Small, but super fun with amazing food and great service. I had the chicken fried rice and it was probably the best I've ever had. I also a the slider. It was quite good. My friend's ordered a ton of sushi and they enjoyed it. The blackened tuna app was great. You cant go wrong here.

Google
Awesome Sushi Spot! Super fresh fish, great vibes, and really friendly service. We tried a variety and loved each/every bite—especially the Grosse pointer and summer roll. Everything was super flavorful and beautifully done. Definitely a place we’ll come back to. Great find!

I heard about BluFin from a close friend of mine and the feedback was overwhelming positive. After hearing how my friends’ service went with the establishment I decided to go there today for lunch. I arrived at around 3:05 pm and upon entering I was greeted within a 15 second timeframe from the host, handed the main menu and sushi menu and was given the option to pick where I wanted to sit (Outside/Patio, inside with two areas, one of which is directly in front of the sushi bar and kitchen and the other on the opposite side of the restaurant). I decided to go with inside by the sushi bar and kitchen. After being sat I was greeted by my server within 2 minutes and was met with positive energy which I loved and was poured a glass of water. After another few minutes of looking over the menu my server returned and I placed my order. Since this was my first outing here I went with four items: Popcorn Shrimp, BluFin Roll, Blue Devil Roll, and the Mongolian Beef special. Everything I had was fantastic, I made sure every plate was clean before the dish got back to the tank. The popcorn shrimp was fried just right and the sauce, omg the sauce was FIRE! The rice rounded out the dish as a palate cleanser and all components worked together perfectly. The BluFin and Blue Devil Rolls were some of the best pieces of sushi I’ve had in Michigan, no exaggeration. Everything was fresh and each piece made you want to keep eating more. Lastly the Mongolian Beef special was the icing on top of an already fantastic experience. The beef was flavorful and tender, the sauce accompanied with the beef was delicious and the scallions and fried onions (I believe it was fried onions) garnished on top gave me everything I was looking for. As someone who works in the industry (restaurant) I always love going to places where the staff takes pride in the food and service they display. BluFin will definitely be a spot I return to and suggest from word of mouth and social media.

Had a great experience at Blufin!! Our server was Olivia. She was amazing and sweet, the food was fantastic. I had the Lobster sushi, Crab Rangoons, and the fried rice with shrimp. Great portion size and the drinks were STRONG! Definitely coming back and you should definitely stop by and taste their amazing food.

Google
Service was really good. The food was decent. I really wish I would’ve tried the fried rice. I might return just for that. Other than that, it’s sushi. Super cute inside, cute patio.

Google
Didn't have the diamond poke bowl that I wanted, but my 2nd choice was good - the rainbow bowl. Service was good and atmosphere was great. I can eat with chopsticks fine. My only complaint was that the different fish inclusions in the bowl were in single big prices. Wish they were cut up a bit or I would have had a knife to do this myself.

Google
Worst service we've had here. Our bartender didn't make my drink correctly or give my husband the beer he ordered. She was too engaged with another customer at the bar to check on us. We had to stack our plates to get her attention. She didn't ask if we wanted anything else, just asked if we wanted a box and our bill.

Google
I'm so glad I found this place, it has a very unique, intimate dining area with a great patio. The menu is outstanding, every time we visit they add new stuff, some very unique sushi always fresh. Always delicious and is reasonably priced.

Yelp
I've heard about this place for years and just had the chance to visit. There is parking in the back of the restaurant and I chose to park on the street directly in front of the establishment. When I walked in I was greeted by a hostess that was walking from the back and offered me the option to seat myself wherever I wanted. Eventually I decided to sit in the room near the bar. There are two rooms; one with a bar and then one overlooking the sushi prep area as it seems. I waited for my dining partner to arrive and was offered the menus to order a beverage. They advertise having killer craft cocktails and baby the "My little Pony" did not miss! It was a vodka based drink with muddled blackberries. It was AMAZING! Once my dining partner arrived we ordered sushi, miso soup and the salmon fried rice. The rolls were good; nicely presented and tasted fresh. The salmon was cooked to perfection for the salmon fried rice and was a very large portion. So large that I could eat it four additional times. The miso soup was one of the best. We were there on an early Saturday afternoon and they had football games streaming on the tvs at the bar. The decor was eccentric...almost like a country Asian vibe. Not quite what I was expecting but it made the place interesting. They also have an enclosed patio that I was offered an option to sit out there as well. But declined because it was a bit chilly outside in general. Though it looks like the outdoor patio may have been heated. I could believe this seating option is really needed because the place is not that large and seems like it could get quite busy. Our server was really sweet and attentive which always will elevate the experience. I recommend and will certainly visit again.

