Blue Moon

Took a drive to try this spot out on a whim (I heard great things about the breaded cauliflower) but the disappointment was real. First issue is the drive through set up. The shop is on a corner of a super busy 4 way intersection with no real idea of where to pull in. (I made the mistake of trying to enter on the north side) after a short wait we were able to pull up to make our order. The pricing was fantastic. As we were pulling out we noticed a line of about 10 cars so apparently they take orders on both sides. There is no outside seating for this shop! Now to the food.. the cauliflower was burnt on half of the outside, yet somehow soggy/greasy on the inside. We got two orders, wasn’t able to even finish one. The coney dog had hardly enough sauce to taste. The added onion was enough though. The shakes were super thick but minimal flavor. They tasted more like vanilla with a dash of flavoring. It was opening day, but we won’t be going back anytime soon.

The ice cream here is amazing. So many different flavors and the flavor of the week is always great. It's soft serve and my daughter loves the little baby cones with the eyes on them. The only downside is there's no place to sit down and enjoy your ice cream because there's no parking spots. There are two directions on Drive-In and hopefully you pick the right one but the lines are always super long.

I love this place! The fried cauliflower is incredible. I have to have all the flavors before they close for the season. The kids who work here are great. I do have a suggestion or two. Try out fried okra that might be a winner and tutti fruiti ice cream. That might be a winner too.

Charged me 75 cents for a water and forgot to give me the water. When I realized I didn’t have the water I immediately called and they refused to give me my money back instead offering me a credit for my next purchase. I don’t live in Auburn. Very poor customer service and they don’t even have their phone number printed in the reciept. 👎

Visited the Blue Moon today and it did not disappoint!! First the girls we so nice and helpful!!! Second the ice cream is so soothing compared to Big name brands, it was a delightful sweet treat to end our day!! Great job Blue Moon

If you’re looking for the best place to get ice cream in DeKalb County then check out this place! Great ice cream, great service, and got through quickly. They even have kid sizes It’s sad that this place is seasonal and closing soon, will come back next year!

Always an amazing experience. Took the grandkids this weekend and they loved their burgers and sundaes. The workers are all very young but they do an excellent job. Fast, friendly, and super efficient even with long lines. Take your food to the nearby park! Worth the 20 minute drive from Fort Wayne any day.

The goods: the staff was very enthusiastic and appear to enjoy their job. The food came out pretty quickly while the place was pretty busy. Sadly that's about it. The bad: I guess we should start with the ice cream. I don't know if their machine was broken but it was not very creamy soft serve. It reminded of the old churned ice cream that you got with the powder mix from the grocery store (iykyk). As a person who has made ice cream at home it is clear that they have too much water in their mix causing ice crystals to form. The tenderloin sandwich is a pork fritter that identifies as tenderloin sandwich, perfectly edible but not an Indiana pork tenderloin sandwich. The hamburgers were obviously frozen patties and lack the proportions of meat and fat to remain juicy. The fries were greasy and competing with in and out burger for least appetizing fries. I honestly have no idea how there is a line going both directions. If you want cool treats and fast food eats just go dq and skip this place all together.

I'm only up here about once a year, but I have to stop by. On my side, I was car #9, but it only took about 15 min to get through. This time, had a pulled pork sandwich and fries, and choc rasberry shake, a hot dog and a pup cup for my dog. The pup cups are adorable. Fries and shake were ok, more flavor would've been great. My pulled pork smelled and tasted so good, I wish it had been twice as big. Staff was friendly as always. And the prices are super reasonable. A fun bit of summer! Only meh is asked for mayonnaise at the window and was told that is $.70 upcharge. Seems weird when rest of pricing is so reasonable ... whole cute pup cup was only $.80! Seems like condiments should just be included. #yum #ReviewsByRL

Great food and service highly recommended easy in easy out. To bad they close down so early in the year. Should be opened all year, great coney dogs

This is one of the best family owned and operated ice cream ships around. Their specials and flavors change weekly and they never disappoint. Of course their is always chocolate and vanilla. They offer a variety of sandwiches and sides as well. Great little place for lunch or dinner......and ice cream!!!

