This place was so good!! Would 100% go back and i recommend it to everybody:) I went during the Ironman weekend+it was raining so we didn’t have to wait in line, but our server told us that there is usually a line outside. There’s also a self-serve coffee bar!

Google
1-hour wait time to get this breakfast and a 40-minute wait to get seated. When I asked why it takes so long to make an omelette, the only answer I got was, ‘We have only two people cooking.’ With all due respect, it’s not my problem that you don’t have enough staff to serve clients efficiently. You need to inform people in advance that the wait time for breakfast is 1 hour. The worst part is that the restaurant doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem and doesn’t feel apologetic at all. I don’t recommend it—unless you have 2 hours to spare for breakfast

Google
Visited this restaurant for breakfast on all three days of my stay in town, and the food was consistently great. I especially loved the pancakes and chicken quesadillas. They were served hot and fresh every time. The only thing that stood out was that the staff could be a bit more attentive and welcoming. A warm smile goes a long way in enhancing the dining experience, and I felt that was slightly lacking. That said, it’s still a great spot for breakfast, and I definitely recommend it!

Blue Moon Cafe is my favorite restaurant in the Adirondacks. It has the best food in Saranac Lake. They cook fresh bread every day, offer outstanding breakfast and lunch, in particular their homemade corned beef hash and fresh Reuben sandwiches. Soups of the day are always worth checking out. Plus their daily specials. And Rita is the best server!

If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to dine inside a hot yoga studio that also serves great food, look no further. Walking into this establishment was like stepping into a sauna—only without the relaxation or the eucalyptus scent. Just the thick, muggy embrace of stale fryer air and the slow realization that sweat will be your side dish. Our waitress was a true minimalist when it came to customer service—she mastered the art of doing the absolute least with a vape pen in one hand and a haunting apathy in the other. Between her frequent vape sabbaticals out front and in plainsight, she graced us with the occasional grunt and a blank stare that said, "I used to care, but then I took this job." My order came out as a fun surprise because she clearly prefers to roll the dice rather than write things down. The ambiance? Think deli-turned-diner, but no one updated the staff or the thermostat. Honestly, it’s like the place had an identity crisis in 2009 and never recovered. Now, to be fair—and because my therapist says I should try gratitude—the hostesses were fantastic. Friendly, welcoming, and seemingly the only ones who knew which end of the restaurant was up. Bless their overworked hearts. Overall? If you’re looking to sweat profusely while questioning every life decision that led you here, this is your spot. Otherwise, maybe just go sit in your car with the windows up on a sunny day. It’s basically the same thing, but cheaper.

Best food and best service and people!!! I had the Mediterranean scrambled eggs which was awesome and so full!!! Very tasty!! It’s worth the money as huge quantity is given. My husband had the Scottish omelet without the meat which was very fluffy and again soooo good!! We also had the coffee again we’ll done n brewed! Must try cookie very crumbly and buttery!!! The service was great, staff here are very nice! We came here for our trip and the locals are very friendly.

Google
I came here for breakfast for both days I stayed in town. The place gets busy right as it opens at 7am, but they always have space at the counter. I got the Florentine scramble with lox for day 1, and the Charleston omelette from their daily menu on day 2. Both were excellent! The coffee was self-serve and unlimited, which is always appreciated. The staff were always busy but friendly so make sure to wave them over when you need something.

Google
Have only gone here for breakfast so can’t speak for lunch, but this place is a must try!! Never disappoints. I always go for the Hash and Eggs meal but everything on the menu looks spectacular. Servers are friendly and helpful, atmosphere is great, and the coffee is self serve so you can make it to your liking. Overall a great experience, would highly recommend.

