The Best Restaurants On Long Beach Island - Jersey Shore - The Infatuation

"Blue Water Cafe is from the same people as Stefano’s, and is like the hypothetical love child of that white-tablecloth seafood restaurant and a casual diner. This BYOB American spot on Long Beach Boulevard in Beach Haven serves things like yellowfin tuna and lobster-whipped potatoes at dinner, but it also has a massive breakfast menu with plates of huevos rancheros and Nutella french toast. We like it best for brunch, especially if you sit on the covered patio outside and order their phenomenal burger topped with a huge portion of blue crab dip." - alison kessler, regan stephens, matt tervooren, tonya russell

This is my favorite restaurant in LBI. The white wine steamed mussels and steamed clams are bomb! The sauce is so good with breads. We also love the fried oysters, fried calamari and chowder. Portion is generous compared with the other ones nearby. Really friendly service. No beers though. BYOB! Walks in only.

Had an absolutely incredible dining experience tonight. Our waiter, Luke, was fantastic- answered every single menu question we had (which was a lot for our first visit) and made great menu recommendations. I got the ultimate seafood dish and loved it. The best meal I’ve had in LBI! Thank you so much Luke for a great meal we’re sure to come back to see you.

Google
Everything we had was really good. We shared a wedge salad which was plentiful, light, crunchy and refreshing. The blue cheese dressing was the perfect amount and the bacon was cooked perfectly. Then we got the crab dip which was really good. The special of the night was a zucchini boat stuffed with crab, scallop, and shrimp served over mashed potatoes- Chefs Kiss it was delicious. Another delicious dish we got was the penne with shrimp, scallops, and crab in a vodka sauce. To finish off the night we ordered Gelato which was really good. The service was great especially our waitress and even the manager stopped by to speak with us. I highly recommend.

Google
I really enjoyed lunch the day we stopped here. Everything was delicious and my plate looked like a work of art. Server was so sweet and attentive. Will definitely be going back.

Google
Casual BYOB grill on the island with good seafood, relaxed vibes, and an extensive sandwich menu. Pros: Food is very tasty (e.g., burrata appetizer, mango shrimp salad), servers are friendly, prices are reasonable for LBI, and portions are comparatively big (e.g., my piece of snapper was at least 12 oz maybe more) Cons: Depending on where you sit you’re kind of close to the blvd, my wife thought her oysters could have been shucked more cleanly

Google
This place has the perfect atmosphere and decor for the NJ summer down the shore! If temperature permits, grab a seat in the covered outdoor dining area among the tastefully landscaped planter boxes, in order to get the full effect. The menu is eclectic enough for any taste. My brunch selection was a Greek omelet, which was perfect! Even the crispy, deep-fried potatoes were a treat. The short stack of pancakes was too much to finish. The cakes were fluffy but a little dense in the middle. Bottom line- Blue Water Cafe is definitely worth a try on LBI!

Google
Great food and great service. Have eaten here several times and it never disappoints.

Google
Lobster bisque was soooo good the chowder was really good but we personally prefer other. Can't go wrong with the steamed clams and the picnic platter was refreshing. I got the crabs cakes and subbed in garlic mashed over lobster mashed. All very foot lots of meat. My boyfriend got the cowboy steak special. He enjoyed it as well. The staff is very friendly and works their butts off. The atmosphere is very laid back and clean. We went on a beautiful sunset evening. Wed go back and recommend for sure. The owner definitely cares about his business.

Yelp
The food and service is outstanding! Abby, our server, was extremely helpful in answering all our questions, even though we have been to the Bluewater Café many times. Millionaires meatloaf and seafood risotto were the two entrées we ordered. They were made and cooked to perfection. My compliments to the chef, who I am told, has been there for years. So tasty and sizable enough to have some leftover for later. Tiramisu is a new dessert added to their offering, and it may have been the best that I've ever had! I love a restaurant that offers cappuccino, but most times it turns out to be disappointing. Not so in this case. Abby assured me she has makes the best cappuccino, and it lived up to my expectation. Kudos to Abby! I live on the island year round and had a guest this week so we went to the Engleside Inn, Howard's restaurant, and now the Bluewater Café, which, by far, hands-down is the absolute best and a must go to!