We love this cute, Drive thru ice cream shop! The selections are delicious and they give you plenty of ice cream for the price. Definitely come by with an appetite. I love that they have different options such as "caramel apple".

Lengemdary ice cream and service is always friendly and orders are never wrong! Have visited many times for nearly 45 years.

I got an upside down banana split and some milkshakes and they where all amazing!! Wish it wasn't closed for the season so we could try the food! But would 100% recommend trying it out

If you pass through Garrett, IN in the summertime make sure to plan a visit to The Blue Moon. This quirky little ice cream shop is worth going off your path for! While there is a picnic bench out front most people just enjoy the convenient drive-thru. You can order from either side of the building and their quick service allows them to get cars through even when ordering food! The food is great, and the daily specials are something to consider when ordering. They have a flavor of the week ice cream (I hear lemon is a local favorite) but I persoan ly don't believe the size of cone is worth the price. A small is about 4oz (the size at McD's) and is $2. Maybe the flavor of the week is worth the money, but I want a couple more oz per cone for the money. Their other ice cream products are comparable to other summer stores, but their shakes are smooth and amazing!

The Blue Moon has always been the go-to place for ice cream and a chicken strip or shrimp basket. You cannot go to the Blue Moon without getting a Black Raspberry shake. Delicious! As far as service, the place has always been a bit slow. But it's expected. And the prices aren't terrible. Perfect place to go to before going to the Auburn Garrett Drive-in.

Visiting from Boston, Cool idea for a drive thru. Not impressed with the cheeseburgher, frozen patty, cheese not melted. Onion ring were good as was the girl who served me, she was very nice. I do not recommend

The service is slow and the people working there weren't very friendly. Not to mention they charge extra for everything! Want ranch with your order of mushrooms? That's going to cost extra. Want cheese on your hot dog? That's extra too. Just 2 chili cheese dogs and an order of mushrooms and ranch cost me $10! And I didn't even order a drink...This place seems pretty overpriced for a quick drive through place with low quality food in the middle of nowhere! I would give this place more stars if they actually had decent customer service but overall just very unimpressed with this place.

Ice cream is average food is below average, no dine in and very little hangout space. Slow service.

After a hot summer day outside, it's worth the wait for an ice cream cone from the Blue Moon! I've always had friendly service. Cotton candy was the flavor of the day recently, and it was surprisingly good! Reminded me of Red Velvet Cake ice cream by Edy's. We usually just get ice cream, but the couple times we got cheeseburgers, they were very good, too.

I promised the kids in the soccer carpool I'd buy them ice cream here after they learned what a Blue Moon actually was. Well, I learned something also as I was looking into it and discovered that there are a few definitions of a blue moon (one for the 2nd in a month, and one for the 3rd out of 4th in a single season, and I think one more that I can't remember right now), but I digress. We like this little drive up shack of an ice cream/fast food store. I especially like it that you can drive up on both sides of it. Besides, with the drive-in theater right down the road, this place fits right in. Chocolate dipped in chocolate...that's what we like.

Yet another local favorite for my family and I. Every summer we come here at least once. Good food and great ice cream.

I would love to give Blue Moon a 5 star review, I really would, I just can't bring myself to do it. Granted, they have awesome comfort food like burgers, chili dogs, fries, etc. and the ice cream and frozen treat offerings are out of this world, a banana split in a huge cup, GENIUS! My biggest problem with the Blue Moon is the wait. It never fails, they are always busy and because of how they prepare everything there is always a wait. If you're in a hurry and you won't be next in line at the drive through I would suggest coming back later, but do come back because everything is delicious! I had a craving for a Root Beer Float yesterday so we got in the car and decided to go for a drive. In total, we got a large float, a swirl cone, onion rings, fry's, and I wanted to try the buffalo chips and we left with a $15 total, not too shabby if you ask me. Let me tell you a bit about the buffalo chips too. Buffalo Chips are potato slices that are seasoned with this delicious blend of spices, not too hot, just right, and then fried and served with ranch dressing. SOOOOOOOO GOOD! As always, we will be back, when time permits.

Great food and great prices. I love the size of the large shakes. The chili dogs are awesome. I wish they were open year round.
