Best pizza in San Leandro! I usually get the Grandma pizza or margherita, but there's no bad choice. Super friendly owner and staff. Small cozy interior seating. Recommend to call ahead for pickup or order online, they sometimes sell out.

Bluebird Pizza in San Leandro is one of those places that doesn’t need flash — just great pizza and a whole lot of East Coast soul. We came just to try the Grandma’s Pizza, and it blew us away. Crispy crust, perfect sauce, old-school flavor. It sells out early (often gone by 5pm on weekends), so plan ahead! There’s a small selection of local bottled beers, which pairs perfectly. Fran, the owner, is the real MVP — a true Jersey girl (see the sticker wall — I posted a photo!) and a respected local legend who still hand-makes every single pie herself. Passion. Craft. Hands down, the best pizza in the area! While there’s not much seating, many people opt for takeout. However, I prefer to eat here and enjoy it fresh out of the oven whenever possible. They have a great selection of beer, including some German options. The menu is simple, focusing on the quality of their pies!

Nothing to complain about. Pizza was delicious, piping hot and ready exactly on time. Fran was really nice and communicative, and price was right. Maybe if they were closer to Fremont cuz the slice in the car was better than the one after a 40min drive home, but can't change that. We look forward to coming back.

Great family owned and operated pizza joint! I’m so happy we found this little hole in the wall while we were in Oakland to see the Raider game. I would definitely go back if in the area again. I highly recommend to the locals.

It's a family affair...Fran and Ray Jr. sling the killer slices and pies while Ray Sr. pours the brews.... This joynt serves up the best NY pizza on the West Coast. It is the real deal and it is served with good old East Coast wise crackin. I love to go to Bluebird and watch a game, drink a hand crafted cold one on tap, and enjoy a slice. I love sharing a table with other folks as it always ends up in great conversation and fun times. I love the kids corner...books, puzzles, and games for the kids and family.

I discovered this little gem of a pizzeria when I lived in Hayward a few years ago. Now that I'm back here across the bay, I all too often DREAM of their custom cornmeal crust, sheetpan "Grandma Pizza" . . . and I'm literally salivating as I write this because I'm craving it right now. I no longer see it on the menu so ask - this one is well worth the $ and the pre-order / wait because it's made with lots of love and the most mouth watering ricotta, basil and whole tomatoes. I always request garlic, black olives & pepperoni too ;.) Hopefully this one's still available as an extra super *Special* order ! - WELL WORTH DRIVING ACROSS THE BAY FOR -

I recently visited Bluebird, and it exceeded all my expectations! The pizza was absolutely delicious--perfectly crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and the right amount of toppings. I had the white pizza and the New York combo, and the flavors were incredible. The staff is also super friendly, and you could tell that all the customers were regulars. I'll definitely be back!

I have eaten at this place a handful of times with my sister and brother in law in the past and I remember it being very delicious. My partner has been wanting to try this place out since the start of this year and we finally tried it. As soon as they opened, we called and ordered a half white and half pepperoni pizza. We were a little surprised to hear the pizzas would be done in 45 minutes but at the same time, I knew this place is very bustling and so we picked up our pizza and went straight home. We quickly ate almost the whole pizza box and it was delicious. The flavor and aroma were so fresh and tasty, but we were disappointed that the pizza was quite small. My partner noted the dough was not as great as he would like it to be but overall delicious.

My husband says this is the best pizza he's eaten on the West Coast! Their gluten free pizza is decent, too. We usually get take-out. There's limited seating. I know they sell out pretty quickly so call early in the night or order ahead of time.

Best pizza in the east bay, don't @me! There's a reason why their business hours are so limited, it is simply some of the best quality and tasting pizza around. Their dough/crust is special and unique, and they really know how to curate some great flavor combos. These guys sell out, so be sure to call ahead and call early. Take out only or dine in only, but it's worth the pilgrimage from wherever you're considering driving from!

Flatbread style pizzas. **Note: They are only open for dinner 3 nights a week and can sell out before they open! You can order ahead online!** Look for the blue building on the corner! This small spot may appear unremarkable at first glance, but they have damn good pizza. For me, the variety and flavor combinations they offer are all delicious! But if you're not sure what to order, you can't go wrong with Grandma's pizza. Part-focaccia, part mana from heaven, Grandma's pizza is filling and an easy crowd pleaser. Grandma's pizza is baked in a pan (square shaped) with tomato sauce, aged and fresh mozzarella, ricotta,and basil. I enjoy a slightly crisper crust, so I ordered ours well done (it's standard is more chewy than crisp). Solid pizza place! You have to try it.

