First time visiting Astoria with daughter-in-law and two grandkids... Cappuccino- perfect! Baked breads- Amazing!!! Cookies, cinnamon rolls and Fairy cup cakes - scrumptious and perfect accompaniment to coffee! Everyone "fits" here from locals to college age & young entrepreneurs working the net to retired folk enjoying the day. If there is a classic Astoria coffee shop it would be here- Wonderful!

We stopped here for breakfast on a long road trip and were not disappointed. The food we had was freshly prepared and all very delicious. We also got coffee which was just the pick-me-up we needed. Their bagels were spectacular - some really great flavours and really well priced. I'd really recommend this place!

Google
Delicious baked treats and bagels. I always try to make an appearance here when visiting Astoria. There's no denying the quality here. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, and the bread it was served on was definitely the highlight. The cheese bagels are fantastic, so delicious I got a whole bag of them to snack on for the remainder of my stay. As good as their product is, the prices seem geared towards gouging tourists. $6.50 for a traditional baguette or a regular old cinnamon roll seems laughable to me. But if you live locally and have an Astoria Public Library card and present it, you get the "local price."

I feel bad.. perhaps my family of 8 was a little bit overwhelming first thing in the AM but a couple of us had minor ingredients missing from what we ordered.. (I.E: red onions or sausage from the hash brown dish) but the overall "atmosphere" within the establishment was very appealing. Great alternative versus eating breakfast at our hotel that we vacated earlier this morning! Would visit AGAIN in the future! :)

Google
Overall would recommend for healthy, gluten-free/vegan/vegetarian options! Service was SO incredibly friendly from order to delivery at the table. They clearly care about their customers' experience and is a major reason I'd visit again. Coffee = 10/10 (and I'm picky) Pastries = 10/10 (thank you for a GF option!) Food = 8/10 Huevos Scorcheros was pretty good. I could've maybe added a little salt and was a tad surprised by the small size of the dish -- I got the large, which was only an extra egg and it was less than 1/2 the size of a Chipotle burrito bowl if that's any indication. Had the smallest amount of cheese...I almost forgot it was supposed to be in there, but saw a few shreds. LOL. I would get it again and maybe add 1-2 extra ingredients. The gluten free toast was $1 up-charge, which I wasn't aware of, but it was totally worth it. That was THE BEST GLUTEN FREE TOAST I have ever had. Breakfast burrito was a little on the dry and bland side, and seemed to be missing the cheese. (This seems to be a theme.) Would not get this again.

Google
Cute coffee shop in downtown Astoria. Very busy on a weekend! We got two day old (discounted) baked goods which were delicious. The breakfast sandwich and burrito were fine but weren’t my favorite

Google
Great atmosphere. Good coffee. The fresh baked yeast breads smelled awesome, but sadly i eat keto.

Google
Very cool spot for coffee, with a great selection of breads and bakery items that are on the healthier side! (Organic Ingredients). It was odd that they sold the NY Times paper for $8.50. But your experience will likely be very enjoyable

Yelp
Incredible breakfast food at this coffee spot in Astoria! We shared a number of pastries and coffee, and everything delighted our crew!

Deanna G.

Yelp
If you're a local, you probably love the Blue Scorcher. But I see a different atmosphere, attitude and decline in product quality. Back in the day, the service was great and their pastries top notch.....the croissants in particular were delicious and substantial. As with everything else, prices of supplies have gone thru the roof and it has certainly impacted this place. The pastries cost an arm & a leg AND they've shrunk in size. I didn't take a photo, but the size of the croissant I got the other day reminded me of a mini croissant rather than a full sized one. And it was $8.00? I can't remember...maybe $6. Regardless, too expensive for the size. I also feel like their bread has become tasteless. The texture is good, but the taste is very bland. As far as the service, it is as some have reviewed, not the most friendly, outgoing bunch of folks. It's one thing to be quiet, but quiet and unwelcoming doesn't fit well in the service industry, imho. Unfortunately I won't be taking my business to the Blue Scorcher anymore. Between the prices, downsizing of products and unwelcoming atmosphere, it's the end for me.

