The place is cute, and they have a good number of electric outlets, so it’s good to get some work done. However, it’s rather pricy. A $7 latte turns into $9 with taxes and the mandatory 20% service charge, and they want you to tip on top of that (what’s that 20% service charge if it’s not a tip for the workers?), which becomes almost $11 for a latte with a 40% tip.
I find this double tipping practice shady. To be fair, most tourist establishments in South Beach do it. I guess they bet on unsuspecting tourists to not notice…
Also, the first time I came here, I only ordered a latte and went to sit. The workers told me they would bring it to me downstairs. I sat there for a while. Eventually, after getting tired of waiting, I went back upstairs and they were helping other clients and my latte was just sitting there. One of them could have easily brought me my latte before starting to take more orders. I thought that was poorly executed. The lattes are also served quite cold and the air conditioning downstairs is way too cold.
