Toronto Life Pulls Negative Restaurant Review | Eater

"A high-end steakhouse that received two out of five stars from critic Mark Pupo, who said much of the food was good or very good but criticized the steep, “queasy” prices and called it a “celebration restaurant” visited more for pomp than for the cooking. The critic’s review was posted online on December 19 but was taken down within days and later appeared in Toronto Life’s January print issue alongside a full-page ad from the restaurant’s owners, Liberty Entertainment Group, who have also hosted multiple Toronto Life events. The magazine’s publisher described the removal as an “internal matter” and provided no explanation; the restaurant’s CEO denied pressuring the outlet and called the review poorly written and personal. The episode prompted wider concern about editorial independence when advertisers are involved." - Monica Burton

I had the most wonderful dinner experience at this restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful - elegant, welcoming, and full of charm. It was a joy just to explore the space before settling in. The food was exceptional, especially the fresh Caesar salad. Not only was it delicious, but it was also prepared right in front of us, which added a special touch to the whole dining experience. What truly made the night unforgettable was the thoughtful gesture from the staff. They surprised me with a lovely gift and a note for my birthday - it was such a kind and personal touch that meant a lot. A huge thank you to our amazing waitress, Shams, who went above and beyond to make the evening perfect. His warmth and attention to detail made all the difference. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to friends and family!

This place is absolutely an experience. The food was top notch [for the price it better be :)] The quantity was good. Service was a bit slow, but it was well done. They have a beautiful patio, which is covered so you can enjoy your food while the pattering rain relaxes you. Pretty views of the city, I'd add this to your list if one can do it. I would recommend making reservations as it is quite a busy place. They do have self parking, very limited. Or just hand to valet for $5 more than the self parking.

We went on a Monday night. Our server Ramy was excellent! He was very attentive and patient with my grandma. The lobster mac and cheese was excellent and had pretty decent chunks of lobster in it. Prepare to be incredibly full as one salad and many of the sides are filling enough for a regular dinner. This menu is unique because when you order the entrees they don’t come with any sides it is mostly just the protein.

We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Shams, and from start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Shams went above and beyond to make our dinner feel personal and memorable. From the moment we were seated, he made us feel welcome, offering warm hospitality paired with a genuine smile. What truly stood out was Shams’ attention to detail and deep knowledge of the menu. The recommendations were spot-on—each dish better than the last. You could tell that Shams took pride in making sure we had not just a meal, but an experience. The pacing, the check-ins, and even the little moments of conversation all felt perfect and sincere. Dinner was so delightful that we didn’t think twice about coming back for dessert—and we were so glad we did! Thanks to Shams, our night ended on the sweetest note. Service like this is rare, and it’s clear Shams takes great pride in what he does. We’ll definitely be returning, not just for the food, but for the incredible service that made our evening truly special.

This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! My family and I were visiting from out of the country and decided to check out this restaurant. The food was amazing and had generous portions. The atmosphere was calm and romantic. However, it was the service that would definitely make me want to come back. Our server, Shams, exceeded our expectations of the service. He thoroughly explained each dish we ordered, gave excellent recommendations, and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable during our dinner. He even went as far as to bring over a sign to block the sunlight from my cousin’s eyes because she was facing the window. We had to leave before dessert for another activity we had reserved in the castle, but he invited us to come back for dessert after the activity, and served us just as kindly when we returned at the end of the night! The experience was well worth the price. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Google
BlueBloods Steakhouse at Casa Loma was excellent. Steaks were perfectly cooked with a great char, garlic mashed potatoes were rich and smooth, and the Old Fashioned was well made. Service was polished without feeling stiff. The setting has that old-school charm. Absolutely recommended.

Google
Very pricey but we enjoyed the food and service. The apps were all great (especially the grilled octopus). The duck fat fries were pretty good as well. The steaks were cooked perfectly and table side prepared Ceasars salad was done superbly. I've had some salads that came out either too salty, too soggy or just not quite right but they prepared it perfectly here. The servers were on top of everything we needed but were not intrusive. At $150-$200 per person (without alcohol), I'm not sure when I'll be back but I'll try to save up and justify another visit here.

Celebrated my graduation with my wife at BlueBlood Steakhouse inside Casa Loma—and it was honestly one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Service was excellent. Raquel, our server, was super friendly and made us feel like we were celebrating something special. The whole staff added those little touches that made the night feel personal. I had the 12oz strip steak, medium well, and it came out exactly right—juicy, tender, and full of flavour. My wife had the Atlantic salmon, and it was perfect—crispy skin, moist inside, beautifully seasoned. The sides? Next level. The lobster mac and cheese was rich and creamy without being too heavy. The Kennebec fries were golden, crisp, and addictive. We cleaned our plates. And then there was the Royal Cheesecake—that cheesecake. Creamy, smooth, not too sweet, with that topping… we honestly joked about asking if they deliver to Kingston. We’d order it in a heartbeat. We also got to tour the main floor of Casa Loma after dinner, which added a fun, romantic vibe to the whole experience. If you’re looking to celebrate something big—or just want a meal that hits all the right notes—BlueBlood’s worth every bite.

