Had a great first experience at the Blue Moose Bar & Grill. Plenty of parking outside. The restaurant was very clean and provided a nice “up north” feel. I was surprised to see it had 2nd floor dining as well. The service was friendly and quick. Food was hot and delicious. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area!

We were helping a university student move to a new place and just wanted to stop for a quick bite and a drink. The Blue Moose staff took care of us with cold drinks and the “tapas” were just right. Good mix of bar and family atmosphere.

I got the ahi tuna, for my first meal here, and it was cooked to perfection. A solid sear with a fresh center that was sliced into the best bite size pieces. Also the culture in the restaurant is palpable. I'm not from this area but they really made me feel at home here, great staff. The beer selection is vast and they have a variety of liquors. Oh yeah and the cheesecake is good. Huge love for the blue moose.

Google
Great service and very helpful waiter, great atmosphere. I am gluten-free, and they do NOT have gluten-free bread or buns, which is a bummer. They do still have options, however, and a gluten-free menu with a few appealing items. I got aged sirloin with a baked potato, and a side salad. The steak was pretty tiny for $30. The stuffed mushrooms were good and my wife enjoyed her salad. I think if we're in the area I wouldn't mind stopping by again but it wasn't my favorite experience.

We ordered the walleye sandwich and the broiled walleye with dill. Éverything was cooked to perfection and was seasoned well. I love the French onion soup here. Our waiter was very helpful and he gave good recommendations for us. Overall everything was yummy!

Got into town got set up at campground was told by park attendant that Blue Moose was good. Have to say the food would have been good, but. We ordered a appetizer way ahead of ordering the meal. Waitress came back to take our food order, about 10 min. later everything was brought to our table. Appetizer salad and meal, she said sorry we can take it back and put it under the warming light. Same answer from the manager, to bad in town for a week ,won't be back. Yes let's put our food under a light bulb just like McDonald's.

Excellent dinner experience here with the family while on an impromptu road trip. Hubby enjoyed his fusion Ruben with sweet potato waffle fries. I had a Caesar salad with sirloin steak and fries. Overall, very solid, though I wish the steak had more salt and pepper. We also had the pistachio cheesecake which was too sweet for me but my husband and son loved it. Great family-oriented restaurant!

Love coming here when I come back to visit my hometown. Can't get walleye in texas.

Yelp
A solid 4 stars. A pretty typical steakhouse, with similar vibes to a Longhorn, Texas Roadhouse, or Ponderosa. Plenty of parking, which is nice in the downtown area. Friendly young knowledgeable and courteous staff. Local beers on tap. I had the local morning squeeze IPA and it was delicious. Food was prepared to my liking and delivered fast, despite being busy. For appetizer, I had the peanut encrusted seared ahi tuna. It was served in a pickled slaw that was tangy and sweet. A perfect dish in my opinion My entree was a gorgonzola ribeye medium rare, which it was. Broccoli and augratin potatoes as my two sides. The broccoli was cooked perfectly and steaming hot when it arrived. The augratin was cheesy but wasn't the star of the show. For dessert I had the creme brulee and a cup of coffee. The creme brulee was tasty but I wish it had been charred on top a little more. The coffee was pretty warm but not hot. The one thing that might keep me from going back was the hard wood seating. It was a little rough on the hiney after about 20 mins. All in all, it satisfied and I enjoyed my experience.

Yelp
Food was just "good". Not bad, and not especially outstanding. The dining room has some nice ambiance, but I wasn't fan of young employees sprinting past our table trying to race each other to the restaurant office. Great views out the windows toward the river.

Yelp
Visiting From out of town, Went on a whim later on Mother's day. The food was really good with a great variety. Karter our server was so pleasant. The perfect MidWestern experience we were looking for to end our visit in ND/Minnesota

Yelp
Good options for food! The walleye was cooked well and came on a bed of rice (not one of the sides). The dill flavor was there but it wasn't seasoned with anything else but dill and could've used some salt. The portion for broccoli and fruit was pretty small. The outlaw burger was delicious, but a bit too much sauce for my husband. The fries were crispy and delicious. The restaurant was decorated in lots of taxidermy and animal pelts. Service was fast, nothing to complain about.

