The 28 Best London Coffee Shops With Wifi For Getting Work Done

"It’s hard to get work done in Notting Hill when you’re fighting for precious cafe real estate with locals on their fourth glass of wine. Although most cafes along Portobello Road aren’t ideal for productivity, Bluebelles is an exception. It’s always easy to find somewhere to work and staff are super accommodating to freelancers. As well as nice coffee, the cakes are especially good." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, sinead cranna

Pros: The food was good, and the place felt cozy and welcoming. Cons: Service was slow. We waited a long time for our food, and even after it arrived, our drinks never came. We ended up finishing our meal without them, and a few of the items we received were incorrect. The waiter did try to make up for the long wait by offering a few drinks for free, which we appreciated, but it didn’t fully make up for the issues. Additionally, the hot chocolate was quite expensive.

The most delicious egg puff hash I have ever had (never had one before but it sounded funny so I ordered it!) When my friend and I visited the electricity had died, so we couldn't have a coffee, but no matter! Lovely staff and quiet atmosphere.

💯Love the cafe atmosphere & services by the staff. Not a lot of tourist in the noon, totally chill place to grab cappuccino & sweet treats🥰Tried their banana cake & chocolate brownie.

DO NOT GO to this café. I ordered 2 hot chocolates with oat milk to takeaway, which cost £12.60 (!) We found out after ordering that the powder has dairy in it, and my partner is allergic to dairy so we couldn’t have the drinks anymore (we weren’t asked about allergies when ordering). I was told I could not receive a refund. I pushed back, then was told I could receive a refund but within 5 working days; I was asked to leave my contact information. The customer service was terrible. It has been 2 weeks and I have received NO refund. Bluebelles’ phone number and email on their website doesn’t even work, so I can’t get in contact (and they haven’t contacted me). I don’t live nearby so I can’t just easily go back and ask for this refund. I am beyond disappointed. To make it even worse, my partner is literally called Bluebell and we used to love this café; she was even invited to the relaunch of this site a couple years ago. £12.60 is a lot for two takeaway drinks, and we didn’t even get them! Just don’t go to this café. I still haven’t got my money back and I’m so frustrated. (Pictured is Bluebell back in 2023 when Bluebelles gave us a free tote bag because of her name. As I said - we used to love this place… but we will never go again.)

Google
The scrambled eggs on toast were so good?! Creamy buttery - just the way I like it done. Added on mushroom

Google
Ordered egg hollandaise, french toast with espresso cream, cheesy hash-brown, and black latte. They’re all delicious, but my favorites were the french toast and the black latte. I ordered my second cup of black latte after i finished the first one (real quick). The server, Michelle, was very friendly and gave us lot of recommendations. The place is cozy.

Google
I found this restaurant on a busy Saturday while being in Portobello Road and it was the perfect place to get a breather. I ordered some chips which were delicious and all staffs were both kind and patient. Would love to come back next time I’m in the city!

Google
The food was incredible, delicious and big portions. The service was even better. Even though the place was full, we managed to grab a table shortly. We were waiting for more people who ended up taking much longer than expected, despite this, all the staff were incredibly nice and understanding about it, something we really appreciated. We will definitely go back.

Yelp
Amazing and friendly service and ambiance. Pastries and espresso great. General manager nicest guy adds to ambiance

Iris A.

Yelp
Manager is extremely rude and should be fired. I went here all the time before meeting him and I won't be coming back which sucks because the other employees are so nice.

Yelp
Service was so bad we had to go to the window and pick up our own food. Order was wrong. Waiter appeared very nervous and maybe just not a good fit. Place was also unclean. The utensil caddy was absolutely disgusting and had the part you eat off of right in it. They didn't seem too concerned. Food was just okay. Very average or below. And cold because it sat. Shame. The place is really cute. But no way would I recommend it.

Yelp
Stopped here for brunch. Recommend highly. We had 4 different plates and all were great. Solid cappuccino as well.

Yelp
We had a delicious and healthy breakfast at Bluebelles of Portobello! It's sometimes hard to come by a healthy breakfast (something other than carbs) while traveling abroad, but Bluebelles had just what we were craving. They had unique dishes with unexpected ingredients, and out-of-this-world coffee concoctions! Enjoy a quaint breakfast and then meander through the street market on your way through Portobello!

