What an awesome breakfast! I haven't been here for years and I'm so glad it's just as good as I remembered. The food is delicious. The service is super friendly. Every time I've gone it's been pretty busy but that's never stopped us from getting good service. They know how to handle the crowd. Great place for breakfast!

We were not blown away with our visit to Bluegrass. The service was great but the food was lack luster. I enjoyed the environment and community vibe as well! We ordered a Mediterranean frittata with grits and crispy potatoes. The frittata was great and super full of veggies and cheese. I did not enjoy the grits at all. We also ordered a special with egg and coffee bacon on a jalapeño bun. It was ok. Overall we just thought the food was mediocre. I left still hungry which is never a goal.

Google
The food was very tasty! I ended up ordering a biscuit to go because I heard they were to die for! I love the atmosphere. It is family style seating but that was great for us as we chatted with the people we sat with.

Google
We were passing thru on our way to SC and searched for best breakfast in Chattanooga and now we understand why Bluegrass Grill is so highly rated. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere and service was warm and welcoming, Stop in when in Chattanooga. You’ll definitely want to come back.

Google
Went for birthday brunch with some coworkers today and it was absolutely wonderful!! I got the blintzes (crepes) “all the way” and home fries. It was delicious! The seasoning on the home fries and the way they were cooked was perfection. The house-made preserves were amazing! I love that the coffee is from a local coffee house. Love the variety of menu items that is sure to meet everyone’s needs. Everything was perfect! I definitely recommend!

Google
5's on everything. Parking costs in this area so just drive until you can find an open spot on the road for free. The waiter was on point. Speedy and friendly. Great food. Prices for individual items allowing you to select exactly what you wanted to eat. Very unique idea: The Bacon Flight! Talk about a great concept. The blitzes were a great idea on the menu too. My hubby loved the biscuits and gravy which had whole wheat four in the. The club was delicious and you can order a half or a whole. Yum yum.

Google
I loved the atmosphere and food at this place! I definitely want to come back and try more dishes. My black bean breakfast burrito was delicious! The cinnamon roll was one of the best cinnamon rolls I have ever tasted!

Yelp
You come in from outside and get right to the wait stand. They came up from the bar top to greet me and said I could sit anywhere. I ended up sitting at the bar top because all of the other seats were full. There are not more than maybe 15 or so areas to sit so it isn't super big. Brisket burnt end sausage was solid. They brought one sausage and it was butterfly down the middle, the taste was super flavorful and had just to write them on a saltiness to get you going as you dig into it. Buttermilk Pancakes from here we're really good and pretty big. It was only two of them but it felt like it was five! Denver omelette what's good. I have no complaints about it. It was cooked very well, and did not fall apart when I tried to get into it lol. Fancy bacon flight: Mixed berry was good, the tart and sweet combo to a science. 1st Thai plum was okay, it has more savory than it needed and was a little overpowered with salty and savory... More than usual bacon. 4th Orange was more salty but the aftertaste was 101% orange. It was pretty sticky so you will have to wipe your hands lol was decent though. Third Ranch was ranch lol it's what you would expect. You have had bacon on a salad so this was akin to that. 2nd I would definitely 100% suggest this place as someplace you stop off if you're needing breakfast or lunch. If you sit at the bar you will get a lot of conversation and they will talk to you and you have a good time as you wait for your food. The menu is pretty vast so you might have to go a couple of times to get a good grass of it but it was a really good experience.

Yelp
Bluegrass Grill wasn't originally on our radar when we visited Chattanooga, but we walked by one day on the way to another place and saw their advertisement for biscuits. We decided we had to try one. Like every breakfast place in the area, Bluegrass Grill was completely packed and super busy inside. People in Chattanooga really seem to love their breakfasts/brunches. We only got one item to go since we had also picked up pastries at another place down the street. Egg & Cheese Biscuit ($4.75) - The first thing I noticed were how small and lightweight the biscuits are here. They are only around 2.5" in diameter, which is definitely on the small side. I ordered the egg over medium and it was done more over easy than medium, with a mostly runny egg yolk that meshed with the American cheese and ran all over the packaging (including on the exterior of the foil which was surprising). The biscuit was very light, delicate, and super fluffy with a very distinct wheat flavor. It's a completely different style of biscuit, one that doesn't really have those super buttery laminated layers. I think overall the biscuit wasn't what I was expecting and wasn't what I wanted in the first place, but it was still executed well and tasted good. Bluegrass Grill seems like another good place in the area to pick up brunch. It's certainly not a bad choice if you're in the area.

Yelp
Good food, service and friendly staff. Would definitely try if looking for a good breakfast.