Yelp
I've been visiting Blue Scorcher since 2015, and it never disappoints! This bakery is truly one of the finest in NW Oregon, offering exceptional breads, pastries, and prepared foods. To enjoy the best selection, I highly recommend arriving early, as their popular items go fast! While there can be a wait, it's definitely worth it for the delicious treats that await you!

Laura M.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast tacos and scramble. Great coffee. Fast service. Colorful shop with a lending library, cloth napkins and loads of character. Pastries are delicious.

Sue B.

Yelp
This is our third visit to this lovely little rustic bakery. On this visit, we had the two eggs and toast on their rustic bread with their homemade jam. We also got a blackberry cream cheese, danish, and the blueberry Bundt cake. The cream cheese danish did not have much cream cheese, but it was still delicious. The drip coffee we got was especially tasty - it was an Ethiopian coffee. We got a 2nd cup to go.

Charles L.

Yelp
This is a must whenever we visit Astoria. The only problem is trying to decide what to eat... everything is delicious (and super healthy)!

Grahame G.

Yelp
Pretty good find as we were wandering about the area. Their breakfast sandwich featuring a friend egg on a bun (I had the extra tempeh sausage too) was just the job, almost made us feel like we were back home in Scotland LOL! A damn fine cup of coffee too.

Olystacy B.

Yelp
This is a really great bakery. It is very popular so they sell out of items very early in the morning, at least on weekends, which is a bummer if you are not a person who wants to wake up at the crack of dawn on your day off. If you want a good selection, go early By 10 they have started selling out of many of their popular items. They offer so many delicious pastries and items but since they sell out of them so quickly I havent got to try very many. I wish they would just make a little more of each item. I loved the cardamom roll. They also make fresh baked bread and granola. They make coffee drinks as well, which are very good. There is often a line out of the door and seating is limited.

Matt C.

Yelp
All the yummy food is at the blue scorcher.. here's a sandwich inspired with blue scorcher's olive bread!

Chris L.

Yelp
Stopped in mid-day on a Friday for some needed caffeine. Location is really handy and in easy walking distance from a lot of other places downtown. Staff were friendly and our drinks were ready in short order. Ambiance was nice and the drinks were tasty. We'd come back again.

Emma T.

Yelp
Have been eating their GF bread for years but never managed to stop in for a meal until today! Came in for a late breakfast. Got their house made granola which was delicious. Iced latte was a little strong but still good. Husband got breakfast tacos with homemade corn tortillas. They liked delicious but he ate them all before I could snag a bite. Good service. You just order at the counter, by the time we ordered and sat down the line was out the door so keep that in mind. Worth a try for food, baked goods or breads!

Brittany H.

Yelp
Simply AMAZING!!! I am not vegan or vegetarian but I have no problem eating to fit those. My fiance, co worker and friend all said we had to go to breakfast here and they were not wrong. The restaurant was crowded so go early, plan on taking it home or waiting for a place to sit. We got lucky and found a sit as we ordered. The coffee's were delicious! We ordered potatoes to share and then we each got a item.. Not that we needed to as we were super full. All three plates were packed with flavor. We did want to try the some baked goods but we could not imagine getting any more food so next time we are in town we will have to stop in. The restaurant was clean. They ask that you bust your own tables which was no problem for me. It is crowd as stated early so we eat and left. If it was slower I can imagine it would be nice to sit for a while at but when we went on a Sunday morning that was not the case.

Martina Q.

Yelp
First time here there burritos were amazing we ordered almond croissants they didn't have much almond paste so other than that it was delicious.

Kathie s.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!! The ambiance is perfect, warm, friendly and a great place to meet a friend or sit and read a book. As a vegetarian, this is my spot for food as the menu has all vegetarian selections and everything is Yummy! I also really enjoy the coffee and the baked goods are out of this world. I have been here many times and each time it has been a wonderful experience from breakfast to lunch and for a quick cup of joe and bakery item this is a great start or end to your day.