Yelp
They have a wide variety of items available on the menu. The service was excellent and the place is very clean and welcoming. The Walleye tasted great and they offer lots of choices for draft beers.

Yelp
We loved the ambience and the creative food combos. The kimchi perogi dish was great!

Yelp
My third time here and good each time The menu is full of lots of interesting items with a little twist that makes me want to try them. Like the Reuben with kimchi We had Fusion Reuben $15 and Chipotle Pork $13.25 sandwiches. Both were very good. We all got soup as our sides and enjoyed them. My wife had the asparagus and I had the fajita. Goliath Oktoberfest $13 was good. Sever Dani H was fine.

Yelp
Good service but the family must've come on a bad night. I saw my mother's salmon and thought it was chicken at first glance (severely overcooked). Sadly not only was the "salmon" petrified, me and my brother's steaks that are supposed to be the house favorite were very disappointing. Dry aged Ny strip? No, just a dry steak.

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff!! Was a Tuesday night but still busy. Love the rustic lodge setting, fits the name very well.

Yelp
LOVE IT!!! Even on UND "move in" weekend it's awesome! We arrived 730 pm & wait was 20 min, but we found seats at the bar, sat, and had dinner. About 5 min after sitting they texted that a table was ready...no need to worry about a wait. It's big and fun, great service and with the crowd no delay on food. I vouch for the local IPA and a spectacular hand made burger. Best of all: 3 beer & 2 burgers for $50.

Greg T.

Yelp
Good food and Service...the managers are always helpful for reserving spots for groups.

Yelp
I have returned several times to this restaurant because it is a favorite of others, and, I must say, my experience was much better than the first time. I got a burger recently (without the bun, since they don't have a GF one), and I must admit, it was damn good. I've had the baked walleye a couple of times and it is very good (a tiny bit pricey, though). Like so many others, I would recommend this place, but avoid their salads.

Yelp
My wife and niece went there for drinks and dinner. Oh my want a wonderful atmosphere kind of like a log cabin inside, but it was so nice We sat outside on the large deck overlooking the river. the service was prompt, Smiley, friendly and helpful with the menu. We had a couple different drinks, all of them were good. The wife and I split the walleye sandwich and their soup of the day which was a cheese chicken soup which was delicious the walleye sandwich they cut it in half for us and brought out with two plates. The chips were delicious. The walleye, I would definitely get it again, this is a very fun and relaxing place to have a drink, lunch or dinner

Yelp
Super nice staff and very good food. Nice place to visit while on a business trip to North Dakota.

Yelp
We arrived around 3pm & decided to eat outside, as it was gorgeous out. Through no fault of the establishment, every fly in the state joined us for lunch. We started with curds ($9), each ordered a beer ($7 per pour), I had a walleye sandwich ($19.25) & the hubs had the rueben ($14.75) Total after tax/tip was $75 for 2 I regret having ordered so many fried items, as the accumulation of them quickly became heavy. I ate about half of the fries & fish (breading was a bit thick) & left 3/4 of the bread. That's on me tho, I should have balanced my selections. The servings were not skimpy. The gal who helped us was great. She offered sides of ranch at ordering, checked in frequently, cleared quickly and was friendly. We passed on dessert, tho it was tempting.

Yelp
Blue Moose is one of the best options for a sit down restaurant that will please everyone of all ages. Great quality food at reasonable prices, a huge menu full of choices, a nice craft beer list, cabin-esque decor with a lot of taxidermy, friendly service, a huge indoor space with 2 levels of seating, a great patio overlooking the Red River- this place hits all the notes.
google avatar

Lynne A.

