"Dining choices are plentiful these days in Downtown, but stopping in at the Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails is an easy decision. A part of the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix, the location combines a local feel with a selection probably not found at a typical neighborhood joint. Snack on the pao de queijo, a light Brazilian cheese bread, spread with espelette butter or the Holey Moley flatbread dotted with elk jalapeno sausage. And for something truly spectacular, order the Net of the Sea, which is exactly what it sounds like, made out of puff pastry and stuffed with just about every seafood." - Asonta Benetti

Had a quality old fashioned for which I was overcharged . The menu said it was $16 and but the bill said it was $22. When I questioned it, the waitress said she assumed I meant the "house" old fashioned rather than the one (and only one) that appears on the menu. That was a first for me, but the waitress changed the bill without much fuss so the problem was solved. The drink was excellent and I had a very good meal - prime rib dip with some tasty fries. Overall I liked the place and would recommend.

The atmosphere is spectacular! It was quiet when I was there on a Saturday around noon. The bartender was attentive and friendly. Had the tomato soup and its creamy and delicious! The Hapthia hype was a wonderful compliment to the soup! Orange and flavorful. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!

This was a good restaurant with several tasty options. I opted for the soup of the day, which was great, and the salmon. The salmon was cooked just right and was delicious. One of my friends had the coffee encrusted NY Strip and it was outstanding and definitely recommended. It is within walking distance of many of the downtown hotels.

The Blue Hound is located inside the Kimpton Palomar Hotel in downtown Phoenix. Aixa and I were celebrating our 34-year anniversary and decided to skip the Capital Grille and check out more of a local flavor in the city. Angelica who is the maitre d of the hotel secured our reservation for 8:30 p.m. Take a look at the pictures we posted. Upon entering the restaurant you'll notice beautiful bookcases and an amazing bar shelf with the huge assortment of brands ranging from tequila to whiskey to vodka. Our server Ambro did an amazing job taking care of our needs throughout the evening. She suggested that we start with the appetizer of either the bacon wrapped dates or the bruschetta shrimp so we decided to go with both of them. You can see here in some of the pictures. Because we have been drinking a little bit earlier that evening we decided to skip alcohol and went right to the main course. Aixa got the prime rib dip which she told me was absolutely incredible! She recommends ordering it when you get there. I decided to go with the blue hound burger which sounds pretty basic but it was a whole another level. It had a slab of pork belly which may sound gross to some people but it's just a super thick slice of delicious bacon. It had an aioli sauce which was to die for and it was topped with some of the most indescribably delicious ground beef I've tasted. The arugula on top gave it the perfect combination of salty peppering and fresh. I had the opportunity to meet the chef, and as those who follow me know that I'm a pretty big guy, chef Gilbert Laurie is even bigger. Full of life and excitement, he told me he's happy to be in Phoenix and excited to roll out his new menu. We decided to go with the chocolate bread pudding, but as a nice gesture they compt us to celebrate our 34 year anniversary. If you ever decide to take the leap and visit Blue hound, tell them that Hank and the Cuban Queen AIXA suggested the place. If you enjoy it, post your review and share it with us. We love to hear more!

Visited Blue hound on a Wednesday afternoon for a business lunch around 2pm. Food: my coworker thoroughly enjoyed his roast beef sandwich (he said it was “amazing”), and my salmon and potato hash was very fresh. Although it could’ve used more moisture, due to the potatoes. Felt like it was missing something. The kale and nut salad was tasty, although slightly overdressed. Our appetizer, the calamari, was very lightly breaded, with two great tasting sauces. Keep in mind, the appetizer portions seem on the smaller side. The waitress also mentioned that they have a new chef so some of the menu items have changed lately. Overall, their menu has 15 or less items. Would return to try something else, if I was in the area. Service: We waited in the lobby for awhile without being greeted, and actually thought they were closed at first. After walking around, a waitress spotted us, and we were seated. I would recommend to the staff to put a “seat yourself” sign up if they are going to leave the front unattended for that long. The waitress was friendly enough, but seemed to be in a big rush the entire time, which was off putting, considering there was only one other table of people in the entire restaurant. Everything else: Despite the bad first impression, the decor was very well put together. Also, the restaurant is on a second floor so you have a nice view of the surrounding area. Overall: 3.8 out of 5.

