The Best Waterfront Restaurant Views in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"Harumama’s picture-worthy character buns and Blue Ocean’s sashimi make this joint venture a delectable combination. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer diners a 180-degree view of La Jolla’s sprawling shoreline. Start off with some nigiri and light appetizers — consider the Japanese oysters or karaage chicken — before moving on to the mains such as sushi rolls, noodles, hot dishes, poke bowls, and salads. Don’t leave without trying a steamy character bao bun with animal designs (cow, pig, chicken, bunny, and unicorn). Take the fun home with a to-go bun box with either savory or sweet buns, or both." - Roxana Becerril

The food here was very good, the bulgogi fries were kind of soggy at the bottom, but very delicious nonetheless. The calamari was great, and the broths for the noodles were also amazing. Sushi rolls were also very flavorful. The dessert was good, but it’s more stunt food than anything amazing. Overall, I would come visit this place again, very enjoyable experience with a nice ocean view.

Google
A bit pricey but everything we tried we loved aside from the piggy bao buns. It tasted more like an Italian meatball. My favorite side was the corn cheese! Best one I've had in SD. The chicken bun tacos were to die for too! Will definitely be back. Shout out to Sophia, best hostess and excellent customer service!! We were really impressed.

Google
Harumama is known for their ramen and cute animal-designed buns and the vibes by ocean are just perfect. It felt like customer service was a bit slow when we visited but maybe because we were just starving for food. Either way, it was a great way to wrap up the day after visiting Torrey Pines day. The yellowtail jalapeno roll is fresh and flavorful with a tangy sauce. The grilled hanachi kama tasted soft, and the ribeye terayaki was a flavor blast with the softest beef pieces. The character buns are adorable, memorable, and tasty. The bun is so soft and both the cow beef and bunny Nutella buns are a great pick!

Google
Good spot and good service. The view of the ocean is for sure the best part. Food is pretty good, I got ramen and my friends loved their meals. We did share their very popular animal buns, I was not a fan and I wouldn't get them again. Pretty overpriced too. Nothing about this place really stood out. I'd come here again for that view....

Google
Came in for a weekday lunch while in the area. The food was absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh. The restaurant was stunning, and we got seated right away. Unfortunately the service was not the best. Our food didn't come out at the same time and we had to go inside to request for soy, silverware, and straws. We absolutely loved the views and the sushi was incredible, we will be back.

Google
This restaurant was DELICIOUS and fairly priced! It can be difficult to be full and not break the bank when visiting Cali, but this place does it right. Every dish was beautiful, delicious, and filling. I had a poke bowl, which was one of the best I've ever tasted! My son's girlfriend had sushi, one son had a bento box, and the husband and other son both ordered ramen. All were spectacular! I don't know if it would be possible to order something bad off this menu. Pretty views of the water and very friendly service!!

Google
This is a solid fusion spot and there aren’t any bad options on the menu. That being said, the value might not be there. But given that it is La Jolla, I guess that’s a given. Service was adequate and satisfactory considering the amount of dollar signs on the menu. Portions certainly were large enough and the quality of the food was excellent. Sashimi was perfectly cut and prepared and the ramen had fantastic broth. The patio is a very nice area but if you’re not sitting immediately at the railing, views are very limited. Wait times for food varied on the dish, but getting a table during lunch hour midweek was a nonissue. Overall a good experience. Very much recommend if you are looking to get a hearty meal that was clearly prepared with passion in an upscale yet attainable area.

Google
Recommend this place of you want the best of everything! Service was on time ,thoughtful , and diligent. The food was fresh, delicious, and just phenomenal ! Atmosphere was tranquil, good music too . Next time, I hope to sit right by the window, our view was still lovely. Thank you again ,till next time !

Yelp
Love, love, love Harumama. It's not only a beautiful location in La Jolla but the food is always delicious. I have only gotten the ramen, and it never disappoints. I recently tried their Crispy chicken Ramen and the chicken was so yummy! Also their character buns are so cute.