Yelp
Went for breakfast while on a road trip to Lookout Mountain . Amazing food. Menu and food were so good, we ordered lunch to bring with us. Can't wait until we can stop in again.

Michelle N.

Yelp
Gluten friendly and delicious! Ordered the Wakin' Bacon special and the chef had made some cheddar and jalapeño, gluten free, biscuits for the special. The food was so good.

Ronald G.

Yelp
Food and service was outstanding! Jeremy was helpful and we were served quickly. Thanks for a great visit.

Yelp
Southern breakfast that is affordably priced, served by friendly employees in a homelike environment. It's very cozy so not recommended for large groups, a few tables and 5 barstools. I walked in on a Friday morning around 11am and it was pretty busy, not one empty table but thankfully there was a barstool available. This is a no-frills spot which is okay because they're serving up delicious eats which is what matters most. Street parking and a gravel lot behind the building, both areas were paid parking so if you're staying in the area, I recommend walking. I ordered a vegetable supreme omelet with cheese, each omelet is serviced with two sides, I went carb overload and ordered a biscuit and skillet potatoes. There was no way I was dining here and not trying their biscuit! Now my meal was really good, like eating a home cooked meal, I pretty much cleaned my plate. Biscuit was different but good, not the best I had but pretty good!   If you enjoy a good breakfast and are in the area add this to the list of places to try.
google avatar

Kendra L.

Yelp
All of the food is amazing! The staff is great and works as a team to ensure that you have a great experience. Even if all of the tables are full, they have a pretty good flow to get you in in a reasonable time. I've enjoyed all of my experiences here!

Yelp
I looked up places to eat before we hit the aquarium and decided on this one, and damn I'm glad we went! The host greeted us quickly and was very nice and our waitress was so sweet too. Hell, everyone here was amazing. There was another guy who was so sweet to even our kids. And the food!! They even have a bacon sampler plate with different flavors, one being coffee. They even gave our little 1 year old a little basket of toys to play with! He fell in love with the slinky. Thank you to everyone here for phenomenal service and such delicious food!!

Yelp
Great service, everyone there is friendly. Food is delicious and the atmosphere is cozy. Lots of parking available nearby. My favorite was eating our meal and asking about the seasonings and sauces and them telling us we can purchase them before we left. We bought the potato seasoning and a smoky hot sauce - use it all the time! Highly recommend! They do get busy so plan ahead for a potential wait if you want to go during peak hours. The burrito is my favorite.

Erin F.

Yelp
This place was small, but so worth the wait. Everything we got was delicious. I got a potato dish that was perfectly seasoned, my son loved the grits and other son raved about the cinnamon roll French toast, and hubby was happy with his special breakfast sandwich. Service was friendly, if a bit slow. We highly recommend!

Yelp
Joke.Drove 30 minutes to try this place. Waited 30 minutes for a table, get seated, and, guess what? No frigging biscuits or crepes!! Advertised as "the best biscuits in Tennessee" I wouldnt come back....

He Said She Said ..

Yelp
He Said: the was our second visit, though it seems we didn't leave a review last time. Odd, that. This is a great diner with an amazing staff and a cool vibe. Their breads are excellent, they cook eggs as requested, and the coffee is fantastic. There is usually a wait, but for good reason: they're making great food a short walk from downtown. I had the corned beef hash, again, and really like it. I'd prefer a smaller potato, but that's my only knock. The beef is generously portioned and they don't add a bunch of superfluous stuff. The 5 grain bread toast is so good and works nicely to sop up the runny egg. We'll be back! She Said: I had the P2 which is home fries with cheese, sour cream, and house-made salsa; I chose the bacon option (because bacon!) and added an egg over medium. I had the five grain toast as my side. What a delicious meal! The salsa was absolutely terrific and managed to stand out despite everything going on with my dish. My egg was cooked perfectly, and the bread used for the toast was really tasty. The potatoes were just okay, but they were just a delivery vehicle for everything else, so that didn't bother me. My only disappointment was my tea. The pot in which it was served didn't retain heat well, so my second and third cups were lukewarm rather than hot. That said, I appreciated that the black tea option was a nice English Breakfast tea. We sat at the bar and watched other dishes as they came out, and I want to go back and try the biscuits and gravy which looked pretty spectacular. And if you're into sweet breakfast options, those all looked awesome, too. Delicious food plus friendly and attentive staff means we'll be back when next we're in Chattanooga. Potty Points: No trip to the potty for me today!

