I didn’t think I liked sushi until I ate here. Went with family on a Sunday which is all day happy hour. Discounted drinks and food. Sangria is fantastic. Fresh food, good service , nice decor. Vegan friendly for our daughter. Highly recommend.

The almost All-Day happy hour menu is an incredible deal. The fish quality was solid and both rolls (The Lion King) & (The Roja) were great. The Sencha was also solid and enough for 2 people to share. Our Server Chris (or Kris) was great and her trainee Danielle was nice as well. 10/10 would recommend

The service and atmosphere were fantastic, but I wasn’t very impressed with the sushi. Miso soup was great. I ordered 3 different rolls from the happy hour menu and none of them were very good. Would be open to giving it another try and picking different rolls.

We ordered couple sushies, the best one is Amazon roll. Tuna tower was delicious as well. Their sushi is average. The atmosphere has nice vibe and it is good for hanging out with friends or date night.

Tried the veggie rolls and Hydration Coco at Blue Sushi Bar — super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The drink was light and refreshing, a perfect match. Great vibe and definitely recommend!

This was some of the best sushi I have had. Our server was amazing, made great recommendations and suggestions on the menu, was very informative.

Very high quality sashimi and nigiri! This is one of the best sushi spots in Chicago. Service was excellent and the place is low key and trendy at the same time. Truffle salmon appetizer was very good. They used the perfect amount of truffle to make sure it wasn't overwhelming. Sashito Pepper appetizer was great. The sauce is addicting. Definitely save the sauce to dip your sushi in. Black Tuna was incredible. A must try. Tried two types of Atlantic salmon - both awesome. Yellowtail Nigiri was very simple and good. Crispy rice roll was very good but it kind of fell apart when I picked it up.

Solid happy hour selection and prices. got 4 dishes and 3 drinks for around 70 bucks, can't complain. Fish was not the freshest, but it's the Midwest, what do you expect. Probably wouldn't come here to pay full price. About on par for your slightly above average chain sushi restaurant.

We came to Blue Sushi during their Happy Hour; 2pm-6pm. I suggest visiting during Happy Hour, so you can taste a variety of things at a fraction of the regular menu price. I was interested in their vegan items, being that I eat plant-based. They have a very extensive and impressive list of vegan options on the menu. The kombu miso soup is vegan and was very delicious. I had the Spicy Kaluna Crunch Roll which was good, just good, but nothing exciting or that I'd order again. The star of the show was my cocktail; the White Peach Daiquiri. It was just the right amount of mango rum, and the mix of flavors were on point. Normally, I don't like boba, but the boba in this drink isn't that tapioca chewy boba balls, they were like little flavor bubbles, they were delicious and complimentary. I highly recommend this cocktail! My brother enjoyed his food; especially, The Lion King. He didn't care for his cocktail, the China Doll, he said it was lacking alcohol. Our waiter, Lane, was lovely and attentive, and gave a great recommendation to my brother. Overall, I would return to try their extensive vegan menu and to get another White Peach Daiquiri.

"Blueshi" as we call it is so good!! Such a great addition to the neighborhood. Their cocktails are soo good. We love the shishito peppers. All the sushi I've tried is great, but I want to specifically shout out the large vegan sushi menu. It's so welcoming for those who don't eat fish. Make a reservation if you plan to come, because it's always poppin'.

Very cool interior with a lot of energy. Bartender made a nice old fashioned and took time to help me order even though she was super busy. I had an everything red roll with tempura shrimp and a nice sauce. I also got the truffle salmon that was super fresh and delicious. Definitely will be back. Parking is tough.

A great sushi spot in Lincoln Park! It is not your traditional sushi restaurant. It is very Americanized and it not traditional Japanese sushi. So some may take it the wrong way. Blu sushi is has great unique flavors and technique. For example, one of my nigiri rolls has friend sushi rice under the sashimi; the calamari had lots of veggies fried with it. I would recommend it here if you love sushi and want to try something new. They had a happy hour menu all day on Sunday. It is available on their website. Service is great. It seemed slow on a late afternoon on a Sunday so food was served fast. I will definitely be coming back!

Fresh and delicious! I appreciated how the salad had no extra moisture so the wontons were very crunchy, and the dressing was delicious. The chicken was a little dry, but everything else about the salad was spot on. The Spicy Tekka was delicious. It had a lot of flavor, fish was buttery smooth, and the spicy flavor had a kick that was not mayo base. There is a lot of searing room and there was a host right when I walked in. I took my order Togo and it was packaged great with everything I needed to enjoy.

