Delicious Italian food! Fresh bread and dipping oil was a fabulous start. Meatballs were moist, tasty and tender with delightful sauce. Entrees burst with flavor! Wine pairing was perfect. Come and enjoy a wonderful Italian meal.

The owner / chef came out and let us know the details of each dish. He is a nice and talkative person. Their service is excellent and their dishes are very delicious.

I was here for a early dinner after my 5hr train trip, found this place right across the hotel. It did not disappoint at all. I work at an Italian restaurant in Brooklyn NY, and let me tell you this food is delicious. I tried the special salad with watermelon, cantaloupe and cucumber (so refreshing), what’s even best is that they offer warm delicious bread with oil before your meal arrives. The lady that took my order was very gentle and sweet, they were a little busy but they did their best and i really enjoyed it. I will totally come back. :) Thanks

Google
Friendly staff serving great food. Yum! I got take out because I thought it would be too fancy for me to dine in. I can't wait to go back & have a leisurely dinner, in an inviting atmosphere. The Cesar salad was the best I've ever had! The cacio e pepe was out of this world. The combination of pepper & cheese with the homemade pasta, knocked my socks off. Go for the fun of it & stay for the high quality food options. 😃

Google
Travellers, this restaurant is a gem in the heart of downtown Brattleboro. Everything we had was delicious and expertly prepared. The chef uses fine ingredients and it shines through in his Italian food. The cacio y pepe was excellent and used fine pecorino romano. The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious too. We recommend you try the pesto and the steak piziaolo, which were both delicious in a serious way. The sides, which are often neglected in some restaurants, shine bright at blue buffalo. And the Italian fries are delightful, a scene stealer. The mozzarella sticks were delicious and the calamari was tasty and crispy but still tender. The Caesar salad was also wonderful, good cheese and real anchovies! Dessert was also wonderful, the kids loved the fudgie brownie came with a marvelous vanilla ice cream. For me the the homemade carrot cake was the perfect way to end the meal. This was a wonderful Italian restaurant that had a great selection the ability to execute it all well. Check it out. We definitely recommend.

Google
Can't believe we have not visited this lovely little spot before. Completely unpretentious, warm, personal... delicious wines and incredible homemade pastas and bread. Could barely fit them in, but ended our meal with freshly made cannolis new favorite spot!

We were able to get a reservation last minute for a party of 3 on valentines day. Service was fantastic as was the food and the chef visited each table to check in. We will definitely return. Thank you for a delicious meal and lovely evening.

Google
They were short staffed the night we visited on our anniversary, and somehow still impressed with very kind and proactive service. The food was next level delicious, and although the day was rather gloomy, the mood lighting and the view of the old theater across the street made it feel cinematic.

Yelp
This is shaping up to be a better vacation, food-wise, than we expected. Yay! We've stayed at B&Bs in Brattleboro for years, and this year in nearby NH, and we like to eat dinner in Brattleboro. This year, for the first time, we tried Blue Moose Bistro and found it to be wonderful! We started by sharing a special, a marvelous farro salad with spinach and chèvre. This was really delicious. I was tired and chose not to drink but tasted my husband's glass of montepulciano; it was a lovely red. Then my husband ordered the salmon and I had the pappardelle special. He loved his fish, served with vegetables. I asked our friendly cheerful waitress which she'd recommend; I was trying to decide between the pappardelle and the cacio e pepe. She thought for a bit and then suggested the pappardelle because it was extremely hot weather and she thought the lemony accent would be refreshing. I went with her choice and I have to say it was amazing! Very very good, and the lemon was indeed a bright note. We had plenty of time before heading to a concert, so we shared a tiramisu for dessert. Can't go wrong with tiramisu. A gentleman who was dining solo chatted with us. He lives in Brattleboro and told us that he makes a point of eating at this restaurant at least once a month. He and the chef were on a first name basis, Tom and Ken are the names I think I heard. Nice when locals eat at a place; I guess it keeps the good places in business out of season. We'll have to eat at Blue Moose again when we go back next year, and we definitely recommend it to you!