Brian B.

Yelp
Our third stop on this tour of Astoria was this eclectic, incredible coffee shop and bakery. The smell of coffee and pastries is quite peaceful. They make delicious cookies and brownies. The maple latte was incredible and something I have not had before. The servers were super friendly and welcoming.

M C.

Yelp
Goof coffee & breakfast tacos! Nice community feel. Organic, gluten free and vegan options.

Joy P.

Yelp
get here early if you want a full selection of baked goods! you won't regret it! i got the cardamom almond roll and it's fluffy, soft and full of flavor. it screams that it was made this morning!!! i also ordered a tempeh reuben to go so i could take it on my half day coastal adventure and it's so beautiful i don't know if i can wait until lunchtime but i know i will thank myself if i manage to :) they have beautiful looking loaves of bread that they'll also slice for you and plenty of seating with old weathered yellow walls and cute red chairs. lots of beverage choices with non dairy milk options as well! there was a line that moved quickly a little after 8am, but they open at 7 so it can be a choose your own experience depending on what time you want to arrive however i would bet weekend days are going to be more bonkers. this should be a place you check out if you're in astoria or passing through.

Michele S.

Yelp
Adorable bakery cafe with very sweet staff. Good coffee with a variety of alt milks (including at the fixings bar, where I was able to add some oat milk to my cold brew instead of cream) and vegetarian and vegan selections. Homemade pastry and bread round out the small menu. It's a counter service cafe, with big picture windows and sidewalk seating that lets you get a glimpse of the Columbia River if you sit in the right place.

Nellyda A.

Yelp
Delicious pastries, friendly counter service and yummy coffee. What's not to love? I had a savory croissant and a vegan cinnamon roll. Both were perfect. I didn't try the artisan breads but loaves were on display up front, and look amazing. Excellent selection of sweet, savory and other baked goods. Cute space with big windows and high ceilings, weekend bustling locals and vacation goers in equal proportions. Can't wait to return!

Reece I.

Yelp
BEST cinnamon roll i've ever had (but pricy but soooooo good). It was super busy but the staff were doing their best. It's a pretty open cafe as well. However, that is the WORST chai latte i've ever had in my life and is the main reason for the review. Why did I spend nearly $7 for a cup of water with a splash of chai flavoring. It was so watered down tasting and such. I dumped it in a bush and through the cup away it was so bad. I'm will NEVER order chai here again, and probably never a drink and stick to pastries and such.

Emily G.

Yelp
Lovely setting and delicious breakfast. I got the egg scramble and it was very good. It was cooked perfectly and came with buttered toast and delicious jam. My husband got the burrito and liked it, although felt they forgot to add cheese. We agreed the scramble was the winner of the two. The coffee was also delicious and service was friendly!

Catherine G.

Yelp
We were looking for vegan options in our travels and Yelp helped us find this gem! Very tasty food, a comfortable setting, a bookshelf with books to peruse, bakery items looked awesome although we didn't try them. A great place for lunch!

Gris S.

Yelp
I would like to start by saying that their baked goods are great as well as their breads but their Americano coffee is just bad, extremely watery and it looks like watered down tea. The girl who made my coffee was new and the staff was very nice and friendly but their espresso coffee was awful! Another lady who had ordered an Americano as well had the same complaint. I really don't know what coffee they are using but they definitely need to switch to a different brand.

Nami N.

Yelp
We stop by Astoria and went to the Blue Scorcher Berkeley & Cafe for breakfast. I wanted to eat a croissant and chosen savory croissant and almond croissant. Also my hubby ordered breakfast scrambles eggs. I asked a lady for no caffeine and healthy option of tea. She suggested me to try Hibiscus tea. I know that Hibiscus tea is a good antioxidants. We sat at the table and enjoyed breakfast. I love their atmosphere and warm service. We'll be back here again.

