Appetizers & Grilled Cheese Review This place is very centrally located, which is exactly what we were looking for. My husband and I both work in different areas, so we wanted a spot in between our jobs where we could meet up after work to eat. This turned out to be a perfect choice. Most bars have the exact same predictable appetizers — you can almost guess what’s on the menu before you even look. This is the first place I’ve been to in a long time that actually had some unusual and interesting offerings. We ordered the spicy green beans, cheese curds, and a grilled cheese sandwich that came with coleslaw. The spicy green beans were great — crispy, well seasoned, and not greasy. A really solid appetizer and something you don’t see everywhere. The cheese curds here were totally different from any I’ve had before. They weren’t just chunks of cheese that were battered and fried. They had a slight chewiness to them and a much better texture. They were so good and came with a house-made blue cheese dip that was very chunky and flavorful. My husband loved it so much he asked for another container and finished all of it. He said it was absolutely delicious. Then there was the grilled cheese — hands down, the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had. It’s on sourdough, the outside is perfectly crunchy, and the cheese inside is super gooey with a very generous amount of it. I added extra tomatoes, and they put them on perfectly so they weren’t cooked down. You got the gooeyness of the cheese, the crunch of the bread, and the slight sweetness of the tomatoes all in one bite. It was phenomenal. The grilled cheese also came with coleslaw, and that was really good too. It wasn’t dry at all — there was enough sauce to coat everything nicely, and it had just a slight kick to it. Overall, the coleslaw was very flavorful and a great side for the sandwich. Overall, we were extremely pleased with everything we ordered and will definitely be coming back. To top it off, we had amazing service from Eric, who I believe is also the bartender. When we came in it wasn’t very busy, and he took care of us right away. He was super cheerful and friendly — exactly the kind of energy you want at the end of a workday. Shout-out to Eric — you’re awesome. I also noticed they have pool tables and dartboards in a little separate area, so there are lots of things to do besides just eating and drinking. It also wasn’t very smoky at all, which I really appreciated. I would absolutely recommend coming here to try the different appetizers and, for sure, the grilled cheese.

Great food with great service. The biscuits and sausage gravy was really good, a lot of sausage. The grilled cheese with tomato soup was also good. The Reuben sandwich was stacked high and delicious. The coleslaw and french fries were also very good. Especially delicious were the barbecued fried pork belly bites. Lynn was very attentive to our needs and was very friendly. Another great visit! Lastly, I sure am glad they have Miller High Life. This is a nice tavern, dedicated to the Minnesota Vikings! There is a bar with gaming, a game room with pinball, pool, darts, skeeball, and a golf game. Large indoor space with various seating options. Lots of TVs all over the place showing mostly sports. We ordered fish and chips and fish tacos, I guess because we like fish lol. Both dishes were very good, and served hot and fresh. The french fries were good and the coleslaw was obviously homemade and very delicious. I don't know what sauce that was on the fish tacos, but it was also good. The fried fish was pretty good, but a little bit greasy. Lynn was friendly and did a good job serving us. Personally, I was glad to see all three varieties of Miller beer available, Miller Lite, Miller High Life and MGD; all available on the happy hour menu. Prices were reasonable. The bathrooms were clean. Overall, we had a nice visit.

We had an awesome time as out of town folks on Christmas day looking for a place to watch the Vikings! 💜💛 It felt like being at your hometown hang out. SKOL!!!

Burger was cooked perfectly medium. Had the western burger. Very savory. Definitely enjoyed it. Fries were excellent as well. I will be back to try the other dishes.

First time checking out Blue Ox and it was great! Pretty cool space with gaming /bar games and the service by Gail was superb! All the food was good as well. Outstanding Tavern with great food! Staff is friendly and is very attentive. Ongoing cooking classes make this restaurant an extra special place to the heart of Las Vegas. I had the mushroom onion burger with their homemade Cole slaw, to die for. The Blue Ox burger is on point, juicy and huge, with French fries perfectly seasoned and crispy yet moist on the inside.

Eric, Johnny, and Courtney are the best bartenders here. We come here all the time just us or with friends and it’s never a bad time. Good drinks good food fun gambling plus a pool table and games, skee ball and pinball machines make it all the worth while. If you catch the owner here he’s a great guy to have a conversation with. We love it here and we’ll always come back!

