Family‑run and fiercely local, Blue’s smokes low and slow—ribs, tri‑tip, and pulled pork with scratch sides. Regularly voted best barbecue by Billings readers, it’s a detour to the Heights that rewards with honest, smoke‑kissed plates.

Hidden gem! Excellent brisket, good sauce, nice heat, sweet but not sticky! Food was hot and fast!

Great local BBQ spot. Brisket was great, lots of side options. I'd stop here over fast food any day of the week. Food took less than a minute after ordering, people are friendly and welcoming If you are visiting Billings and want to hit a local lunch spot I'd 100% recommend.

World famous ribs? I think not. I’m from Texas and I would not put these in my top 20. Now, they were not bad, just not “world famous”. They had pretty good flavor, they were tender and fairly good. I’d say in my top 50. With my ribs I had the slaw and baked beans. Both were good sides. They have a mild and hot sauce. The mild was not good, the hot was ok. Both were very sweet and cover the flavor. I’m more for the Texas dip style sauce. Just me though. The atmosphere is….. well, it’s in a gas station so not the best. Not that this has anything to do with food taste it’s just the atmosphere. It’s not fancy and that’s ok with me. Just letting you know. Service was ok, it’s order and they bring it to you. It’s worth a try and make your own opinion.

Out of all the BBQ places here in Billings, Blues BBQ is the best hands down. The shop is located inside of the convenience store but don't let that fool you. I was greeted with a kind hello and welcome in. There is seating available but I was getting food to go. Didn't have to wait long before our order was taken. The store was clean, staff was friendly and the food was out of this world. I also really enjoy the fact that the store is decorated and feels like you stepped back into the 90's. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food at a great price.

Google
Blue’s BBQ blew me away. Their tri-tip is, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever tasted—perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor. The ribs are thick, tender, and fall-off-the-bone delicious. I also tried the ranch pasta, and wow—it’s creamy, rich, and the perfect side. The shredded pork is a classic done right—smoky, savory, and always a hit. I currently live in the South, where great BBQ is everywhere, and I can confidently say Blue’s BBQ tops it all. If you’re anywhere nearby, run—don’t walk—to try this place. You won’t regret it!

Google
Ive had BBQ from Texas, Louisiana, Florida, St Louis Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Montana. I’ve been in Montana for 3 years and have yet to find any BBQ style food to eat that I liked. These folks definitely exceed my expectations! Food quality good, Friendliness, Helpful, Confident in their products, and all around a great establishment! I definitely will make my way back here soon hungry for more! I definitely recommend the beans they’re so delicious! But everything else is so good too! Especially the Pork & Chicken!

This is a great hidden gem of a BBQ location! The food was melt in your mouth goodness! The salads were all homemade not to mention their dry rub and sauce pairs perfectly! Don't miss the best BBQ in the west!

Google
Great find, hands down the best BBQ in Montana thus far. From the Super friendly and knowledgeable staff to the clean dining room, this place is all around a great find. Don't let the fact that they are located inside a gas station fool you. They have their own dining area that is as clean and stocked as any stand alone establishment I've ever been to. The tri-tip was cooked just right with a really good smoke ring and delicious bark. The shredded pork is fantastic, juicy tender and really tasty. (Going for the shredded pork sandwich on my next visit). The Baked beans were good along with the coleslaw. If you are looking for a great BBQ that reminds me of the quality of meat back in South Florida give these guys a shot I promise you will not be disappointed. No less than 10 local hard working gentlemen purchased food to go while I ate and I bet they don't settle for mediocre direct BBQ for lunch. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
My son bragged about the ribs here and I see why.. very tasty and smoked perfectly. The brisket was ok, could have been a little more tender. Sides are also ok.. definitely have the ribs!

Michael C.

Yelp
Excellent Service! I ordered the Tri Tip/Ribs and it was excellent. The potato salad was fresh and very good! "I'll be Back"!

Janell G.

Yelp
This was excellent food - for the location we were pleasantly surprised. Everyone was very nice and food came quickly. The facility was what I expected being in a gas station but, who cares the food was awesome

Dane S.

Yelp
Great owners. Fabulous ribs their sides are also prey darn good. Not fancy, but you can always fine seating

Tammie Y.