Google
This review is based on the cocktails and bar service as I only had drinks. Good service,I had the joker which I recommend if you're looking for a citrus drink, the blue hound old fashion was great as well as the atmosphere! Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a dark spirit drink, I have yet to try their food so I'll come back another day to try out their food menu and continue experimenting with their drinks, I heard they have a winter cocktail menu coming December so if you're around definitely give it a try!

We were meeting a friend for brunch and this place was fairly central for everyone. We weren't super hungry and that made the portion sizes pretty perfect. He has the Downtown Bene, I had the Egg White Frittata and our friend had the Belgian Waffles. There was nothing left over and it was all so delicious. It was a relaxed atmosphere and a very good choice for catching up with a friend.

It was convenient since we were staying at the hotel. But, it’s not a place that we would go out of our way, to dine at. The cocktails were ok drinkable but, nothing special. I had Curiously Quenching—which was very cucumber forward. My husband actually thought his second drink(el Diablo) tasted like how fabulouso the cleaning agent, smells. So, he won’t be ordering drinks there again. Lol. But, his old fashioned was fine. The food was good. My favorite thing was the appetizer Pao de queijo. That cheesy bread was yummy. For entrees my husband had steak & frites. The fries were the best part. I ordered the grilled chicken Al pastor. Which didn’t taste like Al pastor but, was prepared well. The sides were a bit boring and I didn’t eat much of them. It’s definitely a decent place to go, if you’re close by but, I wouldn’t expect anything special. Just Decent food, & decent service.

Yelp
I've had a lot of meals on Phoenix over the years, this is, hands down, is the best that I've had. The coffee encrusted steak and the blackened salmon are simply exquisite. The Art of Choke drink is possibly the perfect accompaniment to both dinners. Complex, intriguing, and unique. Simply fantastic. I recommend the Kiwi to Life is Happiness as a finisher drink. It's sweetness is just strong enough to be considered a drink without being overpowering. The meat perfect dessert drink.

Yelp
Family and I wanted this location on Saturday, June 1 for early lunch. The parking can be a little hectic so you can either use the parking garage and or street parking. Upon entering, the restaurant is attached inside of the hotel called the Kimpton. The decor and scenery is very beautiful inside the hotel and the restaurant. We noticed it was not very busy at all only a few people at the bar and our table and the bartender was also our waitress and she was very kind and attentive. Additional staff come in for rush. We were able to ask her questions and she provided us answer accordingly and we placed start order and our staffing was very friendly and attentive, and our food was delicious . We ordered two of their hamburgers with fries and chicken sandwich with fries and everything was absolutely delicious . We were told that they were breaking back their brunch menu for Saturday and Sunday as well, which we would love to try one day. Tip the sandwiches are more affordable, but the dinners are a little pricey, but you do get more bang for your buck for the sandwiches cause it's very filling. We also were able to look around the downstairs of the hotel because it's right outside of the restaurant and it's very beautiful. Are a lot of other restaurants in the area and shops that you could be able to walk around as well to view.

Yelp
Jalisco Poppin and Division Bell cocktails were excellent. The short rib special was sublime. The French dip sandwich was nothing special and the side salad that came with the sandwich was a strange mix of uncomplimentary ingredients and flavors. I love all kinds of salads but this was the first time I have ever abandoned a salad after just 2 bites. The bread pudding with delectable slivers of crispy orange peel was nice, until I bit into a sliver of garlic that somehow mad its way onto the dessert. I saw it first and thought it was a slivered almond until I bit into it. Garlic it pretty unmistakable. Made the reservation under Open Table for a birthday occasion. We came early and gave the name on reservation. There was no mention of a birthday and then we got a no-show notice from Open Table when we got home. I tried calling several times to get the no show corrected, but no one ever answered the phone.

