Bluestone Lane - Review - Financial District - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Australians apparently invented avocado toast, as well as coffee shops. Or if they didn’t invent them, at some point they became the best at them. This particular Australian cafe does excellent coffee/espresso drinks and toasts, plus pastries that are much better than your typical glass-case options. Ideal for workday breakfasts and planning your someday trip to the Great Barrier Reef/future with an undiscovered Hemsworth cousin." - Taylor Abrams

Today I stopped by before work and ordered a hot coffee. The atmosphere was very cozy and the staff was very friendly. I would definitely come back again and start my morning amazing.

Google
Excellent house blend/ medium roast drip brew!!! Tasty yogurt/fruit parfait, pleasant, chill and upbeat ambiance, and kind staff! I’ll be back to try some meals and recommend the place for all the reasons above!!

Google
Genuinely confused about my interaction this morning - mobile ordered for pick up at 7:30, woke up early, decided to go in around 7:05 hoping I could just ask it to be made earlier which seemed like a simple request since it would be as if I ordered it right then and there The guy who had AirPods blasting definitely not expecting anyone to come in made this feel like an impossible request - no, how am I going to make your 1 vanilla latte when I have 4 traveler boxes of coffee I’m making? Worked at starbucks for 4 years, either I could multitask while the coffee was brewing or we had 2 people staffed - 1 for the travelers and 1 for everything else. They had 2 maybe more people working, so extremely perplexed how my ask to have the vanilla latte a bit earlier was of extreme impossibility for the barista. As I sat and waited because he told me it would have to be at 7:30, I watched 5 people come in, order, and get their drink. One and done here

We were visiting San Francisco and found this nice cafe in the morning for breakfast :) coffee is so delicious and food mmm, yummy! Recommend!

Google
Coffee actually taste good but took off one star due to sanitation - quite a few fruit fly in the pastry display case and milk kept at the counter vs in temperature control. Service is ok but fast!

Google
Not to sound bad, because it’s a good coffee shop, but anyone saying that it’s an Australian standard coffee hasn’t been to enough good Aussie coffee shops. Good coffee, much better than the average American. Everything is take away, even if you eat in. So you’ll get your food in a cardboard takeaway container. Points for sustainability!

I stopped here on the way to the office during a work trip and I was somewhat underwhelmed. The avocado toast was tiny and had nothing but chili flakes on it— a bit sad. The matcha had very little powder, so it mostly tasted of milk. The staff is kind and the coffeeshop is cute though, they have comfy pillows, plants, and nice decor.

Google
Had a pretty good Breakfast All Day bowl. Good cafe for coffee and small bites, not so much a real “brunch” place. Very Keto friendly. Cute ambiance — nice furniture and decor.

Yelp
Great coffee. Quick service. Delicious salmon toast with avocado and so much more. Quality food and affordable

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place since it's always so crowded in the AM. I decided to pop by for a quick takeaway order otw to the office, which was def. the perf. time since it was quiet and had no line. Since it was always so crowded, I did come in with high expectations...which is usually how I set myself up in the end (lol) Since it was a little later than my usual coffee time, I opted for an iced matcha and got a salmon toast + poached egg, to go. The iced matcha latte was okay for me, much too milky for my taste and style overall, & the matcha flavor was too light. The salmon toast was meh, and def. not worth the $$. Adding a poached egg was already a few dollars xtra, while the price for the salmon and toast portion was very underwhelming. Overall, flavor was also a bit too tart and drowned with their sauce (something like an olive oil) - which ultimately also got the bread very soggy. Sadly, the bread itself was also very basic and a bit more thin than I'd imagine. Overall, likely wouldn't return with a few other cafes around here that just hits better, at least in either food or drinks.