Yelp
Pretty good food, coffee and service. You and want eat something before the market, this is the place to go.

Yelp
The breakfast that makes you feel better to challenge the day! Just below our Apt! We got out and smell the cappuccino right away! Atmosphere inside is so sweet! Be back soon

Yelp
Really top notch casual brunchy food. My blt was fresh and packed. Deb's green breakfast (poached egg, feta, guacamole, spinach, chilli flakes on sourdough) was zingy and vibrant. Served on simple tin plates in bright airy surroundings in the achingly trendy part of portabello near golbourne which is slightly less touristy and still retains some charm. One star taken off for hot and bothered service with a grimace. But I can hack that for a nice blt.

Yelp
I cannot justify the high ratings this place received. Waited for 15 minutes without getting a menu, then managed to flagged down someone to give us a menu. Was then asked what we would like to order a minute later. Other customers were scavenging tables looking for extra cutlery. Service was incredibly poor, and one server was extremely rude to a customer sitting next to us. All the man did was ask for the bill, which the waiter saw as an opportunity to tell him off because he was so busy?!?!? Bill came and it was wrong, to which the waiter said it was fine, he would take the two items off. And upon splitting the bill, we ended up being the charged the same amount anyway...just wanted to get out of this place since it was a poor experience from the start. My vegetarian friend did not enjoy her meal - vegetarian stack, said it tasted weird. My meal was average.

Yelp
Lovely brunch ---- the green breakfast was delicious! Staff were friendly and kind. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Their breakfast menu is a must have in Portobello, the waitress who greeted us was also super friendly! Will definitely come back!

Yelp
I have had two nice brunches here. The coffee is not exactly my taste but the food has always been excellent. Most recently I had simple scrambled eggs on toast - they were super light and fluffy and flavorful. Our server was also extremely friendly and helpful. The only negative is the recent renovation of the space, which I assume was to enlarge it. Unfortunately it doesn't have to same cozy vibe as before, and my party of four ended up seated in the back, an echoey little room cut off from the rest of the space. The outdoor alley at the very back is a bonus though.

Yelp
UPDATE: I originally wrote a review in 2017 about how awful the staff were. I have been there a few times since. Including today (November 24th 2018) and I can honestly say the staff are now amongst the best when it comes to customer service. The food is nice and well priced but the staff are now fantastic. There was a gentleman in the kitchen (long hair in ponytail) who is always very nice and says hello and makes you feel welcome. The young man behind the till was lovely and when my partner went here a few days ago she said he was really nice to her and her friend. The waitress was very polite. A great turnaround here and now one of my favourite places to visit in London. Both healthy options and a naughty French toast for my cheat days. Well done to all for really changing your customer service up.

Yelp
It is a rather disappointing Café when it comes to quality coffee. Although pretty cute designed and warmly decorated, this Café definately didn't spend enough time and energy looking for the right coffee bean. I was going for an espresso which was surprisingly sour and didn't taste like coffee at all. The service is nice although a bit unorganized.

Yelp
Today, I had lunch next to Cersei Lannister & Catelyn Stark here, so you know this place is sort of a hidden gem on Portobello Road, just go pass the touristy areas. I have been greeted with friendly services both times I've been here. The atmosphere is really relaxed and generally quiet. All day brunch & breakfast is just AMAZING. I especially recommend their stacks (which are on roasted potato hash) + banana french toast but ask for pain au chocolat ;)

Yelp
The North end of Portobello Road used to be forgotten and negleted, merely attracting local trade from those in the know it has now been fully integrated into the steady stream of tourists walking up and down the market. Bluebells is a relatively new addition, immediately across from Lowry & Baker. And I must admit that I probably wouldn't have tried it if the latter wasn't still closed for a well deserved winter break. And I would probably have enjoyed Bluebells more without making direct comparisons. Where L&B is intimate and cosy, Bluebells is rather spacious and cold (I sat by the door which stood ajar more than it was shut on the year's coldest day so far ). In both you order your food at the counter which is then brought over to you. But while the girls across the road trust you to pay before you leave, you pay upfront at Bluebells. I tried some mushrooms on toast, which at £5 a go could probably have benefited from a bit of a salad garnish. You can never have too many cafes and the area can carry a few more. Bluebells is a decent enough addition but no competition for my all-time favourite across the road.

