BnA Studio Tokyo | Best places to stay in Tokyo

"Opened in 2018, this boutique hotel from the BnA art and design collective may only have five rooms, but each is out of this world – it’s a functional art installation, where cutting-edge contemporary art and elements of traditional Japanese design have been merged to create a genuinely unique place to stay. Beyond the accommodation, basing yourself here also means the chance to tap into Tokyo’s art and design scene at the MIKKE co-working space. You’d be supporting local artists too, as the people who designed each room get a cut of the profit from each booking. The location, in the otaku (geek) culture mecca that is Akihabara, might seem unusual, but this part of town also has a growing art and design scene, and it offers easy train access to most major districts. Great, unique hotel stay. We stayed in the Wonder Park room, which worked great for our family of four with two kids in elementary school. The layout has two queen beds right next to each other. The room was really interesting, things were clean and reasonably spacious, and it was nice to have a washer and dryer. Hotel seemed like it had concrete walls and I heard zero noise from other rooms. Easy walking distance to plenty of things in Akihabara, and to transit. No room cleaning during our stay, which was a bit more like an Airbnb, but that was fine for us. I didn't see staff at the front desk at all, though I did have mail sent to the hotel in advance, and it was waiting for us in our room upon arrival. Check in was an annoying iPad process, but that was only a few minutes of inconvenience in an otherwise pleasant stay. I'd definitely come back to this hotel.

A decent size and quirky room for the four of us, as it was winter, good to have the washing machine and dryer as well. It's much more of an airbnb. Pillows are not great. It's in a great location, close to some of the bigger stations so makes it easy to get around and pick things up as need. ||We were there over the public holidays in beg of Jan, so not much was open for breakfast and coffee, the hotel does not have a coffee shop or anything. ||Front desk is often not manned, one of the staff wasn't very helpful when we were wanting suggestions close by. There were different people each time though, and some were friendlier and spoke great English. ||They charge you $20 to hold your luggage in an open area, wired to the wall once you check out.

A very unique room in a good location, only minutes from Akihabara. We stayed in the Athletic Park room as a family of 4 for 4 nights. It would have been nice for 2 nights but it became a little cramped after a while. It’s a shame the top bed didn’t have more height, so the occupants on the bottom bed could sit up without worrying about bumping their head. We were here in December and it wasn’t cheap but that’s ok for a unique experience. There’s no dining option but plenty a few minutes walk away. Handy parking across the street.

Loved staying here! I wished I could've stayed longer and really get to enjoy it more. After a 13h flight, this felt so cozy, beautiful and functional. The bed is SO comfy, the shower is amazing and the washing/dryer machine is chef kiss. Really clean too. The receptionist was extra nice. I'm really grateful I could stay in this place even for just one night. 100% recommend.

The hotel is in a great location, and close to electric town in Akihabara. The room was a really cool concept and spacious for a hotel in Tokyo. Unfortunately the air conditioner didn't really work and when we would return after a long day of walking and shopping, the room would be really warm and didn't cool off. This may not be an issue if you are staying in the winter time but during the summer/fall it was really inconvenient and made the room uncomfortable. We also tried to get some drinks at the bar downstairs but it is very expensive and wasn't open past 11.

Our three-night stay at the BnA Studio Akihabara, specifically in the Zen room on the 4th floor, was a remarkable experience that significantly enhanced our autumn trip to Japan. The check-in process was impressively smooth and user-friendly, a pleasant surprise that set a positive tone for our stay. However, it's worth noting for future guests that if you're traveling with heavy luggage, there are a few small stairs to navigate before accessing the elevator, which can be a bit of a challenge.||||The Zen room itself was a delightful blend of modern amenities and traditional Japanese aesthetics, providing a tranquil and comfortable environment. It was spacious enough for our family and well-equipped for our needs.||||One of the biggest advantages of staying at BnA Studio Akihabara was its proximity to the bustling Akihabara district. This was particularly enjoyable for our daughter, who found Akihabara to be the highlight of our trip. The area is lively and full of exciting sights, sounds, and shopping opportunities, particularly for those interested in electronics and pop culture.||||Overall, our experience at BnA Studio Akihabara was very positive. The minor inconvenience of carrying luggage up some stairs was far outweighed by the comfortable accommodations, excellent location, and the unique experience of staying in a room that so beautifully captured the essence of Zen in Japan. We would recommend it to other travelers, especially those looking to immerse themselves in the vibrant energy of Akihabara.

Each room is uniquely designed, and this is the Zen Garden on the 4th floor. Each floor has only one unit. We had a very large traditional living room, king bed, kitchen, bathroom, and washer in the kitchen. Also, surprisingly, we got a balcony as well. 7/11 is nearby for any quick errands. There are plenty of restaurants in 2 to 5 mins walk. Train station is about 8min walk. Checkout is 11am, and we needed to stay till 1pm. They charged just 2000yen for the late checkout, which is totally reasonable. Highly recommend it!