Yelp
We had an excellent time and experienced top quality service. Our server treated us very well and took care of our table. I recommend ordering the Padre roll it was by far my favorite and most delicious sushi roll we had! I recommend putting your name on the list and then walking to George's on the Cove and ordering a cocktail.

Yelp
LADIES LADIES IF I SHAKE MY OMAKASE BOX WILL U LET ME DO MY WORK TYPE SHIFT!!! i feel like that mustve been what johan was thinking the entire time he was waiting on us because i fear we were BOTHERING HIM! he was such a fun guy tho and we were so glad to be humored by him ‍ because he told us a lot about the inner workings of the music playlist going on at this place... the secret of which is A LOT OF IT IS PANDORA RADIO! yeah... we heard a few crazy vibe shifts such as adele's someone like you right into WEEZER BUDDY HOLLY... LINKIN PARK's in the end into.... ISRAEL KAMAKAWIWO'OLE's SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW???????? head over heels laughing in our corner ok. the food was great too tho genuinely one of the best sushi places ive ever had outside of japan, phenomenal fish quality at a great price for the 9pc omakase box!!! that is my top recommendation. for $55 that was a huge steal especially getting uni and toro in our pieces WOOOOOO!!!!! my friend also got the japanese oysters and said they were good, i think they come with ponzo masago and green onions on a raw oyst' and he said the oyster itself was great sooooooo. PERIOD!!! that seaside window view is SPLENDERIFOUS, as well, so yes the ambiance is one of a kind... also all of the staff seem really great!!! i didnt catch her name but one of the front of house people got me a water while i was waiting to be seated THANK U BFF!!! and on our way out a runner told us to have a FANTASTIC DAY!!! :D WE TOTALLY DID, DUDE!!!! Yelp
What a wonderful experience dining at this restaurant, food are awesome with complementary dessert for birthday celebrant ( not all the food we ordered in the pictures)Great view, too! I need to acknowledge Wyatt for his exceptional service.

Yelp
My family and I came to Harumama for the fun bun designs. They did not disappoint! There are several bun designs, we ordered angry chicken which has spicy chicken inside, the cow buns which has a beef mix inside, and the seasonal snowman buns which have pistachio white chocolate inside. Delicious and cute! We sat at a table by the window with a great ocean view, however there is a huge wall on the inside that made it hard for our waiter to see us when we needed refills and were ready to order. This location is great if you're making an afternoon/evening out of it. The parking is hectic and good luck finding a spot in less than 30 minutes. If you eat here I recommend walking around and checking out other shops and the waterfront to make the most of the parking situation, it's always busy in this area. The buns were worth the hassle though!

Yelp
We got lucky with outdoor seating and the view was so nice -- definitely a highlight. There were three of us, and the staff was super friendly and on top of things. Food was mostly good! The sashimi bento was fresh, the piggy buns were cute, and everything came out looking great. Only thing we didn't love was the calamari -- could've been crispier. My boyfriend thought the food overall was just okay, but I still enjoyed it. Prices were decent and the area's really cute, lots of other spots and shops around. Chill place to eat, would come back just for the vibes and view honestly.

Yelp
Great Ramen place with an amazing view. Customer service was super! Will come again when in the area

Yelp
Walked in wanted an outside table and was told the wait was around 30 minutes, time was accurate and wow oh wow they sat me with their best possible view! They were kind and efficient, I didn't feel rushed. The omakase box I highly recommend, so fresh and tender, the eel was my favorite so I got another order of it. The Hawaiian roll was filling with the blue crab on the inside and tuna on the outside. And the drinks were refreshing. For the pricing, so fair and affordable compared to most places with a view and location like this. The buns soft but were a tad dry but the sauce they brought with it helped, the calamari was not my favorite. Ended on the sushi and was happy overall.