Yelp
This place left me waiting for ten minutes at the counter before even being approached. I came in for a carryout of two sushi rolls, and they were not busy. The manager approached me and blew me off when I didnt immediately say what I wanted to order. Sorry, I actually had some questions. Tried to ask but she just walked off. Finally someone bothered to talk to me. And 35 minutes later I had some mediocre and expensive sushi and a pea sized amount of wasabi. At 45 minutes, absolutely not worth it. And i wasn't the only customer they did this too that night. Also everything in the place from the floors to the counters to the benches was sticky. Gross. Also watch out for the waiting bench because it has a half hump intrusion in the same color that will absolutely bruise your ass in the terrible lighting. Also the menus in house dont match the prices online. Some menu items arent available and other items arent listed. I remember why I havnt visited in six years. Dont go here. Also, I think their tuna rolls come from a can. Why is it so pulpy and mushy? I should be able to recognize the meat. Gross. They also only provide generic low sodium soy sauce. Blegh.

Yelp
Always such a great experience! We come here weekly and LOVE it. The rolls are always so fresh & the cocktails are yummy. A nice atmosphere & service is always pretty good. Their happy hour is amazing as well!

Yelp
Nice ambience and good menu. Good go to date spot and also the fried rice is yummy yummy yummy !!!! Definitely recommend. It is a bit pricey but I think it's worth it :)

Yelp
Great food and service Give it a try! Outdoor seating is still a thing Nice staff

Yelp
Absolutely no service, waited a very long time for someone actually to show up at our table. Went to the bar to get our own drinks, the bartender looked at me and walked away from the bar to do something else. the host who was standing there, said there was a bartender and walked away. When the bartender returned, she Told me to wait for my server go back to my table. Server drop some of our utensils on the floor. we had to go and find the host to get replacements to eat. we ate dinner with the utensil still on the floor. Our waitress never came back with new ones.

Yelp
As a Grosse Pointe resident, I generally hate our food options. We're the land of $20 mediocre burgers and gastropubs that can't get a grip on the concept they want to execute. Blufin has some similar Grosse Pointe hangups. While the ambiance is alright, it's nothing special. The service is decent. The drinks are okay. Some of the menu items are just okay, but nothing is particularly bad. With all that said, I absolutely love Blufin. I love the high shelved bowls that I can get a $6 delicious serving of fried oreos in. I do not at all feel ripped off spending $26 to get the Mongolian beef with fried rice. It is the best damn Mongolian beef I have ever had. There's days where the sushi is just standardly decent, and there are days where it's easily slotted into the top 3 for metro-Detroit. There are some menu items where "the margins aren't adding up," as they say. Like it feels weird as hell to spend $6 on a fantastic desert and spend $17 for 3 nicely decorated wonton crackers. Ultimately, I don't really care. The food is generally great and menu items that hit are in leagues beyond what most of this area has to offer.

Darian C.

Yelp
They were so fast with my takeout and very friendly. Great happy hour deals and I loved the sushi!
google avatar

Janae T.

Yelp
The sushi was great as expected for my first time, but I also ordered the dumplings which were great as well . I ordered my food to go, but the service was good as well.

Dee S.

Yelp
Wow!!! What a place! Beautiful restaurant! Extensive menu! I ordered the Asian Caesar and it was the absolute best Caesar I've ever had! Even hubs loved it after his sushi! Our server was so attentive! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
First time in the area, sat on the front patio which was really nice. I tried the bluefin roll which was really good. Overall was a nice place and I would for sure come back.

