentiveness, as if the boys in the front of the house have black belts in ESP, bespoke by default. Overdue, the chef (and owner, Drew (along with his wife, Courtney)), got a Beard nomination. He's been doing it for years at this little restaurant-that-could that did the unthinkable (survive COVID). The base of each recipe isn't eye-popping (so no: Foie gras! Escargot! Bone marrow!), but what the man can do in a kitchen to a tenderloin puts him and his offerings in rarified air. As for the fair, venture around the menu. It's seasonal, and it'll change. Some that are habitually there, speaking to their perfection: - mushrooms & toast. I don't care if you don't like fungus. This plate is earthy, buttery, sumptuous. Order it. - pan roasted tenderloin. It's tenderloin, yes, so you know what you're getting. What's not clearly apparent is the truffle demi-glacé that exposed me to what truffle can really do. - chocolate fondant cake. Not a huge desert guy, but it's a remarkable blend of earthy chocolate, velvety caramel sweet, punctuated by the crunch of cashews, topped with vanilla (where you can taste the vanilla bean in the cold) gelato. The physical location came into my awareness when I was but a lad who had friends who worked there when it was Jersey Mike's, like 23 years ago. Good time were had as bespoke sandwiches were offered to a post-football practice me at the flat rate of $5 and change (including a 5 pound monster called the 'Nick Special' ). There was a walk-in freezer that they used to disappear into around the 3pm hour with the doors locked, and then Dragonball Z was played on the TV and I would eat while they giggled at anime. Whatever. But at BHB, they took whatever that was and brought it to what many a dining room is made for: functional, warm, simple. A little cramped, but I somehow think this adds to the appeal. Touches here and there indicate the thought and pride put into the operation. Then, I knew happiness. But with the same footprint as BHB now (despite having to actually pay for food), their food, their staff, the atmosphere is an escape into joy before heading back into suburban Memphis.

Another excellent visit here. The atmosphere and food for the Valentine's dinner was exceptional. As usual the service was the perfect balance of keeping us happy and not pestering. We have never been disappointed.

The Blue Honey Bistro is an intimate bistro located inside a strip mall in Germantown, Tennessee. It offers healthy meals while sitting inside a beautiful dining area. If there are no cars out front, you will also have a nice view of grass and trees outside as I did. The music was soft pop music from the 70s and enjoyable. I ordered the Bistro Salad with a grilled chicken breast on the side. Additionally, I had an unsweetened iced tea with a wedge of lemon. The salad was elegantly put together, consisting of mixed lettuces, cherry tomatos, radishes, and carrots. This was tossed with a champagne vingarette. The chicken breast was grilled and oven baked. The salad was fresh and crispy. The vingarette added just the right flavor. The chicken was sliced, meaty, and moist. The outer layer was browned to not only taste good but to add to the appearance. My iced tea was fresh as well, and the glass it was served in added to the beautiful appearance of the meal. My server greeted me as I entered and exited the bistro. She was timely and ensured I didn't need anything extra. She was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I recommend this place if you are in this area. You should be able to have a relaxing dining experience.

My meal was amazing. Do yourself a favor and eat here. It will quickly become your favorite dining out restaurant.

Absolutely delicious and the service was amazing. We had the breakfast sandwich, filet and mushroom omelette. French press coffee was worth the wait. We didn't leave a drop. All were hands down some of the best brunch items we've ever had. We will definitely be back! Recommend reservations, although they've got a small bar that was open for us that day.

Excellent experience. This restaurant is located in a strip mall in Germantown. It's a converted store space, so it's small and intimate; maybe 10 or so tables and a small bar. Service was outstanding. Very attentive server, knowledgeable of menu, and made great recommendations. All the items were thoughtful and well paired. The food was delicious, best beef tenderloin around. Reservations recommended due to the small space. The menu seems to change frequently, so we'll be back soon to try something new.

The food was fantastic, great flavors, reasonable portions, great presentation. Service was also wonderful, a mom and pop vibe, but elegant and upgraded decor! Would definitely recommend, great for a date night or if you're looking for a craft cocktail/great wine.

I came here strictly as a result of Yelp reviews and this did not disappoint. Advises to make reservations as it's a small space (9-10 tables and bar area) but walk-ins are allowed. Pretty and intimate atmosphere makes it ideal for business or lunch with friends. I had the mushroom toast with bistro salad. The champagne vinaigrette was delicious and the mushroom toast (hardly toast as it was a large slice of ciabatta bread) was filling and delicious. My husband had the chicken breast sandwich. Sounds boring but it was a wonderful taste experience with goat cheese, bacon, cucumber and balsamic vinaigrette. This chef is to be commended!