Yelp
A chef-owned restaurant where the pasta is made in-house. On my first visit, I tried the Rigatoni alla Zozzone, which included bits of sausage, pork belly, a raw egg yoke, and other decadent ingredients. Unlike any pasta dish I've tried and amazing delicious, with layers of flavor. Second visit, I tried the Bucatini, and that was less interesting. The pasta was al dente but the 'chew' wasn't quite what I liked. In both visits, I was also disappointed by the lack of meat/protein. I also asked if I could just get a piece of chicken or salmon on the side or on top of the pasta, but the answer I got was to order an entree. We settled on getting the meatball appetizer, but I would have just preferred a hunk of chicken or something. Service generally was efficient, with a homey vibe, but otherwise slightly inconsistent in style and substance. From one person, I got a fine-dining pleasant vibe, and from another, I got a more funny, cocky persona. Neither was bad, just different. However, a couple of small misses on front-of-house service, like when I declined ordering a drink to start and the server immediately snatched away the wine menu. I was about to ask about food and then think about the wine pairing, so would have needed the wine menu for a moment later. This insensitivity to what I consider to be basic restaurant dining practices was somewhat odd to me. Ambiance was nice.

Yelp
I'm giving Blue Moose Bistro three stars--not because I didn't enjoy my dining experience, but because of the limited options available for those with dietary restrictions like mine (vegan and gluten-free). I completely understand that this is an authentic pasta-focused restaurant, and they do that very well. However, I would've really appreciated even just one gluten-free pasta or a hearty plant-based entrée. I ended up ordering a selection of sides, which were undeniably delicious and well-prepared, but it left me wishing there was a main course option that fit my needs. That said, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant itself is quaint, cozy, and tucked away in Brattleboro, VT. It's a lovely spot for those looking for a nicer dining experience and some truly authentic pasta. I'd love to return if they expand their menu to include more inclusive options!

Yelp
I usually don't spend the time to write a review, but I was compelled to. The food and the ambiance was excellent and the gentleman serving us (who I assumed was the owner) was charming. If I lived near here, I would be a regular.

Teresa L.

Yelp
Delicious Caesar salad, homemade fettuccine followed by a perfect cannoli! I would recommend this unassuming little place. Service was friendly !

Yelp
Amazing Chef Ken produces some of the best Italian and Sicilian dishes in the area. His chitarra style cacio e pepe you will not find anywhere in the area. Small restaurant with few tables so get your reservation in. Ken graciously visits each table during the evening to chat about the food.

Yelp
Lovely dishes prepared and served by an artisan. The bistro was very busy but the server was an expert. A good experience.

Yelp
What a find we weren't expecting ! The food was honestly top quality . Pasta was authentic and fresh .

Adf P.

Yelp
Rubber chicken in tomato water with a slice provolone from the deli. The low-quality food is only matched the arrogant, grumpy little owner man. Do better...or not.

Yelp
First of all the location is pretty hard to find the sign is not very obvious.when you come in the Decour is pretty depressing it's not very lively doesn't have a very good ambience ! The food as was mediocre at best & the prices of the food don't match the service or feel of the place ! The menu is extremely limited and when you ask the server or the owner not sure who he was or what his position is but he made you feel stupid for asking also they have the smallest beverage list & not very kid friendly as they have no kid options ! When we asked for cheese the server simply said " you NEED MORE" ?? Even though this was our first time asking ! -Also salmon was vry salty & I found it odd they chopped it up !! This is more advice than a review to the establishment HAVE A BETTER ATTITUDE & maybe there will be more Customers /Better tip :)

Yelp
Stop on Friday night for a dinner. Food was tasty but the interior of the place could be cleaner. The waiter was awesome.

Catherine P.

Yelp
The older server/chef needs a refresher on customer service. When I was served the wrong dish and his response was "well that's what was on the ticket". He had terrible attitude for someone we were expected to tip. Food was nothing special. My partner's food was undercooked, but we didn't say anything because of our server's disposition. The space has seen some pretty serious wear and tear. There were marks all over the walls and noticeable dust/comb webs. The menus we were handed were crumpled and stained -- like come on, print new ones! We picked this restaurant because it was one of the only places in town that offered a few vegetarian dishes, but it's safe to say it was NOT worth it. Only tipped 20% because as a former server, I understand depending on tips.

Yelp
While visiting Brattleboro, we stopped in one night to have dinner at the Blue Moose. The restaurant was also recommended by the owners of the B & B where we were staying. From the moment we entered it was a great experience. We were seated at a table at the window. The Chef came out and helped us with a wine choice, and the wine turned out to be fabulous and paired beautifully with our meal. The pasta dishes were absolutely scrumptious and the service excellent. Would definitely dine again when in town.

