Parking is difficult. Beef nom Tok is absolutely delicious. Coconut soup is pretty good too. Masaman curry isn't so good.

Google
Probably my favorite local nondescript restaurant in the Birmingham area. With the severe lack of variety in Asian food, this is a gem. Can’t really go wrong with whatever you order, everything tastes great. Parking can be tough during peak hours but it’s manageable. Calling in can be tough too, but if you can’t get in, just go there, order and wait.

I’ve always been a fan of the delicious Vietnamese cuisine at Blue Pacific, with their fried rice standing out as a true highlight. The flavors are spot on, showing their commitment to quality, which has impressively maintained even after the challenges brought by the pandemic. However, the lack of indoor seating is a downside, especially during unfavorable weather conditions. It would be greatly beneficial if the restaurant could reintroduce some form of indoor or sheltered dining to enhance the overall experience. Despite this, Blue Pacific continues to be my top spot for exquisite Vietnamese fried rice.

Google
No-nonsense hole in the wall Thai place in a repurposed gas station convenience store. Placed an order for pickup for lunch on a Saturday, and it was ready when we arrived (about 15 minutes frok call to pick up). Staff was friendly. Appears to be some seating indoors, but it wasn't open when we were there. Also some picnic tables outside. Ordered chicken pad thai, veggie pad pak, and 2 spring rolls. Rolls were excellent, and the pad pak and pad thai were very good. Certainly can't beat the prices!

Google
Food is fresh, super delicious, and worth every 5 star review. We're in from out of town and weren't expecting the 3 picnic tables for outside dining only. That's on us, not them, and the food more than made up for it. Great job!!!

Sravan A

Google
Surprisingly, this little place has good fried rice. They have specials for each day. Seems like it's geared towards Togo than sit in experience. It's a basic restaurant seating arrangement with couple benches outside for seating.

Google
This is an edit to the review below. The Pad Thai is the only dish I eat here. I give 5 Stars when I think someone goes that extra step, like the egg net they used to put on this dish. Not sure why, but they don't do this anymore. Too bad, it made a good place, amazing in my opinion...... I try Pad Thai everywhere I Go, and Blue Pacific absolutely has the best in my opinion! Hole in the wall actually kind of looks like a gas station, I think it used to be a gas station. Totally worth the trip!

Google
The best Thai place I’ve had in this area. The workers are on top of it and friendly. The food makes me come crawling back for more nearly once a week. They are quick and efficient. Recommended to everyone in the Tristate area.

Yelp
Food - amazing and tasty Take out was fast and pipping hot. Prices are fair for the quality and amount of food you get. So far my best Thai since being in Birmingham.

Gina W.

Yelp
This is our go-to Thai restaurant. The food is always excellent. Prices aren't cheap but fair and affordable. You have to keep up with them on Facebook because they will randomly close for a month or more, plus weeks here and there. And the phone is always busy- sometimes I have to redial fifty times before I get through. If the call goes straight through and no one answers, it means they are closed. And the wait for food is always long because they are so busy. Sometimes they run out of food. They only make the yellow curry soup on special occasions and it goes fast. But all of this is due to the food being good and fresh, the staff being wonderful, the restaurant being clean... and people just love it. No one cares about any of these obstacles. Even me. We just know the deal and plan for it! Eat early if you want to mostly avoid any of these obstacles. The owners have a work/life balance and make a quality product. I hope nothing ever changes!

