Bluefins

I was expecting an average American style Japanese food but it turned out very impressive. The dishes are innovative but still includes the best part of Asian food. Big props to the chef!

This place is absolutely amazing! In fact, I am editing my review because we came BACK again a couple of days after the first visit! The crispy rice with tuna was EXCELLENT, as were the pork belly lettuce bowls. We also tried the shrimp dumplings, which were delicious! The service was great and the drinks were really creative and GOOD. And as a bonus, the aesthetic was EVERYTHING! The restaurant appearance is simple but very pretty, and the food is plated beautifully. Also, the service left NOTHING to be desired! Attentive, warm and joyful servers from start to finish, and consistent service each time (BIG shout out to Martin and Hailey, because they were awesome!). This place checks all the boxes, EASILY, if you are looking for delicious and visually inviting food, great service and warm and beautiful ambiance. And if that isn't enough, the price point is quite reasonable. If you are in Falmouth, Bluefins is a MUST! You won't be disappointed.

Had a phenomenal dinner tonight! The food was excellent - favorite was the seared tuna with wasabi ginger sauce - incredible, summer succotash was delightful, chocolate mousse dessert was perfection. Even more impressive was our waitress Melanie!!!!!!! Best waitress I can ever remember having at any restaurant. She had so many great tips about everything from the menu to local spots. Thank you Melanie!!!! We will be back!

Our group of 5 had a pleasant time at Bluefin! They were able to accommodate a reservation made the night of, that we appreciated. The wait was a bit long to get our food, almost an hour after ordering. We got the following sushi rolls: - Eel and cucumber roll - Spicy salmon roll - California roll - Bluefin roll - Dragon roll - Alaskan roll - Shrimp tempura roll Of all the rolls, our favorites were the Bluefin, Dragon, and Alaskan rolls. The fish was generous on the rolls and the balance of flavors/components was very good, speaking from someone who eats sushi/poke regularly and has been to Japan and Hawaii. Overall, food was quite good and while the wait was long, I think we shall be back!

We really enjoyed our dinner here. The poke bowl was so flavorful and amazing. The volcano roll was creamy, delicious and a tad rich... Perfect for sharing. The Roll 513 was fresh and delicious. I would return there for any of the items we had in a heart beat. The angry dragon had the perfect crunch from the shrimp tempura. The short ribs were flavorful too. The service was awesome too. Highly recommend!

Friendly, attentive staff and sparkling modern atmosphere, but in the end it is the food that counts. The edamame was steaming warm and the sea salt made it lively but I can have them at home. The Bluefin Roll which included spicy tuna, was too sweet bordering on desert, and the size of each slice, too big to be eaten in a mouthful - I almost choked twice. My dinner companion raved about her wild Cape Cod mussels which looked big and plump. It came with a roti style bread on the side. Not convinced I need to go back.

Short visit to the area and this restaurant really surprised us .. Food and service were great.. Our server had great recommendations. Korean ribs were tasty and fell off the bone.. We come from the pacific north west so we are spoiled with great sushi and sushi rolls . I had the angry dragon and it was very good.. try the matcha mochi! I recommend this place!

Place was excellent. Our server Dan was polite and humorous. He had plenty knowledge of the menu and highlighted some options for us aswell. Very attentive service and super tasty food. Awesome spot right there on the main street of Falmouth.

The atmosphere is outstanding The service again outstanding The food was absolutely delicious And a special shout out to Martin, the bartender/waiter That remembered my wife and I from the first time we came in in February and kindly explained to us that we could not sit at the bar without a reservation, but when I said we were just stopping in for one drink, he welcomed us, my wife, my brother and his wife sat down, had a drink. Again service was great. When my wife and I returned. Five months later, Martin remembered who we were and where we sat. How many places can you go to and get that? Highly recommend this restaurant you can't go wrong

If you are a sushi fan, this is the place for you. If you like sushi but your significant other doesn't, this place will work well too. The sushi is incredibly fresh, the ambience is elegant, and the place is very welcoming. Not only that but they make a mean cucumber martini

The worst sushi we ever had. It was a to go order so we are thinking that they just put crappy tuna with mayo instead of fresh tuna. Also much too much rice. We actually threw away 40.00 dollars worth of food that we wouldn't feed to our least favorite person. I say don't bother ordering takeout. They more likely make the eat in sushi edible. Trust me save yourself some money.

My new favorite restaurant. Amazing sushi and appetizers. The Red Sox roll and curry coconut shrimp are to die for. The seafood is fresh and melts in your mouth. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of their menu.

Loved Bluefins! Came here for a quick drink and sushi roll :) I ordered the Sancerre which paired well with the Cape Cod Monster. The roll itself was full of flavor and tasted fresh! Dylan was a great bartender!! Very friendly, made sure we were doing good the whole time there. Hoping to come back during our stay in Falmouth!