Yelp
Coffee - 4 stars Service - 0 stars I was really excited to try this place but my excitement was quickly dimmed by the service I received. The person at the front was very dismissive when I asked questions about the menu - let me be clear. The menu doesn't state what flavors they have for a latte so I asked and received a VERY dismissive "umm vanilla, lavender, mocha" - which turns out they had plenty of others that I would have loved to try but just went with a lavender and vanilla latte. When I ordered it as a "lavender vanilla oat latte" I was rudely met with "those are separate flavors" yep, I have enough of a brain to know that those are 2 different flavors and I'd like to put both of them in my coffee. The rest of the interaction with myself and my coworker were just rude and dismissive. Anyways, just not my favorite experience at a coffee shop. If you're looking for warm, inviting vibes, look elsewhere. The atmosphere is cute and I'm sure the other staff here are nice, but the gal with the short hair and glasses working this morning needs improvement!

Yelp
This is a pretty solid place in the middle of the financial district. The food's always filling and service is really good. The menu though on food items is a little thin, i would say.

Yelp
Really bold, delicious coffee! Cute place with lots of options, and the baked goods looked great.

Yelp
One of my coworkers did a quick Yelp search for some solid coffee near our hotel and Bluestone fit everything they were looking for. I needed a quick pick me up after a morning of travelling and I ended up ordering a cold brew. They have a digital kiosk, or you can order with the people at the counter. They let me add my own milk to my cold brew so I could get the perfect "splash" of cream I was looking for. The coffee tasted great and was just the boost I needed for the rest of the day. They do have some tables if you're looking to stay in for a while or meet up with someone and the staff was friendly. They also have a cold case with some options that are quick to grab and go if you're in a rush.

Yelp
This is a cute coffee shop in financial district. It is huge inside with plenty of seats and nice music to work to. I came here before an exam and the staff were super kind and helped ease my mind. The pastries and drinks gave me extra energy but also tasted fantastic. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely return!

Yelp
Whatever this place might've been originally in the little NYC shop, it doesn't serve anything like Australian coffee today as a chain in SF. As an Aussie living in this city the leaning in to the Aussie "brand" with the g'days and mates feels vaguely offensive when the coffee is worse than Starbucks. I don't believe it's the baristas because the coffee was the same bitter burnt flavour both times I tried, and modern espresso machines don't allow for over-extraction. This coffee is not recommended by this Aussie. Service was fine I don't know why other people were down on it but it's been a minute since I went there.

Ezzie M.

Yelp
Used to be one of my favorite spots in SF, however the last few times something doesn't work. - You can't use rewards - Only takes cash - The worst was when I found HAIR IN MY SALAD The dude working the register doesn't know anything about the rewards or discounts that you get if you're a loyal customer ... The quality has gone down across the board this year at this location.

Yelp
Delicious food and a nice environment. I gave it a "four" because the service is subpar and the prices are sky high. It's a pleasant place to work (although the internet sucks) but given the prices, not great service and spotty internet I'll walk an extra block and go to Philz.

Debbie Y.

Yelp
Typically enjoyed coming here since the coffee was usually good but ordered some breakfast today and was disappointed by the quality. The salmon toast I got to go didn't look very appetizing... no garnishing and only one sad slab of salmon.
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee and breakfast/pastry in FiDi. I got Avocado Toast with the Lot and Kouign Amann since I'm on the hunt for hồ Kouign Amann in SF. The avocado toast was great with lot, might be a bit more salty than how I'd like it to be. They also have the option to add egg with it if you want to. Kouign Amann was great, really flaky and light, not too sweet. They also have a good selection of smoothie so there you go if you want something healthy. When I went there, they said everything will be packed for to go even though you dine in so please keep that in mind.

Yelp
A nice shop with good seating options. First time here and it was a little confusing. No menu in sight except for a tiny sign indicating bakery items available. Pulled up menu on my phone, but no pricing. Didn't realize where to order until someone behind the counter said hello. Then I noticed the kiosk. It was nice that they displayed their cup sizes though. You can also order online. I ordered the chai latte which was great. Didn't have to wait long for order either. Would go again for this particular drink. There was quite a few people sitting inside at tables. There's some outdoor seating too. I noticed a lot of foot traffic too after the lunch crowd rush. Nice to see. Not sure when I'll wander in again, but do appreciate another area option.