Yelp
I always love the staff coming in to this place. And it happens to be our first time having a meal at the end of summer 2023. Like I said, the waitress was phenomenal, naturally comfortable working with the public. Very good at her job. Lovely talking with her. We split a few menu items. He did most of the sushi ordering, but I do remember, I opted for the Mongolian sushi. We both loved that. The Mongolian beef dish is also very well. Done. My absolute favorite part (besides, the cocktails and company) was my personal favorite appetizer, crab Rangoon. Although I have to say, I am usually disappointed by the quality of the crab Rangoon at most most of the restaurants that do carry . This one, WOW! It blew me away. I never thought crab Rangoon could be done in a "gourmet fashion" if you will, but they nailed it. The raspberry sauce was delicious. Presentation beautiful. Lastly, I can say, both myself, and my date would give the entire experience five stars. The meal, service, and ambience. Oh can't forget the cocktails... The cocktails were fabulous IMHO. My date tried one of their menu craft cocktails and was pleased. I of course did my old standby which is a cosmopolitan. Believe me some places can screw this up. But I digress, they did not! Thank goodness.

Yelp
Amazing sushi and great drinks (specifically the espresso martini!) Service is good as well and in a good location.

Yelp
Fave sushi in Detroit! Helped us make the decision to move to GP neighborhood. Great fresh fish and killer vibes combine for incredible experience.

Yelp
bluefin Sushi in Grosse Pointe, MI. Family of four out to dinner on a Saturday and we are offered a seat outside on an empty patio by ourselves on a snowy night, burrr. We politely waited 15 minutes for a table inside and were seated bar side with everyone else. We ordered two cucumber martini's that were so sour it made our lips pucker, glad there was ice water. Dinner arrived quickly served by a food runner however the waitress failed to give us enough chop sticks so my husband had to eat the fish with his fingers, (mind you he's the one paying for the meal) then half way into dinner the waitress returns to tell us that our crab rangoon was not added to the bill because it was forgotten by the kitchen leaving us feeling disappointed, and lastly after dessert when clearing the two ice cream bowls from the table it landed on my 11 year old's expensive LuLueLemon trashing her Jacket that was hanging on the back of her chair she was sitting in. Never have I had food spilled on us in a restaurant, poor service.
google avatar

Scott W.

Yelp
We entered the restaurant and employees walked around us for at least 5 minutes without saying a word to us. The manager finally came out and greeted us. He was a nice guy. The waitress was not great. My wife asked for the waitress to cook the fish on her salad, I was able to eat my whole meal before the food came back. The food was good. I will give this place another chance someday. It's a nice place but there is your typical poor service.

Kita L.

Yelp
We went for a graduation dinner and the food was cold. They do not accept cash, cards only. The waiters have to try to make change from their tips, that's ridiculous. Our waitress Sara was awesome eventhough she may have been overwhelmed by the party size, she was still pleasant. I do not plan on visiting Bluefin again.

Yelp
Okay food, but the price doesn't reflect the quality nor the quantity. The inside is nice but the margins dont add up

Aria G.

Yelp
Delicious rolls and drinks. Great service/environment. There is patio seating and the restaurant is very clean.

Shari T.

Yelp
Disappointment is the nicest way I can describe my food today. It actually look like it was leftover from yesterday. I paid almost $70 for fried rice with shrimp, pop rock shrimp and sesame chicken. The boxes were damn near empty and the food looked old and tasted old. They have definitely lost my business.

Kyla B.

Yelp
I've been here twice- once dining in and once carry out. this place is the real deal. food is so fresh, best edamame of all the places i've tried, drinks are great and good sake selection. they also handled a saturday dinner rush amazingly. my new go-to place!!! plus happy hour? who can beat it?
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
This place was excellent we got there an less than an hour before close. I don't like to do that but we were starving and the staff was were kind enough to us in and dine there. They didn't rush us and didn't mind us taking our time. The sushi was so fresh and so delicious the cocktails were beautiful a refreshing the watermelon was unique one I enjoyed my mango champagne cocktail. I have shellfish allergies and they made very sure that I would be fine and that I was very safe to eat there. Excellent place I will go back
google avatar

Donnamarie H.

