Hands down the best sushi restaurant in town. You must get the ahi tuna sundae! We were so excited for it that I forgot to take a picture. The food is so fresh here. We have never had a bad meal or experience. Tornetta Roll, New Rainbow Roll and Marlee Roll were exceptional. Highly recommend.

Our visit was an absolute delight! We stopped in on a whim while in the area and couldn’t have been more pleased. The head chef and his wife were so warm and welcoming! The food was exceptional! Next time we are in the area, we will definitely revisit! 12/10 recommend!

The dining experience was exceptional. The quality of the food was truly remarkable. While there is room for improvement in terms of ambiance, the exceptional culinary offerings more than compensate for any shortcomings. I highly recommend this establishment and intend to return in the future. The sushi, in particular, was exceptionally fresh and delectable.

This is the best sushi in the Philly area and it’s right in a shopping center in the suburbs. You wouldn’t know it once you enter that you’re still in the suburbs. It has a cool metropolitan vibe ambiance. You have to make reservations and if you’re lucky, you may get a seat at the sushi bar. My favorite is the Spicy Tuna Sundae which I have to order every time I am there. You can’t go wrong with any of their dishes and sushi rolls. Everything is so fresh and delectable! It is pricey so we go for special occasions.

Small yet intimate in the dim lit setting. You can see the chefs and kitchen area and take note on the detail of cleanliness. Service was friendly & prompt. Everything was delicious. I do have to mention the Miso Baked Eggplant (small plates)— wow! Just perfection. Enjoyed the entire experience.

Bluefin is always an incredible suburban destination for a superb sushi and Japanese experience. I couldn’t recommend it more! They are super accommodating with rolls and made them without rice which was great with a group of people who have diabetic sensitivities and others who are trying to be conscious of their consumption. Everything is amazing. More than the food though, the chefs and the staff are so kind and helpful and I am very grateful for that as it really adds to the overall experience there. The one waiter remembered my family and even complimented me on my chopstick skills. I was very touched! I’ve been back so many times since and each time is better than the next. All sushi restaurants should aspire to be like Bluefin!

My wife and I went here for dinner and had a great experience. Two things right off the bat - one, you should make a reservation because this place is packed for dinner, and rightfully so. And two, it’s BYOB, so if you’re looking to have a few drinks with dinner bring whatever you’d like. My wife and I didn’t know either of these until we walked in. The staff was very friendly and explained that they were fully booked for the night but they might be able to squeeze us in if we didn’t mind waiting. We were in no rush so we went to grab some beer and came back and waited until two seats opened up at the sushi counter. As we were waiting, we struck up conversation with a few people who were either leaving or waiting to pick up take out, and every single person said “wait it out, trust me it’ll be worth it”. They were right; I’m glad we waited it out, it was indeed well worth it. We ordered the chefs pork dumplings and the tako carpaccio right away, and followed it up with three or four delicious rolls of sushi - each with their own signature taste and texture. The chefs on the other side of the counter offered great recommendations and general conversation without missing a beat on preparing the next dish in front of them. 10/10, fantastic experience. BlueFin will become part of our regularly scheduled rotation.

I love their honey crisp salad. The raw oysters are always super fresh, and the pork dumplings are also to die for. I also had hamachi kama, sashimi fatty tuna then, sushi salmon, and various sushi rolls. They were all very beautifully presented and extraordinary! The wasabi, soy sauce, and ginger were very fresh as well. The service was excellent, and I had a great time!

I always get take out. Food is great quality and the staff are very friendly. I highly recommend the tuna sundae, like a refreshing flavor explosion!

