"After a long hike in the Shenandoah, pause for a pit stop at Bluewater Cocina to sip and savor margaritas and tacos. This food truck is parked behind a plant shop where you are invited to dine al-fresco in what feels like a secret garden. Top taco picks include the chili-rubbed carnitas and gulf shrimp tacos. Bluewater Cocina also recently expanded their menu with breakfast tacos and later weekend hours for a taco garden party that goes until sundown." - Tim Ebner, Kalina Newman

Why three stars? At any food truck a fish taco order gets you two or three. Here it’s $7-8 for one. The shrimp taco and the fish taco were very good. Nice relaxing setting in the garden behind a small garden shop.

It is amazing! Came here for my Aunts 65th Birthday 🎂 Was worried it would be to cold sitting outside. I was wrong, they had plenty of seating and blankets! The jalapeño margaritas was out of this world and made with fresh ingredients My husband, uncle and i had a glass bottle coke and one of each taco. ALL AMAZING! My aunt has a taco salad with chicken, fantastic. Ladies next to us got a pitcher of margaritas! Menu changes seasonally!

Had a great lunch here whilst visiting a few weeks ago. Food was absolutely amazing! Outside seating was all lovely, staff were really friendly, and margaritas were also tasty! Would definitely recommend

Absolutely brilliant. The best tacos we had while on holiday. Would definitely recommend. Food was served out of a little hut and then you can sit outside, I cannot overstate how good the tacos were. I can wholeheartly recommend them.

We went to the Bluewater Cocina because we were considering hiring the company to cater our wedding and they don’t do tastings and recommended we try this location. They recommended that we try this location to experience the quality of their food and service. It is essentially an overpriced taco stand with outdoor seating. The food was lackluster at best. The tacos lacked seasoning, the quesadilla had very little cheese and the chicken in the quesadilla had a bone in it. When we mentioned the bone to the server she said “Let me have that”, grabbed the plate and ran off with it. No apology or follow up. The tortillas were not fresh and very dry. We’ve had better guacamole bought from a Safeway and the chips were marginal. The salsa Fresca looked and tasted like salsa you’d get in a jar. Not recommended nor will we hire Bluewater Kitchen as our caterer as a result. The only redeeming feature was the outdoor garden seating area. Update 20 October 2024. The owner contacted me asking me to take down the review, stating that my review was untrue. As a retired Marine Corps Colonel with over 28 years of service to our country, I can assure you that this is accurate and was intended to provide information to potential customers, clients, and the owners.

Tried all of the tacos and the nachos. The food was flavorful, but cold by the time it was served and expensive ($8-$9 per taco). The nachos had barely any cheese and was majority just crushed chips and salt. Also ordered the jalapeno margarita pitcher, but it was mostly sour mix and just half a jalapeno in the whole pitcher.

Coming here was a disappointing experience to say the least. My partner and I went for dinner and we each got a “marg” that were mostly orange juice with a little bit of margarita mixer. I got one of the chorizo tacos and he got one of the chicken tacos. Our two tacos came together on one paper tray. This was a problem as my partner is allergic to pork and allergies aside it is awkward for two people to try to eat off of one tiny paper plate. The price was also outrageous because we paid $40 for two margaritas and two tacos.

Yelp
This place is an amazing hidden gem. Not only is the food great but the employees are very friendly. Tucked off the main strip this place had a great atmosphere for our family. We tried a good chunk of the menu and not a single one disappointed. The salsa was a fantastic blend of fire roasted tomatoes with large chunks of onions with it. Hatch green chili queso was blended great and topped with queso fresco which gave it an additional depth of salt. For the tacos, each tortilla was homemade and perfectly grilled for a great vehicle to the fillings. Smoked chicken was flavorful and moist which pared well with their aioli. Their catch of the day today was swordfish which was marinated well and topped off with a fresh jicama slaw. The birria, while not your typical wet taco, had flavors that were right in your face and again were topped with the salty queso fresco which helped balance it out. Overall, we'll have to make our way back out to Middleburg just to experience more of this fantastic menu and wonderful atmosphere.

Yelp
Absolutely cute gem just behind the plant store. Service was super friendly, you head up to the window to place your order. Food came pretty quickly, corn salsa first and maybe less than 10 minutes later all our tacos came. They have a delicious sounding breakfast menu and about 9 food options, a decent sized beverage menu and then a few types of chip and dip. The tacos were delicious and it's clear the tortillas are made in house and fresh. The favorite was the fresh catch of the day, the fish was cooked to perfection and paired with the slaw and just the right bit of citrus. Definitely adding this to my rotation of regular spots to eat!

Yelp
Beautiful day for lunch at this fantastic find in Middleburg. If you are looking for tacos and beer, or maybe a margarita, this is the place. Small garden setting, outdoor seating only. Tacos are phenomenal, great selection. Will be back soon, maybe next week!