Yelp
A Saturday morning gamble while staying at Common House just across the street. A dining Fantasy Five lotto win: great food, great service, great ambiance, even a great diverse clientele and an even greater backstory. When was the last time you ate for a cause? A wonderful eggs Benedict for her and honey wheat pancakes with an egg and sausage for him. Best breakfast in years. Please check the story behind this spot. You'll leave feeling better about America.

Yelp
We love Bluegrass grill! They always have amazing service and they have new food options to choose from often. It's such a cute little hole in the wall and family owned, which we love. Recommend it to anyone looking to support local!

Yelp
Came here for breakfast on a Wednesday morning around 8:15. Cute little cafe with a decent amount of indoor seating. We ordered two cups of coffee which came out hot and in a large mug. Cream and sugar was already on the table. They did a great job of coming around often, offering to refill our cups. We ordered the eggs Benedict on a biscuit with homestyle potatoes and the cinnamon roll French toast. The eggs Benedict was not the best which is why I lowered my review. The eggs were over cooked and did not run :-(. The biscuit was a tish dry as well. The homestyle potatoes were the best part and were very good! The cinnamon roll French toast was very tasty, the bread was a little dense but I enjoyed that! We ordered a side of eggs over easy and unfortunately it never came. I have heard really good things about this place on Yelp so I might try again, however this morning was a little disappointing.
google avatar

Monica E.

Yelp
I came here today on my own for a quick breakfast. When I walked in, it seemed very cozy and welcoming. A small restaurant, but they totally maximized the space with an abundance of tables. I had a seat in the corner as it was seat yourself and that was the only one open. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette. It was tasty and very filling. I also got the cheese grits and biscuit. Delicious. Will definitely come back!
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
Our breakfast from here was just ok. The pancakes were not worth the drive to Chattanooga - we stopped here based on reviews. The eggs Benedict was just ok too. I was irritated by the fact that we rerouted our drive back to Chicago to stop here.
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Service was fantastic! Be aware of a longer wait on a Saturday morning but it's absolutely worth it. Love the family and history too. Will absolutely one back again if we're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
We tried Bluegrass Grill today. I got the Salmon Cake Benedict(on a biscuit, not English muffin) with a side of Home Fries. It was fantastic(minus the biscuit...see below)! We also got a side of one biscuit and gravy...it was bland. The gravy tasted like it was made from a packet, and the biscuit was small, hard, and flavorless, which was disappointing especially since it was $5! The service was awesome and we will give it another shot just in case. It's small so get there early or else you most likely will have to wait. Overall, it was good.

Robyn S.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Friendly little neighborhood restaurant. Staff was supper happy.

Matthew M.

Yelp
Good food, nice staff, not super packed, and pretty decorations, and overall a great experience.

Yelp
I'm so sorry to go against the grain on this one as this place appears to be a Chattanooga institution. Oddly for a Tuesday mid morning, waited outside 45 mins, waited inside after ordering 30 mins, drinks were an easy 15 mins, seemed properly staffed for a tiny place, food and service was great, just SOOOO SLOW.... Don't bring your impatient wife and six year old, all of you visiting from out of town, wanting pancakes and sightseeing, just bring a novel and your iPhone.
google avatar

Molly L.

Yelp
This is an institution in Chattanooga and for good reason! Bluegrass has always been one of my favorite breakfast spots in the city but I had not been in a while. I randomly decided to go yesterday morning and I'm so glad I did. I would highly recommend going on a weekday morning as on the weekends it gets extremely crowded and tends to have long waits. There was even a little bit of a wait on Tuesday morning but it didn't take long! When we sat down our waitress immediately asked us what we wanted to drink and was very efficient. We got the mushroom and cheese omelet with potatoes and a biscuit and an open faced omelet as well. Both were absolutely delicious, I recommend everyone try a biscuit while they're here, they are so good! All in all, if you're visiting Chattanooga I would say Bluegrass should be at the top of your list for the amazing food and friendly service!
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful food made by wonderful people. Joan's breakfast is my favorite. Try the gigantic cinnamon rolls!
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
My absolute favorite breakfast, brunch, lunch spot. I live in Wisconsin. But EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I'm in the area, I stop here. My family and I have eaten here i many occasions and I cannot say enough positive things about it. Everything from the many vegetarian and vegan options on the menu to the amazing granola and really great cup of coffee is worth the drive alone. There are so many options for everyone whether you eat meat or not. My sons especially loved the little toy basket to play with when they were younger and now love to get a huge mug of hot cocoa. They even hunted down the Tigger mug for my son's drink! The place feels comfortable and homey, staff makes you feel so welcomed and I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow remembered us at each visit! I cannot wait to go back! I tell all our friends and family, if they are headed through the area (Disney or Nashville, ATL) they HAVE TO stop! :)
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
This place was so good!! The pancakes were fluffy and sweet and the bacon was thick and crispy. I also had a hot chocolate that was one of the best I had ever had. This place is a local spot and a must while you're in Chattanooga!
google avatar

Yelp
Red potato home fries...yes! Seasoned well, moist, and so delicious! Cinnamon raisin toast...yes! Chewy and packed with a good amount of cinnamon and raisins. However, the entrees we ordered were pretty bland. Fluffy eggs, good hot sauces, cute little place.
google avatar

Kayla P.