Purchased 2 large pizzas for carry out (no small available today.. ok ?) and both were burned and tasted terrible because of it. Otherwise, it's possible they might have been good. No quality control on burned pizza coming out of the oven is a problem. I know they don't want to waste food, but you can't sell pizza that is ruined. Tried to call back and their phone was turned off. They turn the phone off frequently and it's very customer unfriendly. When ordering from here, I would suggest you check your pizza before leaving the shop, cause if you call back they may not answer, and if you take the time to come back, they will probably tell you "we're out of pizza."

Pizza is okay but they definitely don't like to work that much. They always run out of dough. If you call them after 6pm on a Friday don't expect to get your pizza from them. They are closed most of the weekdays. They are mostly a to go spot,there a couple tables but it's hard to get thThere are other options in San Leandro that doesn't require any begging for a pizza pie! You guys got potential but it's all about the work attitude!

Very light with sauce and light in salt. Taste homemade and the crust is chewy yet crispy on the outside. Very willing to do customized orders and very friendly. I've had better pizza but not as healthy and the service was great for a pickup order. Excellent beer choices as well. Got German beers that were excellent and I would not have ever been introduced to otherwise.

I heard that this was the best pizza in the area from a coworker. My husband and I finally tried it. We got the half combo and half margherita. I understand why they say quality over quantity. The ingredients are very fresh, their sauce is one of the best sauces I've tried. I will have to try another kind of pizza before I can say it's the best pizza I had. It's a nice pizzeria, the inside is very clean and organized. The staff was fast with giving my order I made online and was very friendly. I will definitely come again

Best New York style pizza in the east bay. Order early as they do run out. Cannoli for dessert. They need to open one in Castro Valley :)

Our favorite pizza spot! The dough and the quality ingredients sets this place apart from others. My favorite is either the White Pizza or Combination with added ricotta cheese. Yum! Tip: This place is always busy. Place your order on their website right before they open so that way your pizza will be first!

It's a YES for me! I'm from the east coast and pizza isn't CA best attribute! But after a friend took me here, this place hits home, but then again the owner is a female and from NJ! She was loud and served great pizza, couldn't ask for much more!! I left feeling like I was right back on the east coast! If you're looking for a thin, nice fluffy crust, great sauced pizza, don't miss this place!

I should start this review off with letting everyone know my kids and I are pizza experts and addicts (lol) Now on to the good stuff. We FINALLY had the chance to try BlueBird yesterday night and we were not disappointed! We ordered: - Half Hawaiian/Half Pepperoni & Mushroom 5/5 - Double Pepperoni 5/5 BOTH were so delicious! My boyfriend isn't the pizza type of guy but even he enjoyed it and ate a few more slices than he usually would lol. Both pizzas had the perfect amount of cheese, sauce, and toppings! Writing this review is making me want more all over again lol. Customer service 5/5 as well. Felt very welcomed walking in and Emily was super friendly and helpful when taking my order over the phone. This has definitely turned into our new pizza night spot and pizza night will once again be a weekly thing lol. Can't wait to return!

I have been going to this pizzeria for years now it is my most favorite when it comes to a margarita pizza with pepperoni! If you haven't given this place a try yet you are really missing out! Fran, the owner is a wonderful, kind human being. Her staff is friendly and attentive, but most of all her pizza from the crust to the ingredients is the best. If you love pizza like I love pizza you gotta give this place a shot. You will be so happy you did epic pizzeria!

My daughter worked here for a while and was a great experience New York style pizza is always the best. Ambience was great service was on point friendly and knowledgeable on the pizza they sell. Great ambience when eating in the restaurant.

A hidden gem in East Bay. Just the way a pizzeria should be. Great and courteous staff and the pizza were amazing! We did a half and half margherita and Greek pizza which both hit the spot. I'd highly recommend the cheese and pepperoni pizza slices on the go or just to savor while they bake your pie. I'd definitely go back to try out the grand Ma pie! Shout out the staff who were constantly taking phone orders but also ensuring all the dine in customers were taken care of so well!