Yelp
After trying Blue Pacific for the 1st time last month everyone told me we had to try the Pad Thai next time. So we did...& y'all were absolutely right! This is the best Pad Thai EVER! Pad Thai is usually a bit too sweet for my taste, but this was excellent. Perfect balance of sweet & savory, the peanuts added some great texture & the shrimp were a very good addition. Thank you all for the recommendation! Though the Pad Thai is amazing, the Rad Na remains my fav. Not just my fav dish from Blue Pacific, but one of my absolute fav dishes around period. This dish contains pan fried rice noodles served with a gravy with your choice of meat along with carrots, cauliflower, mushrooms & Chinese broccoli. I chose beef last night & was very happy with my decision. It's the "gravy" (more like a broth) that is the true star of this dish. It is packed with so much flavor! A must try! We also had the Fried Spring Rolls which were good, but I found them a bit chewy & tough, but the taste was there. Will probably go with the tried & true dumplings or wonton next time. If you haven't tried Blue Pacific yet you are 100% missing out! You've got to try it...but be prepared to wait during dinner hours (you can call ahead). There's a reason this place stays busy. There are a few tables to dine at outside, but this place is pretty much a takeout spot. The inside of the place does seem clean. Yelp
I tried the panang chicken for the first time and I am in love! The sauce was so smooth and tasty I wish I had ordered more. The chicken was tender and everything was seasoned just how I like it. Love this place, not much to look at but baby, trust me, this place is the sheet,

Megan W.

Yelp
This restaurant does not look at sketchy as other reviews make it sound. Like other small businesses, they have closed dine-in and just use the excess space for storage. Upon walking in, you'll make an order at the counter; there are tables outside where you can wait/eat, or just wait for them to deliver your order to your car. I was most impressed by the prices -- around $10 a meal is almost unheard of now! I ordered the pad see ew and definitely wish it was more spicy and less oily! Nonetheless, they gave a good amount of protein and vegetables. Overall, the portion size is perfect for one meal; you most likely won't have leftovers. I also tried the spicy basil; there was a deep rich flavor and I would definitely order it again!

Mallory M.

Yelp
Always incredible food at Blue Pacific! I always make it a point to swing by for lunch anytime I'm in Birmingham. I usually bring an extra order back with me-- I pack a cooler with ice, it's THAT good. My favorites are the Penang Chicken and the Chicken Pad Thai.

Janet K.

Yelp
Best place for takeout in Bham! Cooked to order, orders are correct and packed to not shift in transit. Love this place!

Courtney R.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. I would even goes as far as to say one of the only authentic Asian spots in Jefferson county! We have done all of the pad Thai, wings, and wonton!! The service is pretty slow but it's solely because everyone comes to this place and they are only open a few nights a week. You cannot sit inside to eat anymore but they set tables up outside for people that are not taking it to go.

Sabrina M.

Yelp
Honestly. This is one of those places that you do not want to tell anybody about because you want it all to yourself but it's SO GOOD that you have to let the world know. Did a post on it @basicallygourmet on Instagram to share with the community. It is really just perfect, authentic, insanely flavorful. If you don't try it out you're truly missing out ESP if you've been to Thailand and want to bring back memories of those flavors. It's a HOLE IN THE WALL and mostly just got to-go orders. Pop open your trunk and go ahead and have a trunk picnic in this nice fall weather. Trust me you don't want to wait until you get home! Posted is the Thai noodle, wings, and chicken panang.

Alexia J.

Yelp
Blue Pacific reopened yesterday and I just figured everyone should know. We went for dinner and had pad kee mao, spring rolls, and tom yum kung soup. Always great service and quality. Happy that they were equally as excited for the customers return as we were theirs. Always remember to be prepared to wait 30 minutes or more. This isn't an issue for me, but I know some people feel everything should be quick like a mcdonalds. If that's you, go to a mcdonalds.

Harrell B.

Yelp
Don't pass this one by! This place is a gem. Authentic, well prepared, fabulous food crafted not by some random dude, but by a true artisan. This place is family run, simple outdoor only dining, but great care and friendly people serving next level cuisine. You feel like you are in the noises streets of Bangkok. An epicurean delight, folks - don't miss out.

Katrina P.

Yelp
This is way too good to be this close to my house. I blame the extra pounds gained on this place. Seriously the best Thai takeout you can get- and at an affordable price! So far, I've tried the Basil Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Pad Thai, and the coconut soup. I've probably been here 5 times now and there's never been a time where our food wasn't piping hot. Every now and then, they get very busy (the demand is high because the food is so good), so I would recommend calling ahead. When you pickup, if you tell them what you are driving, they will bring it out to your car. (This is a take out only experience. No dine-in option.)

Laura C.