Yelp
A great place for a good breakfast. Definitely get the bacon! We both had the 2 egg breakfast plate. The service was the right balance of friendly and helpful. The vibe is also very laidback and eclectic in the best way! Tip: try the hot sauce. They make and even sell their own and for good reason!

Yelp
Traveling heard on Yelp great reviews so it was a must do. OMG atmosphere was local southern Mayberry vibe. Perfect for an enjoyable breakfast. Service was like family. Coffee refills stayed full and my Mediterranean Fritatta was exactly what my palate expected every flavor exploded the goodness. Ever have runny grits NOT HERE! The grits were awesome such a joy to have someone in the kitchen who puts in the LOVE. Headed back a second time before leaving town Bathrooms were clean too! Nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Phenomenal place. Absolutely amazing incredible breakfast spot. I was here November 2019 while traveling through. A fellow yelper that lives in town turned me onto this place. It was a stellar reccomendation. The staff was quirky and cool at the same time. Talked to a few of them. They were very accommodating. The food was absolutely incredible. This is a MUST stop spot if you're in the area. Lorena from Chattanooga turned me onto this fabulous place. Thanks so much for the reccomendation Lorena. Appreciate you. Home made strawberry preserves. Amazing. Bread was great. Bacon pepper jalapeño was awesome.
google avatar

Leslie C.

Yelp
OMG U HAVE TO TRY THE CINNAMON ROLL FRENCH TOAST!! So freaking good!! We also had the club sandwich and the omelette!! So good!! The potatoes were really good as well! Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I stopped by this local Cafe for breakfast. I ordered their Corn Beef Hash with a biscuit. Their implementation is home fries, topped with corn beef, then a light peppering of Swiss cheese and shredded potatoes. The crescendo is a egg cooked how you like it (or went over medium). The corned beef is done right, lightly salted with fresh vegetables (also cubed) cooked along side the beef. I would order it again. The biscuit was my side. They use a combination of whole wheat and processed wheat flours, which results in a smooth yet textured experience.

John L.

Yelp
My family ate at Bluegrass Grill today. If you're in Chattanooga, don't miss this gem. One of the best omelets I've ever had. Service was outstanding, everyone there so friendly. Do it.
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
Saturday morning outing! Crowded! A nice little place, homemade goodness! I had the house made corned beef hash, and it was good, seasoned well, would have liked it crispy, but no complaints at all. The home fries are real good, and the biscuits as a side was food, I think it was whole wheat flour which amped it up! My daughter had the daily burrito special, and really enjoyed it too.

Yelp
During our stay in Chattanooga, we enjoyed a glorious, local breakfast at the Bluegrass Grill. The Bluegrass became our mainstay during the two mornings we spent in the city for breakfast delights. Located in the downtown area of Chattanooga, only a five-minute walk from our Airbnb on East Main Street in the Southside Historic District, Bluegrass produces wonderful biscuits that terrific for breakfast sandwiches. So much so, that I ordered their bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich on both mornings we came for breakfast. It truly magical and good, good and magical, with bacon cooked to perfection that balanced well with the egg scramble and cheese. Additionally, I had on the first morning some of their cheesy grits with bacon, which were magical and delicious, as well as filling to the bone. My lady loved the place because they produce a lot of gluten-free options because she's celiac, and was able to enjoy a nice full breakfast with me -- especially with the cheesy grits. Everyone who served us at the restaurant was very friendly and accommodating, which made our experience great. With social distancing measures in place due to COVID-19, we felt very safe enjoying meals there as the tables were spaced out appropriately. The first day we had breakfast outside in a make-shift patio area in the parking lot next to The Bluegrass, which was quite nice with the weather (that held off raining on us as that was the forecast at the time). The brick-walled interior was quite spacious when we took a table at one of the front corners of the restaurant with a nice street-side window to look outside as we enjoyed day two of breakfast. The Bluegrass will be a spot to which we return for breakfast on our next stay in Chattanooga.
google avatar

Karla U.