Yelp
Good sushi, tasty and reliable. I prefer to get it as takeout just bc Grosse Pointe isn't really my scene. But the time I did eat inside the restaurant the food was good and fresh as always and the service was friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
So I tried this place again and the food has gone wayyy downhill. They were out of quite a few items (no complaints on that, I get it and it happens) but what I did order was pretty bad. I got the fried rice with shrimp. The rice had no flavor at all and was soggy like it was boiled in butter. The shrimp were unseasoned and barely cooked. I honestly have had better shrimp and fried rice at a mall food court. For $22, pretty disappointing. My dining companions said their food was just ok. The prices aren't reflective of the quality. Hoping this place improves, maybe it was an off day. But dropping over $100 for a less than mediocre lunch is not enticing me to return soon.
google avatar

Gina P.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here and I really enjoyed it! Parking is mainly in the street. Staff was friendly when I went to pick up my order. I ordered a cucumber avocado roll, miso soup, and calamari. Everything tasted great. Knocking off one star because the miso soup was slightly over salted, but it was still edible. Other than that, everything was good! I am looking forward to returning and trying out more menu items.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my favorite sushi place in metro Detroit. The sweet potato roll is the best and the staff is very accommodating for vegan preferences. Nice patio too!

Yelp
Living in Nashville now, I only make it home to visit family in the D every few months. Meaning the restaurants I choose to eat at/try need to be picked carefully. For this trip I knew I wanted sushi. I'm a veggie sushi eater myself so finding a place that has some good vegetarian sushi options is key. Also my dad doesn't like any sushi (veggie or not) so finding a spot with alternative options was key. Blufin delivered! I would 100% recommended and come back here. My dad got the street tacos with grilled chicken and they looked awesome. Fresh crunchy radish, pickled onions and finished with cilantro... I was dying for a bite myself. My mom got the Las Vegas roll and a roll with lobster and loved both. I got the avocado/cucumber roll and the fancy vegetarian roll, which featured tempura asparagus, cream cheese, avocado, a few other Asian veggies and was topped with a spicy sauce that left a kick in your mouth. Sooo good!! Sat outside on the patio, great service, and fun people watching. Check on Blufin for yourself! They also had a very unique Asian drink you drop a shot into. I didn't try this time but would be intrigued to next time.
google avatar

Patrick G.

Yelp
Food and service was great. But when we arrived, some inconsiderate jerk parked two spots over and decided to park about 2 feet into the next lane! The small parking lot was pretty packed and he decided to inconvenience the next patron by making them have to find a further parking spot and walking. The reason why this is reflected in my rating is that he appeared to be a Blufin employee. Possibly a manager because he just walked around a lot and said hello to the servers. Be more considerate to your customers.
google avatar

Kevin J.

Yelp
Blufin is a decent but nowhere near great sushi spot I find myself back at periodically mainly because there's little in the way of sushi options on the East side. It has great ambience, oftentimes lackadaisacal service and overpriced food. Most of the meals I've had here have been tasty but I often leave still somewhat hungry thinking about how I could have had two meals of Thai for the same cost. Or keeping it to the same type of cuisine how much I could have gotten for the same price at Noble Fish out in Clawson. I've gotten carry out here a couple times in the pandemic era and they were surpringly quick with it given that I didn't call ahead and I've been conditioned for a leisurely wait when walking through the doors of Blufin. Both times my Edamame was dry, flavorless and lacking in the saltiness I love. And that makes me salty. I don't remember the Edamame being like that when I dined here in person so I'm not sure what happened. One time I was here and my server took my plate away before I had a chance to eat my ginger. When I complained he rectified the error by bringing me what was probably a triple portion. That was pretty cool and funny but also a challenge for me as I do like my ginger but it's a bit spicy. I did finish it all though.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Once again order carry out and was told to wait and people in the restaurant got the food before me...thought I would give this spot a second chance and same result will not be back. Mid sushi and horrible service. I'll stick to noble fish.
google avatar

Marianne P.