Back again at Blue Sushi Sake Grill. Tried the Lion King Roll - it was a knock out and I recommend. It was challenging to hear conversation, as the music was quite loud. Food and drinks came out quickly, but we felt a bit rushed at the end.

I don't know how I have never been here but I have been missing out. Our group came here for dinner Saturday and we loved our meal. Being a vegetarian limits your options at most sushi places, but here we had so many options to choose from. Plus everything we ordered was fantastic: appetizers- edamame, lettuce wraps,& shishito peppers; sushi- thai hippie, Eden roll, crunchy cabbage, and cowgirl. Our service was prompt and attentive as well. Highly recommend this place for dinner!

Blue Sushi Sake Grill is a must try! I absolutely loved my entire experience here from the food to the service. To start, I was celebrating my birthday and when I checked in for my reservation they made me a card. How thoughtful?! I dined on their outdoor patio for an early evening Saturday birthday dinner. I made a reservation which I recommend it as the foot traffic picked up as the night progressed. The service was so attentive. My server gave me all his menu highlights and when I asked about flavor profiles, he was extremely knowledgeable with items on the menu! He checked on me often filling my water glass, chatting, and ensured I was enjoying my birthday dinner. The service was more than enough to make this a 5 star experience but the food was so good too!! Everything I ordered was so so tasty!! I ordered: To start, I had the dipping crab which was soft shell, lightly battered in tempura so it had a nice crunch/crisp with a tempura dipping sauce, so so yummy!! For rolls I ordered the Lion King, which was a crab roll with cucumber, salmon, eel sauce and chili aioli. The roll had a great flavor profile the spicy salmon really elevated the roll. Additionally I ordered the the Thriller which was shrimp tempura, crab, ponzu and a creamy thriller sauce. While a similar vibe to the Lion King, the thriller sauce was so bold in flavor had a good spice and was saucy so added a different texture experience to the sushi! I loved it! I had two cocktails during my visit both tasty with a good punch. Trust me you only need two lol. Bluetini was a blueberry martini and the Saketini was a martini with sake in it. Both as tasty as they sound! If you're not convinced yet, you have to simply go try for yourself. I absolutely recommend!

The place is very modern and clean. The waitress was nice and the happy hour deals were pretty good. The sushi and ragoons were good and the service was quick and helpful with the menu. Would definitely come back for another happy hour.

Great first experience here with takeout. I was in the neighborhood and in the mood for sushi. I usually don't go to a sushi place without a personal recommendation, but I made an exception due to the strength of Yelp! reviews. I ordered the coconut crab soup and the yellowtail roll. The flavors and freshness of both were excellent. Be aware that the soup portion is pretty small, which left me wanting more. However, I thought the roll was pretty generous. All things considered, I'd definitely return.

I enjoyed coming here last year, but I don't really go in this neighborhood after I stopped going back and forth to grad school. But I remember really liking the Up In Smoke (vegan smoked salmon) from my prior review and was looking for something fun to do, so I returned. I don't know what my server's name is, but the receipt says "AM BAR B." Whoever he is, he was so friendly and charming. Although I never said anything about it being my birthday, he immediately recommended dessert for birthdays and I looked at the people I was with (who clearly told him when I walked away to wash my hands). Although I was bummed that they no longer had vegan salmon, their whiskey sours are still delicious (not that Happy Hour pineapple version: ugh), and I enjoyed the Unami Maki (vegan BBQ eel) and Spicy Kaluna Crunch (plant-based tuna). The Eden Roll was good, but it tasted like the same old sweet potato tempura I've had a few other times so I gave most of that away. I wanted to eat something I'd definitely not be making anytime soon. That vegan eel and tuna were scrumptious. So was the Chocolate Torte. I'm going to have to start coming here more often. My new excuse is I left my headphones there, so I may pick something up again at the same time. (My only complaint is you cannot send a message via their website. Every time I try to submit my question, it says "Oops! Something went wrong while submitting the form.")

I should have seen previous reviews, but sushi was in fact expensive for the quality and amount of fish each roll had. I was also hoping for a more authentic vibe but I had overestimated what I was expecting. These rolls are a spin off of your usual rolls, with non-raw, raw, and vegan options. Nigiri (2 for $10) and sashimi options (5 thin pieces for $17) were also very expensive. The waitress was slow to fill our waters and our food took longer than expected to come out despite the place being empty. It was definitely an experience trying out their rolls and sashimi on the menu, the Hawaiian roll and Hotel Cali (both warm and fried in tempura batter) were not great, one had mango in the center that gave the roll a tart taste, the second had a sweet thai dressing, not a fan unfortunately 2/5. The Lion King and Cabo rolls lacked flavor and the filling overwhelmed the small amounts of raw salmon/tuna filling that went with it 3/5. The Tuna Tatake was refreshing but very thin, it was almost translucent. I think this establishment is suitable for those who are new to or trying creative sushi rolls. However, I wouldn't recommend it for people who crave the natural and fresh taste of seafood/fish.

