A pre‑theater favorite for sushi and Thai, Blue Taleh has been name‑checked by The Boston Globe in coverage of Lowell’s evolving downtown. Settle in for maki and curries before a show.

We come back !! Love all Sushi & Sashimi 😍

Google
Been here twice now. It can get busy so reservations are recommended. Both times we had fantastic meals. Excellent menu if you're looking for rice, noodles, veggies or something in between they have it. The Pad Prik and Massman Curry were our choices this time. The sushi menu looked extensive and the sushi chef was busy the entire time we were there.

Google
From Sushi to Thai this place nails perfection! Our family shook off a cold day with friendly, attentive service, an excellent selection of drinks and non-alcoholic alternatives, incredible appetizers and entrees which had us in awe! My niece was particularly pleased with her fried ice cream. I will make the trip back to Lowell just for this restaurant! Yes it is that amazing ❤️ Second visit was just as amazing as the first! The Basil fried rice with crispy chicken is absolutely the best I have ever had! Though I live over an hour from Lowell, I envision several additional trips to BlueTaleh!

The best sushi I ever had you all have to try thank you Blue Taleh again for everything tonight.

Google
Very Nice Location, atmosphere is very Cozy, they have nice section with outdoor seating as well. I recommend the "Tango Mango Mojito" In photo & the "Asian 🍐 Martini", out waitress Was Very attentive and Pleasant. We had the Red Dragon Maki Roll(in photo),hot and Sour soup w chicken, crispy pad Thai, and seaweed salad. Everything was Very Good. Incredible Flavors, and layers of different textures. Highly recommend. Stop On In and ENJOY!!😁😁

Google
The food is reallyyyy good. I order Pad Thai with my friend and is was really good. They have a variety of food nd options, and I think the price is good. They also give you free water and they refill if you want.

Google
I had a very disappointing experience at Blue Taleh Saturday night. My Pad Thai came to the table cold. The staff offered to "heat it up or put it in a box"??? They did not offer to re-make the food - which made me feel really awkward and uncomfortable. I don't dislike Blue Taleh's food - but their customer service is really bad. The prices arent cheap either. I would appreciate if management contacted me to resolve this.

Google
This is a great restaurant. The sushi here is great with a lot of different rolls and the specials are always delicious. There are also a lot of other dishes and the Thai curries or fried rice are delicious. There can be limited seating but I have never waited more than 10 minutes for a seat and can always have one of their great cocktails while I waited.

Yelp
fine dumplings, perhaps on the doughy side but whatever, couple bucks ea, yummy and various

Yelp
The food was actually pretty good. The service was abysmal. Also, I ordered a Tito's martini that tasted like water. I told the waitress and she came back 10 minutes later and said the bar was crowded and they could not remake it. Beyond slow. We finally got our food about 5 minutes before the show time across the street.

Yelp
Came on a cold day, if the curry wasn't enough to warm us up the drinks would be! Great service, good food, very happy we came here :)

Yelp
Quaint little restaurant in Lowell! We came in with a group of 10 and they accommodated us immediately. They staff was very attentive. They took our drink orders quickly and thankfully gave us time to look over the many menu options. There are so many amazing plutons in the menu from sushi to Thai food. We thought the food would take a long time to prepare because we had a huge group but we had all our food in less than 20 minutes! The food arrived warm. The portions were huge. I ordered the chicken pad Thai. It was so fresh & full of flavor! I couldn't eat all of it. I ate half & took the rest to go. We'll def go back when In Lowell!!

Yelp
This spot has a blend of different cuisines in one spot. Overall food was tasty! Not too familiar with this cuisine so I can't comment on how traditional this spot is. Spot is great for both small and large groups. They also have a large drink menu so everyone will have something they like. Parking can be difficult since this spot is located right in downtown Lowell.

Yelp
I was disappointed because my friend and I were relegated to a corner 2 seater (small table) because they were going to be busy. Several people came in after us as couples were gladly given a large table. Makes no sense. We got there before the restaurant was filling up.

Yelp
So delicious. The yellow curry was amazing and so flavorful. The mango sticky rice dessert was even better. The food is extremely fresh and the service is friendly. This is on my list of top restaurants in Lowell.