Yelp
Got a basic avocado toast. Basically perfect. Bread was toasty enough with a soft center. Thick layer of smashed avocado. Exactly what I wanted. With a hot tea.

Yelp
Is it just me or has anyone been freakin craving avocado toast?! I'm officially obsessed lol this place is freakin fuego! You won't be disappointed! Super freaking cute spot to chill or get some work done. This place is right down the street from where I work, so convenient! The staff is really nice and friendly they have a cute little kiosk with all of their items, the menu is small and only has the essentials haha The only thing that took me aback was the friggin price. I get it, we out here in the heart of SF with like 3 different taxes applied haha it's just hard to justify spending about $17 for literally one piece of toast.. my heart probably stopped for a second but my stomach still growled so I had to get it hahaha However, for what it's worth, this toast was more than enough for just 1 meal! :) overall happy customer!!

Yelp
I met someone here for a business meeting and ordered a peppermint mocha. A small cup was $5.61, definitely the most I've ever paid for this drink, anywhere. Unfortunately it was also nothing like any other peppermint mocha I've ever tasted. There was no trace of peppermint or coffee and the drink tasted of watered down bittersweet chocolate, as if unsweetened cocoa powder was sprinkled on lukewarm milk. Orders are placed at the tablet at the counter. It was a rather easy process to place an order. Service was pretty good as I received my drink fairly quickly. Their indoor and outdoor spaces were very clean and the ambiance was pleasant. Others around me seemed to be enjoying their food and beverages. For me, I think I'll take a pass.

Yelp
They make a good product & the service is on par, although the reason for my review will hopefully bring to their attention that they have No toilet seat covers in their bathroom which is rather odd, considering that their bathroom is very neat & tidy otherwise. Might want to install this simple but needed item on the wall for their customers. Best

Yelp
In the decades that I've been in SF this is THE best coffee the financial district has had to date. The coffee is delicious and they know how to pull a shot.

Yelp
Alright for being a cafe in SF, they had a pretty nice inside space, that was next to I think a bar, which together has tons of seating. I think there was even an event or rental space for events in the back. Of course it is still the pandemic so the seating was limited. They were severely short staffed, one guy kept going from the front to the back saying he was helping in the back with food, which was weird, and I felt like he was alone. On the bright side, their order is done fully online, including an online menu, so you don't have to worry about waiting on someone to take your order. But that does mean it is online payment (or card only) since you have to pay through the online platform. They have their full menu online, include cafe food like avocado toast and coffees, they were low on their pastries, but I did include a photo of the few options they did have. The coffee itself was a cortado, but I think their menu called it the piccolo. The milk was smooth and I was overall happy with my drink, but their coffee was very caramely and pleasant. I'd go back again, once they have more staff.

Yelp
Finally writing a review for Bluestone after picking up morning coffee a good handful of times now. I like that you can order ahead and as you're walking to the office, walk in, pick up coffee and keep going. 5 stars for convenience but 3 stars for actual app usage. Unfortunately 3/5 times they would get my coffee order wrong so it was disappointing. It's a simple please add half and half into a hot coffee and 3/5 they would forget the milk customization which meant I had to use the creamer at the office (which I do not prefer and make Bluestone Lane's coffee less desirable). Finally after the 3rd time I wrote a comment not expecting a response, but they did respond and compensated for the mistakes so I appreciate the customer service very much, bringing them back to a 4 star review. There aren't a huge selection of pastries here but they're not bad. I've tried the blueberry crumble muffin, regular blueberry muffin and a kouign amann (which is VERY sweet- a mistake pastry because that was not what I ordered). I do want to to rave about their clean & lean protein bowl bowl because that was delicious! I'd come back for that for a lunch for sure.