Brian F.

Yelp
After seeing all of the one star reviews for the Astoria Burger King, we decided to visit this charming bakery/cafe instead. What a great decision that turned out to be. I ordered the scramble and it was delicious! The jam that came with the bread was out of this world. I will be dreaming of their pastry case tonight!.

Toni L.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot for a cup of tea and a thick slab of focaccia bread. The service is always friendly and unassuming. The ambiance feels like I'm dropping by a well-loved neighbor's kitchen for a bite to go with my book. Cannot recommend this place enough

Emily J.

Yelp
We enjoyed Blue Scorcher so much our first morning in Astoria, we didn't try any other coffee shops during our visit. Each day I had a different latte. Vanilla (solid), lavender (glad I tried it although reminded me more of a bubble bath so not my favorite), and cardamum (favorite). We also enjoyed some of their baked goods, my favorite being the savory croissant, followed closely by an almond thing. Super friendly staff and space.

Mango M.

Yelp
Good baked goods! Service was a little odd, I would prefer not to have my order taken by two cashiers holding hands ? Kinda seemed unprofessional & made me uncomfortable

Jesse M.

Yelp
Me and my fiancé decided to take a trip to Oregon for the first time. we decided to stop in here which was a mistake because the customer service is not very good when we went to the counter the person there just ignored us and then walked away. I'm sure the food is good. Overall just a waste of precious vacation time.

Morgan M.

Yelp
Dog friendly great staff of kind polite professional and very helpful highly recommend GLUTEN FREE BREAD AND MORNING TREATS! Friendly feeling seating spacious.

Chris R.

Yelp
I'm a carnivore but I still found a breakfast I like. Great "bohemian " vibe. Nice people and a killer name. Love meeting here for coffee, pastries and good times

Matt B.

Yelp
A great local all-vegetarian cafe that's been around for a long time now, with plenty of vegan options. We stop every time we pass through town. We stopped here for breakfast on a Friday morning around 10am and it was pretty busy. You order at the counter and they bring your food out. Their menu is all-vegetarian, with some vegan and veganizable items clearly listed. Sadly, their more breakfasty items are all non-vegan (it'd be nice to have a tofu scramble or something), so for vegan items, you can do a couple different tempeh sandwiches, a potato dish, and a bowl. My wife went for the Tempeh Reuben ($15.50), and I did the Golden Roasted Potatoes ($8.50) and added some tempeh ($2.50 for 2 pieces) and black beans ($3.75) to the side. They brought out our food in about 10 minutes. My wife's reuben was really nice, slathered with mayo (maybe too much for her, but I liked it), and served on rye with pickled red cabbage/sauerkraut and a reuben sauce, with a side salad. Expensive for what you get but tasty. My potato hash was solid, served with a somewhat scarce serving of arugula and a smoky paprika-based aioli. Simple but tasty. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Always a good experience here. Recommended.

Susan M.

Yelp
My favorite place to have breakfast late, Cardomen rolls and baked breads are a wonderful treat. Good coffee too and great service. Love this spot.

Jewel M.

Yelp
Everything about this place rocked! All organic bakery items with several GF and vegan options.... everything I had was delicious! The only one use item I saw was the to go coffee cup.... cloth napkins, spoons for stirring mug of coffee and even a sign letting you know that they compost rather than discard any remains. Service was very pleasant both times I went and they were happy to take the time to answer any questions about their menu items. I was very impressed with this cafe!

Lucinda D.

Yelp
It takes a minute to figure out the ropes of how to dine in at the Blue Scorcher...but we really enjoyed our breakfast! Their bread is amazing, and we couldn't pass up the decadent cinnamon rolls. Highly recommend this place! Good coffee too.

Allison H.

Yelp
Blue Scorcher bakery is a great bakery and lunch spot with a homemade feel. There are plenty of healthy, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free choices. All of it is super yum!

Sabrina J.