Craving for a New York style pizza? Well look no further! The moment you take that first bite, you'll be ready to take a trip to the east coast. I've tried almost everything on the menu and all of it is MAD flavorful! (Like the New Yorker slang there? Lol) Although the hours and days of operation are slim (closed Monday & Tuesday, and only open for 3 to 4 hours Wednesday through Sunday). It's all worth it waiting for them to be open and grab yourself a pie or slice! Dine in or take out, doesn't matter. The staff and owner are amazing and super dope! Love how it feels like you're part of the crew every time I take a step inside. The tunes that play in the background always takes me back and have all the feels! Parking is slim too, so be careful walking across East 14th. You'll be running across the street yelling, "I'M WALKING HEREEEE!"

Pizza is ALWAYS delicious. Staff of very friendly and welcoming. If you crave a high quality pie this place is the spot. Definitely my favorite pizza place in my Area.

Fantastic pizza. Probably the best pizza I've ever had. Delicious crispy crust and fresh toppings. The service is friendly and enthusiastic. We came in with our 6 year old daughter, and it was very kid friendly. Felt very cozy, had a great neighborhood feel. I enjoy Fran and her east coast style shes the master pizza maker. This place is a must if you're in the area. Love the pizza and I love Fran.

Located at the corner of E Street past downtown, this place is easy to miss, but we'd read the Yelp reviews and knew we wanted to check it out. This place has a friendly, eclectic vibe where we were greeted and welcomed as we stepped in. They have a list of interesting combinations and you can even get a half n' half if you're ordering a 16" pie. We ordered the New York pizza, that came with sausage, peppers, mushroom & onions and sat at a table. We also got a beer and the staff mentioned that it was a new addition to their collection and we should let them know what we thought of it. While we waited there was a steady stream of takeout patrons, each being greeted like they were known friends by the cashier and the folks making the pizzas. Our pizza arrived, and as soon as I tasted it, I knew I had found my new favorite pizza spot! It was a perfect ratio of topping to flavorful, chewy crust with the right amount of sauce & cheese! My dining partner agreed, and we decided that we would be returning here frequently to sample the rest of their flavor combinations.

I ordered the double combo with spinach, I also am a frequent flyer of the E street combo. Both were very good! I also get some of their cannolis for my sweet tooth.I've been getting pizza from here for almost 2 years now and will continue getting it from here, every combo I've ordered had fresh ingredients and is closest to the pizza I use to have as a kid. The service has always been very good. All the staff there are very friendly. I usually get my pizza to go but sometimes I get there early so I'll have a pint or two while I'm waiting. It's a good place for a couple of cold ones and pizza. Good pizza, good beers, and good people!

Why does this place have to be so good that it's completely ruined other pizza shops for me now. I can not find another shop that even compares to this pizzeria & honestly I'm not too mad about it. It's just not close by to us, so we can't have it as much as we'd like. But lemme say when we do have it, it's absolutely delicious. My older brother placed a order for us at 9:15 for two pizzas. A Grandma Pizza with ricotta & a 12' pepperoni. We had a pickup time at 5pm and right when he walked it they were ready to go. Of course they were both delicious, we actually took it to the car and the three of us grubbed while it was nice and hot. The grandma pie has to be our absolute favorite , the sauce that they use on the pizza is top tier. The ricotta is always creamy and adds that extra bang to an amazing made pizza. The crust is always fluffy yet the perfect amount of crispy. Love the pepperoni too. We love crispy slightly greasy pizza. They just have absolutely mastered pizza in every way. Can y'all tell how much I enjoy this pizza spot! I will continue to rave about this pizza shop to anyone who will listen. I will always look forward to stopping by and having a pie from here.

This place is unpredictable. The pizza was good.. When we arrived I guess they ran out of dough for the pizza but we could place our order in for the last pizza. We were told that it would be the last pizza of the night. Next thing you know, another customer walks in and she places and order. Had we known that we weren't the last pizza to be made, we would have ordered a second pizza. I mean, come one we are 4 people. We were hungry. Then another customer walks in and they try to place an order as well and I got up and I said something about this. Why would say we are the last people to place an order for food and yet still accept ordered? This makes no sense. Do you choose who you want to serve?? Plus, there was time left. It wasn't even close to closing time. When I asked about this, I got crickets. Lol sooooo since I got no response at this establishment, someone answer my question here.