Yelp
My husband and I have eaten there a few times and are always disappointed. We ordered wine, and I'm sure we did not get even a five oz pour, and it's expensive! Then the waiter comes back and asks us if we want another glass of wine. Ah, no! Also, all the entrees are over priced and only mediocre. We won't be going back, which is sad because we live so close.
google avatar

Andrea D.

Yelp
Over priced sushi spot. That's all I have to explain this place. Prices are eh, the rolls are okay, nothing crazy. There's for sure better sushi spots around.
google avatar

Shawn G.

Yelp
Their carry out service is a joke. Waited an hour and a half while people in the restaurant were served their food promptly. One of many historical disappointments with this place. Unless you're absolutely craving sushi, I'd recommend moving on to another restaurant.
google avatar

Johnnn G.

Yelp
Staff was nice. This place was a huge disappointment, first started with the edamame, usually when you order edamame at a restaurant they are fresh and steamed, Blufin serves frozen heavily covered in salt in a paper coffee cup. Sushi was ok but the fish components seems to be on the warmer side, or maybe it was because it took over 45 min to get 3 rolls delivered to the table and it just sat out. This place was such a let down and had me thinking Kroger sushi would have been the better option.
google avatar

Kathryn P.

Yelp
My husband and I had the fried rice with scallops, a combination neither of us had tried. It was delicious, fresh tender scallops on well-seasoned rice. Nicole, our server, was friendly and efficient. So happy we stopped here for lunch. We are lucky to have this restaurant in the neighborhood.

John J.

Yelp
This place has officially gone to shit. We've ordered takeout several times since the pandemic - each time worse than the next - but last week's experience soured us on this place forever. The portions have decreased in size to the point where they are laughable - while prices have increased. The sushi rolls are made sloppily and are slightly larger than those offered by Kroger. The entree sized Mongolian Beef consisted of 7 pieces of beef that looked and tasted like cardboard. The rest of our entrees barely filled half the containers they were packed in. Their taste was equally disappointing. Not at all worth the $200+ for a family of four. Do yourself a favor and buy a bag of Mongolian Beef and Vegetable Fried Rice from Trader Joe's. It's much tastier, and takes less than the 45 minutes it takes Bluefin to throw appetizer sized portions of bad food in a container. Farewell Blufin.
google avatar

Kassy K.

Yelp
Good sushi but honestly I thought it was just okay. We ordered three rolls for 2 people and usually that's good enough for me but I was still left hungry at the end of it. In terms of aesthetic the sushi looked nice but again the taste was just okay
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
I wanted to stop in to have a small bite and some wine. I ordered one beef slider and one crab slider. I ate outside . Their patio is nice a bit set back from Mack avenue and the doors into the inside restaurant were open giving me a sense of being connected to the restaurant much more inviting. The sliders were each 3 bites for 3 dollars apiece. They both were very dry . The crab slider I debated finishing because it had a strong fishy taste.

David D.

Yelp
I eat a ton of sushi and when a friend of mine claimed this was the best sushi I was quick to bring up a ton of places I'm sure he hadn't tried that would too if it. The presentation wasn't the most elaborate I've seen, but this was beyond exceptional quality sushi. The service was fantastic. The drinks were good. The fried Oreo dessert was quite nice. If you're a fan of Maru or Noble Fish, I'd have to put this spot in the same league and say it's surpassed my last couple visits to Noble. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Cindy H.

Yelp
Great selection of sushi Better if you can be seated outside Indoors is kinda dreary Prices are fair
google avatar

Alyson H.

Yelp
Just ignore the hours they have posted everywhere. They close at 11, not midnight. Driving home from the airport I stopped here to grab some sushi, parked, walked in, was told the kitchen was closed. Good thing I went out of my way to stop here.