Only been a couple times, both for happy hour. Might be one of the most extensive happy hour menus in Chicago! Great deals, and they seemed to be the actual normal portions. Decent quality sushi, and worth the visit!

I absolutely love this place! I have been here around 7-8 times so far. Never disappointed! We got the vegan sushi, cowgirl sushi is my favorite. The Brussels sprouts and miso soup are highly recommended as starters. The drinks are really good and on Sundays they have happy hours too, when I had gone it was for the entire day. Good service, very fast and the ambiance is great too!

This has become our new go to happy hour spot - delicious cocktails, great bar area with upbeat clubby music, fun bartenders. Also, not like outwardly baby friendly but we've always had a great time bringing ours and they've been super flexible with bringing the check early and checking in often. Plus the sushi is awesome, and the edamame!!!

This is one of our favorite date night spots in Chicago. The ambiance is amazing and lively....always packed for dinner. We went on a weeknight around 7:30pm and were lucky to find street parking across the street. The service is great and the wait time for food usually isn't that long. We love the vegan sushi options so that is always our go-to order. Cowgirl South Pacific Vegan Hot Night Unami Express Side of spicy mayonnaise is a MUST!! This place never disappoints and the sushi is just amazing!!

Go for the happy hour specials! Stay for the welcoming servers and relaxed atmosphere. I enjoyed the smoky tataki maki and the freshness of the Spanish fly. Not a fan of the sesame crusted calamari; the texture was not my cup of tea. Save room for yummy ice cream mochi!

TONS of vegetarian options and absolutely delicious! They also have some really fun cocktails - loved the Chinese doll! Fun ambience and great for large groups! We also had a wonderful server! Some of our favorite rolls were Thai hippie, shiitake to me, and crunchy cabbage! Would definitely fine back to try more!

Luckily I live VERY close to blue sushi so it is an easy decision when craving sushi! I have to say their happy hour deals are AMAZING! They have an all day happy hour on Sundays too! Their sushi isn't my favorite sushi in all of Chicago but what honestly is my favorite are the Brussel sprouts! It's very easy to get a table either inside or outside!

Two thumbs up for sure!! All of the servers were great and really worked together well. I loved the classy design and the music was the perfect volume- you could hear it fine but could still have a conversation. We started with the wontons (and ended up with 2 orders because the yummy sauce they're plated in is very spicy so my toddler wouldn't eat it) and edamame, and Kirins and hot saki. After that we went hog wild and ordered a whole smorgasbord of rolls. Everything was fantastic. I especially remember liking the unagi paired with pineapple- so different and delicious! The only thing I didn't love was the tempura ice cream- I think my dessert choice was influenced by all of the Kirin and hot saki. The whole experience was really fun and the fish was fresh and flavorful- I'd definitely recommend trying it!

Wow. Holy shit this place is awesome! Walked in randomly on a Friday night hoping for a low table for one. And I got like super cool low top seat at the sushi bar which would also be wheelchair accessible! Lots of hot tea options, I love the organic white peach. Yuuuum! Shout out to Lane! I was a little overwhelmed at the menu thanks to an edible kicking in right as I am trying to order! I told Lane what I don't like (eel and crunchy onion) and they were like "Oh I know exactly what you'll like," and pointed to a roll that looked exactly like I'll like it. AWESOME! Per Lane's rec I got The Beach roll. Omg it's SOOO good! My words cannot do this experience justice. But...imagine the spice and meatiness of pastrami, but the delicacy and umami of sushi, with a little jalapeño kick. Grilled Smoky taste, absolutely fabulous! Oh...my...God. The Itchy Sea Bass, Francine. Francine, the Itchy Sea Bass, oh my God. If you get nothing else here, get the Itchy Sea Bass!!! Literally if I wasn't already high when I ate it, I would have been high off the Itchy Sea Bass. MmMMMMH!! And who'd have thunk a sushi restaurant with a rather extensive VEGAN sushi selection. Lol now I know where to eat when I hang with vegan friends and we can all eat happy! They have info about where their fish is sourced! Celeste, the manager also took great care of me, making sure things were awesome (they were!) and they recommended a raspberry sorbet that I was super stoked to try! And woah! Raspberry sorbet with raspberry sauce is INTENSE but refreshing and delicious. There was almost too much of it, with every bite I said "That's enough I should stop!" But did not stop. Also their music is banging, I'm sure the other patrons got a bit of dinner and a show as I danced along! Fine by me! Random bonus footnote...the restroom has the little kick opener. Yay clean and sanitary hands! This was an absolutely delightful meal and I will totally be back! P.S.. Sorry for all the exclamation points!!! I also found out they have HAPPY HOUR every day from 3-6 and all day on Sunday!