Yelp
Stay away. We had a party of 8 - with a reservation. Got there on time - about 6pm - and they were very overwhelmed. Our poor waitress looked on the verge of tears. We needed to get to a show across the street at 7:30. It took forever just to get water. I ordered just an appetizer, figuring it would be quick but it never came. Neither did my drink. Several others didn't get their full order. I tried to complain to our waitress, but she was very young, VERY overwhelmed, and very under trained. When I tried to find a manager to complain to, the highest I got was the bartender. One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. Stay away from this place, there's much better eateries in Lowell.

Yelp
We had lunch here. They had indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered a couple of Thai dishes and some sushi. Food was good and we will visit again when we're in the area.

Yelp
Food was good, just very understaffed. Waiting to pay takes forever, 20 minutes . I am giving the review as I am waiting. If you don't mind the super slow wait time, then come here.

Jeff S.

Yelp
I typically have decent experience with Blue Taleh. The restaurant is nice inside, clean and friendly. However, lately I'm just getting takeout. The last experience was very, very poor. I ordered online and it took the order and notified me that I would get an email telling me when the food would be ready, so I waited 30 mins. for the email. It never came, so I drove to the restaurant. Once inside, I was met by the hostess who had a puzzled look on her face when she notified me that the online ordering wasn't working and she asked to take my order then. I gave my order and waited at the empty bar. I waited for 40 mins. (the restaurant was half full) and nobody asked me if I wanted anything or even offered a free drink for my troubles. The food came and I left. The ordeal took me 90 minutes. AND, on top of all of that.....while the food tasted good, it put me on the toilet for the next hour. That's a great Thursday night!

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday and unfortunately they were extremely understaffed. Very very long wait to put in orders and for orders to come, by the time the food came it was cold and not very tasty. They also did not get our order correct and staff was not friendly (we assume because of being overwhelmed). Maybe we would have enjoyed in different circumstances but if this place has more than a few parties seated, I'd recommend you find some place else that is adequately staffed.

Yelp
Thai food good. Japanese food, no thanks. This is a thai restaurant run by Thai people and they make good Thai food. The pad Thai was very sweet and very delicious probably one of my top five pad Thai's ever. The crazy noodle was good but the beef was sinewy and grisly. Maybe I'm a little biased cuz I'm from Japan but the nabiyaki udon was nothing like I've ever had before and the soup was too light in my professional opinion. The chirashi was pretty good except for the fish being all frozen and the slices being too big. My sister's biggest complaint was that it was on a plate and not in a bowl as is the tradition of Japan. She also said the rice was meh and i concur with her.

Damien R.

Yelp
Best Sushi I've had in Massachusetts so far. Every sushi restaurant will have similar ingredients, but this place really knew how to prepare the rice, and everything had that crisp and clean taste I look for in sushi. Cocktails weren't stingy and reasonably priced! Chili duck was to die for. They were packed but service was speedy!!! Definitely going to stop back even though it's almost an hour from my house.
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite place to go to get sushi....the crab Rangoon is super yummy as well. I love to come here because there are so many options to choose from on the menu & they always have someone on the piano at night which sounds so lovely!!!!

Yelp
Great food! Chicken Satay was amazing! Our waitress was excellent and nice! Highly recommended!

Yelp
OMG, if I thought the Kiss of Fire was good, then HOLD ON TO YOUR SOCKS FOR THE************ ************VOLCANO ROLL******************************* $15.95 It was absolute perfection. Now mind you, I'm already familiar with volcano rolls and I know they come topped with an ambrosia of Krab, spicy mayo and roe. Its the best part in my opinion. But if you don't like, sayyyy spicy mayo, the def avoid. My boyfriend wouldn't even try a bite, but damn was my tongue singing. The roll is HUGE, like MASSIVE and the topping plentiful. At $15.95 its both the most expensive and the best Volcano roll I've ever had. I will be back. Tried the Crab rangoon, they were just "OK". Stick with the sushi, nom nom nom. My boyfriend ordered the cashew nut chicken extra spicy and they were very accommodating. I can't wait to be back. It's NOT cheap, which is a bummer but you get the quality you pay for.

Yelp
Food was good to very good = all courses. The service was friendly and welcoming but a little sparse. We went for a family celebration so we had a decent party = 8 - no problems accommodating. The ambiance was bright and clean. Parking can be a little bit of a struggle depending on time. Location is really starting to boom.

Yelp
We went here again (it had been a long time) and had a great meal. The sushi was really fresh and well made. Picked ginger was not old, fresh wasabi and not overly salty soy sauce. I think the quality of the food was better than the last time we last visited. It is good to see the restaurant is improving their food quality. They just need to better train their servers. Ours forgot parts of our order. All in all a good experience and we will definitely go back.
google avatar

Cindy D.