Yelp
Love the craft cocktails! The ambiance is dark and mooody. This place would make a fun date night. The staff seem to really enjoy working here.

Yelp
Casual dining in downtown PHX. Nice place, good food. They have a hotel attached too. They have valet parking as well or park in the garage

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Food: we ordered the mole quesadilla and it tasted like a frozen pizza. It wasn't very tasty and definitely not worth $21. I really wish it had been more thin of crust and tasted fresh Drinks: My friend ordered The Joker and it was amazing!! I ordered the Infante Ambiance and it honestly just tasted like a Minute Maid lemonade Service: Julius is the only reason I gave more than one star. He was very friendly and was doing great managing the crowd he had. Ambiance: laid back vibes but for the value I probably wouldn't come back

Devin M.

Yelp
I am religious about Houston's having the best dip in the country. Until today. I ordered the dip from blue hound and it blows Houston's dip out of the water. The bread is toasted to perfection, the onions grilled and tossed in the horseradish cream. They use pepper jack cheese which I kind of almost changed and asked for Swiss but good thing I didn't. The prime rib? Perfectly more rare than medium. I mean I was shook, but it didn't end there. I took a bite out of one of the beer battered fries and the experience was knee slapping. The ambiance here is awesome. You feel like you're in a classy throw back restaurant. And the service was spot on. Well done. I don't give out 5's often. This was a 5 star meal to a tee.

Yelp
We had the BHKC Burger, Bucatini Pasta, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Waguy Sliders, Margarita, Martinis, and more... Genie was the server and was blessing after a horrible pre-plan dinner experience around the corner... The backup plan became the primary plan and didn't disappoint!!! That's what I get for branching out my comfort zone!!! :-)

Carlyn R.

Yelp
We are in town for a volleyball tournament, staying at the Kimpton.... So nice to have a great restaurant in our hotel, the Blue Hound food is great, the staff and manager are so friendly- I caught the kitchen right at closing, I was tired and very hungry from a long day, without all the details, they hand delivered my burger to my room without me even asking, customer service is so hard to be impressed with these days, this was above and beyond as I could've simply been turned away since they were closing the kitchen . Thank you for going above and beyond, it really stood out ( and the burger was awesome) - look forward to being back next year !!!

Victor A.

Yelp
This ever-changing menu never disappointed me. I have been there three times visiting Arizona . I will tell you this. The service is decent wouldn't give it five stars for sure, but the food makes up for it! The ambience in this place is casual fine dining really hip place. If you go on a Friday night full of business, people executives and your upper middle class kind of vibe music is good. I really have to say I enjoy going to blue hound. I got to meet the head chef in the elevator on the way up from the parking structure and he was an amazing individual. I have to say he was very kind and let us know we'd love the food and I told him I've been here before and it's been great

Julie J.

Yelp
Fabulous restaurant!! We were pleasantly surprised! Delicious and creative. Great service too

Yelp
Blue Hound used to be one of the hippest, upscale downtown spots but for a few years it languished with lack of culinary imagination. Under the current creative kitchen guidance, it's BACK! We popped in for an early Sunday dinner after a Phoenix Mercury game. We had the run of the house for seating and the wait staff were all helpful and attentive. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine (our server let us sample a few to help us choose - always a plus in my book!) with their yummy baby wedge salad. We followed that up with the show-stopping "Net of the Sea. WOW! A fantastic mix of seafood, crispy kale and seaweed salad - MORE than enough to share and then some! We will be back!

Benjamin F.