Yelp
I've ordered takeout from this spot regularly, and it's become one of my sushi staples. The rolls are always packed with a generous amount of fish not your typical tiny maki and the quality is consistently fresh and flavorful. As someone with a gluten allergy, I really appreciate that they don't pre-sauce their rolls, making it super easy to order safely. I will say, the only thing that keeps me from giving a full 5 stars is the inconsistency in how the rolls are made. Sometimes they're a bit loosely wrapped or heavy on the rice and not enough fish. But tonight? I was extremely happy and impressed with the quality and amount of fish in each roll. Everything was tightly rolled, well-balanced, and looked beautiful. If every order came like this, I'd be thrilled every time. For the quality and convenience, I keep coming back and will continue to. A solid choice if you're craving good sushi takeout!

Yelp
I have recommended so many people here. I have gone here for a couple years and I always LOVE Beautiful ocean view I have tried so many things off their menu and everything is amazing!
google avatar

Jeslyn L.

Yelp
The sushi was fresh and tasted great! This location is nice as it is just by La Jolla Cove. They have window seating that overlooks the ocean. I enjoyed the animal buns they also have and each one has different filling.

Yelp
Amazing views and great food! I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The location is gorgeous, especially with the ocean view. We didn't have a window seat, but the view was still fantastic. Valet parking made things super convenient. They don't take reservations, so we had a 40-minute wait for our party of 7. Service was solid, and the food was really tasty--those character buns were a hit, especially with the toddlers! I had the haruramen, which was incredible, and the bulgogi fries were delicious too. The unicorn ube bun was my favorite, though the chicken came in a close second. Great spot to bring out-of-town guests, and it's definitely kid-friendly.
google avatar

Brianna L.

Yelp
this place is a nice layout and the buns were very cute animal characters, but other than that, I don't think we would return. The actual flavor of the buns was very plain and I feel like the food is overpriced and not really that great. my husband ordered the spicy peanut Ramen and did not like it did not finish it. the sashimi was really good. Also, one of the drawers to this place is the ocean view, but we came at night and waited over an hour for a table and by the time we got a window table, but you could not see anything because how dark it was outside. also, it was super loud inside, which isn't horrible but good to note. overall, for the price and waiting time it wasn't worth it because the actual food and experience wasn't that great.

Yelp
I can't believe it's been two years since I've been here. Having had a positive experience last time, I came with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. I called ahead saying that we had a group of 8 ppl and they said they can accommodate if we come early before the rush. My friends came early and got an amazing table next to the window. We came specifically for the happy hour but they took a long time to come over that we only had 3 mins to place our order! We did it, but the waitress did not put all of our order under happy hour. Luckily the waitress who checked us out, corrected it. We ordered many of the items on the happy menu which were: Potstickers Karaage Chicken Grilled Salmon Kama - Big portion for happy hour Sashimi salad - Also a nice portion size Seaweed Salad Happy Sushi Combo - Loved this item! You get quite a few pieces for 22 dollars. Crunchy Salmon Roll, California Roll, and Spicy Tuna Roll Of course, we got the character buns and my faves were the chicken and Nutella. They're so adorable! One big con for this visit, which is why I dropped this review a few stars, was the service. They didn't check up on us about halfway through the dinner service. We constantly asked for water, said that they ran out of wine glasses because we were missing some wine (we had to consolidate our wine so that we can get the wine we ordered), and we had to ask knife to cut our character buns. This is the first time I've ever had a restaurant saying they ran out of wine glasses! The restaurant wasn't even full and everyone wasn't drinking wine in the restaurant. I still don't understand why there's a lack of wine glasses. The lack of service toward the end was unfavorable. Some of the time when we saw our waitress, we tried to catch her attention, but she would turn away, like she was avoiding us. I love this place and the food, but there's other Harumama restaurants in SD and other restaurants that I can try out. I think I'll wait a few years before I come back.