Blue Sushi Sake is an amazing sushi spot in Lincoln Park! The ambiance is so nice and they have an outdoor patio for the summer. On Sundays, the happy hour is unbeatable because it includes so many of their rolls and drinks. They have a ton of vegetarian sushi rolls which I love, and their Shishito Peppers are some of the best ones I've tried with an incredible sauce/marinade. Service was great - Will definitely be coming here on more Sundays!

The food, service, and ambience were exactly what they should be and excellent. The sever and host offered suggestions and were friendly. We ordered a variety of things to share and everything was done extremely well. One of our party ordered dessert, tempura ice cream, it was massive and more than enough to share.

Go vegan. You will find that you will not have to miss sushi once you've tried their vegan rolls. Plus, on Tuesdays, they are 25% off. They offer many too choose from. So far, my favorite is the Cowgirl. I also love the Crunchy Cabbage, the Avo Kaluna, the Spicy Kaluna, and the Prince.

Brought my 10 year old daughter here for her special trip to Chicago. Ate here before going to see the blue man group (which since stopped performing in Chicago area). Food was delicious. Got to sit outside which was really nice in August. Service was great. My daughter still talks about this place.

I sadly have to take away 2 stars... Why? Blue has removed all vegan shrimp and vegan salmon rolls from their menu, leaving us with less options and just more veggie--centered rolls that we can get anywhere. Blue-PLEASE find a new distributor for your mock meats and get these options back on the menu. It's so hard to find creative vegan sushi.

i came here on a lunch break as i work in the area and ill definitely be back!! as an avid sushi lover & a former vegan - wow!!! there are so many options here for anyone regardless of any dietary restrictions. although i typically love raw fish, i got a vegan roll today just to pay homage to my past and i didn't feel like i missed out on anything. not only was the presentation of the Eden roll really cute (it looks like a caterpillar), but the flavors are all there. i love sweet potatoes in sushi rolls and i really liked the brown vs white rice in this as well! the edamame hummus added a smooth and creamy texture that juxtaposed perfectly with the sweet potato tempura. they have a TON of vegan options and i'll be back to try both those and the regular sushi! our server was rlly nice and attentive, explaining the lunch special and menu in depth to us. for the lunch special you can take 2 maki and a soup/salad for $21. since its sushi it will take a minute. there weren't many people in today for lunch but i believe it took 20-30 minutes for 4 orders to arrive at our table (2 lunch specials and 2 rolls), so maybe not the best place for a quick work lunch, but definitely stop by for a meal that you'd like to sit & take time to enjoy. it's worth it!

Came here to get sushi, and we didn't leave feeling blue. It has a lot to choose from including tons of rolls for vegans and vegetarians. Blue Sushi is one of the many places to get sushi in Lincoln Park, so it means they have to do something great. Having a big menu of drinks and rolls is one thing they do here. The food also comes out fast for being made fresh, and it tastes like it too. A ton of rolls to choose from. It's usually only a few vegetarian choices at sushi restaurants, but that wasn't the case here. They had a whole vegan menu section. Be sure to get a cocktail. It's $9 at happy hour. They even have the happy hour on Saturdays. I liked the Blue Mule. This is made with house blue sour, Q ginger beer, and Tito's. It had a sourness and sweetness to it. The sushi was the main reason we came though. Has various sizes of rolls, from 5 to 8 pieces. The Veggie Roll was one of the bigger rolls among these. It also was among the cheapest at about $8, while some others were about $11 or $12 or so. This one was all vegan. It had avocado, cucumbers, red peppers, and vegan cream cheese. The roll wasn't that big, but it was for the cheap price. For sure could come here again. It has tons to choose from. That's just talking about the options for vegans and vegetarians.

Blue Sushi is trendy and hip with the lighting and the music, but the sushi itself is twice as expensive as other sushi restaurants in the city. It isn't twice as good, though. But if you are in the area and value convenience over price, Blue will work in a pinch. I recommend the maguro and unagi, and, if you are a true sushi lover, the uni. Love the uni. You can also get Japanese whiskey, neat or in cocktail form. So that is nice.

Service was really good, the Lion king roll was smoky yet fresh, so good! Would totally have again. The ceviche was not as fresh as I hoped, was missing more lime and salt. Needed more flavor.