Yelp
I recently moved to Billings from down South, which has a large selection of really good BBQ places to try. I was told that Montana isn't really known for BBQ, but I really enjoyed my meal here. I ordered a rib and tri-tip plate with beans and potato salad. The meat was tender with a nice smoky flavor, in fact, the tri-tip was better than some smoked brisket I have tried. The sauces are good, but I much prefer the hot bbq sauce. The beans were good once I added some BBQ sauce to them, but the potato salad was just so-so to me. As far as the location, it's inside of a gas station, so it's not what I would call your typical BBQ place. That said, it's casual and the staff is very friendly. All-in-all, I'll be eating here again. Here's to hoping they add a solid banana pudding to the menu!

Lisa W.

Yelp
The ribs are the very best! I have been a loyal customer for years, wouldn't get ribs anywhere else. The service is great, always friendly and kind. The sides are great, I get a baked yam and ranch pasta salad. The perfect meal. Who needs ambiance, it's about the ribs and the stellar service.

Yelp
Unusual setting...part of a gas station/convenience store location but has a regular restaurant and drive-thru. We enjoyed their pulled pork and multiple sides plus reasonable sweet tea. Kind hospitality and service.

Art S.

Yelp
Looking for some BBQ on the way to the airport? Returning your rental car and need gas. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST. The bbq is great! We had ribs and brisket. Perfect..The sides are great as well. Next year when I go to billings I will be getting some large trays of food for our group.

Jonathan D.

Yelp
Great food and the politest people I have ever met. Look past the gas station and enjoy yourself a great meal!

Yelp
Pros: turkey, sweet tea, pulled pork sandwich , baked yams, friendly staff Cons: ribs, brisket, beans I was super excited to try Blue's based on reviews so I was first in there when they opened. I like to get BBQ right off the smoker so it hasn't bern sitting around drying out. A few changes could really elevate this place to real barbecue but for now its a huge let down. The pulled pork was good but seems to be a pre made heat and serve from a place like US Foods or other wholesalers. Ribs and brisket were tough, dry and lacking flavor. Asked for the fattie cut of brisket (point) not the lean (flat) and I was told they cant really do that. I really cant get over how bad the ribs were... hard to even bit into. Turkey was moist with heavy smoke flavor. Baked beans were mush. The baked yam n brown sugar was a nice and cook just right. Staff was super friendly and really provided great customer service.

Yelp
Great barbecue food and sides! Convenience store next door for beer! I would definitely recommend this place for barbecue and sides!
google avatar

Loran W.

Yelp
Very basic dining room (attached to convenience store). Tri Tip was excellent. We thought sauces were too sweet. You might not. Service was excellent. People were happy to be working there

Maria N.

Yelp
Pulled pork was really tasty, service was great and fast , staff are very friendly, nice and helpful ,place is clean

Joshua C.

Yelp
The food is always done right, service is always fast and friendly, and it's always consistently great! The ribs are the best in town and affordable! For $70 bucks you can feed the entire family with leftovers.

Yelp
Came in for dinner and had the full rack of ribs with baked beans and potato salad. The baked beans and the potato salad were the best part of the meal. Both were excellent. The potato salad was my favorite as it had great flavor, but I would warn anyone who doesn't like mustard to not get it. Now for the ribs...I found them to be bland with little seasoning. The ribs had some pull to them, but they tasted as if they had been sitting in a warmer for a significant amount of time. The sauce served on the table is good and helps give the ribs flavor, but unfortunately not enough to overcome everything else. I will try something else if I decide to return.

Bridget R.

Yelp
Wonderful BBQ! Great option for big gatherings or catering needs. I love the pulled pork! The pasta salad is my go to for every potluck because I have never met someone that didn't like it. Staff is very friendly and helpful!

Nancy S.

Yelp
Food is delicious ... the potato salad and ribs are great!! Not too expensive which is a plus..!

Yelp
Lightning fast service! Had pulled pork sandwich, baked beans and potato salad. Was very good.

Erin S.

Yelp
Great BBQ ribs and sides at this spot! Don't let the fact they are attached to a gas station stop you from trying it unless you are looking for fancy atmosphere. Ribs were tender and had great flavor, bbq beans were great, and the coleslaw had good tang to it. No frills BBQ restaurant with friendly service. I will go back.

Becky O.

Yelp
Best BBQ in Billings. Highly recommend! Fast service and they are super appreciative when you tip!

Joe B.