Yelp
We walked in and immediately greeted with a warm smile. We had reservations and were seated very quickly. The bar area was rented out for an event I believe so they apologized right away for the noise which was considerate. The server was super friendly and welcoming. I couldn't catch his name because of the noise. He asked right off the cusp about food allergies which was nice because my partner has a dairy sensitivity so usually tries to stay away. We started with the holy moly flatbread which was good! Wish it came with a house hot sauce! They were very accommodating and made half with no cheese! We started for drinks with The Criminal which was good, very strong and Smokey! We got the ribeye which was absolutely delicious! It was cooked perfectly! Really good texture and the chimichurri was yummm! We got the mushroom and Brussels as sides and both were good choices! I would definitely recommend this place!

Paula D.

Yelp
It was average. Our original choice was an hour wait. So we ended up at The Blue Hound. Nothing on the menu looked appealing, so I went with the wedge salad. Dressing stated bland. Also ordered the BHKC 900 Hot Stone. Meat was over salted. Drinks were mediocre. We've had better.

Alexx R.

Yelp
Blue Hound is located at the Palomar Hotel, which was nice. Overall decent experience at Blue Hound. Nothing was bad but nothing was out of the world either. I should probably also add that breakfast food isn't my favorite either. I didn't order lunch since to me their lunch options were very limited. I ordered a Bloody Mary, which I really enjoyed. If you don't like spice might not be the Bloody Mary for you. The Downtown Bene was good, the hollandaise had a good spice to it. (one of the poached eggs was already broke when they brought it out but hey happens) Breakfast potatoes were seasoned well. Like I said not a bad meal.

Denise M.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times and have enjoyed our meal each time. I love a wedge salad, and the one at Blue Hound is soooo Good (and huge). The star is the burger, made with four kinds of meat---outstanding!

Erica E.

Yelp
This place was fantastic, Nick our server was awesome, super helpful with recommending drinks and food items. Everything was efficient and clean everyone friendly and the whole vibe was just fantastic! Will definitely be back!

Ethan B.

Yelp
Had a happy hour social event here with clients. The bartenders were great, very attentive, and made some killer drinks. The apps they had laid out were awesome. They had a truffled deviled egg - omg wow. Great vibes, nice outside patio. Would definitely go here again!

Sheila S.

Yelp
This place was a quick meal before the Phoenix Sun game. We didn't want a big meal so I got tomato soup and a side of asparagus. The tomato soup was excellent but the asparagus was not great. We enjoyed drinks and the atmosphere.

Shauntina S.

Yelp
This place was great overall- I have the orange glaze shrimp which were HUGE and absolutely delicious. Service was great and everyone checked on us throughout our meal and didn't seem to mind that we stayed after paying our tab as we were friends catching up after years of not seeing each other. The ambiance of the place is fun and upbeat- the music was pretty loud if you're in the middle of the space, so talking was a challenge sitting across the table from one another.

Gillian G.

Yelp
My mom was staying at the Kimpton for the weekend and we had breakfast here on Sunday. It wasn't busy at all. Service was decent. My egg breakfast was a good value, especially with 4 chicken sausages! The potatoes were over salted and my mom said she didn't care for the coffee. I do recommend for breakfast, if you are staying nearby.

Yelp
The Blue Hound Review Went during a holiday weekend and my birthday dinner on Nov 23 No wait Interesting menu choices. Excited to try the fire roasted apple & fig and the papas bravas Drinks came quick Other patrons came and they were quickly attended to. Food came out quickly and flavors on the fig was great. Deep layers and good cheese. Flavors worked really well For the patata bravas it was good sprinkle of flavor. The wife dipped the patatas in the fig and it was great. Next was the entree course we ordered the sea bass and BHKC. Cilantro crusted Chilean sea bass Sea bass had good taste and was flakey. Delicate cooking was applied and the quality in consistency was apparent. The sauce had a great zest and the perfect level of acidity. The broccolini were cooked to a great temperate and was not soggy or burned. BHKC Burger Patty has complex flavor and the bread had a great crunch to it. One of the better burgers we have had. Our server came to offer us water with great timing. We got an extra order of a side of Parmesan truffle fries. The fries were not heavy and they remained the star throughout the experience. The lemon aioli complimented the senses rather than overwhelm as would some places. Humble foods treated with respect Pricing is fair and you get a great flavors, experience, and service. Thank you for a memorable birthday experience. Our server remembered and gave me a free beer. The moment felt special and we will be back with a friend when we come see Adam Sandlers show on Dec 11. ***Wasnt able to make it for Dec 11 since it was packed. Will return in the future***

Kelly L.