Yelp
The folks at Blue Moose apparently think it's their business to decide how patrons should raise their children and conduct their private lives. Bigotry has no place in our city! Staff repeatedly refused to address customers by their correct pronouns despite several attempts at correction, and indicated that the customers' children were "impressionable," and shouldn't be exposed to... their parents!? Disgusting conduct. There are LOTS of open and accepting dining options in town. Reject bigotry and choose another one.

Doug R.

Yelp
We came in as a party of five on a Thursday night. Our service was quick and friendly. We ordered a few appetizers, a variety of pasta dishes, and a couple cannolis for dessert. The food was really good - a step above your basic Italian fare. The interior could use some improvement, and parking in this part of Brattleboro is always a pain, but other than that it was a pleasant experience. I'd recommend this restaurant to others.

Yelp
A great place for free WiFi and good food! Cafe Lotus is pretty popular with the college crowd, which is located in the back of the Blue Moose Gift & Gallery. This artsy cafe serves up a healthy menu for breakfast and lunch using organic and local ingredients and they brew Rao's Coffee (organic). The menu offerings include hot/cold embellishments (coffee, espresso, cappuccino, lattes, chai, tea, cocoa, Coke products, & more), breakfast dishes (eggs, etc), baked goods, desserts, salads, paninis, special dishes, and bottled drinks. The food can take some time to be ready since the food is made to order. I love their Pad Thai, a light vegetarian version with tofu and their Mediterranean Panini with goat cheese is pretty tasty too! This cafe is a cell phone free zone and offers free WiFi access. The place has plenty of seating, but the tables are reserved for parties of 2 or more, so most single folks were seated along the right wall. There's also a quiet WiFi back room too! PARKING: If you park along the street, be sure to watch the meter (Mon-Sat), the Town parking regulations are strictly enforced.

Yelp
The food here -- I can't recommend it enough. Authentic-tasting Italian and the chicken parm was spiced and seasoned to perfection. So glad we came here!!

Yelp
$138 plus tip for 2 spaghettis which were decent, 2 ceaser salads which were very good, 2 cannoli's which were also pretty good, one bottle of wine which was pretty much garbage but whatever..... tack on another $30 to the bill..... overall it was not bad but not the best that it could be. Overall overpriced!!! Try harder and with more love and culture.
google avatar

Jeffrey J.

Yelp
Maybe the best meatballs I have ever had at a restaurant. Tender and tasty in a hearty well-seasoned sauce. The portion was just right, although the pasta was over-sauced. Could have done with half as much. The flavor, however, was great.
google avatar

Patti M.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Should have thought to take a pic! Everything hot, fresh and delicious - wonderful service!!!
google avatar

Mike V.

Yelp
Excellence in Italian food. Quaint setting... Homemade meatballs and pasta to the nines! Friendly and committed about what they do bringing family style Italian cuisine to quaint Brattleboro.

Yelp
After a difficult day finding good food the lovely staff at Latchis Hotel recommended this restaurant (conveniently located across the street). OMG!!! So good! Warm bread was served with a creamy melt in your mouth mascarpone butter and chili dipping oil. Then we ordered the meatball appetizer-delicious! I indulged in linguini with tomatoes, olive oil and basil. The pasta is homemade and the sauce was so light the pasta was allowed to speak for itself...and it did! And then came dessert-a flourless chocolate torte. I am in chocolate heaven Please, when you come to Brattleboro come to this restaurant. The food is sooooo good and the people are friendly and made us feel welcomed and comfortable.
google avatar

Jerry T.

Yelp
GR8 Food & friendly environment in the heart of downtown. Had the linguine & it was awesome. Low key atmosphere with GR8 people out front & a friggin' genius whipping up dishes.
google avatar

Yelp
Zero stars. Very rude and impolite hostess. To add to the insult, food was overpriced and dis not taste good. This place is a total shame to the beautiful town of Brattleboro. This was my first bad experience in a restaurant ever. I wonder how this place got so many positive reviews. It is a scam.

Rebecca K.

Yelp
It was our first visit to the Blue Moose. Tender meatballs, yummy piccata. The only concerns were slightly too much butter on my sons' pastas and because it is small, the kitchen can get backed up. Great waiter and a cute spot for dinner.
google avatar

Vio L.