Yelp
What a gem this place is! Awesome good at a really good value, I treat my family to blues at least once a month and I've never been disappointed. Staff is always top shelf and the food is amazing! Potato salad and Cole slaw are my fav, ribs always rock and if you love turkey then your gonna love blues turkey!

Yelp
Quick and yummy. Nothing fancy, just good and quick. A great place for lunch, but a little bare-boned for a dinner.
google avatar

Yelp
Hole in the wall small restaurant but the best BBQ in Billings! Love their baked sweet potatoes and coleslaw as a side. Ribs are to nice for.

Yelp
Amazing! Super busy but the wait was short, good service and seemed family run. Good pricing, paid under $25 for two large meat plates with a total of 4 sides and two drinks. The barbecue sauce seemed homemade. They were doing some sort of interview for the news and they made sure it was okay with us before filming. Overall an amazing experience! I come from Washington on vacation but if I ever return I will make sure to stop by!

Suzanne S.

Yelp
Been going here for about 20 years! Great pulled pork sandwiches and friendly owners! Love it!!

Romary C.

Yelp
First time eating here and my last. The sides were better the meat itself. The meat was nothing special. I had ribs and some sausage. They tasted like unseasoned and you can only hope whatever sauce you put on it adds the flavor to it.. LASTLY, of course I found a piece of hair on my ribs . Instantly regretted eating what I already did. The only reason this is getting two stars is because of the sides; baked beans and potatoe salad. You can't really mess that up. I hope not
google avatar

Yelp
Some of the best pulled pork I've ever had! Coleslaw and baked beans were excellent. Not a lot of room for seating on the inside, but they have a drive-thru and the service was very fast. Stop reading the reviews and go eat there now! :-) You won't be disappointed!

Jobie M.

Yelp
Omgggg best BRISKET I ever had!!! Eat here once a week! The U.S honestly needs to make this into a CHAIN restaurant:) bay bbq hands down,

Yelp
Very seldom do I give 5 stars. The restaurant must be exceptional. Granted, this time we took our food to go so I can't rate the dine-in experience, but the food was fantastic. We ordered the Family Meal with a rack of ribs, sausage and 3 large sides. The ribs were moist and tender with a great smoky flavor, they were either Prime or Choice pork baby back ribs with a nice meat to fat ratio. I loved the bark skin that the pit master achieved. Man, those were the best take-out ribs I have ever had! The smoked sausage was delicious as well. Not too greasy, nice smoke and a satisfying snap, good stuff. You get a choice of hot or mild sauce, we chose the mild-tangy, not too sweet, a great combination for the smokey meat. The sides were also excellent. The potato salad had big chunks of potato and egg just like I make at home. The cole slaw could have used more vinegar but it was fine and the baked beans were outstanding- better than my own; not too sweet, nice smokey flavor with pieces of bacon and tender pinto beans, great fart food! I highly recommend this place. We'll be back next time we're in Billings. Good job guys!

Yelp
Really delicious bbq. I got pulled pork, and brisket with a ranch pasta salad and sweet potato. The small plate. Very tasty , it was not saucy and or gooey. It was more like dried seasoning. Really enjoyed this and free refill on the soda. Just go back up to the counter and they refill it for you. This place is right next to the gas station. Like connected but separate at the same time, this is a no frills place but very clean and hospitable employees.

Yelp
We drove across town because we had a craving for Blue's BBQ. The last time we wanted to try their food, their restaurant was closed because they were on vacation. This was my first time visiting their restaurant in the Heights. They are located in the same building as a gas station convenience store. I did enjoy their BBQ at several catered events and love their food. There was ample parking upon arrival. There was only one person in line before me, so I had time to review their daily specials and menu. I decided to get three of their daily specials and 1/4 lb of their ribs. We picked up food and took it home for our family to enjoy. Almost everything was eaten and enjoyed by all. We did have some leftovers that we enjoyed the very next day. Yummy in our tummy. It felt like a family run restaurant because their customer service was amazing. A gentleman took my order, a few people put our orders together with care, they packed up our food gently making sure the sauces didn't spill. I felt like a valued customer. In the end it is all about the customer service experience.

Yelp
This is the only place I will order brisket. Always delicious especially with their spicy bbq on the side. I love that they have baked sweet potatoes as an option. The pasta salad is also amazing if you like a creamy option.

Yelp
For a very discerning Q fan.....this is GREAT southern bbq... GREAT Brisket GREAT Ribs GREAT Ham GREAT Link

Tracy N.

