Blue Ruin Speakeasy

Ordered an aperol spritz and it tasted like crayons. Asked the bartender to help us out by making another drink or taking it off the tab. Wasn’t an option. Long story short, don’t order that. Other than that, the games were on. The scenery was nice and the echo from conversation was loud. Guess that’s a good thing. Overall. 3/5

Great little “Speakeasy” niche bar offers delicious craft cocktails and cool surroundings. They offer parking, plenty of tv’s, & surprisingly ample areas to hangout both indoors and out! Each drink is unique… A rare Metaire find!

Stopped here for a few drinks on a Friday night, it wasn’t so busy that we couldn’t get drinks but the bar seating was definitely full. I had the matador, twist on a margarita and absolutely delicious, and the Siamese dream, this one was a little weird because I’ve never had anything like it but not bad. The bartender was very chill definitely thing we’ll be back at some point.

Great drink choices. Be sure to check out the back patio area and back room.

Excellent friendly service. Extremely well craft drinks (Smoked Old Fashion for me). Great variety and plenty of space out back in case the front looks crowded. Don't be put off by the small front end appearence. Very clean and welcoming. I reccomend for a relaxing weekday evening.

We had a great experience here. The cocktails were hand crafted and very tasty. I tried the Espresso Martini and Peach Julep.

My most favorite place to go! The drinks are meticulously crafted, they are delicious and well balanced. The atmosphere is dark but inviting, small and approachable. I love to sit at the bar and watch the bartenders make each drink. Brooke is a gem, she remembers your name and is excellent at her craft. Mmmm mouth watering. My favorites: Spicy margarita Cucumber gimlet Old fashioned Espresso martini

This has become our favorite before dinner cocktail spot. Delicious cocktails, comfortable surroundings, and very knowledgeable bartenders. The specialty cocktails change often, and all have been delicious and creative

My friend and I were excited to try a new place only to find that the service and the drinks here were pretty awful. My cheeriness was constantly met with a bothered attitude from the bartender. My drinks were watery and half the amount of what you'd expect. The parking is confusing and limited. The inside felt like a library. Despite the number of people occupying the space, it was eerily quiet. There was no music, not even a hum, to set the ambience. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this spot.

This place is so cute on the inside and the ambiance is nice. I really like their cocktail menus and their outside seating too! The service was good, as quick as it could be with only a few bartenders and a packed house. Definitely want to go back!

This was a cool spot in Metairie!!! The drinks were very good!! Happy hour specials are great here!!! I do like the outdoor patio area too!! Just wish they would serve food!

Blue Ruin Speakeasy is an appropriately nondescript bar offering an impressive lineup of cocktails. I started with my first-ever chocolate martini, which is very outside of my libation comfort zone. However, the boozy, frosty drink was strong yet decadent. It tasted like a boozy Frosty -- I very easily could have had another (and then some). Next, I decided to mix things up for my second drink with the Gangster's Punch. The bourbon paired well with the St. Germain and BlackBerry with a tasty finish from the mint. Both drinks were fantastic and made me want to explore some of the other drinks on the menu. The service was great and the simple, laid back decor made for an overall very enjoyable experience. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely be back.

I came here because someone mentioned this place offered expresso martinis. I am on a coffee + booze kick lately. Well I hadn't heard of this place or read about an opening. I walked in and Brooke the bartender greeted me. I sat at the bar and she handed me the menu of craft cocktails. There is a happy hour as well M-F 3 or 4-7. I saw the martini expresso and ordered it. It wasn't on the happy hour menu unfortunately but I had to try it. Brooke made it perfectly. It had a few coffee beans in it and was still a little creamy. I tried the chocolate martini next, which honestly I liked better. The rum of the glass had Graham cracker crumbs on it I believe and the inside of the glass all chocolate syrup. Very delicious. The cocktails range from about 11 or 12 bucks. The place is small so not good for groups. But it is a nice place to grab a nice quality cocktail in metairie. The bar has a nice chandelier above it. The bar is a squared center kn the room with liquor bottles, alot of coffee liquor, in the middle. The walls are beautifully decorated. There are 2 poker machines on the right as you enter. There's about 10 bar stools and about 2 or 3 small tables on the left as you walk in. The people that patronized were friendly as well. It is a nonsmoking establishment. I definelty enjoyed myself and love finding good quality places like this in Metry.