Yelp
Perched above the stunning La Jolla Cove, Blue Ocean delivers both spectacular ocean views and exceptional value. The omakase bento fish was pristine, the presentation flawless, and at $55, it's an incredible value for this quality and location. As my friend from Boston would say, it's a bah-gain! Please note there was a minor issue with the salmon which wasn't as fresh. Perfect blend of exceptional food and breathtaking oceanfront scenery.

Yelp
I've always been a fan of Harumama, but unfortunately, my visit this past weekend was disappointing. We waited about 40 minutes to be seated--not unreasonable for a Friday--but the experience quickly went downhill from there. Our server, Glo, gave off a strong "I don't want to be here" vibe from the start, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. We were told the bartender had called out, so Glo was also making the drinks. We placed our drink orders as soon as we sat down, but they didn't arrive until we were more than halfway through our meal. When she finally brought them over, she said, "If they're too sweet, let me know"--and unfortunately, they were pretty bad. The food itself was just okay, nowhere near as memorable as I remembered from past visits. The worst part of the experience came at the end. We asked to split the bill evenly, which came out to $67 each. We paid and began to leave, only to be stopped at the door by Glo, who said, in front of other customers, "Wait, I didn't charge you enough--that's why the meal was so cheap." It was embarrassing and unprofessional. We then had to re-run our cards, this time for $100 each. Between the poor service, the long wait for drinks, average food, and the awkward handling of the bill, this experience left a really bad impression. I hope this feedback helps improve the service and training going forward, but honestly, I'm not sure I'll be back.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday evening around 5pm and was able to be seated right away. You might have to wait if you want an ocean view seat. Though the restaurant wasn't totally packed, our server did seem to be in a rush and not attending to us as often as he maybe could have. I got the veggie potsticker appetizer. It was tasty but I didn't feel it was anything too special. It's also over $10 for 5 pieces. I felt that the filling was more salty than anything, and even though it was supposed to be in a chili-garlic stock, it wasn't spicy at all. Pretty one sided in flavor and texture profile too. The part that was unique was the taro chips on top, those were good.

Yelp
We were so excited to try Harumama again. My fiancé and I had it before in San Diego and loved it. We were really looking forward to some delicious ramen with that rich, flavorful broth we remembered. Unfortunately, this time was a huge letdown. The broth was bland, the flavor just wasn't there, and even the bao buns, which I usually love but were so bad we couldn't finish them. I rarely leave food on my plate, but I took one bite and couldn't keep going. That says a lot. Service was slow and not very welcoming, which only added to the disappointment. The only redeeming part of the experience was the view. Definitely not worth it for the food or service
google avatar

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Harumama is a Japanese restaurant with a great view overlooking La Jolla. I came on a weekday during lunch with friends and to get a window seat it does take some time. We got the animal buns, bao buns, and ramen. The bao buns were the best out of all three and was so juicy. They added sauces and pickled vegetables that gave it a crunch and nice acidity to the richness of the fatty meat. There are many other better ramen options in San Diego so I wouldn't order it again. The animal buns were a little dry and the meat was not tender and had little flavor. Service was a little slow and it took 30 minutes to get water. The food came out randomly so my friend got their food when we all were done with our entrees. A fun date spot with yummy bao buns but I wouldn't order anything else on the menu.

Yelp
Came here for my friend's birthday dinner and it was my first time coming here and it was absolutely delicious! I was so excited to try their food so I got different options and it was plenty to share. Their food portions are big so definitely shareable. The animal buns were so cute! The restaurant was really big. They had plenty of tables and seating. If you sit next to the window you can watch the ocean. The service was excellent and our server was absolutely nice and helpful. He constantly checked on us to make sure that we had everything we needed. Everything that I got was amazing and I honestly can't wait to go back and try more items off their menu!
google avatar

Angel L.

Yelp
Food was decent. Me so hot was kinda greasy. Service was good. The bao was ok. Overall a pretty decent spot.
google avatar

Terrence S.

