Finally made it here, having had it on our list of places/distilleries to check out. Huge disappointment, though. Take the 1 Star reviews about service seriously. It started with the long wait at the "please wait to be seated sign," where staff walked by us repeatedly without acknowledgment. It was so long that we were about to head out the door when a gal who'd walked by us multiple times finally said "Ok, would you like a table?" Um ... no, we were just standing here for 8 minutes hoping to talk to you about your relationship with Jesus ...
Anyway ... the place was only half filled. Once at the table, the same thing. No acknowledgement and after another 8 to 10 minute wait a gal who'd walked by us multiple times says, with a sigh, like we were somehow interrupting something, asked if we wanted to order drinks, food.
It went on like this the rest of the evening. When drinks and food finally arrived, we enjoyed both. But, really had to wonder why it took 20 minutes for a bowl of chowder and two fish tacos to come out. During this time, we did not see a whole lot of food being delivered to tables, and again, half the chairs/tables were empty.
All in all, just a bizarre level of somewhat passive aggressive wait service in an attractive place, with decent cocktails, decent food. It was a let down big enough that we won't be back (and I went there with the intention of also buying a $36 bottle of their gin for my home bar, but decided not to because I was just not sold on the place, or the brand).
A 20% tip was not automatically added to our bill, as others have noted. I just checked the receipt after reading reviews here, worries that we'd paid for a tip we didn't want to pay. We tipped, but no where near our customary 20%. We have family members in the industry and know how important tips are, so it takes some pretty sloppy service for us to not tip at least a minimum.