This review is specifically only for the to-go order. First off, let's talk price. The toro sashimi appetizer, Hamachi, and Howie's roll was a whopping total $62.38. So, if you're on a tight budget, this might not be your go-to spot. But onto the taste--the Hamachi came in a generous portion, albeit a tad burnt. The Howie's roll, with blue fin fish (fun fact, apparently even Japan ships blue fin from NJ), was amazing and so tasty with its flavors packed into eight pieces, although the size was a bit on the narrower side. Okok but we can't forget about the best dish which was the toro sashimi. Perfectly cut and melting on the tongue, it was just perfection. The best part was, they gave us a bag of ice for the sashimi so you know they're very conscious of the quality for to-go orders. A quick note: Make sure to double-check the hours, as the dining room and takeout have different operating hours. If you're planning to visit on a Friday, note that the dining room doesn't open until 6:30 pm. Also, reservations are a must, especially considering their popularity--I learned the hard way as they were fully booked for the day (had a note posted on their door).

This review is solely about my first impression of the restaurant. I didn't get to eat here tonight as apparently it's reservation only on Saturday night, but the wording of the sign on their door is confusing--it's says "dining room open from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, reservations full." We walked in and the restaurant smells fishy. The female hostess' reaction is borderline rude. She simply said "Did you see the sign?" Yes, we did and read twice before entering; it's not our fault that the sign didn't say "reservations only, no walk-in". Anyway, I find it a bit strange for a strip mall restaurant to be like this, but I guess they must be doing super well--good for them. Just wish they could have made this reservation only thing clear online.

Fresh and tasty. It's worth trying it once. We weren't all full when it was done. Including tip for 4 people was $600. Tad too much for leaving with could have more feeling. Good thing it was BYOB.

Still my all time favorite sushi place. This time we let head chef Yong Kim choose for us as we sat at the bar. We have no allergies and eat pretty much anything. That made for a very exciting time never knowing what was coming out next. The oysters were incredibly cold and crisp. The dipping sauce for the shrimp and lobster was amazing. The tuna sundae was strips of tuna rather than chunks and melted in your mouth along with some pistachio nuts to add crunch. The sea bass was quite delicious and the pepper relish was the perfect touch. The sashimi was outstanding and had wasabi in the rice. The belly of the tuna was truly special. The lobster and scallop hand roll was good but probably not as enjoyable as the other dishes. It was my first time having wagu beef and it lived up to the hype. We ended with our fruit plate. An amazing meal that was so creative and fun. Yong Kim was really friendly and runs an amazing business.

My friends have told me to experience this place. It was good but my wife made a big mistake. She asked the waiter what is good here. Then the waiter said I will take care of you. I told myself there goes my money. Yeah, the waiter gave us the e most expensive sushi. We had a party of five and the bill came out to be over $300. Never will go there again. We should have ordered some rolls and saved some money and also filled our tummies.

3 years later from my original review, and this place is still the hands down best sushi in the burb! Chef Yong Kim knows what he is doing! We like sitting at sushi bar and doing the Omakase, but truly you can't go wrong with anything you order.

Food was ok. Ambiance was ok. Server was new, so that was ok. BYOB... Don't be disappointed when you want a cocktail like we were.

Best sushi in Chester County. Blessed to have a location right in our backyard. Go, you will not regret it.

My first time here for date night was great! My sister actually suggested we try this place because she had a good experience here as well with her fiancé. Everyone was super welcoming and friendly as soon as you walk inside. I know we had a table reserved for us that night but it was busy and they asked if we wanted to sit at the sushi bar and we agreed. I love sitting there while they make the foods though. I will definitely come back even if it's just me.

Have not been back here in a year or so and while some of the items we liked (fried oysters) are gone, we are delighted by the new creations. Every specialty rolls were delicious with well balanced and diverse flavors. We especially enjoyed the spicy scallop hand roll, the Tako carpaccio, BNB and the New Alaskan roll. Will certainly be coming back for more of the chef's specialties!