Yelp
Always my preferred lunch stop when I'm in the area. I've never had a bad meal there, and the service is above average as well. My favorites are the homemade soup which is usually an interesting combination such as sauerkraut and sausage, or cheeseburger. I also highly recommend the homemade salad dressings with blue cheese being my favorite. Eat on the outdoor deck if weather allows.
google avatar

Tricia W.

Yelp
This place is so good! Gorgeous building with indoor and outdoor seating, right on the Red River. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. I had the stuffed mushrooms that and lettuce wraps. Delish! I also enjoyed the creme brûlée for dessert - very tasty!

R.Neil K.

Yelp
The young staff was energetic and very friendly. They seem to have caught on to the idea of pleasing the customer. The food was very good also. Over all it was a great experience for me and all my friends and family. I hope to entertain my visitors here again.

Kallie S.

Yelp
We've been here twice thinking the second time would be better, but the food was still terrible and the burger is extremely dry. Service is fast and friendly though
google avatar

Colleen M.

Yelp
We came here because they have 40 beers on tap! Well for all us craft beer snobs, the tap selection here is sad, a few good crafts, but mostly domestic, or crafts that can be picked up at grocery stores. The service is friendly, but slow. Nice big outdoor patio, good sized food menue and large portions. We came for the beer, and will not be back for that same reason.

Yelp
My coworker and I were excited to try this place after hearing high praise for it from everyone in town and north of town. We came here for dinner on our final night in town and enjoyed the pretty view of the river. I had the walleye and was quite pleased with the way it was prepared. My coworker had the soup and pasta of the day and was also satiated. The restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived but there was open seating in the front lounge section by the windows. Parking was plentiful out front and the service was very good!

Yelp
I highly recommend this restaurant especially for any East Grand Forks/Grand Forks locals! They are always busy but not too busy that you have to wait before getting seated, and the servers have always been exceptional. I have been coming for years and leave every time in a mini food coma state because the food is so good. Wish I could try their dessert but I can never make it until then... maybe one day. This time I got the cowboy nachos which I've had before so I knew it would be great. The creamy BBQ sauce layered between the tortilla chips, cheese, and veggies is to die for! It is technically an appetizer but is also a really great portion if you decide to make it your meal since it's only $12. We also ordered the Guinness Burger which consisted of the patty being marinated in Guinness and then topped with cheese, chipotle mayo, and haystack onions. It's a rich burger but so flavorful that I definitely recommend it. The sweet potato fries cost a little extra but are my favorite. Their regular fries are great too. Blue moose has something for everyone; pasta, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, entrees, etc. I have never ordered something that wasn't good, so check them out for yourself!

Yelp
Great staff! Love how the servers are prompt and check on you even when just walking by to another table!

Yelp
This bar and grill is very in character with Grand Forks, ND. I tried Walleye for the first time and it was pretty good! The protons are generous... it's a lot of food! The French onion soup was super yummy too. We had a big group and service was spotty but I get it. It's tough for one waitress to take care of a bunch of people. Overall not too shabby! I would recommend calling ahead for a reservation if you have a large group.

Yelp
This place was stellar a few years ago, but has slowly been going down the drain. The barely spicy chicken wrap and the spinach dip were my go-tos, but now they're...eh. Additionally, the last few times I have eaten here, there have been several flies flying around my table which is quite embarrassing when I take visiting family here under the impression that it's a good restaurant. I would recommend this place, but it wouldn't be my first recommendation. Which is so sad to say because I used to love this restaurant.

Lindsey T.

Yelp
$14 for 3 frozen chicken tenders. Doesn't come with a side. First experience there. Menu is all over the place.