Yelp
Amazing service, our waitress Abby was awesome and very accommodating. Appetizers were delicious! Nice patio seating as well. Had a great time and would definitely recommend visiting!! I will mention it is BYOB so be wary of that before heading there:)

Gerald K.

Yelp
Been going here for years. Service is always excellent and food is on point. Never had a bad meal. Lobster roll is top notch! Would recommend for brunch or dinner.

Garrett G.

Yelp
Bacon in my Cobb salad was hard/old tasting. Coconut shrimp coating was somewhat hard/plasticy. The rest was ok. Service very friendly.

Yelp
On Mother's Day we celebrated with our annual brunch at @bluewatercafelbi . This restaurant always serves the freshest and most delicious brunch. This year was even better because all 3 of my kids were home to celebrate with me. We ordered: - pork roll, egg, cheese on bagel platter -eggs blue water: eggs Benedict -crab Benedict -cafe combination: eggs, bacon, ham, pork roll, home fries - side of pancakes I have to say they serve the crispiest home fries around. Our server was so friendly and really attentive. We sat outside in a covered and heated area which was perfect. I can't wait to go back now they they're opened for the season.

Kerry J.

Yelp
Loved my meal - manhattan clam chowder was perfect and the lobster Cobb salad was fresh and delicious. I can't give 5 stars because husbands pasta was soupy. Easy on the sauce! Also loved our waitress - she was A+

Yelp
A rainy Saturday night with a struggle to find a place to eat in beach haven. A 90 minute wait down the street so we moved along and thought we'd see how long the wait was here, an hour wait. Saw folks doing byob while they waited. We went to check out other places then bought a bottle of wine and headed back. Luckily table was ready in 30 minutes and we were seated promptly. Service was good. Food was pretty good albeit high prices for a short season area. A nice touch would face been bread for the table but they don't offer that. Chowder was pretty good. Lobster Cobb was also good. Pasta seafood dish nice but bland and didn't fill one up.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Nice location, great food and service. Clam chowder and fish tacos were delicious. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Monday, my last day in LBI. It was a hot day but we sat outside anyway. Anthony was our waiter. I got the fish taco special and my cousin got the avocado club which she has had before. Her sandwich tasted like summer! It was cold and refreshing and light. I loved my fish tacos! They were exactly what I was craving. They came out with the old bay french fries and I had to change that but they corrected the order quickly. The fries were really good- crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Ketchup already on the table. Good solid place.

Yelp
Blue Water cafe a hidden gem in the heart of Lbi where seafood taste like seafood and everything else is a second priority. Had many seafood dishes here all were good but I am not here to review everything. This lobster roll the had prepared me.. very delicious. Roll to lobster ratio was above average. However they do only make lobster roll salads. Usually I say if it's green keep it clean but that is not the case when I comes to lobster rolls. I enjoyed it, did taste better when I took another one home and heated it up and threw some butter on that thang. All and all the dish received a 7.8 on the lobster roll scale pretty good and definitely think you should try this place out. Sincerely, thelobsterrollking

Yelp
As always, a perfect crab cake item. We've been visiting Blue Water Cafe every time we vacation on LBI. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I've tried many other crab cakes on the island over the years, and they have the BEST in my opinion. Never a shell, true lump crab meat with very little breading or filler. Love it!

Susan M.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Service was excellent (thank you Abbey)! Ambiance was lovely! See you next season!
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
One of my favorite breakfasts spots! We usually come here on our first morning while we wait to check in. They are BYOB which is a plus. One of the best spots to get home fries and a good iced latte. Aside from breakfast they also serve lunch and dinner. Their clam chowder and lobster roll are very good. This restaurant also has a really great outside dining set up. You definitely should visit on your next LBI trip.
google avatar

Yelp
Shared a crab cake and lobster roll with my daughter. Delicious! Loaded with seafood and not fillers. Outside seating is relaxing with pretty flowers.
google avatar

Steve G.

Yelp
Great food, we had the crab meat nachos and lobster rolls - wow! Both were excellent! The service was spot on and we couldn't have been more impressed given we're from Florida and thought our seafood was pretty good. Someone needs to tell my why people co E to Florida from here?
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
No bar, no booze High prices, Bland food So, Blue Water Cafe, What is the point? Just another, LBI clip joint
google avatar

Grace H.