Yelp
I love a good BBQ place and this is definitely a great one! Was in town for one night on my way to Idaho. Stopped by for food and it was delicious! We had ribs, brisket, sausage, potato salad and coleslaw. It so all so good that on the way back home to Minnesota I made the family stop again! Their bacon ranch pasta salad is so flavorful and good! I could eat that for a meal! Try the hot BBQ sauce. It's not really spicy but it has a rich flavor!! I wish it was closer to Minnesota! Owner and workers are friendly and knowledgeable.

Darla D.

Yelp
Our favorite barbecue place. I have the small meat platter with baked sweet potato and coleslaw. We take it to go and relish every bite.
google avatar

Arturo R.

Yelp
Great BBQ at reasonable prices. The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious. Lots of options of brisket, pulled pork, ribs etc. The spicy BBQ sauce ain't really spicy!

Phil H.

Yelp
Brisket was good, but if you want fall off the bone ribs, this is not the place. Beans looked like Van Kamp's beans.

Londa L.

Yelp
Everything is so tasty s and nice folks there. The brisket and ribs are amazing. Sandwiches are good too along with the sides. I have ordered lg amounts of the pulled pork for graduations, birthdays, it is good and they have always had it ready for day and time I ordered.

Yelp
Bet bbq in Billings period. I've lived in the south so I know bbq and Blues BBQ has it down. Patience and tender loving care
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
So delicious! Definitely get the spicy sausage, it's got the perfect amount of kick to it. Really enjoyed it! My favorite part of my meal for sure. Ribs were very succulent and only really needed a little sauce. Very good! Brisket was a little dry but their BBQ sauce is really good (a little on the sweet side, even the hot), so a little bit of sauce and the brisket was excellent. Baked yam was good and comes with brown sugar and butter on the side. Baked beans were okay. As everyone mentioned, it is in a gas station. It's basically inside the convenience store of the gas station. You can eat inside or they have a drive thru for take out. Super friendly and great service! Definitely recommend for BBQ in Billings.

Yelp
Gas station cuisine at its finest. Our GPS has led us astray on many occasions, but this time, we were quite happy with the results. As we headed toward Billings, MT, we were hungry, and I was craving BBQ. Pete liked the name of Blue's BBQ, so that's where we went. We were at first a bit surprised at the location. You have to walk into the gas station and then enter the restaurant. But restaurants connected to gas stations aren't new to either of us, and we've had some great food at others, so we gave it a try. When you walk in, you are immediately hit with the most mouthwatering smells, and the meats are proudly displayed behind the counter. You order at the counter, take a number, and sit down and wait for your food to be delivered. The wait wasn't long, and even if it had been, it would have been well worth it. Pete had the large combo plate with 4 ribs, 4 ounces of brisket and two sides (potato salad and beans). I had a brisket sandwich (with coleslaw and beans). I loved the hot BBQ sauce, but Pete chose the mild sauce. Either way, yummy. The coleslaw was perfect with the sandwich, and most of it ended up on top of the sandwich. The beans had thick pieces of bacon in them. This place was friendly, quick, filling, and conveniently located...We filled up on gas, got some ice for our cooler, and even went through the car wash. All after eating our yummy BBQ. If we are ever driving through this area again, we will definitely make a stop at Blue's BBQ. (There is also a drive-up window.)

Yelp
Can't beat the prices. Can get a whole meal and drink for like $9. Pulled pork is sooo good, along with their beans and potato salad. The drive through is a huge bonus.

Mitchell K.

Yelp
I had the ribs, beans and pasta salad and it was mostly "Meh". The beans had good flavor, but seem to be canned. The pasta salad was more mayo than anything, which completely overwhelmed any other flavor there may have been. I enjoyed the rub they used on the ribs, it had a nice flavor, unfortunately the ribs didn't do the rub justice. By that I mean that while they were completely cooked, they were tough as leather which indicates to me that they were either not in the smoker long enough or they were cooked at too high of a heat. Staff was friendly.

Deana J.

Yelp
The brisket was horrible! Maybe it was too old or over cooked. Either way it was yuck. Sides were alright.
google avatar

Judy D.

Yelp
Food was average. Brisket had little flavor and was chewy. Employees were nice. Coming from Texas, I am used to tasty barbecue. This did not meet our standards.