Yelp
The Blue Moose was recommended by the hotel staff member during my stay at Grand Forks North Dakota. Needed to know what a local would recommend to travelers....well she pointed me to the right direction! The Blue Moose had a great selection of local brew beers, the food was really good & they had an appetizer called "black & blue balls" hahahaha. My friend tried it just for laughs & giggles of ordering it...well it was actually good. Their menu selection was geared up for October Fest types of food...so plenty of German style food. Our server was super funny and friendly but she didn't have a North Dakota accent....I was really looking forward to talking to someone with that accent but I never found one. She recommended their bite size cheese cake dessert & I ordered it. When it came they were actual slices of three yummy desserts. I asked if that is what they consider "bite size" & she said oh yeah...then I replied "well Texas is doing it wrong!". I recommend going to The Blue Moose Bar & Grill if ever you make your to Grand Forks North Dakota. FYI...the place is actually located in the Minnesota side of Grand Forks.

Yelp
The sausage and sauerkraut soup after our workout today was amazing! I don't remember the last time that I asked the waitstaff to relay my appreciation to the kitchen. Our server was very good also!
google avatar

Darlene B.

Yelp
The walleye was perfect and so thick. It was Panko covered and pan fried. The walleye can be broiled if you want a healthier version. My second was French fries. Which were thin and extra crispy, not greasy at all. The wedge salad had cucumbers and boiled eggs. The waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and food. The atmosphere is a little boisterous. I loved the decor inside and outside. All about North Dakota.
google avatar

T S.

Yelp
I love the blue moose but the last 4 times I tried placing a pick up order they say they're not accepting orders over the phone. If you are so busy and can't take extra orders, then hire more people or don't advertise pick up orders. Service is always good, food is good, but pick up orders and online ordering is the future, better get up with the times.

Yelp
Came here on a trip to visit family, and this place was recommended. We had excellent service (waitress was friendly and attentive), but that's about all I can say that's positive. The place is lively, but there were kids running around the restaurant the entire hour and a half we were there. I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad, which was so bad I couldn't try a second bite. I stole from our shared plate of chips and queso (very thin) and had a beer. Why is the word oriental used multiple times in the menu??? Jesus. As an Asian person I'd never come here again.
google avatar

Lacey B.

Yelp
Hey the corn jalapeño chowder or sausage chowder! It is so so good. I also love the fusion Rueben which had kimchi instead of sauerkraut. This is our favorite place to go after a Sioux game. Usually not packed after a game but fun atmosphere with other fans. Pop in and see Rachel sometime. Great service and she will remember your order if you come in enough!
google avatar

Steve D.

Yelp
A great place got even better! We get into town a few times a year and this place is worth checking out! Nice menu, big selection of beer, specialty cocktails, and you have to try the spicy spinach queso dip. Service is friendly and just overall great atmosphere.

Yelp
My dad would come here years ago on business trips, so we decided to come for our road trip. Mom said that the fish was some of the best she's had. The soups were delicious, and I enjoyed the salad with the poppyseed dressing. We ate outside and truly enjoyed the atmosphere and fresh air. Our server was attentive and kept our drinks filled. Wish we lived closer so that we could enjoy more often!

Yelp
Mac and cheese is Great!!! Desert sampler is supper tasty!! Drinks are cold. Fantastic place to visit.

Yelp
The indoor is like being in a log cabin. There's a nice outdoor seating area with a view of the river. We sat outside. It was shaded and had a nice breeze. They have a variety of beers to pick from. The pistachio cream ale was an easy beer to sip on. Ordered the lettuce wraps as an appetizer. The portion of chicken was pretty small compared to the amount of lettuce given. To make 3 lettuce wraps you could only put about 1.5 table spoons of meat in it. The bourbon street chicken pasta was absolutely delicious. It was slightly sweet with a kick of heat. I substituted the penne for angel hair. Service was quick to come and take orders, and deliver the food, but it was slow with water refills and payment.

Jaime R.