Yelp
BlueBlood is what happens when Casa Loma gets a steakhouse--lavish, theatrical, and just a little full of itself. The space is gorgeous: all carved oak, high ceilings, and dramatic modern art mixed into castle elegance. You definitely feel like you're dining in Great Gatsby's private wing. The food delivers. The table-side Caesar was crisp, garlicky, and perfectly dressed, and the steaks (we tried three cuts) were all cooked medium rare with a solid sear. The lobster mac & cheese was rich and cozy, total comfort food. We also enjoyed the prime rib ravioli and grilled octopus--both flavorful and well-executed. The burger was excellent, too. Dessert came with more showmanship: the Baked Alaska was torched right at the table and tasted as good as it looked. The coconut cream pie was a gentler, nostalgic way to end the meal. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. The only miss? They refused to open our wine because we're not part of the "Bovine Wine Club" (yes, that's a real thing). It's amusing, but also a reminder that BlueBlood can take itself a bit too seriously. Overall, a fun, over-the-top dinner with great food, a few eye rolls, and a lot of flair.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant on my birthday and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I had called and made a reservation three weeks in advance, specifically asking if we would be allowed to access the back area to take photos. I was told over the phone that it wouldn't be a problem. Based on that, my partner and I arrived an hour early on the day of the reservation to take photos. However, when we asked upon arrival, we were abruptly told "no" without any explanation. The staff member's tone was rude and dismissive -- she simply said we couldn't and suggested we take pictures elsewhere, adding that there were plenty of other good spots. When we asked another staff member for clarification, we were told the patio was under construction and the alternate entrance was closed. Eventually, we spoke to a supervisor who kindly checked with the castle staff and arranged for us to go upstairs to take photos instead. He asked the original staff member to escort us, but even then, she continued to make unnecessary, unprofessional remarks -- such as, "Well, we can't control the weather." From the moment she greeted us, her attitude was unwelcoming. She made no attempt to listen or offer any accommodation until directed by her supervisor, and her ongoing tone and remarks were incredibly disrespectful. I was genuinely holding back tears walking upstairs because of how she was speaking down to me. I wanted to leave right then and there but i didn't want to get charged $50 per person for last minute cancellations. We also already paid $20 for parking at this point While the food was good, service and atmosphere are just as important at a restaurant of this caliber -- and this experience completely ruined the occasion for me. We had also dined here for Valentine's Day the year before, and service then was similarly underwhelming. We returned this time because we enjoyed the food and hoped for a better experience. Sadly, this visit confirmed we won't be coming back. There are many other restaurants in Toronto that offer both excellent food and respectful service -- I would not recommend this one. Save your money and please go somewhere else.

Yelp
I came here for my husband and I's anniversary and we truly enjoyed our time there! The staff are super attentive during our meal and made great recommendations! Our steak was perfectly cooked and our sides were absolutely delicious! We would definitely come again for future celebrations! Note - there is paid parking on site I or you can also opt for paid valet parking as well.

Yelp
Service here was impeccable. Majority of the food was delicious. Got a wagyu tasting, other steaks, lamb chops. Starters were kale salad, sushi, prawns. All were amazing. The sides though could use some work. Favorites were the mashed. Tried the fries but the wedges were way too large to be cooked through (really underdone in the midsle and lacked flavor), onion rings as well, and broccolini needed just a tad more cooking time as well. Desserts were amazing too. Loved that this place was inside a castle. Would def come back

Yelp
It's a nice place for a special occasion. The restaurant and surroundings are beautiful. Nice ambience inside the restaurant. The food is hit or miss, specially the steak and octopus , never consistent. Their Caesar salad is always delicious.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant & ambience. It's always a nice feeling going to Casa Loma. I really enjoyed all the food & win, except for the steak. I found the steak very fatty & not cooked correctly. However, I would still go back as I enjoy the ambience & the other options on the menu.

Yelp
I took my husband here for dinner and we loved the setting, the atmosphere and the service...the food was great, but I would not say that it blew me away. We got a three cheese plate and it was really good....for dinner, we got the Wagyu sampler, which came with an American, Australian and Japanese filet samples (4 oz each). I definitely loved the Japanese one the best...then the American, then the Australian. Great dining experience, but I don't know if I would repeat the sampler.

Yelp
Still no call backs from them. Disappointment at its finest. You'll get better service elsewhere for your money

Yelp
We made a reservation for dinner on a Monday and were warmly welcomed by the staff upon arrival. We had to wait a few minutes for our table, and unfortunately, we were seated next to a group of 12 men celebrating a birthday. It was fine at first as we sat by the fireplace, but as they had enough to drink and became very loud and disrupted our meal. I think the hostess could have reserved this section for their group and seated us elsewhere, so both parties could have a better experience. On the bright side, the food was really good. We had the "Prime Steak Tartare in Bone Marrow Canoe" and "BlueBlood Chopped Salad" for appetizers. The steak tartare was fresh and flavorful, but the chopped salad was just okay, nothing special. For the main course, we ordered the "American, Mishima Reserve 6 oz Filet Mignon Wagyu" with "Morel Mushroom Sauce," cooked medium. The Wagyu was incredible--so tender and juicy, it melted in your mouth. For dessert, we had the "Tableside Baked Alaska for Two," and it was a joy to watch it being prepared and served.

Yelp
We always want to try a good steakhouse whenever we travel, so this one was our number 1 choice in Toronto. The location was quite unique, being located in an old historic castle (Casa Loma). There is a large mandatory parking lot due to the no street parking around the area. *Reservations required here* We ordered the wagyu steakburger, 44 oz tomahawk, 12 oz of kobe steak (@ $40 cad per oz), side of creamed corn, and truffle potato gratin. All the food tasted delicious, especially the kobe steak, because it melted in your mouth- sooo good! The dry aged tomahawk was a little overcooked (we requested medium rare) & chewy but still yummy. The creamed corn was probably the best side I've ever had with steak, being extra sweet and very flavorful, truffle potato was good too. The burger was cooked to perfection with a pic of the castle+BB embossed on the bun, duck fat fries were okay. While the food was being prepared, we were able to take a tour of the castle, which was beautiful. The decor revolved around a princess and a prince theme. Food was quite pricey but worth it because we left happy and full. Not to mention, our server, Sergio, was absolutely amazing, making our experience even better!