Dan C.

Yelp
Never disappointed in the past, dine in or take out, however this was the worst. Took a bite into the slider and it was like charred leather. Both of them were cooked this way and should never have been put in a box to send out on an order. I immediately called, got a voice mail. Left my name and number and it's now the next day 1pm and not a word from the restaurant. Not only were the sliders a big let down, the sushi had more rice than content. I know times are tough for restaurants right now and getting enough help but when you send out food like this It's going to take me a while before I come back. $80 later and the two of us were still hungry since the sliders were inedible and the sushi so small. I have been loyal since you opened. A phone call would help. Update! Dustin reached out to me and did make amends. We will be giving another shot as we had not been let down before this.

Lynyrd P.

Yelp
I'm not a Sushi guru I personally like my fish on a open fire but I enjoyed the sushi experience a lot and decent alcohol prices I recommend the dynamite bowl spicy with jalapeño for people who love spice Michigan natives hate spice so definitely recommend for out of state peoples.

Yelp
I went to Bluefin with my sister on a Saturday afternoon. The outside has a cute patio you can sit on, but we chose to sit inside because of the heat. I have to say, the decor inside is really dark, which I found uninviting. There were very few people there, so we were seated right away. The menu is large had has a lot of options. The pricing is in line with other sushi restaurants in the area. I chose the Grosse Pointer roll and the Lobster California roll. My sister also ordered 2 rolls and the seaweed salad. I substituted soy paper on mine because I cannot eat Nori. The restaurant had no problem accommodating this but there was a small upcharge (this has happened at every restaurant I have been, so I expected it). Both rolls were good, the crab and lobster in them were nice and fresh. That said, the pieces fell apart when I tried to pick them up, and I did end up with a piece of shell in one of mine, which is why my rating is lower. Overall I enjoyed both of them though. My sister enjoyed hers also, commenting on how good the seaweed salad was. The service was good, the waitress was very polite and brought a cask of water when we requested it. She also was prompt with taking our order, food delivery, etc. I would go back to Bluefin again, but would prefer to sit on the patio because the interior is so dark.
google avatar

Yelp
It was my first time there. Everything recently reopened due to covid. My waitress just would not wear her mask the right way. Her nose was uncovered, her mouth was uncovered, at one point she wasnt wearing it at all. Everyone else was, just not the waitress who leaned directly over me. No social distancing at all. I couldve handed her my water glass but i got an arm pit in my face instead. Just wear the mask! It just made it obvious she didnt care. Also, they didnt have eel on the menu. How can a sushi place not have eel? Over all, weird experience. Ill head somewhere else next time.

Yelp
Ordered kids chicken tenders for my 4yr old and noticed it was completely raw. Our waitress forgot several items we ordered but I didn't make a fuss bc we were trying to get in and out. We were treated like we were an inconvenience for bringing this to their attention, tried to wait for a manager and then found out he wasn't coming in. They are clearly in over their heads operating with the pandemic restrictions. They didn't offer us a refund just a gift card to come back and risk our lives on their food. So disturbing and extremely dangerous!
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
Sushi is WAY overpriced and nothing spectacular at all (Kroger-like) $18 for a roll "Salmon on Fire" . $11 for a crab rangoon appetizer that only had 3 pieces. Fried Oreos were disgusting and the ice cream ball in the center of the plate was a frozen ball you couldn't even get your spoon through it it was like pre-frozen or something? Highly disappointed. Edo sushi in Royal Oak or Sushi Kafe in Rochester are wayyyy better. I don't mind spending money on good food but this food was awful!!!!!

Kate P.

Yelp
We have been loyal customers for years. We went for lunch today and both got very ill from fish that looked bad, obviously discolored, warm and all around disgusting. It was obviously old and they attempted to give it back to us a day or 2 later. Avocado was yellow, tuna (should have been white) was slimey and green, scallops were incredibly fishy and smelly. Gross! Furthermore, no computers or credit card machines worked and they asked us to leave a credit card with Them (?) Won't be back for a while not worth $70