Yelp
The bad: - Even though we had a reservation, we were given the worst table right by the kitchen. We asked for a table by the window, were told no bc "she has another reservation for later". Both window tables ended up staying empty rest of the night. - The place was filled with smoke. Not sure what was burning, but we saw and smelled smoke the entire duration of our dinner. - The food was mediocre. Tuna "puttanesca" special was quite bad. - Uncomfortable chairs. The good: - they try really hard - the bread was great.

Yelp
We never even got to try the food, the service was inflexible and shockingly pretentious, by Boston standards. We were a party of six and some are admittedly picky. The waitress was polite, but the chef was extremely unwilling to make any modifications to the dishes on the limited menu. The last straw was after we asked the waitress if we could substitute pine nut pesto for almond pesto (both of which were on the menu), due to an almond allergy and the waitress said no: "The chef doesn't like to modify his dishes". Our party of six walked out of the nearly empty restaurant after that. Why is the restaurant so rigid? Either the chef is a strictly uncompromising artist or the food is frozen and prepped ahead of time and unable to be altered; either is a poor way to operate a business that serves others.

Yelp
The grilled cheese (three types of fresh cheese) is worth stopping for, I am a burger person but I would consider sacrificing the burger for this grilled cheese,it is the best ever. The burger is a hand made 1/2 pound of ground steak on fresh soft bread. The burger is a must!

Yelp
Who'd have thought that culinary inspiration could spring forth from Brattleboro,VT but Ken Flutie has brought Tuscany to the Green Mountain State. His creative dishes and penchant for mind blowing tastes should make anyone traveling through this area get off the interstate. Jocelyn serves as if you are the only one in the place and is unobtrusively attentive. The surprise bread course will wow even the most critical of diners. Tried the zucchini and summer squash with fresh tomato pasta, the skirt steak, and nonna's meatballs all which are outstanding. The many offered salads are not to be skipped. Succulent flourless chocolate tort pairs well with a fine chianti. Come one, come all, but do not miss this dining experience.

Yelp
The food at this restaurant was great and the decor was nice. I had a bad experience because I really disliked the waiter I had by the name of " Mark". Mark kept publicly shaming me in front of my friends for being on my phone during the meal. I have had many waiters in my day and he was the worst. Probably the only waiter I never wanted to give a tip to in my life. Why would a waiter publicly shame and humiliate me over 5 times in a row when I was clearly uncomfortable?
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
This is one of the greatest places I've ever ate at! The waitress was amazingly friendly and super attentive. The chef came out to talk with us and deliver our main coarse. They make you feel like home being there. Highly recommended to anyone stopping in Brattleboro! Yes...the food was hand made and amazing !

Marykate M.

Yelp
Service was great. Food was overpriced for pretty good food. I got the pesto pasta and it was like I was eating a bowl of pesto with a few noodles. Other than that, pretty good overall.

Katy C.

Yelp
Amazing food and fun from the heart service! We split stuffed clams which were lovely. The table ordered eggplant with parm, fettuccine Marsala & the amazing Maryland blue crab ravioli with a pink vodka sauce. All divine! Oh & a side of broccolini which was perfectly cooked, lemony garlic heaven. Perfect evening!
google avatar

Tony E.

Yelp
We have had dinner here several times. Friendly staff and good food. A reasonable selection and prices for a small place. Good wine list and the proprietor is happy to help with the selection. We had the salmon, which was mouth watering and shrimp pasta. Chocolate Flowerless Torte, Rice Pudding, and Pana cotta for desert. Mmm.

Rae E.

Yelp
Not recommended if you'd like to be treated with respect by the chef/owner. Not only was he inflexible ( with no other customers in the place) about making vegetarian alterations, but he intentionally misgendered us despite us asking him not to, and lectured us on how to raise kids ( in front of the kids) to use "proper" gendered terms to refer to us and themselves! Not LGBTQ friendly. Try Duo in town instead!
google avatar

Yelp
We were headed to Whetstone for dinner, but found they had a long wait. Boy am I glad we changed plans and came to Blue Moose instead! It wasn't loud and crowded; it was peaceful, quiet, and there was no wait. And the food and service were both excellent! I can't recommend Blue Moose highly enough. We will be back next time we're in Brattleboro!

Henry Qizhong W.

Yelp
Sat 8 pm. As I saw two empty tables with 2 chairs each, asked if we (a group of 4 people) can dine in. The waitress replied: sir, you gotta wait for 15 min. I asked whether we can join the tables, she brutally interrupted: sir, 15 min, tell me yes or no? Very interesting serving standard.