Yelp
This place does not take reservations but luckily there was plenty of space when we came for lunch on a Monday at noon. It is difficult to find parking, but sometimes you can get lucky finding a spot at the front, or you'll have to find street parking, sometimes at least a block or two away. The view by the far side of the restaurant is very nice as it captures the beach and ocean, sometimes even with the sea lions on the rocks. I had the rainbow spider roll and a chicken karaage for the appetizer. Both were decent. The mix of fish in the roll was fresh and there was a good amount, though it is on the pricier side for the amount given. I wish the chicken karaage batter was thinner, and I wish there was more ginger flavor, but the amount of chicken was pretty good and tasted great with the garlic aioli sauce.

Yelp
Mom and I wanted some La Jolla sushi by the water view and wow were we more than impressed. Won't forget the flavors I experienced here! Love the layout that you can see the chefs at work when you walk in. Beautiful seating and playing arrangements. You can request the window view of the ocean but we didn't want to wait an extra 30 min. Our server was super sweet and nice. Took the time to point out the different types of fish so we knew what we were eating with my omakase. Love the ginger marinade that comes with. The raw oysters were so bomb. Never had oysters with masago on it so it was pretty good. No overwhelming horseradish flavor over here. The omakase was WOW. Everything melted in your mouth (especially the toro, albacore, and tuna). Nothing had an overly fishy aftertaste except maybe salmon but that's cause everything was so fresh. The bar was high. We enjoyed everything and were thoroughly impressed. We needed to order an extra side of toro nigiri. Everything was gone so fast! Go to spot for some nice quality sushi.

Yelp
Delicious food & great service!! Our waitress was so nice & helpful. Ambiance? Amazing. Got a window seat overlooking La Jolla Cove and it's gorgeous. Perfect place to get ramen and bao buns. I got the crispy chickie ramen with the chicken character buns, and a mango refresher. For dessert we got the bunny character buns filled with nutella. This location is the very best.
google avatar

Yelp
All 3 starts for the view and service of the restaurant. The food? Not so much. It's average and on the blend side, but who comes here for the food Ask to be seated by the window, i promise you, it's worth the wait. If you come on the weekend, expect 40 minutes wait time minimum a window view.
google avatar

Tina T.

Yelp
We went here for lunch on July 4th and because we didn't eat anything else that day, we didn't want to believe it but we're certain we got our food poisoning from here. It's 48 hours later and we're still recovering (mild-moderate case). I honestly thought the rolls and the omakase box were beautiful and delicious along with the gorgeous view of the ocean and thoughtful interior decor. Even the staff were super friendly. Maybe as a rule of thumb, we won't be dining at any restaurant that serves primarily raw food (seafood or otherwise) on holidays anymore when there's way less customers...I genuinely think on any other day, the experience would've been a 5/5.
google avatar

Dana C.

Yelp
Came by a few weeks ago and loved it! The service was pretty good, with the waitress making sure if the meal was good and checking up on us. The interior was amazing! It has nice seatings and decorations with mainstream music playing in the background. The food was really good and affordable! I would definitely recommend coming here if you want a nice and casual dinner with affordable pricing!

Yelp
Service - amazing Venue - ok, it looks clean and new though the bathrooms were not cleaned and not stocked. Has an ocean view though for a low price range. Food - matches the price range. Pretty mid overall, has some fun sounding items but everything we ate ended up disappointing. Cocktails are simple or from a can. Sushi sounded good but was too soupy (for real) and lacked interesting flavor. The buns also sounded fun and unique, a fun fusion - but man, they just all have a paste of blandness inside. About on par with the quality of frozen buns from an asian market. As a chinese person, I'm down for fusion if done well. This was not done well. This was... dry while pasty and not a good mix of fillings - even the dessert buns are disappointing (I expected cream texture but some mostly bun with... again, a layer of dryish mild paste). Maybe my expectations were too high. It is rare to find a truly well done American asian fusion. Best thing on the menu was the spam baos. Actually tasted like a popeyes chicken sandwich in bao form somehow. And it wasn't too dry! The bao is a solid 8.9/10. The rest of the food.... around 5-6/10. 3 stars mainly because the good service carries.