Yelp
Came on a Saturday, about 10 min after opening. Parking took us probably about 20min...note to self, don't go on the weekend. Parking is impossible. The "restaurant" is tucked behind a plant shop. Super cute. Fits the farm to table vibe. Very aesthetically pleasing. The menu is straightforward. They had QR codes at the community tables but it was kind of deceiving bc you couldn't actually order from it. The prices are on the pricey side for what you get. One small taco is $7. It was about $45 without tip for 5 tacos and a chips/queso. The food was fine but not the best I've had. Chips and queso were good. We got those fairly quick. The tacos themselves took over 40 minutes. It seemed like everyone was just waiting around for their tacos. Every seat was taken and only chips were being served. Honestly the biggest con we had, but I understand it's a new restaurant. In terms of tacos, we tried the carnitas, beef and chicken. By the time we got the tacos, the tortilla was either soggy or stuck to the paper lining. Having two tortillas would've been better. The meats were well cooked but somewhat lacked seasoning. We ended up putting hot sauce on them. My toddler seemed to like them but again, little seasoning. All in all, I'd wait until they worked out their kinks before returning. It was somewhat of a stressful experience for us with the parking situation and how long it took for food to arrive. No pics were taken bc I had a hangry toddler and husband

Yelp
What a cute outdoor taco hang out. The garden surroundings are fabulous, even in the fall. The tacos flavorful and the spicy margarita spot on. Tangy, spicy and smooth.

Yelp
Really vibed with the style and theme of this place. How it's tucked away in what felt like a secret garden, even tho the main walkway is behind it. The lady behind the counter who took my order did have a little bit of an attitude that day. Tacos came out quick n tasted fresh. Their hot sauce was topshelf. So vibrate in color, delicious without being too hot. The only drawback is the flavor from the meats I tried were on the mild side, while being a tad bland. I'm someone who loves that authentic punch in your face flavor from all the spices n chiles. The star of the show was their tortilla's. I've had more tortillas in my life than most. These were definitely unique, like a hybrid of flour n corn, with thin pancake like vibes. I truly loved them as it's what made the taco that much more enjoyable. My only gripe is the entire menu is overpriced, especially for the area. At the end of the day, taco's are a small holable n affordable item. Paying $7 for a beef taco or $6 for a chicken is excessive. I wanted to order 4 but couldn't justify spending almost $30. These were the pricest ones to date and Im someone who's eaten my fair share of taco's over the years at many locations all over. If you like taco's with a unique twist, this place is worth a try.

Yelp
Lovely and delicious treat off the main drag in Middleburg. Margaritas are delish, guac, tacos and tortilla soup too!

Yelp
This place has great potential but needs to work out some kinks. It's outdoor only, so on a cold November night, space heaters would've been a huge plus (although they do provide blankets, which is a nice touch). The tacos were delicious, especially the smoked chicken. The chicken was very tender with a fantastic smoke on it. Chips were decent (overpriced) and the green salsa, guacamole, and queso were great. The margaritas were also delicious and big. The server was friendly and didn't let us clean up after ourselves Beware: your bill will be higher than you anticipate!

Yelp
Cute place with nice chill ambiance and lots of outdoor seating, margaritas are terrific but limited food options

Yelp
Stumbled across this little spot while exploring Middleburg one weekend. We had wanted to try it for months and decided to stop in. Delicious tacos and fabulous margheritas enjoyed in a beautiful garden setting. Relaxed atmosphere and lots of shaded seating. Definitely will go back next time we're in town.

Yelp
Tasty tacos, great laid back garden setting. Sadly, they have no bathroom if the store they share it with closes for the day. Seems it's not their problem if you need the bathroom after you have dined.

Yelp
We had such a great experience at Bluewater Cocina tonight. The food and drinks were phenomenal. Outdoor seating space was super cute. All of the staff were very friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This is a very charming and quaint restaurant. The setting consists of communal benches and tables at the middle of a garden where the vegetables and herbs are grown. It is a literal farm to table setting. I expected the food to be more special, but it really wasn't. The food was fine but nothing to write home about. I had a taco salad and a "catch of the day" taco. Both were average. I particularly did not like the salad dressing, which was kind of sweet. The shrimp in the taco salad was tender and prepared well. The place is pricey for what it offers. I was there with a friend. Between two of us, we ate a taco salad, 3 tacos, a side of chips and guacamole, and one regular coffee. No alcoholic drinks! The bill, including the tip was more than $82. You order the food at the counter and they bring it to you when it is ready. I am hoping they can improve the food. If I go back it will be for its charming setting.

Yelp
Good food but hard to find seating. Weather was windy and no place to sit. Outside seating only and very limited area.

Jonah C.

Yelp
This place is very cozy. The people are very nice. The food is great. The only downside is that there's not many places to sit and the food takes a long time to come out, but if you're willing to wait, this is a great place.