Yelp
Yummy Australian coffee! I personally really like their red beet latte because it's made with almond milk and it's not too sweet. They also offer pastries and salmon toast. I like their Iced Chocolate, Chai and Red Beet Latte. If you were wondering what the Magic drink on the menu is, it's similar to a Gilbraltar. The bambicinno is a small baby shot of mocha and steamed milk without espresso (good for kids). There's a nice ambiance with comfy couch seatings and small tables for two. You can find people working on their laptops and even conducting interviews here. Lots of people who work in the FiDi just stop by here for grab and go coffee. There's usually a line but the baristas are really fast and your order is up in a few minutes. Download their mobile app to rack up points here. (I think you get a 5 dollar credit for your first order)

Yelp
dropped into bluestone lane on a thursday morning. super comfy shop space with tables, benches, pillows, plants etc. i got a medium sized iced chai latte. it was pretty good--you could taste the spices. it was a bit too sweet for me, but overall i still enjoyed it. you can order on a tablet at the counter or ahead to pick up.

Yelp
Randomly found this place on Yelp because it was down the street from my hotel. It's a small place but it's decorated nicely and employees were welcoming. I ordered the cold brew with vanilla syrup and a chocolate croissant. I really enjoyed the cold brew, but wouldn't recommend the croissant. It tasted a little stale. My husband ordered a flat white with oat milk and I wish I would've gotten it. While I liked the cold brew, the flat white was delicious! He got a regular butter croissant and that was better than the chocolate one. We liked this place enough to come back on a Saturday morning, but they were sadly closed. Next time I'm in SF, I'll be paying this place a visit.

Yelp
My avocado was good but they forgot my chili flakes :( I wish they had different bread options Bc the bread was hard to cut through. Also, Bc the moisture of the toast, the cardboard box got soggy so I was cutting the layer of paper under my toast. I hope the paper didn't get mixed in with my food. Over all, it was good and I would visit again. But I'll ask for a plate or something else to eat my toast on.
google avatar

Marci P.

Yelp
Nice coffee shop to do a little bit of work from since there's free wifi. The avocado toast with a poached egg was delicious. Also enjoyed the matcha latte.

Ben K.

Yelp
Unpretentious coffee shop serving espresso drinks and a light food menu. Service was good and there was lots of seating available. I especially appreciated the dine-in area had lots of natural light and an airy feel -- it's a welcome change from other downtown coffee shops that feel dark or cramped.
google avatar

Jill P.

Yelp
Came here for a casual business meeting. First time personally meeting this client. He ordered a cappuccino and I had a chai latte. Chai latte was pretty good. We both ordered the salmon toast with "poached eggs" only the eggs were over cooked like hard boiled eggs. Sooooo disappointing and gross. Whack. Didn't want to complain during the meeting so I'm taking it to Yelp. What a waste...
google avatar

Yelp
Avocado toast - AMAZING. Aussie iced latte has ice cream instead of ice which was nice but definitely not expected. Order came out fast and overall great experience. 11/10

Yelp
The coffee tastes great at this location and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. I would be back again for more coffee. It has been a very good experience and ambiance.

Yelp
To anyone searching for a comfortable place to have a delectable cup of coffee or tea, I would heartily recommend Bluestone Lane. As soon as you enter, you are welcomed by a welcoming ambiance that immediately makes you feel at home. Excellent coffee and tea selections are available at Bluestone Lane, with something to suit every taste. Whether you prefer a classic latte or a more adventurous iced matcha, you will be impressed by the quality and flavor of their drinks. The coffee is expertly made and has a rich, smooth flavor that would satisfy even the pickiest coffee enthusiast. The attentiveness and friendliness of the workers at Bluestone Lane distinguish it from other coffee shops. If you have any questions about the menu or coffee options, the staff at Bluestone Lane are always kind and willing to help. To make sure that each visitor is at ease and well-cared for, they genuinely go above and beyond.