Yelp
All I have to say is I've had had sushi here a few times now and it is incredible. I dined in person one time and the other times were delivery. The service is always fast. Their sushi is probably some of the best sushi I've ever had, and I've had a lot of sushi. Their maki rolls are creative, fresh and delicious. I never want to order sushi from other places anymore because theirs is easily the best in the area. My husband also loves the curry dishes. Love Blue Taleh!

Yelp
We decided to eat here because we were going to a show that was local. Hadn't been here before but the previous yelp review sounded promising. We got to sit outside by the canal, and it was very enjoyable and inviting. Our waiter was absolutely adorable and extremely helpful. Loved your wild boar bracelet. We got some sushi for appetizer and then got choo Chee tofu and some rice. Everything was really good, and very surprisingly not too hot. Just right. Wish we had a chance to sample drinks, but we didn't this time. We will definitely be back to try some more

Charlotte C.

Yelp
Had a really negative experience here once and didn't write a review because it's typically great food. However a group and I returned and had a worse experience. We were the only table in the restaurant besides a table of two. The waitress only came by once to get our drinks and get our appetizer. We had to wave down or request service for further food or drink refills (we were not in a rush either which made the wait more frustrating). The food was okay but the wait and lack of service made it an awful night out especially since the restaurant is not cheap. To boot our waitress came over and asked why we only tipped 12% which was insulting since we were meant to feel like the bad guys despite her not being attentive. I can appreciate restaurants being short staffed but we were one of two tables with what appeared to be 4+ front of house staff.
google avatar

Bill W.

Yelp
We set our reservation for 90 minutes before a show one block away. We got drinks after 45 minutes which was 30 minutes after the order was taken. By 75 minutes out food was still not brought out. My wife headed to the show as I tried to get our server. They charged me for everything and I did not have the time to argue the bill. They gave me a $25 gift card which is really bupkiss because that is about a possible future and this evening. Don't plan to be back any time soon. Sad. It looks like it might be good food but poorly managed. Poor customer service.

Yelp
Great sushi and the best pad Thai ever! Never a huge fan of the service but the food makes up for it. Plus great prices as well! Steve the owner is awesome.

Susan H.

Yelp
I have been a fan for years. Today we had the best food and kindest service. Madeline was so very kind and attentive. The food was stellar as always and you cannot ask for better cocktails. Thank you so much to the staff at BT.
google avatar

Joseph C.

Yelp
Ate here for the first time with my wife. She had the Sweet Basil Stir Fry, I the Noodle Pad Thai with Scallops. The food was good, fresh, and affordable. Also, the restaurant itself is nice inside. The reason it didn't get 4 starts was because we had to keep asking for things as the staff kept forgetting.
google avatar

Lydia M.

Yelp
Really good food! The service was great. I went for lunch without a reservation and they were able to seat a party of 6 right away. It wasn't very busy. I ordered the chicken udon and it was very good! It was large so I was able to save it for a second meal as well!
google avatar

Yelp
Blue Taleh is a solid four-star place. We have been both dining in and getting takeout for a number of years now. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. The drinks are decent, too, when dining in. We find their pad Thai particularly delicious. There is something about the sauce--just great, with a little hint of Thai seasoning. It's really a nice combo that's definitely steps above your standard Thai takeout. I've gotten the coconut chicken soup some of the times we've ordered takeout. Sometimes it's out of this world. Sometimes the chicken is so-so, but the broth is always good. They have gluten free menu options! Yeah, it's probably a little on the pricier for Lowell, but I think their quality of food merits the cost. If you want to dine in, sometimes you can grab a table without a reservation, but parking in the area really sucks. We love Blue Taleh!
google avatar

Big M.

Yelp
We have been dinning at Blue Taleh for a few years now. Tonight we stopped in for dinner before a Play. My wife got the shrimp pad Thai. The dish was tasty, but the shrimp were over cooked to the point where they were tuff to chew. We informed the waitress and she took them back, but returned the same ones, with no apology, stating that that's how we cook them. No alternatives were offered. We asked to see the manager and were told that she was too busy. I then got up and went back to the manager, Po. After having me wait a few minutes she stated the same: "that's how we cook them". No concern that we were displeased, no apology, just blatant indifference. I told her we had been coming here for some time, but would not be back. She could have cared Less...