Yelp
DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. The service is terrible and even after the evening I will describe, no one called to apologize. Here was our experience: I made a reservation a couple of months ago for my husband and I to have dinner at Blueblood (originally in a pod but it was too hot) for our 30th wedding anniversary. My husband loves steak and I expected to have a really nice evening. It started off well in spite of the heat. We were seated on the patio and our waiver assisted us with drinks and our order. But that was the end of our waiter, after that the service ended. We said we were interested in wine with dinner and the waiter said he would send over the sommelier, but that didn't happen. We waited 20 minutes after we got our food and then I went and flagged someone down who took our wine order and brought wine. Our dinner was fine, but to be honest, I hate any form of onions and advised the waiter of this. I reminded him when he brought the chive butter and asked for an alternative and I also confirmed when I ordered dinner there were no onions in the mushrooms and yet they arrived covered in chives. After we had finished our dinner I thought it would be nice to have an after-dinner drink or coffee and watch the end of the concert, but 30 mins after we finished our dinner there was still no sign of the waiter. We went for a short walk, came back to our table, realized a drink or coffee was not going to happen, went to find someone to pay the bill and left. We were there for almost 3 hours and the service was worse than McDonald's table service. The evening was extremely disappointing especially since it was a special occasion (which the waiter knew as he mentioned it when we first met) and I had gone out of my way to make a reservation for a nice dinner for us for our 30th anniversary. It took a lot of effort for me to do this and to get out of work early as I'm extremely busy and it was overall a very big disappointment. Given that when i followed up with the restaurant i got no apology, it is clear that they don't care. I strongly discourage anyone from going to this restaurant. It was very very expensive and not worth it.

Yelp
How would you like to have your dessert flambéed table-side? Dishes like the classic Caesar salad and the baked Alaska are finished table-side, giving its patrons the Royal treatment. BlueBlood Steakhouse offers a variety of steak cuts from around the world, including Wagyu from Mishima Reserve (U.S.A.), MB9+ (Australia), and A5 (Japan). The menu also features steak house classics, and seafood towers if you prefer. The Wagyu tasting menu includes all three types of Wagyu. Casa Loma was built in 1914 by Sir Henry Pellatt, a prominent Canadian financier and military officer. The castle was designed by E.J. Lennox, one of the most prominent architects in Toronto at the time. BlueBlood Steakhouse opened its doors in 2017.

Yelp
We had an awesome evening at Blueblood. Started with an afternoon tour of the museum, then a casa Loma escape room experience and closed the night with a delicious dinner at Blueblood. Pricey but the food was so worth it and the service was top notch. Special shout out to our server Mark who took the best care of us.

Yelp
This is the most amazing steakhouse experience. We had such an amazing time during our dining experience . Our server did an amazing job helping us pick our meals and answering questions about the menu. We also worked with the sommelier who did a great job helping us pick a wine that would work with all the meals we ordered. The steakhouse venue is so cool and interesting. Definitely, take a few minutes to at least walk through the first floor. The dining room is really cool too. The woodwork is very detailed and beautiful. My ribeye steak was perfect. The Wagyu steak by the ounce was absolutely perfect. We all enjoyed our cocktails and wine. If you are in Toronto definitely make a reservation and enjoy a very special meal here.

Yelp
Simply put, best wagyu and caviar we've ever had. Service was outstanding and the interior was warm and inviting.

Yelp
The experience of dining here plays a huge factor in my rating. It's a castle, so everything looks and feels like royalty. You're treated like a special guest from the moment you walk in. We had reserved an outdoor pod for some privacy and it's nice, as you're able to enjoy the weather while still being a little more tucked away. For appetizers, we had the steak tartare in bone marrow canoe and it was an interesting dish. It did look pretty cool and I've never had something like it. It tasted pretty good but I probably wouldn't order it again. I also had a caesar salad; I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to get it because their menu says minimum of two people and my boyfriend can't eat caesar salads, but that is just for the tableside caesar. I was surprised by how much I could taste the anchovy flavour in the salad. It tasted fresh, and was a nice twist to your classic caesar salad. I was already getting full at this point so I opted to just order the lobster mac as my main and my boyfriend had the 12oz strip loin. The lobster mac, I had high hopes for - I LOVE mac and cheese so I thought this was sure to be a hit. But it was such a huge let down. It tasted so fishy, the sauce was watery and not cheesy at all, and the taste was just bad. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak, though, so I guess there's that. We had written that it was our anniversary so they kindly gave us two champagne glasses on the house. Our server was really lovely; he gave us a little tour of the castle (the parts that he was allowed to show us) after our meal and gave us some fun history facts. We got to take a look at the garden (there was a separate event happening so couldn't actually walk in) and of course, the iconic view from the terrace. Overall, it's definitely worth a visit for the views and getting to visit the castle. But I wasn't wow'ed by the food.