My second visit to BlueFin left me slightly disappointed compared to my exceptional experience before COVID. Undoubtedly, the food remains outstanding, making it possibly the best sushi restaurant in the Philly suburbs. However, the front hostess exhibited serious issues that affected our visit. When we attempted a walk-in at the beginning of the year, we were met with rudeness. Despite our understanding of the changes due to COVID, the hostess abruptly directed us to read a notice on the door instead of politely informing us of their new reservation policy. Hoping it was an off day for her, we returned with a reservation for three. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the same hostess couldn't initially locate our booking and proceeded to ignore us while engaged in conversation for about 15 minutes. It was an uncomfortable and unprofessional experience. The situation was eventually rectified by a kind gentleman who intervened and seated us. It's baffling and concerning that a front desk staff member could display such behavior without any apparent reason. Whether she's the owner or an employee, her demeanor reflects poorly on the restaurant's service-oriented industry. If not addressed, it could severely impact the restaurant's reputation. I would advise caution if considering a visit to BlueFin to avoid encountering such an unpleasant individual.

My better half is a very picky sushi eater. He will only eat from the kitchen of Yong Kim. We are never disappointed and recently switched to getting take out. Quality of the fish is consistently fresh with umami flavor. We love the innovative dishes with the eye catching presentation. Seek no others, this is in my husband's opinion the best!

Still my favorite sushi restaurant HANDS DOWN! I have been coming here for years and have NEVER been disappointed! Not sure if this is the healthiest budgeting wise, but I have made coming here a weekly thing just recently. Everything is just so fresh and delicious, there really is NO comparing with anywhere else. Our favorite rolls here are the following: Philadelphia Roll w. Tuna, Tropic Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll w. Crunchies + a lot of the time we love venturing out + trying the Chefs Special Roll because they just never disappoint. For apps, we always love to start with the Tuna Sundae + either the Lobster OR Shrimp Spring Rolls (absolutely delicious). If you haven't tried Bluefin, do yourself a favor and go. You'll find yourself craving this spot every time you think of sushi!

Some of the Best Sushi I've Ever Had We ordered about $250 worth of sushi for a family birthday celebration. I have to say that this is some of the best sushi I've ever had. Everything was so fresh and the combinations put into the special rolls are superb. You can tell the chef is crazy talented and just know how to blend things together. For $250, we pretty much had a bit of everything and there wasn't one single dish that I did not enjoy. I'm confident in saying that their entire menu is probably that good. It's definitely on the pricier side but if you're going to splurge for a special occasion, this has to be my go to sushi place now.

This is the far western suburbs of Philly. So, to find a sushi restaurant with such wonderful quality and attention to detail, is refreshing. I have been going for a good amount of years and the quality has never waned. I highly recommend Bluefin to everyone nearby!

Best sushi ever! It's my favorite. Start with the spicy tuna sundae and wasabi shumai. Love that it's a byo. Service has always been great. Its at a shopping strip but once you enter the restaurant you feel like you're in a cool metropolitan restaurant.

I've been eyeing this place before COVID as its been recommended by my coworkers as the best sashimi/sushi they've had in the area. Before I knew it, they were closed for dine in, but avail not... they have takeout! Originally, we wanted come here to try their omakase but that is out of the question until they reopen dine in. We gave in and ended up ordering a bunch of sushi/sashimi and oh man, their presentation is on point. When we brought it home, we didnt need to re-plate and it was picture perfect already. In terms of the actual dishes, their toro appetizer is amazing. Fresh and delicious fatty tuna. Their davichi roll was full chunks of FRESH tuna used for spicy tuna rather then the left over minced tuna with excess filler of tempura other restaurants have. The tornetta roll had avocado that was so perfectly ripe, its like an avocado cream that melts in your mouth. The second time we ordered we got similar things + howie's roll, which had sea bass ontop. There was a slight fishy aftertaste, but aside from that the roll was spot on. New alaskan roll was average. A bit similar to a california in terms of crab + avocado + cucumber but better given real crab vs imitation and all the extra toppings e.g. Salmon, tempura flakes, spicy mayo. I personally have found bluefin's tuna dishes to be better than their salmon, which is a rare find in the states in my opinion. I guess their restaurant name doesnt lie.

Yea it's a good sushi place but the price is high and it doesn't justify the quality/portion of food. Will not return.