Yelp
High quality seafood cooked perfectly. Fine dining and on the pricier side. Small restaurant with large outdoor seating but the outdoor seating is noisey since it is near main road. Fast service!
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
We went for breakfast and sat outside. The service is great and the food is good. We got the eggs and then also the avocado toast. Their patio is nice and it's well priced. A good option for breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped in for an August midweek lunch and had a wonderful time. Our server, Karli had just started her first day and was a joy to work with. Her suggestions were spot on and she was perfectly accommodating to our two hour stay. I had the Lobster roll and my wife tried the Cheesesteak. Both lived up to expectations. We sat outside. While we were concerned regarding the traffic noise, it was not a factor, the plants absorbed most of the sounds. Keep in mind that the place is BYOB, though they do offer a local wine.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
I had the eggs Benedict the were very good. I had coffee (very good) and large Orange Juuice). (Average and NOT fresh squeezed. Price $30.00 + 6.00 tip $36.00 so pretty expensive but it's 4th of July Weekend llat the Jersey Shore

Yelp
We ordered takeout from here and we all enjoyed our food. There is a cute outdoor seating area with a beachy vibe. Even the indoor seating has a casual beach vibe. My family wanted lobster rolls and we spent an hour looking for a place that made it the way they like. Our favorite place closed down. The other places I called make lobster rolls with fillers or with a lobster salad type of roll. Luckily, we found Blue Water Cafe, who makes it with a salad type of roll but was able to omit everything for us except the lobster, butter and bun. It looked really good, with large chunks of lobster. My family really enjoyed it. The rolls also came with really good French fries too according to one of my kids. I ordered the lobster Cobb salad which came with lettuce, avocado, bacon, tomatoes, egg and lobster in a mayo dressing. it had a good amount of large lobster chunks and was a salad I really enjoyed.
google avatar

Yelp
Worth the wait (40 mins on a Sat night). We ordered crab nachos, dockside seafood platter, the jumbo shrimp stuffed with crab cake special, and key lime pie. Waitstaff was very attentive and the food was really good! I would go here again for sure. Price is similar to other restaurants on lbi.

Yelp
Best New England clam chowder I've ever eaten. Always buy a quart to take home before exiting the island!

Jamie C.

Yelp
Fantastic experience ! Food, service STELLAR! Went twice while on vacation in Beach Haven!

Yelp
Well it's been years since we've been to the Blue Water Cafe and I'm still as impressed as I was the first time we were here. The place is still BYOB (we forgot and had to run out to grab some wine) which always helps keep the costs down. Since I needed to know of the chowder was still as good three of us ordered a cup and my son got a wedge salad. The wedge was fine...honestly it's hard to mess up a wedge salad, but I have to say the tomatoes were awesome. The chowder was, again, life altering. I've eaten a lot of chowder in my days and this place still tops the list. For our entrees my daughter got the penne with scallops and shrimp which she loved. My son got the salmon with a side of garlic mashed potatoes...he also loved it (though the potatoes needed a touch of salt). Wifey got the crab cakes over lobster mashed potatoes-when it arrived she said she was going to save one for lunch the next day...HAHAHA, nope, she hammered them. I got one of the specials which was a shrimp and crab risotto with fresh tomatoes and spinach...I practically licked the bowl. If you're down here in LBI and want a great seafood dinner you won't be disappointed coming to Blue Water Cafe.

Yelp
We were down for the week and ate there 4 times. I recommend the lobster Cobb salad and also the lobster bisque. Anything on the menu is delicious. I especially enjoyed our server the one day we had lunch. I highly recommend

Mike L.

Yelp
Over the last 2-3 years I've had a handful+ of great meals here. Good seafood food for reasonable price. Last night we had our first bad meal. Steamed clams and mussels had a soupy/thick/slimy broth. $20 each would be fine if the broth was tasty. Not good at all when compared to elsewhere in Beach Haven. Shrimp penne pasta sat in a bowl of liquid water/wine sauce with no taste. The shrimp was fine but pasta was mediocre for $35. Worst of all was the $50 filet and lobster. The filet was chewy, and had probably been frozen for too long. Tasted bland. One of the worst filets I've had eating out. Needs to be much better. I like the environment, good for sunset, but the food was disappointing this time to say the least. I won't be back this summer.
google avatar

Deirdre C.

