Attended the opening reception on Sat for the "BRA 5" exhibit/ fundraiser for two local non-profit agencies helping women with breast cancer resources, education and healing. This gallery space is open, bright, and oh so committed to art and service to the community. Besides the current BRA exhibit which runs through Oct. 11, a children's program - children draw what "happy" means to them - links up with a program which does the same with individuals with dementia. In the gallery area closest to the street, an extensive exhibit responding to current random violence against children, and concepts of war and peace is utterly timely and sure to draw out mental and emotional responses, generating important conversation in the community. This is a beautiful space, Coming up from the Bay Area and never having visited before, I had no idea what to expect. I am sure glad I came! I rated the prices for the art "moderate" because compared to what I see down in the bay area, they are! Hope to participate as an artist in another show at this gallery.