Yelp
** The following review reflects my experience prior to the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** This was my very first visit at a Bluestone Lane, and it was your typical FiDi foot traffic jam scene with office drones and tech heads congregating in awkward groupings. I just came in for the $3.50 Hot Brew and felt like I needed to take it to go (photo: https://bit.ly/2SwqPOw). Now in the age of COVID-19, taking it out is mandatory, so they seem well equipped to handle social distancing. That's a good thing since their coffee is rich and smooth. I see another stroll down Bluestone Lane sometime in the future. COFFEE - 4 stars...a smooth brew AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...clean and densely populated at the lunch hour...but that was then SERVICE - 4 stars...quick enough during a rush TOTAL - 4 stars...a FiDi spot worth checking out RELATED - Looking for coffee in the city? Here's a collection of places I've tried and reviewed: https://bit.ly/30sXK8D

Yelp
The food was great and the servers as well . It's just overpriced for the amount of food you get . Salmon avocado toast delicious but you ll need to order three in order to be fulll It was nice and quiet but other customers were just staring at their laptops with no interaction I guess living in San Francisco is too expensive to have your own internet at home lol
google avatar

Yelp
+ Open at 7:00 am! + Granola cup had greek yogurt, fresh berries and a delightful lemon curd! + Placing a group order ahead for 7:00 am pickup: seamless Thank you!

Yelp
I absolutely love the salmon toast at this place! I have to get it every time I'm in San Francisco. The prices are super affordable for the area and they have good coffee too. Definitely worth coming here for a quick but delicious breakfast!
google avatar

Daniel C.

Yelp
Bluestone Lane is a chain of Australian breakfast cafes with several branches in SF. Yes, you can definitely get your vegemite fix here! We came here for breakfast and although service and food quality was decent, it took a long time to get the food since the kitchen was overwhelmed. 3 stars overall. We ordered: 1. The Golden Latte and Beet Lattes were both made with Almond Milk and were pretty good. The turmeric and cinnamon really gave a spicy kick to the latte. 2. Oatmeal was creamy and loaded with coconut, cashews, cranberries and almond. However, the oatmeal itself had too much sugar added. 3. Avocado Toast must have originated in SF and makes for a pricey but healthy light bite. Here they mashed up a ripe and creamy avocado with some lemon and red pepper flakes. They don't take cash here, so pay by card.

Yelp
Now reopened. I like their window seating. Peacefully quiet at 10am (for now). Order via their app and join their loyalty program for rewards.

Yelp
I was about to write a 1 Star review after the fiasco of this place last time when I was in Washington DC, where I didn't get a simple toast until 25 minutes later after I finished my coffee and the latte art got ruined by overpowering amounts of chocolate powder. I decided to give this place another try with the free coffee ticket they gave me for the inconvenience. I decided to check out their Aussie iced latte since after some research, this is an Australian inspired coffee shop. I got it with oat milk, and overall, I really liked it. Same goes for the salmon toast, where all the ingredients are fresh and they put it into a very nice takeout box, similar to when you pull something out of a drawer. It's pretty cute I guess. This time I am far from disappointed. I really enjoyed the food and drink as well as the customer service. I would go back again sometime, when I decide to splurge a little, because this is a very pricey place that would have set me back $19+ if it weren't for the promo and free coffee. Thanks for giving yourself a second chance; you earned back a customer :)

Yelp
The service is very bad. So I was there this morning with a colleague and there wasn't anyone in line. Since there is an ordering machine next to the counter, we were not sure that we should order with the machine or at the counter. There was no greeting nor acknowledgement from the servers. Thus, we finished our ordering through the machine. During the time, I have noticed that we were the only one who being ignored. So, I wasn't happy about that and continue to wait for our coffee being prepared. We waited about ten minutes and most of guys who ordered after us got their coffee ready to go. Therefore, I walked up to one of server and check on my order. The first thing that came out of her mouth was chill out, your order is being prepared and but when the order came out, I had to inform her that I ordered a hot drink and not a cold brew... She didn't apologize or anything and turned her back on me. I heard she mumbling something to express her anger or frustration. I won't say that she might be racist to us since we were the only Asians at the time. But, these attitudes and services meant they don't value my business and I won't go back again. Their coffee ain't that special in comparison to other close by coffee shops.