Stacey M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I loved it. Our waiter Ryan, was amazing. The food was top-tier. Beautiful atmosphere, romantic. Dope vibe. Busy but not chaotic, somehow it's not too loud. The table side Caesar salad was delicious. The cocktails were wonderful. The Wagyu Alaskan steak was mouthwatering. This restaurant is in a beautiful castle. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
I enjoyed this restaurant inside Casa Loma. I didn't know what to expect but with the name blue blood, I expected to pay a hefty dinner fee. However, I found that there were affordable options for drinks and food on the menu and also higher priced items. Came here after soul in the city, where the food options was limited. You get to enjoy your meal in a magnificently opulent setting, with high ceilings, chandeliers, tufted couches dark wooden walls, plastered ceiling and of course a meal inside the famous casa loma. You can sit by the balcony where there's window doors, they also have clear domes to sit in outside. Washroom is inside casa Loma, so you get to enjoy the main hall of casa Loma too. I was seated by the balcony windows so I can actually hear the soul in the city from the restaurant and walk out the balcony to view the gardens. Staff is very attentive. Parking is $15, valet is $20. I am in love the complimentary cheese bread. It's so tasty. They did bring water which was not ordered but charged for approximately $8.50 for one glass. I didn't even drink it ,I didn't know, so I didn't like that part. They give a cute little chocolate in the end. They added the 20% gratuity already on the bill. I ordered the Canadian ribeye medium for $85. It was great. I could eat the whole thing as the fat was perfectly caramelized. It was delicious. Great seasoning. It came on a skillet, but I think that was for show because my steak was definitely not sizzling and I didn't feel the cast iron skillet was particularly hot. Shots are about $15 and I tried a craft beer which was tasty for $9. Of course all amounts are subject to hst. I would definitely visit again. It's a great vibe.

Yelp
Great dinner and the waiter Alex was amazing! He was amazing! Gave us some great recommendations for dinner. We had the Canadian rib eye. The Fries that were cooked in duck fat tasted great. The aioli garlic sauce was great with the fries. The caramel chocolate desert was also great!!! We saw a couple near us get and we had to have it.

Yelp
Great evening at Bluebloods. We were seated in the lounge area for a special dinner. Loved the sushi and steaks. The beef fat giant fries were also great. My son loved the dessert which had a table side show to make it magical. Amazing setting in the beautiful castle

Yelp
Atmosphere : super friendly staff, very knowledgeable and chatty (our waiter was funny, professional, and attentive) . Venue is one of a kind - restaurant itself is classy and gives an old library / castle feel - you are free to tour the castle's first floor after dinner or as you're waiting for food, as well as the gardens. Makes for some lovely photo opportunities during sunset! We dressed up (and so did many other patrons) so a nice place for a celebration or just a fancy dinner :) Food: 1) Gravlax: was good, loved the fresh dill in this dish to balance out the smoked salmon. It is quite smokey however so wouldn't recommend if that isn't your thing 2) Wagyu Carpaccio: amazing. Loved the bite of the mustard seeds. 3) Porterhouse: probably one of the best cooked steaks I've had - Nicely cooked to medium with a good (but NOT burnt) crust. Super juicy, melts in your mouth, amazing flavors. Was able to share with 1-2 other people. 4) Chilean seabass: love the tenderness and fattiness of the fish. Buttery and yummy :) 5) Creamed Corn: was good, added a nice sweetness to all the savory dishes. One of my all time favorite sides 6) Gorgonzola Gnocchi: my least favorite dish here, probably because I don't LOVE cheese and gorgonzola was a bit strong for me, but gnocchi was good quality and if you love cheesy dishes - this one's for you!

Yelp
This was the BEST dinner I've had in Toronto! The service was amazing and every server there was very attentive. The ambiance was great after a tour of Casa Loma. The Pink Drink also tasted great and wasn't too sweet. I would 100% return and was worth every penny!

Yelp
Waited to write this review after I gave it another chance. Unfortunately my experience was consistently not great. The good: The lobster mac and cheese is really good but would recommend just getting it for take out. The baked Alaska is a great showstopper and presented in a fun way. The not so good: The service and the food here is a bit all over the place and not what you would expect for the prices you are paying. Definitely would not come here for a special occasion because it was disappointing for me each time.

Yelp
Went for a special dinner with friends and spent $1,350 to get food poisoning - all four of us! We weren't sure of the cause but it could have been the raw egg in the table-side Caesar salad. The general manager was responsive when we called but no refund was offered and we were only given an unspecified 'credit' if we ever decide to return. A big disappointment on every level.

Yelp
Made a reservation for a group of 7. Once we arrived, they informed us it would be $200 per person. We were not informed of this prior to arriving or when making a reservation. We told them we were going to leave but then they suddenly made an exception for our table. Service is extremely slow. We probably waited around 20-30 minutes before they even started to take our orders. There were only two other tables besides ours. All food took long to arrive. Bills took even longer to arrive. We were there for 3+ hours, most of it was waiting time. Food was good but not amazing. I didn't have a steak which I know is their specialty, but I had the wagyu burger. Very large in size, very average in taste. The fries are huge but almost tasteless. Being in Casa Loma, the ambiance and environment is beautiful. Presentation of food and drinks were on point. However I would only recommend going here if you want to splurge on $80+ steaks, $25+ cocktails and $20+ desserts.

