New Portland Cookie Cart Will Serve Giant Chicken and Waffles Macarons - Eater Boston

"Blue Lobster Wine Company (219 Anderson St.) held a test run of its tasting rooms over the weekend, ahead of an official opening on April 20. Self-described as “not your typical winery,” Blue Lobster offers wine in cans and kegs, calling it a “convenient, sustainable, economical” way of delivering wine with little waste." - Dana Hatic

Excellent wine, friendly servers! Could drink Bayside Blend all night. Great vibes with throwback tunes from the band Deja Vu. Tasty charcuterie from The Portland Board. Will be back

May not be for everyone but as things opened up we just had to stop and taste their wares to pass sometime. Jessica (I believe) was very accommodating and welcoming. I think it was the first or second weekend back in early June that they were finally opening again. If you see yourself in Portland, ME see if you can fit in a little tasting.

Stopped in for an experience in Maine and was pretty disappointed. The three of us that were there each got a flight and none of us liked any of the wines or the cider. The wines were very sweet and the cider was very over carbonated. We didn't finish them even though we felt bad as the service was great. The server wasn't as knowledgeable as I felt like she should have been but was kind.

Great little urban winery in Portland. They had a great variety of wines, we got a flight and tried the mezcal barrel-aged Chardonnay. Truly unique flavor! The flagship blueberry infused wine was great! Not too sweet, not too tart.

If you want to try some truly unique wines while in the Portland area you should make sure to stop here. The staff is super nice and the wine is fantastic. We're coming back at our soonest opportunity to come try more. The best chardonnay I've had in years.

Great wine spot! The person working here was super friendly and nice. The flights are cute as well. Dog friendly too! The couch up front is very comfy as are the chairs. We had a good time!

Don't miss this great spot admidst all the breweries that surround it. you can get an affordable flight of wine and try what they have and then purchase cans of what you like. It's a great afternoon stop, with a friendly and accommodating staff. They even offered animal crackers to our 9-month-old! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Cute wine bar in between the breweries. They make their own wines and sell them in cans which is interesting but still taste great. It's hard to find a winery that does flights, and the place does. You can get a flight of 4 and try all their different wines. Cute indoor and outdoor space. My favorite is their blueberry wine, so refreshing. They also do frozen slushy wine drinks which is great in the summer. Always a favorite to stop in at!

Yelp
Five stars all the way!!! We visit wineries all around the country and honestly, this was one of the best! I only wish this winery was located in Rhode Island!! Seriously, the BEST Moscato ever, hands down. I loved the fun, urban, upbeat feeling this winery had to offer. From the hip hop music, the cool setting and the disco light swirling along the walls, it was totally awesome! The owner was a lot of fun to talk to and very informative on anything you wanted to know! Loved the blue lobster logo too, super cute for the area!! We will without a doubt be back! We will make a pitstop here no matter what part of Maine we decide to visit!!! Way to go Blue Lobster!!!!

Yelp
By far one of the best wineries I have visited! They offer five wines ranging from Chardonnay, Moscato, Rosé, Pinot Noir, and Bayside Blend. A tasting flight includes four of the five. I tried all but the Chardonnay, and will say that they were all winners! The Rosé is a lighter Rosé, and very enjoyable. The Moscato was one of the best I have ever had. The Pinot Noir was full and delicious. Finally the Bayside Blend was another full body red, but not over the top dry. Even though it was over 100° outside I could have easily enjoyed either red, but most certainly with a nice steak or Italian food. The winner of the day had to be the Moscato, however, because it was cold and sweet and screams summer deliciousness! We left with several cans, and only wish this place was closer to Rhode Island, as the cool urban theme was very inviting and fun! As for the whole canned wine thing, I gave into trying some this summer and they truly are every bit as good, if not better, than having it in a bottle.