Yelp
Great spot to catch up with friends over coffee and brunch in San Francisco Financial district. Love their ambience. The interior is so tiny, bright, modern, and Instagram worthy. Also, the coffee and toasts are amazing!! Ordered for 3 ppl: Drinks: Latte: (4.5/5): good quality coffee beans. Golden Latte (?/5): Not a big fan of cinnamon, and no dare to try a sip. :// Food: Avocado Toast (5/5): The best in the town!!! Love their avocado Toast recipe, fresh smash avocado seasoned w/ lemon juice, salt&pepper , chili flakes &olive oil!! The roast of toast just prefect. Tips: I would like to add some extra on the top next time, such as prosciutto or poached egg. Salmon Toast (4/5): according to my friends' comments. It tastes good but too creamy. Breakfast Bowl (4/5): kale, avocado, cherry tomato, red quinoa & poached egg. Hmmmm.. I can feel the healthiness from the breakfast bowl. Maybe few drop of lemon juice would make the salad bowl taste even better. Croissant (5/5): yummy! Crispy and buttery. Very match with the latte.

Yelp
I love impressing my friends with Yelp discoveries. I'm now the default person for picking places for food and drink, including a 7:00 AM breakfast that my friends and I met up for. Bluestone seemed adorable, and who in San Francisco doesn't love overpriced toast? Pretty sure Bluestone is Australian, judging from the wait staff accents and the vegemite on the menu. Everyone is super sweet, and I love the cute and classy atmosphere. My friend saved seats for the rest of us to arrive. I'd recommend groups of 2 to 4 people max since it's a tight fit. It was surprisingly busy for a weekday morning. We all ordered hot coffee, which came in a glass carafe aside a colorful ceramic mug. For breakfast I got the avocado toast, which was delicious and filling. Whenever we needed something, it seemed like I had to make an effort to flag someone down, but the actual process of ordering and paying was seamless. While I wouldn't rush to come here again, I truly enjoyed my experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a new spot to check out in the Financial District. It's a few blocks away from Embarcadero Center, and it's open super early! Definitely lots of notable wins.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee! I met up a buddy of my for coffee and he suggested this place. The cold brew is strong and smooth, as they all should be. Iced and black is how I prefer my coffee. It's slightly pricy for coffee, but I love how places like this thrive in the big city. It was a Tuesday morning, and packed with people taking a break from their busy workday. The place was packed, and the only option was to take our coffee to go. I can't complain though, as it was such a nice day to be walking around the city. I paid with a credit card, and intended to tip with cash but realized that they don't have a tip jar.....Umm y'all should get one.

Yelp
It is a relatively new place, so I may have to update my review soon. I say this because it seemed they are still working out some quirks in the system. It took a little bit too long for a FiDi eatery to get the order processed. It was the lunch hour and the place was busy, but it was a longish wait. Not enough to make me want to leave, but enough to notice. I ordered the avocado toast, and admittedly it was yummy. I sat down at one of the tables and they brought the food out to me. That was nice. And it made me feel a little better about the following: you order at the counter, where you can make it to go or for here of course, and they have a Square paying machine, when you pay it asks you if you want to leave a tip, suggest 15%, 20%, or 25%, the alternative says: No tip today, or something along those lines. That is weird. I am all for leaving a tip, although typically in these kinds of places you pay, you pick up, you leave or you sit down. But the way the Square machine does it and the language it uses kinda guilts you into leaving a tip. I didn't like that... Not a big deal, the 3 stars is not fo that but for the kinks I mentioned above about the time it took to get my order. I saw they applied for a liquor license. I'll go back then and see if I can add a fourth star or better.