Yelp
Didn't realize the check-in offer was before 11am, with breakfast (went in around 16:00). They still gave me the free drink - which was very generous. Ended up talking to the owner (Johnny) - nice guy, with a clear passion. As for the place itself; lovely and simple interior, with an open kitchen. Limited seating out the front, but 5 tables out the back. Coffee tasted 'proper' - highly recommend.

Yelp
This little cafe was such a great find. And... the stafff "sheltered" us this afternoon during our Air BNB disaster booking. ( by the way AVOID AirBNB!) staff is lovely and BEST food during my two week European vacation!! Fantastic food and ambiance .

Yelp
Food was good when it finally arrived. The waitress forgot to turn in our order. However, once she realized it, she comped us a round of coffee. Nice place, mistakes happen.

Yelp
I would eat here everyday! The eggs and toast were yummy. They were the best! Mom ordered the Royale, and I ate all of her smoked salmon. Everything was delicious. The man that helped us was gave us great food.

Emilie W.

Yelp
Nice spot for coffee and food. All super tasty. Kind + cute server gave great recommendation for avocado + courgette cake. x

Amruta J.

Yelp
We had breakfast here while still jet lagged and their breakfast helped us get a great start to the day! The cappuccino was excellent. Though we didn't try any of the pastries, they looked heavenly. They have plenty vegetarian options and the staff is super friendly and willing to help. Definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Great eggs. I can't make scrambled eggs like that at home. Really good coffee. Not too touristy. Quick service. Had five breakfasts there in a week. All were excellent. French toast was outstanding.

Jack J.

Yelp
This place has everything I want in a restaurant/coffee spot. The food is on point. The coffee is excellent. And the pastries are perfection. Being an American from the south, I went with the chicken pot pie which is a seemingly risky move outside of the southern states. It was perfect. The cream sauce... the puff pastry... Unforgettable. I'll definitely return to Bluebelles the next time I cross the pond to visit the U.K. again.

Yelp
Small gem with a lovely brunch. Gets crowded on weekends but fast turnaround & helpful staff. Coffee and drinks could be larger.

Jenna R.

Yelp
I went in just after opening on a Saturday morning, looking for a nice but reasonable breakfast that also involved a huge pot of tea. I was absolutely not disappointed. Although the place is quite small, and I'm sure can get quite busy, when I went, there were many tables to choose from. The waitress/barista was on her own, and very apologetic about the delay in taking my order (she was busy making drinks for the group in front of me). Once I ordered, it only took a few minutes for my tea to arrive, and only a few more for my breakfast. The tea was wonderful-- a whole pot of earl grey-- and the French toast (Bluebelles' Mess) was fantastic. It's a croissant French toast served with creme fraiche and bananas. The portion was just right for me, and reasonably priced for London at 7,50. In sum, this is a wonderful little neighborhood gem at the (blissfully) quiet end of Portobello Road, with excellent food and friendly service. I will absolutely be going back!

Yelp
A little bit pricey but the food was really good! Decent portion too. Staff are also really nice. Also took a pecan pie away, it was okay, but recommend Lisboa a little further up the road for the best Portuguese cakes outside of Portugal.

Yelp
I had Breakfast Sardini(if im right) with cappuccino which were prepared well and seasoned properly. I was satisfied with what they served for its in my neighbourhood and i was with my friends in sunday afternoon. But after walking out of the place, soon i realised that i had been overcharged by £1.50 for fried egg which i had never ordered myself. I hope they were not making extra margins that way but if anyone asks me if i want to go there again? 75% on 'No'.

Yelp
Great eggs, reasonable service. Not that crowed for a brunch place in Portobello Road. Worth a try!
google avatar

Ann-Marja L.

Yelp
This is a fabulous place for brunch anytime. We had the eggs Benedict and a goat cheese salad between us. Both were perfect. The eggs were just the way i like them. The cappuccino was tasty-better than most in town. The staff was charming. I will definitely return with pleasure.

Yelp
This is a great little lunch/brunch spot. I went for a cup of tea with a friend and whilst I didn't eat anything, the food looked creative and outstanding. Next time I'm in the area for lunch I'm skipping pizza east and coming here for a soup/sandwich!