Yelp
I was at the shore for the day and my boyfriend recommended this restaurant for lunch as I'm not familiar with the area. It's a nice place. I wasn't sure if we were dressed appropriately having just come off the beach (bathing suits, coverups and flip flops). The hostess told me we were fine as is and sat us. Service was great and the food was really good! We split crab nachos and a crab dip.
google avatar

Erika T.

Yelp
Loved the menu and large portions! Food was delicious. Waitress was excellent - she recited the many specials without looking at notes, I was very impressed! I've been skipping this place because they don't take reservations but we showed up at slightly after 7 and was seated immediately (party of 2). I will not be skipping anymore!
google avatar

Yelp
Our FAVORITE restaurant on the island by far. Have been coming here for years and frequent this establishment over the summer. Brandon is their best server, ask for him! BYOB with a nice patio to wait on for a table to free up. Seating outdoors is great with nice lighting. We have never had an issue with any of the food and everything comes out delicious with large portions. A MUST STOP on the island! Absolut Seafood Pasta is my favorite.

Angela F.

Yelp
This is our meeting place upon starting our annual vacation in LBI & has been for many years! Staff is always accommodating, especially for our large crowd. The food, always delicious! Why change something when it's right! I highly recommend this place & believe me, if I need to complain about something, I most definitely will! No complaints here! Enjoy!

rachel o.

Yelp
I'm an old soul and a sucker for meatloaf.. their millionaire meatloaf was amazing! Get the lobster mashed potatoes
google avatar

Barbara M.

Yelp
Food delicious! Help staff very nice. We came early with a cranky baby who finally fell asleep and they could not have been more helpful!

Lisa M.

Yelp
Outdoor dining! The best Lobster roll! Nice waitstaff! Must come for dinner when you're here in LBI!
google avatar

Bret K.

Yelp
I give Blue Water a 4 star rating and my ability to order a cohesive meal 2 stars. Absolutely delicious calamari. Lightly breaded and the dipping sauce was really tasty. I followed that up with a fried oyster poboy which is redundant after ordering said appetizer. Oh well.. my wife's grilled chicken panini was stellar. Serious portion and so fresh !!! For lunch the meal was over priced but it's LBI.... It is what it is. Great customer service here !!

J G.

Yelp
Food was fantastic and our server Alex was great. The lobster rolls and crab cakes were delish. Will be back!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Overrated. Lobster roll was good but the ahi tuna salad was extremely disappointing. The mango salsa and avocado it was supposed to come with was minuscule and nonexistent. Therefore you were left with plain lettuce and plain dry tuna. Not anxious to return
google avatar

Susie W.

Yelp
Had an early dinner at blue water cafe last night where they were able to immediately sit my table of 10 with no reservation. They had outdoor seating only and we were dressed relatively casual, which was no problem. Service was great, our server Aurora was friendly and attentive. It was BYOB, there was a delicious specials menu, and the food was very standard and fresh. Our entire table enjoyed our meals and we would recommend this casual spot to anyone looking for an easy dinner spot. Some table favorites (unfortunately devoured before we could snag a pic) were the lobster ravioli and coconut shrimp specials and the Bouillabaisse.

George S.

Yelp
Food is consistently fresh and cooked to order. Crab cake sandwich is mostly lump. The oyster po boy is very taste and the sauce makes the sandwich. Their breakfast is very good as well! Ordered the Absolute pasta, yellow fin tuna, and halibut. All were outstanding: nice portions, tasty, and fresh. The mussels appetizer was huge and tasty. The crab dip was very good with home made chips for dipping. The gelato and peanut butter pie was excellent. Finally, the waitress service was exceptional. I had the eggs Benedict, the Hollandaise sauce was watery and the poached eggs were overdone. My wife had the Garden State omelet. It was delicious and the home fries were very good. The service was very good.
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
I was shocked when I saw how little reviews Blue Water Cafe had! First, it's important to know they don't take reservations. They do have a nice seating area with space to chill your wine - oh yeah it's BYOB too! They have kombucha on tap - usually Synergy Trilogy flavor. We started with a wedge salad and crab nachos - loads of crab on these! For meals, I got the shrimp and scallop risotto - this was filling and had tons of seafood! Very flavorful. My mom got the sesame tuna, her only complaint was there was no sauce or flavor with it. My father got the filet mignon, which he cleaned his plate! All in all, we will definitely be back. Tip: come early if you don't want to
google avatar

Billy B.