This place knocked our socks off! Unpretentious restaurant in a strip mall not far from where my sister-in-law and brother-in-law live. They have raved about this place for a while, and we finally managed to join them for a Friday night sushi extravaganza. Their menu is chock-full of goodies and given our ravenous state, the 4 of us wanted to order everything. We scaled back and ordered hot appetizers, sushi pieces, and rolls to split. The rock shrimp "sundae" (served in a martini glass) was the perfect way to begin the evening. The special sushi roll of the night was a whopping $50, but worth it, no joke! It was topped with gold leaf (hence the price hike) along with layers and layers of buttery fish. It was a splurge and we loved every second of it. The toro was melt-in-your mouth divine, and even the fruit we were presented with at the end of our meal was sensational. The cantaloupe tasted as if it was grown out back (it wasn't). Service is a bit harried, but that works to your benefit if you want to take your time and enjoy not only your meal, but also your company. Reservations are a good idea, too. This joint was packed! BYOB and eons of parking out front in the lot. I only wish this restaurant was closer to where we live. Two thumbs up!

Coming from Miami did not Expect to eat sushi but dam, One solid meal. Had a house salad, the Toro sampler and two surprise rolls. They even brought me a small plate with two strawberry, a slice of a pineapple and one piece of deep fried banana. Bam!

First of all, I'm shocked that I haven't written a review for Blue Fin before (in fact, I'm convinced it just disappeared) -- this is our absolute favorite date night location. Let's start off with the obvious reasons we love it. Great food and it's a BYOB - one of our favorite combinations. Plus, we don't have to work our way into the city to enjoy a night out here - it's conveniently located in the strip mall where Dekalb Pike meets Germantown. The food here is always fresh - our favorite app is the Toro Sashimi. It's an easy pick for us, hands down. We have a much harder time selecting which rolls we want because they're all so good in their own rights. We just try to switch it up/try something new each time. We usually pick one of the three No Name rolls and then add on from there, but honestly, you can't go wrong. Our favorite experiences there have been sitting at the sushi bar/counter and interacting with the chefs. They're so friendly and are always willing to make suggestions as to what we should try this time around. On top of all of this, they also have great lunch specials - I have gone on quite a few business lunches here and always enjoyed my meals. If you are in the area, and by area, I mean like within 30 minutes, go here (or maybe try another of their new locations, we haven't yet, but would if the opportunity came up). Simply put it's just sooooo good. So good.

We were sitting at the sushi bar. After our plates were removed and sitting waiting for our check, we noticed a white worm that appeared to be a maggot on the table surface. I can only imagine that it crawled off of my wife's tuna salad plate. We were totally upset and felt gross during our drive home. Never going back there. We paid our bill and got out of there as fast as we could. It was not scam on our part to get free food.

This is my all time favorite sushi place. Here are a couple things that will change your life: Tuna Sunday Oyster Mushroom Roll Grilled Prawns The personality, passion for food, and hospitality you will get at Bluefin will spoil you forever.

The sushi here was absolutely delicious! It was very fresh (important for sushi) and tender, done right! The ginger salad dressing was incredible too. There is a large open kitchen which is pretty cool and entertaining if you sit at the sushi bar. The kitchen was very clean...always to good to know when dining out!! This restaurant is located in a strip mall next to a larger shopping center so there is plenty of parking. The decor was in the typical minimalist style common of contemporary Japanese sushi restaurants; however there is some great artwork along the wall beside the open kitchen leading to the bathrooms, which added a fun pop of color. It's a BYOB, so bring your favorite saké (or rosé if you're like me ;)). The only negative was that my clothing and hair smelled like tempura when I left, which indicates to me that the ventilation system isn't all that good. So the moral to this story: don't wear your favorite brand new outfit!

Have heard so many good things about BlueFin and they for sure lived up to their name!!! Came with my girlfriends - split a bunch of apps and sushi - the drunken scallops and wagyu gyoza were AMAZING! The oysters were yummy and all of the sashimi and sushi rolls were super fresh and delicious! The MVP role may have been my favorite but everything was awesome! The service is great! Everyone is super friendly! Can't wait to go back! Also, the fact that it's BYO is awesome! The servers also are on top of it with making sure they put the bottles on ice right away!