Yelp
Love this place. Everytime I visit I order something new and am blown away. This time I ordered salmon with kale and pickled veggies and was skeptical because the pickled veggies didn't sound great but it was so amazing. I ate every bite and the veggies were my favorite part.
google avatar

Geoff C.

Yelp
Recently had a very good meal here. Wife - medallions of beef, me - duck. Both very good, in actual fact one of the best meals ever. Gets a little crowded as the tables are close by but this really adds to the ambiance. It's pricey, but you get good food cooked to a T. A selection of beers and the house Red is excellent.

Yelp
I have been coming to Brattleboro, VT. Since childhood, and never could say I ever had an exceptional meal, tonight I did,,,the owner cook Ken, waitress Elizabeth..went over the top, you know when the chef visits the tables he is proud of his workI stared with a romaine and radiscio salad, very lightly dressed in a vinegarette..perfect, I had the Boneless Panko bread chicken with tomatoes and mushroom sauce, I opted for only a hint of the fontina cheese, another plus, everything is fresh and made to order. The Blue Moose Bistro is located on 39 Main St. Directly across from Latches Theatre, parking lots and garage nearby on the Latches side...Do not pass this place by very interesting menu.

Yelp
Went here tonight for dinner after walking around downtown Brattleboro. Very cute place, menu looked interesting. They make homemade pasta, which we did not try. I had the puttanesca, which was good (wish it came with the homemade pasta). My wife had a special pumpkin ravioli, which was too sweet and covered in too much sauce...it was more like a desert. I'd go again to try other food, but for the service. We got there at 7:10, and it took about 15 minutes to get our drink menu in - the waitress said there was some confusion over who was covering our table...ok honest mistake, though there are only around 10 tables in the place. Once we ordered, it took almost 40 more minutes to get our SALAD. We were going to a movie right across the street, and let the waitress know that we'd been there almost an hour, had not gotten apps yet, and needed to get to a movie in 30 minutes. They managed to get our entree's to us but we were a little rushed. There is no reason we could not have gotten 2 salads within 10 minutes after putting in the order...was just a house salad. Be willing to try again, but beware...

Emily G.

Yelp
Cozy atmosphere, very nice waitstaff and owner. Ended up here after another local place was too slammed (long wait and chaotic) and I am so happy we did. Food was amazing, had one of the specials. Really special food and place! Everyone eating was friendly and happy, too, clearly a great experience for all. They DO take credit cards!!!!!

Yelp
What a great little shop (and cafe)! Located just a block off the main street, this little shop offers all sorts of interesting home decor items, as well as a full cafe in the back portion of the store. We didn't try the cafe but we did do some shopping. I ended up buying a wooden piece made by a local artist. The shopper owner (I think it's Paul) was amazing -- we had just gotten into town and asked for dinner recommendations. He pulled out a map for us and marked all the best spots to eat. He really went above and beyond in helping us out!

Yelp
I had a delightful dinner here on a recent Saturday night. The place was cozy and warm with the room buzzing from everyone enjoying their evening. The food is delicious and clearly freshly made. The service was attentive, and the chef came out to each table to check in. Nice touch. I'll definitely go back again and do some Xmas shopping in the store.

Yelp
Nice small restaurant easy to miss in downtown Bratt, just across from the latchis theater. Good home cooked food, friendly atmosphere. Used to be on high street.
google avatar

Yelp
Our dinner at Blue Moose Bistro was really quite delightful. The small dining room was cozy but not crowded, the waitress was present and friendly but gave us space, and the flavors were fresh. I liked the fact that my fettuccine al fredo (with pancetta and peas) was not too cream-sauce heavy, and my husband enjoyed his gnocchi. The rice pudding was divine.

Yelp
Great food, great atmosphere, doesn't seem much on the outside but would highly recommend stopping and having dinner at the Blue Moose Bistro. Food was fresh and excellent.

Yelp
Sherry and Chef outdid themselves for New Years Eve! What a great meal, each dish was familiar yet fresh. Four courses yet you are not weighed down. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
A great place to grab a bite before or after seeing a movie across the street. Solid Italian wine selection with a generous pour. Fresh pasta and excellent homemade meatballs. Friendly service and reasonable prices, what's not to like?