Yelp
I recently dined at BlueBlood Steakhouse with a friend on a Tuesday evening, and I must share our deeply disappointing experience. We sat outside in a lovely pod, and our waitress promptly asked if we wanted wine. We agreed, and she said she would call the sommelier for suggestions. However, after ten minutes, the waitress returned to take our order without the sommelier. We mentioned this, and she apologized, saying she would call them again. Despite this, our steaks arrived 10-15 minutes later, and we still hadn't seen the sommelier. We were left to choose a wine ourselves while our steaks grew cold, on a night that wasn't even busy. After another ten minutes, my friend had to embarrassingly walk into the kitchen to hand over our wine selection. The wine finally arrived, but by then, our steaks were nearly finished. The waitress only offered an apology--no compensation, no complimentary wine, or dessert. We ended up paying over $500 for a meal that was ruined by poor service and disrespect. A few days later, I called the manager, Cillian, who apologized and offered a free dessert and drinks for our next visit. This offer felt like another slap in the face. Given our experience, a meal compensation was the least they could have done. Ignoring our request three times, serving cold steak, and then offering such minimal compensation is truly appalling. He also mentioned he was there that night. Why didn't he come to our table to explain what happened and apologize? Does he not know what is going on in the restaurant? The waitress had to apologize three times, and we literally walked into the kitchen to find someone to help us. How is he not that attentive? I know people reading this will think, "Oh, they didn't get their wine on time, poor them," but that's not the point. The issue is the complete lack of attention and respect we received throughout our dining experience. Being ignored repeatedly and having to embarrassingly seek out service in a high-end restaurant is unacceptable. This kind of treatment ruins what should have been a special evening and is far below what one should expect from a restaurant of this quality. If you want to go to a fancy restaurant to spend a lot of money and be ignored and disrespected, then BlueBlood Steakhouse is the place to go.

Yelp
Eat in a castle and enjoy the great ambiance, food and service! We had our table outside in the patio and between the heated covered area with nice view and comfortable seating. The experience from the hostess, servers and wine person were top notch. All the Covid protocols were followed. Now the food: - the bread was excellent-I actually wanted more but my better half did not allow me to ask :) - appetizers: lobster soup and Foie gras were delicious. The ravioli beef ribs were so-so; the taste was good but the rib portions was on the light side - dessert: good thing we left a bit of room to share the hazelnut chocolate which was out of this world - Side portion-you must have the Mac and Lobster! So no more! - I left the main course review last on purpose since this is the part that prevented a 5 star review and I even toyed with giving a 3.5 star. WHAT???? How is that possible A. Beef Wellington: a bit over cooked and hence the meat was not tender enough B. Both of our steaks were perfectly prepared medium rare BUT the temperature on both of them was room temperature to cold! That was disappointing. We struggled through about a third of the steaks before our server asked us about the food-he offered to bring it back to get it seared to get it to the proper temperature. After we go it back it was perfect! It was too bad we ended up filling ourselves up on the Mac/lobster and taking home the steak. Overall the experience was good but the main course did put a bit of a damper on the evening.

Yelp
In past years, this establishment was kept clean and the food was meticulously made with appetizing presentation when serving orders to the customers. This year for some reason the quality has gone totally down, the restaurant looks filthy (floors are littered with spilled stuff). In my opinion, it looks like management/ownership has changed since seeing such a drastic change. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone - don't waist your money! To boot, I had mentioned my allergy to the waitress and asked several times if the dish I had chosen was free green/orange/yellow peppers and she reassured me it was. I get served and my dish was full of pieces of pepper! Servings staff should be made familiar with the items on the menu or someone can have severe reactions! Hopefully, this review helps people to decide...

Yelp
If you're looking for a fancy place to have dinner, BlueBlood has got to be on the top of your list! My boyfriend and I celebrated our 10th anniversary at Casa Loma and decided to go all out and treat ourselves to their steakhouse. The ambience is unbeatable! I mean how many times can you say you've dined in a castle? The service made us feel like royalty from the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant. And last but not least, the food is to die for! If it wasn't for the price we'd be there every lol

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Bluebloods for awhile but due to the expense I was saving it for a special occasion. Unfortunately that didn't occur before Corona hit Toronto and restaurants were shut down, but I was thrilled to see that it had re-opened for takeout and delivery (something that you would normally not get at a restaurant of this calibre). My boyfriend and I decided to have a date night in and order from Bluebloods. We were happy to see that they had some specials. We ordered the Shortrib Beef Wellington for 2, which came with 2 sides; we choose the Rapini with a Gruyere Sauce and the Goose Fat Potatoes with Thyme. This was only $55! We weren't sure of the portion sizes, so we ordered the Alaskan Crab Fritters to start, and I have a Coconut Cream Pie obsession so I ordered a slice for dessert. With tax, delivery and tip it came to about $110. When we order delivery it can add up, so considering we were ordering from a fine dining restaurant we were pretty happy. The food was packaged well and really warm. The short rib wellington was amazing. It just melted in your mouth. The potatoes had a lot of flavour. The rapini was crisp and the sauce paired so well with it. The fritters were a bit disappointing. The flavour was good with a little spice, but they were a bit dry and tasted like they had been sitting for awhile. The portion sizes were quite nice and we actually have leftovers. Haven't bit into the pie yet, but I cannot wait!

Yelp
Fine dining is usually a hit or miss for me but fortunately I did not regret my decision to go to BlueBlood. Because of the price point I recommend saving your trip here for a special occasion as it will give you the chance to celebrate in style - also we got a cute birthday card and gift during our visit! First and foremost this restaurant is situated inside Casa Loma so automatic 10/10 for its ambience, interior, appearance or whatever you want to call it. Remember to dress to impress so you can match the aesthetic of this place. (On a side note: their patio has these cool bubbles to dine in now which I want to check out another time) In terms of the actual food I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had but I still enjoyed most of it. The lobster bisque was ordinary at best although it had a lot of lobster pieces inside which was nice. The scallop risotto was a huge hit for me, but the chicken could've been better. Luckily the extra sides I ordered with it helped save the day as the mashed potatoes and broccolini were truly delicious - and I took home the leftovers to eat the next day. Take these comments with the disclaimer that this restaurant is primarily a steakhouse so I'm assuming their actual steak might taste way better than the dishes that I had. For dessert we ordered the crepes for the sole reason that they flambé it table-side and we wanted something to post on social media but in all honesty I didn't enjoy the flavour (citrus) at all. Afterwards we were told that the baked Alaska also comes with a table-side show so I would recommend trying that instead. I also wanted to add that the service was amazing so overall it was a great experience and hopefully my review will help anyone interested in going to be more mindful of what they order.