Yelp
If you are looking for a dining experience with a great view, this place is a must. Located next to the shores of La Jolla, be sure to get a reservation for a window seating and you won't be disappointed. We enjoyed the spicy garlic edamame (they were addicting) and the calamari for appetizers. Both the seafood salad and cucumber salad were refreshing. I got the Padres roll in honor of the Padres in San Diego, and the rolls were as bomb as the team itself. Highly recommend! We also got two bottles of sake, which are very reasonably priced ($18 per bottle, unfortunately don't remember exactly what we ordered). Parking in La Jolla can be quite difficult. We found a parking spot in front of Jersey Mikes that was free after 6PM (shout out to Jersey Mikes for making our awesome dining experience at Blue Ocean possible).

Yelp
Great place! My friends recommended it to me and they were right. Delicious food, beautiful views and my favorite music! Fun animal buns is must try as well as smores dessert
google avatar

Laura T.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by Blue Ocean - Harumama. For a restaurant in a prime location (gorgeous views overlooking the water), it's reasonably priced and the food is fresh, comes out super quick and was delicious. We ordered everything from the character buns to sushi and noodles. The best things were probably the sushi - fish is fresh and artfully prepared. My favorite was the Hawaiian roll: the blue crab inside was generously portioned! The weakest dish we ordered were the drunken noodles - I'd skip next time. But we loved the poke bowl and I was surprised at how good the character buns were! I was expecting them to be sort of a gimmick to get people in, but the flavor of them (we tried the Cow and Bunny buns) was great! I can see why people complain about the service. Our server was very polite as were the folks who brought our food but the same individuals seemed to never remember when we would say they could just put it on the table anywhere there was space because we were sharing. And at one point we needed a fork but there was not a single server in the dining room so my husband just got up and got one himself. That plus it being nearly impossible to find parking near by without paying $15-45 for valet and I probably won't be hurrying back.
google avatar

Christopher T.

Yelp
Great location, overlooking the ocean. Good & attentive service and good foods. Wish the portions can be bigger or the prices can be lower but you pay for the location & the view so...

Yelp
Pretty excited that Harumama opened a branch in LA Jolla. Also exciting that they have sushi. We got the yellowtail jalapeño roll which was great. Not too spicy. We also got the chicken sandwich bao which was delicious. We also ordered and shared an order of the Omakase. Plenty to share between 2 people. The fish was fresh. Ocean views even if not sitting directly at the windows. We got the Nutella bao and strawberry bao for dessert. Absolutely love the Nutella one! Service was a bit unorganized. I think they have been understaffed. They asked if we wanted to pay before our meal was done. Basically please be ready to leave when done eating. I do like their food but service should count for something.
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice ambiance with beautiful La Jolla coast sea view. Lots of choice of compelling rolls. Ordered 4 different kinds of roll, the fishes were quite tasty, all very delicious. Poke bowls were in good size and look great, also quite yummy. However, the ramen was a bit over cooked so not chewy. Everything was quite reasonably priced.

Kavneel G.

Yelp
Service was unpleasant... restaurant was fairly empty Got seated immediately but waiter did not come for over 30 minutes even after requesting over 3 times. I've been here multiple times and service has been good shame to see this place go downhill
google avatar

Ryleigh N.

Yelp
Beautiful views and beautiful food. What drew me to this place was their unique character buns. They are adorable and well-presented. We got the pig buns (pork) and unicorn (ube) -- Neither impressed us as far as taste. But that's okay, we got it more for novelty anyways. It looks like they may rotate their lineup from time to time, so if you see pics from months ago, some buns may not be available anymore. For the rest of our meal, we got sushi. My sunshine roll, with added lemon, was delicious. We came in on a Monday afternoon when it wasn't too busy, so the hostess let us have a table right by the window. The view is GORGEOUS, despite it being a cloudy day. Service was good too. Parking can be a little tricky in this area, but if you find a spot, it's worth taking a little stroll around La Jolla to soak in the views. I would love to come back here next time I'm in San Diego!
google avatar

Dana M.