My parents were craving pizza and I decided it was time to find a more local, coveted spot that we could try instead of their usual fast food chains. Bluebird popped up immediately and what would you know, they also have vegan friendly pizzas. It was time to place our order! On a Sunday, they were open between 15:00 - 19:00 which doesn't give you a large window for orders. However, you can order in advance online and set the pick-up time so that your pizza is fresh and ready to go by the time you arrive. I ordered two 12" pizzas - the BBQ Chicken ($18) and the Heart of Glass ($15), the later of which I devoured. The pizza was a no-cheese, marinara base with artichoke hearts, mushrooms, peppadew, and spinach. Everything was made fresh to order and my vegan pizza was pretty good. I particularily enjoyed the crust but wish there was a bit more sauce despite them claiming to be "extra saucy," in the description. There's definitely more creative vegan pizzas out there especially in the Bay Area, but for a local spot to have options with a fantastic crust, I'll take it. I do wish they offered more salad options and one that was vegan friendly, but I'll take myself to the nearby grocery store to fill that void. One small issue I experienced for those that are looking to order a vegan/marinara pizza. When you try to order online, it only allows you to order a 16" as the 12" section for vegan pizzas is not fully functional. I'm not sure why but that was what prompted me to call in a bit early to see if I could place an order over the phone. Hopefully they resolve this in the future as I didn't want to overwhelm their phone line either. Thanks Bluebird for a good meal that my parents and I could both really enjoy!

AWESOME PIZZA! Quite possibly the best pizza I've ever had. So fresh & delicious! You can tell by the quality of the ingredients, they really take their time & pride in their food. The pizza is SO good! It's going to be our GO TO pizza place from now on. We were ready to go back today but they're closed. We'll happily wait until they're open again and get 2 different pizzas this time. We had the NY Combo & it was awesome! And we've never had a cannoli, so we'll get some of those as well.

The best pizza place in east bay for me. My go to orders are bbq chicken and Hawaiian pizza. They really do their pizza perfect. The customer service is exceptional. They really treat all their customer with respect. Kudos bluebird for many more orders to come!!!

The pizzas here are fantastic! I appreciate that they're not greasy. It almost tastes like a healthier option, allowing me to indulge a bit more than the usual. The one thing lacking would be the amount of sauce on the pizza but still love it.

Hands down, the best pizza in San Leandro. The most subtle twist on the Jersey style pizza where all the toppings are cut thin so everything is perfectly cooked. Magnificent crust! Try the spicy Kelly Girl my favorite.

Bluebird Pizzeria is only open 19 hours a week, so getting one of their pies takes a bit of planning. Let's just say I often have time blocked off on my calendar for "Margherita" (which is always better with extra sauce). For those of you who are goal oriented: Bluebird Pizzeria rewards your loyalty. Buy ten, get one free. I'm all in.

You can order online...unless they're too just. Then they turn online ordering off. But you can call your order in - which we did. Located in a busy street in San Leandro, this place has good availability of on street parking. We ordered 2 bags 16" pizzas, but they have a lot of popular 1/2 pizzas - that is, half your pizza is one flavor and the other half is another. We apparently did not remember how big 16" is and were not just surprised but actually amazed by how big the pizzas were! Nevertheless, it only took us 2 meals to finish them! The dough is their claim to fame and it was absolutely delicious. Would get again! A tiny bit of seating inside. Staff was very pleasant even tho they were clearly working hard! We will be back!

I felt that the service was good the pizza was delicious and I'm planning to go back for more and more good job for the pizza you're making reminds me of the pizza back home back east.

This is my wife and I's favorite pizza spot. Our go to is the White Four Cheese (half regular, half no garlic). Any time someone mentions Mike's Hot Honey I automatically bring up this place because it was the first place I've had it. A drizzled on the first bite and with the crust Their regular combo is great and so is there NY combo. I need to try there Nonna style pizza. But that White 4 cheese is automatic. Chill spot with booths. Nice place to celebrate occasions big o small.

Heard about this place from another Yelp Elite member and I was surprised I've never heard about this place! It's located on E14th a few minutes down the street from downtown, so it's easy to miss if you don't go beyond downtown San Leandro very often. The interior was very cool and quirky with a lot of decorations (I saw lava lamps for the first time in forever!). Me and my buddies came on a Sunday evening and was able to find a table immediately, but all the tables filled up as we were waiting for our pizzas. We ordered 2 pizzas: the NY pizza with white sauce and the four cheese with red sauce. It's a "regular" pizza, meaning it's not thin crust, not deep dish (maybe there's a specific name for the type but my pizza education is lacking). The crust had a nice crust on the outside but was also very light on the inside--the perfect combo for a crust! Of the 2 pizzas I ordered, I probably liked the four cheese more because I'm a cheese fiend, but the NY pizza was solid as well. The white sauce is a little subtle so I felt that having the red sauce would have been more complimentary with the NY. One of the top 3 pizza places in San Leandro in my book, I recommend!