Since I moved out to Vegas 6 months ago, I have been to atleast 10 different types of bar restaurant or tavern bars outside the strip area and I must say Blue Ox is a special kind in terms of their dim light, cozy & comfortable environment/ vibes. Very nice courteous staff, I have interacted mostly with Nathan and he is an awesome person & a friendly, respectful bar tender. Definitely the food & drinks all are good, while what stands out most to me is they have ‘$3 mystery alcohol shots’ every day 24/7 which is so awesome specially on Friday / weekend nights when you feel like having more drinks. It would be awesome if they can start offering hookah too 🤪😊.

We to come to this place for lunch every once in a while: It is a little smoky because obviously it's a bar. But the food is always delicious and the servers are always friendly and attentive. We ordered the Caesar and house salads along with chicken fingers. The salads were good and fresh but the chicken fingers are beer battered so they're crunchy on the outside and moist in the middle. And they have amazing ranch! Can't have chicken fingers without good ranch. This is a go to on our lunch list so we will be back again.

Excellent food!!!! The burgers are so juicy! Drinks are reasonably priced and the servers/ bartenders are always welcoming. They have a cool little game room. Idk why this place is always so dead... But I like it. It's like having a bomb spot just for me and my party.

The Blue Ox Tavern is Undoubtedly one of the best spots for bar food. The Northwoods Burger, recommended by our server, was spot on and cooked to perfection. The fries, super crispy and seasoned just right, added to the delightful experience. The Blue Ox Melt with Turkey stole the show, melting in your mouth and complemented by the onion rings. It's fantastic to hear it's a local hangout for Minnesota Vikings fans, making game day undoubtedly electric. And to top it off, the cool game room provides an extra layer of enjoyment. Always a pleasure to support such locally-owned businesses!

Service was amazing. We took recommendations on cocktails that were well balanced. The food was not your typical tasting bar food either, it was definitely elevated! Loved their beer battered chicken tenders. They were big, and so light. My girlfriend had the prime rib French dip. The sandwich packed lots of meat, not too fatty, but could've used some cheese (for my liking). Topped off outing with stuffed churros, they were good too.

Had a great time at this awesome bar! They have lots of games like pin ball, darts and pool to play. Was really nice inside, lots of TVs to watch the games on. Service was amazing! Our waitress was so sweet and even split our sandwich without us asking. Food was good for bar food! Stick with the appetizers and you are in the clear.

Went there with my buddy Sandy for a late night snack and keno . The service was top notch and so was the fish and chips. It was so good I tip the cook 5 bucks. Even the Cole slaw was amazing .. the keno machine was nice to me as well not so much to Sandy but I ha d a great time and will 100% be back again . Thanks blue ox I appreciate ya!

I am new to the Blue Ox but thanks to Chrissy ,Gail and the hot fresh food I will definitely be a regular. You can tell the owner takes pride in his establishment. Everything was clean bathrooms even smelled AND looked clean (let's face it we all been to ones that look clean but the smell...???!!!) It is right in the same lot as Burlington so if you are in the area stop in ....you won't be disappointed!!!

How is this place considered a "dive bar"? If this is divey then I am in love. It is not your typical stale smoke place. Not at all. It is CLEAN. The bathrooms are sparkling. It is spacious in the whole bar. Good food at a cheap cost. We got here rather late like 1:30am. A friendly, energetic and super personable bartender named Eric was our host. He is very creative making cocktails and was thrilled we wanted to try something besides the usual beer or shot. My friend got a Purple Rein cocktail which was a lavender shade of purple it was tasty (I tried a little) but a smidge on the sweet side for me. Eric was pleased I wanted to try a drink not on the menu. He even listened to my story of my old neighbor Mr. Roby (RIP) who used to make a good manhattan. Eric came up with a nice old fashioned cocktail with a hint of sweetness. It was amazing. He tried to make a cable car on demand but unfortunately he didn't have all the ingredients. So eh came up with a blue curaçao version which was just ok. The food is quite good and the kitchen was open late. We had Fried Cheese Curds and fish tacos oh my goodness. Really good and hit the spot. Love this place. Come here after 11pm and ask Eric to make you a draaaaank!