Yelp
We sat for over 20 minutes and were never even acknowledged. No one took a drink order. The waitress didn't even make eye contact. She went to a table next to us 3 times. They were delivered their food after we were seated and were almost finished when we left.
google avatar

Yelp
The Walleye was fresh and cooked perfectly. The staff was wonderful, especially the Manager who was hands on ( he went to the basement to find green tea for my Sister)!! Excellent place to eat for out of town visitors.

Yelp
Big ole' restaurant in East Grand Forks. We came with a party of about 40, and they were great at accommodating us. We sat upstairs, I do wish we could have been seated together we were a bit separated so it made it hard to socialize, which was a bummer. The servers were amazing with this size group, never flustered, always friendly and were johnny on the spot with drinks, apps, entree. It didn't take forever and was timed perfectly. Hats off to them for making that happen, a group of 40 starving social workers is a rowdy bunch. The food was excellent, I got a special burger which had corned beef on a pretzel bun, absolutely excellent but I couldn't finish it I was so full from the apps. Nachos very good, get the BBQ chicken it is a nice twist. The stuffed mushrooms and pretzel sticks were also delicious. The spinach dip had a nice kick to it. Everyone liked their meals, definitely no complaints. The drink menu is outstanding, huge selection of local beers, plenty of cocktails and something for everyone. It is all reasonably priced. I was surprised they didn't add gratuity to our size group, so don't stiff them if you are a large group, be aware of that. I obviously don't come this way often, being from NJ but if I do, this has been on of my favorite places to eat in the area. Definitely give them a try.

Robin W.

Yelp
The boneless wings were overcooked and the cheese curds were also overcooked and stuck together with many hollow insides. Would not recommend this place. I didn't take pictures of the food though but I wish I had. Also I paid for the food

Yelp
I've been coming to Blue Moose my whole life as a native to the area. Many summer afternoons I've enjoyed several drinks and appetizers on the patio overlooking the river. When the weather is right, it's just something you cannot beat. Service is always impeccable and I've never had anything here that I haven't enjoyed food or beverage wise. I'm always impressed with the service as it is a college town and a lot of the staff rotate out as the years go on, yet consistently everything else stays the same. I love it. This is always a favorite spot of mine to stop when I come home for the holidays. Do yourself a favor and get the buffalo chicken salad, breaded, with two ranches. You'll thank me later.

Jill M.

Yelp
No time to be BLUE here! The food and service are top notch. I would highly recommend the beer list and mules! Wowza. Dom, The Bartender was kind, informative, and had wonderful suggestions. As a traveling business trip it is hard to find pure genuine energy. Belly up and be happy because energy is shared - always a choice I will be back next month!

Yelp
Your grilled cheese is amazing and the desert is magical and so is your noodles and the milkshakes

Yelp
So good. Love the ambiance and decor. The food was great! Service was perfect. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
A great family restaurant that features so many delicious options. The food and drinks are always amazing and I appreciate how well most of the staff does their jobs. Whenever there may be a bit of a wait on food or drinks, the server has communicated that. It's a fun atmosphere and the outdoor deck is a must in the summer.

K S.

Yelp
Absolutely love coming here! Very cute vacation lake house vibe and have patio seating for the nice summer days. They do get a little busy on the weekends so expect a little wait for a table but you can always grab a seat at the bar. Great food and beer/cocktail menu, I've never ordered something I didn't like! Highly recommend the bourbon street pasta. The employees are always so helpful and accommodating especially in the bar! I always recommend this place to family when they are in town to visit!

Yelp
Such a fun place! First time in the area and I totally recommend. I got the stuffed jalapeños and they were hot but i'm a spicy girl so it WAS GOOD. I got the bruschetta lettuce wraps (because they are seasonal) and they were good but pretty watery. If you're a big bruschetta fan I recommend, if you're on the fence with something else get elsewhere. Very yummy!!!!

Wyoming H.

Yelp
Good food. Good prices. Decent atmosphere. It's nice to sit and stare out over the river and watch it slowly flow by. Service is solid too. Hard to beat for a casual night out or business lunch.