Yelp
Pad Thai is DELICIOUS!! That's my usual. Other friends/family eat other dishes and they enjoy their food as well.

Rita B.

Yelp
This place absolutely never disappoints. I always for the spring rolls and shrimp basil fried rice!

Tiara S.

Yelp
I have been hearing such good things about Blue Pacific. I finally made my way over for lunch. The food was AMazING! Did not disappoint at all! I wasn't sure what I wanted, and the gentleman at the register was very helpful. He described each dish in detail, and gave recommendations. I ordered and he sent me to my car, and brought my food out in about 7 minutes. I ended up ordering the Rad Na. Sooooo good! The noodles came separate from the sauce. So I mixed them together and man!!! Wow!! The noodles had a very distinct toasted/grilled flavor. The sauce was slightly thick (not in a bad way) and full of flavor. Delicious! I would recommend Blue Pacific 1000 times over!

Tenise H.

Yelp
I went to Blue Pacific today as soon as they opened up at 11am. There was already customers there and orders being called in. So what that tell you?? They doing something right over there!! I had the spicy basil beef and fried rice option. I also had the 2 pc spring rolls. The beef was very fresh and the fried rice was so good. I love the fresh Thai basil leaves in the dish. It just makes it so refreshing surprisingly! The spring rolls are very crispy and the dipping sauce is to die forrrrr, it's like an orange ginger sauce not like a sweet and sour at all. The menu has many options but not too many just the right amount. I will be back very soon. I plan to try their wings and another rice dish.

David R.

Yelp
Great food great service, every time. Panang chicken is so dang good makes my nipples twibble twobble. What... yea whatever. Great place.

Shannon N.

Yelp
Tried Blue Pacific for the first time last night. We have never had Thai food before so it was a new palette for us. Teriyaki chicken was thin sliced chicken breast, grilled with a sweet teriyaki sauce. Served with veggies and rice. It was excellent. My wife tried the beef Pad Thai. Thin slices of marinated beef served over egg noodles. My wife is not a big adventurous foodie but she ate every bit and said it was great! Fried dumplings were crisp and flavorful! Excellent meal, will be back!

Daniel F.

Yelp
Tiny hidden gem. Fantastic food and great variety for newbies to experienced Thai fans. Deserves the hype.

Robert M.

Yelp
Always Amazing best value in town !!! Beef Basil is amazing ! And the Panang is great!!

Shameka C.

Yelp
Don't go too fast or you will miss this restaurant, formerly a small gas station. Blue Pacific has been bookmarked for some time now. I actually stopped by once before and they were closed. No biggie, I decided to try again. Based on other reviews, I went ahead and placed my order over the phone. The restaurant opens for lunch and then reopens at 5 pm for dinner. The young man who took my order of Shrimp Fried Rice repeated it back to me, a plus. I arrived and was told my food was been packaged. In the car, I did check it and oh my it smelled so good!!! Finally made it home, and this meal was awesome with the fried egg, onions, peas, seansoned rice, and let's not forget the nice size shrimp. Now, the restaurant offers other options but for now this will be top on my list.

Jisue K.

Yelp
Very well seasoned--not too salty or sweet! Really well done and would bring my out of town friends here.

Mizuto T.

Yelp
Extremely busy all the time, for all the right reasons! Coming from Chicago, I was unsure if there would be a go-to Thai place but Blue Pacific is authentic! The employees are very friendly and they are quick in prepping the ordered entree without compromising the quality of food. AND they tend to get the orders out quicker than estimated time of service would be! Prices are pretty standard. It's worth the wait to order from here!

Len P.

Yelp
Don't let the locks fool you. The food is excellent. I ordered the pad Thai and ginger chicken. Both were delicious.

Mai N.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite Thai food in Birmingham. I will drive 20 minutes to get this when I am craving some authentic Thai food. As a person from CA who grew up eating authentic Thai food, this is as close as it gets. Their pad Thai and pad seew are fresh and balanced with meat and veggies. Their soups are good and their entrees always come with rice. I would suggest ordering ahead of time and then coming to pick up. There is no indoor seating and only 2-3 tables outdoors, so it's mostly a take out location. You will order then wait for them to bring it out to your car. Parking can be difficult, as they only have like 8-10 spots. 10/10 recommend!