Yelp
I like wine. I like wine in all the many ways it comes... and I'm not talking merlots, shirazs, pinot noirs, malbecs, grenaches, cab francs, sangioveses (though all of those are delicious)... I'm talking how it's delivered. In a glass? Love it. Straight outta the bottle? Always a good idea. From a plastic mini bottle in an airplane or a wedding reception? Count me in. From a box? Not gonna say no. From a plastic baggy with a straw? Sure. What's been missing in my life is canned wine though. It's been so bizarre living in literally one of *the best* local craft beer producing places in the entire world - most of which know the importance of the can... while it's arguably more environmentally friendly (and cans cool down faster than bottles), it's just more convenient and more transportable! Maine is a pretty outdoorsy state and, even if you're not into hiking, chances are you're into boating or BBQs. Bottles are just way too bulky, and break way too easily. That was a long way of saying: Blue Wine, thank you for existing. (Also, thank you for existing in Bayside - it's nice for us non-beer drinkers to have somewhere to hang out and feel cool/wanted.) I'm not a huge fan of their chardonnay or rose, but that's not what I drink normally anyway. Their Bayside Blend (more juicy) and Zin (more earthy), however, ARE delicious. I believe the chard, blend, and rose are available to purchase in four packs at Whole Foods if you can't make it to the shop itself which has pretty limited hours. If you can go in for a tasting - you should definitely do so! Their wines are on draft (they can, so they keg), and you can have one or - for the same price - do a flight of the four they offer. In the summer time they also have frosé ... it's delicious. Frothy, icy, slushy pink heaven! Perfect for the hazy, hot, humid days of July and August. Side note: Blue Lobster, if you're reading this, since you're doing frosé in the hot weather any chance you could do a mulled wine in the cold weather? Nobody really does that in town, and since you're super innovative... I just think it would be amazing to tuck into a cup of something spicy, boozy, and warming to my soul December through March! I am more than willing to be your taste tester. Just lemme know!

Yelp
Wine in a can...the new trend when it comes to wine. I will say, I was a bit skeptical when I heard that wine in a can was becoming a thing, however, after tasting a variety of wine in a can, I have to say, I can kind of dig it. Blue Lobster Wine Company is one of the places that is doing wine in a can right. I happened to come here one Sunday afternoon with two friends, and I am happy that I did. Blue Lobster is located right next to Lone Pine Brewing, along with a variety other beverage companies, so it's certainly getting a lot of exposure. When I went, it was pretty slow, but there were people coming in and out throughout the time. When you talk into Blue Lobster, the venue appears to be very industrial with a variety of metal instruments for fermenting along with some wooden bar tables throughout. On nice days, they have a small area outside of picnic tables. When we walked in, we were quickly greeted by the worker behind the counter and he walked us through what was available. They had a chardonnay, rose, zinfandel, and a red blend called the "bayside blend" They also feature a cocktail made from one of their wines. On the day that we went, they were offering a rose spritzer. I opted for the wine flight as I wanted to try all of their wines. They also serve oyster crackers to munch on and clear your palates as you try wine! Notes: Chardonnay: Meh. This is probably because I liked oaked chardonnay, but I thought it was okay. Rose: A decent middle of the road rose. Would I drink it again? Sure. Would I seek it out? Probably not. Zinfandel: Really good. Drier but had some nice fruitiness to it. Bayside Blend: This was the highlight of the wines they were offering. It has robust flavor and was full-bodied. It even had some oak-y-yness which I appreciated. Overall, I love what Blue Lobster is doing. I would definitely be back and bring friends to try it out!

Yelp
I like to visit wineries every new place I go, and Blue Lobster didn't disappoint- a different style of a winery with more of a brewery vibe & fantastic execution of wine in a can. They offer a really nice selection and most important of all: FROSE. #pinkiesup Of the wines, we tried 4 in a flight. We asked for the most popular offerings and received the chardonnay, rose, bayside blend and blueberry. The bayside blend was our absolute favorite, and the blueberry a close second. I typically do not like sweet wines but this was super well balanced from both a flavor and fruity perspective. We ended up buying 4 packs of both! The frose is also great, more sweet (but not overly) than their regular rose which is on the very dry side- definitely recommend for a hot day. In addition, the staff is super welcoming, friendly, and very knowledgeable on their stuff. Highly recommend paying them a visit.

Yelp
The pink/teal/blue building complex @ 219 Anderson street is fast becoming the coolest adult beverage playground I have ever seen. With Lone Pine and Goodfire breweries, and Blue Lobster and eighteen twenty wineries all in the same building, this place has a little of something for everyone. While beer is definitely my thing, I had an amazing time here with great wine, a relaxed vibe, a chill owner and reasonable prices. Looking more akin to a brewery than what one envisions a winery to look like, the place is super chill. Known for their wine in a blue can (available at WFM), Blue Lobster's approach to wine in the winery is just as unique. Upon entering the spot, you are greeted with a set of tap handles and a "draft list" of wine. While some people would immediately put their nose up at this, I put my nose down and approached immediately, and it did not disappoint. They had 4 wines on draft with a special frosé (frozen rose I later learned from an expert in the field). The coolest part for me was that they also offer a set of samplers of each of the wines for the same price as a glass, which were all very reasonably priced. Being the curious type, I tried all 4 and I have to say, all were excellent. My favorite of the 4 was the Bayside blend, but all are great. A friend let me try her frosé, and it was really delicious as well. All in all, this is an awesome place to chill out and enjoy good wine among the wine-making equipment. It will always be a stopping spot when visiting the adult beverage playland of 219 Anderson. Cheers!