Was visiting in town for a few days and was already in downtown Naperville. I googled sushi and this was one of the restaurants that popped up. After reading reviews it sounded like a good option. I ended up here around noon on a weekday. I had about a 15 min wait which wasn't so bad. My toddler and I decided to sit outside. It was super cute and perfect weather. For appetizers I got the gyoza and the tataki maki that the waiter recommended! They also did a snow crab roll for my son because that's all that he eats. Overall the food was great, service was great and I'm so glad that I tried this spot

I had a wonderful birthday dinner here. They were so accommodating to a last minute large party reservation after my first plan fell through elsewhere. The food and drinks were amazing and the over all ambiance was awesome. Always so pleased with their creative vegan options.

Fine chain sushi joint. Extra star because they have a huge number of vegetarian options most of which are quite good. Fine service nothing other than efficient. Not quite too loud even when packed. Could be different in different seats.

Talk about super speedy service. I felt like I was in the movie Cars .. KA-CHOW , another dish in front of us. There were multiple servers who seemed to bring the dishes to us right when they were ready to be served. Our main server who took our order was also fantastic and very attentive. The food tasted incredibly fresh. They mentioned they sourced there fish humanely and sustainably? I believe it. The must gets I had were the Salmon Truffle (a little smokey), Yellowtail Serrano (a little spicy), and the South Pacific (probably the best roll I had ... so many combinations of flavors). I was expecting a little more of a mango POP from the crab rangoon, but it was still tasty. The crispy rice cake and the negi yellowtail had great taste and combination of textures. This place would be great if you're looking for a fun night out. They play upbeat music and have a cool, modern interior. There's also a patio if it's a beautiful day outside. Highly Recommend!

Great Sushi spot in Lincoln Park. Wanted sushi and was in the area, looked on Yelp and this spot came up and once I seen they had a Happy Hour I was sold! Street parking can be a pain but luckily was able to get one right across the street, but this was a Wednesday at 3:30pm. It was not crowded at all and was seated immediately. Ordered from the Happy Hour Menu the Shrimp Tempura and Hawaiian roll. Both were made fresh to order and food, especially the Hawaiian roll which comes with chunks of mango inside along with mango sauce. On Happy Hour the Shrimp Tempura roll was $7 and the Hawaiian roll was $11. They also have drinks on the Happy Hour menu and the Blueberry Tini was delish! I believe the drinks are $7 or $8 which is a fantastic special. Service was nice and attentive and the best part is that if you check in on Yelp you get $10 off your bill. So check this place out and check in.

We sat next to the bar which was really fun. Ordered espresso martinis which were really cute. I wish we got some pictures! They were delicious of course! Lettuce wraps to start and we each got 3 rolls. Lots of food! But it was my friends birthday so I couldn't say no! Our waitress was really great and of course the interior design is so cool. I'm sure you've seen others' pictures of the lanterns across the ceiling!

My friend and I put our name down on a Friday night. Told our wait time would be about 45 min. Thankfully, we were alerted via text in only 5-10 min and were seated at the sushi bar. I think we got seated quickly because there was only two of us and didn't have a preference of where our seats were. Our service was great even with the busy restaurant. The San Marcos roll was spicy! I really enjoyed it. The spicy tuna wasn't that great. They do offer to take the cucumbers out on request. Definitely recommend Lion King if you enjoy eel. The fried ice cream is a lot and meant to be shared!

The food here is so good. I highly recommend the happy hour, a great way to try the food and drink some great drinks. The service is exceptional and the vibe was great!

I really really really want to give this place five stars but because of their service I have to give them four. I've been here a few times and always seem to feel "forgotten" by our waiter. It takes way too long to get a drink or food order in and once it's in, the food comes out so quickly and not paced. This is from a few experiences but I keep coming back because the food and the happy hour deal is honestly the best.

Absolutely loved this place. I got seated during the last hour of happy hour and the waitress was super helpful with my choices. The happy hour menu is huge! The miso was great for north side miso and I got a decent sized roll for the price. I dined outside which featured gorgeous weather but inside is gorgeous and breezy if you like a bit of a chilly temperature.

If you're vegan, Blue Sushi has got you covered! They have a large vegan selection that is absolutely incredible. The lettuce wraps and vegan sushi rolls are my go to. They have multiple locations and I've been to both this one and the one in Naperville and they're both delicious.

First time trying Blue Sushi, and it was delicious! We got a bunch of different rolls, but my favorite was Shiitake to Me and their Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts are crispy and have a great flavor. I recommend making a reservation if you're going to a bigger party. Our waiter was friendly and helpful and gave us great recommendations!