Another perfect lunch from the "Ox" Northwoods burger (Medium rare) Classic Ox (Chicken) Boom Boom Shrimp and side order of perfect fries for our girls at the office. Very hard to find a place like the Blue Ox anymore that cooks it your way. Why burn the burger, right? They will cook it as you like it because they grind the meat..... The food is always good. I like the hamburgers, fish tacos, and especially their chili. Fun place to watch a game and enjoy a meal. Service is always good and the owner checks on his guests.

Lucky me. I live a couple of blocks down. One of the best hidden gems in town. Food is fabulous, service is amazing.

Came here for the first time and loved it. Lynn was our server and could not be nicer. The food was great and Lynn was amazing. Will definitely recommend this place and will be regulars here!!

I had the best burger I have had in my 2.5 years in Vegas. Of course, I don't sample the strip restaurants because it's all hype and overpriced. Definitely going back and thanks to Lynn for her terrific service!

The French dip sandwich is excellent. It was sooo good that we went back a couple weeks later and ordered them again. The coleslaw was yummy. The service was great. Stop on. The waitress made us feel at home , eleven though we are Arizona cardinals fans. We had a great time. Very nice seating.

Kind of a foodie, place did not disappoint! Cool atmosphere, great service. Food was exceptional. Great prices! Even went twice during my stay instead of getting price gauged on the strip .

Another day, another bar review right? This review is my 300th! Maybe I'm slacking. The Blue Ox was my watering hole of choice this week, and is one of those places you either know about or stumble upon accidentally. The exterior was vintage looking and vintage looking places usually have a certain type of charm. The interior looks like it got a facelift at some point, yet still retains some of it's vintage charm. The back of the bar had a recreational/game room area. They made it clear by signage that this is a MN Vikings joint. I was just there for dinner and a VGK hockey game. Behind the bar was their own Goal horn the bartender plays when VGK scores to create a little excitement (Note: Ironically their goal horn actually sounds like the Calgary Flames horn) The drink service was a little slow at first, but improved throughout the evening. I ordered a hangover burger and fries. The food was okay, nothing overly good or bad to report about it. The cheese curds were noticeably good though. The slot machines were like Fort Knox (Rhymes with Ox) I couldn't get a darn dime out of them no matter how much I spent. One cool perk is that if you go to the ATM, the ATM will randomly spit out a $20 free play voucher for a lucky user- that was the only thing I won though. It was good place to hang out play the jukebox and watch the game, especially after several of their $2 "mystery shots"!

Omg the pork belly is fantastic perfectly prepared full of flavor. The staff is great very attentive. Came for a paint nite and so glad I found this place. Perfect neighborhood water hole.

(7/26/22 Visit) Stopped in for cocktails with coworkers before a work dinner nearby. We were warmly greeted by the bartender. Sometimes going into a local bar, that's not your regular local bar can feel awkward but not here. Bartender was friendly, kept checking on us. We sat at the bar and the place has a good vibe. They had a mystery shot deal going that we got, which was a fun concept. Hit a little playing video poker which is always nice. The food that was being ordered around us looked good. I will definitely return and try the food.

Good food, great service. Not crowded on weekday lunch, has darts and other games. Beer on tap was good, definitely going back.

My friend and I had a desire for fried fish and decided to research places on Yelp. Blue Ox Tavern had rave reviews about their fish and chips so we had to try it. The fried fish was excellent and our server Gail was the best!!! If you want some excellent fish and chips and excellent service go to Blue Ox Tavern.

My friend and I were looking for a place to get some really good fish and chips and we hit the jackpot by coming to this place. Gale who was our server was just delightful so knowledgeable about the food selection even down to our drinks everything was just perfect. I've never been to this place before but I highly recommend this place is very clean inside from the outside it doesn't look like much but once you walk in your welcome with a great staff. I had the old fashion and it was beyond excellent my girlfriend Had The white wine sangria excellent. Of course we ordered the fish and chips and it was great. Not too much better very good codfish the fries were excellent everything was hot and we also had the cheese curd never had that before but that was good as well. I feel good in this place and I definitely will come back again.