Yelp
My husband and I were looking for a good and casual place for lunch. Blue Moon Cafe fit the bill. We received efficient and friendly service. The sandwiches were delicious, including a Rueben with house made corned beef and a BLT. We would highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

Yelp
Decided to sleep in this morning but still needed a good breakfast to get our day started. After a short 15 minute wait we were seated and directed to the self-serve coffee bar. I was glad to find they had oat milk (upon request) a few different coffees to choose from. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Lots of breakfast options available - both sweet and savory. I had homemade corned beef hash with over-easy eggs and wheat toast made in house. Hubby had a scramble with spicy chorizo and peppers. Everything was excellent! There is a lot of seating for a small restaurant so it speaks to their popularity that there is always a wait to get a table. Definitely add Blue Moon Cafe to your list when visiting Saranac Lake.

Yelp
Tasty food, but a bit pricey for what you get. Casual, friendly service. Hometown diner feel. Ordered the Irish scramble and it was fine, mostly tasted of the cheese it was smothered in. The star of the meal was the homemade English muffin. Definitely get that as your breakfast bread!

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Great corned beef hash, rye bread was so yummy ... lattes not worth it (coffee tasted bitter). Some servers were so rude when asking for juice for a kid

Connor B.

Yelp
Food (breakfast) was good! Was seated promptly. Busters and hostess were very nice. However, the wait staff could have been a bit more attentive (20 min to get waters, seemed annoyed when we eventually flagged them down) and a bit more kind! If you don't mind waiting a long time to get seen by a waiter, highly recommended!

Yelp
Love the vibe in here. Very relaxed and friendly. You serve your own coffee - I personally liked this since you can go as you please to have another cup without having to wait for your server. I had the San Antonio breakfast bowl. Absolutely delicious. Perfect serving size. I asked for hot sauce on the side - I believe what they provided was a hatch chili sauce (bottle wasn't labeled so I'm guessing), SO GOOD. Some other hits from my table - hash and eggs, Denver bowl. Service was pretty quick and prices are reasonable. Overall - this is an easy yes for me. I will definitely be back and hopefully next time for lunch. The entire menu sounds good to be honest and I don't think you could really go wrong with anything on there.

Yelp
Pretty disappointed. Arrived at 11, was told a table for 4 would be 20-25 minutes. No problem, they took our number and would call when available. Never called. Came back after 30 minutes to ask for an update and miraculously our table was ready. Ordered, and then waited nearly an hour for food to come. Tables around us were served. No one came to update. Finally food came, 3 dishes were lukewarm, the pancakes were hot but overcooked. Nothing was worth the wait, no apologies from anyone. Coffee was self serve and left empty for 15 minutes. Most definitely would not go back.

Yelp
Very nice, cozy diner with erratic but sincere and friendly staff. All the staples here are handled here with a few unique flairs that I really enjoyed. I had the Benny with ham steak which was really good and came with extra Hollandaise by request. The coffee self-service was fun and you get to use an eclectic set of mugs. Front of house is kind of an adventure - using a landline phone to call your mobile is quaint, but not efficient! Our name got lost in the morning hustle. Also, the Bloody Mary, while substantial, needed a bit more kick for my taste. But, I'm splitting hairs here. Great little place, friendly service with solid food!

Yelp
I absolutely enjoyed this cute little diner. The staff is very courteous and very homey. Food came out extremely quick, hot and well done. Definitely would return here if I'm back up in the area. Loved it!

Michael P.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast places I've been to. Everything is homemade and done the right way. J&J breakfast sandwich is to die for.

Yelp
Welcome welcome welcome! Staff greets you with a genuine smile and tells you to help yourself to the coffee station. Delicious coffee.. btw. Came here for breakfast and discovered a great new place to visit while in Saranac! Do not miss the homemade breads! The rye was amazing!

Mitch D.

Yelp
A nice way to start the day w/ one of their hearty breakfasts! Cute place right in downtown & lots of tasty choices on their menu. Had the apple cinnamon french toast which was very good. Loved all the local art work on the walls for sale. Our only complaint was w/ over charging on certain items like a small amount of salsa. The waitress didn't know the price for the coffee or if certain items cost extra.

