Bluestocking Social

My wife and I love Bluestocking Social! We're always able to find our next read, even if we're just stopping in too see Huxley the shop pug. I can especially speak to the quality of their horror and thriller selection since that's I love reading the most, but they of course have much more than that. And if you can't what you're looking for they're more than happy to special order books anytime. I'm very grateful for that, as we tend to keep a steady TBR pile at home.

Picked up a sticker and a book. Friendly owners and sweet pup, Huxley. Overall, always nice to pop in. I think they would do better in a different location due to the structural/sewer issues of the building and surrounding area.

Bluestocking consistently has the best selection, best energy, and best suggestions that completely got me back into reading! The joy spread through good reads and Huxley pets is unmatched! This is my favorite literal underground gem of Evansville.

There’s so much I could rave about this “hidden” bookstore tucked away near the university district. Their selection of both classics and emerging titles is stellar, and I always walk away with more books than I originally go seeking. Their merch, especially their stickers, are great for any fan of collecting them—cute, quirky, simple, and even local jokes galore! They also offer great art supplies and I’ve heard nothing but good things about their events. They’ve helped me every time as an educator in ordering books for my classroom library, too! Their customer service is top notch, especially the real head honcho, Huxley the Pug. Family-owned and proud of it, Bluestocking Social is a must-place stop for anyone, whether it’s an Evansville native or someone passing through town.

Best bookstore in town! From the art, to the great selection of books, to the cutest pug… this bookstore never fails!!! I took an art class here years ago and still use the tools and skills I learned in that class!

Cool bookshop with the perfect vibes and decent selection. Easily perusable shelves and a few other items for sale. Staff were friendly and prices were expected.

What a sweet little shop. And, there’s a pug! Go support your local booksellers. Now more than ever it’s important! This is definitely a five star book store. It’s small, but cozy, and so well curated. With titles you don’t always see- and they will order titles for you. Also, they have stickers and art supplies. Cute earrings. Some local artists art. It’s a great bookstore.

Really fun bookstore. Nice selection of titles plus a corner of basic art supplies. Worth a visit. I'd have given it 5 stars but it's sadly inaccessible due to it being in a basement down a steep set of stairs. Which is a shame because it's otherwise a gem of a place.

Absolutely love this local bookstore! It's downstairs below the cafe on this block. There are a couple of parking spots out front, but there is plenty of street parking around the block. They have a wide selection of diverse and inclusive books. The owners are super nice and have great recommendations. There is also a small selection of art supplies in the back corner! I happily snagged a book about lesbian love stories. The best part about coming here is the precious and wonderful shop dog, Huxley. He is a sweet little pug who politely greets you and peacefully sleeps in the bed by the counter. He will come hang out with you and let you pet him if you ask! I would come here all the time just to sit on the floor and hang out with Huxley and get a new book to read! Support local bookstores!!!

The husband and wife ownership team are super friendly. They will order any title possible. Luckily, they had what I wanted in stock. Just enough whimsy to make you smile without going over the top. Love the merchandise from local artists, including the local authors. White the art supply section might leave a serious artist wanting, they had more than enough for my needs. It's a nice marriage of goods. ** They are in the basement. If you can't handle stairs, this isn't the place for you. However, give the owners a chance to work something out for you if that is the case. They are nice people. ** I'm thrilled that Evansville has a local independent bookstore. They are a awesome local book store! The times I have been in, the owner has been working and she is super nice. The actual amount of books is not a whole lot, however, they have a wide range of genres. Also, they have some art supplies like speciality paper and various other items from small businesses. Definitely worth checking out!
