We are creatures of habit when it comes to ordering Thai food. It can't be helped. We have our favorites! Today I did stray, however, and wasn't disappointed. For a strip center build out, Blue Mint Thai and Asian Cuisine is spacious and soothing. Comfy booths at the back gave us a broad view of the restaurant and it was a pleasant one.
We ordered our usual Tom Kha Gai and at a no. 4 on the heat scale - hot. My spouse likes everything Thai hot; but that's too crazy for me for something we're going to share. It came steaming in a lovely square green bowl, the chicken tender and the broth fragrant and creamy. There was so much of it for $9.
For my entree, I chose the Spicy Basil Fish, a deep fried tilapia sauteed with chili peppers, green beans, carrots, bell peppers, onions, their spicy basil sauce and basil leaves. ($14.95) It really was beautiful on the plate and incredibly crispy. Although delicious, I found myself wanting more vegetables. The fish fillet itself was quite large with just a small pile of vegetation on top. The basil sauce around everything, though, was absolutely amazing. The dish was just scrumptious and "medium hot perfect" for me.
My spouse ordered his usual, a curry, green curry with chicken this time. ($10.95) He was happy with it; but his Thai hot request took him for a ride! He got more than he bargained for this time.
Our waitstaff were kind and efficient. If we didn't find Blue Mint Thai and Asian Cuisine's food to be perfect, we did find it to be very good and would return.