Yelp
Happy Thursday Adventurers! This was my first time in the Adirondack's and this place was so cute! Since it was the week before Ice Palace festival at Saranac Lake this place was hopping! Luckily as a solo traveler I found a spot right at the bar. The first time I was there I ordered the Carnival Breakfast Bowl that was on special. It was sautéed potatoes in a tortilla bowl, with chili, and your style eggs on top. This was so delicious I plan to recreate it at home. The chili was mild and surprised me because it had chunks of pork, not ground beef. So so good! I highly recommend trying this. I also ordered a cup or chowder because I love soup, but it was also like minus 2 out, so I needed to warm up. Of course with it being my birthday week I ordered a mimosa---why the heck not?! They have coffee that's self serve which, honestly is really unique and so much easier thank having to wait for a refill. They have two bars, one upfront that's like a homey diner bar, and the back is more like a bar bar(I think they offer live bands on warmer days and weekends ?). Both have liquor but the vibe is so different. I wish I could have gotten a seat in the front table because it was still snowing, so when you look out you felt like it was a winter wonderland. The second time I was there I ordered that corned beef and hash, as well as the B.O.B (thanksgiving on a bagel) and tomato soup. Dude this sandwich was legit thanksgiving in your mouth, though the bagel was pretty hard but I think this was just the type of bagel. I really enjoyed the soup---a perfect blend of slightly sweet, no acidity, and creamy tomato taste. The corned beef and hash was so good, reminded me of m childhood. So glad I split and brought the rest home for my trip back. This place reminds me of Gilmore Girls location extra which feels like home. The walls are adorned with photography from I think local artists. I recommended this spot, but get there early and be patient, the entire staff was so friendly.

Yelp
First time eating here. Had lunch. Wide selection of options. Food and service were excellent. They were fairly busy but we were not rushed. Family friendly atmosphere.

Nancy P.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast. Had the corpus christi omelet. It had no cheese! The home fries were mushy. The toast was good as were the bloody mary's. When I asked about no cheese, I was told there were "new" people in the kitchen. This place won't be my choice again.

Gerard H.

Yelp
What a perfect spot for a bite to eat. I had a Western scramble ( similar to omelette) and my wife had avocado toast and both were perfect. I'm not tech savvy but my wife reserved a table after finding this place on Google. We also paid via Apple Pay. Very nice waitress and super clean spot. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We were told it would be a half hour wait for a table and nothing was available for almost an hour. We were seated at a cramped table in the corner and given two different menus (with alcoholic beverages available and crossed out) with no indication of which was correct. They also had no mention of soft drinks. Two of the specials were not available but we weren't told until after attempting to order them. I had the Upper Lox, which is served on a very mediocre, bland bagel. The poached egg was overcooked and rubbery, and the cream cheese was sweet and overly soft. The listed hours are also incorrect, we left at 1 PM and there was already a chair with a closed sign blocking the exit. Overall, poor service and mediocre food. Not recommended.

Yelp
Very good food. I got the scottsman benny and it was outstanding. Service was good. Only thing is that you have to get your own coffee. I also got the corned beef hash. Always like a place that makes it homemade. Bacon is nice large thick cut. Ill def be back here when im in the area

Dawne D.

Yelp
Great breakfast for mother's day! Wonderful tasting food and great service. Definitely come back!

Jaimie R.