Yelp
Ordered breakfast here this morning. Would have given it a 5/5 but we had to call 6 times (once to front desk) and two different numbers to finally get through to someone to place our pickup order. Automatic machine said they open at 11, front desk worker/website said they're open 6:30-10:30 for breakfast and forwarded our call and still couldn't get through. Took a lot of effort to finally get through to place our order, hope the hotel figures this out. Food review -ordered the farmers breakfast and lemon ricotta pancakes -good portions, tasty breakfast -friendly workers during our pickup

Pete M.

Yelp
First I have to say finding this place was a little weird. Had to walk through a hotel lobby and use the elevator with people staying at the hotel to even get to the entrance to the restaurant. Once inside, we were significantly early for our reservation but they had no problem seating us. The wait staff was friendly and helpful and willing to answer any questions. The setup was quaint but spread out so we weren't on top of our neighbors and could talk comfortably. The volume of the restaurant was very toned down and nice. The menu wasn't quite what we were looking for. According to Yelp and a few other apps, this place was listed as 2-3 dollar signs. When looking at the menu and seeing that a burger was the cheapest thing on the menu at $25 it was kind of surprising. I ordered the filet mignon as it was the only thing I was interested in at the time. My girlfriend ordered the net of the sea. The filet was cooked well and had good flavor but I recommend skipping the blueberry bbq sauce. The net of the sea was interesting but in our opinion way over priced. The "bowl" on the plate was made from phyllo pastry was was made to look like a net. Interesting. The portion sizes of lobster were jokingly small and insignificant. There were only 2 muscles in the plate then several pieces of octopus. Majority of the plate was the chard and the kale. The drinks were ok but not very impressive. I had the old fashioned and there was no hints of citrus from the orange peel. I'm thinking they were old peels. I figured I'd give it a second chance but this time the bartender didn't even bother to put the cherries. This was a good experience to say I've eaten there but it's not a place I'd likely return to or recommend

Patrick P.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our dinner, Holey Miley flatbread had tremendous flavor, highly recommend. Papas bravas were yummy as were our main courses (steak frites and the salmon with the corn purée) drinks were good and service was excellent.

Sandra B.

Yelp
Great vibe, great staff, amazing food and drinks Went on a Wednesday night with a few friends. Had a full bar with great mixed drink selection. I also got the apple and fig appetizer. It was so so good. Definately would come back again. Initially it was a little confusing on where the place was located, but found a map by the elevator. (It's on the 2nd floor)

Denise M.

Yelp
We've been here and enjoyed it a few times. The ambiance is great for a date night. I love a wedge salad and theirs is huge and sooo good. Try the burgers made of four types of meat (can't remember the name)--you won't be sorry because it's amazing,!

Michelle M.

Yelp
Arrived to Phoenix on an early flight, and my hotel room wasn't ready, so off to breakfast we went. Stumbled upon Blue Hound after driving around for a bit and checking Yelp for nearby places. Fellow yelpers, your reviews did not disappoint, our breakfast was delish! My husband and I shared the breakfast burrito, fruit, and toast. Everything was really tasty. The only reason I am removing 1 star is due to the slow service. The servers are really nice, but they are super short staffed. Either way, if I end up in the neighborhood again, I will for sure dine at Blue Hound.

Krystal T.