Yelp
I've been wanting to go to Bluestone for FOREVER AND A DAY! This place is so great! Great is not a good word, but it is simply that. Great. So many great items: Soups, lunch bowls, coffee, tea, interesting baked goods and more. So boujee! Calafia almond milk, oat milk, and truvia. You pay using the handheld card reader. The kitchen area is tiny. Too many cooks in the kitchen. The seats are always full, and there aren't that many. Iced coffee was on point. Beet latte was interesting! They made my coworker the wrong latte so we got two for the price of one. Sweetness. Or maybe it was my angelic face?

Yelp
Met up at Bluestone Lane with some friends on a Saturday afternoon. It's just a little walk from Embarcadero BART station. Inside is lovely! There is obvious care in the decor for an elevated feel with a mix of a minty green, light woods, marble, and gold accents - and my favorite, greenery! The ambiance was quite nice. There was a good mix of people working and others socializing. The volume was perfect. The bathroom is gender neutral and quite clean. The barista was super friendly and nice. I wasn't sure what I wanted, but he didn't rush me at all. I got: * Latte with Oat Milk (Small, $5.65): Honestly a bit pricey for the small size, but that's SF for you. I think the actual latte was just okay, felt like there could've been more milk! But they did a cute latte art heart.  Overall, I had a really great experience. I think the food like the toasts would've been good. Next time I'll have to come hungry and maybe check out the other location near Union Square!

Yelp
I've been to one of these in NY so I was excited to try the one here. I went for brunch/lunch with my friend on a Saturday at 12pm. It was starting to empty out, so we were able to get seats. Tables are pretty close together, so seating is a bit tight. I ordered the Market bowl (~$14), which was the same as the Breakfast Bowl (~$14, which my friend got) except had beets, corn, and cucumber. It's a little pricy and something I could make at home, but I do like the combination and it was plated very nicely. My only thing is that while pretty, the avocado did not seem ripe enough yet, and did not taste ripe either. A bit expensive for what it is, but I would come here again for a healthy brunch.

Yelp
Awesome new find in downtown! I love this new toast craze, and it's great that they do both excellent toast and coffee and have such a cute shop with plenty of seating for you to hang out. Also love that they were open on a Saturday afternoon in FiDi despitrme the fact that the area turns into a ghost town on weekends. I got a cappuccino and an avocado toast - next time will be excited to try a sweet toast or even a different espresso drink such as piccolo or magic (they explained magic as a drink with tons of caffeine). While I was walking down market street I also saw they are opening another Bluestone location near Kearny/market! That will be very exciting. It doesn't look like there are as many seats but hopefully the menu stays the same!

Yelp
From Australia to the East Coast and now the West, you can come get your basiK on at Bluestone Lane. The location is small, clean and modern. There is plenty of sunlight going in, light wood tables and benches and there are even a few outlets for your laptop. The place is small though so perhaps not the best place to work. The staff is also great and friendly. The cashier was helpful and I believe the manager was sitting on one of the tables taking her break. So why 3 stars you ask? Because simple avocado with egg and coffee will easily run you ~$20 (this is ridiculous even by our warped SF standards). I can't comment on the coffee but the avocado toast was mediocre at best. If you expect to to get an amazing toast because it's starts at ~$8, you'll be disappointed. Add the poached egg, tax and tip and you are looking at a pretty penny for a whole lot of nothing. No "wow" factor here. I don't mind paying for high quality food and go to Michelin Star restaurants all the time but when you charge as much as they do for a thick piece of overtoasted bread, little spread of poorly seasoned avocado and have to pay additional money for a poached egg that's not even runny, I won't just ignore it. Just know coming in you are not paying for the quality of food (average at best) but for how Instagramable it all is.

Yelp
Nice place to work on your laptop. It gets crowded in the morning and lunchtime but clears out pretty quickly. Free wifi and outlets at the middle large table, as well as some outlets sprinkled around behind the cushions.

Yelp
Quaint, convenient and cozy. Excellent place to work and drink/eat. Staff is friendly. Chai teas are delicious. The PB and Berry toast is an interesting and delicious take on the classic. One of my favorite breakfast cafes to spread out my work and sit awhile.