MOOD: Friday night dinner Went with a group of four for a quick dinner before a show. We got there instantly sat ourselves. It was a busy night and only one server and I believe only one bartender. I wish I remembered our servers name as I would just like to say she was so sweet and although she was tending to each table she tried her best to be attentive and get what we needed. I didn't realize that their menu options change so I was a little disappointed in that since we had our minds set on our dinner before arriving. We got a free appetizer by downloading the app. Which was nice. The cheese curds 5/5 Fried green beans 4/5 American burger 5/5 We planned to eat there but waited longer than expected so asked for it to go and ask for our checks prior to the food coming out (We didn't time it well as we thought we'd have ample time to make it to our show that started within 45mins) Besides that, service is great food is good. Prices aren't Bad Blue ox is always a go to for many

Came here pre-lockdown. Nice and chill atmosphere. The staff is friendly and the place is pretty big and bright. There is a game area with machines and a pool table. I recommend the cauliflowers and pretzels as snacks. They also make micheladas!

Everything was amazing! Our server, Chelsea, Took care of our order beautifully. She suggested amazing items. We ordered fried green beans. Next, we ordered the Pork Belly Bites. They are a must try! My friend ordered a burger that was juicy, and cooked to a perfect medium rare. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was crispy, succulent and well seasoned. Our food came out in a timely manner. The owner came over and chatted with us. This place has great hospitality!

My and my cousin stopped in after a friend said the eats are pretty good the burger did not disappoint at all ....big juicy bacon burger I had to unhinge my jaw to bite it it was messy and delicious I wouldn't have it any other way didn't take a pic "sorry" but when the burger came out, I seen it looking at me and I just went into attack mode. Didn't have time to take a picture. Wish I did. Though y'all gotta try this place it's a bar so don't look for big deals here just a bar with good food

When my dad said he wanted to come here for his birthday dinner- I was very skeptical- a typical bar??!! It's a Viking Bar (Minnesota represent) so it won my dad over. But I was very surprised and definitely changed my tune quickly! They offer happy hour from 3-6pm daily and their well drinks are $3 and certain appetizers are half off! We got a whole spread, cheese curds, pork belly bites,asparagus , chicken dippers, and cauliflower bites! The food came quickly, hot and fresh! Very flavorful, not your typical bar grub! The pork belly and cheese curds were delicious! They even had a horseradish dip that became a favorite of the table!! The salads were very fresh and their ranch is that good homemade kind that you want to dip everything in! But the crown jewel was the burger! I got a Western Burger which comes with onion rings and bacon and bbq sauce on it - it was absolutely delicious! Charbroiled taste! So good!! Definitely found a new spot to hang out, Dylan the bartender/ server was awesome! Even brought out their cheesecake for my dads bday! Had fun playing pool and darts in their back room! It's very clean and has great music playing! A great spot for locals to cal l their home bar - I got the Cheers Vibe- a good vibes spot - even the owner was very nice and helpful when the pool machine malfunctioned for a bit. Need a local bar to call your spot? This one is it! Inexpensive, strong delicious drinks and good food! Perfect to unwind and you can even try you luck at the machines at the bar! Already planning my next happy hour!!

I have lived in Vegas for a little more than a year and this place is by far my favorite local bar (although it has its origins in Minnesota). Nate, Kess, and Chelsea are all incredible! The food is great; I love the cheese curds, fried green beans and fish tacos, but it is all good! If you are feeling adventurous try the $2 mystery shots.

Had a fabulous time with my husband and a few friends watching the New York Rangers game. Even though they lost, we had an awesome lunch and delicious drinks!! It was a really great atmosphere to watch the game with lots of TVs and one large big screen projector! I would highly recommend coming here especially for Vikings games during football season!

COVID review. All staff had masks on properly. First off this place smells like cigarettes really badly. Even though no one was actively smoking one while I was there. If that doesn't bother you it seems like a nice spot to get a drink and hang out. Layout was great and even has some drinking games you can play in the back. I walked in and ordered takeout. Staff were helpful and the food was prepared quickly. I got the western burger. It was good, nothing too fancy but hit the spot perfectly if in the mood for a burger. The fries were a little lack luster though. Outside were a little soggy instead of crispy. Overall if you can get over the smell, seems like a great place to get some drinks, food and play some drinking games.

Oh god, what a gem in a city of crowded, overpriced food. Sylvia was my server and she was also a gem. Hands down, one of the best burgers I have ever eaten in my life!! Also, those cheese curds - - DAYUM!! They pair it with creamy horseradish and it's such a perfect bite. If I lived in Vegas, this would be my local spot. Do not hesitate - - go check it out. I had the blue cheese burger and when I go back SOON, I'm going to have the western bbq burger. My mouth is watering as I'm typing this!