Yelp
BlueBlood easily goes on my top favourites list. Their negroni is fantastic & the grilled octopus was quite good but the mains are what stole the show. The strip loin was cooked a perfect med rare, just the way I like, & the chimichurri sauce that came on the side was some of the best I've ever had. I also loved that I was given 3 kinds of salt to have with my steak, very nice touch & I love having options. The lamb is also insanelyyy delicious. No words to fully describe it. Got the sautéed broccolini on the side & it was wonderfully cooked - still crunchy, but still tender. The ambiance is warm, romantic & very cozy. The cowhide touches on the booths & the huge moose head over the bar were very unique touches. Not to mention the service was fantastic - the bartender would come around to refold your napkin when you went to the bathroom, happily made recommendations based on personal taste & allergies, etc. BlueBlood is the place to be for a romantic date night, intimate family dinner, or any other special occasion. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We have always wanted to eat here. I went online and made reservations a few Sundays ago. We took in the tour of Casa Loma first, and had an early dinner at 5 p.m. The steak was one of the best I've ever had. Cooked perfectly. I don't think the service could have been better if they had tried. The asparagus was slightly crispy with a lemon sauce and the truffle induced potatoes were over the top great. We don't think we have ever seen a slice of cheesecake cut as generously as what we received! We were seated immediately. A wonderful night.

Yelp
dinner at the castle, began with easy valet, driving and an escort up the stairs into the restaurant. The meandering seating allows guests to dine at various table types. We chose a circular booth for our party immediately waiter explained a variety of cocktails that were available. Mine came in a glass bell filled with smoke. The presentation was outstanding. Raw oysters, perfectly cut, and salted steak fresh made at the table salad and attentive service insured that our dining experience was remarkable. Looking forward to trying the outdoor experience when weather permits.

Yelp
We had always wanted to eat here for quite some time. We had visited many high-end restaurants in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto and this eatery was always on top of our list to visit always for the next time. What can I say? This restaurant didn't disappoint. The great outdoor patio ambience and decor captured the medieval look tucked in the middle of uptown Toronto in North York. Located at the upper part where the castle sits, Blueblood restaurant is one of the premiere steakhouses in town. Due to COVID-19, all guests dined outdoors. It would be a great choice after a sweltering heat spell. The continual validation of your needs was constant from the moment you were greeted by the hostess at its entrance to our main waiter who served us throughout our dinner. our waiter was receptive and knowledgeable of the menu. There were plenty of choices from their famous steak choices (Their Wagu steak can't be beat, though we didn't order it this time around). Great for a romantic rendez vous to a group/ family get together. Not far below from it's outdoor terrasse, you can hear events happening at the castle's garden like weddings. I recommend that you book a few months ahead to be able to reserve for a weekend spot. Our choice of the seafood tower, rib eye and raspberry cheesecake was delicious. Yes, you can arguably say you can get better steak elsewhere, but the combination of it's savory meals, impeccable service and outdoor patio are impressive. One thing though, I would have played classical music or jazz as their musical background rather than 80's or 90's musi, it would have integrated better with its scenery. Valet parking and self serve parking available. You can visit the museum at Casa Loma before or afterwards, not included with your meal. Like all high end restaurants get ready to open your wallet...$$$$

Yelp
Seen so many posts on social media about BlueBlood with gorgeous views and thought it'd be such a romantic and cute date night for my hubby and I... but we got the worse seats ever LMFAO in a dinky little corner where our views were blocked with tall plants and railings?? I even made a note that it was for date night too... like cmon man LMAO For appetizers, we ordered a dozen oysters, wagyu beef carpaccio and alaska crab fitters. The best app was the oysters for sure... but only the tiny ones (I forgot which kind these are sorry!), the malpeque ones were still so sandy!! The carpaccio and crab fritters were too dry. Of course, we ordered steaks for our mains. I went with the Wagyu filet mignon and my hubby got the 12 oz striplion. We asked for medium rare but they were both overcooked - my hubby's especially. We were way too hungry to send it back though so we sucked it up Lol. Our lobster mac and cheese was so creamhy and the star of the show the entire night! The mashed potatoes were just like any other mashed potatoes. Service was pretty standard, it doesn't make up for the dry apps and overcooked steaks though .. our bill ended up being about $400 after tax and tips for horrible views and below average food :( We were so disappointed we had to go the Keg the week after to make up for our experience here LMAO we got much better food and service for half the price..... sighs Blueblood is definitely not on my return list for steakhouses Lol !!

Yelp
Located in the Casa Loma, this place is one of the fanciest restaurants I've ever been to. I was at the Oakroom which is absolutely gorgeous and immaculate. The servers are very professional and polite. My suggestion is to order italian wine there. Steak there is just too good to be true. Both the porterhouse and the wagyu were flawless. The seafood tower was also great, though it could include a more diverse portions. I do suggest this place!!

Yelp
I came here to treat my girlfriend for her birthday and I found the food and service to be impeccable. We ordered oysters as an appetizer and they came with lemon and a few different sauces. They were very tasty and left me wanting more. For entrees, I got the wagyu striploin from Australia while my girlfriend ordered a Canadian striploin. I've never had wagyu beef since it's pricey but well worth it since it was the best steak I've ever had. Seasoning was perfect and it had that tasty flavour that comes from high fat content. The sear was also incredible, just enough to feel crispy but not burnt. We also ordered some peppercorn sauce for extra flavour and we additionally received some Himalayan salts. Along with the entree, we ordered a bottle of Italian Pinot Grigio that both my girlfriend and I really liked. For dessert, we shared a crepe brûlée that topped off the night perfectly. The ambiance was great since it wasn't too full due to capacity restrictions. We were able to sit in a large booth in the oak room. I'd like to compliment our server, an older gentleman whose name I unfortunately forgot. He was very attentive with both our food and wine and had a warm personality.