Daniel J.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in for a drink after dinner because this place used to mix a reliably good drink. Sadly, our $15 Chambord Margarita was light on Chambord and heavy on sour mix. I'd chalk it up to an inexperienced bartender but it was mixed by the owner so, probably not that. I guess shrinkflation is everywhere.
google avatar

Dara L.

Yelp
Overly sweet crispy pad Thai(highly don't recommend) , iced coffee, and Thai iced tea. Something so simple became unpalatable. Yellow curry and sushi was 'decent' enough. Save your money and go somewhere else. Shout-out to my doordash driver for being on time though.
google avatar

Toby K.

Yelp
This is such a great restaurant! We have been coming here for years and the food is always delicious! The sushi is amazing and so are all the other options like Pad Thai. The drinks are also great. It also has a nice atmosphere and there is an option for outdoor seating. You won't be disappointed!

Nathan G.

Yelp
Every dishes here is remarkable. Can't wait to come back here again. Food really delicious and very nice presentation also sushi and sashimi is very fresh

K S.

Yelp
Sat for 2 hours with hardly any service, never got full food or drink order, ignored by staff, couldn't get check, and owners are indignant and deaf to customers. Have heard terrible things about them- should have listened.
google avatar

Chris N.

Yelp
Been here at least 10 times in the last year. Have come with friends, family, even for business meetings. Tonight your manager on duty refused to remove an appetizer that never came and two drinks that were all syrup. The service was "cute" but we quickly realized that service was going to be the poorest ever. Never had an issue with food or service in the past. To Igor the food was great but the service left too much to be desired. If the manager had come over and addressed our issues it would have been a bit more palatable. To future patrons, I hope your experiences are as positive as mine have been in the past. Happy New Year.

Yelp
My family and I were craving a good Japanese cuisine so we decided to venture to Lowell, MA and stumbled upon Blue Taleh, which serves both Japanese and Thai cuisine. The restaurant didn't have it's own lot. However, street parking is free after 6pm. The restaurant has a small dining room, decorated with metal sculptures on its green or red colored walls. There are tables that seat parties of 2, 4, and 6. For drinks, we shared a large hot sake among 4 people. In addition to the hot sake, I ordered a Thai Iced Tea, which consisted of red tea, half and half, and ice. We shared the following: (1) Sashimi Combo, which consisted a Chef's selection of 15 pieces of high quality raw fish including (but not limited to) white tuna, tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. It was served surrounding a bed of shredded radish and leaves and with wasabi and pickled white ginger. It came with miso soup and white rice. The miso soup was tasty. It was made of soybean paste and water with diced tofu, seaweed, and garnished with green scallion. (2) Yellowtail and Scallion Roll, which consisted of six yellowtail and green scallion wrapped in seaweed and rice and rolled in sesame seeds. (3) Black Dragon Maki, which consisted of shrimp tempura and cucumber wrapped in seaweed and rice, topped with eel, black tobiko, and drizzled with eel sauce. They created a dragon head with wasabi, radish, and carrots and legs with eel sauce. It was my favorite roll tonight! (4) Sweet Potato Tempura Maki, which consisted of sweet potato tempura wrapped in seaweed and rice and drizzled with eel sauce. It was sweet and savory. (5) Lowell Maki, which consisted of six rolls with yellowtail, crabstick, avocado, scallion, and tobiko wrapped in seaweed, tempura batter, and rice, and drizzled with eel sauce. It was served hot, which made things interesting. (6) Stir Fried Udon Noodle with Shrimp, which consisted of stir fried udon noodles with shrimp and broccoli in homemade brown sauce, topped with tempura flake. It was a small portion. There was more shrimp and broccoli than noodles. It wasn't worth the price! The server didn't ask if we wanted dessert but gave us the check.

Yelp
While there are less expensive places to enjoy sushi, Thai, or cocktails in Lowell, none offer all three along with the modern atmosphere, excellent service, attention to detail, and fresh ingredients of Blue Taleh. As an added bonus, it's also one of the only restaurants where you can enjoy a view of the canal indoors or out, day or night (weather dependent of course), creating a truly unique atmosphere in the downtown area. A perfect first meal at Blue Taleh would easily be a Bento Box lunch which allows you to sample several familiar Thai and Japanese favorites while leaving you quite full for a very reasonable price. And if the little paper rose on the top of your straw doesn't give you at least a small sense of delight, than you really need to spend more time with your inner child.