Service was awesome! The spicy cauliflower was sooooo good!! I also got the French dip. It didn't knock my socks off but it wasn't bad either. Cool little bar to eat at.

I came specifically for the cheese curds. The horseradish was unique, never had it like that. Also had a mushroom onion burger. Really good. Onions were grilled nicely which usually isn't so in my opinion most places. Then I started to feel sick. Very nauseous feeling. It couldn't be the food. Then I realized it was a Viqueen's bar. There should have been a warning as I'm allergic to purple. Never coming here again.

They did it agin! Amazing service and delicious food! The waiter/server Primo was amazing. He helped me narrow down the second food item and was easily available. Give my compliments to the cook. This is the second time I go and the food was just as savory as the first time. I highly recommend you try the Purple Rain drink!

My partner was actually looking for a restroom to use, and we happen upon this tavern. He went in and after a bit he texted me to come in from the car, since restroom is for customer only, (works for me I was hungry) I was greeted warmly by the lady bartender, we got our drinks and ordered a little snack. The air in the place felt crisp, the seating area is spacious, and nicely decorated. He had the Purple Rain, and absolutely loved it. I'll be adding this business to a venue I can revisit after I get off work. Thank you for the wonderful service, and delicious food. Note: As soon as another customer left, the bartender was very quick to clean and sanitized the seating and counter area, very on top of their cleaning during this pandemic.

This is a great dive bar located in North Las Vegas with even better service. We went on a karaoke night and it was packed with great people having fun.

Just go. Do I watch any Minnesota sports teams? No. Do I originally hail from Minnesota? No. Have in ever been to Minnesota? No. Am I a Vikings fan? Only when I'm at the Ox. Timberwolves? Only when I'm at the Ox. This establishment is my go-to hangout. Their food is fabulous. And, given that I've probably pre-partied by the time I make it across Sahara and plopped my butt down at the bar, I've tried almost all the appetizers. The pretzel is great, the Buffalo cauliflower is great, cheese curds are great...I don't think I could go wrong. The Turkey sandwich with green chili on it...I LOVE that thing. Their French fries are good too! The bartenders are always fabulous. They are locally-owned, so support small business in our town. Oh. They have $2 mystery shots...be very careful how many of those you have...danger, Will Robinson. Like I said... Just go.

My family and I were looking for a bar where we could hang out, have some drinks and tasty apps before heading to a big family event. Blue Ox was a really good decision for us. We had the breaded green beans, spicy battered cauliflower, and fried cheese curds. It all hit the spot for every single one of us. Everything was fresh, crunchy, and flavorful. The breading to vegetable or cheese ratio was done well - we didn't see any bites where it was only breading. They had a pretty good selection on draft and the cocktails were equally good - namely the Moscow Mules. The bar itself was room, I can tell it's a good location for groups as well as a hang out to catch a game or two. There were also two or three video games like Big Game Hunter and a golfing game. I believe I saw an online jukebox as well. This bar has an old Vegas kind of feel and is a little bit on the smoky side; and that bit of smoke really is the only peeve I have. Their appetizers are definitely a must.

Was in Vegas for work and finished too early for dinner and too late for lunch. Where to eat? Not the strip!! Off to Yelp! for suggestions. The ratings for this restaurant are honest, this place is good, the dining room is clean, and the servers are professional and friendly. Fish & Chips were great and the Blue Cheese Burger offers generous amounts of BC with a fair dose of hot sauce. Delicious. Fries are hot and crisp. Come and try it. Pool table looked inviting, but the kitchen was quiet so the food came very quickly!

Honestly , I can't believe I forgot to tell my favorite local bar! From the fantastic homemade food like their beer battered fish and chips to the garlic Alfredo Fettuccine that is made from scratch or some delicious drinks stirred up by Nate or Celeste! What sets this gaming bar apart from majority of others near by is the hospitality and consistent flawless customer service. Your 2nd time coming in Kira will probably remember your favorite drink ... Nate will recommend a fantastic entree if you're hungry aside from my usual which is the country fried steak (PHENOMENAL Flavor) and the garlic fettuccine Alfredo. The multiple options for different games always comes in clutch when I have friends or family in town .. There's skeet ball , beer pong , pool table , golfing , pinball and darts. But the best part about this bar is the machines that love showing love to my friends and I while kicking back watching a knights game and throwing in a few bucks and watching the red numbers light up!