Yelp
Great environment and ambiance. I mean, you're literally eating in a castle! We opted for outdoor seating and the view of the city was nice from our seat. The staff were amazing and it was great service from the moment we arrived to the restaurant to when we paid the bill. There is on-site parking right outside the restaurant for $15; however, there is plenty of Green P street parking along Davenport Road. I went on a Wednesday night so parking was not hard to find. There's also a public parking lot (1138 Bathurst St) that is a 15-minute walk from the restaurant for $5 Flat Rate. The food had great taste! Everything was cooked perfectly and plated beautifully. The reason I rate this 3-stars is because it's extremely pricey. I would never return to this restaurant because it's a "go once and never again" kind of deal. I've dined at expensive steakhouses (e.g. Ruth's Chris, Peter's Fine Dining) and those are good and special enough as a whole for me to want to continue to go back. All dishes DO NOT come with sides. Just the steak or whatever you ordered and you have to pay extra for the sides. When you go to BlueBlood, you're definitely paying for the ambiance, feel of the restaurant, and the fact that you're at Casa Loma.

Yelp
Aside from the beautiful castle and impeccable service, I find this place too dark/dim and the food overpriced and underwhelming for what you get. We pretty much ordered all the finest food, drinks and desserts. For an establishment with such historical eye-candy, as it got darker, our booth and surroundings did as well. There's little to no indirect lighting to be able to appreciate the decor, let alone see what you're eating. Our huge table had this single little thin lamp that was cool, but at max brightness only lit up a square foot of area underneath it. The Profiterole ($18) and Baked Alaska for two ($30) were worth every dollar, even just for the presentation alone. The table-side Caesar salad at $24 per person (min 2 ppl order) was nothing spectacular and small in size at the per person cost. Making it table-side was decent. We must've had at least 7 different staff at our table, all very professional and approachable - kudos to the service staff. However, at $18 for the duck-fat fries, I expected more than a small one-potato sized tin cup of them (see photo). It's like they ran out of potatoes. The cocktails ranging from $20-22 were overpriced and also unremarkable. I'm a Tomahawk Steak connoisseur, and pretty much have had at least one at every major steak-house in the GTA and surrounding areas. For the 44oz at $220, it is one of the highest priced I've had, but also with the least amount of edible meat on it. Although cooked exactly how I asked, I've never had a Tomahawk (basically a ribeye still attached to the bone) OR a ribeye for that matter, being pretty much half inedible unrendered fat. In the photo, the entire triangular chunk (basically 1/3 of what I was served) is untrimmed inedible fat, as was the other sliced end and most of the 2nd strip in. I guess when they charge you per ounce, aside from the bone, they leave all the fat on, which I've never seen before in any Tomahawk I've had. I wish I had taken a photo of my finished plate; all the inedible fat was gathered together, and it seemed I was giving the waiter back exactly what he gave me. So I basically ate maybe a total of 3-1/2 strips - also with mostly chewy fat, that left my craving for a good steak unsatisfied. Marbling on a good steak is one thing, unrendered inedible fat is another. At Ruth's Chris steakhouse, a 40oz is $200, and on every occasion, the only thing left on my plate is a bare bone. You'll feel like you ate at least triple more meat on their Tomahawk, even at their lesser 40oz serving. For what this restaurant charges, the food quality and portions need much improvement. Never mind having to pay an additional $15 just to self-park. I'd rather pay $25 and at least get valet parking. If I go back to Castle Loma, it'll be for the tours, not the dinning. There's way better steakhouses with service just as good and their food better priced, portioned and tasting. After what we ordered and paid, we were all still hungry when we left.

Yelp
This restaurant is located in Casa Loma. We Ubered there from the hotel. The restaurant is a part of Casa Loma. Lots of dark wood and very elegant decorations. Service is superb from the time you walk in. The hostesses were very friendly and promptly seated us. Our server, Andy, was very welcoming and did a fine job making recommendations for cocktails in addition to explaining the specials. His attentiveness was stellar and he was seated with a few other tables too. We both ordered Canadian sources filets and they were cooked to the proper doneness. The sides we ordered were excellent. The truffled au gratin potatoes were amazing. We decided to get dessert and we were glad we did. We went with their apple pie. The slice was large enough to share. The pie was ridiculously good! It came with vanilla ice cream on the side. The dessert was worth the food coma. Word of warning: this place is expensive. Even with the positive exchange rate against the Canadian dollar, this meal will set you back. Figure about $150 per person with tax & tip. If you get a bottle of wine or have more than one cocktail, that amount will quickly rise. We went for our anniversary. For a special occasion in the Toronto area, it was an excellent choice.

Yelp
Great selection of steaks cooked to perfection. Ceaser salad hand mixed at your table. Cream of corn was wonderful, and steaks were out of this world. Shawn was our waiter and treated us first class. Splendid meal after finishing a tour of the Casa Loma castle.