Yelp
I love that you can see the ocean from the windows! The rolls and bao buns were yummy but the real star of the show was the service. When the waiter found out my sister and I were celebrating our birthdays and meeting for the first time, he got us a free birthday dessert and sake!!
google avatar

Yelp
My FAVORITE sushi spot in San Diego!!! The sushi is so fresh and they have a wide selection of nigiri and rolls and carpaccio. This Blue Ocean location has the Harumama Magic with it. We never skip out on the animal buns. This location also has a beautiful view, so if you're lucky you might be swayed by the window that shows the view of the La Jolla coves. The service is also super sweet all the time. Shout out to our most recent server Mei :) she recommended our drinks and did not disappoint!!! Will always keep coming here for

Yelp
Father's Day, 2025. We decided to take our granddaughter and her friend both in their 20s to my favorite Asian restaurant in La Jolla for lunch. La Jolla was jammed packed and so were all the restaurants. Harumama had over 1 hour waiting list when my granddaughter checked on a table for 4. So I took a look at the inside and it seemed there were available tables despite a lot of people waiting around. I mentioned this to the young attentive hostess Sofia, and she said "we haven't any window tables available". I said "we'll take any available table". She went and looked at the dining area and came back and told me "5 minutes". We were thrilled and Sofia delivered, and because a window table had just opened up she gave us that. We had a spectacular view of La Jolla coast line, terrific lunch, and excellent as needed wait service. In my book this is one of the best restaurants in all of San Diego. I love their Katsu chicken dish and a bottle of nigiri sake for only $13 unbeatable taste and value. But I especially want to point out Sofia, and compliment her for her unusual great customer service and getting us a table. This is rare these days, especially when the place is busy. She is a real asset to the company, and will keep us coming back.

Yelp
Blue ocean delivers seriously good food. Went here with a large group and did not have a reservation but were able to be seated within 20 minutes with an ocean view. From the ramen, to the sushi, to the fried chicken, to the bao buns, everything was delicious. The manager even accommodated some things for us since the fire alarm had unfortunately gone off a few times while we were dining, everyone was very understanding and friendly.

Yelp
Harumama has a lot of charm, and I was genuinely looking forward to trying it. The view from the window is breathtaking, definitely one of the highlights and a reason I'd return. Service was another big plus. The host was sweet and transparent about them being short-staffed, but still checked on us often and even upgraded our seats. Our waiter was kind and doing his best despite the rush. He spoke Spanish, which we appreciated, and was very polite and attentive throughout our visit. I especially want to highlight how he let me know in advance that the ramen I was considering wasn't spicy at all, even though it's listed as the mildest spicy option. That helped me decide between that and a cheaper dish, and I'm happy he gave me a heads-up. I still wish it had just a bit more kick, but I appreciated the honesty; it helped manage my expectations. The pork was slightly dry, and the vegetables were a bit soft, but overall, the food was affordable and satisfying. I'm curious to try the udon next time. Just a heads-up to first-timers: the "free edamame with ramen" promo only applies to DoorDash orders, which wasn't super clear until our server did us the favor of explaining it to us in a friendly, polite manner. All in all, the view, kind staff, and incredible prices made this a pleasant experience. I'd come back for the Udon and the sushi!