Yelp
Came for the eclipse weekend and was recommended this place by our Airbnb host as where the locals go. There was only a 10 minute wait but the coffee and food was bad and under seasoned. I asked for a hazelnut latte which they said they could do and I was served a watery gas station coffee with hazelnut syrup that was almost $7! Shocking as the specialty coffee shops next door only charge $6 for a latte. I ordered the J&J breakfast sandwich ($8) and the taters (just boiled/bKed potatoes) and both were just lacking salt and seasoning. The tomato soup ($6) was lacking salt and tasted watered down. I guess if this is the only place open in the small town it's ok but definitely lower your expectations

Yelp
Food wasn't anything to write home about, but no real complaints. The problem lies in the service. Our waitress was Bri, who took 15 minutes to get to our table after we sat down. Was unapologetic and didn't seem to have a problem with her service shortcomings. Took 3x longer to do anything than your average server. I'd try this place again if I knew my waitress wouldn't be her. Other than that it's a cozy spot on one of the main streets. Still waiting for the check after writing this.

Yelp
Saranac Lake isn't the easiest place to find a truly wonderful culinary experience... We have enjoyed Blue Moon for many years and after seeing several reviews I am weighing in with perhaps a longer-term perspective for consideration. The food is consistently excellent and I have had everything from the Adirondack Lox to a full dining experience. I recently treated my guests to a bag full of "The Pisgah" sandwiches- Grilled fresh chicken breast, onions and mushrooms, Swiss cheese on a grilled homemade roll with herbed mayo. They are still talking about them! Local folks, great service and terrific food in a pleasant setting makes this a must try!

Jack A.

Yelp
Nice Place, Great food, very laid back, no white glove service here, which I enjoy. You can tell they could use more staff, It was very busy when we were there, however the staff did their job, I guess in a small seasonal town, thats how it goes. Will return

Yelp
My husband and I went here on a Sunday late morning. It was super busy! But we managed to get a seat at the table top. The hostess told us up front that it would be a wait to get meals out. ( totally appreciated the up front honesty) we decided to stay anyway. Even though it was busy the staff I'm sure was stressed were still so super nice and friendly! I ordered a egg, cheese and bacon sandwich with home fries. The bread is homemade and the sandwich was huge. So so good and not at all greasy. Bacon was good it was all amazing. Hubby had the eggs Benedict with bacon. He's was really good too. This was the best meal I've had all weekend while staying in the area. So good that I wanna come back for dinner. Wish I took photos. Don't let the wait times fool you. It's totally worth the wait!!!!

Yelp
Came for breakfast and it was good. Service was slow but it was jam packed and I can understand the waitstaff being overwhelmed. When we left we passed a line of about 10 people waiting to be seated. Food was good, basic breakfast foods. Clean and decent selections. Small town vibe throughout.

Steven S.

Yelp
We were told it would be about 30 minutes for a table, and were finally seated 50 minutes later. Six of us were crowded around a small table in the front, where people waiting for tables hovered over us. We then waited 15 more minutes for a server, and when we began to order were then informed for the first time they were out of two specials. We then had to take more time to decide. Unfortunately, the food wasn't worth waiting for. The poached egg was overcooked, tomatoes tasteless, and the bagel no better than the supermarket variety. Other items at our table were described as, "okay." While we were still eating we were asked if there were any plates that could be cleared - rushing us along. There are better options.
google avatar

Perri L.

Yelp
I am an immune compromised person and I felt very safe eating here. The spacing of customers was great. The wait staff was very careful to maintain social distance and wore masks. AND the food and coffee were AMAZING. I had French toast with eggs and potatoes... so so yummy! Great safe place to eat!

Yelp
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Went here for lunch and got the tomato mozzarella panini with a side of garlic and herb mayo. My father got the Reuben sandwich and switched out the chips for coleslaw. Both where so delicious and flavorful on their homemade breads! We hardly talked outside of saying "mmm so gooood" cause we couldn't get enough! We got there at a busy time and while they were understaffed. Staff seated us as quickly as possible and were extremely nice and attentive. Place was clean and nicely decorated with local art! It's even a treat when you go to the bathroom, which is downstairs, as it smells like the fresh muffins and pastries they baked for the day! Had a coffee and tea bar accessible to anyone which was nice if you wanted to grab a quick drink and pastry for on-the-go! (though you can order at the table as well) You won't regret eating here!