Yelp
The cashier lady was super nice, other than that this was the only good thing about this place I ordered a Biscuit with scrambled eggs and cheese it was awful where I come from scrambled means that there is no runny egg in the EGG! It was so runny it ruined the entire thing for me , and I was charged $8.20 cents another disappointing place in downtown Chattanooga!
google avatar

Stuart O.

Yelp
Stopped in for a breakfast on a Friday morning at this little family-owned spot. Server was delightful and Uber-friendly even though we're first timers here. Great coffee, and had pancakes, applewood smoked bacon and sausage. The sausage was a standout. Also had a cinnamon roll that was homemade and fresh. Pro tip - if you don't like thick icing, you can order it plain. Everything was excellent and reasonably priced. We'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious, a must go to. Visiting from Chicago, IL. Yelps reviews never fail me.

Yelp
I stopped at the Bluegrass Grill for some breakfast while on a quick trip in Chattanooga. The food was delicious but my experience wasn't the best just because my group was sat at a very strange table. The restaurant was busy so we were sat at a table way in the back corner of the restaurant. It located between the bathrooms and the back door, which employees were using to get in and out of the building, was the only table in the little room, and was shoved right up against the emergency box that contained the fire extinguisher. The table arrangement was definitely a little strange and I would have gladly waited a little longer for a table in the main part of the restaurant, rather than being secluded in the back, but thankfully the service was still great and we weren't forgotten about. I ordered the Blintzes but also got to try the Corned Beef Hash and the Black Bean Breakfast Burrito. The corned beef hash was delicious and made with real corned beef (not the mushy stuff you get from cans) and the Blintzes were a great, sweet breakfast option! The winner of this meal for me though were the potatoes! They were crispy and beautifully seasoned. I could have eaten a whole plate of them! Would definitely recommend stopping by here, but try to get a table in the front.
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
Omg so worth the wait!! I got the eggs benedict- the biscuit was unlike any I ever had in my life- sooo good. And the sauce- I wanted to lick the plate. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. And my friend got the grits. He raved about them as well. And if you order hot tea it comes in the most adorable things. Our waitress was on the ball- I never had to wait for a drink refill nor did I ask. She was fantastic and sweet and knowlegable. The place is small, but clean and adorable. Loved the whole experience!!

Leesa B.

Yelp
Super friendly staff. I forgot my glasses and she brought me a few readers to choose from. Food was very good and she even offered me a coffee to go. I would definitely come back.

Jessica C.

Yelp
We've returned to Bluegrass a few times since my last review and they have definitely redeemed themselves. Don't sleep on the pancakes or the cinnamon roll french toast!

Richard R.

Yelp
Smoked salmon was really salty, had bones and fat clusters. They could select the fish a bit better. Otherwise good. Nice local people here.
google avatar

Bruce F.

Yelp
Family owned business, homemade soups and quiche. Salmon Eggs Benedict. n more. Been going there for 15 years. Treated like family.
google avatar

Randi J.

Yelp
Waited to be seated on a Friday am. Small restaurant with Bluegrass in the background. Food was good. Coffee was not great. Had keto options which was cool. Keto biscuits yum!! Has some interesting options we had pesto omelette and greek omelette which were good. side of fruit was strawberries on plate which was different (not cut up which was a bit odd but not bad) Only recommendation have real cream for coffee. Would we go back, absolutely. Lots of other options we would like to try.
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Best meal on a ten day road trip, no lie. Our server was of exceptionally good cheer, which made the food even better. The biscuit is advertised as best you'll ever taste, and it is a good one, made in-house using a blend of white and wheat flour. I ordered a concoction involving tender red potatoes, corned beef and cheese and topped with an egg (I chose poached hard and it was exquisite if you can forgive me for not enjoying a runny egg). This was our first breakfast made by someone other than our household in 15 months and I am so glad we broke the breakfast fast here.

Yelp
If you're thinking about it - do it! This place was beyond expectations! Wonderful service, good social distancing, and a mom & pop/family owned business. What's better the supporting local? One thing I loved is their cute coffee cups, mine was a Halloween cup.. it's the little things for me. I got the black bean burrito which was stuffed to the max with eggs, cheddar, mozzarella, & black bean chili wrapped in a tortilla, topped with salsa & sour cream. The house potatoes are to die for! Seasoned to perfection and crispy but soft. Our waitress recommended the eggs Benedict for my fiancé, which blew him out of the water. We got a cinnamon roll to go and by far one of the BEST sweets I have ever had. I am not someone who has a sweet tooth but I would eat that 10x over. You HAVE to get it! 10000% recommended!!

Karin R.

Yelp
Chose this restaurant based on the reviews and it did not disappoint! The food was great and the service was excellent. The staff work together very well to ensure quality service. Will definitely return if we are ever in the area.