One of the best pizza restaurants in the Bay Area. Every time we go over to the east bay we find ourselves at Bluebird. They use good quality cheese and the service is friendly. We also love to try the different premium sodas, buy 3 get 1 free I think.

Ordering ahead is pretty easy. And their pizzas are so incredibly delicious. I probably only eat pizza a couple times a year and this is the only place I want. Their crust is perfection. Please don't ever leave this location!

I was looking through Yelp for a pizza place near Hayward. Among the long list of pizza joints, mostly highly rated. I came across Bluebird Pizzeria, it was highly rated. What made the difference was the number of ratings it had. Whereas the others had an average of 300 ratings. Bluebird had over 700. Bluebird Pizzeria is literally "Hole in the Wall". It has limited seating, and parking as well. But the pizza makes it all worth it! We had the Double Pepperoni with anchovies( anchovies are high quality) on the side. Besides the cup pepperoni, the Molinari pepperoni from San Francisco is an example of the quality toppings that are used. Even with the double pepperoni the crust still had structure to it, and you didn't have to fold it over to eat. Their list of beverages is large. My girlfriend had a Black Cherry soda and I had Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. Again seating is limited, I suggest ordering Take-Out. Go to their website which you can do through Yelp. The other remarkable point is the service. You are welcomed as if you are a regular, and your request is answered with a smile. I always try to make it a practice to patronize a non-chain operated restaurant and places like Bluebird Pizzeria justify that reason.

I think people in the area like the idea of this restaurant and are greatly appreciative of having a different, more modern, diverse, and inclusive pizza place. However, the end result is not all that. The pizza is expensive and after ordering from them many times, just sort of soggy and not very tasty. Cheaper and more run of the mill chain restaurants are more statisfying for solely the pizza. However, every product they sell other than pizza is truly amazing. The cannoli and especially the pistachio cannoli is best I've ever had. This is a must order. Their drink, beer and wine selection is very nice. Service is very pleasant and ordering/pick up is dependable. I don't bother ordering here any longer as I just want classic, not chain restaurant, but good pizza that is not overly pretentious. Which is certainly an element to this venue. Try Rubiano's instead as a nice compromise between chain pizzas and homemade specialty pizzas. Rubiano's is more accessible and a bit more straight forward in their service and product.

Pizza is better than most in California. The hours are super limited which can be annoying. Everything on CA is pricey, this is no different so I can't fault them.

I have lived in the Bay Area for 30 years and learned of Blue Bird pizza about 10 months ago. Finally, real Sicilian pizza like my mama used to make. Place is small and limited hours but that doesn't matter when you are able to get real New York pizza. I tried the regular pizza and it is delicious as well. The owner is from New Jersey and makes everyone feel right at home. This is my go to for pizza. Highly recommend.

My mom refused to eat at our usual pizza joint so I had to check Yelp. I was really craving pizza. I made the order online since the phone was just dead, maybe they were too busy at opening. The pictures on here look so good, but I felt like the actual product wasn't what I expected. I ordered the 16 inch NY combo. I think they skimped on the toppings a bit. The taste was okay. My mom said she liked the lighter flavor of the sauce. But I'm just used to bigger chunks of topping, or more toppings in general. Not my thing but still good. The 16 inch is bigger than expected, and the price isn't outrageous. If I could give it a 3.5 I would. Maybe I ordered the wrong pizza.

Second Review: I tried 2 new pizzas Double Pepperoni (wonderful!) and their Greek Pizza with kalamata olives, artichoke hearts and feta cheese plus I added garlic. Both types Pepperoni are high quality meats and no indigestion! The Greek is my new Fav!! The flavors melt together and are divine!

Bluebirds is the best pizza hands down!! Their service is A1 , the owner is hella cool, and the staff is great! Me and my family went there last night before trick or treating , placed an order over the phone to eat there and got lucky enough that we got to eat! lol , let me tell you... make sure to place orders for pizza ahead of time especially when it's holidays because they run out like no tomorrow! That's how good they are !

Ordered online for pickup and the pizza was ready right on time. Staff were very friendly and the pickup was quick. I ordered the 16" pizza with half white and half Hawaiian. The pizza was delicious with generous amount of toppings and sauce, and the crust was perfectly baked. Will definitely come back to try their other pizzas. Side note, it would be great if there are more half and half pizza options on the menu.

I will give my review of Bluebird Pizzeria in one word--"YUMMY"!!!!!!! Just make sure you get your order in early!!