This place was great. Service: our waiter was incredibly helpful explaining wines, food etc. He also made sure we had everything we needed. Ambiance: The restaurant is very small. Maybe 10 tables. Everyone kinda seems a little on top of each other. When they expand, I think things will be much better. Food: food was awesome! They change their menu weekly, but keep a few select items. As we ordered, we trusted our waiter because as i mentioned he was so knowledgeable and helpful. We had a salad, charcuterie, some kind of mushroom appetizer. Then for entrees we had fish and a steak. It was all very delicious. The presentation was great. I would say- I know charcuterie is trendy now, but I wouldn't get this one. Wasn't worth it. Overall- great place! A little pricey but great spot!

We popped in for lunch and wanted something other than the usual go to's during horse show week. Fortunately we were able to get a table because they were booked for lunch. I had the farfalle with grilled chicken and my husband had the grilled lobster sandwich. Both were amazing. The service was great and the atmosphere gorgeous. Will definitely be returning!

This place is definitely a keeper. The mushroom toast was the best appetizer I ever had. We also had the Halibut which was off the chart. The restaurant was small and intimate. The service was top notch and personal.

Blue Honey Bistro hosted our monthly dinner of the Memphis Wine & Food Society on April 17. The chef and staff did an outstanding job. Our multi-course meal was delicious, beautifully plated, promptly served - hot - and featured perfectly sized portions. Kudos to the Bryans and staff for a lovely evening. Gary Burhop

This restaurant is really nice! Service was great and the tilefish was amazing. My grandson was a little disappointed that the sweet potato steak was no longer on the menu but he said the vegetarian entree was good. We also had the cheese appetizer which was excellent.

Have dined at Blue Honey twice in the past month. It did not disappoint. From the service received, the presentation and the delicious chef inspired dishes - we thoroughly enjoyed the experiences. It's a very small dining room but it shares an enjoyable atmosphere.

This place is hands down my favorite germantown restaurant. It is very small, so be sure to make reservations. I recommend the mushroom toast, and the rigatoni bolognese with burrata. Honestly, everything I've tried is excellent. They've recently opened for brunch, and I've seen the menu, so that will be my next outing. I can say, they make an excellent Bloody Mary, using a habanero bitters that really makes it amazing!

this is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in the Memphis area. a small, family-owned bistro with a tidy menu of delightful foods. My wife and I dine here as often as we possibly can, and we're always served with a warm smile. it's high-end, but also down to earth. strongly, strongly recommend for anyone looking for a top shelf meal beyond the restaurant chains.

The mushroom toast might be the best thing I've ever eaten. The kale Caesar and pasta bolognese was also delicious. Two friends got the chicken and they were so thin and crispy. I already can't wait to go back.

Service was great! Dessert was amazing and appetizers were 10/10. The noodles weren't amazing but tofu was crispy. They fresh brew sweet iced tea upon request and their cocktails were yummy. I would 100% go back to this place!

I have pondered over this review for a couple of weeks now... the other reviews are so good... My wife and I have both been wanting to dine here for some time. We were really excited to have dinner here. We arrived for a late dinner (we reserved) and are sat at the small two top table next to the window right by the door. It was really wobbly and uneven. It had been wedged against the wall to keep it from being completely unstable. I dropped my fork on the floor and it took an unfortunate bounce. I had to scoot the table out to get it and that's when everything almost fell off of the table. The wall was scarred from the table being repeatedly shoved into it for stability. I would expect this from an Applebee's or the like but this place portrays itself as "fine dining". To make it worse at about 20:00 the lights from the shopping center come on we are basked in the the putrid orange lights from the outside. Look at my pics and you can see the change from the cheese plate to the entrees. Charity had done the research on the cheese plate before we arrived and ordered it for us. I didn't know what we were getting. It arrives and the teenage girl that brings it starts to describe what we have and she gets to the last meat and says "I don't know what it is, I forget, sorry" and then walks away. Really?? There are four things!?!?! I have no idea what it cost but there were may more condiments and crostini than any meat or cheese. There was maybe an ounce of meat total. It was pretty good but it seemed like the balance of everything was off. Oh well... next I was really excited about the French Onion soup. It is one of my favorites and I order it almost every time I see it on a menu. It arrives and is all cute in its little crock. I dig in and immediately I'm disappointed. It may be the worst I've ever had. It had zero "beefy flavor" and really was lacking all around. I think they put the thin crostini in it as the bread. They just dissolved and and didn't add anything at all. I was really disappointed in my onion water and just pushed it away after a few bites. I ordered the Beef Tenderloin off of the regular menu and Charity ordered the Wagyu Tenderloin special. I wasn't fully convinced it would be Wagyu honestly so I avoided it. Entrees arrive and another disappointment for me. My steak was cooked perfectly but lacked in every other way. It was under seasoned and didn't have that nice herb butter on it that I have seen in others pictures. I didn't see any butter or sauce. My potatoes were terrible, no other way to describe them. I never salt my food and I had to reach for the salt shaker multiple times to attempt to make them better but even that didn't work. Charity's potatoes on the other hand were great!!! She really enjoyed her steak as well. It tried them both and they were leaps and bounds better than mine. The sauce that came with hers was really good and helped the steak immensely. All in all I was pretty disappointed. The teenage servers did ok but they lack the professionalism I would expect in a place like this. I wanted a great experience, I expected a whole lot better of a meal, but it just wasn't meant to be I guess. The table next to us appeared to have the owner as their server. She was great as I eavesdropped while she was talking to them. She never spoke to us at our little orange wobbly table. We passed on dessert even though the table next to us recommended what they had. I had enough disappointment for one evening. We will have to really think hard about coming back again!