Yelp
At our recent visit we were sad to discover that the crab nachos are off the menu, replaced with the less interesting blackened shrimp nachos. We skipped that. I did try their seafood risotto and have to say it was very good. The rice was properly done and the ingredients were plentiful and delicious. Pricey like all things on LBI, but at least it was money well spent. But please ... bring back the crab nachos. They were a reason to go to BWC.
google avatar

Lynn M.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance sitting outside. Server was very pleasant. Food was abundant and good. For alcohol they only had wine. Enjoyed it!

Alma B.

Yelp
Surprised to see the rating not north of 4. The three of us came around 6 on Labor Day weekend Saturday and were seated right away and were even able to switch seats out of the sun. I had the lobster salad, husband had the mahi mahi and daughter the special lobster ravioli. All was delicious and served after our calamari appetizer. Liked the BYOB aspect. Friendly staff. When we left there Lots of people waiting enjoying wine and cocktails on the outdoor spot designed for diners waiting for a table. Nice LBI vibe.
google avatar

Cathy S.

Yelp
Delish and generous portions nice atmosphere with courteous wait staff we have been coming for years and are always pleased.
google avatar

E.P. S.

Yelp
When we go to LBI, this is the only place we go to for dinner because it never disappoints. Last night we had the blue claw crab dip for an appetizer and for dinner, I had the summer lobster Cobb salad and my wife had the Cuban shrimp salad. It was like our mouths went on vacation. What is important here is that Blue Water is consistently excellent. They always exceed our expectations. Service is equally excellent.
google avatar

Yelp
COVID19 review alert.......absolutely no social distancing whatsoever. The picture speaks volumes, very scary and disappointing. Food is always just marginal here but the setting is nice, until this evening. Shocking that management allowed people to be all over each other. #bluewatercafe #lbifoodies #boomerbitchreviews

Yelp
New to LBI. Stopped in for lunch our first week here and had a very nice lunch. Had lobster roll sandwich which must've had one whole lobster of meat on it. It was amazing! Also had a crabcake sandwich which looked really good. Had a bowl of clam chowder, it was the best clam chowder that I have ever had! Also took home two bowls of soup. It was so good. Will definitely be going back there. Everybody was nice good service. It was a cozy atmosphere like everybody was one big family. People are all talking together and nice to one another.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I picked up food from here earlier this month and let me tell you, we L O V E D what we got! ORDERING AND PICKING UP: Although there was plenty of tables outside, we decided to order pickup since I'm personally not comfortable with outdoor dining yet. The process of ordering the food from their website was simple, easy, and flawless! Also, our food was ready even before the suggested pickup time! When you arrive to the restaurant, you follow the signs for online pickup and get your food from the cash register area. Note: All utensils are not wrapped in individual plastic, but wrapped inside of a napkin. FOOD: We got the Fried Calamari and Absolut Seafood! Fried Calamari - They were SOOOOO INCREDIBLY fresh! I haven't had such fresh calamari in forever! The breading was perfectly crunchy, no soggy. Also it came with this delicious red pepper aioli instead of your traditional marinara sauce (which I really really appreciated.) Absolut Seafood- This dish is a SHOWSTOPPER. It is massive. My boyfriend and I shared this dish and we still weren't able to completely finish it. The vodka sauce is delightful and pairs along with the penne and seafood perfectly. It came with a huge ammount of shrimp, crab meat, and scallops. We literally can't stop talking about this dish lol Overall, if you're in LBI or generally in the area, I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Having a fantastic meal!!! Service is fantastic, our waitress couldn't be nicer or more helpful. I had the most wonderful crab cakes and my spouse had the lobster roll both terrific! For dessert we had pistachio gelato also delicious. Great meal. Needs a liquor license.