Yelp
Stopped in twice during our short visit to Portland and really enjoyed their wines. They were offering a white, rose and two reds along with a cider. The wines were wonderful and had plenty of character. They were crisp but not sweet or overpowering; these folks know what they're doing. They source their grapes from California and sell most everything canned. The cider they were offering was also delicious and very dry so it was like you were tasting a sparkling wine. A great accompaniment, but again, not sweet at all.

Yelp
This was a really cool place I've never heard of an urban winery before. It was kind of like a microbrewery inside where you could actually get flights of wine and the wine was in cans instead of wine bottles. Will definitely be coming back again and buying the wine.

Yelp
The wine went down like water. I had to do a double sip to make sure I was drinking wine. It was hard to believe I was really drinking wine. The flavors were very light for all the white wines in the flight that I got. I tried the bayside blend (blueberry red), chardonnay, rose, and zinfandel. Thursday early evening, this place wasn't crowded at all so social distancing was an automatic, and they have the garage doors wide open. The oyster crackers provided were a nice touch.

Yelp
Cozy spot on a sunny winter afternoon. Great wine, low key spot makes this place a gem at the end of Anderson St.

Yelp
I decided to head out to sip my way through town on Labor Day weekend with a couple of friends and we ended up making our way down to Blue Lobster Wine Company. Happy to see the Anderson Street area of Bayside sprucing up a bit with all these new up and coming places like BLWC. Having never been here before and being wine aficionados, my friends and I elected to try the wine flight/sampler to get a feel for the place. There was one white option (pinot I believe?), a rosé option, a red blend option, and a dark red option as well. Our favorite was the red blend for sure. So much so that my friend came back and bought some cans to have at home. Which, let me just tell you...they hold SO much wine! It's actually deceiving how much wine a typical can will hold, it is a lot more than you would expect! Pouring it into a wine glass, it appears to be about twice the typical serving size you'd get visiting a wine bar in town. I'm not sure of pricing, but I will definitely be back here to pick up some of that fantastic red blend. I really like the picnic tables outside and the location is perfect, plenty of street parking, and walkable if you reside in Bayside, friendly staff. I would like to try the frosé for sure, and I will be back soon to do so!

Yelp
Blue Lobster never fails me - we'll except that one time they were closed because they were expanding . Today was no different. Lindsey (sorry if I misspelled) was a great host and as always, the wine was great. Wine in a can? Yes please. Can't wait to come back in the summer for their frosé.

Yelp
Blue Lobster was one of the best wineries I have been to. The 4 wines they were offering at time were amazing - every one was unique and tasteful (as well as affordable). The atmosphere was relaxed and different from a traditional winery. They even have started a board game collection and there are food trucks in the summer. Blue Lobster is what Portland needs in a cluster of breweries. Don't snooze on this place!!!

Yelp
Really nice spot. We had a blast there. The owner was extremely nice, the wine was actually quite delicious for someone who doesn't drink wine, I suggest the rose! Bought some wine for home, looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Staff is friendly and knowledgable and the wines are fresh and delicious. This is a great open-air space to sample and sip local wine. They have something for everyone from the super-sweet moscato to an off-dry red blend (my personal favorite). The Rose seems to be a big hit and they sell 4 pack cans to-go. Each can is equivalent to 2 glasses of wine so it's the same as buying two bottles. GONE are the days of opening an entire bottle of wine when you only want a single glass. Now you can have a fresh pour from a can and it tastes fantastic!

Yelp
Very disappointed... this company boasts their Frose as their huge thing but yet went three different times during gastro gogo and they didn't have any. I understand GGG was extremely busy, but telling people they have to wait 45 mins and when you come back you get another "sorry, none ready yet" probably means I just won't ever bother going back.

Samantha J.

Yelp
This place was okay. I got a tasting, which was relatively small amounts for wines. I tried four of the five wines, which are canned instead of bottled or boxed. The blueberry wine I found to be absolutely delicious, the others weren't noteworthy to me. At the prices, I couldn't really justify splurging on the blueberry, but I would grab a glass if I was in the area. I like the idea but for the price and quality I feel I will be going next door for my wine needs.

Yelp
We wandered into the winery to discover a treasure! Who knew wine in cans could be so wonderful. Chris, the entrepreneur owner, told his story from concept, his learning experience, and return to Maine to make his passion come to fruition. You can sample by ordering a flight and when you do you will first hand experience Chris's and his team's creativity as wine "chefs." We had a great time and catch wait for the next Bayside Blend coming in Nov!