Absolutely amazing! We had a fantastic dinner last night. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. We did the 3 course meal. Started with Mushroom & Toast (hearty, rich, and so flavorful) and the Charcuterie & Cheese. We let the restaurant select our cheeses and meat - completely satisfied and so good with jam, fruit, honey, mustards! Then the entrees: Tuna Tataki and a special pan-seared Flounder. Both were incredible. We were so full that we took our desserts to go! Can't wait to return.

Went to Blue Honey last night for the first time. The staff was incredibly attentive throughout the whole meal. The food was exceptional from the mushroom toast to the koren bowl and chicken dish. The apple crisp dessert was amazing. This is a great place and you couldn't get a better meal anywhere close by.

It took awhile to stop by mainly thinking of pricy for a shopping center. Wish I had come in earlier. Wife and I shared apps of mushroom toast that was amazing. Incredible flavors and very generous serving and the charcuterie board with a nice range of cheeses. Entrees were tuna with soba noodles and black truffle...again great flavors and very different from what is available nearby. My wife had the pan seared sea bass that was exception. Screwball affogotto very different and would do again and enjoy. Chocolate fondant cake was good as well. Will definitely be back as well as bring our own wine (small corkage fee)

An unassuming restaurant in a sort of strip mall off of Poplar and Forest Hill Irene, you'll find one of the best fine dining establishments in the Memphis area. The seating is limited, so be sure to make reservations, although not required. My wife and I went there for my belated birthday (7/23), much because it was close to where we live in Germantown. We both started with an appetizer. She chose a salad, and I one of their notes items, Mushroom Cheese Toast. My wife said her salad was wonderful and fresh until she tried a bite of my cheese toast! OMG! She said I will have to get that next time! Needless to say, at this point we were happy to be there. Next we each had a bowl of "French Onion Soup". Here's where, although it was very tasty, we ran of the rails a little. Apparently, theirs is made with vegetable stock and has no wine in it. As I said before, it was tasty but I think I'll pass the next time. For our entrees, my wife had the halibut and I had the Wagu Beef tenderloin. It came with a wonderful glaze and cheesy mashed potatoes. My wife was stealing my potatoes to eat with her fish! Over all, one of the best dining experiences we've had in the Memphis/Germantown area. If you happen to make it by this wonderful eating establishment, ask for Glen David as you waiter. We've never been waited on so marvelously and patiently.

My wife is gluten-free it's one of the few restaurants we can go to. It's Qwaint and intimate. Very nice setting for a date night. We've also gone there to lunch several times. We've never been disappointed. They also have good cocktails.

Beautiful little spot. Small, nice, modern decor. Wait staff was very friendly. I was very excited about my meal here. I asked for a recommendation from the waitress. She highly recommended the scallops and lobster. This scallops were delicious. They were nicely seasoned and very fresh. However, the dish did not work for me. The scallops were served on a bed of brown rice, lentils, and sautéed vegetables. The veggies were over cooked and the broth base was tasteless. With a glass of wine and tip, I spent over $60. I am ok splurging on a nice meal, but the waitress was so enthusiastic about the recommendation I expected a really delicious meal. This was a let down. Ratings for this restaurant are very good on Yelp. Accordingly, I would not tell you not to try it... But if you like flavorful food I would steer you away from the scallops with brown butter....

The service was really good. They were great about accommodating food allergies. We had the filet mignon and the salmon. Both were perfectly cooked and fabulous. The only negative is that the vegetables for both dishes were heavily salted. Otherwise it was a fantastic meal

My sister in law and I went here for a post-Thanksgiving meal. We're both from out of town and were so pleased to find this little gem! The owner made our cocktails - I had the most amazing Pear/Lavender concoction that was a perfect compliment to the salmon dinner entre. The salads were also delicious... creative ingredients and strong flavor! Overall - it was a wonderful night made better by great food & people.