Always amazing in every way! I LOVE this restaurant I have eaten at the East Norriton and Exton locations many times and highly recommend both. Make sure to make reservations.

Couldn't be more pleased with our dinner experience last night! I've heard rave reviews for years from my coworkers, but because I live 20 minutes away I've never gotten over here for dinner. They were right though, this place is amazing. The servers were very friendly throughout our visit and regularly came over to refill my wife's water. We brought wine and they asked right away if we'd like an ice bucket for it. They also accommodated my wife's request for no fish eggs on the rolls without question. All positives. The food is what put this place over the top though. We both started with the house ginger salad which is always good. Then we ordered the scallop and lobster tempura. We got two piece of eggplant, two scallops, and two lobster claws that were broken into four parts (2 arms & 2 claws). All fried in tempura and bathing is what I think was a miso sauce. It was delicious. But the sushi was exceptional. We got three rolls to share. The MVP, the New Rainbow, and the Joffe (I'm assuming named after a family I know). Each roll was outstanding. Melt in your mouth good. You could taste every ingredient. The Joffe stole the show tho. That was probably one of my favorite rolls of all time. It's spicy tuna and shrimp tempura topped with avocado. So good we ordered another after we finished our platter of rolls. This place lived up to the hype. Really can't wait to go back. My wife is already asking me when I'm going to grab takeout here on my way home from work. I may have to soon.

Great sushi that is always fresh. It is a little more on the expensive side, but it's worth the splurge!

There's tiers in the sushi industry. It goes from gas station sushi to grocery store sushi to take out sushi to this... Bluefin! ... And yes it keeps going to $$$ omakase in Seattle to $$$$$$ dollar omakase in Japan to having Jiro as your private chef but let's be honest, ain't nobody got that many dollar signs. The quality of ingredients is very solid for the price. And the service was top notch... staff was helpful and friendly, and our party of 7 were impressed at the way they were able to refill our waters from all sorts of challenging angles. My dumpling soup only came with 2 dumplings, but the broth was nice and light, and was filled with lots of seaweed and veggie. I got the Davitch special, as recommended by my foodie coworker. Fresh fish rolled on the inside, crunchy tempura flakes on the outside... delicious. Most others got a lunch special combination, and murmurs of praise for their meals were heard all around. Wasabi was suspected to be the not-out-of-tube-or-powder kind... bonus points for authenticity? A fruity surprise waited for us at the end... cut up cantelope paired with honey fried banana bites. A sweet finish indeed!

Legitimately the best sushi I've had in my life. The fish is unbelievably fresh, the taste is extraordinary, and the service is delightful.

I really wanted to love this place. Everyone always raves about how awesome this place is. I came here a couple months ago for lunch and didn't think the food was bad. So, my husband and I decided to come here for dinner. I called around 5ish to make a reservation and I can already tell that they were really busy. We ended getting to the restaurant a little later since the weather was bad but we make sure we called to let them know. I am not sure if that was the reason but when we got there, we did not get sat right away and waited about 10-15 min. No biggie, they were really busy. After we got sat, it took a while to get our menus and water. Once again, no biggie since they're busy. After we got a menu from one of the servers, another server comes and tries to take our order....which we were not ready for. The same server eventually comes and takes our order and he was very pleasant. The lady who works in the front of the house is super intense. I understand she was doing a million things but...I wish she said "excuse me" before trying to put the plate down. She literally just reorganized all our glass to put the plate down without saying a word. Now, moving on to my food. We ordered 2 rolls and they were both disappointing, to say the least. I don't know what they were thinking but they put SO MUCH tempura flakes on top of my rolls, all I was tasting was tempura flakes...which are FLAVORLESS. I had to scrape off ALL THE TEMPRA FLAKES off the rolls. If the chef did not put that much on those rolls, then maybe it would have been good. In the middle of dinner, my husband asked which dish I liked the most and I said "the wasabi". The California Uni was not good either. It wasn't the worst uni I had before...but def not the best. I am willing to try this place one more time and hopefully, I can update my review.