Made a reservation here because I'd heard such good things. The service was not great, but we were seated in the bar area so that's not unexpected. Unfortunately the food was not good--incredibly overpriced for what we received. The ribs were spoken about online many times with glowing reviews and they were overcooked and dry, not to mention 5 small ribs were $22. Brussels sprouts were truly awful. Not worth the price imo!

I wasn't able to reserve seafood fresh places in advance too far and being one person, I can sometimes get lucky. Not today though but I do love sushi too and went for this place. Food options were nice. I like that they tried to mix it up with sweet potato strings. Some may think this to be trying too hard and I thought it to be nice. The sushi was fine but nothing wowed me. It is Cape Cod prices in a nice area but I feel like I could have similar enough raw fish sushi in other areas. I considered getting a crab roll but none of the combinations got my attention enough except for the classicly named volcano. However, it also had "crab surigami" which my waiter told me was imitation crab before I ordered and since I had asked. I don't hate the taste of imitation crab but it isn't particularly healthy for me- so I might as well have the real thing. The restaurant has a modern look. The space is typically too tight and open where the diners can see the sushi chefs. Not a lot of space between myself and fellow patrons at the sushi bar potentially. This place also offers non-sushi for others which is nice. Looks like they do a good job on this.

Best sushi in area. By far. Can't get it any fresher. Fantastic and friendly service. Fun drinks. Killer chocolate mousse

Without a doubt, the best sushi in Falmouth and comparable to fine sushi restaurants throughout the East Coast. Not inexpensive!

Sushi was excellent and very reasonably priced. The menu is pretty big. Staff is kind and extremely efficient. The vibe of the restaurant was fun and classy. Had a great time.

Absolutely pleasant place to take your beloved or have friends time. Amazing food service, sushi fresh and delicious every time. Delicious desserts specially chocolate mousse so creamy and so chocolaty. The atmosphere is pleasant with the blue light under the bar and the restaurant self.

This is our second go around to Bluefins and it was just as good as the first time. Food, service, and ambiance all a 5. The curry coconut shrimp is absolutely delicious. I could not wait to have this dish again. Currently, this dish has made it to my top five dishes of all time. It is tasty and the texture of the shrimp was perfect. All the dishes are plated so creatively. The teriyaki chicken dish and tornado sushi roll was yummy as well. The scallop dish was creative and delicious, however, the relish was a little too spicy and did not complement the scallops well. A good try on that special though. Bluefins will be a must go to every time I visit Cape Cod. Enjoy guys! ~Nini :)

You need to check out bluefins if you're in the area. It's among many many many different restaurants. Bluefins is the one that has a modern vibe, a great weight staff, and one where all of the entrées all of the sushi and all of the appetizers just perfect. Over a four-day visit to Falmouth for a quick vacation, we tried the asparagus fingers, the beet salad, the asparagus rolls, the three A rolls, the pad Thai, and the Hawaiian rolls. Every single piece was exceptional. I even wrote to the restaurant the next day asking them for a list of the ingredients in the pad Thai. Something about it was just a bit different and I couldn't put my finger on it, so won't be able to re-create it at home if they don't answer me. Check it out you don't wanna miss this one. Sorry I don't have any pictures, the food didn't last long.

Stumbled upon Bluefins- looked up the reviews and I can clearly see why they are so highly rated. Service at the bar was top notch. Scallion pancakes and 513 roll was so delish and martinis were perfect. Highly recommend.

One of the best sushi places I have eaten at. Everyone loved their food, my niece loves sushi but was not in the mood so she got a burger she said it was fantastic. We were all celebrating a birthday the waiter brought a small carrot cake for the birthday girl, the cake was awesome. The service was top-notch. The restaurant had a nice vibe, it was packed yet you did not have to yell to hear the conversation at your table. The best restaurant we went to on vacation.

Very pricey but yummy food. Wish they hadn't shrunk the menu but still a great variety of sushi!

We literally ordered SO much but we're starving so I forgot to take pictures. Both sets of grandparents arrived in the Cape and I ordered in. Called around 5 to have a pick up for 7:30. Unfortunately they were VERY behind but they still get 5 stars. Let me tell you why. The manager/owner was incredibly apologetic. The food was hot and delicious and beautiful. Restaurants can't time things perfectly. It's almost an impossibility if you really think about it. Plus we ordered for like 100 people. ESPECIALLY now when restaurants specifically are struggling to find staff. We were just grateful they were so kind about it and acknowledged how we COULD have been frustrated. That in itself makes a huge difference - amiright?! Guys - the food was fantastic. I bet even better when dining in. Highly recommend.