Yelp
Very good food and service. We enjoyed our breakfast in the back of the cafe and appreciate the homemade touches of the food. Our 6-year old daughter liked her blueberry pancake which was quite filling for her. I enjoyed the Benedict with ham and home baked English muffins. Felt safe and distanced from other parties.

Yelp
My bride and I visited Saranac Lake for its annual winter carnival, our first time back to the event in 10 years. We ate at Blue Moon Cafe for breakfast each day, and loved it. The space is quaint and clean, the food was delicious (a lot, if not all, is sourced from local farms). Service was quick, and every employee we came into contact with were very kind and helpful. I definitely recommend this spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Well worth the walk over in snow. Mimosas. Eggs n hash were great. Good service. Got the day started just right. Perfect small town diner.

Sysan C.

Yelp
Quaint eatery in downtown Saranac Lake. Cozy space with extremely dedicated waitstaff and regular clientele. We had a window seat with a view of the sidewalk traffic for entertainment. Enjoyed our coffee and Eggs Benedict, prepared as we had requested with hollandaise on the side. Would come again, if in the area.
google avatar

Randy A.

Yelp
Good food, was busy when we went. I would go again. Locally operated and owned. Seating area is kinda tight.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
Had a very nice brunch here today. My eggs benedict was very tasty but the hollandaise sauce was a little too thin and lemony for my liking. It was hard to get past the lemony flavor and should of been much more subtle. The bread used was different then a typical English muffin but it was good. It also had nice thick pieces of ham. I loved the side potatoes and that they came with peppers and onions. My boyfriend got the panini #1 with turkey, bacon, tomatoes etc. He was very happy with his sandwich and had a hard time finishing it since it was so big. One strange thing is that the coffee is self served. Our server was friendly but never came back to check on us. Either way, we will definitely be back to try more.
google avatar

Taylor O.

Yelp
Cute cafe! Very busy in the morning hours so you know the locals love it. Staff were so friendly and understanding that we needed a minute with the menu because we were from out of town. Coffee was really good; refreshing and soul-warming. I got a breakfast sandwich on an onion bagel. Very yummy. It was made with two eggs and real cheddar cheese, no yellow stuff. Next time I would like to do a sit down for breakfast, we got to go for this stop.
google avatar

Stacy W.

Yelp
Had the Reuben, pancakes, and Sara Burger for brunch. Small wait but was worth it. The chips were good and the pickles seemed homemade and exceptional! Recommend the Reuben if you like corned beef!
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
Liar, liar pants on fire! Got there on a Sunday at 11:57. I asked if they served lunch as well as breakfast. She went to ask and told me I could only order it at 12. Like really? We said fine and asked for the menu because she didn't seem like she wanted to give us one. She reminded us once again that we could not order until after 12. Great customer service. The menu said their corn beef was made in-house. Wonderful, what a treat I thought and I ordered a Reuben. Well, they need to take that off their menu because it's an out right lie. I knew it was not made in house after the first bite because it tasted too much like the stuff from the grocery store. It was not good. Not only was it crappy deli meat, they were super cheap with it. There was more sauerkraut on the sandwich than anything else. It was served with chips, they don't even serve fries or a side salad.
google avatar

Keepin It Real M.

Yelp
I've been to this resturant on two occasions. One time when I was staying close and the other when I was in Lake Placid. I only have good things to say. Came there for the breakfast and took a spinach salad to go for later. Always delicious and well worth going to if your in the area. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Racemic U.

Yelp
Yuck! Don't sell lattes if you can't be bothered to learn how to make a latte. Charging me almost $5 for a shifty ass, burn-my-mouth-off, gas station fucked up "latte". Screw you guys! That was fucking inedible.