Yelp
If you are in the area and are craving ramen then THIS is your spot! Our friends brought us to this gem with great food and views! Make sure to come right at opening to get a booth next to the window. I accidentally ordered a Shirley temple thinking it was alcoholic, but it was actually so good!! Flying pig ramen: 10/10 My friend recommended we substitute the pork chashu with ground pork and it was bomb!! Rainbow spider roll: 9/10 Jalapeno roll: 9/10 Crispy wontons: 7/10 (good but I've had better)

Yelp
A bit pricey but totally worth it! The view is beautiful on a sunny day. I recommend the bulgogi udon soup and crispy rice appetizer. Also their character buns are so cute, they have seasonal options. The customer service is always great.

Yelp
This place is such a hidden gem! I was worried since I've see reviews about the slow service but we went right when it opened at 11:30am on a Saturday and we basically had the whole place to ourselves and had great service with food coming out quickly. The themed character buns were super cute and delicious too! It was a good spot to get a lot of shared items to split between two people plus the view was sooo nice. Definitely coming back soon!

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday evening for dinner. We got there around 5pm because they don't take reservations and we figured that if we go for an early dinner then we wouldn't need to wait long. We did end up waiting about 15 minutes. As a party of 6, we ordered a bunch of items to share which included an order of cow buns, pig buns, superhero poke, grilled salmon kama, cucumber noodle salad, spicy sashimi salad, chef specialty roll, California roll, and screaming yellowtail sushi. There may have been one or two more but I can't remember. They were all good. The portion size of the salmon kama was generous. The salmon piece was bigger than I expected and it came with a good size salad. So for $9, the Kama was a great deal. The portion sizes of the other items were as expected. The fish tasted fresh. Most of the items came quickly. The items are fairly priced but because we did end up ordered a bunch of small items, it did add up but still turned out to be a reasonable amount considering you are in La Jolla. If you get seated by the window you will have an amazing view with your dinner. We were not next to the window but could still see the view though it wasn't as good from where we sat. But that's where an after dinner walk would solve that issue. Service was good. My three wishes here are for them to pick up the phone. Very hard to get a hold of the people here. My second wish is that they take reservations although I understand why they don't. Then my last one for earlier parking. It's always crowded down there, especially in the summer. I do think this location is worth a visit.

Yelp
The Flying Pig with the upgrade of steak on the side is the bomb! So flavorful and was definitely one of the best I had. The Bao Baos are all really good and the presentation was beautiful. We ordered calamari, seaweed salad, and also a few sushi's and they taste great. The hamachi Kama weee one of the best we had so far. The service was really great, everyone was nice and seems happy with what they do. Great ambience with an ocean view, so happy we get the chance to try this restaurant

Yelp
QUICK TAKE// One of my favorite spots to go for ocean view dining in San Diego with a great selection of asian-fusion flare. FOOD// Very fun variety of options. Of course Harumama has their signature CHARACTER BUNS that their establishment has come to be known for. I think their other dishes are also very notable. I personally always try and get a GRILLED HAMACHI KAMA (limited quantity) when I go - but if you don't come earlier in the day, chances are they'll be sold out. I really like their PORK BELLY BUNS as well - pork belly with pickled cucumbers...yum. Surprisingly their CRISPY CHICKEN RAMEN BOWL is also very tasty and super filling. SERVICE// Standard expected service. VIBES// The absolute reason why I love this spot! If possible try and get a spot right at their windows for oceanside views of beautiful La Jolla. ETC// Parking in Downtown La Jolla is a little rough, so just take that into account when planning a trip down to the area.

Yelp
My friends and I came to this restaurant as a first dinner of the new year, and I was not disappointed. The interior is very clean and has a high-scale fancy ambiance, I thought the design was well done. I expected the food to be very expensive but it wasn't as pricey as I thought, maybe slightly more than average sushi. The sushi itself was fresh and well made, the rice and condiments inside the sushi mixed well to give each roll an explosive flavor profile. The service was good as well. I'd recommend Harumama to anyone who wants sushi near the ocean!

Yelp
Great location overlooking the cove. If you're a sushi fanatic this might not be your favorite place in town. However it is still good, food comes out really fast and the staff is friendly.