Yelp
Ever been to the restaurant at Casa Loma before? We had a tremendous amount of options and we got to choose a few to try. We love our seafood and our steak, so of course we had to have the Seafood Tower and the Wagyu Filet (an assortment of three kinds of Wagyu). We didn't get dessert because we got too full but everything else was great! Items and Prices Below 1. Complementary bread 2. Lobster Bisque Cognac Cream $20 3. Big Eye Tuna Tartare $28 4. Seafood Tower $70/person 5. Table-Side Classic Caesar $22/person (minimum 2 people) (no photo) 6. Short Rib Wellington $58 7. Wagyu Filet Tasting $250 (America, Australian, Japanese Wagyu) 8. Truffle Potato Gratin Lobster Mac + Cheese $22

Yelp
First, lets just put it out there that when you're hav no dinner at a castle, things feel a little more special. I should also mention, it's COVID so everything is served on the patio. My wife and I had the Beef Carpaccio and Caprese salad. I thought the tomatoes were too thickly sliced in the caprese, I would have like to see a basil oil drizzled on the salad instead of some basil leaves haphazardly tossed on top. The Mozzarella was tasty but the balsamic....I have better balsamic in my cupboard at home. The Carpaccio was ok, the beef was not centre stage, I'm not sure what it tasted like to be perfectly honest, the truffle crumb was overwhelming for the dish, the mushrooms were a nice touch which makes the dish a bit more earthy. We had 3 sides to share, broccolini, the duck fat fries (a must) and classic mash cuz my girl is basic like that. All great, little cold as we were on the patio and everything gets cold with a bit of wind. I had the Guelph Ribeye, it was a little overdone, I had to add the salt to it which they give you three kinds. My wife had a Wagyu filet, it was cooked perfectly. Overall my impression, it's was ok. I wouldn't be back for the prices. But is it a steak experience you should have in TO....absolutely.

Yelp
We came here as a group to celebrate Father's Day and unfortunately it was quite disappointing. There was some renovations happening on the outside so there's rubble everywhere. They could've laid down something to make the walk from the parking lot easier. We tried to enter through the front doors with my elderly grandfather and was told to enter through the restaurant's entrance instead... There is no sign of the restaurant's entrance outside, there really should be as to make everyone's life easier. The service was poor, and for a restaurant that charges as much as they do, I was very disappointed. Our server didn't seem to have the patience for us while ordering and he wasn't very helpful or friendly. When food started to arrive with all the different servers, it seemed messy because they didn't know who ordered what, there should be more communication behind the scenes. We were seated quite tightly with clunky chairs and the servers didn't have much space to put the dishes down. What also didn't help was that they didn't announce or excuse themselves, with my back facing them, they scared me more than once. Plus one server almost tore out my earring with a utensil... though she was apologetic about it, but that's how close they got to our heads. We ordered many things, the steaks were okay, I ordered a rare Canadian Prime 12oz centre cut filet and it was more medium-rare. When I asked for fresh ground pepper, our server seemed annoyed and looked around to find me a pepper mill and just handed it to me... Best dish of the night was the table side caesar and the seared jumbo scallops. Worst dish of the night was the Wagyu steakburger, the burger was dry and bland, which is surprising for Wagyu. The bottom bun of the burger was soggy and a mess to pick up and eat, ended up using a fork instead.

Yelp
BlueBlood steakhouse is situated on a gorgeous gothic revival castle, with beautiful views of Toronto. We dined on the patio, which is appointed exquisitely. But you already knew that. The food is unfortunately where the devil lives. We had a unique dining experience - and not in a good way. Things started well. We had the market oysters and beef tartare in bone marrow to start. The oysters were fresh and was served with two nice sauces: uzu lemon, and bacon vinegar. Both were tasty. The beef tartare was fresh and tender, but lacked seasoning. I would've liked to see some bolder flavours, and some citrus would have really helped to cut through the richness of the beef, especially since it's served with a duck-fat cooked biscuit. Verdict on the tartare: not much to write home about. Nonetheless, things were going fine for our meal. Then our steak arrived. We had the 16oz Ribeye steak ($110) cut which we requested to be cooked Midrare. The steak arrived clearly over cooked - just from the touch, you could tell it was over. Slicing inside, there was a thick grey band, half of the steak was approaching well done, and the other half was medium, at best. How they managed to cook the steak so unevenly, I'll never know. Nonetheless, our waiter immediately spotted we weren't quite happy and asked if there was a problem. Not wanted to cause a scene, I explained the steak wasn't done to my liking. The waiter immediately agreed that it looked over cooked and promptly took it away. What happened next surprised me: the waiter immediately returned with the steak they had just taken away and explained that the chef said the steak was cooked to midrare. They then said to use my flashlight (keep in mind, this is 6:30 on a sunny evening) to see the 'redness'. In broad daylight, using a flashlight - What? I thought it was a joke at first. Redness or no redness, you could tell just from one bite, that all the goodness was cooked out of the steak. The waiter, sensing things were now going very poorly, lobbied the manager for a re-fire. I explained that it wouldn't be necessary for a re-fire as I wouldn't be able to finish (I hate wasting food), but they re-fired a new steak anyhow, which was a nice gesture. And everyone lived happily ever after! Nope - the refired steak came out teetering on Blue (maybe that's why it's called BlueBlood?). I had 2 bites of the steak and couldn't go any further - no body (well, certainly not me) eats 2 inch thick steak, Blue. We couldn't finish either of the steaks we were served and decided to pack them. I've taken photos of the steaks that we leftover so you can make your own conclusions. Steak aside, the sides were tasty - we had the broccolini was well cooked, and the duck fat hand cut fries. The fries were VERY thick - but I like a fluffy fry when cooked right, and these fries were tasty. Unfortunately, the steak ordeal put a very sour note on the evening, after all, it is a steakhouse, and we skipped out on dessert. Overall, I think you can get much better food for $200 per person elsewhere.