Yelp
Have been a few times now. Waitresse friendly. Avocado salad is awesome. Great iced coffee and sushi. When the weather allows, sitting outside is nice. Have been back many time.
google avatar

Lin M.

Yelp
We went to this restaurant for the first time in March for a family birthday. Our party's ages ranged from 100 yrs old to 3 yrs old (I kid you not) Everyone had a good time. Everyone was able to find something to eat that they enjoyed. And everyone loved it. I have been back since for a quieter meal and to enjoy the cocktails. The food is very fresh and flavorful. The drinks are good and the service is great. Will be enjoying this place many times.
google avatar

Tammy C.

Yelp
Atmosphere: very nice, clean, modern and well kept. Service: not the best, it was okay.... she seemed not happy to be working. Food: food was OK. I mean, there's a large menu but it was kinda bland for my taste. not what i expected at all. I had the tempura bento box. Not much else to say...
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised at the quality. Nice location for Lowell (in the more gentrified downtown area) and there is street parking and a garage in walking distance. Inside the decor is pleasant, though the open kitchen detracts from it. The live piano music is enjoyable if just a bit loud. Would recommend the Romance Sake, its unfiltered and has a richer taste and texture. Also got a good Thai Iced Tea, a bit short but tasty. Both the kitchen and sushi bar options are great. The appetizer sampler is enough for 2 to share and is great. For sushi options I'd recommend the volcano maki. Haven't had a chance to try out the more traditional sushi as I wanted to feel out quality on cooked items. Service has varied but is generally good. In all likelihood my most recent visit we had a new server still learning the ropes.
google avatar

Jay B.

Yelp
My wife and I were out for the evening. First a stop at Lowell Memorial for a Tony Bennett concert. Then we stopped in for a bit to eat. Never been here before. But the food was different and great! Service was good. We will visit again.
google avatar

Robin T.

Yelp
Had lunch here before seeing the Boston pops. Started with martini's. Vodka and a watermelon. Both were ice cold large and yummy. Apps were steamed pork dumplings and soft shell crab. Both were very good. The crab came with tempura veggies like brocoli, sweet potato, green beans. My husband thought the crab was a little over cooked. Then we had sushi which came nice and chilled and beautiful to look at. Service was great. Definitely going back!
google avatar

Bryan S.

Yelp
I went there for lunch when working in Lowell, and this place was highly recommended by the staff. When I went there, it was empty, so I jumped on the bar, ordered a dragon roll ( check the picture I uploaded) and the spicy tuna. It arrived relatively fast, and the Sushi chef created his masterpiece right in front of me. The Miso soup came first, light and flavorful. Then the sushi, the sushi was fresh undoubtedly, and I gave this place one whole star for presentation. The place was has a cosy yet modern feel to it and I can see myself coming back for dinner or a night out. I heard they are well know for their martini's and they have a special every so often. All top shelf alcohol, ready for the perfect martini....Happy hour will be my next stop
google avatar

Mr Kitty K.

Yelp
We spent a night in Lowell, we were looking for dinner. To be honest not much going on in Lowell but a local recommended Blue Taleh. We sat at the bar. Carlos made excellent cocktails. Food was very good. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
I was so excited when I looked at the menu and saw that they served Chicken Coconut soup- one of my favorites! It was so good and just the right amount of spicyness. I got that with two maki rolls. The place is a little small. I got there a little early for dinner and it was filling up quickly. I'd suggest getting there early or calling ahead if you want to avoid a wait (there isn't much space inside to wait for a table either). The service was pretty slow. I had my soup before I even got my drink (and I had been waiting a while for my soup). Once I finished my meal, they took my empty plate away quickly, but I had to wait a good 15 minutes before they even brought my check.
google avatar

Trevor F.

Yelp
Very good sushi. Very high quality and wonderful presentation. Other food is great too and nice selection of beverages. Nice calm atmosphere with outdoor seating and has music artists once and a while come in.
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
The restaurant itself is really nice and clean! Came here the other day with my friend for sushi and it was pretty pricey, but I understand why. The shrimp pad Thai is always so delicious! A little bit pricier than usual, but once you have their pad thai you don't want any other pad thai ever again.
google avatar

Molyda C.

Yelp
I wanted to try new food so I came here and the noodles I ordered tasted just like Lo Mein. I was disappointed, because I thought it would have a unique taste since it was a Japanese dish I never had before. It's pretty pricey here as well, but other than that I did enjoy my hot Thai tea.