Yelp
I don't know if it was just because I was hungry, but the lemon blueberry Bundt cake slice ($4.50) was divine. Despite being 5 minutes before closing, the slice had the perfect sweetness and moisture. Only thing is Blue Scorcher Bakery should consider heating up the slice before giving it to customers. That would make it perfect! It looks like a good place to sit with friends or study as they have lots of chairs and tables.

Chris R.

Yelp
Hands down the best quality food we enjoyed during our stay in Astoria. Employee owned and operated, the passion is evident in everything they do. We will be back!

Arlene S.

Yelp
I ordered their cardamom and honey latte with chocolate applesauce cake. The cardamon latte was extremely bitter and the honey was not stirred/well blended into the latte. The chocolate applesauce cake was very heavy and dense which I couldn't even finish it.

Blonde T.

Yelp
Breakfast Farm Eggs & Scorcher Toast; eggs were requested as "over medium" however our eggs were way over cooked. Hard little rubbery eggs you could hardly cut with a fork. Eggs served with a tiny amount of wilted greens and 3 grapes. Toast and jam, OK only but nothing special. No service whatsoever and dirty table. Next time we will keep looking for another place.

Darrin D.

Yelp
Great service...outdoor seating...good cappuccino, and the breakfast tacos were the perfect way to start the day. Sadly, they were out of their house made chai tea, but I look forward to trying it tomorrow. The sweet treats behind the glass counters looked amazing.

Justine S.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast on Sunday morning. They had a case full of pastries, and other baked goods. They also have a menu with breakfast items. I decided to get the yogurt and granola. My husband just got some toast with jam. And my daughter got some thing from the pastry case. The granola was OK but the yogurt was more tired than I had hoped. My husband's toast was just OK. I think the best thing we got was the pastry from the case. There is only street parking, but there is a abundant amount. There is indoor and outdoor seating. When we got there, it was not too busy. But as we were leaving, the line was out the door. We come back for more baked items if I was in the area. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Violet D.

Yelp
Stopped here on a campin road trip with my Auntie. Was a hot mess when we stumbled in. Simple breakfast nurtured me in a way I can't describe. Gut health is Hell from surgical mutilation. This was the first meal I've eaten in a decade that didn't hurt. Felt like they musta cooked it with magic. Thank you guys

Evie W.

Yelp
Please consider updating your hours!! This place opens at 7.. we waited in line with a menu in hand patiently. And then get to the front of the line and they advise that the full menu is not available until 8. A simple sign could have fixed our frustration. Plus the hours don't even match what you have on Google / Yelp. I don't get it..

Juliana G.

Yelp
Fantastic! I got a savory croissant with pesto and I can't remember the last time I had such a good pastry! I also got a 1/2 off day old "fairy cake" (cupcake). It was still moist, but not really what I was hoping for. Not enough chocolate flavor for my liking but still good.

Sydney Z.

Yelp
YUM! We were blown away by the entire menu and the kind humans they have working. Everything we had was delicious! There is a line out the door for a reason--don't let the line make you choose somewhere else. This is clearly a local spot as many people in line were grabbing bagels and bread for breakfast at home. The bagels are some of the best I have ever had. I am craving their potatoes and bagels already. This is a must stop when in Astoria!

Travis And Jenny H.

Yelp
We stumbled on this place and had the Best vegan applesauce chocolate cake. It's an actual bakery with a full menu of baked goods in the cutest environment.

Rebecca R.

Yelp
It was closed. Looked like they were renovating. Hopefully next time we are in area it will be open

Kathie H.

Yelp
Food and espresso drinks are good...you can sit down...it is actually a bakery. Very clean...good service. The food is vegan and mostly organic I believe with bread that is made there and is quite delicious...my only minus would be that it's expensive... I had some potatoes (a small bowl)... some greens and a couple of eggs... and a breve... all in all it cost me about $23.75 (no meat) before tip. Still ..I would come back...not that many good coffee and food places in Astoria where you can sit a while.