Yelp
I'm not going to lie I didn't have extremely high expectations going into dinner at the Blue Hound, but wow was I blown away! The food was cooked to perfection. From the apple & fig Brie (we literally scraped the bowl savoring every ounce of cheese we could get), to the goat cheese and beet salad (refreshing and elevated), the light and airy sea bass, to the mouth watering Brussel sprouts. I cannot get over how good everything was. The cocktails were fantastic and the service was exceptional (being nice goes a long way people)! I have already booked another reservation and will be heading back next month!

John L.

Yelp
If you have tattoos and are not white they will tell you to leave. We walked in to have a drink while we were waiting for our table at Arrogant Butcher and they said our bar tenders are backed up with ten people in the bar and couldn't seat us.

Kelsey W.

Yelp
Wonderful meal at Blue Hound! As a new gluten-free girly, I was ECSTATIC to see they offered Brazilian cheese bread here (pão de queijo) and they were sooooo delicious and hot out of the oven. The cocktails were so creative and thirst-quenching, and the steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly! We loved the service and the restaurant was so sleek and stylish with great views of downtown.

Travis T.

Yelp
Blue Hound is located in the heart of downtown Phoenix at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix at CityScape. They are a kitchen/lounge that serves New American inspired food and handcrafted cocktails. The cocktail menu has a nice selection to choose from with specialty drinks changing often with the seasons. I've been to the Lustre rooftop bar on the third floor and was excited to check this place out. The restaurant is quite spacious and has a nice ambiance to it when you first walk in. I especially love the lobby area. We came here during the holidays and reserved one of their rooftop igloos that they had set up for the winter season. The igloos were warm and had a turntable in it with a collection of old Christmas vinyl records to choose from. We ordered a variety of drinks and food from their specialty menu. Even though our server was a little overwhelmed with having to run back-in-forth from inside to outside, we had a nice time. The views of the city and the nearby ice skating rink really made the evening festive for us. I'll check this place out again on a normal night sometime. In addition to lunch and dinner, Blue Hound serves weekday breakfast and brunch on the weekends. There is also live music in the lobby on occasions.

Ashley D.

Yelp
Great spot downstairs in the hotel to grab one last drink before bed! Wonderful night so option

Michelle T.

Yelp
What a great little spot connected to Kimpton Hotels - very cool laidback vibe. Has lots of seating areas, with leather couches, round tables with chairs, oversize chairs with tables in-between, a long communal bar and plenty of seats at the bar itself. We went to take a look at the Happy Hour menu before it started and the bartender there was so nice and gave us lots of info. about the food/drink specials. The food, drink and service is on point - I gave one less star because the prices are a little high for the portions. The food is amazing though, even though small amounts. We ordered the old fashioned cocktail and my BF said it was really good. For food we got the brussels sprouts - OMG - so crispy, with a delicious cream sauce on top. These were made perfectly! These were $12 for a little skillet. We also got the chicken wings, it had a great sauce with crumbled blue cheese. These cost $18 for about 6 pieces I think. Amazing flavor but that's pricey for how many you get. A must visit esp if you are staying at the hotel.

Jacque' A.

Yelp
Had breakfast here and it was delicious. We ordered the French toast and pancakes. The French toast had bananas on them, and the pancakes was loaded with blueberries. I'm not sure what they did to the French toast but I couldn't even finish the 2 pieces of toast. The pancakes? Omggg now this is what you order when you want to get your money worth! The pancakes were moreeee than enough. Later that night for dinner we ordered burgers and fries, the burger was good but not to be compared to the breakfast. Price: You most definitely get the most bang for your buck with breakfast. 2 burgers came out to $70 while our breakfast was about $40. We were more filled with breakfast. (More aesthetically pleasing too.) Customer service: AMAZINGGGG. Our server ended up being our serve through out the entire staff. I didn't get out server name, but he was nice as well

Jason S.

Yelp
This is my first time in Arizona. I'm not sure if this is an Arizona thing or a Blue Hound thing. The first 20 minutes I had nothing. Not a glance, not a server asking if I needed anything. The service was lackluster. The food was just ok. We're staying here and it's too bad because this will most likely be our last visit.

Ryen B.