Food is so fresh and delicious! Some very creative menu items you will crave again and again. It is also nice to know your ingredients are fresh every time. My must have is the mussels in the coconut curry sauce which is a must share to save room for the next choice. The traditional sushi rolls are always fresh! I am working my way through the menu. It is hard to pick a favorite. Service is always friendly and helpful. They time the food perfectly too. Dan is the best! Be sure to make a reservation both the manager and front end staff are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. They keep making cool upgrades to their look. They pay attention to details!

This is an excellent restaurant. Absolutely everything we tried was perfect. We had the chicken meatballs, the edamame w black truffle pepper and Thai shrimp appetizers. We also had the surf and turf sushi, the angry dragon and tornado sushi. Everything was awesome. Staff is wonderful as well. Dan was a fantastic waiter who really knows his sushi!

Outstanding service & food. The manager is a gentleman that does an amazing job arranging reservations. The Waite staff is friendly, extremely knowledgeable regarding the menu options and make experienced recommendations. The bar staff is fun & friendly. One of Falmouth's best dining experiences. Highly recommended!!

Love this place, but it's not great for a date, because it's really loud. Can't have a conversation. Sashimi is excellent. Always disappointed by the bill, but it IS the CAPE cod, so...

Came here on a Friday night in early April and the restaurant was very busy when we arrived at 8pm. Service was slow at first but that did not matter because the server was friendly and the food was excellent. I had their version of gnocchi and it was mind blowingly delicious - easily one of the best things I've eaten in recent years. I cannot wait to return and eat that dish again. I followed with one of their cooked sushi rolls which was good but did not surpass the gnocchi. My dining partner had chicken teriyaki which came with a beautiful and generous portion of a vegetable medley! We love vegetables! Overall, a great experience here and I highly recommend the restaurant.

Make reservations. Food, sushi rolls and the steak special (yes steak) were perfect. Service was spot on. We went back the second night for hors-d'oeiuvre's and a drink.

We tried Bluefins in Falmouth based on a Boston friend's recommendation, and she knows her sushi!! Utterly delighted we tried Bluefins, and loved it so much we already returned twice. THE RESERVATION: A+ Special shout-out to the host (was it Ron, sorry I forget) who is KIND, FRIENDLY, WELCOMING and his energy literally lifts every single human who walks into the restaurant. He is pleasant on the phone, warmer in person, and made a significant impression on both my husband and me. Remember when dining was an experience and you felt welcomed? You can still have that in Falmouth at Bluefins! THE AMBIENCE: A Clean, cozy and great vibe. THE FOOD: A+ We ordered a LOT of food each time, and changed up what we tried. The asparagus tempura was unique & delicious, the tuna tartar fresh as can be and great; the maki rolls were fresh, flavorful-- and LARGE portions. THE SERVICE: A+ First time we sat at bar, second time we sat at the sushi bar. Each case the server was friendly, attentive, warm, caring, and pleasant. You couldn't ask for a better experience. I highly encourage you to try Bluefins and you will enjoy yourself!!

My boyfriend and I's absolute FAVORITE restaurant. The food here is undoubtedly some of the best sushi I've ever had and the rest of the menu is delicious too! The service is so lovely and feels like home. I love coming here, it is a staple and I'm so lucky to live nearby!

This is clearly the best combination of food quality and overall experience anywhere on the Cape. My wife looks at this place as the only "destination" as far as restaurants go. So for our anniversary I called to get a reservation (granted with minimal notice, so was expecting a sad result). But Rob is the most attentive, committed GM you could ever hope to deal with! We were able to get a beautiful table overlooking bustling Main Street! And as someone who has always preferred their fish cooked, I am a convert now. The house-named "Bluefin" rolls are one of the best thing a I have ever consumed. The taste of two different kinds of delectable tuna, plus rice and mango, is just beyond the imagination- almost obscenely good. And my wife wanted to leave me for the mussels (in a curry sauce that she wish she could have finished with a straw). I have never seen her more satiated and satisfied! The drinks are unique (and strong) and the wait staff is top notch. Every time we go we get an A-level server. If you go, you will become a regular! There is no other option!

First time visiting Bluefins for our Anniversary. We sat at a table by the window which is always fun! The atmosphere was quite pleasant and there is a large bar and also seats at the sushi bar. The sushi was very good. My only complaint is that the pour on the glass of wine was very short for the price. Next time I will do take out!

Great spot.....service is second to none .....from the moment you walk in the door Ron the host does his best to seat you. He's a class act for sure. Sat at the bar with wife, bartender was courteous and efficient....had saki and beer but I saw him make some nice looking drinks. Sushi and appetizers are very fresh and wonderfully prepared. We ordered octopus ceviche and tuna poke for apps and couple specialty rolls .....highly recommend if you are looking for quality sushi which is hard to find.