Abrielle L.

Yelp
I always come here for my pad siew with tofu. The place is very clean and the employees hand you the food in your car packed up carefully. There is a lot of plastic products used, but I always keep the containers, so it is reusable. This place has the best Thai food I have ever had in my life. The service is generally pretty quick, and they have great vegetarian options. Although this is more of a takeout place, there are a few tables at the outside seating area, and it is still a nice ambiance. I love having a good Thai place nearby!

Stanton D.

Yelp
Hands down the best Thai food in town. It's my go to take out restaurant. Everything I have had has been delicious. The spring rolls are great. My favorite dish is the Spicy Basil Pork with an egg on top. Seriously could eat here every week. Note: It is best to call ahead. Most likely you will get a busy signal. You have to call multiple times to get through. It's worth the hassle though. This isn't really a dine in type of restaurant. Don't let the outside fool you. This was an old gas station before it became a restaurant.

Geovonna C.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Hands down the best Asian food I've ever had. My husband had the Pad Pack and said it was delicious. We had the fried dumplings and they were very good. I had the basil, shrimp fried rice & it was amazing! Best fried rice ever!! We will be back very soon!

Hudson P.

Yelp
Hands down me and my family really love this place! The food is the best authentic Thai food in Alabama so going here is a must. The service is fantastic, but as of now they don't do dine in. The place presents itself as a small business that sells authentic Thai food. I really love the vibes this place gives. Coming here is something you want do do.

Phillip B.

Yelp
Don't let the old gas station appearance scare you away , because you'll miss the absolute best Thai food in Alabama , Sam the owner runs a first class restaurant, he emphasizes good quality and customer service. Thursday you need to eat this pork and noodle soup the broth is addictive and the noodles are so good , they only serve it on Thursdays , also add a little of the homemade red pepper flakes, it will completely make a delicious soup a unbelievably delicious soup, I usually get the wings as well fried chicken wings served with a great sauce and green onions .

Melissa M.

Yelp
Basil fried rice and egg roll here are great! Customer service was fantastic as well.

Wendy J.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years, so I am not sure why it took me this long to write a review on here. But also, I really don't have much to add because Blue Pacific is widely known in the Birmingham community as one of the best Thai restaurants in town. My go-to is the combination pad thai noodles. I love the flavor--savory but not too salty. It has the right amount of lime flavor and the crunch of the peanuts add the best texture. If you're lucky to be there on a Tuesday, try the red curry! It definitely hits for a midday pick-me-up. Warm and home-y, nothing beats that.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
If you are looking for some authentic Thai food, look no further. This is by far one of my favorite hole in the wall restaurants in Birmingham. 10/10 would recommend! I come here all the time, it is very homey and the staff is so nice. Due to COVID-19, the dining area is closed and are only doing carry out orders. My favorite dishes include the panang chicken, the fried dumplings and the basil fried rice. I love spicy, so i always ask for a side of their home made green sauce. Their sweet and spicy sauce is also very tasty, and its also home-made. They also have daily specials, and they offer law enforcement discounts!

Chris P.

Yelp
We came back post-pandemic after enjoying their food back in 2019 for a competition. Food is still heavenly good, well prepared by an authentic Thai cook. Spicy Basil in chicken has that overtly basil flavor but not too overpowering. I love the unique egg cooked 'over easy' on top of the rice. Pad Kee Mao (also known by Americans as Drunken Noodle) has its distinct smoky flavor of goodness! Their special for the day is Red Curry which was fine, I was more of a green curry fan. This is a legit place for an authentic Thai cuisine.

Chip C.