This place is a hidden gem within a strip mall. It's not at all what I expected. From the outside you would never be able to tell that the inside looks like a swanky modern restaurant. The ambiance is great for a nice dinner out. I was very impressed by the staff--they were all very friendly and super attentive. We had a million questions about the menu, and the waiter was very patient and had great suggestions. We started off with the Spicy Tuna Sundae, which is basically a deconstructed spicy tuna roll without rice in a martini glass. It was amazing! Then we ordered Sashimi Dinner which comes with 6 different types of sashimi--it literally melted in my mouth. The quality is unreal and definitely competes with upscale sushi restaurants. Additionally, we ordered a Howie roll, which... I think you see the pattern here.. was also divine. Needless to say that I will be going back. It's an excellent spot and I highly recommend it.

Best sushi. Best service. Best place. They were hustling and bustling, even on a Sunday night! Even with packed tables, the chefs and wait staff all came together to deliver a great night. Every roll we had was fantastic. The fish was perfect from the spicy tuna to the smoked salmon.

Bluefin has the freshest, highest-quality sushi + fish in the area. While it may be pricy, the price certainly reflects the quality of ingredients. Bluefin's exterior may fool you. Embedded into a strip mall, the inside has a more upscale, swanky feel to it (but not toooo swanky). Diners can eat at one of the many tables, or dine at the sushi bar. It's always super crowded on a weekend night. On my last trip to Bluefin, here's some of what was ordered: SPICY TUNA SUNDAE // At our table of 8, 7 spicy tuna sundaes were ordered (and one in our party doesn't eat sushi). That's how good it is - it is everyone's favorite. A martini glass is layered with slices of fresh avocado, strips of fresh from the sea ahi tuna, a large serving of roe for pops of flavor in each bite, drizzles of spicy mayo, and a few crushed nuts for the perfect crunch. It's one of those dishes that makes you lick around the glass when you're finished. SALMON SUSHI // I'm a salmon lover, so I always love to sample it at different places. This one was phenomenal. The sumptuous pieces of salmon were buttery & just fell apart when they hit your mouth. The best I've had in a while. ALASKA ROLL // A 6-piece roll with that luxurious salmon and fresh & creamy avocado. With such a simple roll, it's important that the ingredients are on point, and this did not disappoint. SASHIMI PLATTER // The platter comes with 5-6 types of the fresh fish. My dad orders it every time and always loves it. The fish is always of the highest quality. CHICKEN TERIYAKI // Different than your typical chicky ter, this is served as a whole chicken breast in a balsamic teriyaki dressing, on top of seasonal vegetables. I didn't get to try the chicken, but my cousin (who is picky eater!) really enjoyed it. The seasonal vegetables - in this case, cauliflower/broccoli + chinese broccoli - were well seasoned and tasty in the sauce. It's also served with miso lobster mac & cheese, and I don't even need to explain what makes that good. The rest of the group ordered various sushi, sashimi, and rolls, and everyone highly enjoyed their meals! At the end of the meal, a lite dessert is brought for each diner - a piece of melon + and a piece of tempura fried banana drizzled in a honey sauce. The melon is always sweet, and the bananas are next level. The banana is soft on the inside, and the outer tempura layer gives a sweet crunch. Beware, they're hot! Will I be back? Yes. This is a great spot for a celebration, or when you're willing to splurge on some straight from the sea, probably still flippin' around, sushi!

Delicious fresh fish, but pricey. Lunch (Just a special) was $15.95 - so $20 after tax and tip with no beverage. 5 pieces of nigiri and a delightful spicy tuna roll. The sushi chef (there were 3 or 4 when I went at lunchtime) was de-scaling a huge and beautiful snapper. Wow. I still wanted more - LOL. Friendly server and dark, but elegant digs. A strange smell when we entered though - not awful or I would have left. Meanwhile, I can't afford to have lunch here on a regular basis. The full/dinner menu looks amazing - so maybe I will try a dinner here.