I had mushroom and toast with gruyere cheese, caramelized onion, bacon and poached egg. Very fresh, a good portion for appetizer that served me as a light dinner. Highly recommend! And very friendly staff!

We actually ended up there at the last moment and sat at the bar to eat. The food was fantastic as was the service we received. We definitely will be back.

Om a last minute dining decision, I called Blue Honey. Aaron was able to slide us in, just so happen, at 5. I called at like 4:20. I could tell from his voice that the place would be great. You know how some people just exude a joy about where they work through the phone. Bu chance, Aaron was also our waiter. This place is phenomenal! The service is fantastic. I had the Pan Seared Black Cod with a Goat Cheese Risotto, which is indeed one of the best dishes I have had this year. My wife had Tiger Prawns, which were good as well. Now, THIS DESSERT - A chocolate fondant cake with marshmallow fluff, caramel and candied peanuts and a vanilla bean gelato - there are no words to describe that other than magical. We ordered a 2nd one!! I eat often out. And I have great memories of outstanding desserts. This dessert will rank as one of the best desserts of my life. Such a hidden gem in this city!!! The best lunch spot ever. I haven't been for dinner yet but i bet its amazing. And their cocktail menu.... awesome!!! It is a very quaint spot. Very cozy and cute. Food is UNBELIEVABLE! Amazing!! The Three cheese quiche is the best I have ever had in my life. And mushroom toast will change your life and don't even get me started on the everything salad with grilled chicken. Yum times a million. Only tip I have for you is go now. And make a reservation! Seating is limited.

Amazing and unexpected gem found in Collierville. Locally owned, the husband is the chef, the wife runs the restaurant and they are killing it! The fish was cooked to perfection, buttery, soft and crispy in all the right amounts. The owner came and spoke with us about the meal, and made us feel like we were at a private tasting event. Great wine pairing recommendations. I went in with lower expectations because it was not a stand alone location, but wow! They really knocked the cover off the ball on our meal

Chef Drew always has an amazing menu. This place is small so make sure you have a reservation. I suggest trying the braised Lasagna or mushroom toast as an app. There menu is always fresh

You have to try the cheesy mushroom bread appetizer. Soooooooooooooo good! Tenderloin is A-MAZING too! We ate there on a Monday night, so we didn't need a reservation. It's a small place, so I'd recommend a reservation most nights. The server was really professional and on top of his game. Nice touches like a chilled salad fork with the salad too! Right now they only serve beer, but you can bring your own bottle of wine. No fee for them to serve it for you, and they have nice stemware they provide. They hope to have their liquor license at some point to serve cocktails and wine. Decor is really cute, and nice attention to detail. We'll be back!

Perfectly cooked sea bass! Delicious combination with the black lentils and shallot cream! I could eat this everyday. Thanks to the chef, your work is great. The salmon can be cooked any way you like from raw sashimi style to well done. The vegetarian sweet potato was also a winner. New York strip was tender and juicy and absolutely delicious with the truffle butter topping and mashed potatoes.

Amazing service. Waitstaff and kitchen were very accommodating to me and my sister's food allergies. They took so much care to avoid cross contamination but also ensure that we were able to enjoy our meals with peace of mind. Food was delicious. We had the charcuterie board which was divine. I had the mushroom toast which was delicious. They even put it on gluten free toast because of my allergy. My family all enjoyed their dishes as well. No one had any complaints.

This is a very quaint, tiny little restaurant, so make a reservation or eat at the bar (where you have a little more elbow room). I so would have given this very cute bistro 5 stars, if it weren't for the charcuterie plate. Being a very warm summer evening, I started with a very refreshing glass of their sparkling rose'. I was dining with a friend who suggested the charcuterie plate to start, which usually is a great sell for me. Not so much at this spot. The plate was lacking in flavor and presentation. The crostini were a little over done (crumbly-crunchy), the pickles were just regular dill spears. The prosciutto and sopressata were very good and the mustards were great (Spicy Dijon was fab!), but I'm just not a fan of mortadella and (not dry) salami, which were the other two options. For dinner, I switched to the Recuerdo Malbec, which was very tasty. for my entrée I ordered the pork porterhouse. This pork porterhouse was perfectly prepared - moist, not solid white ("medium") and so delish! Grits are grits, but these were seasoned well. The wild mushrooms were so tender and flavorful. The menu said it was topped with red onion and bacon jam, but I did not find any hint of those flavors. I was so full that I didn't even finish my porterhouse (shameful, I know), but my dining companion insisted I have a scoop of ice cream while he had dessert. Fine, a scoop of vanilla it is - but what a scoop! Creamy, not too sweet vanilla bean ice cream - I'm very glad I ordered it!

Amazing food and service! My favorite part of the meal was the affogato. We went for our anniversary and it felt very special.