Yelp
I always see Blue Pacific on the 'hidden gems' type lists of places to eat around Birmingham, and I finally got to come here and give it a shot. The previous times I've tried, they've been closed / out of the country. We tried several things here. We started with the coconut soup and some fried wontons. The wontons were great. The soup was good, but I've had better. The main course, the Pad Si Ew, was very good. Pad Si Ew is my go-to for Thai food, and this did not disappoint. My wife got the special of the day, Green Curry. It was a bit too spicy for her, but I enjoyed it a lot. It had just the right amount of heat to where it had spice, but not too hot. I would order that again when I was in the mood for something spicy. Don't blink or you'll miss this place. It's literally an old gas station/ hole in the wall type of place. Not much parking, but it's definitely worth coming out and giving it a shot.

Jill W.

Yelp
Blue Pacific is always so delicious. Their Pad Thai and spring rolls were fantastic.

Reginald C.

Yelp
Best Thai food spot in the Birmingham area!! We absolutely love the food and the service is great too. Our go-to is the Chicken Panang. They have best spring rolls I've ever tasted. The food has always been ready as promised. We try to go anytime we're in the Hoover area. Keep doing what you're doing. You are servicing the area in a major way.

Khoi F.

Yelp
This place is one of the hidden gems of the Birmingham area. Looks like a gas station on the outside but the food is amazing. Would definitely recommend calling ahead as they take a while to prepare the food (probably because of the insane amount of orders that they receive). Would also recommend calling earlier in the evening rather than later if you plan on eating here. I had the Namtok and my wife had the Pad Si Ew. Both were delicious.

Cat G.

Yelp
First time for me very good food but you really do need to call ahead they start taking calls at 4:30 we called in at 5 and the parking lot was full we waited and it was worth it

Katie J.

Yelp
I was so surprised to realize that I haven't left a review for Blue Pacific yet! This little gem, named one of Birmingham's 10 best restaurants by yelp, has been a favorite of mine for years. Tucked inside of what was, until recently, a gas station, you'll drive right past the Hoover Foodmart sign in front without any clue there's incredible Thai food inside. There's no sign indicating that this is a restaurant, and I think they like it that way! Inside looks like, well, a convenience store. They've added more seating over the years, but even the tables and chairs are a mix and match variety of secondhand pieces. There are still some coolers left from the convenience store days, and you can choose a drink from within or a fountain drink. Now the food...omg the food. Delivered to your table usually by the perpetually smiling and friendly owner, and on disposable plates to boot, is probably the best Thai food in the Birmingham area. Some of my favorite dishes over the years have been the Pad Thai, Panang Chicken, and the Spicy Basil Beef. I also really enjoy the coconut soup and spring rolls. Everything is always served fresh, hot, and delicious. The portions are large and I always have enough to take home for lunch the next day. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Your tummy will thank you!

Linh C.

Yelp
I'm sad to have to reduce my rating from 4 stars to 3 stars based on my latest meal at Blue Pacific. I ordered Pad Thai and two orders of Phat se ew to go. At 7 pm on a Friday evening, they were busy and told me it would take 1 hr. Ok, that's fine. I picked up my order around the 45 min time frame. At home, I eagerly opened my phat se ew and was a bit disappointed. It looked like 3/4 of the usual portion, was very oily, and hardly had any vegetables! One reason why I love phat se ew so much is because it has broccoli and carrots. Although the entrees tasted great, I feel that the quantity and value of these entrees have decreased. Sure, you can request extra veggies for an extra $1.50 but the amount of veggies in the normal order just wasn't what it used to be.

Natasha S.

Yelp
Hadn't been for a while. They have no indoor dining anymore which is unfortunate. We decided to eat outside but it was too cold and windy so ended up eating in the car. The food was as delicious as I remembered it. It was to point. We all got spicy basil beef and it was hot, fresh and yummy! We also got a spicy noodles with shrimp to try and that was super delish too! Will go back more often for sure!

Don M.

Yelp
Best Thai food I have ever eaten. Everything there is delicious. Spring rolls...chicken wings...Pad Thai...steamed vegtables...and everything else...Friendly staff...Outdoor dining...could eat there every day...Try it ...You will love it!

Robert H.