Caitlin G.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast. Super delicious food. I got the full breakfast and a regular coffee. Super cute cafe.
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Stopped at this fabulous little gem in Saranac Lake and what a find! Owner was awesome, truly wonderful ambience, great food, atmosphere, home made bread, hot sauce.....a must go!!!!
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
The food here is just fabulous! We went on a very busy Saturday morning and there was a wait. The staff was absolutely up front about that and communicated frequently. It was worth the wait. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the ingredients were so fresh, and the staff was so friendly even though it was obvious they were all working their you know what's off! Loved the fresh fiddlehead dish was offered - now that's local!
google avatar

Jared S.

Yelp
Best spot for lunch and brekkie. House-made breads and baked good are spectacular. Prices are good. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Kristina Z.

Yelp
I would've given it 3.5 stars, but I'm in a good mood so I went with 4 rather than 3:) Negatives: the food was kind of under-seasoned to my taste, and home fried potatoes burnt, and I love potatoes, so that was disappointing. Positives: English muffins that they bake on premises were delicious, and poached eggs were cooked perfectly. I don't think I would come here again, but I wouldn't discourage you from trying this place out.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Great pit stop on our way to the ski slopes! Large portions, homemade fresh bread, fresh ingredients. Welcoming staff contributed to the comfy, cozy cafe scene.

Artax N.

Yelp
I'm not sure how you can serve breakfast and not know how to make a pancake. First pancake arrived charred - sent it back. Second arrived large and stuffy and filled with... uncooked batter. (This was after waiting 15 mins). Sent it back. We had paid already at this point, and so chose to use our money to get baked goods (didn't trust anyone knew how to make a pancake), and they were stale and old. Not surprised. When i went downstairs to use the toilet, there were the baked goods on a tray in the kitchen - exposed to the elements. Eggs were meh. This place is not only the worst place i ate at saranac (& no place was great so the bar was low), but it also may be the worst place I've ever eaten.
google avatar

Julia W.

Yelp
I want to like this place. The food is fine and they have the biggest breakfast selection in town, but the service is awful. I've dined in three times: the first time it took a half hour to get my food. The second time, my boyfriend and I waited 25 minutes for them to take our order and then we just left. The third time, about 15 minutes to take our order and 25 minutes to get it. The first two visits were pre-covid, fully staffed. Just now I tried calling for takeout and was put on hold for ten minutes while I listened to the girl on the phone take 3 people's orders in store and then she walked away from the phone- clearly forgot about me. This town desperately needs another diner so that Blue Moon starts putting some effort in.

Yelp
We had a good lunch last Sunday. They were busy but the staff was very attentive. The food arrived in a decent amount of time and was delicious.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for breakfast while we were in the Adirondacks for a trip. I was so happy we came here! First off, there's street parking in front of the cafe, but it said it's only 30 mins. The waitress said that they don't ticket in the fall/winter so we could stay on our spot. However, if you're worried, they do have a parking area in between the shops around this street located also right in front of the cafe on the opposite side. That parking lot is a 2 hour parking. You have options. The cafe has a rustic interior, which made it feel homey. You can choose to sit wherever you'd like and they'll bring menus to you. You also have the option of course to just grab and go. However, there's plenty of tables and seats available if you plan on dining in. I ordered the Sara Stack which includes 2 pancakes. I also added chocolate chips to it. By itself, it probably wouldn't taste all that special, but if you add fruits or chocolate chips like I did, I thought the pancakes tasted pretty good. The pancakes were very soft and the chocolate chips added an even better flavor. The prices here are fairly inexpensive as well. The pancakes are about $6. For all 3 of us, the total came out to $18. M They also have different alcoholic drinks available and later at night they hold live music and dancing. I wouldn't ever expect that from a cafe. BEST PART HANDS DOWN was our waitress. She made our experience 10x better. If you meet her, her name is Julie. She made us feel so welcomed and had a great conversation with my friends and I. She was just so friendly and gave the best service possible. If she wasn't there, I don't know if we would have enjoyed this cafe as much.