Gosh I love this place!!! 1rst the bartenders are fantastic both of them are really. 2) The cocktails are fantastic. They change the menu regularly, do it's always fun and crash. But they keep the best and there is nothing better than their Salted Caramel Martinis or as I now call them dessert. I've decided to skip desert at restaurants and come here instead for a night cap,sweet treat. But it gets better because there is something for everyone! I'm a Gin fan so their Bees Sneeze are great as well as their Gimlets (which has become my favorite drink). But it gets better... they have this smoked old fashion that smells and taste amazing. I could go on and on, since I'm trying to try all their cocktails (it might take me a while). So finally the space is lovely and I love to be served in really nice glasses. Now their outdoor and back space needs a little love. There is nothing wrong with it, it is just a little plain compared to the main bar area. Right now this is my favorite bar.

Drinks were great. The customer service left A LOT to be desired. Shame too because I live in the hood and would love a new go to spot for a great cocktail.

Service is SNOBBY and RUDE begging for tips!!!!! The menu said a beer was 4.00 So gave the bartender 5.00 she says "great" with a negative attitude and I didn't understand why ....I'm thinking im tipping One dollar....that I think is fair for opening one beer. Apparently it was 4.00 with out tax so when I told her I didn't need change she throws the .50 in the tip bucket ROLLS HER EYES and says "GEE THANKS." So I called her out on the fact that she was just rude to me over a tip and I asked for change for 10.00 bill ....so this rude bartender could get her tip and have her way... I tipped her 1.50 for opening one beer .... Later I found out she's the owner!!!!!! This is just my opinion, she should have more respect for her customers and not treat ppl like trash and if she can't have a better attitude then maybe she shouldn't be behind the bar BEGGING FOR TIPPS!! I work in the service industry too and would never act the way this woman did &honestly, she didn't deserve the 1.50 tip after the way she treated me as a customer. Place is SNOBBY and won't ever recommend for anyone to go here!

Blue Ruin is NOT closed! As of today, I confirmed with the bar that the Yelp status is wrong and they are indeed still open. Can't wait to go tomorrow night!!! Also, I've reported the fact that it says closed and it's being looked into.

Went for happy hour and loved it! Great cocktails for a good happy hour price. It looks renovated inside.

this place is cute, however.....it's also dark, loud, hot, and tiny. we went with a group of 5 and we were for sure pushing the limits of space. also, when i walk into places in the summer i expect the AC to be kicking since it's 100+ degrees outside. i don't expect to sit down and have sweat dripping down my legs when i'm indoors like i did here. i want the bar to be cold NOT the bartender... the woman bartending was SO cold and rude. it was so obvious she was miserable and didn't want to be there. so much to the point as to the strangers sitting next to me at the bar saw how she was speaking and interacting with me and they said, "wow, she really doesn't like you!" so... cute in theory, but not worth it unless you want to be crammed into a hot space with rude bartenders.

This is a super cute bar! Whoever designed the inside did a great job with the colors and the whole atmosphere. It's very inviting. It also has a saucer history of being a brathel (according the bartender). The drinks were tasty, and I will definitely be back to try more.

Nice atmosphere. Very clean. Prices for speakeasy craft drinks are very reasonable. Also the first speakeasy I've been to that offers happy hour. Will visit again next time I come to New Orleans

Wow who knew you could get quality upscale craft cocktails in a swanky non homogenous bar in Metairie. Recommend! Dig it!

I absolutely love this place! The atmosphere is fantastic, the drinks are amazing, the staff is friendly, the parking is discrete, the list goes on!