This might be the best sushi I have ever had, and I don't say that lightly. It is beyond fresh, the quality of fish is outstanding, and their creative rolls are these imaginative & delicious combinations that will just about knock your socks off. Try the Bluefin Roll, I promise you won't be sorry. They are super popular and tend to be really busy (plan to wait an hour plus for your takeout order), but the staff is friendly and efficient and the food and experience are more than worth your wait.

The selection and quality of sushi was excellent. We tried a variety and they were all delicious, especially the surf and turf and the Falmouth roll. The rolls were generously proportioned and the presentation was terrific. Ken was our waiter and was very attentive. Would highly recommend this place.

Went here on Saturday night date night with friends of ours and had an exceptional meal. Reservations are accepted which is a plus. The service was a tad slow but nothing crazy. My wife ordered the short rib pad Thai which gets 5 stars an I had the tuna poke bowl which was on the starters menu. I asked if they could make it an entree, but was told that it was meal size. It was an appetizer size. Thankfully, my wife's meal was rather large and I was able to get her "leftovers". All that being said, we had a great meal and quality time with friends. We certainly will come back.

Such. Great place, best sushi I have found here in Falmouth. We love any of the rolls, the ribs for an appetizer are delicious and the entrees are all exceptional.

I would recommend their Sushi but stay away from their entree's, they are a rip-off! High priced and not a good value, go somewhere else if Sushi isn't your main attraction!

My partner and I were in Falmouth for just one night and needed dinner. We walked up and down Main Street checking out the various restaurants. Bluefins looked quite appealing to us, the atmosphere appeared cozy, romantic and upscale, and it was pretty full. From the moment we walked through the front door, we were well taken care of. Oh and the food was excellent. The sushi bar looked delicious, and the variety of rolls super impressive. We were in the mood for hot food though, and ordered two Japanese entrees. The chicken teriyaki was delicious, but the sesame crusted seared tuna was extraordinary. From my perspective most of the other tables were couples on dates or a special night out. I highly recommend Bluefins!

Meh. Very chic atmosphere (great for dates or business meetings) but sushi was room temp and underwhelming.

Great restaurant little pricey, but you get what you pay for. It's well worth the visit I'll go back.

Visiting the cape and needed a break from the lobster and chowder overload and craved really excellent sushi. So glad to find this place. It was beyond amazing and I lowkey wish I lived nearby just to have this restaurant in my back pocket. Started with the red curry mussels which were amazing. Then we had the surf n turf roll and roll513. I would travel for five hours again just to get that surf n turf roll again. Dan, our waiter, was the icing on the cake. Very nice and attentive and excellent recommendations on drinks and dessert selections. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Absolute delight from food to service, from cleanliness to safety precautions related to COVID-19. This seared octopus tasted like butter! Everything is superb and comforting. We will be back!

A couple of locals told me about this place. Said I should try. My first time last night. It was good. My appetizers were the best ("Noki" & the asparagus fries) the curry shrimp on skewers way toooo salty. Both my dinner partner and I had one and that was it. The waiter/bartender never asked us why we didn't finish most of the dish. I asked for Unagi Nigiri and got something totally different. When I looked at it and called the bartender over (since we sat at the bar) he said "what's up". Like really? Not a proper way to answer. They did correct it and was good. I got the bill, and wow. They up-charge you for a martini? And the glass wasn't even full. $14 base, then an additional $3 because it's a martini. $17 for an ok drink without blue cheese stuffed olives. First and last time here.

Loved the vibe, would call it upscale casual, sushi was amazing, attentive waiter with personality. Will definitely be back.

Fun, upbeat atmosphere. creative and delicious cocktails , loved the cold Sale selection. Poke was truly one of the best I ever had!! The mussels In red curry broth was absolutely delicious, the flavor of this dish had us all dipping into the broth to the last bite! pad Thai was layers of flavor, can not wait to go back. Maura , our server made the evening even more fun with well timed service and recommendations of Sashimi , which was AMAZING...was very much appreciated. For starters, one might call noisy a vibrant atmosphere. I don't. The place needs noise abatement. The tables are very tightly grouped, so those at the next table will definitely overhear your conversation if it's not too noisy! Now to the meal. The beet salad was excellent. I should have stopped there. After I had eaten the appetizer, I waited at least 30 minutes - while I watched the restaurant guests leave - for seared scallops. After asking about my meal twice, the scallops arrived, nicely presented but not seared and VERY undercooked. They were fresh, so I wrote it off as warm sushi! However, the sauce they were in was completely tasteless and the accompanying potatoes and vegetable "compost" was not up to par. As I was now the last diner in the place, I hurried through my dessert, which was tasty. That's about all I can say - you be the judge. It didn't impress me.
