I've always been a fan of Harumama, but unfortunately, my visit this past weekend was disappointing. We waited about 40 minutes to be seated--not unreasonable for a Friday--but the experience quickly went downhill from there.
Our server, Glo, gave off a strong "I don't want to be here" vibe from the start, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. We were told the bartender had called out, so Glo was also making the drinks. We placed our drink orders as soon as we sat down, but they didn't arrive until we were more than halfway through our meal. When she finally brought them over, she said, "If they're too sweet, let me know"--and unfortunately, they were pretty bad.
The food itself was just okay, nowhere near as memorable as I remembered from past visits.
The worst part of the experience came at the end. We asked to split the bill evenly, which came out to $67 each. We paid and began to leave, only to be stopped at the door by Glo, who said, in front of other customers, "Wait, I didn't charge you enough--that's why the meal was so cheap." It was embarrassing and unprofessional. We then had to re-run our cards, this time for $100 each.
Between the poor service, the long wait for drinks, average food, and the awkward handling of the bill, this experience left a really bad impression. I hope this feedback helps improve the service and training going forward, but honestly, I'm not sure I'll be back.