Yelp
New menu and new staff since the last time I visited. Our bartender was great- helpful in describing the cocktails, friendly and knowledgeable. Strong cocktail list. The Machinist (an old fashioned rif) was good, but even better were Johann's Debacle and Glampfire Fresh. Lots of pescatarian-friendly starters. My faves were the hiramasa crudo (with thin sliced papaya and spicy mustard sauce), roasted acorn squash with burrata, and winter caesar. Braised butternut squash was just ok. Carrot risotto was super rich; a few bites was enough for me. I didn't notice any golden raisins in ours but maybe that would have helped cut the creaminess? Still, it's a good for sharing. Live music by a talented musician in the lobby the Friday night we stopped in. Recommend and would definitely return.

Brandy G.

Yelp
Stayed at the Kimpton Palomar for a quick girls getaway and had brunch and later appies and wine before departing. The brunch was stellar. The table had lemon ricotta blueberry and granola pancakes, chicken sausage, yogurt and fruit, traditional breakfast, and lox and bagels. And since we couldn't get enough we came back before our flight for the Brazilian bread Pao de Queijo and the BHKC 900 Hot Stone I chose the westholme australian wagyu with cilantro-scallion salad, pickled ginger, and crunchy chili garlic sauce with wine. Super tasty

Shannon D.

Yelp
This place has a cool vibe, great drinks and we loved our chocolate fondue. But where are the lights? The Christmas charm? We went for a winter wonderland and got a blah, mildly-themed ski chalet. Good thing the bartenders were cool and attentive, but we left disappointed. Fun, festive and interesting was dumped for a whole lotta nothing special. But -- shout out to the awesome Mixed Nuts cocktail. Delicious!

Rachel S.

Yelp
This place was spectacular, server was always checking in and ambiance was classy. Food was beyond delicious, steak cooking on the hot stone was fun and the meat and cheese board is always a good option.

Tabitha H.

Yelp
We opted to visit Blue Hound on a Tuesday night. Walking in the entry is sparse but elegant as it is connected to the hotel. We were seated we promptly received water on the table. The server didn't ask us if we wanted anything to drink or anything. A little while later she breezed by and asked if we were ready. My husband opted for the burger and I opted for the wedge salad. The food came out quickly. The hamburger was ok according to my husband, nothing special. My salad taste was good but it felt like I was eating dirt the whole time, it was very gritty. I wanted to send it back but the waitress was sort of MIA. After completing our meal the waitress asked how everything was didn't matter at that point. She asked if we would like dessert, we declined. She stated she would be right back with the check, 20 minutes later we got the check. The funniest part about it was she was happily engaging with the couple beside us. Service was not great despite being way over staffed. Food was ok nothing spectacular. The restaurant had the air of elegance. Food is a bit overpriced.

Sadie O.

Yelp
Was going to give this place 4 stars after having breakfast this morning (which was pretty good!) but upping it to 5 stars after dinner (which was exceptional). Breakfast was eggs Benedict. Really good hollandaise sauce and yummy fingerling breakfast potatoes but the English muffin was weird. Almost like regular bread in an English muffin mold but that was fine because I didn't plan on eating it (low carb - the struggle is real). Dinner however was steak frites with chimichurri and it put all others to shame. Perfectly medium rare and the chimichurri was exceptional. Add to that a surprisingly complex yet soft Pear O Sol cocktail and I was a very happy camper. 5 stars. Would def eat here again. Oh and if you book the adjoining Kimpton hotel through Amex you get a 100$ restaurant credit here