Yelp
Had never been to Blue Pacific, but had meant to try it for quite some time based on my sister's love for it. We went on a Friday night and they were packed. We were behind several people to order and most of the tables were occupied so we decided to get it as take out since we live just a few minutes away. It took a good 30 minutes to get our food and we should have called it in or tried it another day when they weren't so busy. The food was phenomenal. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. We got the wings to share and they have a very unique taste with the sauce it comes with. For my entree I get the lad se ew with chicken. I would happily get a meal again from here, but would either try it for lunch or call it in ahead of time.

Nikita P.

Yelp
It's such a nice place with great ambiance. The sushi was really good and the drinks were pretty tasty. Our server was really responsive and a pleasure to deal with.

Parker S.

Yelp
Had an exceptional experience at Blue Pacific today. Im a sucker for a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that delivers great food. Blue Pacific is conveniently located close to me right off Highway 280. Parking is tight near lunch so be sure to plan ahead. The outside and inside are nothing special when it comes to design but, I do like the openness and the blue paint all over. You start by going to the counter and ordering off the menu. I find this as a positive as you don't have a server and you can relax and eat some fantastic Thai food in "peace". They got a decently large group of people our food in about 10, minutes which was thoroughly impressive! The food: I ordered the Pork Pad Thai, although chicken pad thai is everyones normal go to from what I hear. To be quite honest I wasn't expecting my $9 Pad Thai to blow me away, but the sweet/peanut flavors combined to really impress. They didn't skimp on pork or peanuts to put on top of the Pad Thai either. I will definitely be coming back here after all the rave reviews and the great food I got today. Blue Pacific has a new fan.

Natalie S.

Yelp
Best Thai food in Birmingham. My boyfriend and I got takeout from Blue Pacific the other night. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and the chicken pad Thai with a side of spring rolls. We placed our order over the phone and it took about 30 minutes. The service is always the best there, and they deliver the food to your car when you pull up. I will definitely be back to order something different off the menu!

Shelby L.

Yelp
OMG!! This place is just amazing. So I had low key been craving some pad thai and was like I'll just pick this up on the way home. I'd heard about it forever now and it's only 5 min. away. Now I'm like HOW HAVE I LIVED THIS LONG WITHOUT EATING HERE!? I'm still veggie so I ordered the fried tofu appetizer and the pad thai with tofu. Bf got some spicy chicken noodle thing (all I know is meat was involved). Currently they aren't doing dine in so I got it as take out. Wowza. The tofu appetizer was great. Came with sweet and sour sauce and peanuts which I dumped all over it. Fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside and- actually cooked on the inside! A rare feat for sure. The pad thai was amazing. Came with peanuts I sprinkled on it. The tofu is tiny and a lot throughout meaning it gets fully cooked all the way through unlike bigger squares of it. It also comes with little pieces of bread soaked in some kind of sauce and this is the SECRET SAUCE of this dish. I'm obsessed. I picked this meal up on a Tuesday and all week I was thinking about this dish and experience and we went back on Saturday for more. Truly can't rave about this place enough. You just know it's one of those amazing family establishments. Fair prices for good quality of food. Will always go back.

Kayla J.

Yelp
Eating the food from Blue Pacific is like lying in an angel's warm embrace while melting into a euphoric journey of flavors. I see myself in Blue Pacific - unassuming on the outside, but even a small taste of the inside will leave you wanting more. My dying wish will include one final taste of their Tom Yum soup. Friends, don't walk. Run. 20/10 recommend.

Caroline S.

Yelp
Looking for a great takeout Thai restaurant during COVID or any time really? This is your spot! Blue Pacific is in a small building and it's easily missed if you're driving down Lonra Road. However, it may be my favorite Thai restaurant in Bham! First, it is a small, family-owned restaurant, so I love that. The spring rolls are so crispy and warm when you get them, I always get 4 since you can never have too many. I've tried multiple dishes from Blue Pacific and it's hard to say which one is the best. This time I ordered the Pad Si Ew and Pad Kee Mao and they were great! If you want a spicy noddle dish, the Pad Kee Mao hits the spot! The Pad Thai and Panang Curry are always my favorites too. I can't wait to try more of their dishes! We'll be back soon!