Yelp
On my recent trip to Phoenix, on the last night before my 7am flight back home to Honolulu, I wanted to sample the bar scene in town. The Blue Hound is conveniently in the middle of everything in downtown. It's a cocktail bar, with a long list of custom cocktails on the menu. It's apparently also the lobby restaurant of a hotel. Which explains the higher than normal prices. Coming from Hawaii - a tourist driven economy - we know why. The ambience is terrific. It's dark in places and well lit in others. It's cozy and roomie. The place could get loud if it's crowded but it wasn't, so it wasn't. The drink: Old Fashion. A standard for any bartender. There are good Old Fashions and there's the crap I make a home. Yeah, I may have low expectation levels. Nah, joking. I've had many OF's and this one is up there. I watch my bartender pour, and stir. Strain and top off my drink. I could taste the bourbon and the bitters and a little citrus sweetness. They all hit you at different times so you can enjoy each component. The food: Crispy Chicken Wings on the Happy Hour menu. It was Crispy, crunchy, sticky, sweet, (bleu) cheesy. The cilantro made it pop. It prepared your palate for the many levels of flavor. And who doesn't like fried chicken wings?! Kudos to my bartender, he was welcoming, friendly and open. He suggested my next bar stop. Enjoy you monthly Vegas duties.

Yelp
Food is always tasty. Service is usually quick unless its a busy night to be expected... and the ambiance is always fun and packed. Love the decor and they do a great job mostly of keeping the bathroom tidy.

Yelp
We decided to come here on a Friday night last minute. My husband and I had a baby about a year and a half ago and this was our 3rd Date night since she was born. Needless to say, we were excited to get out! The service was horrible. Keep in mind there was only 6 people in the whole place. They had 4 bartenders/servers behind the counter. It took them 30 minutes just for them to offer us a drink. We finally got the drinks and they are delicious. My husband had the scorpion drink and I had the pear drink. We decided to splurge and order the chefs cut which was a ribeye. It was about $75 a plate. The food came out and looked like something that would come out of an Applebees. The taste was subpar as it was simply bland. The red wine sauce on top literally tasted like thousand island as well. After a $350 bill and sub par food we were so disappointed. We should have just gone to a regular steakhouse! It would have been so much better. If your staying in the hotel it's worth a visit but there's so many other better options nearby. Another visit from us, would be a hard pass Cocktails were great Food sucks

Yelp
A few friends and I walked into this establishment looking for a quick drink as we were waiting for our reservation at arrogant butcher. But before we could reach the bar we were confronted by an employee that immediately explained to us that we could not be served as "the bartender was too busy to serve any more patrons" as we were escorted out I couldn't help but assume that our appearance was the cause of this immediate rush in service even though the place was clearly empty. This was a blatant case of discrimination based on how we look. Unfortunate that people still judge based on appearance these days.

Yelp
Accidentally discovered this place while looking for a speakeasy nearby but was tempted to return right after. Friendly host, comfortable seating, excellent risotto. Drinks were good but not great - they were trying new menu items and somehow the flavors didn't come together for my cocktail. Still recommend this spot for a quick bite in the area.

Yelp
Amazing food, atmosphere, and service. I had been by a number of times and finally stopped in. I wish we'd done it sooner. My wife and I will be back!

Yelp
Two stars only because of the drinks. We drove from Ahwahtukee for date night! What a waste of time. Server never came to check on us. Empty water. When our food came some other server checked on us. It was terrible. They only had 3 tables and we were one of the 3. Never again

Yelp
My girlfriend and I attended for our first time for the 2023 Restaurant Week. First impressions the music is way too loud to even have a conversation and so much so the hostess had to lean in to hear our reservation name and the wait staff was having a hard time even hearing us order. I had the salad, NY strip, and banana dessert. Salad was good, just enough dressing and toppings but nothing too exciting. The steak was not good at all. It was extremely tough and had a ton of gristle. The potatoes and asparagus accompaniment was better than the main course itself. The banana dessert came out extremely hot but very good. My girlfriend had the steak tips, salmon and brownie. The steak tips were amazing, tender, flavorful and tasty. The salmon with mushrooms was just as good. The brownie was subpar. It tasted like it came out of a box and was overcooked and dry. Nothing special. The server was nice enough to get $22 off the steak dinner but for such a subpar meal, it was not worth what we paid for. We most likely will not attend this place again.
